Tarnished Coast Roleplayers [TCRP]
“Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.”
If possible, can you take a look at this build below? It doesn’t have as much crit damage as yours does but it does grant some crazy regen/healing. I’m using something similar to this in PvP and it’s pretty amazing so far.
Thanks folks! I found them.
@ Hepatolith,
I’ve been running your build with the GS and a few changes in PvP and it’s freaking amazing! I think it’s really funny to end the match with the top healing award while only using it as a secondary support. While the damage isn’t as high as my normal zerker build, the survival is MUCH better!
I wish it just wasn’t so hard to make this work in WvW as I don’t have the zelot’s weapons right now.
Just my two cents -
1. I think they all look ridiculous and no where near what I would consider, “legendary.”
2. The fact that they can only be obtained via raids is a complete betrayal of what GW2 was supposed to be – a game with multiple areas and the ability to upgrade gear based upon the area you enjoy most.
Really loved your video! I’m wondering though, do you have trouble with those condi/zerker warriors? I started out playing a ranger but recently changed over to a s/s + LB condi warrior and have been doing much better in roaming. Perhaps I lacked the true ranger skill.
Crap… so all this time, it was the fact that my warrior doesn’t wear yoga pants that ultimately keeps me from being truly OP?
lol…
Really enjoyed the vid! Oh, and I asked on your YouTube channel but I’ll post it here as well… how exactly do you get those durability runes?
So I’ve been back in the game for about a month or so now and was wondering, why did Anet change the Sky Hammer map so there is this ridiculous shield wall around the entire map? One of things that I enjoyed about the map so much was the fact that if you’re not careful, someone could easily kick you off the side to your death. I can’t even say how many times I used to duel folks over a point where we were both trying to boot the other player only to finally screw up and find myself falling to my death. It was SO funny!
Anywho, why was this changed? Right now, the map is just boring.
@ TheSwede.9512,
That’s actually a pretty impressive assessment! I think the problem I have with GW2 is that I can find something about almost every class that I really enjoy and obviously, I play some better than others. The statement, “play what you enjoy” is rough for me as I simply don’t have time to play them all.
lol
From your experience, what do you think is the hardest class/build to defeat? I play a Warrior as a main but was trying hard to make a viable D/D Ele as well. I have a Mesmer that I toy around with from time to time but I’m not much of a fan of the chrono builds.
This thread makes me sad. I was considering rolling an Engi again and actually trying to make it work. I loved the class long time ago with all it’s toys but i really sucked at it and was never comfortable.
I main a Warrior now and was hoping for something more unique. Now I understand why I never see an Engi when playing through PvE.
Engineer is LITERALLY designed for this.
You know, you’re probably true and were it not for the fact that I completely suck as an engi, I’d probably pick one as my main character. I LOVED playing this class with all their amazing tricks and tools but I sucked so bad it was almost comical. Every day was almost a new exploration in how creatively I could get myself killed. LOL…
The nice thing was that in sPvP and WvW, almost nobody had a clue how to fight against an Engi. Sadly, I didn’t know how to fight as one so I still ended up losing all the time.
Someone needs to publish the book, GW2 Engineer for Dummies!
Warrior by far and easy to pick up and master.
That’s pretty much what I figured I’d get as a response. The Mesmer, while fun in WvW, just doesn’t add up in PvE or Raiding like the Warrior can.
open world pve may be a bit meh on mesmer.. but “doesn’t add up in raiding”? I’ll have whatever you’re on please.
What I meant was with about the same quality gear, my Warrior feels a bit faster in general PvE. For raids, I’ve read that Warriors are typically picked over a Mesmer.
Warrior by far and easy to pick up and master.
That’s pretty much what I figured I’d get as a response. The Mesmer, while fun in WvW, just doesn’t add up in PvE or Raiding like the Warrior can.
This may be a strange question but I figured I’d toss it out here anyways.
