I like the idea of the dragon, because there’s already a bit of pve in wvw and it sounds exciting. I don’t like the idea that it’d stop the wvw though. We should always be able to attack each other, if we want to.
Mmm. Keyboard rage. I have a steelseries somethingrather. It always does what I tell it to, meaning I can’t blame it for anything. How I hate that. Thank god it weighs more than I do.
There’s already a limit to the number of clones or phantasms a mesmer can have at any time. It’s 3. Why would limiting the number of each kind make a difference? Apart from making it more irritating by having to switch weapons to summon all three, anyway.
I answered your question in the description. You should read the post in it’s entirety.
I did read it all, and I don’t understand. You just want to make it harder to summon clones/phantasms? Sightly barely harder? No, I don’t understand, except I guess you’re asking for a nerf of some kind, as others say. It’s an odd nerf. I don’t get it.
I think this is a pretty interesting way to look at it. I hadn’t considered it. It’s nice when a quest gives us a moral question to ponder instead of just “fight fight fight.”
I felt sad for Apatia because she told me she didn’t like our plan and I forced her to do it anyway, but yeah—this is interesting.

I can see the arguments against it…

I suggested it as I cannot honestly see anything bad about it!
:P
Time of day will have a lot to do with it, as will new living world content, and wvw reset. My world (Blacktide) is by no means deserted, but I can avoid or find people if I want to.
Absolutely not. Not everyone can only play 9am to 9pm.
And no EU servers? I.. just.. what?! How would this help anything?
If you’d like a better chance to get through the pvp JPs, they’ve made some fountains available that will make you entirely invisible for a few minutes.
This doesn’t help when enemies are waiting at the start of the JP. Nor it help you once you reach the torch part … basically it only help you for like 20% of the JP, and furthermore, sometimes enemies wait especially there to hunt those who want to be left alone.
It’s true, the fountains are just a bit of assistance and won’t let you skip the pvp element of the puzzle entirely. But if they did, they may as well put the puzzle into pve. Which is what the OP requested, I suppose, but I’d still rather they didn’t. You don’t have to be a griefer to love the this JP for its psychology alone.
I have a great suggestion. Please stop posting “anyone who disagrees with me is a fanboi” threads on the forums. I don’t know anyone who likes them.
I do like jumping puzzles.
My first experience with a commander was as a lowbie in PVE. I saw this blue thing and chased after it. It turned out to be a group of 20 or so people, more than I’d seen (I hadn’t been in wvw yet.) We zerged around the map and a had a lot of fun. Yes, things became much easier, but nobody seemed to care. I could have done it alone but it was fun to have the group.
I don’t see this very often, but it’d be too bad if it was made impossible. It’d be good to toggle a private commander tag for groups, but disabling it in PVE entirely isn’t necessary just because we don’t like to see them standing around LA.
I have too much fun opening them to save them for anything. I’ve discovered some great colours this way. Made no money, but it’s a thrill.
Ok I admit, I laughed…
:P
Sometimes when I instruct my pet to attack a gate it says it’s too far away, even though we’re standing next to it. It’s usually the corner of the keep messing with its AI. I have to move over a smidge and then it sees it. It’s kind of funny—like my pet is blind in one eye. Er, when I put it that way it’s more tragic than funny…
This is a good idea. Splitting up the suggestions forum generally is a good idea, so the team in charge of this or that part of the game has a better idea where to look. The forums are busy, so things slip off the first page pretty quickly.
The queues are random? How does that even make sense… Yow.
Not that it matters on BT. Maybe they’re random to convince high pop wvw servers to transfer.
You have a lot of different options with an engineer, kits and so forth. You have pet options with a ranger but I find them more straightforward overall. Keep in mind more straightforward doesn’t always mean more fun.
I’d like this. Overall I’d like our order to have more of an effect on the game generally, beyond the first half of the personal stories.
For people who love wvw (like me) the pvp element is what makes these JPs fun, so I’d rather they didn’t remove it. There are a lot of JPs outside of the wvw/pvp area and just a couple inside it.
If you’d like a better chance to get through the pvp JPs, they’ve made some fountains available that will make you entirely invisible for a few minutes.
I’ve been in contact with customer support for some time trying to figure out the issues I’ve had with just one character. Eventually we discovered a proxy server helped, so I’ve been told it has nothing to do with the character. I understand the logic behind that, and how bizarre it seems to believe otherwise. But I’ve also been the one playing hours and hours so I know what I’ve experienced and I’m curious if anyone else has experienced the same thing.
Basically, when I play my ranger for a while in wvw I begin to have connectivity issues. Characters disappear and reappear, and it takes 2-3 minutes (yes, minutes… I’m not exaggerating) for skills to perform after I press buttons. It becomes unplayable. Sometimes waypoints won’t load at all. I’m on a low-pop T8-9 server and it doesn’t seem to have much to do with the skill lag other people report. I can be in a small group in an abandoned BL and it still happens. I’ve also gone back into PVE and had the problems continue. I can log off and on again and the problems persist, unless I log off that character until the next day.
