+1 to create custom arena for gvg deathmatch.
I am playing in the GvG scene since 8 mounths, i have a guild that raid 3-4 times at week, been able to bring at least 15 people every evening to play. And you know, we are not the only one, i can tell many many guilds able to organize people constantly cuz people are really interested in this game play.

Some tags that we face daily, many we managed to organize gvg (at least 1 at week) in these 8 mounths without a pvp matchmaking support: TA, TUP, AT, BULL, OBB, DA, DR, SOD, CORE, NR, SOUL, PAIN, CS, WIPE, FRAG, IF, GH, SOC, KICK, MAD, CC, SLAY, IO, GROU, dR, PONY, Kale, VII, SFRJ, AV, GCEF, eR, WAR, BSO, vE, FL, RT, LRS, VAI, wdr, DIS, RD, KYSA, XT, RE, LAG, ELY, RioT, dF, AKGL, BomB, USA, TSO, How, SO, TT (well this one is more for the blob playing sorry TT XD XD).

You see is more than 50 guilds that i could mention, considering these guild are been pick fromn those 5-6 servers that we usualy face (thx RNG server wvw system), but i am sure there’s a lot more between EU servers that we never faced, and sorry if i didnt mention any, i cant remember all and i cant play with my guild in every server, but let me say guys i love any guild raid/gvg member who contribuite to make this game so enjoyable, even after 3 years i am still improving my gameplay, my comunications and my relationship during fights with you.

Now if i have to say what those guilds do every evening during raid, most of them do what my guild usualy do: roaming with at least 15 people well organized, looking for scrim or arranging GvG. We usualy have at least one official scrim every night, arranging numbers of players, timer to start, round wins etc..

Really is not possible to create a matchmaking for this gameplay? Are you kidding me? These guilds can go play their wvw RAID on borderlands, untill the matchmaking queue for the 15vs15 or 20vs20 pop ups, then the fifteen people of the chosen roster by leader will be ported to a OS like arena, starting the timer for the 5 rounds against an other guild from any server who queued for the GvG. Lets say we could also set a time for the matchmaking open, from 20:00 CET to 24:00 CET (the usual raid time and the time where all the guilds i mentioned before are able to rally at least 15 people, and it’s established that ALL THOSE GUILDS i mentioned are able to, cuz i see them every night)

Those are my ideas to make GvG happens, and the number of GvG guild could really increase, with leaderboards, a ranking system matchmaking based on scores etc….

I know this can be seen as an ambitious system and Arenanet is scared to invest in this, but i think would be so much innovative in the MMO panorama, plz dont let your fantastic fight Group game die in a mere PVE / PVP game, cuz it dont deserve it.

Talking for me, i would have left GW2 much time ago if it wasnt for the GvG scene. I think many people left because of the way this gamemode has been let inconsiderate (many of my friends), I’ll probably have to switch to BDO if this cant become reality, and i really dont want cuz BDO combat system sux! I love GW2 combat system and i say it’s made for a 15v15 /20v20 deathmatch gamemode, so any member of the guilds i mentioned and everyone is interested in this, pump up!

i totaly agree with the topic opener.
I see warrior so bad if not playing with shoutbow. Regardless i am still playing GS axe warrior cuz i dont like the monkey meta build, really is so unskilled.
Aniway i think burst shouldnt be possible to blind, i mean condi damage is already OP cuz is able to heavy damage me even if i should be high tanky class, cuz is ignoring my armor, but after that even be able to blind the burst skill that required so much to prepare with adrenaline is so lame.
Really other class have already many way to avoid burst (dodge/immobilize/stun/kiting/teleporting and considering every high damage burst of warrior has so easy animation to spot) why they should even be able to blind the burst, me as a warrior i cant blind mesmer shatter burst or thief backstab, why they should be able?
The thing is that this silly condition called blind, really have higher effect on warrior cuz of his slow skills animation. Just REMOVE THE BLIND SPAM or SET BURST SKILLS IMMUNE TO BLIND thx.

the fact is that it activate when you already lost. beeing less than 25% means condition will kill you, so only thing it works endure pain is to run away when it proc.
Still is a kitten trait, i only use it cuz is immediately after armored attack that i really really want cuz is giving me at least 300 more power.
Comparing to mesmer, with illusionary invigoration they can kittenain when they go below the 50% Hp. Adding the fact that this trait is not even a grandmaster trait, and that it doesnt recharge only the F4 but also all other shatter skills, and the fact that distorsion make mesmer invulnerable to conditions too or any hits like stun, should help people understand how poor is defy pain trait.

