Just out of curiosity since this bug took so long to find and fix, what was causing the bug to begin with? I’m not looking for any highly technical reason, just being curious in general.

The fixes are related to translating time from one format to another under a very specific set of circumstances and to the parts of the system that are supposed to recover if something goes wrong when translating time from one format to another. It’s a bit like having your breaks and airbags fail at the same time. Either one is bad, but both together… ouch.

I don’t believe we’ve announced our next patch date so I can’t be any more specific than saying that it’s in an upcoming patch. Sorry to be so vague, but rules are rules. It should be coming fairly soon though.

Thank you very much for the response. I never expected one so it was nice to see you swing and and take your time to answer. I appreciate it and look forward to the upcoming fix

Dear Toymaker Tixx,

I’d like a jumping puzzle that isn’t a jumping puzzle. I’d like a reverse puzzle that is modeled after a giant sled-ride. One where I can climb up a mountain and ride a metal runner sled down a mountain, past obstacles and monsters and avalanches. Over jumps and hills and through slick ice chutes with falling icicles and break-away ices floes. Riding my shiney runner sled to the bottom for great prizes and record breaking times I can compare with my friends and guild-mates as competition.

Thank you

Was ‘Overflow server hopping’ to gain access to multiple event reward chests an exploit during the Lost Shores Sunday event against the Ancient Karka?

It was posed to me today that “Using Overflows to gain access to more one time events” is considered an exploit.

I was just curious if Anet had an official response to a statement such as this and if they truly DID consider Overflow Server Hopping an exploit if you gained acess to more than one reward chest from multiple events.

Condition Damage > Power?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Siliconhobbit.4361

@ siliconhobbit: it’s in the official guide (which i bought with the game). Whilst it wasn’t the red box i was hoping for, on page 102 it says this-

“HOW TO GET THE BEST EVENT REWARDS

Kill enemies quickly with the most damaging weapons you have. Don’t try to kite or kill single enemies over time unless you can’t win without doing so. Take on multiple opponents at once and storm the area if you’re up to the challenge. This has the added benefit of giving you practice for more challenging PvE content, like dungeons. Learn how much your character can handle, and practice using your skills to their best advantage.

Also, push for higher level events whenever you can. Groups of skilled players slamming through content two or three levels above their characters often rake in the rewards."

Italics mine.

This paragraph from the guide gives no indication that DoT’s/Condition damage do not count toward your level of completion for events.

In fact I find the entire notion preposterous.

ELE switching attunement auto attacking

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Siliconhobbit.4361

Siliconhobbit.4361

This! 1000 times over. I REALLY hate this mechanic. Every time I switch to a new attunement, ANY mob that is close, whether or not it is neutral gets attacked.

For example in Orr, if I need to run past some mobs that I KNOW will attack me from range I’ll start in Earth Attunement, throw up my reflective shield and then instantly switch to Air and hit my run speed and quickly move through the area in hopes of NOT getting into combat.

Often times this does not work because the moment I switch over to Air Attunement a bolt of lightning shoots out and attacks something, instantly putting me into combat.

Extremely annoying. Please make it stop.

Volcanic Fractal - Grawl Veterans Teleporting

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Siliconhobbit.4361

Siliconhobbit.4361

This Fractal seems to be causing some problems. I’m not sure if what I describe below is intended or a bug so I am hoping those of you who have been there plenty of times before can shed some light on the matter.

During the first fight with the Grawl Shaman on the Altar, we have to use the infused stones to break down his shield. During the time when his shield is UP, veterans spawn and move (with varying speed depending upon difficulty) towards the citizens and push them off if they reach them. If the Shield of the Grawl Shaman is taken down/destroyed before the Vets reach them, and all FOUR are saved, you get a chest once the Shaman is defeated.

I have noticed 2 particular effects that the Veterans seem to have that make me unsure if this is intended or not.

#1 The LEFT side Grawl Vet (facing AWAY from the altar) spawns extremely close to the wall and if he is rooted or somehow pushed BACK into the wall, he insta-teleports to the Left side citizen and pushes her in. This causes the ultimate goal of saving all 4 to get a chest, to fail.

