Due to the timing, I assume that the Poison Master trait was already in the works when I proposed it in the CDI.

I agree IT COULD be a great trait, but i will never ever 100% touch it because EB is 100 times more important than a poison trait…. if this trait was in another line I could think of some uses but if you aren’t running EB in roaming/spvp scenarios, you aren’t a good ranger

I’ve been using the same freaking rotations as an ele for years.
Theres hardly any diversity in skill combos since the release of this game which is pretty sad. And it goes for a lot of classes. At least warriors have tons of different weapons so they get more opportunity to use a vast amount of skills but its still the same ole rotations for most classes…
Unfortunately, this balance team anet has does not have the resources to even make such a commitment to adding new skills. It struggling enough to keep balance in general. New skills would make it that much worse. Ofc I still hope they add new skills anyways… this has gotten stupidly boring seeing the exact same skill rotations for years
Rangers – pretty crappy in PvE. Just brutally honest here. Theres easily much better and more effecient classes for PvE than ranger, just a fact. Is rangers viable ? absolutely but if you aren’t bringing frostspirit/spotter, please kindly leave. You are literally worthless to the party without those 2 things.
Roaming WvW/sPvP – viable although limited in builds. Especially for sPvP…full power ranger in spvp or roaming wvw is doable but your damage is still pretty awful when compared to more bursty classes that offer REAL damage…. power rangers are awfully weak, which is why condi is the go to focus if you want to succeed at a much higher rate.
Power ranger is fine if you want to hop on the zerg train and spam 1/2 on LB+ full zerk/ 6/6/x/x/x .. you’ll get plenty of kills lol. You do pump some nice damage on squishy targets with LB and you are pretty much safe as long as you stay back of the zerg.
spvp – mostly spirit builds here, some regen bunker builds here and there and ofc your terrible bearbows who do nothing but stay away from the fray and fight like a girl from a safe distance.
Overall – they are viable in all aspects of this game, but not as effective as other classes…
For the love of god, please let there be a game mode where downstate is disabled.
If you die, you die. None of this nonsensical stomping. I beat you, period. I can’t even properly 2v1 when I finally down 1 person and the other guy just pushes me off from stomp and just rezzes who I killed…. such a lousy mechanic I can’t believe after nearly 2 years this is still in PvP…there is absolutely no other game with this kind of silly and useless mechanic.
There’s quite a few reasons why gw2 will never ever be considered an e-sport, and this is one of them. absolutely terrible downed system in PvP, has no place here. At least introduce a game mode without it.

Funny you saying meaningless gw1. Because thats how a lot of my guildies descibe the current rewarding system in gw2. Of course this is all just opinion but it doesn’t change the fact this reward system does need some re tooling.
Best: fun, fluid combat, lovely graphics/skins
Worst: lack of Rewarding/challenging content, too much focus on LS+gemstore items…, 2 years and still no update on pvp modes, new skills/abilities, new dungs,races, expanded weapon choices for classes. Majority of PvE is stupidly easy. PvP is unbalanced and lacks build diversity. Skyhammer.
Now if we could only actually find a reward infrastructure/type we could agree on adding.

I would love nothing more than anet coming up with some reward infrastructure changes , but if they decide that more difficult content gets the better rewards, it will cause a massive outcry from this casual fanbase, hence it will never happen IMO….

Yea it was the fastest selling MMO, but guess how many players quit after <6months?
Its been a dwindling playerbase, which is why the megaserver was in brought into place
The vast amount of dead maps with 1-2 players in most servers just casually leveling an alt or something
And the biggest reason for such a downfall is because the reward infrastructure is bad.
The toughest component of making a legendary(precursor) is 100% based on RNG. Thats pure lazy reward design.
Unfortunately, people in this game don’t want tough and difficult content to be more rewarding than casually playing…which is why I don’t think we will see a change in the reward infrastructure…

