I was fighting a mesmer yesterday and I swear I saw 4 Illusions and the Mesmer. I think he went in for a shatter but I shadow refuge so I had time to count them all. Is there a way to exceed the 3 illuions cap?
Thanks
You guys need to pack up your bags and go home. We are in no shape or form OP. Even the dev said we are “decent.”
I understand this skill converts boons into conditions but I’m unsure of the duration.
Is the duration a fixed time or does it factor the boon duration for the condition duration. If a target has 10 sec of stability, does corrupt boon turns it into a 10 sec fear?
Thanks.
I remember the devs promised this, but it seems to be taken for granted in forums more and more that some skill tweek in one would change the other.
are we walking away from this two spheres thing? Because that was a good idea, to balance them seperately. can a dev comment to confirm they still recognize that as a potential tool? we havnt seen it used much.
The devs have confirmed pet/minion health splits for an upcoming patch. There are already a lot of other splits as well.
Splitting things too severely is dangerous because it makes it more difficult for a PvE player to try out PvP.
Because the gear system in PvE and PvP are so alike? It is already vastly different. Spliting the two game mode will make PvE and PvP better. The real reason they can’t do it is because of money/resources. Please don’t give me this lame excuse that it will be difficult for PvE…
I don’t play a necro nor do I want to play one. They do kill me from time to time so I’m here trying to find out more about them. So, please forgive me for my ignorance regarding this class and what and what it can’t do.
My question are:
1, what is condition burst? (uptime, setup time, rotation, etc)
2, what other class(es) is/are capable of a condi burst?
3, how fast can you kill someone with a condi burst vs low/med/high vitality targets?
4, what are the counters?
Thanks in advance.
It’s odd, hammer Warriors were able to do basically the exact same thing in GW1 and I don’t remember there being all that much fuss over it. In GW1 I had a build that had around 4 knockdowns in a row. I had also mastered “quarter-knocking,” timing your knockdowns so that your target doesn’t even have enough time to cast a 1/4 second spell.
If used perfectly I could kill most light armored classes in one combo. Rather than complaining people just started bringing skills to counter me. GW1 always had problems balance wise, but it was always playable and even enjoyable. You know why this is? Counter-Play. Whenever something became the “meta” you would see people shortly after posting a build designed to counter it. I hardly see any of that going on in GW2 except for the builds Warriors are currently running to counter conditions.
About why people are complaining about Warriors when GW1 had them; No healers.
About why there are no counters; There are counters. Mantra of Resolve for mesmers is a great counter to repeated stuns because you can stun break a thousand times. Engineers can deal with it as well and they don’t have stability, Guardians are also good against these guys due to their repeated blocks and blinds, Thieves can also counter them but a well timed stun can put them in a bad place, Rangers can run Rampage as one, Eles can use focus to add another layer of defence against stuns, etc.
It’s all about whether people want to play those speccs or not.Fact is, counterplay by players is so rare, all they want is to nerf things so that they can deal with them 1v1.
I do agree that no healers does change things a bit, but the basic concept is still there. Something is killing you? Then bring something to make that harder. What I’m seeing is “this is killing my current build, nerf it.”
You named several good counters and my whole point in my “PR” campaign for Warriors is that many of the people calling for nerfs are not interested in balance, they just Warriors to go back to being a free kill. What’s even more frustrating is that some of these people are the same ones who were always talking about how much they hated the condition meta.
Sure, lets have a honest discussion on how to balance Warrior CC pain train.
What is the standard spec for CC warrior? A variation of X/10/30/X/15(min). They have high toughness, high crit damage, low to medium crit chance, etc. Basically, they sacrifice damage for the ability to CC. Wrong. Their burst line gives them 30% crit damage and with Unsuspecting Foe 50% vs stunned target, a player can ignore the need to have high crit chance to DPS. I don’t think it is balanced when you can have your cake and eat it too…
Solution to this?
1 – Move Unsuspecting Foe to either master trait or buff it and make it a grandmaster trait.
2 – Swap Fast Hand with Building Momentum. This makes sense since Building Momentum is tied to burst skills.

I wonder what would happen if they gave rush the treatment they gave ride the lightning…
The effect would just be doubling the cooldown and you might as well not bother with the half cooldown if it lands.
RtL will deal it’s damage as soon as it reaches the target, Rush on the other hand has to go through a highly telegraphed swing animation before dealing it’s damage. Add this functionality and you may as well change how the entire ability works since you’ve just made it useless without a total rewrite.