Since coming back to the game, I’ve leveled a Warrior, Ranger, Necro, and a Ele. I’ve also played a bunch on a Guard and a Mesmer in PvP so I think I somewhat have a base idea for most of the classes.
What I’m trying to come up with is a class that is universally effective in all aspects of the game (PvP, WvW, PvE, Raids). I’m not so much concerned about builds (as I’m aware they will change based upon the area of the game) as I am about simply playing one character. I don’t want to have to go back and do the story over or all the exploration I’ve already accomplished.
From what I’ve seen so far, it looks like the Warrior or perhaps, the Mesmer are best suited if I don’t want to do much more than change armor/build based upon whatever part of the game I’m at.
I had wished that I could make the D/D Ele work but outside of PvP, she just doesn’t measure up to what my other characters can do.
What do you all suggest?
Loved the video! Sent you a question on YouTube about your build.
What about running a perplexity build with pretty much all dire (toughness, vitality, conditions)? I’ve seen folks running a chrono version of this and it looks pretty impressive and hard to defeat.
Oh, and I ran into a mesmer with a similar build while roaming on my D/D ele. My ele died so fast…
If I were going to try and level a D/D ele again, is there a suggestion on what I can use if all I have are exotics? Obviously, celestial won’t be an option initially either.
So, after spending a ton of time reading over raiding guides, watching vids, and just trying to get my character ready, I think I’m finally comfortable with trying out some raids in GW2. The problem? Well, I’ve never actually run one before and my achievement score is only about 3K. As such, finding a group isn’t easy and very much reminds me of how some folks were in WoW at times.
That being said, I’m assuming a guild run is probably the only real chance I’ve got to joining a raid run? Are there groups that take on new raiders and help them get more familiar with the mechanics?
Hello again everyone!
So I just started running with a group and taking down the world bosses. The dragons have been some impressive battles and overall, the wold bosses are quite fun. Yet, from the loot they have dropped so far, most of it is just junk that I’ve been salvaging for materials. Is this normally the case or do they actually drop something worth farming them for? I only ask because there was about 40+ of us last night and I figured they can’t all be here for salvage gear.
Great vid! Loved your choice in music too…
Or just use travelers and some valikrie acessorys with the rest being zerker gear weapons and trinkets.
That’s pretty much what I was doing until I got kited around by a thief – A THIEF!
I think I cried after that and went back to playing my pew-pew ranger.
I agree if you know them (maybe by playing it) then they are quite predictable.
That was my gripe about the class initially and why I played most of my time as a Ranger. Still, Warriors have such variety in their builds that they can fit so many different play styles and be successful. You never are in a play where you feel, “Wow… I wish my class could do that.”
Anyways… after playing a Warrior, I love fighting against them as it’s easy to know what they are going to do. Just wait for the telegraph and counter.

I actually didn’t find HoT to be all that difficult – just frustrating. The map design gives me a migraine. That, and the story was pretty – meh… Considering all the hype that went into it, I wasn’t all that impressed and think it hurt the game overall.
Props to you m’friend! I tried so hard to make a decent roaming guard but the lack of mobility just drove me nuts.
Your favorite warrior (not berserker)
Sir Crysis
Crap… what warrior build are you playing to get that high? I run a LB condi build and the best I’ve done is about 600K.
Anyone who still plays a D/D build… You have to be the best if you want to survive.
Just a thought where I agree with the OP (sadly enough):
If you compare GW2 marketing with BDO, you’ll see a clear difference where the BDO marketing is the master of hype. Even though that game has some serious problems, they do a masterful job of tossing out trailers, tidbits of things to come, vague class concepts, etc. On top of this, there is something new from them every few weeks.
Again, while BDO has some issues with the core mechanics, their constant marketing presence keeps them in the news. YouTubers constantly produce more content, gaming sites publish more updates, and folks keep talking about it because we see more hype all the time.
This is something that Anet should consider. More information to the players is always better than the silence. Eventually people get tired of the same old thing w/o any clear idea as to what’s in the future. As such, they start looking around for another game and clearly, there are many publishers just itching at the chance to steal away players.
