Should there be an in-game LFG tool? Yes.
Are they working on one? Yes.
Is there an alternative while we wait? Yes.
Are there guilds a plenty to run dungeons with that completely negate the need of a LFG tool? Yes.
So you decided to leave the game because you couldn’t be bothered to use a simple & useful tool or join a guild to achieve your goals? I don’t get it.

Never felt powerful on my Ranger. Felt like a sly hunter, but never especially powerful.
Feel super strong with my Engineer. There’s something empowering about a tiny Asura burning down enemies with a flamethrower. Or ’sploding them with a Big ’ol Bomb and then dragging their body back to me only to be pummeled with a giant wrench. heheheh…good times.
Necro…nah, didn’t feel strong or even like an aspect of death. Just felt like I spread disease and ran around in a panic trying not to get swatted until my conditions eventually broke em down. Like that guy in a movie who’s being chased and just throws whatever’s around at his attacker while panicking.
Guardian felt pretty strong & sturdy. Could take a beating and still be standing at the end.
Thematically, I certainly feel more powerful compared to GW1. I can roam the world alone and handle creatures, veterans, and even sometimes champions without the aid of annoying henchmen. I shouldn’t have to hire mercenaries to protect me…I am the Hero of Shaemoor!
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Prophecies was my favorite, hands down. The expacs were great because they added new zones & new classes. But nothing ever felt as good as Prophecies, running FoW and UW and Tombs. Once the expacs came out the population felt too spread out. Eye of the North rekindled that love of the original game, going back to that lore and feel. If you want to experience the expac classes, go for it. I highly recommend the Dervish. If not, get EotN for the HOM rewards in GW2 at the least.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Don’t sweat it Meta. It took me a while and a forum poster to point it out to me before I noticed it too. It’s pretty subtle and isn’t explained in the game’s tutorial. However, once you know about it, you can’t miss it.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
it’s just you. RNG stands for random number generation
I just wanted to say. There is no such thing as a true RNG. If someone plays a slot machine in Vegas. It is required by law to pay out a certain percentage over a 24hr period. It all a computer algorithm.
I bet if someone does the BLC close to the end of the servers daily reset. The odds may be higher based on if few skins have dropped earlier.
You can’t compare a video game to Vegas man. There is no law that requires in game RNG to pay you anything ever. It’s a digital dice roll.

Personally, I’m glad Anet did underwater combat the way they did…no breath timers being the biggest positive. They put enough content that made underwater more than just diving for kelp & mining nodes.
Having said that, I kinda hate it.
Not just because the skill choices are generally cut in half. I like the addition of underwater weapons, but (for instance) not being able to use my Flamethrower kit underwater when I built my character around it on land is quite a hogtie. But mostly, it’s the movement. The terrestrial combat is so movement heavy, but underwater everything feels sluggish. Not to mention the Z axis. I’m sure it’s not true for everyone, but the Z axis makes it hard to get lined up on an enemy sometimes. I think I’m in melee range, but it turns out I’m slightly below them.
These are my 2 issues to underwater combat. Sluggish, awkward movement and skill restrictions.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
They’re constantly adding new exotic weapon skins. New exotic (or any level!!) armor skins are much needed. Levels 1-50 you’ve got very few armor choices. Most aren’t available till 80 and by now they’re nothing special.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
For armor gallery I prefer this site: http://www.gw2armorgallery.com/
As for lore, I’ve always felt human fits the best. Norn are big & hulking so they look good in the heavy armor, but this selfless warrior protector just doesn’t fit. Norn are out for glory. And the Charr are pure warriors. Sylvari I could see lorewise as Guardian…they’re a pretty altruistic race. My 1st Guardian was Sylvari but I rerolled human cuz I like the armor look better.
Good luck.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Do engineers have good DPS without using kits?
So that i can use my weapon skills and the rest for healing turret and elixers?