Mostly these wait times are in top tier servers with a high population… WvW can only have a limited amount of participants and given the fact theres very little to actually DO in the other aspects of the game (mostly PvE/open world PvE), WvW is the only other option… That is the only endgame right now for a big percentage of players… hence why theres always a lot of people trying to join
Now as to my opinion to why its dull….
1. Been the same map ever since launch basically.
2. Whoever has the bigger blob/ coverage wins. Simple game of numbers. Any1 can create a guardian in JQ server , equip a staff, hop on the zerg train and profit by spamming 1 and tagging as much as many players as you can.
Roaming is a fun part of WvW, its the only aspect that I enjoy for WvW because it somewhat tests your skills and and is way more enjoyable than following a zerg but it is by far, less rewarding than zerging…its just enjoyable, thats it.
So sick of this doom and gloom. Wait until July when we’ll probably get new areas, races, weapons and all that other stuff that peeps have been asking for. Anet has always delivered, and I don’t believe for a second they will disappoint this time.

If you want a 1 v 1, you must go condi ranger as condi ranger has the potential to beat everything 1 v 1 while power ranger cannot. For a team fight in the current meta, power ranger is better.
condi ranger is absolutely not beating a skilled d/d ele or bunker engi or necro dude.
If they totally suck and have no clue how to play their class you might beat the, but please.. a skilled D/D ele will cleanse anything you throw at it all while pummeling you…. bunker engis have an entire nest of turrets, gl surviving that… necro lol , 2x hp bar, WAY more condis than you can handle… you not beating team.You will also have tough time beating a well skilled warrior…
you SHOULD be able to wreck thieves, probably guardians and staff glass eles.
I personally prefer a mix with LB/ sword+dagger…. plenty of evades and solid sustain damage.. being able to engage at range for a some decent damage than swap into your melee range mode and go to town on your target with drakehound/wolf is pretty hard to beat out.
Going all out condi is just meh imo.. such a boring playstyle, even though it absolutely does work…
unfortunately this is the downfall of ranger… our full condi build doesnt even compare to what a condi mesmer/necro/engi can do. and our full power builds doesnt hold a candle to full zerk theives,warriors, guards, eles.
a bunker condi-ranger still has a chance though. I tend to beat most D/D eles with it. Just the constant pressure and staying at 100% hp while the pet hits for 3k dmg. With a small burst of about 4-7k dmg not counting the condition damage even.
Have been dueling a bit with it and won around 85% of all the duels but whenever another one joined in I lost almost instantly.
you dropping 7k bursts as a full condi ranger? would love to see that lol. not saying its impossible but… unless the target is just wrecked with vuln stacks + light armor, I dont see how you pump that kind of damage unless your using gs maul/swop combo or rapid fire on longbow but most condi rangers dont use those weapons, sounds like you might by a hybrid power/condi, which I could see dropping some decent, sustainable bursts
simple… stay out of the range of turrets lol.
If the engi built a nest at a point… dont bother unless you can 2v1 him down… just focus on the other 2 points and you will hold off. if engi leaves his turret nest, hes gonna get burned down very quickly….just let him rot in his nest… you not gonna beat a turret engi 1v1 in most cases if you stay in range of his turrets
simple answer, theres hardly anyone working on PvP for anet lol.
Their pvp team is unfortunetly terrible small and they can only do so much. Their focus is elsewhere..
There’s a reason why we still have NO NEW gamemodes at all in pvp since launch lol. SkyHammer still in que, some very bad class balancing issues, soo many cheesy builds still running rampant (MM necros, spirit ranger, hambows, etc etc)… the pvp dev team is just too small. you can probably count on one hand on all the ppl working exclusively for pvp… and rewards are probably the last thing they are concerned about…pvp-its an afterthought in gw2 , its no where near as amazing as gw1 pvp was sadly.
well, PAX is coming up in Sept, so there shouldnt be significant PvP update until November at the very least

Turret engineers which were no where are now everywhere. Rarely see any D/P thieves anymore, all are S/D (and they’re not even classic 2/6/0/6/0 s/d they’re all sizer’s new build) We also see Axe mainhand warriors.
Sigils and runes have a huge impact on builds and balance. It was a huge change.