Because the giant ball of lightning coming at your isn’t telegraphed enough right?
If you’re going to nerf the boon removal from 2 —> 1, please lower the init cost from 2 -->1. If you would recall, it was 1 init to start with but it was increase to 2 because it was “too good.” Revert it back to 1 init please. Thanks.
Ascended stats for the legendary weapons are already in the game. It is however disabled awaiting decision to release ascended weapons.
If you would recall, they increased the stats on all legendary weapons back in December. After maybe 1 or 2 days, they disabled it.
Can you please tell us what exactly happened?
Be careful of using the calculator as it is very misleading.
For example, 5 points in CS gives you 5% crit chance when above 90% health. The calculator does not account for when HP drops below 90% health. In Wish’s 30/30/10 build, the crit chance is actually lower than what the builder suggests (roughly 44% vs the builder 59%).
i agree sifu. i wish you would tell that to all the thief haters asking for nerfs. 1 v 1 really doesnt matter. but id hate to see 20 eles in a =zerg running this then causing knockdowns dmg heals and AOE control :P would be kinda rough
Most eles that run in zergs are x/x/x/30/30. Not enough points for 20 earth.
P.S. I’m a thief :P
hey guys just wanted to see what everyone else thought of this build that ive seen a few times in wvw. Ele with food/runes/trait can get negative 98% condition time. they have insane heals great mobility and boons/toughness galore. dmg is decent too…not great but enough to kill somebody. What are your thoughts about this? i 100% shuts down maaaaaaaaaaaany many builds. unless ur running spike…and i mean like berserker spike you wont have enough dmg to kill this type…..not just that but you cant stop them. literally…how can you stop them? immob for .05 secs? :P pfft its not even up enough to see it on their condi bar. anyway is it just a troll build? roam build? or OP? what do you all think?
ps warriors can run a similar version although not as well…so can other classes but it seems ele runs it best bc of their mobility/heals and ability to spam skills without ever stopping (elements)
Or how about a mesmer that can portal 25 buddies to negate 100% wall/door?
This is WvW, there are bigger problems than 1v1.
look at pvp all you see is heartseek spamming noobs .
why are you whining then? who’s the worse noob? the guy spamming hss or the one getting killed by it?
yeah i forgot we have infinite dodge rolls
/sarcasm
learn to time dodges then. i know, running to the forums crying ‘op’ is easier.
my point is a traited thief wont lose all their initiative by spamming heartseeker
also it is just as ignorant to defend an op clas telling everyone else its their fault and to l2p
OP class
OP=underpowered or what ?
Thief:
Weakest healing in the game
Least health pool
Medium armor
Zero boons abilities
Zero invulnerable abilities
Middle mobility
Middle DPS
1-3 support abilities (two make only stealth, one block projectile)
OP F1 abilities /sarcasm
OP Utility slot skills /sarcasm3x stealth abilities-1x weapon slot skill 2x utilities slot.
Yeah Thiefs Are OP !!!!
you must be playing a handicapped thief
thiefs have the highest mobility ingame
as well as the Highest dps
they arent the only medium armor users
can use combo fields to stealth indefinetly as long they do not hit an opponent
no cooldown stun breaker/teleport/shadowstep
steal boons
gain boons by stealing wich is also a shadowstep
Heal skills- i dont know what you’re talking about each heals for about 5k hp without traits nor gear buff not only that one of the heal evades cures cripple, chilled and immobilize another cures burn bleed and poison and stealths and the other heals per attack passively.they dont have Direct boons because they have signets (signets got buffed up to 100% so they give 180 points instead of 90 now)
How cow batman! I see a 30/30/30/30/30 thief!
The stealth mechanic was just a bad idea in the first place, I can’t see any way to balance it.
I kill plenty of thieves and can’t remember the last time I lost to one but I also can’t remember the last time I killed a good one, because once they realise they can’t kill me they just use the broken shadow return and drop shadow refuge out of my closing range and disappear off.
The reason that thieves can’t kill me is because any WvW build I make is primarily focused on countering them. I don’t feel the need to specifically counter any of the other classes and didn’t have to lvl 80 a warrior to be able to deal with them, like you have to with thieves. Dealing with thieves may be a learn to play issue and you hear all the time “if you want to deal with thieves you have to roll one and learn the tricks”. but how many times have you seen this on the forums?: “if you want to deal with Guardians/Rangers/Warriors/Eles/Necros you have to roll one and learn the tricks”.