However, logging in with another character fixes the problems. I’ve never had the problems even begin with other characters. I have three others to level 80, and over 500 hours of play time, and the only time I have these issues is with my ranger.
Another person in my guild has found he occasionally has trouble getting to wvw at all with one character, and when it happens he has to wait a day or so before it will let him in even if other characters are okay. I had that happen with my ranger too, before it evolved to these other issues.
I just want to know: has anyone else experienced anything like this?
A hello and a hearty lmao to the two UW members of Earth Find or similar, [EF] anyway, who found me at the kite in the obsidian jumping puzzle. I’d already got the kite, and finished the jp that day, and I was hanging out considering what to do before I logged for dinner. You waved. I waved back. Then you both killed me. Hilarious. So I had to find something else to do until my dinner was ready, kitten you.
Being able to play in lower level areas, playing with friends or on your own, is one of the greatest things about the pve areas. If I was massively overpowered it’d just be dull.
You’ve never played an mmo where high level players messed up the low level areas for low level players? Wow. Where can I find these lovely kind players?
How is it possible that my skills wont work, but when i press /dance my character responds directly lol?
Anet wants you to make love, not war.
It’ll get worse before it gets better. BT is having a tough time this week so all our whiners are threatening to transfer to T1.
I’m not enjoying this matchup that much. I’m used to being outnumbered but I’m not used to high pop servers upgrading and sieging our BL so much, so we’re really struggling to find the fun. Not that I’m saying “you shouldn’t do this!” because of course you should do what you want, it’s war. But if you really want to farm us, give us a chance to flip the keeps back and forth with you.
waits for the inevitable kitten storm as someone complains I’m asking for a handout or giving up too easy or or or…
I’m really pleased with the bazaar! I’m not a fan of jumping puzzles but getting up to the Zephyr was crazy fun, and I managed to the Best… Dive… Ever, which shocked me. The short story up at the website today, about the Zephyrites, is very sweet and sad. This is a beautiful and fun new area and I’m impressed. Thank you!
The constructive bit of my feedback, since I guess there should be something concrete, is I like areas like this where a lot of people can run around having fun and gather. LA is sometimes like this, but I’d be thrilled if the bazaar stayed as a more funky place to hang out, too.
I have a similar issue, where just one of my characters can’t access wvw while the others are fine. I’ve already filed a support ticket, so that’s fine, but I’ve now been asked to reinstall my graphics drivers.
Does anyone have an idea why I’m being asked to do this, since it’s just the one character that has the issue? I’m very curious.
It was removed because it shot people up out of the water into the sky like some kind of crazy angry Skyrim giant. (I’m not kidding.)
No, I’m not kidding. I agree with morrolan that SoS’s characterisation isn’t great. I cringed through the first act, with our hero and his perfect sister and evil mother and their predictable story. I’m also concerned by how obvious Isaye is, but I haven’t finished it yet as I said so I’ll reserve finale judgement.
The description of Orr rising was really spectacular though. Good stuff.
Thanks ken, that makes a lot of sense. I’d heard the randomness was going to be narrowed which made me think we were going to get stuck into the same system again somehow, but if we’re still meant to fight different servers I’m glad that will continue.
I’ll continue to be frustrated by how our rating goes up and down and leaves us in the same place, but as long as the randomness continues at least it won’t trap us anywhere.
I’m partway through it and excited to read it. Glad to hear it’s been enjoyed! I loved the other two books and I’ve found the writing to be much weaker in this one so far, but I’m reading it for the lore mostly so that’s ok.
I’d like to see more official presence here on the forums. Not the devs, who have a lot to do anyway, but specific forum officers around to get involved and keep things civil. Many threads go awry into off-topic personal attacks or “I don’t care about this so you’re an idiot for bringing it up”. I think more official presence would help with this, as it does on other internet forums.
I don’t want a full-on police or censor, but it would be nice to have an official reaction aside from the current options which are either shut the thread down or pretend it doesn’t exist.
I’ve enjoyed the new matchup system because it has given my server new enemies to fight. Sometimes we’re terrifically outnumbered, sometimes the opposite, but I can find fun in either situation. It’s better than always facing the same servers.
However, I’d really appreciate someone explaining to me how it’s meant to fix the system, because I see some wild numbers depending on who we fight. When we fight a tougher opponent our score goes way up because we manage to keep fighting anyway. Then we’re placed with weaker servers and our score tumbles again because we can’t destroy them as much as we apparently should.
So I don’t see much change overall, and I fear when the ranks “even out” we’ll be in the same situation we were before, always fighting the same two servers and that match up is not good week after week. But I might be missing something about the new system that will make it clear. Am I missing something?
