If the tag watchers can’t see a tag but are remotely map aware, they can still tell where a group is much of the time.
At this point in the game, there are a lot of time zones where there are no pugmanders…
Think about it like this. Players hop into wvw. They check the map. See no tag. Go to another map.
There may be three guilds running on that map, but they can’t tell in the seconds they take to process the info. So they map hop, then log.
That’s why visible tags matter.

If we as a community want more interaction, we need to do our part. That means treating devs who post here with respect, not jumping all over them. I know that we’re starved for communication – I am too. I know how easy it is to unload on someone with a red tag because they showed up and we’re just wanting to be heard.
We’re capable of communication that isn’t rude or insulting – those styles are choices people make. And we’ve seen that style of communication not work… and ruin it for the whole forum.
We get to own our behavior as a community. Let’s do so, and change it.
Because a beloved game mode is at stake. It’s worth it.
Sorry Gaile, it isn’t about in-game rivalries. It’s about frustration with Anet who has a more direct hand in match-making now through manual glicko adjustments and server linking choices without taking the time to understand the community trends going on with those teams.
Yep, and I’ve already replaced the post and spoken to the moderator who removed it. If that satisfies you, you can delete this post yourself. or delete the first post and leave the second you made. Whatever works for you.
Thank you. Correcting mistakes matters.
Let’s not give people a tool for creating a toxic environment.
The sad part is that there is a specific set of forum posters who are most likely to derail a thread from something constructive into match-up. They often add jabs at whichever server they don’t particularly like, and that stirs the pot. Maybe it’s not just the threads that need a time out, but some of the posters most likely to derail things down the match-up rabbit hole?
Love the idea. But some of those guild based stats will promote blobbing and refusal to engage, rather than a healthy competitive atmosphere.
T3 I would call a runaway. The rest I’ve seen bigger comebacks. But honestly why would anyone bother to try.
And this, sir, is part of the exact problem. The motivation to try isn’t there any more. So guilds try to have fun when they log in as best they can.
A tournament at the moment would kill what’s left of WvW. Competitive match ups (that are actually competitive, not “equalish numbers without regard to timezone distribution, etc”) need to happen first.
No, it’s a known bug that happens at times for 120 seconds. The only current fix is to change maps.
It’s not hard to raise the gold to transfer, particularly if your friends chip in and help you out.
So, just because I’m curious, what point, exactly, were you actually trying to make?
Nothing. I could see it like this… notification during a skirmish that the alliance will end at the start of the next one. When the alliance ends, all enemy players in no longer alliance objectives that just reverted to single ownership are ported outside the objective (or to spawn). If they want to start attacking each other at that point, in a match-up that is that unbalanced, well, there’s no accounting for poor strategic and tactical decisions.
If we’re theory crafting here… If both servers are allowed, all owned properties would need to be equal access.
Should it return to being a three way, give each allied server their third “home” keeps and towers back (assuming they are owned by the alliance) and rng assign the others equally by point value and tier level.
This started out with a complaint about a dev on YB claiming. YB is so far from being a stacked server…
Playstyles are, actually, impacted by scoring systems, even though there are groups of people who will try to tell you that they aren’t.
Playstyles have changed as the scoring has changed. They will continue to do so.
Ultimately, we need matchups that are balanced by more than just population numbers. The way to get there is through scoring changes, because we’ve already seen what happens when matches are set based on numbers alone.
My guild and allies. The enemies I love to fight.
A lot of that is at risk right now, because this server linking situation created a mess that is making WvW much harder to have fun in.
One of the issues is that constructive conversation about actual issues often gets derailed by insults and mud slinging against specific servers, communities, guilds, or play styles. Which means the good stuff gets buried in trash talk.
You can talk about the process and the issues that linked servers present. Just hope no one jumps in and starts the insults flying, because the thread will then get locked.
An Anet claimed objective is a target. It’s fun to see them, because you know it’s going to draw fights, because someone will want to take it out, and it’s an easy rallying cry… “take the Anet claimed thing!”
I’m pretty much always happy to see Anet tags, because they know exactly what happens when they put that target over their heads, and they do it anyway.
People keep saying oh we voted for desert bl but the people who voted for it are no where to be seen and that’s because the majority who voted for it only go EOTM , PVE and people who only enter WvW for dailies . Just to a revote and exclude people who hardly enter WvW .
Here is what a real WvW vote looks like since majority players who voted for it are WvW players
http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=585d28afe4b09017a83c32d8
Putting a poll up on the toxic discord with a note “please vote no” is not exactly a game mode wide way of building your case.
