Ok, so as we approach the release of Heart of Thorns, I read lots of threads about what will happen and who’ll be there. But I keep thinking about the Mysterious Stranger we saw lurking around during last pieces of the living story.

Who is this, and what is his relevance to the story? Why is he watching over us from high above? Is he a descendant of the White Mantle? Is he working for the Mursaat? Is he Saul D’Alessio?

What are your thoughts on this stranger, and why doesn’t he have a page on the wiki?

He is mentioned here but doesn’t have his own page.

Every time, as in every day? I believe that you only have to log in once every 24 hours. Unless you have your browser set to delete cookies every time you close it, or your AV/malware software deletes them.

From what I understand this will be the way to get those old recipes. The Pact Commander Mastery Line will allow you access to vendors around the world with items that you can’t get anywhere else,

Apparently I suck. I looked at the first pic and the second one didn’t load by the time I replied. Oh well, post deleted.

I’ve found that you have to swing your cursor around the window, and then back over the copper field. This will bring the focus into the copper field and you can use the scroll wheel.

Which is why I use my scroll wheel to move up or down small increments.

Nope. Core game you get nothing. In HoT you will gain mastery points.

If you use one of those level up tombs, then you will get a Spirit Shard instead but normal XP leveling, you get nothing.

hmm, I thought I was getting them from leveling…

I speculate that they are building up to a big anniversary sale and don’t want people reluctant to spend gems after recent purchases, or worse, people demanding refunds because they bought something that then went on sale. They’ve had a big sale each anniversary so far.

This makes the most sense of any response in this thread and I’d have to agree with you. With the third anniversary coming up they are probably holding on to some good stuff.

Old skill points in excess of those earned by leveling and skill challenges will be converted into crafting materials for the Mystic Forge. Items and activities that were previously repeatable sources of skill points will now also provide that same crafting material.

Kyokushin is a tough art! My hat is off to you. We had some kyokushin practitioners come to our dojo for an introduction, and they hit HARD.

Was anyone else getting a crash of the AMD video drivers from this issue, and if GW2 was relaunched, it would BSOD shortly after? I logged in this morning and the video driver didn’t crash on me. I thought it was because I did a system restore to before the issue started, but I saw the patch notes and then I saw this thread…

Oh, I understand that they’re not going to port it to a new engine or API, but they have minimum requirements. Are those just to launch the game, or play the game? I can play just about anything else, and have no problems. Why is it that a three year old game is so unforgiving? Can’t something be done?

Insert the GIF of beating a dead horse if you want, but is there any solution or remedy on the horizon for the poor FPS that so many people experience?

I’m usually now one to whine, but I just upgraded motherboard, CPU, memory and video card, and my FPS really didn’t change much.

I know I’ll get crap for using AMD components but the price points are more affordable for me.

I went from a low end AMD Phenom II 810, 12GB RAM, and two AMD 5770s to an AMD A-10 7850K overclocked to 4.2GHz, 16GB RAM, and an AMD R9 270X 4GB

I can play ESO (it came free with the video card {what a clunky game}) at very high settings with no problem. I can also play APB Reloaded with high settings and stuff blowing up everywhere, no problem. But GW2, a three year old game, just destroys my PC and the frame rates are in the low double digits most of the time.

I can put the game on “Best Performance” and get 45 FPS in LA looking from the rock near the crafting stations towards the TP with the Mystic Forge in the foreground. How is this possible?

I looked at the sticky about PC performance, and had no luck improving things. As a side note, it’s a bit dated.

Will there be improvements in the engine, or tweaks, or something in HoT (or sooner)?

Will there really be someone, as the sticky says, “looking into performance and low framerate issues that some players are experiencing despite having a system that exceeds the minimum requirements,” ?

I write this post in the hopes that we can get some answer, either way, about what is being done for us.

I would presume they’ll open up beta test server for a while.

They probably wont’ even allow us to transfer char. So people need to start at lvl1 and level up again. So that’ll take a while.

My impression when they say, they’ll let the players decide if the product is ready to be released yet, means the beta will be quite long.

I remember seeing a Wooden Potatoes video a while back where he mentioned a new thing that ANet was trying out where they would auto level a new toon directly to 80. Since this is endgame content, I would thing that you would need a level 80 to be able to play.

Did you submit an in-game bug notification? I saw Gaile mention in another thread that, that is the best way to report a bug since they get all of the back end info to try and recreate the issue.

All light armor is going to be worth more since cloth is harder to farm than ore or logs (which have dedicated nodes for harvesting all over the maps).

You mean ore and leather? I don’t wear much wooden armor, but that’s just me.