Yea I see some turret builds, but I still saw plenty of them before… for the most part decap engi is still king… same with hambow, same with MM necro, same with spirit ranger…mesmers are primarly condi class, this hasnt changed it much. all the good ones still are condi’s. I agree I don’t see pistol whip thieves now but meh, theives are all pretty much same.

Ok, think about something for a second, Gw2 has been out for just over 1 YEAR! and they have already released tons of content for that first year, it took wow over 2 years for their first expansion, i dont know why everyone in this game is so dam impatient.
Also, they currently hold the best MMO in existence, if you honestly dont think that they are going to add huge updates to it then you are wrong. Currently from the gem store they rake in more money than monthly subs could ever pull in. They have 350 employees. There will be something Huge, and in my oppinion it will be very soon. But i am prepared to wait until next year for it because they shouldnt be required to release anything huge for another year.

gw1 released in april 05 i think? they released an xpac (factions) in april 06… and factions was an overwhelming succesful xpac… In the near 2 years gw2 has been out, there has hardly been anything close to prophecis + factions given the timeframe gw2 has had to work with so far…. 350 employees….. their entire focus has been LS + gemstore item and now, china….

ive collected roughly 60 tomes in about 2-3weeks of pvping… Didn’t even notice the stack until today lol. Just keep pvping ( I always do solo arena ques, hotjoin is a mess unless u wanna play around with a build and fine tune it).. you get better at the game and its more enjoyable than hopping on a zerg and spamming 1

Outside of teq and wurm, the entire open world “endgame” bosses/meta events are done by simply spamming 1. Its literally that easy. Hop on guardian and spam 1 with staff and it will rain heavy loot bags.
And guess what, this method happens to be incredibly rewarding lol.
Sure you can do your daily dungs but outside of doing it once for the daily gold, what incentive is there to farm?
Is it seriously that hard to add an option to all dungs and ask the player if they want a veteran/hard mode version of the dung that takes more time by ramping up diffuculty and adding different mechanics to get better loot and an overall more fun dung experience?

Triple threat is a tough open world raid as well and whats the reward? o more greens and blues. Thats just terrible. Spin it however you want to. So, what do you want as rewards? Let’s start getting some specifics down, or you’re just wasting space like ARWEN is saying the same thing over and over.
You want cool new skins but cant cash out real money? cool, just farm gold mindlessly. You cant farm any specific content to get a specific skin (outside fractal weapon skins which is stupidly rare btw and dung spec armors)
I’m amused you think any new content which would offer specific skins unrestricted and able to be sold/traded wouldn’t be farmed for it. Or wouldn’t have something in there to prevent repeated easy turnovers.

Farming content IS the endgame for most MMOs. As long as their is diversity in the content where I can go do x , y , z maps and feel rewarded

I see some superior runes in the TP that I would love to get my hands on but they have some outrageous prices (might runes, bloodlusts, etc), why not offer some of those runes as rewards in the challenging content?
If anet just wants to keep rewarding scraps, then why not add stuff like bolts of damask to the loot tables? I want to work on getting my legendary but I can’t go farm a specific location for lodestones because it is terribly inefficient and a waste of time. Its better to just farm gold and buy em. Theres plenty of things you can add to loot tables to add at least something worth farming…. I’m not sayin to add these things into open world mobs for farming, but challenging things likes completeing a dung under x amount of time, capping a tower in wvw, winning multiple arena games in pvp, teq/wurm etc etc.