#2 On various occasions for no reason what so ever, a Grawl Vet insta-teleports to a citizen and pushes them in, again preventing a chest from spawning.

Has anyone noticed this before? Do the Grawl Vets have the ability to Teleport or are they bugged in some way?

Please post your findings. Thank you.

Condition Damage > Power?

Siliconhobbit.4361

I’m surprised no-one has mentioned guardians and ele’s, who have easy access to burning. Anyway, going for a high cond dmg spec will reduce your loot from DE’s as DoT’s are not considered for damage done to mobs when it comes to level of event participation and loot. Your loot from chests will remain unaffected tho.

Do you have a link that confirms this idea you have put forth? I find this idea highly suspect.

Physical Login Authenticator for GW2?

in Account & Technical Support

Siliconhobbit.4361

Will GW2 ever get a physical Login Authenticator?

I do not own a cellphone and I have no intention of getting one. I simply do not need one nor do I have a use for one. Therefore a mobile authentication program is of no use to me.

I have become used to a certain level of security that I was able to avail myself of in past MMOs such as WOW and SWTOR.

While I feel that my own computer system is relatively secure I do find some sense of safety and security in my MMO account if I have an Authentication Fob available, linked to my gaming accounts.

Will GW2 ever get a physical Authentication Fob to link to our accounts?

@Shadowlancer,

I’ve read quite a few posts in this thread, but not all of them. I’ll add my thoughts and well…you can do what you will with the information.

I’ve run approx. 25 Fractals so far (not in game atm so I cannot look up the exact amount). I’ve gotten to Difficulty Level 3 with my decked out level 80 Guardian. The other 16 I have run with my Elementalist. I started him in the Fractals at level 78, weaing a full set of Rare level 65 gear. While I did hit level 80 during one of those runs, I was still in level 65 Rare gear until this evening when I made my level 80 Exotic Jewelry set and picked up some Sorrow’s Embrace gear with my tokens. I reached Fractal difficulty Level 5 on my Ele, still geared in Level 65 Rare gear.

Side Note: My Elementalist is a Staff Ele.

Level 80, decked out in full exotics, is not necessary for Fractal Difficulty Levels 1 – 5 (I could not speculate about later difficulties as I have not reached them yet).

One of the last posts I read from you mentioned you had 15 runs with PUGS that you did not approve of and had many problems. During each of these runs did you learn anything about the Fractal dungeons you were in? Did you learn the mechanics? How about when to dodge or cast interrupts or crowd control? If so, did you pass along this information to the members of your party during each run?

There are 9 Fractal dungeons in all. Every time you enter into the Fractal Lab, each and every ‘round of 3’ that you do will be random. Your first time into the Fractals at difficulty level 1 could get you Cliffside, Volcano, and Ascalon (Charr). Your next 3 at difficulty 2 could be completely different. Your level 5 difficulty could be the SAME EXACT fractals you did at level 1 difficulty.

The point is…the 9 total Fractals will be randomized every time you enter and at every difficulty level. That being said…you will see the SAME Fractals over and over again. You will get to know the mechanics very well and know what exactly is needed to complete each one (with varying changes based upon difficulty level).

Teamwork is key to Fractals. If you have no ability to give information via Voice Chat then if you alone know what is needed to be done to be successful then you better brush up on your typing skills and be ready to explain it to everyone in the team.

Amongst all of those runs I have done so far, each and every team has been successful and the class make-up and gear did not matter.

Take this into consideration if you will: Difficulty level 1-10 is most likely preparation for the harder difficulty levels where you WILL need Ascension Gear. Before acquiring it, most of the gear you have or your teammates have (within reason) will not matter inside the Fractals. I would assume that at Difficulty Level 9 and 10, gear may start making a difference, but at that point you should know each and every fractal like the back of your hand and can explain what is needed to be done quickly and efficiently.

Consider also the fact that the Fractals scale up everyone in the team to level 80, just like WvW. ArenaNet kept every single level in mind when creating these dungeons and even a level 1 could go in and be successful (however I wouldn’t recommend it).

I can understand your frustration with PUG’s that seem to have no coordination or learning skills. It happens and it can be the downfall of any group. Unfortunately because you are very passionate about this situation and being successful, the onus falls upon you to ensure it IS successful.