I wouldn’t even say it was free then. It was just never free. it was a gift for active players at that time
I think what really bothers me the most is that the story for HoT is continued from the events of LWS2. Yet, if you didn’t read through the story or have the ability to actually play it, most of HoT wouldn’t make a great deal of sense. I mean, why would I care about Kaithe or that stupid egg?
I just figured it would unlock once I finished the main story quest line.
Oh well, at least it’s easy to trade gold for the gems.
Just wondering but my berserker warrior is running almost full trailblazer (ish) gear with perplexity runes. I built this as a troll set for WvW simply because it sounded fun at the time. While I don’t play a “meta” build, would this still work if I wanted to try out raiding a bit?
Since you’ve had the game since launch (according to your previous posts), you might have seen/read the statements about logging in to acquire any/all Living World episodes at no cost.
Long story but yeah, I was around back since right after launch but didn’t stick around more than about a year. Saw another “shiny” MMO and figured I’d never come back to GW2. As such, I uninstalled the game, forgot my original email and ultimately had to buy a new account. Life lesson learned I suppose. But to answer you comment, I actually do not remember that statement anywhere.
You can turn gold into gems and buy LWS2 with that method. When you are new, that may seem an unreasonable goal but it really isn’t all that hard to do. Just requires some intense farming and fractals.
That’s a good point and it’s sort of pathetic that I didn’t think of that. I’ve traded gold for gems a few times to buy some cosmetic junk but never thought of just using it to get LWS2. Thanks!

Hello folks!
So I bought the game about a month or so ago and have completed the initial story, HOT, and most of season 3. Yet, what I don’t understand is if I purchased the game, why do I now have to purchase LWS2 as well? Shouldn’t that be part of what I’ve already paid for? Right now, much of the story doesn’t make all that much sense as I’ve had to go online and read up on what I missed.
I really enjoy the game but just don’t understand how a core part of the main story doesn’t come with what I’ve already paid for. I figured that by buying the game, I’d be ale to catch up with everything I’ve missed.
So… I’m just pretty frustrated at the moment and kind of feel a kitteneated.
Wait, I just game back to GW2 the other day and I play on MAG. What happened to my server in WvW? They used to be pretty darn good.
Oh, and Tarnished Coast is now listed as a T4 server? When did that happen?
Strange, last time I was playing GW2, the posts were about how much the warrior sucked and now they are OP? I fought a pretty impressive warrior yesterday on my LB ranger and he didn’t feel OP to me.
This is why I play a hybrid/condi warrior. Necro is a ton of fun to play but the CC/burst potential of the warrior is just amazing.
I’m just returning to the game but I’ve been playing pretty much since release so I’ve seen both classes change a great deal over the years. Still, I tend to believe like others have said that the Necro fills most of the roles you want with relative ease. Their build diversity also makes them fun to play as a full condi/ power +GS, or a hybrid. Heck, I even played as full minion master at times. I would think the only real area that at thief does the job better would be in solo WvW roaming as a necro is pretty limited on mobility unless you are running with a WH.
Currently no, you don’t get any rewards when your server wins.
I’ve heard somewhere that they are going to introduce rewards for when your server wins a skirmish (assuming you participated during the skirmish).
That’s pretty disappointing as I can’t remember how long we asked for better WvW rewards. I still like playing with by group but it would be nice to have some sort of progression to work towards.
Heya folks!
After recently returning to GW2, I noticed that it doesn’t appear there are season rewards anymore like how it used to be. Back then, we got so many points to use to buy hero weapon skins based upon how our sever ended up in the ranking. Is this not the case anymore? If not, is there any real incentive for your server to win each week?
Not sure if anything I add here will help much but I too took a break from GW2 to play BDO as I wanted something new to experience. For me, I think the things that BDO does better than GW2 are listed below. Overall though, GW2 is much more friendly and easy to pick up, play and enjoy. You never really feel forced to do anything.
