They should shrink down to 1 borderland and EB at this point.
So… you want folks on ALL servers to have a 2 hour queue EB + BL 24 hours a day?
I think he meant this specific match-up.
Why did a whole guild come to BT for a few days? Just to see what it was like on a low tier server? Not complaining, just wondering.
I heard they were recruiting people
Oh. :p That sucks for us I guess.
I said I would do it. All for you, baby.
I saw that post! I saw it all the way up until it was removed from the forum because it displayed an exploit.
There’s a big difference between using a pvp jp as intended, and camping a spawn point that’s supposed to be safe. Well demonstrated.
Witchcraft and trickery!
Thanks!
I might be happy with an Exotic or Rare aquabreather that I can stick a superior rune into. Can’t get the T6 rune bonus underwater because the breather replaces my helmet.
Oh. Can we get a new WvW map please?
Not that you probably actually care about this, but you can get a lvl 80 masterwork aquabreather from orr for like 4k Karma that can be slotted with a rune or orb.
Err I am—Which vendor please?
Making it an event that pops up seems like a great idea to me, especially since most people come into wvw for the first time a bit lost with no clear idea what to do.
Hmm, this looks really useful to me. But then I’m from a low pop server and if we aren’t quick the enemy zergs catch up to us before we get through a gate or wall and game over.

The cake is NOT a lie!
The reward is irrelevant in my point. It was the action or means to get to the objective, whether it be gear or the end of a jumping puzzle, which I was stressing. I made it a point to state that everything was for personal use so the argument about the shoulderpads being sold for 3 silver doesn’t apply. Please correct me if you feel it should.
I guess I’d correct you here because it seems like “the objective” you state is subjective for each player. Some players lke jps and accomplishing them. Others like the gear rewards, achievement awards. Still others like giving it a try with friends, and when they can’t finish, they enjoy getting help to the end. The “it’s only 3s” bit matters to people because they’re saying “the money is the only part that really affects the balance of the game.” But you believe it’s cheating to get to the end with a portal, and that cheating is wrong, and that wrongness should override the other points. Fair enough.
Personally though I’m glad we’re still given other ways to participate in jps even if we suck at them (I do) and I hope the lack of official smack down about it from Anet means they think so too.
This has already been implemented
It has? How do you get to the jp without going through eb?
It’s an own map with it’s own queue. But it is the intention of ANet that you have to own your EB-fortress to get into the JP. Therefore you still have to enter EB first. And only if you reached EB and at least one fortress is in your worlds possesion you can enter the JP.
That’s what I thought. dunnberry seemed to suggest otherwise.

This sounds like a great sci fi story Not sure if it’d work in game, but I like it.
It brings to attention the truth behind the mists: we are in fact fighting other real people for no reason that we know of, an ongoing war against unknown adversaries who live in a world that’s actually nearly identically our own, if only we knew it…
head explodes
My first character was a sylvari and I listened to this for days while levelling having no idea what it meant.
I know its been a while but another conversation made me return to this thought. I was in TS with some people and there was a bit of an argument about how to do a dungeon at one point one guy (who plays a charr) said to woman (who played a sylvari)
“Why don’t you shut your knot hole you no good salad head”
To which we all laughed, thinking this was an attempt to break tension and move on. The woman playing the sylvari then started again explaining her idea for what should be done. and was quickly interrupted by the charr player again who quite gruffly and obviously not joking this time said
“I said shut your G**D**** mouth you F****ing salad bowl. Why don’t you go roll a real toon instead of some hippy F**s lunch.”
At this point all of us were quite shocked and taken back. When we tried to call him out he claimed that he was just RPing and we should chill out since it was just a game…. and at that we all left his TS and went on to other things.
It may be “just a game”. It may have been “in character” but I tell you what else it was it was hurtful. Mean and no less disturbing than real world racism
That’s not RPing, that’s insanity. It can’t be RPing unless charr somehow know they and sylvari are toons that have been rolled. :p What a jerk.
I haven’t got through it all yet because I’m rubbish at jps, but I enjoyed what I did because it didn’t seem as dire as previous ones I’ve tried, and I like the funky steam punk atmosphere.
I hope some of my fellow FSP enjoy jumping on my dead body
Belfagor dear friend, I always reports this behavior. I think it is arrogance and racism. And lack of respect for the player with the “other side”. Yesterday I had the pleasure to report the player of Blacktide for such behavior
I’m not sure if reporting someone for this is called for, but it definitely sours my opinion of a player and their guild. Very unsportsmanlike. The most I’ve done is salute because it was tough, or run in a circle to show that it was a memorable fight and I’m relieved. I’ve been jumped up and down on a few times in this match-up, which sucks.
