What we have currently is ridiculously boring.
I’m talking strictly PvE here – there is absolutely NO reason to wear any other gear or spec towards anything other than DPS roll.
Tell me one instance where I need PVT/Clerics gear or anything else really?
Every single pve content including high lvl fracs can be beat with a pure DPS spec group/zerkers.
Instead of getting rid of tank/healer/dps/control, its now purely dps dps dps dps.
That is all you need to beat PvE in this game. That is the definition of boring.
There is a reason why majority of the big time successful MMOs have the trinity. It defines roles, it allows indivuals to actual pick a role and learn it, master it, excel at it.
What do you do here? just slap on zerker gear and L2 dodge and learn some easily telegraphed attacks and profit.
The PvE in this game is made simple and easy because of the direct lack of trinity. There is no reason to spec towards anything in pve. No reason to focus on building towards a “support” or “control” spec
Now by no means am I saying GW2 should add trinity to the game, but they need to re-tool and change up the simplistic PvE. Nerfing zerker is not going to change a darn thing. It will STILL remain the best option in terms of DPS because in this game, everything can still be beat in zerker gear and quite efficiently

warrior has been an issue for 6 months and you’ve done nothing,
lets not rave about a dev finally noticing it…bringing up warriors in a thread about “how does anet handle feedback” was probably a bad idea, because over the past 6 months there have been HUNDREDS of threads regarding warriors and over the past 6 months you have not done anything to balance them.
Took over half a year to get an 8% nerf to healing signet. lol.
honestly, I would like to know how anet rates themselves in terms of handling feedback?
We already know how majority of the community thinks so I think it would be interesting to see what anet thinks of themselves..
So what’s more likely, future MMOs abandoning trinity and going with the “jack of all trades, do everything in one class” like anet or stick with the trinity but make some tweaks?
My guess is stick with the trinity. It brings teamwork/skill. Everyone in GW2 is selfishly playing. Never am I depending on my teammates for a heal. i have my own reflects/blocks/dodges/ to protect myself I need no tank. I have my own supply of blinds and knockdowns and stuns I need no controller. I do just fine pew pewing down mobs, I need no DPSer
And that pathethic excuseof “ooo but I don’t like waiting 30 mins for LFG HEALERRR” , well guess what, that’s what happens when you PUG.
MMO’s are played because of the community, with friends. TheGuilds/clans I personally played in always had a diverse groups of healers/tanks/dps/controllers so there was rarely an issue of LFG HEALER/TANK. and you can actually feel good about becoming a good tank/healer or w/e role you want to master. People would recognize someone, like “holy kitten, zanzibar is an amazing priest, our group never dies when hes our healer”

Some people prefer this no trinity of a game, and thats absolutely fine. Keep playing it, but A lot of people have gotten a taste of what an MMO feels like with no trinity and while some may have been converted for good, I still feel like plenty of other players still want to play a trinity game which what wildstar, EQN, ESO will give them (allegedly)

1.5 years of zerker meta. I don’t think a single soul in this forum or game asked for a 10% nerf to crit damage? Why? because it would literally changed nothing at all, period.
Everything remains the same PvE wise, you can complete everything in zerker just fine but its still faster than any other stat combo…(WvW/sPvP is a different animal, everyone has their reasons for different builds but a lot of power builds just got killed and now anet is pushing a condition meta which NO ONE was pushing for…)
You say you don’t ignore issues, which is probably true, but it is obvious to me where the priorities are…

Anet has proven since release that it cannot balance classes properly.
New race I wouldn’t mind, but 100% no on new class.
There is already 1 fully broke class that has been broke since release and has no foreseeable future. They dropped the ball completely on ranger and I don’t want a new class to go through the same fate.