Mesmer is a ranged class and because of that he doesnt really need that much stability like warrior who is playing melee and getting all the stuns much easier, and warrior has really slow time skill activating, means is much more easy to interrupt than mesmer without stability.
But even considering that, mesmer has more stability than warrior even without have to use any utility, cuz the distortion is in fact a stability itself (that cant even be removed like by the lame thief dazing me when i am finishing with stab!!!). Now lets consider with illusional invigoration, mesmer with best clone combo can have 6 second of distortion in 60 seconds (comparing to warrior, means have 6 seconds of endure pain, 6 seconds of berserker stance and 6 seconds of balance stance, but a balance stance that cant be removed). And all this is in the hand of the mesmer without even have to waste any utility or having to use more than a major trait!!
Adding to this, mesmer has also blurred inscription, for extra endurepain/berserkerstance/balancestance alias distortion, and a sword skill giving him extra distortion.

So comparing these 2 class and comparing the fact warrior recieve much MOOOAR CC/condi/damage than mesmer cuz he is a kittening melee with no teleportation/disappearing/dodging ecc…., defy pain is totaly a troll trait.

What could be done to make it decent? make it like a distortion! like merging berserker stance and endure pain and balance stance into Defy pain trait.

Why do people hate EOTM?

I dont hate eotm, i really enjoy a map where you can actualy go easy kill all those pvers, even if i dont do that very often, i am not so evil.
Sometime i would like those things to happen in pve too, like my guild go raid on SW and kill all that pve blob farming would be fun^^.
So i neither understand why EOTM is so hated.

Also the thumper turret should have an easy animation before actualy dropping the CC, like the hammerstun or skill five hammer of the warrior.
Something like become illuminated or opening one second before stun.

Making turrets vulnerable to conditions wouldnt make much sense.
Its okay if they recieve critical damage, but wtf conditions XD. Condition build are already too much OP in this game, that they really already counter easily burst class, why they should counter turret too.
The main problem with engi turret is the TONS of CC he can do and the hp of the turrets.
Just reduce turret’s HP and make the thumper’s attack cd longer.

First of all, i am a warrior playing GS axe/shield like a true melee lover, and i wont change my build only cuz the actualy meta see the warrior as a kittenty healing/cleanse bot. And i can say its really frustrating playing it, your opponent must be completely kittened to not dodge the only 3 skills that can definetly hurt him, plus those 3 skills really have an eaaasy animation to be spotted way early before they hit.
AND I HATE BOW!! Really i think is not a warrior weapon, i mean come on is supposed to be a warrior, not a legolas wannabe.

I totaly agree that the actual warrior skills and low dps with melee weapons force him to use a bow when the opponents start kiting to try to keep it up with dps, bow easy hit from distance and force the opponent to dodge even if the warrior isnt in melee range. What i think it should be changed to make the warrior again a melee class?
Many things, but watching your list i agree with no one of your changes XD XD XD.
First of all, the eviscerate range 600 would be OP and not fitting a true melee.

I think the real problem is not in the warrior, but in the fact condition in this game makes the warrior in pvp not funny to play, it should be supposed to be a heavy burst class, but there’s so many condition that people can drop on you, especialy during group fights like weakness, blind chill immobilize cripple that force the warrior asking the opponents “when i can attack?” cuz seems is the opponent choosing when the warrior can attack, not the warrior himself.

Here is what i would change aniway:
1) Actualy i am watching the utility warrior have, and i see i am forced to use balance stance (cuz i am melee and its much more easy be stunned as a melee than a ranged/disappearing class) and berserker stance (so at least for 8seconds i can choose when attack), and this is the main problem of the low diversity of build you can actualy do with warrior. Should add more utility movements “like a dodging aoe” or a big leap on your foe ignoring daze and co" and remove those ridicoulous utility like banners, they are so useless.

3) This is related to the fact melee need more stability than ranged, but plus warrior has very slow skills to activate, i never use mace cuz really guys, is so badly slow! Even the GS autoattack wtf is hitting once every 3 attacks cuz the opponent just need to move a little. Only axe main hand skills are enjoyable.

2) the traits in general are in bad lines, means i am forced to use at least 4 trait in defence (that i really dont want cuz warrior already have armor) only to get what? an anti condition trait that really works properly only with bow: cleansing ire.
Other traits where will go? Off course in Discipline, cuz warrior can hit once every 5 attacks that i am forced to fast up the burst recharge, and swap weapons cuz i already used my 5 skills all with kittenty high CD and i need that “fast hands” else i can only autoattack before beeing able to swap weapon.

3) Again, in defence line there’s another OP trait that should be removed, “armored attack”, converting 10% of your togness to power, this alone can give you more power than 6 lines on strenght line!!!! So just remove this trait and change with something else, so you have to chose if you want to be tanky or dps, NOT BOTH! Cuz this is actualy forcing every build of the warrior to go straight to 6 trait on defence no matter if he is a tanky or a dps!

4) CLeansing ire actualy works properly only with bow, cuz you are sure to hit with bow (with the aoe), so should be changed like this: Remove a condition for every bar of adrenaline spent, not triggering with an hit but just with the usage. This should set every burst skill at the same level for each weapon warrior have, and not setting the bow as the main cleanser. Also, i would trade place of CI with dogged march, so that okay? you want a cleanser? no problem you have to spend 2 traits on defence, but not forcing you to be a tank only to have a clean!

