Time to roll a different class?

Sure I’m negative. They are nerfed us as hell, but there is a lot of PVEers and sPVPers (who using 1-2 same builds) who talking “hey, all is OK!”

Time to read signets?

I do well in tPvP with P/P condi, P/S condi, rifle condi, nade and power builds.
Got a little bit less condi removal in EG/FT builds, and yes that is bad. I did rage too, but only for a few minutes. I started playing different, and that worked out really well for me.

Any chance you will not telling to another ppls what to do?
I hate arenas, really can’t realize why ppls playing it, but I’m not going to the sPvP threads with my very “useful” (to them sure) advices, based on WvW experience.
maybe you will do the same?

FT build with 2 sigil of strength ?

They share the same cool down so having a second one gives you a slightly higher chance to gain might.

I can say more: every sigils with cooldown mechanics will share their cooldowns.
I.e. mostly useless have at the same time sigils of Strenght and Fire

In the builds thread, a FT build similar to this was described,

Where Juggernaut and HGH ramp up stacks of might, and runes of Hoelbrak, Strength, and Fire buff might duration along with your +30% boon duration from Alchemy. The author said he could maintain 25 stacks of might.

My question is this- have you guys factored in the 25 stacks of might when you compare FT to grenade or bomb kit? I suppose if you do not build for it or gear for it or use buff food for it, it might be hard to get that much might. Has anyone tried this build since the most recent patch?

You hitting 3 targets under retaliation. If you have good power, especially under 25 Might, Retal will hits you for 400-450 per hit!
So, 5 hits/sec multiple by 3 equal 15. multiple it by 400 equal 6k. Add 2nd second of the Flame Jet – another 6k
You will hit yourself for the TWELVE THOUSANDS damage while your targets will recieve only 4k (5k with crits!) each.

You mean that one time when your opponent actually had retaliation up? You know you can stop attacking, hit another target, and then go back again, right? Or, you know you can do something other than just mindlessly fire FT 1, right? Like a knockback?

If you learn to read your opponents, you know that you shouldn’t attack because retal is up, or because you have confusion (which is, imo, deadlier to the FT engie than retal), or whatever.

Do you just run into masses of foes and try to spread FT 1 around and expect it to be uber dmg without the frustration of dying? If so, you are doing it wrong.

You know, good teams in the WvW have perma-Retaliation upped at everyone?

And if you learn to read posts you will stop posting your lol-PVE advices to the WvWer.

i started as a engi and i wont change, i love the class to much.

Why do you still play?

All I can say – you didn’t know anything about another classes, so you are bad choise for ally in the WvW or sPvP.

try to choose Elem, Warrior or Thief - they are good as is. And the new love of the devs - Guardian.

Kit refinement nerf didnt seem to go through, there is no IDC atm. Abuse this before they nerf it.

This is bad if they force us to abuse some bugs of our mechanic instead of give us straight and legal ways to be a good choise to play…

This, while I’m sure you will disagree with me, is something that needed to be nerfed. All other on-crit effects in the game have cooldowns and not only was it exceedingly strong it didn’t make any sense in comparison. The food it still good, but it’s exceptional cases are now capped so that it performs similar to the rest of the food out there.

If together with the retaliation nerf (it will reflect part of damage once per 2 second) - yes, I will agree.
If together with FT buff (remove 5 hits/sec from FJ or make it unaffected by Retaliation) - yes, I will agree.

If only Omnomberry nerf - I will hardly disagree, coz it’s HUGE nerf for FT.

Question about ranger utility skills that aren’t being used and how it hasn’t been addressed yet.
Colin: I actually have no idea right now what stuff that group is working on. I’d have to check in on them and see when I get back. But one of the big things that we’ve kicked up recently is basically and analytics team that records all the data in the game. It allows us to look at that and help make decisions about the things we’re doing. They’re actually the group that helped us find a lot of the loot issues recently. Because we really just didn’t have any information to get that stuff. We kicked this team up so that we could get all of that information. It’s incredibly useful to have all of that stuff so that we can figure things out. Without that you’re kind of flying blind. We’re able to look now at what weapons are getting used all the time and we use that date to determine what weapons really suck and go and try to fix those. And what kind of skills are getting used, which ones aren’t. It really helps us determine what needs a boost. So I imagine if no one is using a bunch of the ranger utility skills, they’re going to see that and look at those and go try to address those based on that data. So hopefully that’s on the list if no one is using those subset […].