1. I never really understood this idea of an endgame. You’re basically saying that 90% of the game should just be forgotten about after a certain point of progression when there’s a defined ‘endgame’.
The endgame for me in GW1 is just doing whatever I want, like how I played Skyrim.
2. Not requiring co-ordination really doesn’t mean it’s faceroll. Vindictus required next to zero co-ordination but it’s one of the most challenging games I’ve played, in a fair way (ie no IWTBTG stuff). And there are plenty of co ordination in the game anyways if you want to do it, and sometimes it’s even nessecary.
3. I want to point out your last sentence. ‘who cares?’. Not trying to be rude but if you don’t care, you clearly won’t find any. Also, so what if it’s a MMO? Why dues that mean it can’t have an exploration element to it? Especially it’s a living world to explore as opposed to a console game’s ‘dead’ world.
These guys are going to complain about anything. It’s what drives them. Makes them feel useful. Yea, most of the time they are absolutely wrong, but at least it’s actually a VAST minority of the players who play the game. One week they are complaining that something is too hard, the next week everything is too easy. They complain about only having two weeks to do stuff when 90% of the living story content was available for 4 week periods or more. They say the game lacks diversity in combat, but yet they don’t want their zerker builds touched because that’s all they play across the board. They implore that they need a fat, juicy carrot on a stick in front of them at all times, but yet they can’t ever see said carrot when it’s there.
You will find very little sense in this forum.

About exploration – give me a reason to explore? I have already done 100% map completion, there is absolutely no incentive for me to go back and revisit these places. Thats why I said “who cares” GW2 has great maps, great visual, but its an abandoned wasteland for the most part unless you see alts leveling. People only every go to different places for the daily reset of meta world bosses. No one does any DEs like they used to back when orr was fun. Exploration is nonexistent imo.
I personally don’t see how you guys believe LS is content…. its small new peice of a story that after 1-2 days, you pretty much done with. You get the achievements, get the shiny new item or w/e and its pretty much over. If they had more with events like twisted, I would enjoy it. a lot of people just don’t see these activities like running around in a baazar doing races as meaningful content. Its just there to kill some time or have some fun for an hour or 2…. its not endgame

PvE is still a laughable face roll. You only need one set of gear with the same zerk stats just like at release and you can complete everything you want to in PvE
sPvP has no new game modes so that has changed very little since release. Still unbalanced and they just removed/scrapped the entire glory system meaning anet dropped the ball completely on sPvP.
WvW – who ever has the biggest blob wins. The only “endgame” if you can call it that….
So yea, until I see some serious changes its heading no where (some new traits that majority of the players won’t use is for sure not enough, zerker meta is unchanged, its still all you need to do PvE, brainless champ trains for endgame farming lol)

Pretty much. You forgot to mention the cash shop though, where you can buy skins that should’ve been obtainable in game, and cosplay in the LA chat room with your friends.
WoW is a hard-core grindy game with forceable endgame, no combat, no exploration and mounts etc. to purchase even-though it is pay to play.

2. combat is respective to the user. Opinions vary. However, combat in GW2 is absolutely face roll and requires little to no coordination (outside of sPvP). Everything in the game can be done with just 1 set of gear (zerker) that has not changed. There is little to no gear diversity in any mode of PvE
3.There is no exploration in GW2 either. You get your map completed (took me 1 week for PvE and a few days for WvW maps) And you will never go to those portions in the map ever again unless they give it meaninful content. Vast majority of the population is in frostgorge/queensdale zerging or vigil keep. I’m not sure what exploration you are talking about here. Also, who cares? If you wanna really explore and be immersed, go play Skyrim. This is an MMO.
4. Mounts – again opinion based. some ppl like it some don’t. Meh personally. has no real impact on a successful MMO or not.
5. WoW will always have more users than GW2. Just a fact. It’s dwindling no doubt, but you are sadly mistaken if you think GW2 is even close to their current population…..Theres quite a few dead servers here in gw2.
The good thing about GW2 is i don’t feel pressured to keep playing…. no sub so its nice to have that luxury to come back whenever I feel like the game will be worth my time
However, you are crazy if you don’t believe the releases of ESO/Wildstar/EQN and even Diablo 3 xpac will not have an impact on GW2 population….
At the moment, I personally don’t feel like theres a reason to keep playing (besides WvW season…or until they announce actual meaningful content additions to the game
Sorry but Thieves are better simply because their mobility can also turn into invisible mobility….
A good thief can engage/disengage AT WILL against anything (1v1s or groups)
Thief wins the mobility because of their stealth AND variety of escapes (shadowsteps, infiltrator arrow, heartseeker spam, etc on short initiative cooldowns)
Warriors are no doubt #2 though…
Just have everything unlocked period in pvp (in terms of trait/skills)….. how on god’s green earth is that hard to comprehend????