Thief is not OP but it is the ultimate troll class, specced and played right thieves are just downright irritating to play against.
There is no fix for thieves, either you nerf them into the ground and kill a popular class (like they did with Mesmers) or you leave them as is and the rest of the classes find them annoying. I wish they had come up with something better for the thief but the truth is, they put them in the game, it was a bad idea and now we are stuck with them.
In conclusion they can’t really nerf thieves because the main things that cause the problems are core game mechanics, we just are forced to play them ourselves so we can learn them and then spec against them or stick to zerging around.
Great post. Sums it up pretty well.
Yes, good post. I do want to make a comment regarding seeing posts “if you want to deal with Guardians/Rangers/Warriors/Eles/Necros you have to roll one and learn the tricks”.
I would say the most effective roamers are thieves, eles, ranger and warriors. But most of the time, you will see thieves. Since they are in abundance in small scale fights (1v1, 1vX, etc), they are at the attention of all the hate.
alright guys, before bashing me, keep in mind my main is thief and I love the thief game play but this op trait line is ruining it.
I understand anet intention to give thief the best burst and mobility and everything is just busted once this trait line gets in picture.
Minor 25, Gain 2 stacks might for 15 seconds when you go into stealth.
Major 30, Regenerate health while in stealth. With cnd chaining or smoke screen+leap, you can easily get 10 stacks of might before you back stabbing. This completely breaks the deadly arts trait line. If I have 30 points to spend, if spent on SA, player will get spamable stealth, spamable condition removable if wanted, 1 free binding power, spamable healing and most importantly, comparing to DA, you are gaining 50 power too. Peeps used to still invest at least 10 in DA for mug so thief is really bursty, now when you turn mug from a burst skill to semi-burst+heal, that 10 points in DA isn’t really worth it.
With the currently trait lineup, 30 in SA is almost a must. It gives thief top condition removal, best escape option, top healing (survivability) on top of best burst and best mobility among all the classes. This really breaks it.
anet fix this pls.
Disclaimer: I am not asking for a nerfing of thief and I am not claiming thief is op. What I am asking for is anet looking into SA trait line and probably move 25 minor and/or 30 major to another trait line.
EDIT: I am totally fine with the cleanse , permastealth , healing that comes from SA line and those traits make thief very fun to play when traited with SA. But putting permastealth and SA minor 25 trait together is just wrong, it dwarfs any other defensive trait lines of any professions. The fact that you can keep stacking might when you are still in stealth and stacking stealth time makes this trait provide more power than 30 points in DA.
OMG!!! 10 stack of might is so OP nerf this kitten to the ground!!!!
Warrior signet of rage – 5 stack of might+fury+swiftness for 30 secs. /shrug
Engi getting 20 stacks of might just by farting. /shrug
Ele geting 12 stacks of might for rotating between attunement. /shrug
What D/P has:
- same burst, if not higher than D/D
- on-demand stealth
- on-demand gap-closer with really good damage (people underrate that skill, it’s even better than using heartseeker prematurely to use it, since it also blinds the enemy and increases your survivability)
- instant daze (whoever doesn’t use this skill at all is wasting D/P’s potential. Ever tried dazing people as they were about to cast their important spells like heals or ulties? Daze is perhaps even stronger than a stun, since you can stunbreak out of a stun)
- blind field (destroys other thieves and melee classes, also makes taking down boss objectives like svanir a breeze)Now as to the other reasons why it’s better than your D/D build:
- as you said, you are using “constant high damage backstabs”. You can do that on d/p too the same, with the exception of not having to actually hit anything with CnD. In WvW people just might find a critter or something else to hit, but in tournaments you have to hit your opponents and that doesn’t work out well without a gap closer, since they are obviously avoiding your CnD (which costs a lot of initiative, so missing even one makes blind field stealthing more cost-efficient). Also, if you hit a critter with CnD, you are loosing damage that still gets done with blind field stealthing through a heartseeker.
- now as to the way other thieves actually play: in tournaments slowly killing by backstabs is not viable. You MUST burst somebody down, or you go down yourself, or even worse your whole team looses the teamfight, not even mentioning that taking your time killing enemies on point slowly looses you the game. Also, other classes like warriors can pull of better damage over the time you stealth and backstab 3 times and don’t need to stealth for that, so there’s basically no reason for any team to want a thief that plays the way you do.Basically the only thing d/d has right now is the ease of pulling off the combo, which isn’t really hard in the first place.