It’s hard to have good end-game content requiring team coordination when the game has no defined roles. The new trinity of damage, support, control never materialized. Without roles there’s less emphasis on teamwork and coordination. Without teamwork and coordination, the content feels like a jumble of meaningless operations.
thats a entirely different topic (even thou I agree, there is no set define roles in this game, just do whatever you want, just know your class and know when to dodge , you will win easily at anything in PvE lol)

1. Warriors and Guardians have ALWAYS been the best all-round classes since when the game came out, at least in PvE. Classes like the Necro on the other hand have ALWAYS been underpowered. I don’t think this issue will ever be addressed because it would require a major rework of some professions and/or game mechanics in order to resolve this and that is something I don’t think Anet are going to do after the game has been out for so long. We will just have to live with it. This is similar to how mesmers were in GW1 PvE for about 5 years after the game came out before Anet decided to rework the entire profession so they could do more damage in PvE. That does leave me with a tiny glimmer of hope that they might someday realize how useless Necros are in PvE and buff them.
LOL, So b/c you cant and don’t know how to play a necro is automatically useless. well that’s to bad for you but necro under a skill player like my self can run around in circle on a warrior.
Necro has the top AOE damage on this game even better then elemental, I can wipe a group of elite mobs under 6 sec with out losing no more then 10% of my HP. I have a record of killing 10 elites in 1 shoot, I like to see warrior do that.
Necro can easily keep 20 stack of vulnerable by him self on mobs, giving the group a 20% damage increase
Necro has the best condition control on the game and CC , if you do fract this 2 skill are extremely important

Well, you could farm gold. Or you could go out there and actually do stuff for it. And I don’t really think the dungeon daily run is near as fun as dropping into WvW when it’s packed and active.

Teq boxes? you serious? 99% of the time its just more greens/blues/yellows. Maybe i’ll get a pet or ascended box one day lol. But i like teq because its not just spam 1 to win (for the most part)
End game is purely cosmetics (outside of ascended gear, which is fairly easy to achieve, just time gated) , but thats it. If thats what the majority of the players want, than so be it.

Rewards should scale appropriately to difficulty so people have actual incentive to get better and more skilled.
Zerg farming should never be more rewarding than FOTM 49.

Unfortunely, the philosophy for GW2 is all about the casuals….
If bigger and better rewards are gated behind actually difficult, time consuming content, majority of this games playerbase will be in outrage , ergo we will never see this type of challenging, demanding content that has unique rewards catered towards hardcore players.
If casuals can’t get a certain thing, they will cry till the worlds end until its fair for them.
You are asking for increased in difficulty =increase in rewards . This won’t happen unfortunately, as much as I would love it it. Now of course there are some casual players out there that would still love to see more challenging content that has better rewards than mindless zerg farming, but I just don’t think the majority of the playerbase will get behind this change of reward philosophy.
They have abandoned dungeons long ago. Every balance update is with tpvp in mind only and dungeons players will just have to eat it up

When you get into speed dung runs/ high lvl fracs, the diversity is better and theres a lot of ways to tackel these areas in terms of gear/trait diversity…. but yea asking for Open world pve balancing? lol? thats a joke. I hope anet doesn’t even bother to look into that lol. its 100% irrelevant and there are way more important things to work on