Not Truth. If you are only using Warhorn to attack enemies you can’t reach, then you are not using the skill right. If you want to be maximizing your damage, you need to be using that skill on your target whenever it comes off of cooldown.

Look, rangers have their uses in roaming, no arguing that. They are fantastic roamers.

This tourney requires ACTUAL SKILL and TEAMWORK to win…. theres thousands of PvE players that can go out and grind like zombies at champ trains and get a freaking legendary. They are NOT that special period. Their are better skins out there anyways lol.
PvP players should get something way more unique imo than a crappy legendary.
The PvE in this game is absolutely some of the easiest i’ve ever played in an MMO. Its built for extreme casuals and requires very little competence to excel at.
Awarding skill is something this game should have done a long time ago instead of this casual lala land zerg/get carried your way to victory

Take traps, dump em on feet, apply extra damage (often, it doesnt get cleansed right away because their duration is so short so people may not notice, especially the burn). Sure it may not sound exceptionally good to deal roughly 1.5k to 15 people. Then again, in the same timeframe your traps do that, that warrior’s GS or guardian hammer does 2-4k on 3-5 people.Another handy aspect of this is that while your zerg moves through, finishers such as leap, blast and projectile will spread burning (poison trap still has no field to it) on even more enemies. This is an indirect and un-planned effect. But it should not be dismissed. A fire field is a fire field, regardless how it is deployed.
So yes, traps are not “the absolute best” option in a zerg, but considering which tree they are in, you are also free to grab a SB or LB with piercing arrows and apply some bleed stacks and more direct damage ontop of the traps.

For me personally these rewards are unacceptable.
Way too rewarding for doing just over the course of a few days some few minute battles and gettign rewarded with something, that takes other players that are mostly no pvp’ers like an eternity to get….Plus this gives those winners a huge financial advantage over other players, if these rewards should be sellable in the TP.
These rewards will be only acceptable, if anet makes legendaries before of that tourney finally unsellable in the TP by changing legendaries into accountbound items.

I pve more than do spvp (but i do almost have champion hunter, just need few more wins) only after about 2 weeks of pvp…I enjoy both game modes and do pve more simply because theres more to do there but still, I think these rewards should be even better. I say give the winner even more prizes.
PvP deserves to be held to a higher standard.
There is absolutely nothing even CLOSE in terms of testing an indivuals skill as a team player in PvE like there is in tPvP.

All you have to do to get a legendary in PvE is explore + farm champ train for endless hours. You think that requires any sort of prestige or skill? thats purely a test of patience.

After seeing the new traits, the lack of updates, the fact no trait changes are coming, and how lightning reflexes now breaking immobilize is likely the only real improvement coming on 4/15, can anyone still sit here thinking ANet has a single employee who plays this class?

There are waay better DPS/support buffs other classes got than ranger. Nothing is amazingly unique about these changes

we got some versatile utility and condi cleansing (which guardians are WAAY better at so I could just play guard if i wanted to do these things) but still, no buff to damage at all.

Because this is NOT what they told us it would be like. ArenaNet explicitly and repeatedly stated that PVP would always have everything unlocked, as recently as July 2013.

It’s a good addition for PvE, but it shouldn’t be there for sPvP. I mean honestly you could lock every class at one build until you pay 50 gold to unlock the other trait choices and still argue “It’s only horizontal progression”. Grandmaster Traits are usually absolutely build defining(unless you play ranger lol), I don’t want to be locked out of a build choice, because I didn’t pay X-Amount of gold to a vendor ingame.