Name one MMO that doesn’t have aoe everywhere, and where the aoe doesn’t break stealth. The point of stealth is to roam the map and give u a massive advantage in 1v1 encounters. Assassins/Thiefs are known to be squishy and they dont belong in massive teamfights in any MMO.

Warhammer Online, SWTOR.
To roam the map you have speed signet or mounts (in the another games).
Stealth – just a kind of defense in the actual fight.

Infused elixer bombs and might stacking is probably your only real option, but I don’t find it a very useful build tbh. Stay at 1500 and throw grenades instead I guess?

retal spam? lol i dont feel it dude really, 2K toughtness 21K pv and good mates in my warband, i play FT every night, doing like 100+ insignias each night, few dies , playing division 2

stop cry about retalliation, nades are good for attack or defend a static point but FT is more effective on open fight ( 70% of time ), if i wanna play support, i go guardian, i wanna dps i play FT, nades and bombs are fun, best, but not the optimal dps, and i spent 150po in stuff and build for test all the build, FT is the best in survability and damage

And your 2k TOU is LOL – I have 3,2k TOU also as 3k attack, 60% critchance with 40% critpower at my FT-Engi.

Uh, bomb has a pulsing blind and a knock back on a more reliable AoE (circle not cone).

And? Do you wanna be just debuffer with your Engi? I’m not – I wanna deal a tons of damage.
And circle means being more deeper in the enemies zerg or just directly inside it.

What about full berseker nade rifle type build? Is that fun in wvw?

Against PRO-enemies (high tiers obviusly) you will going down in seconds. If it will be fun – go on.
low-tiers – you can wear anything and even nothing.

Sure, coz Bomb #1 - cast-time and 1 sec time lag before blast makes this kit not so good.

But in overall damage and usefulness - Bomb kit way better than FT. Especially after omnom food nerf

God, so many noobs (or just trolls??) in thread?

This patch - it’s just a spit in the face of Engineers.

Let me clear something for those, who never used FT or used it ocasionally

1. AOE limit.
Only THREE targets. All another AOE (for every class) have FIVE targets limit and only Flame Jet have THREE. Why? Just freakin why?
Coz it was too IMBA with Omnomberry food? But this food already nerfed! Turn back our AOE-limit!
Coz it can be suicidal against Retaliation? So fix that freakin Retaliation, not Flame Jet!

2. Mechanics of the "bla-bla by crit (N sec cooldown)" triggers/food/sigils.
It will works only at ONE target from ALL, affected by AOE. You can use FT toolbelt - it will burn only 1, maybe 2 targets (coz only 3 hits, blocks/misses/evades included, lol). Guardian procs - only 1 target or zero (the same as for IA but only 1 hit). Path 1 trait - only 1 target (coz 3 sec CD). Napalm - very easy to evade from it’s lol-low area and, for sure, noone with brain will not stay in it’s flame.
And (I was laughting as hell after reading that kitten somewhere above, really!) Sigil of Fire- it’s only AOE-damage, not burn!

3. Last tick of the FJ cause burn for all targets, ok. By ONE second! But FJ lasts for 2,25 sec. So will have +10% damage boost only for half-time. In the another words they buff FT damage only by 5%.
Food for Cond Dur? lolwut? Power engi need to eat food for condition duration/damage? Where is logic?

4. Air blast. It will add 2 sec of burning to the already burned(!) targets. Great. So, I’ll do 1st channel of the FJ , then push my targets... out of cone of fire of the FJ ? Who that "genius" who created this? It’s just an Fatality Facepalm!

5. Something about logic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flamethrower
How can liquid do not cause burning at every tick? Let it will add something around 0.2 sec of burn with EVREY hit. It will not IMBA, but more handful, than useless IA toolbelt.

How can liquid flame hit only THREE targets with so huge flame cone??

How I can blast napalm sphere at the any distanse? Am I installed remote control to it? More logical if it will blast at the 1st collision.

