Oh, a name for the title came to mind. “Agonising”.
I’d grind for that :^)
Condi dps = sinister engi hands down
Sword/torch LB Warrior with the elite spec is higher condi DPS than sinister engi atm, even if bosses don’t stay in the bow F1 fire field for the entire duration
Are you sure about that? Assuming you build it optimally (ascended Viper’s armor/weapons, Sinister trinkets, good food etc.), how many stacks of burning/bleed can you roughly maintain on a boss?
/bump
We can’t let this die guys =P
Cephas, this is about the upcoming PvE raids, not WvW
+1 and bump
This thread should be sticky =)
Originally I would say “tank”, but with the recent change to blighter’’s boon, I’m not as sure.
You could try a Death Magic minion build for “tanking”. I don’t think Blighter’s Boon is necessary, “Rise!” and the DM traits make you super tanky already.
The toughness increase from Flesh of the Master and maybe Corrupter’s Fervor (not sure if this is required) should be enough to hold aggro on bosses that go for highest toughness, so you can even stay on Berserker’s gear.
Edit: The problem is that Reaper needs to be in melee range for damage which might be a bit tough depending on how much pressure the raid bosses put out (BB might be good in that case). Also, Druids can’t heal you while in Shroud, that sucks.

Nobody is trying to shoot down the OP (at least I’m not), I just wanted to point out that in my opinion “doing dungeons” is more than just farming the brazier room in CoF p1 for exp and that I therefor don’t consider this farm as such.
WOW, You don’t say? -_-
Er I know……It’s irrelevant they are getting NO loot, they are inside a 3 year old dungeon farming the content for xp when they should be playing the shiny new expansion. I don’t know what part of this you cannot seem to grasp?
Why are you even arguing? lol
No need to be snarky. You are the one that opened this thread, why bother posting if you don’t want discussion?
What I wanted to express is: CoF exp farm =/= doing dungeons. It is has nothing to do with proper dungeon running, it is a totally different experience and the majority of people doing it probably don’t give a kitten about dungeons and the community.
Also, it will not be long-lived anyways.
What do you think happens when all the people that like the farm have their masteries maxed out (if you do it casually 4-5 days I’d say)? Do you think they’ll still hang around in CoF huh?
/double post because forum lag >.>
(edited by Skoigoth.9238)
The CoF farm hardly classifies as “doing dungeons” =P
It’s farming in the dungeon. The original intent was to disuade people from the dungeons. The complete opposite has happened. The point remains.
People don’t farm in CoF because they want to complete the dungeon, they do it because they can run in circles and hit infinitely re-spawning mobs.
The CoF farm hardly classifies as “doing dungeons” =P
I like it on Mallyx, it’s kinda fitting for a monkey demon. Then I’m pretty indifferent to the noises Jalis, Ventari and Shiro make, but Glint is absolutely driving me NUTS. No offense to the voice actress, but these grunts… X_X
Mesmer has pretty decent mobility now, so I wouldn’t use them as an excuse.
If you use Shiro you can use Phase Traversal to dash towards neutral/ambient creatures etc. to move more quickly. Also super-speed from Impossible Odds helps combat mobility a lot.
I agree with the condition part of your post though. Pretty bad fight to pick if you run Shiro/Glint (the way I build it at least).
Can still not log in, with any character, after latest patch.

Gooble gobble, gooble gobble, one of us! One of us!
My favourite would be Power/ferocity/condition damage
With Decimate defenses and Death perception of course
I +1 this. Please Mr. Geesus, make it happen.
@Ikaus, this isn’t about what Necro build is “the best” or if Necros are bad in pve or not. This is about Nemesis’ personal feud with other members of the community. He just packages his quest for revenge in a mixed bag of obvious facts, unrepresentative empirical data and a slew of insults directed at said members of the community to stir up some drama so that people outside of his loyal fan-base even give a kitten about what he has to say.
I can’t stress this enough, videos as vile as these last two are no basis for a healthy and informed discussion. I doubt most people are really interested in the actual content, people just watch it for drama and that is probably intentional.
Do people actually kick Reapers now though?
Not yet… but they still drop Icebows… and prefer to stick to old meta composition.
Which is perfectly normal. PuGs generally adapt much slower to changes than e.g. speed-run guilds. It took people months (!) after the FGS nerf to acknowledge the changes that were made and even today there are still people that stack in the old FGS spots for no apparent reason.