This nerf has absolutely no effect what so ever on the meta
until mob AI mechanics change or condi caps change, there will be NO DIVERSITY what so ever.
I will NOT change my gear from zerk to something else because of this nerf lol.
ALL other stat combos are still below par (in terms of PvE , wvw/pvp is a whole diff story)

This nerf did absolutely nothing period to add build diversity lol. I’m not sure what makes people think it will have an impact at all in PvE. Zerk will still be better than all other options, that is a fact.

This class is awesome. It is my 4th level 80. Necro, Engi, and Guard are all my others. Ranger has more DPS potential than any other class, save Thief. The utility is all sorts of amazing, and both our crit values (Chance and Damage) are in the same tree! This class is just like any other, in that it is only as good as you make it.

They don’t. DPS and ranger don’t go in the same sentence.
If you are talking about the 1 trick pony of moment of clarity + signets + maul combo. thats about the only burst you have and again, that combo NEVER works on a compotent player. I don’t think anyone has ever lost a duel to a ranger using a LB. you have to be really bad at this game if you get bursted down by a ranger…I kill thieves all the time with Longbow. They pop into stealth thinking they are safe, but, Rapid fire tracks the target even into stealth (actually any skill that started activation before the target went into stealth seems to track as long as you aren’t moving around too much).
eh I guess.. just never seems to kill them for me…a good thief usually has some kind of healing going on while in stealth + they can still dodge any of those rapid fires coming at them but ofc i rarely ever use LB as my weapon in spvp..every other weapon just seems better to me.. if you can survive the theives initial bursts and hunt them down in their stealth, they are very easy to beat but they can be a pain to catch…. especially good thieves who know how to reset fights at will

This class is awesome. It is my 4th level 80. Necro, Engi, and Guard are all my others. Ranger has more DPS potential than any other class, save Thief. The utility is all sorts of amazing, and both our crit values (Chance and Damage) are in the same tree! This class is just like any other, in that it is only as good as you make it.

theives, meh anything will kill them if they are on low health + you rarely see them in zergs lol. besides they have stealth if they get low on health
necros, yea they are never easy to kill with 2 life bars
eles/mesmers have plenty of reflects, but yeah, they will be easier to kill but eles just got a ton of healing
This trait change doesn’t change the fact rangers are pretty much worthless in a group setting for WvW. It only encourages selfish play by spending a lot of trait points into a faster pew pew.
Overall a meh change. have fun killing yourself with QZ + new trait + peircing arrow. Retailation/reflects are are gonna hurt lol
I’m sorry, but I also have an ele and a ranger.
I simply don’t user ranger at all in WvW. Ele is just so much more useful and versatile for a group and its not even debatable. They just got even better with their new 25% healing boost.
Rangers aren’t useful if you are trying to support a group lol.

So either next Tuesday, or not until June.
that’s not right. only changes to wvw rank skills are not going to happen during season, since you cannot respec them. balance patches can come whenever they like, because why not?
because balance patch is going to allegedly “shake” up the meta… you can’t really play around and test out all the newly balanced things while WvW season is going on…
Balance patch is going to change gameplay in terms of gear, dps, etc and anet already stated they aren’t going to do that during WvW season… I could be wrong ofc but meh, until I see something official, I have no reason to believe anet will shake up the meta during a WvW season… its either coming before the season starts or after it has ended
No one knows until someone anet officially makes a response…. all of this talk is pure speculation at this point

Look at all the people feeling morally superior saying “Play for fun!” or “You shouldn’t want a reward!” or “Look at xyz game” (usually mobas).
What they don’t realize is that GW2 is an MMO which from the time the genre was created has come to be almost synonymous with one thing – PROGRESSION. And not progression of skills, but progression of characters. Better skills, cooler weapons or armor, just getting richer, titles etc.
Saying “Play for fun” is not enough because for most people, getting rewards is the fun part! Otherwise you’re just wasting time because you put in all that effort for nothing.
The only reason I PvP is because I liked the rank system allowing me to get higher and higher ranks that were difficult to achieve. Progression. Improvement of characters. That is the motivation for playing.
People need to get off their high horse and realize that they can play for “pure fun” if they want. No one is stopping them. The rest of us need a nice juicy fat carrot to put in the effort.