I disagree.
Pulling off Steal CnD + BS is harder than 5-2 then Steal/InfilBS.
I think you answered your own question there in that your damage was all about the back stabs – for D/D that is certainly good. D/P can do backstabs too but I like the blind field from Black Powder which is pretty underrated .sshhhh…Shadow Shot is also underrated and hits hard enough and is a great gap closer, headshot interrupts like a boss -oh you were about to heal..muhuhuhuhuhaaa..and heartseeker is there too. I played S/P solid then started struggling with it and things simply are much easier with D/P.
What this guy said, it is easier to play. Why work harder for the same results? This isn’t a jab at your Elmuerto or others that run D/P.
So I’ve been playing around with a new build, one which uses the above utility.
I’ve been doing some testing with it and I’ve noticed that 15% damage increase isn’t much more then the passive effect. It does maybe 100-200 more damage per backstab (even less with other attacks) but with the hefty cooldown of 45 seconds is it really worth activating?
Or maybe I’m missing something, could be testing it wrong. Would anyone else be willing to share their experiences with the signet?
I don’t know the exact number but it does indeed make you hit harder. 300 more damage is roughly 780 more damage if crit on a zerker build.
In pve, I would just use the passive effect. In pvp, it comes down to knowing when to use it (target at 50-75% heath and you want to ensure a down).
the shadow return on infiltrators strike has at least twice the range it says in the tooltip, is this a bug?
Things you should know about S/X.
1 – As you mentioned, the shadow return exceed the range on the tooltip.
2- If you’re out of combat, you can use infiltrator strike as many times (if you have enough init) as you want to catch up to a target. Either 600-2400 range.
3 – The daze is 2 second but with the para sigil, it is increased to 3 second even though it is only a 15% increase.
Also, I used the trap vs another thief mid fight. I cast SF and started putting down the trap. kittened up the other thief pretty hard.
I know this might be difficult to grasp but stealth is not a thief’s F# ability. It is not the thief’s equivalent to virtues, or adrenaline, or pet.
that sentence made no logical sense what-so-ever
there is no magic buttons in this game. Majority of escapes and cc are not related to the F buttons.
the rest of your little post carries no meaningWow are you that dense? What the hell are you talking about “magic button”? I’d say puff puff pass but that kitten you are on is killing some serious brain cells. Listen, if you didn’t know what I meant by “F#”, you could’ve just asked.
They (the person I quoted in the previous post) asked about traps that can restrict/nullify other profession’s F# abilities. F# means F1, F2, F3, etc. These are the game’s default key bind. A necro toggles in and out of shadow form with F1. A mesmer shatters using F1, F2, and F3. Virtues are like signets, where the ‘active effect’ is used by pressing F1, F2 and F3. Ranger’s pets are commanded and swapped using F1, F2, F3 and F4. Thieves’ F1’s primary function is to steal and then use the item stolen.
So the only thing that makes no logical sense, is requesting traps that severally limit and/or disable other profession’s F# abilities because a thief’s stealth (which is not their F# ability) can now be hard countered by a trap.
The thief F# ability is to 1 steal and 2, use/benefit the stolen item. When stealing from another thief, the stolen item will allow the user to stealth. The trap is a hard counter to this F#.
Good try though.
Oh wow, talk about a stretch on that one. Sorry but if you follow the example of locking the pet, then that is on par with locking out the ability to steal or use any stolen items. Preventing say, wolf’s fear, is more in line with preventing the thief from using a particular stolen item. I don’t even know how it would compare to the other professions. Maybe with warrior it would prevent the use of F1 on just one weapon which is a far cry from allowing them to gain adrenaline. Or, prevent the use of a single virtue for guardians but doesn’t block the passive. This is a far cry from “locking all the guardian virtues”.
But please, grasp at some more straws while you’re already at it.
I never said which one is right or wrong but from your post you’re implying that the new trap will not shut down thief’s F#. I was merely giving you an example of who it can indeed shut down the F#.
I know this might be difficult to grasp but stealth is not a thief’s F# ability. It is not the thief’s equivalent to virtues, or adrenaline, or pet.

Omg 5 thieves vs 5 ele’s. Going to be rough fighting 5 0/0/10/30/30 bunker ele’s
.
