I’ve felt an icy chute/slide could make for an interesting jumping puzzle.
They do a bit of this in the pirate puzzle in LA. Could definitely do more.
They made levelling in this game super quick so you could level doing the same things you do at top level, eg wvw or quests or spvp or groups events or whatever. It’s not designed around gear grind. It’s just a different type of game to wow etc. Sorry you don’t like it.
This could be interesting… especially combined with rocket boots. Whee!
When I want a break I’ve found standing upstairs in the pavilion watching people fight and waiting for the next champion group event below is pretty chill. There’s also usually a good party going on in Lion’s Arch, if you fancy it. Box o’ fun, etc.
Tell me my engineer is useless while I’m raining grenades on your group from a keep wall. Or onto a keep wall from a mile away. Boom boom boom. Ha.
Follow me around a bit. I take my thief into wvw and die all the time.
I really enjoy watching the fights while watching the arena below, too. It’s a cool area. I appreciate the OP’s frustration though. Not sure how to solve it and keep both.
I was suspicious of Anise too. I didn’t expect her to be so cruel as to add Rytlock to the mix. But there’s also the fact she didn’t have to admit it… she could have stayed silent. Hmm.
Faren’s an odd one. It’d be great if he turned out to be much smarter than he seems. GW’s Scarlet Pimpernel!
What new skills do you have to learn for the living content? Queens gauntlet bosses or something?
The giant Kiel is in line with the giant dragon holo from dragon bakittenhought it was a pretty funny freaky thing to do—very like a politician!
GW2 toes the line adding tech to their fantasy. I don’t think they’ve crossed it yet, they seem pretty good at keeping it reasonable and I don’t see steam punk everywhere or anything. I think it sets it apart, which is nice. Fair enough if you don’t like it.
Also, the GW you knew and loved is still online if you’d rather play it.
Edited to say: That censored mess up there is ‘dragon bash.’
I admit I love it when Canadian voice actors are cast anywhere. Makes me feel back at home!
A note just to say I left it for the night and when I came online today there was a new update and the lag was fixed. Hooray!
They are pretty awesome. Taken them into the OS jp yet? Yeehaa!
I didn’t see a suggestion in the original post, but you asked what the point of this change was. The point was to remove the many tokens etc cluttering up banks and characters, something the community has asked for many times. They added gold to the mix so it was all currencies (since the tokens are a type of currency.)
I understand your frustration and no doubt there are people who agree that this is not good for those who have other reasons for keeping gold separate. For example some complained it would let them accidentally spend money they wanted to save if they clicked too quickly. But overall on these forums the response has been positive, so I don’t think it’s a case of the devs ignoring their community.
I don’t think you did yourself any favours by saying “children without children” btw. Enjoy your new account.
Did you buy it from the trading post? Find a black lion tp rep to pick it up.
Did you buy it from the gem store and the mail hasn’t arrived? Try deleting old mail in case your mailbox is full.
Please stop saying Anet have just screwed up another thing etc, and let’s try to give constructive feedback so they can fix or rollback the update quickly. This is the best way to get a result.
Owch.
BT have been doing all right this week but the new living content kinda threw a monkey wrench into things.
limps toward a sentry
When Anise did this it really made me question her motives, especially given the charr/human peace atm. I wondered when she made him fight a charr at all, let alone Rytlock. Whaaat is she up to…?
That’d be great. I always check out the achievements first to see if there’s a new title I can get and I was sad to see none for this one.
I want to say how impressed I am with the staging area with all the different types of baddies and settings. It looks amazing and only an hour later I realized you can walk up to the top for the solo fights, to participate or watch. Really great area and just fun to look at. Nicely done!
It also makes me wonder: are all these mobs robots too? I mean they don’t really keep pirates and centaurs living in there… right?
This is a good feature! Thank you.
What!? This is absurd! I assumed it stopped while no one was able to play. Seriously this is ridiculous.
That’s kind of a relief. It makes me really want to know what that second update was though. It was absolutely fine before, and totally broken after.
Since the last new build (the smaller one after the big update) I haven’t been able to be in the new living world area without lagging so badly I can’t even use my skills. I also disconnect now and then. I know it’s very busy because I’m always on the overflow server, but before the second patch I was having a great time in the big champion battles.
Anyone else?
“I am a married woman, and flirting is greatly frowned on. I will not reply to those who flirt.”
Translation: I just want to get this point out in the open and out of the way in case anyone thinks I’m only saying I’m a girl to find romance.
That’s seriously all she said and I think all she meant. There’s no attention seeking here. It doesn’t assume that flirting is a must, it just says she isn’t interested, in case you wonder. Most of her post was about the all-girl guild she wants to form, which was the point of her post. That’s it.
I’d love more books! It’s great to get more of the lore than I can find in game.
I loved the first two books, especially Ghost of Ascalon. I haven’t enjoyed Sea of Sorrows but I’ll eventually finish it for the lore. Your idea of the fall of Orr would be really interesting. I’d also like to see more from inside Charr culture, or maybe something about the Asurans before they came to the surface. Ooh yes.
As far as I understand it no, they’re permanently staying on the BLTP with the Kryta and new Magitech armor, etc.
Phew, you saved me so much time today OP. Thank you.
It’s offensive to say people are voting for Kiel purely because she’s a “nice pretty human lady.”