How the hell napalm can lay on the ground in the straight line? (the same question about Molotov Coctail item) No, really, HOW? Maybe developers need to take some consultations from the Vietnam veterans, huh?

why FT toolbelt have so big cooldown? Bomb or Grenade toolbelts have 2 times lesser cooldown but deals 2-3 times more damage and much more useful!
IA must have 15 sec CD, not 60!

Guys, really, If you dunno anything about REAL (not PVE nor sPVP) Engineers, please, leave thread - this will help to Engineers a lot. Thank you very much.

As someone that also has a decked out Guardian … the grass is always greener on the other side.

maybe, Engineers still have 1-2 viable builds for 1vs1 fights but for massive fights - sorry, Engineer now fully useless waste of the warband/buffs spot
And Guardian, D/D Elem (LOL, cloth user!!!!) or Warrior are faaaaar better than Engineer.

FT toollbelt skill is completely worst - it must have 10-15 sec cooldown, not more and especially not 60 sec!

keep in mind that you would have to go to med kit to get Altruism to work and this will mess up FT’s stacking

ps: check out enchance performance ( explosives X ), gives 3 might whenever you use med kit, goes well with Altruism and you would be stacking 9 mights just by going on med kit

Don’t forget this is kinda trick and it will be nerfed (fixed) too - what you’ll say after that?

@SilverWF — calm down just a little bit, please. Your entire post about ArenaNet is just simply fabricated nonsense. Phineas and others are trying to have a rational discussion while you’re slamming them and calling them trolls. I understand you are not a fan of the Kit Refinement change, but you don’t have to be nasty to your fellow players in explaining that.

If honestly, I’m not so disappointed from KR nerf as from Omnomberry food nerf, coz it makes FT mostly useless and weak kit for the massive battles.

And sorry – there wasn’t anything personal in my words.

2. Lol, stop dreaming, theorycrafter. I’ve tryed Sup Sigil of Strenght with the Juggernaut trait and, you kow... it’s impossible to stack more than 10-12 stacks of Might. Dreamer ^^
3. It was a obvious bug - regen from HT healed by... 5 (FIVE!) HP! Lol! EG#5 still useless.
4. Wow, you will use FT only for #2? Wanna see that
5. Even with 5 elems and guards FT dps still too low. And if remeber about retaliation and about Omnomberry nerf - usinf FT is really dangerous.

Stop dreaming and login to game and come to the WvW at the high tiers. You will be wondered about Engineer "strengh", I promise.

1. Let me be clearer--you could use Sigil of Bloodlust and then swap to your Flamethrower, but Sigil of Bloodlust would not increase in stacks off kills used with bundles like Engi kits. And I don’t think I need to tell you what 10% extra crit damage from my pistols does to my Flamethrower.

2. I’m not theorycrafting.

Juggernaut gives 7 stacks of Might.
Sigil of Strength gives 5 stacks of Might.
Rune of Altruism gives 3 stacks of Might.

That’s a flat 15 stack of Might I can keep up all the time that can be further re-enforced through food and group buffs. I don’t usually bother trying to hit 25 all by myself because in group situations that’s usually already done for me. I just make sure I have at least 15 on me by swapping to Rune of Altruism which grants me 3 stacks of Might and Fury for my entire group.

3. Not sure what you’re talking about with Healing Turret. I just tested dropping it and picking it back up and gave me 165 health/second with Zerker/Ruby gear.

4. Don’t recall saying I "only use FT" for any one skill. I use Flame Jet fairly often because it’s the easiest method to getting full potency from Sigil of Strength, but it’s not beyond me to use the other 4 skills on the bar as often as they come up/are as needed.

5. I’m not scared.

6. I’m not sure what you mean by "higher tiers." I play on Sanctum of Rall. We’re second only to Jade Quarry at the moment.

Yes, my Engi using P/P or P/S weapons. Dislike rifles since point 1 fix.
5’n’6 So, now, try to find really big and famous WvW guild and take part in everyday mass WvW fights for month or so

Two-handed kits have a Power stat like ... one handed Exo Pistol have, not two-handed Rifle even if rifle currently equipped!
And (this is most funny moment) - not like DUAL pistols, but like ONE SINGLE pistol! God, LOL, is it was Buff too??