Why do we need to know this?
Because I want to know if the things I love doing the most have anyone working on them at all. I was super excited when the Aether path came out! And I was really hoping that there would be an armor set associated with it. I’m okay if it takes a long time for something to come out – I want the devs to feel like they got it just right and I want to feel like even if I don’t agree with them that they gave it their best. I’ll probably keep running the old dungeons/JPS/exploring old areas, but this is some of the stuff I love most about this game.
Gemstore + Living story is where the majority of anet’s focus is. Thats it.
Theres only a small spvp team outside that.
Class balancing? nah. WvW team? Hardly.
The money and focus lies in gemstore + living story because apparently thats what this playerbase reaallllly loves…..
I actually choose to play GW2 because it has no “end-game” content. If anything, things like Ascended gear feels wrong to me. And, Legendaries should just have Exotic stats. Not saying you’re wrong, OP, but I believe a lot of people chose this game exactly because of no “end-game”.
You are a casual player, of course this is the game for you
But its 100% possible to have endgame content and still please players like yourself…
Unfortuntely, I just don’t believe anet is up to the task of putting in that much work.
GW1 had a bigger dev team and it was obvious.
The lack of content in gw2 timeline shows you where anet’s focus is….gemstore + Living story. thats it. And unfortuntely, its not going to last very long with this model
The Megaserver system was solely introduced because of the vast amount of “dead” servers. Maps were completely barren outside of high tier servers. Spin it however you guys want to , but its pretty obvious the game has been losing players and its lack of endgame is one of the big reasons why.
Right now, all there is to do is go around doing
-WvW (which has literally been the same for over a year, EoTM is a joke and just filled with karma trains/uplvls).
-sPvP. The pvp is not even close to as good as it was in GW1. The amount of diversity in gw1 pvp was incredible. Here, every where game I join is filled with decap engi, hambow , MM necros , spirit ranger, etc etc. its Dull and boring. No new gamemodes for years? Its obvious they don’t care much about pvp here.
-Skin farming. not my cup of tea , but w/e. All you do is go around farming scraps and scraps and more scraps until you have enough to put together and buy a skin/legendary. The loot system might be the most dull thing i’ve ever seen. Champion loot bags? great we filled it with even more scraps to collect!
-Dungs are worthless outside of getting your daily gold.
-Living story – again, not endgame to me but we shall see how S2 is… If they have stuff like twisted marionette events great, if its same ole lame story with some achievements and a back peice? cya.
So there you have it. Most of the ppl left are playing for the skins/gemstore/. Servers have been bleeding pop which is the sole reason we got MegaServers now, you can’t even argue against that. If there isnt some big changes coming, this game won’t last without any meaningful xpac like content
why u whining? go play another class, its that simple lol.

The only progression from there on out is just PvP/WvW ranks, Gemstore skins and ascended/legendary farm. Also Achievement Point farm but thats ridiculous. Thats it. If you haven’t figured that out by now, you need to re-think life lol.
You could have quit 1 year ago and logged back in today and you would still find that you can do 100% of the content in this game. This is a casual players dream land. Nothing hardcore, grind it out , real progression wise will be added to the game (ascended is a joke, and half the player population is running around in sparkling legendaries so they aren’t that big of a deal. Some exotic skins are even better than legendaries)
Nothing skillful required to do the very easy PvE this game has to offer. Hop on a zerg and win. Or if you want, just buy w/e you want from the gemstore with cash and win.You want progression, go play 07runescape, WildStar/ESO/WoW. You are not gonna find a TRUE MMO progression in this game.

What Rangers offer that other classes don’t?
Entertainment. Whenever RNG is cruel, an event fails or a tower is lost people can crack jokes at this class’ expense to ease the tension. We can also name our pets in accordance to that to elicit a few chuckles. Recommended names: Bait, Useless, ImAlwaysDead, PetSwapIsOnCD and AnetWillNeverFixMe.

I used to main ranger. Wish i didnt spend gems on expanding his inventory now….
Switched to Ele and haven’t looked back since…. in all honestly every other class is in a MUCH better spot than Rangers are…. I really wish I could like my ranger again, but jeez everything is just so much better. I feel like I’m actually contributing to my party if I build that way as an Ele, and I do SO MUCH better DPS than crappy rangers and their dead pets.
Why do people still want to play this class?
Anet can’t fix it , its going to be close to 2 years and rangers are still laughable (especially in PvE)
other classes are simply MILES better. point blank, period.
they need to FIX THE LOOT than worry about drop rates
This loot system is similar to Diablo3… everything you kill, any activity you do, its pretty much greens/blues/yellows…. the occassional orange that is worth a few gold.
All you do is farm scraps scraps scarps and more scraps and for what? to make the same yellows/oranges lol
Precursors can be found ANYWHERE , who ever is blessed by RNGesus will only get one though
there needs to be a better loot system implemented… theres no special loot anywhere in the game where you can specifically farm because THERES NO LOOT

