My only thought is that ANet may want people who never go into WvW to attempt going in and maybe they’ll like it and stay.
Then again there’s already World completion in WvW for those people.
I just hope the pve’ers don’t queue the map for the WvW’ers on some servers in important times.
I’ll probably go finish the achievement, but it will be at a time that won’t inconvenience my server.

Looks like BP has some nice momentum going into league.
Well done the past few weeks.

SBI please do better… Please? No one in silver league wants to go up against you. I know you all don’t want to steamroll every week for 7 weeks either. These leagues have been and will continue to be terrible ideas.

We are trying, but the fairweathers have taken a bit of a hit this week against SoR.
It’s hard to take anything against SoR, everything is t3. So we have to pick on SoS a bit.
We can really only have a decent amount of people in EB with our hardcore WvW’ers this week.
Gold or Silver… it’s a lose-lose for us.
I’m sure if it were up to us we would prefer a 4-9 league. It’s not from a lack of trying. SoR outmans us on every map aside from reset night, at all hours of the day.
We do understand what it’s like on the other side of the coin.
We are gaining points this week, one of only a few of the top 10. So we are trying.
If it so happens we fall into silver, I’ll do my best when I’m on not to encourage any poor behavior towards servers that are clearly outmanned.
We honestly just ran out of time to make gold. Was a very poor matchup this week for us. Had we drawn anyone but SoR/JQ/Blackgate, we probably would have been able to gain more points. But those 3 servers lock us down like we do to the servers below us.
I do agree the current league setup is a bit silly. Plenty of servers, whether it be gold/silver/bronze won’t be having a good time. But it’s really no different than the current RNG matchups.

I’m split on a few things.

I would relish nothing more than SBI’s bandwagon making gold and then spectacularly imploding, but not at the expense of Maguuma being put in silver. Not at the expense of SoS either, I do enjoy fighting them too, and they absolutely deserve gold league above SBI.

At this point Mag has been slowly climbing in ratings above SBI, which goes to show which server has a community more stable on their decision to tank or to fight

It’s pretty much a done deal at this point. You guys on Maguuma clearly want it more, and SBI has so many factions pulling in all directions that there is no clear goal over there; and they are losing points because of it. At the current trajectory, SoS will overtake them since we take points from SoR while they try to take from us (Whether or not you play for PPT, it’s important to know how it works).

Maguuma is playing against nobody. It’s not that they want it more. FA is a shadow of their former self and CD is rank 13…
This is what WvW is these days… you’re either getting rolled, or you do the rolling.
The only server we’ve lost to since August is SoR. I don’t think we’re doing so bad.

So, in all honesty the reason why you, SBI, get so much crap is because you do things that no one with any skill in the game actually respects.

You pay for anyone with a pulse to transfer over to your server just so you can zerg down middle-tier servers more effectively.

You admit yourselves to being a bandwagon server on your (publicly-viewable) SBI community forums.

You come to a consensus to intentionally tank your server to silver to appease the bandwagoners and seal-club your way to a worthless finisher. And anyone who doesn’t think this is intentional on the part of SBI doesn’t understand the server ranking system. SBI literally got one of the most valuable match-ups to move them up in points, and Mag got one of the least valuable and, despite this, Mag is currently sitting at the 6 spot above SBI.

Honestly, you don’t belong in gold league because you don’t have the attitude to survive it. You told me in the past match-up thread that my estimation of your server collapsing in about 4 weeks of being subjected to gold match-ups was nonsense because your community was so “tight-knit” and everyone moved to the server before the bandwagoning happened, when in fact you were just lying through your teeth because your primary motivator toward tanking to silver is to protect your bankrolled community from the mass-exodus that would happen in gold. This is all on the open letter on the SBI community forums that anyone from any server can view.

Mag might talk a lot of kitten when it comes to this game, but:

1) It’s all in good fun and entertainment;

2) We can back it up with the skillful fights that other players on different servers can appreciate and enjoy.

We know we’d be way above our coverage level in gold but we don’t care as long as we have constant fights. We also know that such a situation would only serve to make us stronger as a community and a server. And unlike the very small minority of people on SBI who express this sentiment, it’s a majority consensus on our server. In fact, a number of clans on Mag have tossed-around the possibility of transferring if we DON’T get into gold because we would lack a challenge in silver.

So please just continue to get out of our way. Not only would it be in both of our best interests, but community leaders from other gold-league servers have expressed that they would much rather face us in gold for the fights that they know we will bring than SBI is capable of doing.

When people joined the server, SBI was already on the cusp of gold league which at the time was Servers 1-12. At the time, nobody knew we would actually climb to the top 5 or 7 servers to fight in a yet to be announced 1-6 and 7-15 league. I think it was a shock when we even went from T5 to T4 after being in tier 5 since the spring.