I wish I could salute someone while dead. Sometimes I really want to say, Wow—You owned me, good fight.
Every time I cap a tower the entire tower disappears for a second. I consider it an act of God.
This happened to me for the first time this week, and the first time I saw it happen (to others) was this week too. I was so surprised when it happened I didn’t actually use it to my advantage, but still. I think it is becoming more common and it makes me nervous. In wvw people’s first instinct isn’t “oh a glitch, quick report it” but “everyone get to the lord room!”
Oh I’m not asking, I’m suggesting!
Bwaha, this made me laugh out loud. You’re adorable.
I’m on Blacktide, a “high population” server, and 25/27 in wvw. Believe me, just getting people onto the server isn’t always the problem. I wish it was.
Free transfers to lower tier severs though… hmm. Interesting. Maybe.
I’m surprised by this. I was one of the players seriously considering leaving a month ago because the language issue was so bad, but I found recently commanders have become much better about being inclusive. I suppose it depends a lot on when we’re online for which commander appears and how they act.
I have seen commanders recently fighting with each other about either language or experience. I thought maybe it’s because our wvw is finally becoming more active again so there’s some kind of power struggle going in between leaders.
I’d like to hear from commanders about this but my suggestion to you Blankverse is follow the commanders you respect and ignore the rest. Or if you do change servers, I’m sorry to see you (or anyone) go because I think we’re turning things around a bit.
Thank you for the answer. We’ll guest more happily now.
whats to shame in loosing 9999999999999 vs 10? lol
Nonsense, khalar and me had like 30 people combined in all wvw maps and there were about 10 BT and 10 WRS active, yes we outnumbered you but not that dearly.
You took all maps with just 30 people total, and you also know for certain how many BT and WR there were active. Uh huh. Ok. This kind of post? Not that useful, really. C’mon.
Love to the FSP player who invited me to a group just to see if it’d work, then was so amused when it did. Alas your zerg did take me about ten seconds after I left. So it goes.
I’d apologize to [lion] for the golem incident, but honestly I enjoyed setting it on fire. Mmm marshmallows!
A newer player asked in guild chat the other day about dragon bash pinatas, and someone advised her to guest to another server so she could hit enough more quickly. She was afraid to do this in case it was considered an exploit.
It got me curious. Would this be an exploit? I wouldn’t think so but I see why she was worried, given some of the threads in this part of the forum. Anyone have a definite answer?
In a similar vein, would relogging to relight effigies more quickly be considered an exploit?
24th or 25th, who cares as long as we get to travel the maps ,meet interesting people and kill them
lol, well fair enough. I won’t argue with that. Hooyah!
I could see the video just fine. Nice moustache!
You had to add runes etc to get this result though so I don’t think up scaling is that dire.
Just a suggestion but if we are going to make it fun this week, then why not just ignore the points, cause the system is messed up anyway, and have more arrangements/ communication with Blacktide and WSR. Invite them on a TS, have fun. I think after dealing with the Germans and their bad attitudes for weeks it might be good for morale to just have a laugh with other players
I can’t entirely ignore points because we were up against WR last week too, and very nearly passed them in rank. We have to keep trying for that. At least I do. It’s a goal. We wanna be 24!
“Leave a scout behind, and react faster when a tower is besieged”
If only there were always enough people to do this!
Another tough week for BT (and WR) but I refuse to give up. Eventually we won’t be matched up with such crazy servers, but in the meantime it’s a lesson in how to fight with fewer people, how to get around mob mentality, etc. A few minutes ago I had an awesome fight with a thief who tried to stop me snagging the skill point behind a camp. As long as FSP doesn’t choose to take total advantage of their superior numbers and still wants to fight, it could be a good week. Well, an aggravating entertaining kinda week.
I might get flamed for saying this, but the dungeon deserter debuff in wow is really kind of good. It isn’t so bad that you don’t mind taking it if you do have to leave, but it discourages people from leaving just to mess with you. On the other hand, gw2 seems designed to lead with carrots rather than sticks, so it might be against the game ethos to punish people anyway, and fair enough.
I guess there’s no point discussing it since you’ve already stated anyone who doesn’t agree is looking to exploit the game…
Huh… Actually I kinda like this idea. Cool.
I think you mean “Thanks for the loot bags”… owch!
Of course it’s annoying. So’s being ganked by a thief, or steamrolled by a lucky warrior, or whatever. I really don’t see how it’s OP or must be changed.
In my opinion, it’s slightly unfair as an elementalist can stay near the door to a tower or keep, hurling their attacks and if they’re downed, can go through the door, get picked up and go back out to attack again – creating a circle of immortality.