Good Luck to you and I hope you find the success you are looking for.

Restart Sanctum of Rall - Bugged NPC

Please restart the Sanctum of Rall Server. Canach is bugged and we cannot proceed along the story line.

Beyond this…HUNDREDS of people have gathered next to Canach, awaiting this NPC’s activity. The building and room we are all standing is is quickly becoming claustrophobic and with nearly every single person in this room casting spells or participating in Costume Brawls, the nausea level is quickly rising (I’m completely serious).

On another note: Clearly the number of people in this room is a fire hazard.

Apparently I am also one of the thousands who have been disenfranchised by this bug. I wasn’t even aware it existed until I read this thread today (11/13/12).

I have been a loyal member of the Sanctum of Rall server since Headstart day 1. I have never transferred off of SoR. I have never been hacked and I have had no account issues what-so-ever. I play WvW daily with my guild members.

Not once have I ever received any WvW server bonus. I have never been able to harvest or gather resources from a resource node more than once (NOT including Rich Ore Veins).

I can mouse over the WvW Icon at the top of the screen and nothing shows up for bonuses. All I get is a tooltip that states World Vs World [B].

Frankly, this is disturbing. If this actually the case and I along with thousands of others, if not more, are NOT in fact getting these bonuses, this is a Priority One issue that needs to be fixed immediately.

The bonuses from WvW represent a significant amount of cash in game. From crafting bonuses to a Health Increase. From gathering bonuses to to increased cash drop from monsters. ALL of the bonuses can be related to cash LOST in game for not having them available. Take into account that these bonuses may not have been available since the launch of the game and any number of players could be out hundreds of gold.

I urge Anet to look into this issue immediately and let the player-base know whats going on and when the issue will be fixed.

At this point, there could be many hundreds of thousands of players affected by this bug.

~chuckles~ Ya’ll are funny bickering like this in the thread. Makes for a good laugh for me.

Anyways. I do appreciate the posts here, even those that are suggesting things that I feel do not fit my play-style or likes. Even the last post about becoming a Necro was enjoyable to read as eventually I will create one but we will see what kind of play I will adopt when I make one.

Let’s see…what can I add that may be able to steer some suggestions towards more of what I am looking for.

  • After respecing a few times again and experimenting with a few things I’m finding I am really enjoying burns and bleeds (conditions). I like the sustained damage they provide as well as the combos that can come from Lava Font (Area Might) and Radiation Field (Area Weakness) when coupled with Eruption.

Combining Arcane Blast with any of those as well doubles up on each of those combos as well. Of course Area Swiftness (Static Field), Area Healing (Geyser) and Area Frost Armor (Frozen Ground) are nice added benefits.

  • I really would like to use runes that would increase the duration and damage of both of those 2 conditions. I find myself switching between Fire and Earth attunements a lot and of course anything with an increase in boon durations would be of a benefit as well.

So…I’ve gotten my Ele to level 62. Unfortunately…I have NO IDEA what I want to do with this class. I’ve waffled back and forth on specs, checking out certain trait builds as well as slot skills. I played one in Beta and really enjoyed a glass cannon spec but now I want more survivability. I’ll list off a few things about the class I’d like to be able to do and hopefully some of you more experienced players can help steer me in the right direction.

  • I love the staff. It’s my main weapon and I enjoy the range and AOE it provides. I tried Dagger/Dagger and just could not enjoy it.
  • I’d like survivability but not at the ‘extreme’ sacrifice of damage. I’m not particularly worried about crit. I’d rather have sustained damage then massive damage spikes.
  • I like being able to move faster all the time. I spend a good majority of my time in Air Attunement just for the movement speed and generally have 10 points of traits in Air just to get the ‘One With Air’ trait. I do enjoy the multiple hits that come from chain lightning but sometimes get annoyed when the chain hits mobs in PvE I didn’t want to disturb to begin with LOL.
  • I switch attunements a lot while in combat. I try and maximize my combo fields to give myself or my allies as many boons as possible.
  • I play WvW a lot. I try and never solo and I’m always with a large group of guild-mates. If I can, I support their efforts in any way that I can (combo boons).
  • I do not play sPvP and have no intention of doing so with my Ele.
  • I’m not interested in playing a support healing role in any venue (I already have a full support tank/heals Guardian. That’s enough support for me)

Any advice on armor stats & runes, weapon stats & Sigils would be greatly appreciated as well.