Areas GW2 could learn from BDO:
1. Graphics, visual overall or “remastered GW2.” I already spoke about this on another forum though.
2. Open world. GW2 has a ton of areas to explore but they are all locked by small zoning portals.
3. Life skills. I actually really enjoy the fishing, training horses, etc.
4. Boats. It may be simple to add at some point but I love the freedom of being able to jump on my boat and sail around the world. I wish GW2 had something like that.
Skipping the drama posts…
I liked the vid and I don’t even play a Ranger that much anymore.
thanks man really appreciate it
hope you play ranger again
Oh, I do at times. I love the class but I’m just better at my hybrid warrior. Learned a ton from the vid though.
As someone who has pretty much played a warrior as a main since beta release, I don’t have a problem with this at all. Warriors can devastate other classes if we can lock them down so having the ability to escape is fair.
It’s a bit embarrassing to use DX9 in 2017. WoW switched to 10 back in 2010 for instance…
That is part of my point as well. The game is fun to play and has good bit going for it but the visuals, even at the highest settings, aren’t that impressive. I have been considering using an EMB but that only goes so far.
That sucks! I used to nolife PvP as I just loved it. The rewards were just an added bonus as it was the best way for me to gear up. Ugh… I hate fractals.
Thanks for all the info folks!
PvP: This season is a disaster. The rewards are iffy at best, it seems pretty dead to me. I am not a dedicated PvPer though, so someone else can likely answer this one better.
.PvP this season has the best implementation and the worst participation.
Basically the devs fixed all of the exploit and crap from previous seasons, but the hype is long dead so nobody cares. The fact that the rewards where nerfed into a joke removed any incentives.
What happened to the rewards? I remember before leaving that you could only get enough points for a few ascended items and really couldn’t finish the set. It was pretty frustrating if you loved doing PvP.
Heya folks,
I’ve been away from the game for about 3 months now and while I’ve spent a good bit of time trying to catch upon the forums, I’m feeling like I’m somewhat lost as to the current state of the living world, PvP, and WvW.
Would any of you be willing to give me a quick update on what I’ve missed and what I should be looking for now?
Thanks!
Well, here is an example of what I’m talking about for two of my characters with one being from GW2 and the other from BDO. Course, GW2 is a much more relaxed and enjoyable game to play in many areas.
world of warcraft did a “remaster” but only for the playable characters. Full HD taurens.. they became kinda kreepy though
You bring up a good point. I’m not sure I could handle the sight of a HD Asura (aka Rat Goblin).
Even with it’s flaws, I think it’s safe to say that GW2 is generally recognized by most (players and gaming sites) as being a top-quality game with a large appeal and a very unique niche. I think though that as we look and see other games coming out and some currently on the market, more and more are moving away from the more “cartoonish” art style/animations to something more realistic.
GW2 would be more competitive if they updated it with a fresh coat of paint.
So … relatively speaking if you had to spend three months, would you choose something that was close to invisible (character customization) or something more visible (several maps, story, etc) to the players?
When you look at the competition, I would think this would be worth the investment as it would bring new life into the game, make it more competitive of a product, and bring with it a ton of publicity.
It would also make other games in production look that much less relevant when they would be forced to compete against a AAA MMO like GW2 that is now fully remastered into the latest quality of visuals effects.

I don’t remember which one, but there was a game that could be downloaded with 2 different graphical engines, but still play online together. Maybe something like that would work. A “current” model, and a “Full HD” model.
There is that option or the other which is basically a remastered “version” available for download which has the same core concept of the current GW2 but just adds the updated visuals. That way, players can pick which one they want to run on their PC.
Think of it sort of like Skyrim remastered I guess? Both have the same content but one just looks better and fixed some of the bugs.
Heck, if Anet was to produce this as an optional Xpack, I’d buy it even at the full retail. To me, it would be worth it.