Do you not think it unfair that the other classes cannot escape death like that? I don’t mind the ability itself, but having it used so that you cannot simply chase after the opponent and finish them off when they de-mist is rather frustrating when it happens multiple times.
No, I honestly don’t think it’s unfair. A thief can appear, nearly kill me, disappear, then come back to finish the job and I have to laugh it off. Being able to zip into a keep doesn’t even cause someone repair fees. It’s just a thing. And it isn’t a circle of immortality unless the keep attack lasts forever. In an attack I’d say I might use it once or twice, given opportunity.
@Sitkaz: I read many reports in this forum that gates are bugged again and there is a bunch of skills that – if you use them on gate – will put you inside. some of this was fixed some patches ago, but it seems its a more widespread problem again in this patch, maybe it fell out again. if you want to see this in effect – make a fiery greatsword and use #3 skill on gate :P should take you right inside.
Good to know, thank you!
Kinda makes searching so hard for mesmers etc a little redundant, hey.
While defending a keep, you’re basically a deterrent. You can either use siege or try to use your own abilities, but either way it’s usually you and a few defenders against a zerg. At least it is on my server.
So when I get pulled into the zerg with my mesmer, I create a few illusions and try to confuse people while I get away. With my engineer I just die (though I can usually take a few with me before I do.) And with my elemental I have one opportunity to mist form back into the keep. Sometimes I get caught and killed in one shot anyway.
Of course it’s annoying. So’s being ganked by a thief, or steamrolled by a lucky warrior, or whatever. I really don’t see how it’s OP or must be changed.
Whoa! Okay, I’m really curious about something. Just now the GH zerg took over BT’s keep (the dozen or so defenders we had fought really hard, thanks for that, it was a good fight) and as GH got into the inner courtyard something strange happened. A few players and two golems appeared on the inside of the gate before the gate was down.
At first I thought it was a visual glitch, because they kept attacking the gate even though I could see they were inside. But then the golems turned and walked right into the keep and started destroying the siege we had inside. So even though the gate wasn’t down, the golems were in.
I’m not suggesting this was a hack or anything, but I’m really, really curious how it happened. If anyone else was in that fight (it was ten minutes ago maybe) let me know?
WSR <3
WSR & BT would you guys be interested in an end of week party again like we have had before?
I’ve never been to a wvw end of week party but I’m intrigued! How does it work?
Lots of fun fights so far this week, though I must admit being so outmanned so often can be frustrating. It makes it harder for small groups, and our zerg is a baby compared to your… five… zergs… Now I know how Vabbi feel every week!
Sogradde—You’re welcome! Now where are mine? Please??
I see lots of people swearing in chat. It doesn’t bother me so my filter is off, and from what I can see they don’t often get reported because they keep at it. But when someone tells me “you kittening kitten, go kitten yourself” etc, I’d report them, and I’m sure others would too. There’s a pretty big difference, isn’t there?
If you want to distinguish yourself from all the other “zergs suck” posts you will have to say more, yes.
This sounds fun. Can you already dye the “hair” they have on top of their fur or no?
I think that would be ok. I like my wings a lot but they’re pretty distracting at first. Maybe they could flap more slowly when I’m not fighting or something.
It seems from your comments you’re trying to say actual things, but since you start off as if you’re already addressing “fanbois” and judging the game shallow within your definition of their view of the game, it’s hard to tell what you intend. It’s like you want to make a serious feedback video but your sense of humour gets in the way.
It’s true, it wasn’t particularly revolutionary within the film noir genre. I guess it was just fun within the GW2 genre, and unusual to find in a fantasy rpg.
It kind of reminded me of the Buffy musical episode, not because of music etc but because I thought, ‘What the heck!? Huh… It works!’
Last Friday someone cut that cord bringing internet/phone into my house. I found out it wouldn’t be fixed all week (finally was yesterday actually.) There was already a lot of stuff here at the forums about how buggy the event was, too. I considered, and decided I really wanted that dragon helm. After a lot of wrangling Saturday morning I was able to pay six pounds and hook into the worst wifi network I’ve ever experienced, that disconnected me every ten minutes and was constant lag, and actually managed to dc me partway through the firework show I finally coincided with. But I saw the finale, and boom. Now that’s an achievement!
I’m not sure how I’d feel if they just gave it away now. On the one hand, I really wanted the helm even though it’s just aesthetics so I understand others really want it too, and them having it doesn’t take away my enjoyment. I’d be happy for them. On the other hand, by Saturday UK time there was enough information available about what the potential bugs were, where to stand, how long to stay for etc, and I’d probably feel annoyed about the money and effort I spent.
the choice is easy when choosing between mages in GW2:
Easy Mode: Mesmer
Nightmare Mode: Elementalist
What does that make Necros?