The tooltip for sword autoattack has gone berserko…
and my actual attack numbers (pve) was 3.5k x 2, then crippling strike hitting 6.5k~7k with berserker gear and only 10 points in Deadly Arts…
Was there a hidden buff somewhere? or has it always been this powerful?
I know DPS wise its not THAT great as the autochain is quite slow, so its not much stronger than a pistol whip’s dps
My backstab does 1,000,000 damage to a bunny. So what? Stop posting numbers from killing lowbies…
I tried to find a video of a warrior holding his/her own against a small zerg like that…
All I saw were 1vs1 videos.
Stealth is what allows the thief to do this.
No…culling allows the thief to do this. Please show a video after the culling fix. Good luck, you won’t find one vs similar numbers.
I presume this is all tested and we’re not just assuming it works this way? You would expect percentage things to be multiplicative. Granted that is still an enormous reduction in effectiveness, but it’s still not 2%. FYI – Wiki states the condition reduction cap is 95%.
But yea, you’d think something like this would be capped at 33%. That way a class could use the trait instead of food to open up other options. Kind of like how movement skills are capped at 33% but classes like Ele’s still sometimes choose to run signet for 25% as opposed to buffing for 33%.
Tested it and the results indicate that the values are added. So, 33% Trait + 40% Food + 25% Melandru = 98% reduction. It was easy to test at 73% reduction and 65% reduction. With the 98% reduction, it was very hard to test this since you barely notice the 2%.
With that being said, this will make some traits, utilities, skill, etc 95% less effective against said warrior. I understand that there are counterbuilds but to render someone’s abilities complete useless 95% of the time is OP. There is something wrong with this and it needs to be addressed.

Wait for the sigil or energy and sigil of battle nerf. It’s coming and it will hit us hard…
ok. i have 4 sets of armor! 5% dmg on each dagger. 30 30 0 0 10 (highest DPS in game) full zerk gear/accs/rules/jewels. ……. wont hit 10k…wont hit 9k…wont hit 8……MIGHT get near 7k. and thats ONLY if you hit another glass cannon. or and upscale could be more depending on what it is! read whatever u want about whatever u want. its like you said we could also do 5 cluster bombs in 2.5 seconds…try more like 5 in 5 seconds……4 trick shots in 1 second? try like 4 in 4 seconds. thief numbers are all whacked. ask any thief
with that same build…u hit a guardian….and dont crit….u might do only 1200 dmg! with a burst build! yeah 1200…iver personally dont it to a guard! go figure.

And I can do 150K damage vs a bunny. Please be realistic and post SS of actual geared players and not uplevel 20 who are missing armor or a frenzy warrior.
Yeah, Thief is so favoured by Devs. Getting all those nerfs, lucky kittens. Having more nerfs then any of the other classes combined (this is true, look it up), makes them a sure-shot of favouritism.
Thief is the only class to get un-nerf.
Reveal debuff will be changed from 4 sec to 3.
Don’t even mention about spvp since the title is “WvW thief.”
So if ele’s want to fully utilize rtl, they’re actually going to have to use it strategically, and effectively.
And the big deal is, what again?
There is no deal. That’s the funny part.
Only class to get penalize for it???? Just make it the same for all other class then. No big deal right? Rush will be on a 40 sec CD if it misses. Infil Arrow will cost 12 init instead of 6 if it doesn blind anyone. etc
Why would you compromise on something that doesn’t need a compromise in the first place?
This change is stupid. Simple as that.
In between the heartseeker spam and the infiltrator arrows, and their speed signet, how do you catch one?
Or is it just impossible?
Follow classes can catch a thief:
Ele
Warrior
Ranger
Another thief
There are 8 classes total. Out of those 8, 4 can catch you. Balance I say.
Didn’t this guy run ESOL to the ground?

Hey!
Can you ask the Dev if we will get a Fused weapon ticket after completed this month’s F & F lving story?
Thanks!
No way this tournament can be something good. I fear the moment when two D/P thieves encouter each other. Perma stealth for hours.
haha, again you missed the point.
We are doing 5 of each profession and then starting the tournaments. If we do it all at the same time we will end up running into each other often enough.
It’s all about having some fun with your profession!
Rotate SF between 5 thieves. Which ever team gets bored first loses.?

tl;dr – Thieves go to hell, someone tell me how to win as Necro.