So to think people would ‘bandwagon’ to a server to fight in the old 1-12 gold league is silly. We have no illusions of defeating the top 3, probably not even TC. We slot somewhere between 5 and 8, and we won’t get a chance to fight SoS on even terms until after leagues are over and a tier 1 server isn’t involved. I’m incredibly happy some excellent WvW guilds and groups have decided to join SBI over the past few months, it’s become a really fun fighting environment for everyone who has come out to fight for the past few months. The efforts and hours our awesome commanders have put in to integrate everyone and learn has been amazing to watch. We even did an organized massive open-field Zerg vs Zerg fight this morning on SBI BL versus SoR.
Both sides were trying to improve open field fighting tactics. We took turns wiping each other and having fun. Cleaning up the dead bodies in the middle was actually fun after each fight.

People don’t bandwagon to ‘also-rans’, and that’s what we are when we face tier 1. We simply don’t have the coverage outside of reset night. What we do have are quite a few organized medium to small sized WvW fighting guilds and a LARGE militia that come out to play sometimes.
Maybe 90% of SBI does want to be in silver, who knows. It’s impossible to know. But we’re still out fighting SoR and SoS and we’ll see what happens on Friday. Maybe ANet will come to their senses and make a 1-3 league so that 4-9 can battle it out like they should be. I personally don’t want to be in either league. Going up against 1-3 is pointless for the most part, as is beating on 13-15. It’s a lose-lose.
I also don’t understand why certain people/servers hate SBI so much. The people are funny and friendly. I don’t hold it against SoR that they’re beating our faces in right now. That’s what WvW is. Sorry to the servers we defeated on the way up the ladder. Inevitably what goes up must come down. It’s happened to us before.

Make oil and cannons indestructible. Or put them high enough up, or somewhere where they can’t be reached without breaking through outer walls. In their current state, oil and cannons are useless.
It’s not as if someone can sit on oil or cannons with 5000 ele and necro marks on them.

Can all three servers maintain the desire to keep up the good fight until later in the week? Stay strong, keep it classy out there.

Flipping each others structures over and over benefits all servers.

Far as PPT, due to the limitations of coverage from the opponents (no fault of their own) the match has already been decided. SOR scouts/lookouts should take a break for the week and join in the on field action. If the structure gets flipped it only benefits us all.

shrug SOR has always been the smallest of the 3 T1 servers population-wise. We are the least 1st place finishing and the most stable T1 server with no real server booms or implosions/drama. We don’t get too many bandwagoners (thankfully, they’re mostly PPT stomping bait) and no major wvw guilds transferring off.

I know! I had to leave the SoS BL around 11:30 eastern to come to work, but before that, it was so much fun. Been following the score and holdings since I got to work and really impressed [Abys] and others are still managing to hold Hills and our corner. I made it over two hours into reset without dying once with numerous open field fights. That never happens! I usually at least die falling off a cliff at some point! ????

The gold league is as pointless as any other league.
At least there’s 3 teams fighting for top spot in gold.

There will be 2 teams fighting for top spot in silver. Whichever 2 of SoS/FA/Mag/SBI don’t make gold. It’s not like 9-15 are going to have any chance to overthrow 7 and 8. Silver league is actually worse than gold. 7 and 8 crush 9-15 just as much as 1-3 crush 4-6.

Bronze, I have no idea, but I imagine if Kaineng drops to 16, they will be the clear favorites.

Which is why 1-3 should have their own league.
And let 4-9 fight it out. TC would be the clear favorite, but at least it would be somewhat interesting.

I see both sides.
Yes it sucks the top 3 servers are so stacked that 4/5/6 will get pummeled.
But competitions and sports are like that.

Look at the NBA. Over the course of a 80 game season, does anyone think teams like Miami, Oklahoma City, San Antonio will ever finish behind teams like Toronto, Phoenix, or Milwaukee? No, but they play the season anyways.
Sure on any given night one of the weaker teams in basketball will prevail, much like in WvW the weaker side may hold a PPT advantage for an hour or two… but in the end, inevitably, the stronger side will prevail.
Getting beaten down isn’t the awesomest thing ever, but it’s certainly better than being the one doing the beating in WvW. At least when you’re losing there’s always a fight to be had. It really stinks getting home from work and ticking for 600+ all week like last week when we faced Yak’s Bend and NSP. It’s not like winning is a glorious feat. Anyone can transfer to tier 1 if they want. Go out for the fights and the chance to learn and see new things. Whichever 2 of FA/SoS/Mag/SBI make gold league, it’s a good chance to farm bags for 7 weeks!

