Bad guys over there, best scout call.
It’s a good change yes, will just take some time to adapt to.
My favorite is “Inc on me!”
Erm…
I’m happy for this change – even though it’s going to take some time to get folks to remember to tell us what map they are on.
After all, we’re still trying to get size, activity, location, and guild tag…
I’ve tried searching the forum, but can’t find this one.
Anyone else seeing repeated situations where you lose connection to the server that provides guild and chat info, then you suddenly see your entire friends list scroll by as “now Online” and your ability to pm/guild chat returns?
It doesn’t affect game play (other than being able to adjust squads in the squad UI), just presence information and chat, but it’s incredibly annoying.
Map politics and opportunistic double teams are fine. They happen (or should happen) on home bl’s every reset.
Organized week long double teams are an entirely different thing, and shouldn’t be encouraged.
XTD has an incredibly valid point in the above comment as well. WvW does not exist in any form without enemies. If you break your toys, don’t come complain because you have nobody to play with any more.
Play styles and skill levels differ. One player’s idea of fun I’d someone else’s idea of boredom. But in the end, we only have a game mode if there are players on both sides
Create an environment that encourages people to play with you, not in a style you don’t enjoy.
Hint: being toxic doesn’t do that.
Holy crap… DB estimated to bleed a -100 …. I’ve never seen that … ever. Seen it in the twenties and thought that was around the most movement you get in a single match. But a hundred? that’s crazy … Kinda feel for those who are literally all trying to be captain of the ship… this is faster glicko bleed than SoR’s collapse from t1
YB bled glicko in the 50’s, iirc, when it dropped in a massive glicko induced fall, and it hadn’t lost nearly the number of guilds DB has. Under the current glicko math, once you don’t perform as expected, it seems to overcompensate. So you get a server dropping fast, then, if glicko was wrong, bouncing back up, disrupting tiers and unbalancing matches along the way.
I had this happen yesterday. As far as I am aware, I hit every checkpoint. But when I got to the chest, I got the infamous “you are exhausted and can’t open the chest” message.
Add another one to the list.
A cat herder is a Wvw pugmander. I would love the cat herder title.
It also might not hurt to remember that YB went into free fall originally due to the way glicko works. It didn’t actually lose nearly as many guilds or pop as DB has – but it got stuck in the cycle of “can’t possibly perform at the level glicko thinks it should, therefore freefall”.
Barring any addition major changes, it was going to bottom out in t4, then move back up, as glicko adjusted. That didn’t happen normally because of the temporary glicko given to CD.
Hey everyone,
We adjusted Yak’s Bend rating by +150 so they would move out of tier 3.
Do you guys ever reflect on how you tend to only reward those who complain loudly with selfish requests?
YB didn’t ask for the change. The request came from someone on SOS.
It depends on your TS channel policies.
To clarify – the devs didn’t ask for the duel. The players on their servers did, and they graciously agreed to let us throw them to the wolves, Anet tags lit up, while we stood on the sides and cheered.
The current T3 NA match is ridiculous. We were able to set up a few moments of hilarity in the midst of it, and get some goodwill going between servers. What’s not to love?
It would be a great time to finally work on the PvE raid…
The devs involved were incredibly cool about it. It’s great to coordinate something fun in an incredibly imbalanced match-up.
DK is a big influence on YB, but to set the facts straight, he’s not really playing much right now. Certainly not to the level he used to.
In all honestly, there are a bunch of folks on YB who are scratching their heads at the numbers we’re seeing right now as well. Either FC has quite a few more players than anyone knew, or we’ve got folks returning after a much longer than 2 month absence.
But it’s also the first week of the new link. Won’t mean anything until the current round of guild movements settle in and the new wears off.
Yeah, we were trying to have a lovely 3 way brawl in a garrison on reset, but soon as we’d hit lords room, the lag was horrid. Finally stopped pushing for the fight, because of it.
The way people actually voted does not necessarily match they way they say they voted…
Most of YB is incredibly chill. Too much so, actually. The ones hollering on the are a very small minority.
Demoralizing your opponent isn’t fun. Owning everything is, frankly, boring.
For a t3 server that drops to t4 right now, however, the only option they have is to try to avoid losing glicko. And once you drop down, if you don’t blow the score out of the water, you bleed glicko, and get stuck.
So it’s an awful place to be stuck – be nice, and lose a ton of glicko, or try to claw your way back out.
Wvw needs our honored enemies to work. It’s fun when the fights are fairly evenly matched, and all sides feel like they have a chance.
Roflstomping is not fun.