Those are probably also the people that ask for “perfect” party compositions etc.etc….
In regard to your videos, I said it in the thread on your first video and say again: If you want to have a discussion among adults stop personally attacking people (regardless of your personal history with them) and accusing them of stupid kitten like faking math and manipulating their viewers to generate more views. That’s disgusting.
What? The other thread got deleted already? What a surprise…
I’m using Berserker’s as well and do just fine. But yes, some mobs in the new maps will hurt a lot if they hit you. I recommend using a couple of more defensive traits and utilities if you feel you are struggling to much (e.g. Foot in the Grave and Blighter’s Boon helped me out a lot when I ran around on my own). Also, have a Staff ready in case you can’t fully melee something (up-scaled champs and stuff like that) and an energy sigil on your secondary weapon is also pretty nice.
Yeah, 10% sigil + bloodlust sounds reasonable. However, in some instances you can’t gather stacks or can’t make use of slayer/night sigils, so my “catch all” set currently is force + air.
It’s pretty good. The extra crit chance is not really wasted if you fight against mobs above level 80, which a lot of the mobs in e.g. the new maps or fractals are.
You are pretty squishy though, have to rely a lot on your dodges/evades.
It keeps getting removed because its actually a pretty toxic video. He just spends the majority of it bashing me, nike and sesshi.
Still cant stop laughing about him quoting things i said over 2 years ago before i really had a grasp on things.
I loved how he pronounced your name though :^) “teh Sposch vs. teh Neemesiis”
PS: For those that have already unlocked the full/most of the elite spec: I’ve read that most of the “easy” hero points are in Verdant Brink and Auric Basin. Can confirm?
Can confirm that as well. Tangled Depths (3rd map) is HELL if you are solo =P
I’m 85% done. Got all the important stuff so I stopped for now to grind a bit more for Herald and Daredevil =)
nah couldnt stop since CttB is last, and thats very important to me
Well, of course I meant I unlocked everything important to me personally as well. CttB has it’s place for sure, but for now I’m enjoying my fresh and sturdy Golem compadre =)
Grats Unholey/deSade =)
Shame I like the regular ones better as well…

Consider yourself lucky, I fully unlocked all the core specs asap, but only the collection for the headpiece unlocked properly for me. The rest is still locked.
From what I’ve heard it seems to be a rather common problem and might be connected to unlocking the specs while being in the PvP lobby, a tutorial instance (that’s what I did) and maybe certain other instances.
400 points isn’t really that bad. It’s bad right now, sure, but after a few weeks if playing around in HoT you’ll max it out and never think about it again.
Unless you plan to do it on all 9 of your characters, simultaneously want to participate in the Halloween event, play the new story, do some pvp, progress in fractals, prepare for raids etc.etc.. There is just SO MUCH to do right now X)
Edit: Aaaand I haven’t even really started with Reaper yet. Dumped my ~200 points into the line and that’s about it, I figured I start with Herald because I don’t get a “headstart” on my rev. Currently I’m stuck grinding all the masteries you need to accesses all the HPs, with turned out to be much more time consuming than I originally thought tbh.
(edited by Skoigoth.9238)
A lot of the spec collections are a mess atm. Luckily I only have problems with the mistward collections. I fully unlocked all the core specs, but only one collection (headpiece I think) got unlocked. Rest is still locked and and the game tells me to unlock all of my core specs T_T nice one.
And meanwhile Silverwastes Chest [F]arm brainless activity still going strong.
Pathetic really
this pretty much… oh well :,(
Oh yeah, I haven’t even thought about Blood Fiend tbh =D Gonna give it a shot tomorrow for sure.
Ugh, I personally can’t stand wing back pieces and there are so many of them <.< #WingWars2
I’ll see if the mummy back piece looks any good ig tomorrow, otherwise I’ll probably stick to my Toxic Spore.
Herald first and then I’ll see. Unless Rev is getting a nerf I doubt I’ll have the desire to play anything else for a looong time.
Well it makes Flesh Golem a lot better and that’s the only minion I’d take in a regular power build anyways =P
Aren’t they taken anyway simply for boon removal? I don’t think chronomncer boon rip would be enough.
It is clear necro has one of the best boon rip of all professions. However, because they designed raids so that you don’t need a specific class, the amount of boon rip “necessary” cannot be too high. One thing they can do is having a lot of boons which are “preferably” removed, in which case necro would be fine, but other classes can still work.