I could care less about legendaries, they aren’t even uniques IMO. every where I go I see ppl twisting around in their twilights and what not.
skins for endgame is fine I guess, but there has to be ways to aquire it outside a stupid paywall… only way to get them is to keep on this tedious boring grind for scraps and muster enough coins to just buy them off TP….. LAME

It doesn’t matter if this new Crown Pavillion stuff actual drops loot…. THE LOOT SUCKS. Period.
Everywhere you go its the same, you see exact the same rewards. Buncha greens/blues. the occasional yellows. And ofc tokens! to get the flavor of the month skin.
The loot in general is just absolutely abysmal and uncreative.
There is no specific place to farm for anything. Everything drops everywhere… yawn….
You are already in endgame gear by lvl 80…whats the point of loot now?? oh work towards skins I guess….

GW2 is a casual players fantasy MMO.
But no true hardcore MMO player enjoys this game because it really lacks endgame, real pvp and real competition.

There hasn’t been any new PvP mode since freaking release – that shows me anet doesn’t care all that much about PvP…No trinity also pretty much means its no where near as competitive (in terms of teams, not 1v1ing) as other MMOs that have trinity in their PvP
The loot/itemization is shameful. No sense of progression period. You hit 80 in a week or less. Once you hit 80, you basically have the gear you need to do anything in the game other than really hardcore min maxing WvW or high level fracs…
Dungs/fracs are worthless and lame- tokens for a skin and a few gold… literally hardly any reason to do dungs.. fractals sure you can grind and grind for the same reward you can get in other parts of the game (besides frac skins)
PvE build diversity is non existent. Everyone is in zerker, theres literally no reason to even theory craft about build diversity in PvE lol. Everything works yay!!
Zerg zerg zerg content is the rest of the game.
Want to get a legendary or anything of value ? hop on the champ train or WvW zergs lol. or any meta chain events
Spam 1 with a guardian staff, profit. Real sense of achievement there….
If you consider an MMO as best that only has skins/gemstore as the endgame than by all means go for it… but realize its not a valid opinion to a lot MMO players…

well, u can rapid fire for 15 stacks of vulnerability, (have remorseless in marks), stealth, swap to gs (with sigil of intelligence), and maul…
that’s 25 stacks of vulnerability, crit, and kind of a free hit cuz u were in stealth when u cast maul
pretty nice combo imo
that combo only works on players who are AFK
you arent gonna land most of the rapid fire shots…that skills is very easy to evade/block. One evade and you will miss like 4-5 shots lol. some1 can easily just chain evade 2 in a row and you will avoid pretty much all damage…. rapid fire is awful when the person you are trying to hit actual has you targeted and knows what your doing lol.
if you are asking for a burst combo like wut hambowers do or DD eles, we don’t have anything close to that effectiveness unfortunetly….
Not only that, but those other classes can also stack might MUCH easier… rangers have to sacrifice a ton to stack might…
Ranger is and will not be a burst classs (unless you really think QZ + rapid fire or swop+maul with MoC is an actual effective burst rotation)
What i’m trying to get at is, what exactly is the point of healing in PvE?
It’s not required to even bother to spec even a little bit of healing.
Its not that DPS is the obvious best choice, it’s that there is no practical reason to go towards a healing spec, like clerics build. If you want do be a full cleric party by all means, go for it, play how you want to, but a lot of people see that there really is no reason to go for it, other than to just play around with the spec…
healings broken because there is no system in place for it in this game right now and thats tied to how the mob AI works… there’s no defined experience in the PvE part of this game where I feel like going towards healing would benefit me.
PvP is a whole different story and I agree theres some great diversity in that playing field but PvE wise, I personally don’t see as how healing will matter unless there is serious change to how PvE content works…
My question is, if Anet didn’t want healing to be a major focal point, why introduce a stat like healing power? The stat itself is largely pointless because investing too much into it would mean sacrificing your dps, which is the bread and butter of this game. Also, most healing skills perform fine without it and the scaling is really poor for the most part.
I’m all for destroying the typical MMO trinity, but to me it doesn’t make sense to have stats in a game that are useful for specific build roles, only to then make those roles ineffective and thus, the stats along with them.
Healing power can be used:
- In PvP, as an adjunct to some bunker builds; bunkers are strong in PvP
- In WvW, again as part of a bunker set-up
- In PvE; not all teams are optimized, not all players play at the same level of intensity. To those people, bunker or even cleric’s play may be preferable. I’ve been in guild groups where I was asked to bring my bunker engie, who has some added healing power — instead of one of my GC characters. HP is decidedly not optimal, but that does not mean it is not used.
In every MMO I’ve seen, the dungeon/raid meta has always been about using the most efficient set-up. Enrage timers guarantee this, if not player desires for speed once something is on farm. Many build options are reviled in those games as well. Whole talent trees and large parts of other trees get ignored. Players complain about being forced to play a certain way, and about being kicked because their DPS is lower than the set threshold. The main difference is that other games have fewer stat options on gear than GW2, but even that is changing some.
Does every stat, every aspect of all builds have to be optimal in every game play mode? If so, there’s only one way to do that — by eliminating build choices.