5) Speed UP many weapons for the autoattack like mace and hammer and GS, or in case increase the aoe range they can hit from 130 to 260 for the last 2. Again why you prefer bow? cuz while waiting for CD you still have a decent autoattack that still can do damage.

6) There’s already many class abusing conditions, and forcing warrior to use bow to adapt to the condi meta kitten really makes this game poor. i would remove bow from warrior kitten nal to be fair, just to see how many people would still playing this class XD XD XD

I think that having more things to do than the available player is what makes this new map interesting. 10vs10 would mean that all roles are covered at the same time and strategic decision would be less important

You mean like soccer, football, rugby are unorganizable zergfests with multiple players for the same role etc?!?

Well he probably not know about many guilds in wvw able to organize every evening more than 20 players, and organizing scrim between opponent guild on the moment ^^

Aniway talking about the strategy in a 10v10 scenario, i think with this many numbers you would always need a leader telling who does that specific role in that specific situation, i see already chaotic rotations in a 5v5 scenario in normal pvp unranked games, with insults to people going far or beast at begin, not waiting for regroup etc…, doing an unranked 10v10 stronghold would be totaly random and increase the hate between players.

I think 10v10 would suit more for ranked and organized guilds, nor unranked.
Talking about the “coverage” of the many things you have to do in stronghold map, i believe too 5v5 is often driving people in 1v1 duels around the map, but i think this is also because of the actual meta builds, made for fighting in a circle and not for speed tactical movements. I think we would see more warrior GS able to run to one side to another of the map, or good usage of portals. So no definetely some build will have to be rewiew, i cant see a bow warrior running like a chiken not be able to do the necessary damage. Lets say maybe we will be all with roaming wvw builds^^.

So in conclusion, i enjoyed 5v5 unranked but yea it seems a little empty, but i think 10v10 should be add only in ranked or custom maps, forcing people organize in guilds or groups instead of running random team made on the moment with the perfect meta composition doesnt make everyone happy, especialy random players. Or well, if this is the problem, just give the option to chose the mode 10v10, 8v8 or 5v5.

Oh yea i forgot: something i noticed too, in pvp i watch more often my skills CD, and not caring that much about the positioning of the opponent, in GvG is more i am counting the CD of the skills in my mind since it is more importante watching the positions of the enemies and the opponent train movements. GvG seems to me more faster and, somehow more modern. Still, i dont really care what people prefer, but dont bore me with the kitten talking of the pvp skill is higher or something like that, cuz getting a guild group running properly requires much more effort and time than you think.

I dont know why you are even comparing pvp to gvg, first of all pvp can be trained much more easier, since organizing a pvp match doesnt require the partecipation of 20 people at the same time. Second time, its just another game: i am not saying i dont like pvp, i have played it a lot and could reach a decent level and I can say PvP probably requires more personal skill (not that much in real, you can die much more easy in GvG, and in PvP rotation is even more important than personal skill), but I still prefered to focus on the gvg scene since it is much more fun to me to play with more people and really feels me part of the group.
Maybe this second part is the reason of the hate of the PVP lovers, since they cant find a gvg group where they can fit.

If anything, the ppt population is the smallest in wvw. Almost everyone in WvW likes fights in some way. Very few people(eotm heros or yaks bend) like to only ppt and sit in a tower all day, ignoring fights and playing with acs to ward back to enemy. You should play more wvw and youd realize how many guilds are actually there.

You do know there is a MASSIVE difference between wanting fights and “GvGing” right?

I dont really know what you like, but i can only say one thing: if it wasnt for gvg scene, this game was already death for me one year ago.
Having a guild playing togheter and create the synergy between 20 people is one of the best thing i found in this game, and its really sad that arenanet cant support a gametype of this kind. Probably if it was well supported by Arenanet we would be much more than the 2000 people loving it that you are mentioning, even people like you that probably havent a guild supporting it and cant play GvG properly would love the gameplay.

Talking about the “zergfest” definition, thats wvw and its kinda different from GvG we are actualy doing, that in fact involves a lot of skill, prolly much different from PvP, cuz is more based on movements and syncrony between the divisions, and its more based on group skill than individual.

just my opinion, but guilds in gw2 have much more players than 5. So, calling a 5v5 fight mode a GvG i cant feel it, you wont be the best guild in GW2 leaderboard, you will just be the best party in the game.
Thats why i’d prefer what everyone is asking, an arena deathmatch in 15+ players for each guild, that would be the only way you can call a Guild Leaderboard. Else, is just another PvP where the big group work that Arenanet is aiming to wont exist. Matching for a 15v15 or more like 20v20 rlly makes the guild working as group, and that would be wonderfull.