Too bad for you if people are voting for reasons other than your pet consideration, but welcome to democracy.
And it’s naive to say that there aren’t people who are voting Kiel purely because she’s a “nice pretty human lady.” Have you seen map chat? Or perhaps some of the posts in this very forum?
I’d rather be naive than offensive any day.
Edited to say: Tbh, most of the comments I’ve seen remarking on Kiel’s attractiveness have been from people complaining that’s why she’ll win rather than people saying that’s why they’ll vote. Clearly it’s on people’s minds, but I’m not sure it’s the main driving force people worry it is. As a woman I’d very much like to remove “attractiveness” from having any effect on any election, virtual or otherwise.

This is a pretty cool idea for a rested-type bonus in a game with varied xp, as this is. However since leveling in GW2 really is very quick anyway, I’m not really sure any bonus is needed. If leveling was slower I’d agree with you, OP.

Good question. I guess I missed the end of this too, and I really wanted those quaggans.
The main thing I don’t understand about underwater combat is the downed mechanic. Swim to the surface? Um, why? And chasing people around who are downed and yet still swimming is as frustrating as trying to survive yourself.
It’s a neat idea and I love the graphics underwater but since I don’t practice much it ends up being an irritating mini game I can’t quite get the hang of.
Hey. Plenty of “normal people” work on the weekends or other odd hours. I must say this. Thhhbt to the people who think 9-5 M-F is normal. Thhhbt I say.
That said, I agree with the idea that timed events aren’t great, and I think MMOs use them because they do keep people coming back regularly, and an MMO without regular users is a dead MMO. I like the way GW2 does their dailies because I don’t even have to pay attention. The ones I’ve worked on by accident appear in the top right, and if I want to finish them I make sure to gather or revive enough. The reward and the punishment for doing or not doing them isn’t huge enough to force me.
I’d never log on purely to do a daily. I used to in WoW and it’s part of why I started to hate the game. Distancing myself from that type of system is a good thing for me, and likely many others.
Punish? No. I kill people who are trying to kill me. Sometimes I even attack first! Punish has nothing to do with it. :P
Happily there’s a lot of variation in builds and skill level in wvw so whether they wield a scepter or shift to lich form doesn’t make enough of a difference to stand out to me.
Ok, a few people might not have heard of Vabbi but the Fissure of Woe player?
Good on you OP for rallying the community a bit. I hope they find your post. I’m not on Vabbi but on BT I’ve fought you quite a bit so I know there are some great players there.
There’s a mesmer focus skill that can pull people without line of sight. It doesn’t always work though.
Since you’re coming from other mmos, my advice is: remember levelling in GW2 is very much like being max level, so don’t worry about power levelling or grinding anything. Just do whatever you find fun!
Ahh, I forgot about the elixir sound… I love that too.
And the remarks a necro makes when a minion dies. “Good thing I didn’t name that one…”
Yes, I died walking down some stairs in the northern EB keep. Totally bizarre. I didn’t look at my combat log though.
Sometimes the game likes to spam fall damage on you when you go down inclines, I’ve died walking down stairs many times from this.
it’s also been known to do it on level surfaces as well. when i was first leveling my character up right after launch, there were a ton of us in mount maelstrom. we were in the tunnels under the volcano, then suddenly, we all died. it was some sort of terrain bug, because there was an invisible line going from one wall of the tunnel across to the other that counted as massive falling damage to anyone who happened to walk over it. you could jump over it fine, but if you walked, you were dead. the first time i found it, i was alone, and an elemental easily finished me off. the second time, there was a good 20-30, and the last 3 people in the very back who managed to see us all go down managed to stop in time, then began raising us. interestingly enough, we died several more times trying to shift around and rez everyone.
i think it was some sort of seam in the terrain, because a guildmate noticed a few more in other areas. it’s highly unlikely that one would still exist in SM, but anything’s possible.
That sounds both hilarious and tragic. Like the citizens of Tyria occasionally come down with fatal klutziness, and it’s contagious.
There are good and bad things about GW2, but one thing that’s consistently impressed me is the attention to detail with character animations. I first realized it with my charr ranger: every time she flicks her bow, her tail flicks too. Twang, twang, twang. I adore this.
My asura’s ears stand straight up when I’m ready for battle with my staff.
My human engineer flips her pistol around when she’s waiting for me to tell her who to shoot.
These things give my characters so much… well character, and I love it. Especially that tail flick. Twang.
Skritt backpacks would be great, especially if their spindly arms and legs waggled when I run.
I’d like that function back, too.
I didn’t know this either! Ahh good.
Now I’d like them to show when each post was updated on the main page too.
(hopes someone will tell her it already does, just click such and such…)
Probably not trolling… This is actually an easy mistake. Since you buy the books as you level it’s easy to assume there’s no other way to retrait. At least he knows now.
I think individual server maps could cause trouble. Inevitably some would be easier/harder or favoured otherwise. Having them all the same negates that.
I’d support seeing a new brighter level 80 area. I don’t wander Orr much because its such an unhappy grim place.
Nice! I’m using most of the set, with pirate boots and Noble eye patch (I like it a bit better than the Magitech one.) I’ve also used winter sky for the glowing bits, and iron for the metal.
Omg Obscure, are you dating the dev team? No wonder you’re unhappy. I don’t even think they know. Send them flowers?
No, I won’t quit. I like this game.