It’s been a fun week. Learned so much this week!
The last time SBI fought this high was back in January, and so much has changed.
On reset night when we were defending Garrison on SBI BL, I died while on the wall to some sort of crazy necro well spam that Maguuma put down. So I know not to stand near the edge now when Maguuma has their zerg below. Lesson learned, haven’t been caught on that since. Last week watching the guild [One] with their tower defense, we also learned some things. This morning Maguuma rushed Mendon’s gap with 40-50 people and golems. We had 20-25 defending in Lord’s room, and pushed them out after about 5 minutes of crazy fighting. Not sure that would have been possible for us a few weeks ago.
Fort Aspenwood has been classy all week, thanks to them for all the great fights this week. I’m sure we’ll see each other again very soon.
Maguuma has been absolutely fierce on the battlefield, always keeping us on our toes.
Maguuma’s open field is very very good. I think we’re adjusting and improving as the week goes on.
Maguuma is probably the toughest server to fight (per capita) I’ve ever seen. The quality of their fighting groups is tremendous and you guys should applaud yourselves for your group composition and fighting prowess.

I think we’re a little overzealous at the moment since we haven’t had a decent fight since August.
We also benefit a lot from being able to get our guilds together in the maps to work as a group since we don’t have a massive queue.

Match up’s that is this one sided should allow for the other 2 servers to have some kinda Auto Alliance After all for one server to completely win is boring for them and during most of this match up it seemed they could block us from our spawns on all 4 maps, Siegerazer is a one time use thing break out into a swarm of 50 people to get smacked down Bloodlust in this scanario with the other server just over powered and have nothing else to do but hold bloodlust points so now there over powered in manpower and firepower it’s like why even play wvw in these match up’s. Come up with more creative small things for balance having the out maned buff ally you to the randomly roaming pve monsters. Even when were in another match up and were winning this badly I feel bad so it’s not just getting the beat down im thinking about it’s how unbalanced wvw that is bothering me. While the Ability to get utter defeated is one thing, things are so bad now if there been a way to loose our citadel and we littely spawn into 50 people killing us while in load screen it would have happened in this match up it was that badly one sided. But to SBI good fight guys it’s not like you could go easy on us you needed to have things to do also as it’s your wvw as well just again anets inability to balance a system were players can jump servers vs issues created by the ability of people to move servers IE someone that started gw’s 2 on a wrong server and find out there friend is on another small example but I do think something needs to be done add more pve elements have wvw coop server day to defeat Zhaitan ect in a more epic battle that what is the fight given to us in PVE Orr dungeon ect Something. Kinda off topic but Tequatl > Zhaitan ..does anyone find a Problem with that? Idea’s comments as this was just to make people think about what if hopefully the developers see’s this also.

I agree on all this. It’s almost as bad for us as it is for you guys.
We’ve been leaving everything we take for the most part paper so you guys can take it all back quickly so at least both sides get some good wxp taking things back and forth.
We’ve also had some good fights along the way.

It’s hard for the matchmaking system to predict how good a server is going to be in the future. Clearly we’re stronger than our ranking at this moment, unfortunately we’ve been rolling low on the resets. I wish there was a slight human element in the matchmaking to ensure matchups like this didn’t happen. We’ve had some great fights with YB and Kaineng in the past, and I’m sure we’ll get some in the future. At the moment though, we’ve benefitted from a lot of good WvW guilds choosing SBI as a home so hopefully we won’t see either of you guys again for awhile, I’m sure the sentiment is shared from both servers we faced this week.

I personally agree with this.
I think the top 3 are in a league of their own.

4-9 would be better matches than 1-6

SoS, Mag, TC, FA, SBI, DB I think would be a fun league for most.

I’m sure the 10-15 servers aren’t exactly salivating having to face the top of what will be silver. SBI has been facing these servers for a month, we know the result.

1-3 can be platinum league
4-9 can be gold league
10-15 or 18 can be silver league
16 or 19 to 24 can be bronze league

I think that probably would provide the best matches.
Just my opinion though.

There’s a large group of servers lumped in the middle right now. If you’re looking for servers on the upswing with good to decent coverage, I would say SBI and IOJ are currently gaining ranks. SBI has welcomed recent transfers from Devona’s Rest, there may be some people on SBI you recognize.
SBI has great PvE and PvX guilds as well as numerous organized WvW guilds with round the clock commanders (I don’t think Olaf ever sleeps!) and a wonderful server teamspeak to use.

Three week epic tank-a-thon between SoS, DB and Mag to determine which server has to suffer in the Gold League.

SBI might actually take the #6 spot just in time for leagues.

That would be epic!

Most NA servers have a decent turnout at those hours.
If you’re not looking for super high pop then maybe avoid the tier 1 and 2 servers.
Any of the medium tier servers field good numbers in those hours and there’s always fights to be had. I can’t speak for other servers but SBI seems solid in that time slot as of late.

Despite the score, thanks to the IOJ and NSP soldiers who came out to fight, it couldn’t have been easy.
This matchup would have been great a month or two ago!