At this stage in Engineer development, no. An engineer without a kit is a weak engineer. The pistol/rifle/shield skills are fantastic. But they aren’t enough to dps. That’s what grenades, bombs, wrenches, and flamethrowers are for. Keep in mind though that having 1 kit is the same as typical weapon swapping on any other profession, only without the annoying cooldown. So I can’t see why you wouldn’t want to bring a kit along. It’d be like only having one weapon set equipped on your mesmer.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Here’s how I think about it. Right now at 58 you aren’t happy with your toon. Are you going to be even less happy at 80? Will you be less liekly to reroll after putting even more money & time into it? Ditching 58 levels sucks, so does the gold you put into it. But if you aren’t going enjoy it, why keep it? On the other hand, could you learn to live with it, learn to love it? Go to the PvP armor locker & preview everything on your character. Are there sets that you love on your Asura? There are some fantastic looking non-legendaries out there too.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
One other thing that might be helpful in your quest. From your questions, I get the feeling you played that other popular MMORPG that I won’t mention. So did I. But GW2 is intentionally not not like that game. So throw out your preconceptions & expectations and enjoy the ride that is GW2. Its world is beautiful. The professions are uniquely crafted, the trait system is superior to those old talent trees, the races are original, and the lore is fantastic. I hope your computer is decent because with the sliders up, you can totally just explore Tyria without killing anything and just enjoy the view. Don’t be afraid you’ll miss content either, because the auto-scaling means you can do everything everywhere in your own time and it’ll all still be relevent.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
What’s the prefix on the piece that dropped for you in fractals?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Guardians are 90% melee. Ranged weapons are staff (midrange & support based) and scepter (lol). As a melee profession, they’re really good. They get my vote. Just don’t expect to play at range.
In my opinion, your ranged options are Ele, Necro, Ranger, Mesmer, Warrior, Engineer. The other classes have ranged options, but none good for staying in them for actual fighting. Their mostly control or support or movement tools.
Engineer is one of my favorite professions, but you’ve already said you don’t want one. Had to mention them though cuz of my own personal bias. No matter what anyone says about their abilities, you can’t deny the overwhelming fun-factor of playing with explosives & flamethrowers.
Necro & Ranger do have that pet issue, although you can choose not to with Necro. Ranger pets got a significant buff Monday so if you can micromanage the pet, you should deal some serious damage. Also, they make leveling easy imo.
Mesmer is (as I understand it) difficult to level until about 30-40. But they’re really great classes for dungeons & WvW. Even with the quickness nerf last month, they still have one of the best elites in the game.
Warriors are generally a melee class, however they can use longbows & rifles, giving them long ranged options. They’re really good in PvE and dungeons. From what I understand, not so great in PvP.
Ele are very dynamic and viable in every aspect of the game. Like mesmers, they take some skill playing them at low levels. Actually, they take skill playing them well at all levels.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
(edited by Seras.5702)
Actually, if you want to sport a Legendary, I’d think the lack of a weapon swap would be a good thing for ele. Weapon swapping gives you 2 sets of 1-5 skills. Attunement swapping gives you 4 sets. That’s 2x as many skills and you still get to show off your Legendary weapon. I mention this because of your shallow comment.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
It’s designed to reward you for playing just as if it weren’t there. Just play the game. You’ll probably do 4 of the items within 30 mins without even knowing it.
Give it a glance & see underwater kills is on there. Oh, well then I’ll do that kill-krait heart that I still need for world completion now. It’s really easy. Stop trying to do it and just play.
Also, the only reason I do dailies is for the laurels. If you don’t want/need laurels, don’t do the dailies.
If you’re sub-80, doing the dailies are a better source of XP than a heart. So it’s actually a great leveling tool. Which makes it more than just a chore thing for a luarel…it’s a valid in-game goal.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Which race looks better in heavy armor? Female Norn or female Human?
Edit: I went with human. Norn have some fugly faces.

Greetings Geniuses…Now engineer is in my opinion not an option for obvious reasons…
Not obvious to me. I tried all 3 professions and Engi is the one I like the most, has the most versatility, and isn’t boring to play. However, if it’s truly not an option (inconceivable!)…
I say Ranger. Seeing a tiny Asura flipping around constantly is fun for a while, but you can’t see tiny daggers on tiny Asura. Now a mini Ranger with a big bear pet just seems awesome.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Anyone know what the new Jetpack looks like on Asura? I’m thinking it’s gonna look great on my Engi.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
…I love my Asura Guardian, and always will. I did, for a bit, try to make a human Guardian, and I got him to 80, but it felt so different. There’s something about an Asura with a Hammer banishing a Norn or Charr that feels so satisfying.
Exactly why when I get around to rolling a warrior he’s going to be Asura.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
In open world PvE you’ll probably never out-dps a warrior who’s playing properly.