There hasn’t even been a new game mode SINCE RELEASE, you call playing the same game mode for that long FUN? That shows me one thing – anet doesn’t care about pvp. Right now, Gw1 is head and shoulders better than gw2 in pvp and its not even debatable
Look, I love the combat , no doubt its enjoyable and fluid, but its completely stale and leaves a bad taste in my mouth after a short period of time.
I see no diversity, I see no different game modes, I see no balance. That is not fun, you must have some other definition of fun compared to majority of the other players.
What on earth is wrong with you people. You actually expected a balance patch or something? How many layers of rock have you all been living under?

there is no logicial reason to take away rewards, replace them with absolutely nothing and than expect players to wait for a long period of time.
This is the way I see it.
You are working, getting paid every 2 weeks in the form of a check.
Your employer now says OK we don’t like this kind of check any more, so we are taking it away and going to figure out something later and pay you when its ready….

THERES PLENTY OF OPTIONS , the fact anet gave the players NOTHING at all, is sad.
If there was nothing ready to be implemented, why on EARTH take away the only currency and reward in pvp? On what planet does this look like a logical move? Now there is absolutely no incentative for anyone to do pvp. I’m currently at 94/100 for champion hunter so ofc I’m gonna finish up 100 and call it done for now, but yesterday,

anet specifically said they will not be making major changes while the WvW season 2 tourney is going on…. so this can’t be possible (I mean it is, but than anet must be liars lol)

Now they could very well change it prior to the WvW tourney starting but who knows at this point, its all speculation until we get an official response. I’m just not going to believe a major change will occur during WvW season 2… it would be totally unfair

There is rarely a game developer posting or putting up so called “blogs” like many other forums do. This dev tracker mostly made up of posts by community managers/PR and they relay info from dev to community but only thing we hear is “SOON , we are aware, we are working on it..etc etc”
I can count the number of developer posts on my hand in daggum massive70 page ranger CDI. – That right there shows me they don’t have the answers or just don’t care about informing the community

This has literally been one of the slowest developing games I’ve ever seen.
The rampant focus on gemstore items + LS story is the only true development they worry about. Everything else is lower priority.
Balancing is at an abysmal state, pvp just got wrecked, nothing has seriously changed from the zerk PvE meta or zerging, so I don’t see the excuse of “their too busy to answer” actually holding up…I see very little actual development the 3 cores in this game (PvE,PvP, WvW).

if they could make 20-25 man (split up into groups of 4-5) , instanced versions of these type of bosses, I would be down with it
Twisted fight was so fun, but ruined because of how often it would fail because soo many people were just flat out terrible at dodging and learning simple warden mechanics.
If it was offered in an instanced version where me and guildies could setup nightly runs or something that would be fantastic…only guild missions atm to do something like this… bosses/raids would bring plenty of life into the game

casuals are the ones that buy gemstore stuff for real $… thats the primary source of income, thus these players will be focused more and more

hummmm… Solo PvE, maybe… Not gonna do the 6 mins achiev on any server that has half rangers, though you’re pretty sure to win it if there’s half that’s war…useful in smaller WvW encounters
Though, once again, when partying the question is always “do you have an other character?”
Some people would rather have me bring one of my level 40ish uplevels than my level 80 ranger…

They are mid tier in pve and pvp…. high tier for pve is guard/warrior/mesmer/eles…. all bring way better dps and utility than a lowly ranger and his pet…
pvp is a toss up, it depends on the rest of the team comp but spirit ranger IS THE ONLY useful team comp makeup for ranger. They have no diversity here in team arenas because their party support is atrocious outside of healing spring + spirit buffs
Lol, I love this feature patch bs from the white knights. It will end up being disappointing. Just keep letting yourself be strung along. Keep letting them fool you that the fix for pvp is right around the corner. Don’t you understand yet they do not have enough resources committed to pvp and never will? They can have all the good intentions in the world but it doesn’t matter because they don’t have the resources. They do what management says.
Finally someone that isnt a total kitten, they are just capitalizing on the no subscription fee and take all the time in the world, and even if the pvp community leaves it doesnt make much difference on their wallets, because we dont use the store like the pve/wvw players, so we are “dead weight” basically
If PvP is dead weight and WvW/PVE is doing just fine with the professions as-is, then that means the Balance Team and PvP teams are also dead weight…