So…that’s all for now. I’m having the hardest time trying to find what works for me and provides a good number of the list above. I’m open for any suggestions and would be grateful for any help in this regard.

Thanks everyone!

Blocking camp capture while stealth

in WvW

Posted by: Siliconhobbit.4361

Siliconhobbit.4361

I would disagree that this is an attempt to nerf the stealth ability. I do not feel that the stealth ability needs any change at all. Rather, I feel the mechanic involved regarding the capture of objectives in WvW needs a tweak to disallow stealthed individuals the ability to prevent their capture.

Blocking camp capture while stealth

in WvW

Posted by: Siliconhobbit.4361

Siliconhobbit.4361

2 simple optional fixes:

#1 Being stealthed does not affect the capture of any objective. The individual who is stealthed must come OUT OF IT in order to prevent capture. Otherwise the capture of the objective continues.

#2 The number of people standing in the capture ring of an objective affects the time in which the capture proceeds. The more standing in the ring, the faster it goes. This happens on a One for One basis. For example if 10 people are attempting to capture an objective and 5 people are opposing them, the capture progresses as if only 5 people are standing in the ring. 5 people on each team cancel out each other and the team with more members gets the advantage. This would negate the effect of 1 stealthed individual, or even 5 of them if a large zerg of 30+ stormed a location with the intent to capture.

Honestly…I bet suggestion #1 would be easier to implement. That’s my vote.

Annoying Sound Bug

Has this issue been given an update as of yet?

I am currently running the game with near to zero sound. All of the sound settings in game are on minimal settings ( 3-5%)with the master volume sitting at approximately 10% of full. I’d REALLY love to be able to listen to the music of this game while playing as well as all of the NPC dialoge around the world and in personal story missions. Unfortunately I am unable to do so because of this bug.

It gets to the point where it is extremely difficult to hear anything in game, especially in WvW when all my sound settings aer like this.

Hey everyone. I do not normally weigh in on these posts. I usually just read whats going on and keep to myself. This time I’d like to speak up though.

I’m Thündershrimp in game and I belong to Sinister Swarm on Sanctum of Rall.

SoR has seen a meteoric rise in our standings in the last few weeks and whatever the case may be for that sudden and quick rise, I have thoroughly enjoyed every single moment of my WvW experience.

I must however, tip my hat to Sea of Sorrows and the PRX guild. While your forces on most occasions vastly outnumber many of us at any given time and often times are looked upon as a zerg, your organization, response time and leadership is simply astonishing.

Your ability to react to any situation is stunning along with the numbers you bring. Your ability to move between locations quickly and effectively often times leaves my head spinning…that is…after the thousands of bootprints you have left on my face :p

I’ve been paying attention closely. I’ve been watching your movements, your strategies, your tactics and I must say that I have learned so much in the past few days about WvW that I take with me now each time I step onto the battlefield.

I feel that you have given the Sanctum of Rall a wake-up call that we sorely needed and even if others do not agree with my assessment, you’ve given ME a wake-up call at the very least.

No matter the outcome of this weeks match, it truly has been an honor fighting against you and I hope that in the future we will see a match-up like this one again.

Good luck out there the rest of the week!

I propose that Lake in each of the 3 Borderlands be OFF-LIMITS to all 3 servers for the week for the purposes of capturing the Power Nodes and the Quaggans for personal control. In doing so, we will declare WAR on the BOTS that infest each lake. We shall post here about the Bots on each server and give the other servers we are competing with free reign in the lake to destroy each and every one of them.

In addition to the Lakes, we shall post about the BOTS infesting each Skritt area in the Borderlands and allow our competition the courtesy of destroying them as well, unhindered by our own server’s interference.

I made this post to try and get more information for myself and my guild mates as often times we have been hounded by one or two thieves doing these things and it can lead to great frustration.