I’m a tPvP player. I just spent FIVE minutes in WvW, and I now hate EVERY thief on the planet that even so much as THINKS of heartseeker or stealth. What the hell is this? Stealth every half second? Healing in stealth every half second? This is absolute nonsense.
Is there even a way for me as a Necro to beat these bad players without needing 4 people backing me up? Is it even possible? I would really like to know.
I wasn’t up leveled, and I had full exotic gear. My build is incredibly strong against thieves and generally all players in tPvP. But this… this was just stupid.
Then a Thief had the NERVE to say he was UP.
I recommend that you go to the necro subforum and seek advice there on how to counter wvw thieves. What are you trying to accomplish here with your rant post?
Hey folks, I figured I would swoop in and drop a reply.
I remember playing my ranger in PvP and getting “2-spammed” by a D/D thief and dying in about 3-5 seconds. I had no idea how to stop them, and they seemed intent on finding my heart. I couldn’t even hit the bugger since he blinded me and pulled a stun off. I remember thinking to myself “Man, my ranger couldn’t do 19k damage in five seconds. Thief OP!” Until I actually went and made such a thief out of spite. I’ll admit right now I am not much a thief player… Only about level 30 in PvE, and about 10 games played as thief in SPvP – but in those few games I would just dominate people. Load up the +% damage traits, stealth, and then it’s just a matter of a few button presses. But in playing that thief, I learned how to counter that thief. Bring a stun breaker, a condi removal, some CC, and know how/when to dodge roll. It doesn’t work all the time, especially if my stunbreaker is on CD from a previous fight (Pistol Whip is rough!), but if a thief gets the jump on me I have about 2 seconds to react, and then I make the thief pay.
I consider things like “hundred nades bug” to be OP, where a single attack dos 26k damage in an AOE. Sacrificing so much versatility/defense to be a glass cannon spiker is not OP, it’s a build. That build is just really really good at spiking, and it overpowers almost any other build the thief can bring to deal damage. There are a few builds you don’t see often with thieves that are pretty good, because players weigh efficiency in murdering something quickly to be greater than surviving a drawn out encounter, so they’ll bring the most efficient build to accomplish that… which in my experience has been the D/D heart seeker. There’s some neat shadow-step steal/pistolwhip/quickness/unload type builds out there, but that D/D thief overpowers and obscures the potential for other builds to rise up. In my eyes they could use some more versatility… I know that when I play my ranger I can many different things at once – I have a large tool box of sometimes very useful tools, and that makes me harder to bring down since I am not so easily countered.Well this is longer than I was thinking it would be, and now I have subjected the thief forum to my punctuation, so I better stop. Also I’ll admit to being little on edge in this forum… I’m a ranger in the middle of a thieves den!
I hope you’re working hard on getting our 3 seconds of reveal debuff back. If you are, I love you long time!
Every profession in the game needs to bring DPS, support, CC and rez ALL the time in every battle. To think otherwise is to miss the point of the combat system.

In that case when do we PvE thieves get our 3s revealed debuff back?
Maybe so. We’re debating it.
THANK YOU! I’ll have to e-hug you if that happens. I’ll actually get to enjoy playing my thief in pve again
I loved the smoothness of the class before and now we might be getting it back!
Time to post raw numbers to make our case!
Suggest we put this in the General Discussion forum since this affects PvP/WvW/and PvE.
uncontested on any US server?
To everyone saying that this will be the next nerf , im actually sorry to tell people but this kind of build would be used in competitive paid tournaments 4 months ago and more even..
Because the recent 1 second change to reveal was a result of what happens in tpvp right? It was balanced for WvW…
Any uncontested on US servers?
You guys realize this build sacrifices a lot of dps for survivability?
I ran this build this morning for a few hours in spvp and wvw.
While it gives incredible init regen, defense, mobility. DPS suffers greatly.
I backstabbed some guy in spvp for 700 damage. No crit, he had protection up I think.
You are a cat without claws with this build.
There are multiple D/P builds. Some focus on surviavability other focus on dps.
You have to land the CnD not waste your HIS or SR or smoke screen combo or your blinding powder if those are what you fancy for utilities. You don’t HAVE to land a CnD to kill someone with off hand dagger or to go into stealth for that matter.
You could run stealth on steal, bs, do some auto attack, blinding powder bs, do some auto attacks, HIS bs do some auto attacks, SR bs and do some auto attacks.
What happens when that all fail? You HAVE to land the CnD right? While the D/P BP+HS all day long.