There is only DPS DPS DPS in GW2 (I’m talking strictly PvE here).
There is literally no reason to be in any other gear. Everything is done just fine in zerk gear. Thats all you need
In other MMOs, you have healers, tanks, DPS. All of those EASILY have more variety than power, prec, crit damage. There is absolutely zero diversity in PvE for GW2 because the system is completely flawed.
Why on gods green earth do I need to be wearing clerics gear in PvE?
Dodging and learning the mechanics of this games simple PvE is an absolute farce, there is nothing difficult about the PvE in this game because it was catered for casuals.
You can do lvl 50 fracs in full zerk gear with ease once you learned the mechanics, which by no doubt you should have since you are upto lvl 50.
The build diversity for pve is EXTREMELY simple and straight forward , theres no beating around the bush. In other MMOs at least you have viable options to spec into different things for PvE. Clerics is not viable at all here , unless you want to be utterly slow and ineffecient on purpose. Condi damage based gear is worthless in PvE. Pure tank gear? for what lol. theres no dedicated healing here, what you tanking for ? you are only holding your party back by not doing more DPS.
That’s where this games lack of itemization and gear diversity really shows. There is no fortifaction, no enchanting , no socketing. You can pick out some runes and some sigils lol. ya that’s a whole lot of diversity and theory crafting there for you! not…. Compared to any other MMO on the market, this games itemization/gear choices is way below par. Even when anet had the clear opportunity to add diversity by making runes more interesting. Instead, everyone is basically pidgeonholed into one 6 peice set of runes. Why can’t we be creative and have different combo’s that are just as effective? Why can’t we have two different runes, 3 peice sets for added diversity? or three different runes for viable 2 peice set effects? It’s mind boggling how un- creative and bland the itemization is