With information like this in hand we can better understand the mechanics of what is going on and come together better as a group to eliminate the threat in the most effective way, quickly.

Thank you all for the responses, I really appreciate it. If there is anything else you wish to add, please feel free to do so. The more information the better.

Why is it so difficult to kill you Thieves?

in Thief

Posted by: Siliconhobbit.4361

Siliconhobbit.4361

Ok…So…I’ll admit this right off the bat. I do not play a thief. I may roll one at some point but I am to interested in playing the other classes I’ve rolled so far. I mainly play a Guardian. Admittedly, I am not 100% familiar with all of the ins and out of a Guardian. It will forever be a learning process for me but I do enjoy the Guardian I have now.

Now you may look at the title of this post and just laugh. You may think to yourself…“This guys a noob” or “He doesn’t know how to play his class” or “Why the heck would I tell you anything to begin with?” If that’s your line of thinking, then thank you for taking the time to read this far. I appreciate that at the very least.

I’ll start this discussion/question thread off with some examples that I find almost hard to believe at times. Sometimes I feel that the Thief is OP or needs a nerf. I do not like thinking this mainly because I do not play a thief, so those assumptions are just plain unfair. So…onto some questions and examples that really make it difficult to kill you all. (This is mainly WvW focused)

#1 What build and/or abilities are you using that make you nigh indestructible in WvW when we see you spinning around in circles laying waste to groups of individuals?

#2 How many times can you do such a move within a 60 second time-span?

#3 Do you heal when you do this spin as well as damage?

#4 How often can you go invisible/stealth within a 60 second time-span?

#5 What can I do to counter these things and drive you off or kill you?

Often times my guild-mates and I see this happening from 1 or more thieves. The whole spinning trick, blasting through a group of players unscathed to disappear a split second later. Only to return a few moments later doing it again.

I’ve seen, on multiple occasions, one thief keep an group of 15+ players from capping a Supply Depot just by staying stealthed. The amount of time for these stealthing players seems way to long. The are able to remain stealthed, hop out a few times, spin through the group and the disappear again without us gaining any advantage. Often times we see a smoke wall go up within the AOE capping area of the Supply Depot. I am unsure if this is just a decoy or if it actually continues to prevent the capture of the Supply Depot.

During one particularly heated attack on a supply depot, 1 thief managed to keep a group of us occupied for…heck at least 10 minutes before we finally killed him. Teammates and others started shouting Hacks, Exploits, Nerf and all kinds of things.

Again, I am not one to start shouting these things until I fully understand just what is going on.

Can any of you highly trained individuals please help a guy out? This particular spec seems unbeatable in WvW as well as untrackable. What can I do as an average player to help myself out and get the upper hand from time to time?

15+ Bots in Fireheart Rise - All Grouped Together

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Siliconhobbit.4361

Siliconhobbit.4361

So I am currently running through Fireheart Rise clearing the zone. I came up to the Skill Point located Southeast of the Simurgh Waypoint and just West of Breaktooth Waypoint. All of a sudden I see whats got to be 15 or more Botting players running back and forth killing the Embers that continually spawn here.

Whats more impressive is the number of pets they have out. The races run the gamut from humans to asura and at any one time when they all activate their Golem pets, it’s like a menagerie of animals and mechanicals all running back and forth in unison.

The sight is just incredible to see. I’ve spent some time here trying to report all of these bots one by one but there are SO MANY bots here I do not think I can get every single one of them.

I’d take pictures and FRAPS them, but I’d get in trouble for it if I posted them here.

PLEASE come to Fireheart Rise at the above location noted to see these bots in action…it’s simply astonishing.

Bluevale Refuge & The Hill Outside - Exploit/Glitch?

in WvW

Siliconhobbit.4361

While in WvW this evening I noticed several defenders from my own server up on the hill to the LEFT side of Bluevale Refuge Supply Camp (left side if you are looking in from the outside).

From my understanding, this hill area was fixed during Beta Weekends so that players could NOT get up onto it from either side. Our server had been attacked earlier at Bluevale and the enemy went up onto this hill. Now our own server was doing the same thing while trying to defend Bluevale from attack.