I’ve understood something...

1. There is a TONS of Elems, Thieves and Warriors around - it’s obvious and visible to anyone.
What if they will nerf them, coz this classes REALLY need to be nerfed?
You all can imagine that: a HUGE tons of the whine threads at forums, massive leaving game, bad reputation, etc.

2. How many Engineers around who are really playing Enginers most of the time? Really low number.
What will happens if they are nerfing us? generally, nothing: 2-3 whine threads - it can be easly handled with just one moderator.

3. Why they need to nerf someone?
very easy: Arena.NET have top-management. They are didnt know anything about their own game, over it’s name: no any classes, no any builds, no any WvW ratings or sPvP ladders - nothing. Only they are know - the game with name "Guild Wars 2" exists, this is their own game and that’s all.

But sometimes one of the Top-managers hear some strange thing, what everyone talking about: "Huge class disbalanse in the GW2!! This game not so good as they promised!"
He saying to the mid-manager: "Hey! WTF with balanse in the our game? Investigate it and fix it!"

Mid-manager talking to low-manager: "Hey! WTF with balanse in the our game? Investigate it and fix it!"

Low-manadgement and community management know about points 1 and 2 (see above). They are nerfing Engineers, waiting for some "Why Engineers nerfed again??" threads, showing it to the upper management with commets "Disbalanse was fixed!" and all is done.
managment will have a good dreams, OP-classes will pwn all around as always. What? how about Engineers? God, who cares about low-popularity class?!

Couldn’t disagree more.

  • They’ve made it to where sigils and weapon damage accumulate into kit damage.
  • They’ve changed the Flamethrower from a tank kit into a Might-stacking damage dealing kit (which can really get quite ridiculous with 25 Might and 25 Bloodlust).
  • They’ve increased the Healing Power coefficient for Healing Turret and now Super Elixir (the previous “nerf” was actually a fix).
  • They’ve made Flame Blast much easier to use as PBAoE DPS
  • Flame Jet now gets a flat 10% damage increase any time your target is burning (i.e., 100% of the time if you’re with an Ele and Guard).

Some people may be unhappy, but the FT/EG build has simply gotten stronger month by month. It’s now gotten to the point where I may just drop Kit Refinement and run 10-20 points in Inventions since Super Elixir works better with Cleric’s/Healing Power now.

I understand another classes recieving nerfs too, but with huge buffs too and:
Engineers are still underpowered
We are recieving nerfs mostly. Even if in the patch notes we will see some "buff" - it will be very little and there will be a huge nerf too.

Overpowered mobs in Fireheart Rise

Went to the area in question and found that I’m being downleveled to level 63 when the enemies are level 69. I was able to kill a couple of charr but they kept respawning. I’m level 80 in full exotic knights gear, ended up going down and dying after using all my dodges and shouts.

this is the new level scaling system.

It would help developers parse through the hundreds of threads of posts worth of feedback if people would use descriptive, concise thread titles. Thread titles consisting of half sentences (i.e. "I think that...") or titles that are too vague (i.e. "Skills") are really not helpful. Those sorts of titles give no indication of what a thread is about, so most readers will simply skip them.

Wow, so why all devs still ignoring both of my threads about Flamethrower suggestions and Combat chat but you have answered in the thread with the "too vague" name like this one?

The food nerf was expected, let’s be honest here. 2-3k healing per second was over the top.

5-10k DPS from Elems, Thieves and Warriors with way better defense isn’t over the top? Why they are still not nerfed?

FTers - power builds, coz all of FT damage is from POWER.
What point in the burning with 300 damage per second? We asked for another buff, but they are give us something useless.

Only idiots will stay in the Napalm flame, especially with it’s very low area.

FT toolbelt? This LOL-skill with ONE MINUTE cooldown? Even Grenade Barrage (grenade toolbelt) and Oil Bomb (Bomb toolbelt) have only 30sec CD but this skills a way more useful!

Flame Jet puts only ONE second of burning with the LAST tick, but FT channeling continues for 2,25 sec. So we will have +10% damage only for the half of Flame Jet channeling. In the another words they are buffed damage of Flame Jet only by 5%

How you can not understand so obvious things??