Our flamethrower and grenades are really fantastic, but not until you trait into them. So you’ll need to be lvl 60+ for the Grenadier trait and Juggernaut. Also, FT has some great traits that reduce cooldowns and increase damage.
Rifle is never going to be great on its own. It has some nice control and is better than pistols if you’re running power over conditions. But you have to supplement it with a kit (or 2).
Honestly, I think all of our kits are completely viable and good fun for leveling PvE. ToolKit and Bombs are like our melee. Grenades are our long range kit. Elixir Gun is way useful for support and conditions.
Elixirs have a lot of traits that make them extremely useful to fill in any aspect that you find deficient. You want a damage boost, Elixir B. You want projectile reflect and quick rezzes, Elixir U. You want stun breaks and invulnerability, Elixir S.
As Ramethzero said, have a plan and build around it. Decide if you want to be power or condition. This will nail down how to gear. Then choose what’s most fun within that constraint. Some kits fit both (like grenades).
As to your desire for support, here are some great tools we have:
- Net turret (with its toolkit): immob
- Rocket turret: overcharge knockback
- ToolKit: traited it will cripple your target almost 100% during autoattack. Also, has cripple #2 skill. Also has great pull skill.
- Healing turret: aoe regen, condition removal, & water field (which rocks with warrior’s constant blast finishers)
- Elixir B (toss): buff your party
- MedKit: drop healing kits pre-fight to help your allies during battle
Obviously, there are a ton more but that’s just some of the easier ones that don’t require much traiting or special set-up. Experiment. Decide what your group is lacking and build accordingly. Engis are a versatile profession that basically lets us do just that. Not many professions can.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Now we know why Scope has never been fixed.
The devs obviously don’t test out the Engi. All it takes is to go to the Mists and hit a golem a few hundred times. But nope, apparently we’re doing their job for them.
I’ve been thinking this for a while now. The bug lists are all player-generated and there are a lot of them. Every time I see a possible bug mentioned on the forum and there’s a dev response, it’s a “please add this to the bugs list, send in a support ticket, thanks for letting us know, huh we had no idea.” Cheapest QA department is the paying players I guess.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I don’t want to tell anyone to not play a particular profession. But elementalist is one of the harder ones to master, especially at low levels before you have access to all your skills & traits. So be preparred to put some effort into this profession (not to say you aren’t).
I found that, on the few times I’ve messed around with ele at low levels, that earth & water attunements worked best. Fire does great damage, so you can open up with that, but constantly swapping attunements is key, especially with earth giving you defense and water giving you access to heals & chills. Dodging is key in this game. No matter your armor or vitality or spec, you dodge an attack, it deals zero damage. Stay mobile, dish out conditions like blind, cripple, chill.
If you truly want to enjoy this game but just don’t like ele or your experience with an ele, don’t be discouraged. Try another profession. Guardian, warrior, and ranger are super easy to level in open world PvE. Try one of them and you might find the learning curve more forgiving. I did. I played Ranger & Guardian for a while before I tried my hand at Engineer. Now I love my Engi but know I wouldn’t have been able to play it effectively if it were the 1st profession I tried.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
The 50% reduction is only to the inital heal on drop. But now we have a solid aoe condtion cleanse and water field. The turret is supposed to be dropped at the start of battle to provide on-going regen for the whole party. It’s not meant to be an “o-crap” self-heal. However, you can overcharge it & then detonate it for a blast finisher heal. It’s just not instant.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
(edited by Seras.5702)
most slow class 100% not have blink/ chardge +1 kill elexir S stupid gadget not used turels(in www) after patch moust suck klass arena TY you kill engi
I don’t even….huh???
Near constant swiftness is important to me. So I trait Speedy Kits in like every build. Being able to keep up with a zerg, maneuver in & out of range, escape red rings, and just run to the next point quickly is so useful. If you run a multi-kit build you’re guaranteed to swap for swiftness in-combat.
Not to mention our medkit #5 & elixir B.
Wish the Tools grandmaster trait for increased in-combat speed weren’t a 30 pointer.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I think hideable boots is better than gloves anyhow. A lot of boots look awkward on Charr & Asura.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Alts are fun. I have 5 alts of various levels aside from my main 80. They add variety to your play. I love my engineer, but sometimes I want to play mesmer for something completely different. Back to low levels, different race, fewer traits, still learning the ins-and-outs. Less pressure and casual.