Isn’t this area not supposed to be accessible by players and/or siege? I was under the assumption that this was not allowed. I begged my server mates to come down off of this hill, but as you can expect I was pretty much told to go away (this is being polite).

Below are 4 screenshots. All taken with the UI off so no names are shown and no server is implicated. Each image has the location in question clearly marked.

lol only took YB 7 hours of out-numbering us with 3 orbs to take our keep… they waited until we had no defenders and ported 20 golems. I guess you finally learned that’s the only way you will take a keep from us haha

I took part in that, and I’m from YB. I have a video of the Golem attack, and it was actually 5. I’ll post the video later.

Ahem…It was well over 10 (closer to 15) Golems that took Dreadfall Bay. I was the lonely Asura at the Northeast Gate of Dreadfall Bay when I saw them coming. I hustled as fast as I could to the inner gate but was struck down by to many numbers. I didn’t rez and watched an ARMY of Golems come up out of the water and beat down the inner door. We had no time to form up our defenses and get into the Keep Lord’s room. We had a few manning the siege in there but it just wasn’t enough.

The above pictures show just how many zerged Dreadfall Bay. Funny scene is it not?

Update: I’m not sure if this is relevant but this evening while I was in WvW operating a Ballista, the enemy was coming in hard and fast and the MOMENT one of them dropped a Meteor Swarm on my head, the sound bug popped up.

A Change to Conditions / Debuffs After Combat

in Suggestions

Posted by: Siliconhobbit.4361

Siliconhobbit.4361

As it stands now, any condition or debuff placed upon you during combat, that persist after combat, KEEP you in combat. Whether it’s a 5 second, 1 minute or 7 minute condition, you remain in a state of combat even if you are no longer fighting anything. Even if you defeat whatever enemy placed the condition/debuff on you, you will remain in combat as long as that condition is still ticking down.

This is plainly apparent when fighting Tequatl. Once you engage him and subsequently defeat him, his weakness condition/debuff remains after, ticking down and keeping you in combat. After killing him today I stood around for 5 minutes doing nothing, waiting for the debuff to end so I could use a waypoint and leave.

I suggest that after all combat has ended, even if you have a condition/debuff still remaining and ticking down that you actually drop out of combat so you can do out of combat things. Whether that’s teleporting, switching weapons, or even switching out ability so you can use an ability that removes conditions.

As it stands now, conditions and debuffs can keep you in a combat state well after combat has actually ended which seems a bit odd since I am not actually fighting anyone. Mind you I am not suggesting any changes to the actual conditions themselves or what they do. I am only suggesting/asking that even if you have one of these conditions on you that persists AFTER actual combat has ended that it does not KEEP you in a combat state.

Greatsword Change [merged]

Why were Greatsword skills Whirling Wrath, Leap of Faith and Symbol of Wrath moved from their original positions on the hot-bar to the positions they are in now?

They were just fine before and made it convenient to go from Symbol of Wrath on hot-bar #2 immediately into Whirling Wrath at hot-bar #3.

Their positioning now doesn’t make much sense.

I, like many others I would assume, do not like sitting on the Trading Post for hours at time with the hope that I will make a small amount of profit. Even standing at the TP for 30 minutes is not my idea of fun. While I understand other players like to play the market and enjoy the ebb and flow of the economy for me it just represents time taken away from what I like to do. That is playing out in the game world. Whether that’s killing mobs, experiencing dynamic events, running dungeons or playing in WvW.

The TP for me represents just another vendor if you will, allowing me to offload any items I do not need for cash or a vendor where I can get materials I need for crafting, equipment, armor or weapons.

I have no skill when it comes to identifying what buys for less and what sells for high. I have no skill when it comes to identifying a trend in an item that will make a quick turn-around in profit. I have no skill in assessing the economy and using that knowledge to make money.

Because of that and other factors, I am consistently poor. I spend money like it is going out of style. So much so that often times I wonder where it all went to.

Kudos to all of you that can turn a consistent profit on the Trading Post and have everything you’d like in game. I just wish someone would write up a detailed guide on how to do so, so the rest of us in the game can have a bit of success as well.

My current build is the Boon Healing spec. I found this spec during my Beta experience and have had great success with this build now in live release. The spec uses as many boons as possible which buff allies and heal yourself in the process. The spec has high survivability and provides excellent support in dungeon groups. The spec also focuses on shouts for utilities which end up turning allies conditions into boons.

For my own stats I’ve chosen Power, Toughness and Healing and I use a full set of Superior Runes of Dwayna on my armor.

My weapons include a mace and shield and a Greatsword. I often run with a Greatsword for normal soloing and PvP despite the weapons suggested below. When I need to be in full support however I switch out the Greatsword for the Sword and Focus.

You can find all of the relative articles on this spec here:

http://guildwars2grandmaster.com/builds/guardian-boons/

http://guildwars2grandmaster.com/guides/boons-conditions/

Weapon Set

Let’s choose our weapon set first. The mace is a good choice since two out of the three abilities will apply a boon to your allies and the other ability will heal yourself anyway. For your off hand weapon a shield would be another good choice since it applies a boon to your allies and will naturally increase your survivability by increasing your armor. In general if you want higher survivability shields are usually a great choice.
For our second weapon set we are going to pick up the Sword and Focus for added defense and healing. Ray of Judgement is a crucial ability you will be using which can remove a condition from allies and also provide health regen. The last ability, Shield of Wrath, will also be useful in adding to your survivability. It’s up to you when to switch weapon sets but a good time is when your main abilities are on cooldown.

Heal Skill

For our heal skill we are going to improve our support role and pick up Healing Breeze which heals yourself as well as our allies in front of us.

Utility Skills

Another way in which a Guardian can provide boons to allies is through their utility choices. The first utility we want is a shout called Hold the Line! which gives two boons to your allies, protection and health regeneration. The next utility is another shout called Retreat! which grants your allies another two boons, protection and swiftness. The last utility we will be using is Stand Your Ground! which gives grants stability and reflects damage back to the enemy.

Elite Skill

For your elite skill you can continue your supportive role and choose Tome of Courage which locks you in place but grants you powerful support skills such as healing. You don’t want to be caught with this skill on cool down so think twice before using it. After choosing these abilities we are left with eight boons in total that not only support your group but will heal yourself as well.

Traits Breakdown

Now that we have our weapon set ready we need to figure out what traits we will be using. Focusing on Valor and Honor will give us an increase to health, toughness and healing.
First in the Valor trait line you are going to want to pick up Strength in Numbers which gives +30 toughness to allies nearby. Next pick up Honorable Shield which will give you +90 toughness while using a shield. Last, to achieve boon healing you will need to pick up Altruistic Healing. Choosing this trait will provide automatic heals for yourself every time you apply a boon to your allies. Pretty nifty ain’t it? Especially since we have a total of eight boons from our weapon set and utilities we chose earlier.
In the Honor trait line we are going to use Superior Aria which recharges shouts 20% faster giving us a more supportive role and increasing self healing. Next pick up Pure of Heart which heals you when your aegis is removed. Aegis is an automatic buff that the Guardian gets which blocks the next attack. Last pick up Pure of Voice which makes all of your shots also turn an allies condition into a boon. And we are using 3 shouts in this builds so this is very helpful trait.
The last of our trait points are going to be spent in the Virtues trait line. Pick up Retaliatory Subconscious which gives you 3 seconds retaliation every time you are knocked back, stunned, dazed, knocked back or fear.

Wrap Up

This Guardian profession theory on boon healing could prove to be a vital role in groups whether it be in PVP or PVE. Almost every skill you have can benefit your group some how and heal you in return. Not only are you playing a tremendously supportive role but you are increasing your survivability greatly in doing so. We are using three shouts so remember to use them often. They have even more importance since they recharge 20% faster and turn an allies condition into a boon now.

Here is my guardian, decked out in his exotics I finished acquiring this evening.
His helm is from the Temple of Dwayna karma vendor and most of the rest of the gear is Cleric’s Draconic armor. The chest has been transmuted to keep the look of the pit fighter’s chest which I liked better.

Annoying Sound Bug

Siliconhobbit.4361

Happened again this evening in WvW 15 minutes after the match restart. As I was leading my guild’s WvW warband I did not have the option of restarting the game to get rid of the bug as I would have met a queue to get back in. So I slid the left ear-cup of my headset to the side of my head and played WvW for SIX HOURS with this bug while I commanded our forces.

This inconvenience is now becoming a real nuisance that is ruining my game-play.

Sorrow's Furnace vs Darkhaven vs Sanctum of Rall - WUVWUV

I just got a video of Sanctum of Rall exploiting a glitch. Guild LoE was doing it in numbers. Couple others, Ill upload it so you can see it. Essentially we were assualting Garrisson and SoR was just waypointing in even though it was contested. We were at this for 10 minutes before i started recording, and i only got last few minutes before we started to wipe

Using a contested waypoint is indeed possible even IF the keep or castle is under constant attack.

When any structure is under attack a dynamic event pops up. For this example we’ll use a keep: “Defend the keep from the attackers” This Dynamic event lasts 3 minutes and if the attackers are still attacking at that time, the dynamic event begins again. You can see the event constantly repeating itself if the structure you are in is under constant attack or bombardment from siege equipment.

HOWEVER, and this is the ‘fine print point’ I’m going to make. During the few seconds that one “Defend” dynamic event ENDS and the subsequent “Defend” dynamic event STARTS again you have a few precious seconds AT THE MOST when the waypoint becomes UNCONTESTED, allowing it’s use to teleport into the keep. If you are unable to take advantage of these few moments you’ll be stuck running to the keep.

As far as I know, this is NOT an exploit. If there is someone of knowledge that can speak to this matter otherwise or provide a link disputing this, then please weigh in as soon as possible.

I have this problem repeatedly in WvWvW. When the action gets heated and there are many many many players fighting back and forth, suddenly this sound appears and ruins everything. I have to restart the game to get it to stop and on top of that, re-queue for WvWvW. A very big inconvenience.

I have attempted to stop this sound by adjusting every single sound option in game, to no avail. It doesn’t matter what setting I choose, even with little to no sound at all, this bug keeps appearing.

May the Gods that oversee the GW2 gaming world help ArenaNet find the solution to this problem soon. I hate it!

Personal Golem Banker - Time Expired

Currently I saving the expired personal Golem Banker in a bank slot. It is no longer useable and therefore is taking up space in my bank. My question is this:

Will the personal Golem Banker ever get a recharge in the future or should I go ahead and delete it to free up a bank slot?

Thank you!

Why would I sell if the TP prices are at 1 CP above vendor price?

Siliconhobbit.4361

Why would I sell things on the TP if the current market for the items I wish to sell are at 1 copper above vendor price?

For example: Thick leather sections are currently sitting at 8 copper each on the TP. Vendor price for these are at 7 copper each. I can either sell them on the TP for 8 copper each and make a LOSS over the vendor price, or just vendor them.

Many many items on the TP are like this. Why would I want to use the TP over just vendoring them?

Please set me straight if I am missing some important detail. Thank you.

WvWvW Jumping Puzzles - Seperate Instance from Main Battlegrounds

in WvW

Posted by: Siliconhobbit.4361

Siliconhobbit.4361

I did indeed read your whole post and I fail to see how one could lose their spot in a WvWvW queue if they go into an instanced PvP puzzle in the suggestion I made above.

If you queue for WvWvW and go into a PvE instance, do you lose your place in queue? Nope. The queueing system (I hope) would work in exactly the same manner as it does now:

  1. You try to go into Eternal Battlegrounds and get a queue.
  2. You queue up for Eternal battlegrounds and decide to do a PvP jumping puzzle while you wait for queue pop
  3. You progress along in the jumping puzzle and 1/2 way through the puzzle the queue pops up and asks if you want to travel to the Eternal battlegrounds.
  4. You accept the queue, enter into Eternal Battlegrounds and leave the jumping puzzle.

I guess I can clarify that the ENTRANCE to the PvP jumping puzzles would have to be located OUTSIDE of the battlegrounds/borderlands and no longer accessible from inside those lands. To leave them inside the battlegrounds would defeat the purpose of having them separate from the battlegrounds to begin with. Entrance to these puzzle would have to be accessed in the PvE realm…or even ideally, the Mists.

What is the issue again?