With Mesmers/Chronos being catapulted into god tier with the upcoming changes to companions (it basically eliminates the biggest weakness the class currently has in PvE), I’m afraid our boon removal capabilities will become even more irrelevant to the meta sadly =/
Yeah, it was pretty funny in retrospect^^ Turned out later that he simply wasn’t around yet when fgs was a thing, so he wasn’t familiar with the abbreviation. I could swear I took a screenshot of the chat afterwards, but I can’t find it right now. Oh well… #puglife
This gets even easier if you set up a cooling rod first and gets ridiculously simple if an Ele drops you an FGS.
Just be careful when asking for FGS in pugs, I got kicked once because the guy thought I was calling him and his guildies f*gg*ts for not being able to do the heat room themselves X)
400 points, urgh…. rip my weekend…
Waiting to have fun! Yaaaaaaay! \(<_<)/
Hmm is it weird that I honestly don’t see a problem here? Ignoring situational skills, how is our situation much different from lets say Staff Eles camping fire and casting #2 and #5 on cd? Or, Grenth forbid, Herolds popping their passives and auto-attacking for pretty much the rest of the fight? =P The only class that really stands out to me in that regard is Engi of course, but I don’t think every class necessarily needs rotations as complex as the Engineer’s.
I agree that most of our weapons desperately need some work, but neither Dagger nor Greatsword are at the top of the list if you ask me.
I think nobody really expected MM to suddenly become crazy overpowered or become “meta” because of this change =P
In PvE Mesmers benefit from this change more than any other class anyways, but I think for us it might open up the possibility for some cheeky aggro-control builds for content where that sort of thing can work (stacking Toughness with Flesh of the Master and Corrupter’s Fervor to hold aggro while running full Berserker’s that is).
Something like this maybe: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNAodRnM0AN1gd1AebCs3gFqBbqBUBmASBgBQKLuDeCbhA-TxRBABPt/wVK/wTfwDnCAAeCAUq+jZKBJFQEjBA-e
This sounds really, REALLY amazing for us lol
When you mix stats make sure you balance your Precision in a way that you still get a reasonably high crit chance. How exactly you achieve that is personal preference I guess.
If you for now just plan on playing through the story and general open world PvE (that’s what I assumed you mean with “playthrough”) it probably doesn’t really matter what stats you choose tbh.
If you feel comfortable enough to run Berserker’s and don’t mind playing a power build, I’d just pick that one and see how it goes =)
I suggest Berserker’s or Knight’s/Valkyrie for power, Sinister or Rabid/Carrion for condi and maybe Zealot’s or Cleric’s if you want to go Ventari heal-support.
^ Yes, what I meant is that it locks you in the animation for ~1.5 sec before the hit occurs and then goes into ~0.2 sec of aftercast, which took me some time to get used to.
Not 100% sure about those numbers though, I´ve seen ppl calculate total cast times ranging from ~1.6 sec to ~2 sec, which is a pretty huge gap. Would be nice to get some clarification on that one =)
I haven´t seen any comprehensive calculations on Reaper damage so far, so pls correct me if I´m wrong, but I believe Dagger AA still beats RS AA against 2 or less targets. Also, burning maybe will get tuned down a bit with HoT (just speculation), so Dhuumfire might not be worth it in power builds anymore.
Gravedigger is a bit clunky to use sometimes because of the root, that´s correct, but if you miss it you can still fall back to RS or Dagger for ~8 or 9 sec and be fine I think.
Ah, so it is a root. That’s helpful to know, thanks.
Sorry, I was sloppy on my language there. It is not an actual root, it is just clunky because of the long cast time. You can move will casting it.
Rest of what? The damage comes in two packets of 100% max health.
Based on this, I would assume that Plague with >90% health is enough to survive both hits. Plus some extra for agony.
I heard something about being able to have both Death Shroud and Plague up, which would probably result in what we can see in the video; that’s just my guess though.
I guess he uses Unholy Sanctuary, no?
Hey! I´m one of “those guys over there” =P
Build is looking good, pretty much what I used for solo play last BWE, but I would never use SR without Vital Persistence. The small cd reduction on Lich Form from Spectral Mastery just doesn´t cut it and the extra LF-gen can´t compete with the decreased degeneration from Vital Persistence as well imo.
Swapping out SR for BM in group content definitely seems like the right thing to do though.

I like how he suddenly started saying “Fractal Dungeons” instead of FotM :^)