I get a big laugh at people saying this game is social .
You guys must not have played an actual MMO where being in a guild was a requirement to be successful in an MMO
in GW2, you can accomplish literally everything you want without ever stepping footinside a guild – This is the very definition of anti-social. You have no reason to ever group SPECIFICALLY from your guild. You can PUG any dungs because lets be real, dungs are a joke, anyone can run them. You can just join any commander party or hop on the zerg if you want to WvW.
PvP is somewhat social if you want a good solid team in team Qs, thats a good social experience. You learn and develop as a team over a period of time.
In all my MMOs i’ve experienced from back in the day (Dekaron, KO, EQ, DoAC), if you weren’t in a guild, you were left behind in the dust in the MMO world. You can’t farm or grind or pvp playing solo. And this is what made those games a blast
What do i need to be in a guild for in this game?
Guild missions and maybe some for hardocre WvWing, but i’m not a huge WvW fanatic because i think its a joke of a Realm Vs Realm system, but thats just my opinion.
You can get a legendary or full ascended all on your own. There’s no reason to ever party with guildies or anything (unless you just want someone to chat to).
There’s no real benefit of being in a guild right now , other than the fact its just where a bunch of your friends can chat in one place.
There are very little sociable experiences in this game. That’s what makes it IMO , one of the most anti-social MMOs I’ve played.
This will never change unless they rebalance the core of the real problem – Monster AI
Until anet actual decides that dodging/blocking is less important, this will never change
Current design, veterean mobs and up are simply going to just 1 hit you if you don’t block or dodge. period.
Dodging / blocking do more for you than any healing/tanking gear could possibly do and thats because of the lazy and unthoughtful design of the Mob AI.
Its not that you cant play a support build, there is just no reason to do so.
healinng isn’t broken, it’s this lousy Mob AI system where its dodge/block or hahah you downed son. There is absolutely no reason to wear healing/tanking gear (in PvE).
If you aren’t zerk, i’m sorry but you are doing it wrong. There is no trinity in this game, instead its just a singular, DPS DPS DPS.
You can’t fix bad design unless you change the core, which anet prolly wont, too much resources.
anet is so cheap they can’t have more than 1 studio?
Or maybe the income gained wouldn’t justify the expenditure in opening a second studio?

Yea absolutely as a player I wish they (NCsoft) would allocate more resources to anet because this game has a lot of potential but right now, I don’t think NCsoft is all that worried about their player base growing impatient. They can afford to wait it out.
Anet’s hands are tied by NCsoft. This game will continue to see ACTUAL meaningful, permanant content (not LS nonsense) at a snails pace as long as NCsoft dictates.
What is GW2 missing? That’s easy, actual challenging/rewarding endgame. Unfortuntely GW2 is by far, the most casual game I’ve ever played. It is built and catered specifically for very casual MMO players.
WvW? Not endgame to me. Its a blob vs blob endgame. Small groups/skirmishes are rewarded pathetically and have very little effect on the overall environment that is WvW…. its very much a Zerg Vs Zerg gameplay, period. Whoever has the bigger blob and coordinated group that listens to a commander wins. It doesn’t even come close to the Original realm vs realm gameplay that way we saw back in the day of DoAC.
spvp – lol. Doesn’t hold a candle to original GW’s PvP system. I can’t believe they regressed on this. The reason I bought GW2 is because of how much fun I had in GW1 doing pvp. Its not the same here. Every match I enter, all i see are hambows, decap engis, spirit bunk rangers, cheese thieves and MM necros. Almost 2 years and we still have the same ole build dominating the pvp scene. Still no new modes to pvp. Its lackluster, sorry.
and why is PvP not being focused that much by anet? because casuals very rarely play it. Its a barren wasteland. Heart of the Mists is pretty much a ghost town in this game, no one cares that much about PvP.
PvE? lol havent had anything new to do here in years. No new dungs, Fractals are a joke and unrewarding. The most rewarding thing to do in PvE is running in a freaking zerg train. Thats challenging and fun! not.
That game has a lot of potential – but its serious lack of meaningful endgame is what will be its downfall. It’s catered to casuals too heavily, hence why we are still seeing Living Story updates as priority over actual, meaningful expansion pack content.
Cosmetics and skins are the endgame. Thats fine, but you are totally neglecting any potential hardcore MMO players with this kind of endgame system…

They honestly need to do away with this Living Story… It was a nice effort but it was a total fail
People only did it the first few days of release, max. Just to get achievement points or w/e flavor of the month skin. The only LS update I played longer than a few days was twisted marioneetees… I loved the battle personally… also TONS of loot from her chests so yea, that was pretty fun but its GONE… ya great idea there, lets remove the fun stuff
It was a total waste of resources by anet and I pray they don’t make the same mistake again….
There needs to be meaningful content added, Living story is not it. Period. Majority of MMO players could care less about some constantly revolving story…. give us meaningful, xpac like content. That what keeps MMOs going. Adding content, not a kitten story and than removing w/e content the story added a few weeks later. The hell is the point of that????