Also, if you log on simply to bang out the dailies, use an alt. The bonus XP for each portion of the dailies is very nice.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
People drop Rocket Turret & Net Turret & Rifle Turret & Thumper Turret in anticipation of a fight. Why is Healing Turret any different? Why are people using it as an immediate, on-demand heal? Shouldn’t it be dropped ahead of time like the other turrets too?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Wow I didn’t know SAB ate up months of 8 developers time. That really puts into perspective where all the effort in this game goes too lol. That is really disheartening.
Lol its disheartening to know that they are putting effort into their work? That they are spending the time to make things that people like?
Do you not realize that development takes a lot of time? From concept to implementation requires a lot of team cooperation and man hours, even for something as simple as SAB. You have initial design to think about – how it will function, how it will look, how it interacts with existing design elements. Then you have initial coding – which there’s a lot more to than many people think. Testing…then more coding….more testing, etc and so on until the final push to the live servers. For non-developers, this probably doesn’t seem like a lot or even like it’s all that much work, but it is. It really is.
I think the complaint is that 8 developers spent months working on (admitedly fun) temporary content instead of fixing the numerous bugs that the community and devs know about. There are core mechanics that exist permanently in the game that continue to go unattended. I know Anet has various teams, each focusing on their own thing. But why would you skimp on a team that can’t fix bugs that have been present since launch (ie – engineer scope trait) and affect permanent everyday play, but instead create temporary content? That is the complaint.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
- Guard & Sick Em I’ve never found a use for Guard and Sick Em to take up a slot on my 3 utility bar and these changes don’t do anything to make me want to use them.
Guard & Sic Em have some functionality beyond the simple tooltip that actually make them quite useful.
Guard gives stealth & protection (as the tooltip says) but it also sends your pet to a location & it will stay there for 3 mins or until recalled. This offers a form of control. The prot is a nice spike defense if your pet is in range of an impending aoe attack.
Sic Em increases pet damage by 40%. Use this before a Jaguar pounce or a Raven swoop and you’ll net some pretty hefty damage. Also, the speed increase makes it much easier for melee pets to hit moving targets, which results in more than the 40% damage increase because more hits are landing.
Just food for thought.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Well if you’re looking for something to do that’s something more than just more ach pts, roll an alt of every profession and do some PvP or WvW with them. It will be a unique experience with new professions.
This is all assuming you don’t have 8 80s.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
A level cap increase will probably happen eventually. I hope no time soon though. This game is still quite alive and dynamic at 80. A level cap increase will not provide anything positive at this time.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
…Healing turret. They said “heal slightly reduced”.. 50% is kittening slightly? Healing turret is now even more useless than before.
You missed the point of the change. If you want a burst heal, use H. This is now improved to function the way it was initially designed. It’s supposed to be a constant source of regen/healing. Drop it and have a water field like 75% of the time. Blast away in it for massive aoe healing. And the overcharge heals more than it used to. They’re trying to make it more useful as it’s designed, rather than drop it, destroy it.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Signets got love all around. Guardian weps & spirits too. Engis have gadgets with obscenely long cooldowns. Those could have been easy fixes that would have fit with the general theme of this patch.
The healing turret changes everyone’s talking about are a pretty big buff. It sounded like their goal was to make it so that the turret was worth leaving up, but that certainly didn’t happen…still, turret builds are inching closer and closer to viability. Now if they only shot at real targets instead of gates, clones, etc…
The summoned allies and pets AI got a buff. Maybe this will apply to turret AI too.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Nothing too drastic other than Healing Turret being really good now. Short CD water field on demand? Yes plz. Lol, there goes the only great thing Rangers had over everyone else.
Elixir U (don’t dis the Russians yo) is better now, just like everyone’s Quickness skills. A good fix considering the outcry from the Quickness nerf last month.
Seems like the devs really love internal cooldowns on our traits. The KR indicator is probably not going to make it more popular. ICDs ugh. Also, the Incendiary Powder trait got a few changes but I can’t tell if it’s now better, worse, or the same. Thoughts?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I used to play Ranger. It got boring and I hated all the negativity surrounding it. PLus, I felt like only 1/4-1/3 of my utilities were any good.
I now main an Engineer & I can tell you it is fulfilling, I am useful to a group, and I can dish out some serious damage, and still stay alive.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Human & Norn women are beautiful in this game. Though I don’t like the female Norn voice acting.