Everyone I run into during SoloQ is running the same builds, hambow warriors, spirit rangers, decap engies, dhumfire/MM necros, etc.
PvP and balance teams are non existent lol, not trying to be rude, just being realistic here. Its been 1.5 years and theres been little to no change in PvP until now where they finally scrapped everything basically with the removal of pvp currency

ESO is pretty bad… ive played the last 4 beta weekends… but meh, at least there is something to do and there is some form of progression lol… (still not enough reason for me to spent 60 bucks + 15 every month on it though, but plenty of others will )

It’s too late. Most people are quitting for either D3 or ESO after today’s patch. My 500 person guild just dissolved to move to D3… Anet got tons and tons of second chances, but people are just fed up with it now.
Why are people going to quit? Because they expected that today would be a large feature patch that A-net has said over and over again that it wouldn’t be?
Because the game is stale and no one wants to wait till July for another failed attempt at balance. Anet has squandered their fortunes with this game. Real competition is coming out now. GW2 isn’t the goto game just because ’there’s nothing else to play’.
Competition is always coming out, using this as a reason is just silly. Also if you feel that way just take a break from the game for a little bit, then wait until the patch comes out. You are in no way bound to the game, you do not pay a subscription, you do not sign your time over. Free to do what ever you need to do.
But that’s the thing…. competition HASN’T been coming out. There was a huge open field since GW2’s launch.
The only major release between launch and now was WoW: Pandas. Do you remember what happened when Pandas launched? The game almost died. Population fell by 40%, and sales plummeted. The devs panicked and quickly launched fractals + ascended gear to draw players back. It mostly worked and the population went back up and stabilized.
Now the drought of games is over. D3 is coming out, then ESO, then Wildstar, then WoW. Anet needs to have a proportional response to that or we will have a repeat of Novermber 2013…
Ascended gear got introduced around 1 year after MoP and the population didn’t get affected by much at all, the game was at it’s peak at that time. MoP released 1 month after GW2 and it bearly had an effect.
D3 isn’t an MMO, ESO and Wildstar are just decent MMOs and WoW, again? There is no quality-titles to compete with GW2. If players want to give up on the game and go to play crappier games, it is their choice and WoW have been there for 10 years, if u like the concept of it, you shouldn’t be here.
D3 is an MMO (PC at least) you have to be online to even play the game…and it just got way more fun with RoS release…. theres plenty of people in my guild that will be playing RoS once its released… Its pretty fun farming with a group of friends… cant say that in GW2…yea you could run fracs over and over again lol, which we are tired of doing ><
ESO and Wildstar arent released yet…. they can’t compete with GW2 players right now if they arent even out on the market yet lol
WoW I agree, I highly doubt GW2 will be losing players to WoW…
The rest however will affect gw2 population. yes there will be a drop in players. Those are new games that will be a breath of fresh air from this game… you say they are crappier games yet I can almost guarantee you ESO, D3 and Wildstar will have an impact on GW2 player activity during this lull period in GW2…It is waay more fun to start up a new MMO with a group of friends than it is to currently play this game, especially after you have already done a lot of the things this game has to offer…

The reason it wasn’t so collaborative is because anet devs are still scratching their heads…. they release what a mess rangers are in and its tough to answer the community when they can’t come up with an answer….
the lack of collaboration in the ranger CDI means anet devs don’t have an answer yet… (thats my assumption)

Me and some friend went back to it. Gw2 is on rest for the moment.
Me too D3 Reaper of Souls is sooooo rewarding and the drops change your characters builds…Blizzard are slow but you do get quality and they LISTEN to there playerbase.