This. The current t4 situation is awful for anyone stuck in it. The server that shouldn’t be there wants out, so tries not to bleed amy more glicko. The other two want to play and have fun with a similar sized population. But as long as there is a risk of being stuck there, that third server isn’t going to be able to do that.
I know things were bad with the quad server, but Anet shouldn’t have inflated their match making glicko. They should have broken up the quad server instead.
Trying not to bleed glicko on t4 is awful for everyone. It’s horrible to the two t4 servers, and it’s horrid for the server trying to reduce the glicko bleed.
YB has t3 pop, but limited off hours coverage. However, it’s still stuck in glicko freefall due to the way glicko works, combined with Anet giving temporary glicko points to the CD combo.
There are some loud voices that dislike YB for historical reasons. But none of you want your server to end up the victim of a perfect storm of stupid that you can’t get ahead of. And YB today isn’t the same as YB from two years ago. Nor is it the same as the YB the alliance decided to push up tiers.
Always remember that the circumstances that dropped YB so fast can happen to your server, too. Glicko is a fickle, inherently non working mistress.
Welcome to glicko free fall, TC. Hope you can out perform what glicko thinks you should be able to do, or you’re in for a full filled few weeks of bleeding glicko.
I see a lot of situations where two servers hit a single objective. That’s not collusion. It’s how the game works…
If you were on BG during Season 2, you know the difference.
20 minutes isn’t really a long term siege, at least not for a keep.
Sat night garri pushes were a blast. We were thrilled you guys were fighting it out. /salute
The real issue in my mind is that most players ignore what a good team composition is either out of ignorance or something else. Ranger can fulfill certain roles in a zerg as can a thief and engi. But more often than not it isn’t one or two guys playing those classes, but over half of the guys playing those classes. That is where the team really starts to hurt which is why commanders, especially if the zerg is losing fights, start to make demands of team comp. If your team composition is unbalanced, your team will struggle. You’re not going to win a fight if you are all healers and have no damage. You are not going to win a fight if you are all gank and have no melee train staying power. Etc. And you can be sure that your opponent is looking at their team comps the same way.
WvW is a team-oriented game mode. You find similar demands on team composition in PvE raids (where ranger is crucial to healing), fractals, and dungeons.
This, in spades.

Four matches today. 4 matches with either dc who apparently never even loaded into the map, or afk’d during a WINNING match.
I have no words.
Welcome to glicko hell.
Sometimes, you zerg down a single because they are a friend…
If he’s in the current t3 match-up, someone pm me in game with who it is and we’ll try to screen cap or video evidence to send to Anet…
How about when the combined population of a linked pair hits full, they lock both servers?
It seems they are trying to get population to move to a linked server, then float with the link, but that hurts balance now in exchange for future balance.
Gladly! I didn’t get a visible crash report last night-just a completely black screen. Is there a file I should look for?
In all seriousness, most of the folks currently on YB (during NA at least) are more concerned about having fun and getting decent fights.
yup – random crash in the middle of a great fight tonight…
Did the new Chaos fractal on t4 last night. Once we figured out the mechanics, it was a lot of fun. Gorgeous design.
Hm… if I want to defend a camp, I leave a couple of squirrels/roamers in the area. Win win. They are happy – they have a job and can have any solo fight that comes their way. And I have reliable warning if the camp is under attack by a large enough force to make it worth moving the guild there.
I don’t see a point to making them harder to solo… it just takes map awareness and strategy to manage.
I play during na prime, though. Is the OP talking about this being a bigger issue during low pop time zones?
When we did finally see him, half the guild couldn’t see him, and we couldn’t talk to him.
Hax, must have been hax, everyone knows you can’t take an Anet claimed objective without hax.
Hm… I just clear siege, drain supply, send some folks to kill inbound yaks, and turn the place into Swiss cheese with cats. Doesn’t seem to matter who has it claimed…
Of course, most of the time what I actually want is the defenders to come out and play, which is why I’m breaking into their stuff in the first place.
Occasionally, you get some fun fights when an entire guild starts escorting yaks…. (salute to my fa friends)
I’ve seen Anet claim structures (including keeps) on servers I’ve been on and servers I’ve been fighting forever. It’s no big deal.
Except that flying the Anet tag is like waving a red flag in front of a bull. Want to lose that structure? An Anet guild tag is guaranteed to bring attention.
Personally, I think it’s a great way to get people to break in and fight. Too bad I was out sick this weekend.
We tried both poobadoo and brekabek tonight. Poobadoo was spotted, then vanished… Brek did the same multiple times, but we were able to track his bear…

I wouldn’t say YB is suffering. YB is recovering back to a sustainable level after getting pushed way above it’s pay grade.
There doesn’t seem to be a double team going on… just normal play.
And guilds are moving. Not just from and to YB. Pretty sure all the moving isn’t over yet…
Can you imagine the level of pin sniping with Anet Dev led raids?
Could make it a charity event. Kind of like a dunking booth at a school fair… donate X dollars for every dev stomped…
So the Guild Registar lets me switch between bank and inventory, but how do you transfer from one to the other besides dragging it in the guild bank and then switching tabs to the other?
Open your inventory panel and drag from your bank panel. It’s more work than a normal bank, but it’s all we’ve had on non home bl’s for ages, so I guess I’m used to it.
Basically, put your normal inventory on one side of your monitor and the bank access area on the other…
Your bank vendors can be accessed through a fully uprgaded keep or the guild register if you are smart to figure it out.
No, you can only access your guild bank at the guild register, not your personal bank.
Unless they changed it with the patch, there’s a drop down at the top of the guild bank screen. Change it, and you’ll see your personal bank in the left panel. You can then drag/drop to/from your inventory if you open it…
Apharma, you can access your bank through the guild bank vendor.
Anet, you are my heroes for this. Thank you.