I’m not one to care about PPT, but i honestly hate versing SBI-.-
Since all these transfers, i rarely ever get even numbered fights when i run 10-15 man groups with my guild.. The only guild who give great fights and actually stand out of the 70 man zergs in BEAST. So yeah, i’ll be in Yaks BL for most of this week just looking for good fights.

It’s funny when other servers act as if they never have zergs.

I didn’t see any huge SBI zergs last night during reset. You’d think that would be primetime for an 80 man zerg, especially since those are supposedly our forte.

You guys always complain about the new SBI transfers, but what you fail to realize is that we do our own separate guild events and tend to avoid huge zergball stuff. For instance, DDLG ran two groups last night, with each consisting of less than 20 members.

Come league time, will matchups versus servers ranked lower than 17 feel good? No, not at all. I and many others would rather fight hard and lose, than absolutely steamroll underpopulated low rank servers.

I do not care if we lose. But the way sbi are acting is immature and childish. Last time it was sbi vs bp. Bp won fair and square cause you guys focused on sm too much. Now that you have gotten alot of guilds to transfer, your winning and think your high and mighty till you face maguuma and dragonbrand and lose badly. Then your transfers will leave ya. You really should read the blog posts. Anet is planning on creating a 3 “Leagues” to “even things out”. They will run for a “season” and you are stuck with the options within your league. Since there are only going to be 3 leagues (Gold, Silver, Bronze) That means anyone who has the horrid misfortune of being the Rank 9 server at the point of impact will be subjugated to 3 months of an alternating beatdown by Dragonbrand, Blackgate and Sanctum of Rall. While this would indeed be “interesting” for the server with the misfortune to roll 9th position in a couple of weeks, the knowledge of this has had the sad effect of creating a chilling effect amongst servers, like BP, that are on the border between the Gold and Silver leagues.

If there are gold/silver/bronze leagues and there’s 24 NA servers…
I’m pretty sure being the number 9 server is a good thing, as is 17.
Either way, fight on. I’d be pretty embarrassed of my server if they sandbagged to get a certain spot.
Maybe BP can convince themselves this week is ‘sandbag’ and continual beatings at the hands of SBI won’t continue over the coming months.
If there are only 2 leagues split into 12 servers each, and BP’s goal is to go in ranked 13th just to roll servers with nowhere near the WvW population, then that’s pretty sad.

Just witnessed this 50 on 50. Was cheering for BP but they didn’t come out on top. In all fairness SBI dropped a number of balistas and did have the bridge choke advantage.

Meanwhile DDLG was breaking down the north gates in hills for a successful capture.

Idk, we had about 20 DDLG and maybe 30 on the commander. I think we just have better guild coordination during primetime and we’ve been working with our pugs and the whole server is learning to move together in the same way guild groups do.
I think if you guys coordinated your attacks with your guilds and split up your 80 man blob instead of map hopping with an entire queue you could present more of a challenge during this time slot.

It’s amazing how one server has attracted so many terrible guilds. The only reason you’re winning right now is because of coverage and numbers, not skill. SBI does not have skill and will never have skill.

Edit: Oh remind me, how many guilds have xferred to SBI? And how many of you guys tried recruiting BP guilds to SBI?

Seems you really dislike losing to SBI.
You guys have beaten us plenty in the past few months. This one time we’re gonna come out on top, you have to resort to this? Pretty lame.
I see now why so many other servers dislike BP.

If my two options were 1) roaming around getting stomped by a zergball, or 2) getting to the safety of a tower with siege…
I would definitely choose to hide in my tower with siege.

Everyone plays differently and has fun doing different things.
I don’t hold it against anyone hiding in towers when zergballs are going by, I do the same thing.
The purpose of any game is to win and hopefully have fun doing it. So I never understand why people want WvW to be sPvP.
Open field fights really accomplish nothing other than maybe a bit of demoralizing. 3v4’s, 8v6’s, 2v2’s… who cares really. It’s about taking points, defending your own points as good as possible, denying the enemy supply and keeping their towers paper.
There is no solo skill in WvW besides the commanders ability to make smart decisions and control the masses. It’s a numbers game. 1 person’s ability to 1v1 or a small group’s ability to 4v4 in the open is beyond pointless and meaningless in the WvW setting.
The best 4v4’ers could be on Anvil Rock for all we know… and it would have zero impact on how well your server does in WvW. So sPvP’ers need to put their kittens away and realize almost nobody cares about their open field ‘prowess’ in WvW because it doesn’t matter. Most WvW’ers are absolutely terrible at PvP, me included, so it’s no grand accomplishment to kill almost anyone in WvW if you’re decently good at sPvP.

If I played on EB or BP this week, I’d probably hide in towers as well to avoid the SBI Bannok Pain Train