There are some good twitch channels that stream pvp, and they just added a spectator mode so you can see people trying it out too. I’ve found that actually seeing people play my class/profession well has been the most helpful for me in learning how to pvp.
OP, I agree. It was a relief when game developers stopped crippling female characters by making them automatically weaker (yet usually with higher charisma, whee.) There should be equal height options, too.
“I have no clue whakittens trying to say though I can guess that I disagree with the statements in it”
I love this reply so much… It’s like the whole forum in one sentence.
I think he’s suggesting somehow banning farmers from wvw though I’m not sure if he said how to do it.
I stand by my hypothesis that everyone with nothing to complain about is currently playing the game, not in the forums. But then I’m here… and I’m happy… ack what’s going on?!
I can’t say I have a favourite rant be because they generally depress me, but the threads about the new JP do crack me up. I was particularly amused when the first four threads in the sub forum were something like “New jp too easy” “New jp too hard” “New jp too long” “New jp too little too late” one right after each other.
Just had the greatest death. Coming towards Godsword with my friend to take back some camps, I see a medium sized group of WR on their way out. I stopped, because 2 against 10 is silly, but my friend said, “let’s go!” I thought uhhh, that’s optimistic, but why not… ran in flamethrower blazing, even though the group had turned toward us and not even attacked, maybe realising it’d be a massacre.
A moment later my friend: “oh I’m lagging really badly. oh wait, there are too many.”
So to the no doubt confused group of WR… yeah. That’s what that was.
A month seems good to me because I don’t do all new content at once and I’d like some leeway. But if it’s permanent content, it can come out as quickly as it wants and I’ll get to it when I get to it.
There is no argument.
The thread was deleted just as every post or thread of a server accusing another of hacking/botting/exploiting is, whether it’s true or not. It’s called character/server assassination and it is against the CoC.
You do know you’re invul for quite some time after loading, right? The flamethrowers did nothing, they were all for a screen shot.
Ahh, you may be right about why the thread was deleted.
As far as the invul—I’ve never had a invulnerability buff when entering that jp. I just tried it now, to see if something had changed, and no. No invulnerability.
Notice how for a few secs, the warrior is invul each time he comes out.
Hm. I wonder, then… if it just takes so long for it to load for me, the buff is gone before I see anything or move anywhere.
Is there any way to set it so an account is unable to post to these forums?
Oh grow up.
This is all I can say.
Who? And why?
I’m not bringing it up to guffaw about sexual suggestiveness in the book, like I’m twelve years old and find sex so hilarious. I’m bringing it up because I found it disturbing and interesting and thought it was worth discussing.
I don’t know what you are readying into this OP.
One ship is being rammed by another one that doesn’t have the fire power to do anything else. It’s not like the ship has a mind of his own.
I’m sorry it’s not clear. It seems pretty clear to me, since the author chose to give it to us straight up: unwanted suitor, male and female, etc.
It speaks of one shipped being rammed by another. There is now a hole in it’s hull, and needs to be patched. Not sure what is so disturbing. If you want to anthropomorphize it, the lady now has a knife or something stuck in her ribs (where her corset would be), needs to remove it, and staunch the blood flow. Is this what is disturbing?
It’s disturbing because it was only about a stabbing it wouldn’t have to be a corset, which is a kind of underwear. So it’s more intimate than a “regular” stabbing, and again because he’s her “suitor.” The other ship also doesn’t have to be male, and actually shouldn’t because ships are female, when they’re anything. So it’s purposefully made it into an intimate underwear-involved stabbing from male to female… I hope I don’t need to be more clear than that. Anyway I didn’t anthromorphize it, the author did.
Edited to say: It’s possible they chose to use “corset” because they have ribs and ships have ribs… kind of.
(edited by Sitkaz.5463)
“Her side was caved, her sleek curve wrenched apart, and water was pouring into her berth. She’d survive, but only if she could dislodge her unwanted suitor and plug the rent he’d made in her corseted hull.”
I’m reading and more or less enjoying the new GW2 novel “Sea of Sorrows.” But I just got to this passage, which refers to a boat collision, and I was totally taken aback. I know ships are referred to as female, but the other ship isn’t in this case, so I have to wonder… what was the author/editor thinking with this? I find it pretty disturbing.
Thieves hit hard and fast and they have excellent manouverability. With my engineer I stay put because there’s no point outrunning or chasing. Drop a supply kit if possible and keep up pressure with flamethrower. Basically I try to be too tough and too powerful to take down, and when initiative is gone they sometimes give up. Sometimes. I just had a thief back off and salute me in the os jp because he couldn’t take me down. I didn’t kill him either but it felt like a bit of a win.
There is no argument.

It’s interesting how you can get the flavour of a server from just a few people posting in the matchup thread.
It’s interesting how people label a whole server based on a few people.
Agreed.