I brought popcorn to reset. It was worth it.
Yup. It worked, too. Glicko adjusted down. I have popcorn for reset.
<.< >.> …often doesn’t have arrow carts in inventory…
Or, perhaps, YB doesn’t play the same way today as it did a couple of years ago.
Yes, I’ll go stand in front of the arrow cart firing squad now. I know, blasphemy!
It’s keeping YB in tiers where there is no risk of a t1 roll while t1 is completely messed up. I’m fine with this.
Only contested with siege… only if gates cannot be pvd’d…
You were already corrupting boons before epi if you really wanted it to be effective. This just means you have to do it better.
Remember… one person does it, the entire server must be involved. /s
Awooo… from at least 15 charrs. Probably with hobo packs. Or in lich form.
To add to the list: players treating each other with respect – allies and enemies alike. This is one we have control over.
YB isn’t remotely interested in being in t1. Better yet, it’s in no danger of being there any time soon. There’s a silver lining to having no link and being locked…
It seems that the issue isn’t necessarily with mentioning a world as much as it is with throwing around insults in conjunction with mentioning worlds.
Some of you need to take a serious look at what’s happening NOW on multiple servers. And you also need to take a realistic look at history. YB is not a siege heavy server these days, and hasn’t been for quite awhile. So stop derailing conversations that need to happen about the state of the current game with what seems to be YB induced PTSD from guilds and players who don’t even play any more.
More than one of us has reported it, and it’s not a hardware issue, unless it’s a bug with nvidia 970 series cards and i7 processors. Pretty sure I’m not running on a potato, and I reported this bug last year.
You don’t have to announce an intentional tank to have it happen. Some of those guild tags haven’t left the server. They just chose to take the week off.
Feedback: waiting for literally hours for an event to spawn ( two day/night cycles) to get a drop for a collection is not fun. I don’t mind the wait if I can be off doing something, but the lumberyard event literally is up and down in a crazy short time frame…
OK, that was so unbelievable I checked. I don’t even know how to comment on TC and JQ being full ATM.
15 charr fix forum bug
I’m watching the toxic build up in map chat because of the conflict between needing to fail and event and the folks who want to succeed at it. Why design this way?
They have repeatedly stated “all of them”.
Remember, they don’t always fly the Anet guild tag…
Is the objective color thing part of it? That would explain slot. I haven’t had the loading screen bug in awhile, although some guildies are dealing with it nightly. But I have the objective color bug or the no color objective bug almost every night.
As others have mentioned, it’s just a case of showing respect. It actually works out in your favor, too. Respect someone else’s fights, and they will usually respect yours.
Thanks for the update. The big problem, of course, is when your map is queued and changing maps isn’t an option… particularly for commanders on reset night.
I’m actually happy that I’m not fighting queues at the moment.
We really need rich mahogany walls and furniture for guild hall decorations.
It’s the only way to show that we’re kind of a big deal.
After all, we already have bookcases full of many leather bound books…

All the talk of ktraining just isn’t my experience of WvW. Blobs? Check. Hitting a t3 structure specifically to get the enemy to show up and defend? Check. But pvd on empty maps? On the rare occasions I see that, I log off.
So for those of you complaining about ktrains, can you clarify a) what timezone you play and what region, and b) what your vision of the perfect WvW looks like?
Bonus points for something more coherent than “no siege” or “everything is always paper”
The differences between the way the polls go – and Anet did say they checked WvW play time, and the results were the same when segmented by play time in WvW – and many of the very vocal people here – would seem to imply that there are is a decent population of WvW players that do not agree with a vocal group of forum posters.
Attrition in any game exists. Guilds and servers need to be able to recruit to stay healthy. That’s a reality.
OP, any chance you are running in a guild led raid where the commander is giving frontline party preference to guildies running guild builds?
Or with a commander who isn’t familiar with you, so has no way to know that you’re on, say, a frontline tempest, or a full out healing druid?
There’s also another side to the story- a reason why a lot of commanders make assumptions. I’ve literally had people show up in TS and start explaining why their <insert honestly bizarre build for a particular class> is amazing. They’ve just told me that what they are running won’t sync with my team. So to an overflow party they go.
Or they ask what traits/weapons/elites I want, then tell me why they don’t like playing those. Ok. Teamwork fail. To an overflow party with you.
If someone wants core frontline priority, show up, let me know what you are running, and give me a chance to get to know you. If you are competent, it’ll be obvious. And if you show up regularly enough, you’ll start finding yourself in one of those frontline parties.
But guildies are usually going to get priority there, regardless.