Female Sylvari look great too, just not in your typical human-esque way.
Warrior & Ranger are easy to play professions that will let you PvE & level well. Rangers have an issue in dungeons with their pets dying w/o micro-management. Warriors (as I understand it) aren’t good in PvP.
Guardians are another great beginner class because they have a ton of heals & damage mitigation so you have outs if you mess up. Very little ranged options so you’ll be 90% melee here.
Engineer & Elementalist are harder to play well, but if you do I think they’re incredibly rewarding. My main is an Engi and I had to play other professions 1st to get the hang of GW2’s combat mechanics before I was able to be proficient at being an Engi. That’s just me though.
Mesmers are another profession that have a higher skill cap but are really good all around (PvP, PvE, WvW, dungeons). I’ve heard that they take a bit of effort at lower levels (sub-30 I believe) but become quite dynamic at later levels. I just rolled one and am anxious to see what they can do from my perspective.
Good luck!
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Kill the Vets. Ignore the others (if you can). I think they’re the only ones you have to kill. The others just respawn forever.
Bring condition removal.
Bring swiftness/vigor. You want to be able to outrun baddies when they pile up on you.
Work in a circle. If you get a group killed (and hopefully there are some NPCs still alive) work your way around the circle systematically rescuing NPCs and gathering a small army.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Power isn’t a bad stat. Our attacks deal damage as well as conditions; grenades have multiple explosions that can spread vuln if traited, pistol auto explodes and (if traited) pierces which can be a nice aoe wep.
I’ve been using Rampager gear which is Power, Precision, Cond Damage and then supplementing my survivability with Vit & Tough accessories.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I’m not feeling this one, sorry. We already have grenades for ranged explosives. And with the timed aspect of bombs I don’t see this being very easy to use.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Wait, you guys really think a pbaoe blind on a weapon that requires close range is a bad thing? And it has no cast time so it can be used when stunned. It needs a slightly larger range, but otherwise, I like the skill. I use it a lot.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Rocket Boots are why Elixirs are far superior to Gadgets.
And the elixir traits
And the shorter cooldowns
The devs got Rocket Boots right the first time. It’s just that they put it on the EG and called it Acid Bomb. Amiright?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
One potential solution I just thought of: let the CD timer start ticking as soon as the turret is placed. Only 1 instance of a turret can exist at a time so dropping it again if already active would destroy the old one. This would allow more turret mobility.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
All through leveling I wanted to bring a turret (or 2) but never did because of one thing: lack of mobility. They have long cooldowns that make them less user-friendly when open world roaming. Constantly having to pick what survived up to keep the CDs low is annoying and slow. And with them dying often, the CDs are generally the full duration.
It’s the same reason I never brought spirits with my Ranger. Anything that gets dropped & can be targeted and easily destroyed should have a shorter CD. Especially if they don’t follow you.
I played Shaman in WoW (yes, I’m bringing up that game…groans to follow). And while GW2 does just about everything better than WoW, the one thing I liked was the short CDs on frequently dropped totems. Now, WoW had mana as a resource management that kept people from spamming them. So I understand the need for CDs in GW2. But for something that doesn’t move and dies fairly easily, a CD reduction would be nice. Maybe no CD for picked up turrets. Annoying to have to pick em up, but it’s a start.
Having said all that, I can’t speak to specifics regarding turrets because (as I said) I don’t use em. But I’d like to. One thing I have noticed is that they tend to have their traits scattered throughout the trees.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
of course they’ll still be there. the only things that will disappear are Moto & the SAB itself. Even the skins on the TP will remain.
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)

(edited by Seras.5702)
I started strong, running the SAB W1Z1-2 with dig spots across my characters. But after a couple days it became too grindy & i couldn’t force myself to do it as often. I could be richer now if I had, but enjoyment is my foremost goal in GW2. That being said, my final totals are
- 1 backpack skin bought with BBs
- 3 weapon skins bought with BBs
- 2 drops that I sold on the TP
- 50 BBs sitting in my bank. anticipating a pistol for next time around so I can’t decide if I should save em or spend em on 1 last skin (since they’ll be gone permanently after today).
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
For the finale, I hope the SAB glitches (as Asura gadgets often do) and traps a prominent GW2 figure inside. Panic ensues. Women weep. Children cower. Men wilt. We are then to venture within to rescue said victim from the clutches of 8-bit-itude.
