No, I am saying that I don’t want the balance of the thief held hostage by a 15 point minor in critical strikes so we need to take that initiative away from there and put it into the base class mechanics, which is exactly what we are doing.

This is a reasonable enough change IMO. Dependence of Thief builds on the CS line needs to be reduced to allow for better build variety and the only way to do that while avoiding power creep is by increasing Thief’s base effectiveness and reducing the effectiveness of certain traits in the CS line. There is no other way around it. Whether these changes go too far or not enough, however, is certainly up for debate.
Regarding Shadow Return, how about taking a similar approach and removing it from Sword altogether (change Inf to a leap finisher maybe?), and add Shadow Return as an F2 for our class mechanic Steal, adding a Stun Breaking/condi removal component?
This would accomplish the following:
1. Allow all Thief builds access to a more readily available Stun Breaker (that we really need due to being shoehorned into Zerker builds to be useful to our teams and the lack of Stability access), making other weaponsets approach pre-nerf S/x in viability
2. Give Thieves at least 1 Stun Breaker regardless of what utilities they need to bring on their bar (Venom share anyone?)
3. Make it easier for you to balance SR since Steal is a cooldown based mechanic
4. Make Steal inherently useful as more than just a gap closer and situational utility tool without traiting for it
5. Add a survivability aspect to the Trickery line so that it could be a viable alternative to AcrobaticsWhile we’re on the topic of Steal, please also consider removing the ability to use Stolen Items from F1, and add a F3 that will be populated with an Offensive item, and F4 that will be populated as a Defensive item when F1 is used. A Thief can then choose to between one of these two items to activate based on the situation at hand, or to Steal again with an unobstructed F1 without using F3 or F4 if he needs to use Steal itself to reroll F3 and F4 or to activate traited effects.
These changes would make untraited Steal a much more robust mechanic on par with the usefulness of other class mechanics that don’t require traits to be class-defining.
Basically you saying “anet you killed S/D thieves so why dont you just remove thief sword as a playable weapon?”
Hell no you P/D,D/D thief will not get this buff on S/D thieves behalf

I would like to comment about the IS/IR issue.
S/D thieves,whenevr they good or bad relay on IR to get out of sticky situations-it is somewhat understandable why you changed it,you got pressure from some ppl who can’t deal with it.But let me remind you that thief is no warrior and dont have endure pain or can whirl away and thief is not a mesmer and dont have distortion and thief is not a necro with 3 health pools and he is not elem or guardian with 41243 boons.Infact thief health pool is very low.So IS/IR was a nice addition to match up those other proffesions hit managing skills.
What I suggest is to compensate S/D thieves with a increased toughness or vitality at least or even shorter init for other skills such as the dual one.
Please consider that Jon and again thanks for keep us in the loop for these changes.

I am a very huge fond of the sword skills and to change from it to other spec is pretty much game breaking for me…
running stable S/D might build but having problems against cond mesmers and espically preplexity mesmers….

Was stuck on FS BL last night while we had two guild raids pointlessly running about looking for the oppositions guild raids to run into each other and gather loot bags/become them. Massive queues during prime time meant I couldn’t escape.
Whilst the guild ‘raids’ were on, no comm tagged until near the end which attracted 10-15 people.
For the entirety of the time the guilds were on, we held exactly one camp, one tower. Then after the small pug group spent the time knocking down the gates we finally waved carrots at the guild raids who condescended to grace us with their presence to fight inside bay and take it (as there were defenders to kill).
I’m sure the guild fights were great fun, but they contributed almost nothing to the score for the whole evening, and in a match up that is this close that could really have hurt the server. Watching one ‘melee train’ fight another ‘melee train’ was about the most tedious thing I have seen in wvw, Stop, Buff. Charge. Hammers. Press 1, press 1, press1. Stop. Buff. Keep in a ball. Water fields. Blast. Wells. Yawn. Why people still stand and wave at it from the front I have no idea- they are quite easy to beat on an open field with a bit of co ordination as the balling up is also their downfall, as is the reliance on the the eles and necros who tend to be on the wings, and the ball tends to focus all it’s damage to the front.
As soon as the guild raids were over a comm tagged up and we were able to have some nice fights and actually hold on to some points as well.
Which guilds are you refering to? because last night TAC comm tagged up and we took both keeps(bay and hills) and lower towers and even managed to upgrade bay to t1 while dealing with FS combined guild groups and AG guilds zergs.
And before that there was pugs comm with ONS and SoD groups movjng about without tag.

Gandara has piles of people all milling about and wondering off doing their own stuff, no idea where you got the idea that there are no solo roamers- although we have so many aimless wonderers maybe you mistook them for groups.
Just attack one of them- most of the others won’t even notice and you’re pretty much guaranteed an easy kill.
Personally I’m hoping I get to play in prime time before the match up is over.
I havent met any so far and i played about about 10ish hours per day (and tried all borderlands). The solo players i saw where on their way to their blob and would just run if i attacked
Bit boring.
The roamers usually have the same guildtag and roam with 5-7 sometimes mixed with 2-3 non guildies. So youre saying all of them are random despite that they stick together and have the same guildtag?
Strange,cause I roamed all of the bl’s and didnt see any single AG roamer except 3-4 gulidies and to be frank I only saw 2 “roamers” AG thieves waiting for roamers at sentry which I killed very fast…. a part from that you can ask deso or am ppl about gandara roamers and they will gladly tell you.
And there is this other thing…..YOU DOING IT WRONG if you didnt see any single roamer while Gandara have bloodlust almost all the time.

Hello,im playing gw nearly 6 months on lowest graphics specs without major problems altough I had occasionally random crashes saying “out of memory”.My PC spec is:
Intel core i5 750 2.67GHz
GTX260
4GB RAM
Windows 7 32bit Ultimate
While trying to scale my grpahic up a bit(by pressing auto-detect),I suddenly having random rainbowish colors blocking my minimap or even my screen and sometimes when I press H my character is rainbowish colored…and most of the times I eventually get crashed.
When I tried to make screenshot of the problem I got crashed again with 2 errors:
