This is a pretty long skirmish on the WvW map. What did you want, footage of a door getting disassembled splinter by splinter? A big zerg mopping the keep floor with a smaller zerg?

It’s not ganking, nobody died one-sidedly or in repetition.

It’s not roaming, he’s with other people in a fixed area outside an objective.

He’s not dueling, there’s tons of stuff happening all at once.

There was nothing structured about it.

Come back when you know anything about what you’re talking about.

That’s not true, Guardians don’t have the same burst damage as Warriors, but our sustained damage is higher if built properly for damage.

My full Power with a 30/0/10/30/0 build deals 950~1050, 950~1050, 1600~1900 with the Greatsword’s auto-attack.
My Warrior only gets 1050~1150, 1050~1150, 1350~1500 only when I’m at 3 bars of adrenaline + 10 stacks of Might or more (Signet of Rage + For Great Justice).

In WvW FT1 great decent damage to mass of ppl. should have more burning becuase of misses. Fixed FT2 thank you gods of tyria! I nuke 2-5k aoe blasts siding with statistic discharge. FT3 good knockback learn to use it. FT4 needs complete fix. FT5 needs boost. AOE blind is cool but really meeh skill 5. FT1 is not supposed to do rifles auto. for example fightin in group over sup camp i strafe alot spamming FT1 + 2 aoe damage and when get too close 3. Very good support for team and deffinately worth the slot.

The Guardian Staff is a healing support weapon.

I’m laughting hard, thank you.

Why? That’s what it is. Sure it has Line of Warding, but it is for the most part a support weapon. Unless you’re trying to say something about its #1 skill’s wide arc.

Most Guardians use it purely for Empower and slap an Energy sigil on it for free Endurance. Beyond that, there’s not much point sticking to it unless you’re doing things like kiting in AC path 2.

How many times I need to repeat to you obvious (for experienced WvWer, sure) things? Guard staff#1 have more range (600 vs 425), more target limit (5 vs 3),the same DPS (per each target), less attacks per second (1-2 vs 5: forget about retaliation nightmare) and no misses on moving enemies.
Guardian by himself have incredible group supporting traits and utility (for WvW). Even if remeber about FT#2 – Guardian’s staff far better than Engineer’s FT.

I love Engineer and Flamethrower but untill it will not buffed for WvW – FT still not worth, trust me.

I feel useless as a Zerker war

Consider investing 20 points in tactics and take the quick breathing trait for war horn. I find war horn with trait bonus far more useful than a shield during that fight. It not only helps you, it helps everyone. Many times will party members suffer from burning, which a traited warhorn turns burning into Aegis. That aegis alone will migrate a lot of potential damage for the group when dodge won’t be enough or available.

It also helps when the lava elementals spawn and break the immobilize spam. Warhorn is also a more group friendly tool than shield. It also gives you access to a reliable amount of vigor for dodging.

You can also invest in Inspiring Banners and run Banner of Discipline. That alone will help boost group DPS.

As a warrior, and to be a great one, you should carry all the weapons for specific moments and aim to get used to them. We can’t main just one weapon to handle every situation perfectly.

Do not forget also about Runes of Soldier and using at least 2 shouts (“For great voice spam!” and “Shake it off”) – it will be perfect combo with the Vigorous Shouts trait (Tactics, XII)

I’m sorry, but this is strictly a L2P issue. If you can’t handle Retaliation/Confusion in this game, regardless of class/build you’re using, you simply are not very good at this game.

at 1242 healing power my bombs heal for 275 each, I can lay them 1 per half second, so 2 per sec. Backpack regenerator does not scale with Healing Power, so it gives me 128 every half second, and regular regeneration buff which does scale off of healing power gives me 291 HP every half sec.

So every half second I heal for 694 HP, or 1,388 per second, actually.

So, your own HPS equal 1388 and HPS for allies equal to 550?

Doesn’t you think it is so pathetic healing for the grandmaster trait? I do and will never use my Engineer for healing allies.
Even for yourself – when you have deal with 3k+ DPS…

As much as I dislike the nerf to Kit refinemnt, let’s not forget this patch was mostly buffs to kits.
And a few fixes we waited for…

How did they nerf FT for WvW?
Aside the Kit refinement mess, I don’t see anything about the FT that is now worse in WvW…
I can agree that it’s maybe not good enough yet, but surely it didn’t get worse than before, let alone ‘ruined’?

I hardly play spvp and I’m basically in WvW most of my playing time. What changes am I missing here?
(again, aside Kit refinement which I hate as a change).

Personally I sort of figured it was too strong. But being a WvW player myself, I understand the harsh impact it has on Flamethrower engineers in WvW.

The food was too strong in my opinion, but that didn’t mean the FT engineer was too strong at all (even with the food…).

Silly I didn’t figure out it was about the food. My brain was locked on the engineer only changes.

Stop your irony and read this:

This is so shame:
You hitting 3 targets under retaliation. Retal will hits you for 300-350 per hit!
So, 10 hits for 2 seconds multiple by 3 targets equal 30 hits.
Multiple it by 300 equal 9000.
You will hit yourself for the NINE THOUSANDS damage while your targets will recieve only 3k (4k with crits!) each.
Earlier we have compensation in Omnomberry food, but now…

with the flamethrower being a mad crit proccing machine and with that +10% on burning targets buff i started thinking about taking up points in explosives again for the burn on crit trait. Increasing total burn uptime in such a manner the +10% should basically be up 24/7.

Try to read that trait description more accurate, than think about it’s usefulness for the FT

I’ve already responded to this point.

Anyone properly geared to run the Flamethrower is going to have at least 40% crit percentage, if not nearer to 50%. Even with 6/6 Soldier’s insignia armor, which adds zero Precision, just from wearing Emerald jewelry and having 30 points in Firearms you’ll have 44% crit.

That means that, on average, out of the 10 strikes Flame Jet channels over 2.5 seconds, 4-5 of them will crit.

With a 33% chance to Burn on crit, that means you’re pretty much going to have that proc every time you shoot a Flame Jet. 2-second Burn. Every 2.5 second channel. And then there’s a 1-second Burn at the end of each Flame Jet. So you’ve got 3 seconds of Burning for each Flame Jet channel.

The 3-second cool down on Incendiary Powder doesn’t matter, because it takes about half a second before you start your next Flame Jet channel. Like I iterated before, you get about 5-6 Flame Jet streams per 15 seconds.

And if you’re running defensively and don’t feel comfortable with where your crit percentage is at, you can use Napalm Specialist or Condition Duration food to compensate. But this is not necessary.

Do I need to make a YouTube video about this too? Maybe I should start making a list.

Mechanics of the “bla-bla by crit (N sec cooldown)” triggers/food/sigils.
It will works only at ONE target from ALL, affected by AOE. You can use FT toolbelt – it will burn only 1, maybe 2 targets (coz only 3 hits, blocks/misses/evades included, lol). Guardian procs – only 1 target or zero (the same as for IA but only 1 hit). Path 1 trait – only 1 target (coz 3 sec CD). Napalm – very easy to evade from it’s lol-low area and, for sure, noone with brain will not stay in it’s flame.

I’m repeating this for you at the third time – what’s wrong with your brain?

I really didn’t see any troubles for the ordinary PvE (even not dungeons) - it all can be done even non-traited, naked and with #1 skill of the any weapon.
So do not warry about that - just kill the mobs, do the events, complete hearts, etc.

Ranger is only good in tpvp because people are forced to stand on points, and thus traps are effective.

Everywhere else, rangers are garbage. Their damage is garbage, half of his damage is the pet that dies to a sneeze in fights greater than 5 people, and the pet is single target. The engineer has way better cc and better utility besides being better damage.

The same about Engineer.
Maybe second part will starts with “At the WvW…”

I’m curious to see what kind of Bunker builds can come out of Elixir Gun, and whether or not a decent damage build for PvP can come out of the Flamethrower and break into the scene. Everyone always underreacts to changes in general saying they weren’t enough, and then never tries anything. Some weeks or months later, we get builds that are suddenly seen as overpowered.

Case in point, Trap Rangers. They all moaned and groaned that even though traps became unblockable they were still useless. Today, it’s an entirely different story. Because people actually experimented and played things in ways that people as a whole hadn’t though of before.

The Kit Refinement nerf was in my opinion the wrong way to accomplish whatever it was that was trying to be accomplished, but it doesn’t make us dead by any means.

Your post mostly about sPvP. Open your eyes – there is not only sPvP in the game and sPvP – it’s minor part, trust me.

Full zerkers gear increases crit damage by 50% not counting runes and sigils.

With runes/jewelry it can be more than 100% – my Bers Elem have 98% but with Knight runes in gear (Tou/preci/power)

Man, I see – you will arguing like hell now.
Just two upper points:
1. Fear is condition. Condition without a lot stacks or huge long – nothing. You must know that. But, sure, this can not be spoken in the forum-fight, lol
2. So, rifle#4 – “a lot” ? Another utility skills using very rarely and, sure, not in the our two-left-cool-builds. And, sure, you can’t have it all at the same time or change in battle etc.

Is that how you defend your points? By saying thing without backing your facts?

You can stack an average amount of bleed, near perma poison, near perma burning, some good chilling, better then average confusion, perma weakness with EG, perma vuln with grenade, lot of immobilize, cripple and blind.

Sure it’s hard to keep all this up, but good rotation can pull it off. If you think it’s not enought, I don’t know what to say.

We have #4 rifle, big ol bomb, tumper turret, every turret if traited, shield 4, personal battering ram, slick shoe, throw mine.

I think that’s pretty much the higest amount of CC option a class can have in this game.

And did you say you never use rifle #4? That’s prolly the best attack on the rifle. And 100nade is still viable, and static discharge isn’t that bad ether and use it.

I have the feeling you arg only to args.

You might want to try each class in sPvP (acces to all skills) to see which one you prefer. It’s not about the class forces, it’s about the fun factor.

With omnomberry ghost and fury (around 80% critical chance) you get spammed with 330hp recovery.

Kit refinement trait just kinda ruined the actual high lvl PvP build “100Nades” and if its not enough.. it hurt all others build that are not elixir based. Hey ANet … why dont you put a 10 sec cooldown on the ele “Elemental attunement” trait?! Engineer was the most unplayed class and you just simply destroyed it. 100nades build didnt need a nerf since you need alot of precision in your movement to land all your nades else you will miss your burst and do almost no dmg. Alot have tried 100nades build. ALOT have failed to master it. Now we are left with nothing. We are back to the bottom of the list, with no build viable left.
Sincerely, An engineer nerfed to the bone.

The most FT1 can hit for is 30x (10x each target, 3targets). If you are hitting 5 targets, they will on average be hit 6x each, LOWERING your dps per target by a lot.

How often are you purposely fighting 3 to 5 targets (now without the mega lifesteal food)? How often do you get 5 players (not monsters) bunched up? How often do you fight more than 1 boss at a time?

if it will be 5 targets, so FT1 will totally deal 50 hits! (10*5)

How often? O.o Every day for a few hours! Did you know about WvW button?

I have a Flamethrower build and I haven’t had any issues. FT is crazy mobile if you have any idea how to move your mouse. I’m constantly running around things burning them to death and I do pleanty of damage. I’m so happy they fixed the napalm, the was the only really issue I ever had with FT. The burning buff with air blast is sweet too.

All about WvW! And this thread is not about "Your feeling s from FT"

Engineer:
- We can deliver every conditions in the game
Not "all", but "many", and Necro will do that a way more better and faster

- A lot of crowd control
What can be really easy to avoid

- A lot of different build
mostly useless and youself confirmed it in the "cons" part

- Fast paced fight, really few casting delay.
Nothing special, look at the thieves of d/d elems

- Kit swapping is really interresting.
at 1st day. All other time it’s boring

- Good burst on some build.
not "some" but "two" or even "one"

- Can be a roamer.
as every single class

- Can be really hard to play.
Not "can" but "will"

- Few useful build in tPvP.
not "few" but "two" or even "one"

Ranger:
- Pet are independant from stats ? You can build tanky ranger and still have good damage output.
Yeah, with the "glass" or "two-hits" pet, cool

- Good variety of pet.
Yup. But only 2 or 3 are useful

- Traps ranger are awesome.

- Good Farming class

- Top class in tPvP meta
Yet top

- Best condition removal trait

- Nice traits stats disposition
So-so. There is way more better classes in that - thief, for example

- unkillable underwater
Strange argument. 1st is "not" and 2nd is "Underwater - only 5% of time"

3. Last tick of the FJ cause burn for all targets, ok. By ONE second! But FJ lasts for 2,25 sec. So will have +10% damage boost only for half-time. In the another words they buff FT damage only by 5%.

This can be perfectly rectified in solo-play by traiting 10/30/0/20/10 going for Incendiary Powder. Tried it myself last night. The loss of Energy Conversion Matrix kind of sucks, but I would have to sustain 10 different buffs at once (i.e., all of them) to match the damage increase from Burning.

I still content that this is totally unnecessary in groups. Between you and a Guardian burning for every fifth attack this is seriously not an issue.

Obviously you ignored my post about stuff with cooldown mechanics.

And way more cleare – you didn’t know anything about Guardians.

Can’t answer you more than that.
