So, considering we already have ton of RNG in this game, why not add another one that would actually encourage people to login each day?
What I propose:
Everyday, there will be a 1,000gem prize to a random player who logged in for at least X minutes(something short, like 5minutes). This would have very little impact on the macro scale of the economy and yet will be great incentive for people to login. Also, this is a great way to promote and advertise the gem shop.
What do you guys think?
It wouldn’t exactly be ‘legendary’ if everyone and their mother have one. Then again, it was never legendary to begin with.
You see that’s the problem. Because they are gift cards you can’t transfer both of them to paypal.

make 2 paypal account, with 1 CC linked to each. Use fake info if u need 2 but make sure it matches with the info registered on that card. Go to ur paypal account with the lower $ amount, then click send money, and send it to the one with the larger $ amount.
Then simply pay using the paypal with the $

Investing.
It’s simple.
You take a large sum of gold and buy something.
The markets prices raise up.
You sell the product
You have just made more gold.
There’s no such thing as “Nothing to do” with money.
That makes sense on paper but doesn’t work well in practice…
If ur buying up supply with the intent to sell, then these supply will eventually be reintroduce to the market. Eventually, the artificial price will be plummet as people undercut and supply is reintroduced faster than demand. This is often the case unless you feed the market very slowly, in which case, it would not be efficient at all(unless it is something like precursor, which carries its own risks).
No, you buy something and hold onto until the market rises. A perfect example is when the ectoplasm in the game was 25s, if you invested in hundreds of exctoplasm you would have made a fortune selling them for 40s in the future.
Also, Guild Wars classic had the same result. there was a time where a new farming method game out and dropped ectoplasm to 5.5 platinum. I invested in a ton of ectoplasm and ended up selling hundreds of ectoplasm for 7 platinum.
The way to make money is virtually the same in every game. You need money to make money, and the biggest profits are made by holding something until the price rises and you sell it.
Contrary to popular belief, you very rarely make money in games by “short selling” the products. (Buying the product and selling it higher within the same day, hoping to control the market.)
Time is money.
There’s no such thing as “Nothing to do” with money.
But … it would make a perfect excuse to brag about it in forum, no?
Precisely.
That is why I referred the stock simulator game, it’s as close to the real world you can get without actually spending money.
The gold in this game is truly valueless, which is why its really easy to make tons of gold.
Actually no, its not valueless. Well… practically and not legally. If it were truly “valueless” u would have no problem sending me all ur gold?
I play games for fun, not some market simulator… =.=

@Firegoth.6427 I don’t spend nearly as much time in the TP as you think I do…
@laokoko.7403 Well, if we take assets, buy orders, and pickup items into account, I’m probably way over 10k :P
(edited by Sky.7610)
So… After having accumulated quite a bit of gold playing the TP, what am I suppose to spend them on? I pretty much have everything I wanted…
Does anyone know how i can maximize my profit using these? Current have around 3 kit laying around and trying to get rid of them.
I remember seeing a thread somewhere recently about buying a certain item on the TP, salvage it and the Rune would sell more than the purchased item, + etcos… with a black lion salvage kit…
Do you guys think the gold —> gem cost will be greatly reduced once the molten pick sale is over, or would it be only be slightly reduced?
Alternatively, will the cost of gem be maintained at this level or even rise?
Are gems overvalued or undervalued, or just right?
Hi,
I want to level a toon from scratch to level 80 using crafting.
Can someone link me to the cheapest way in going about it?
Thanks!
I thought it gives your toon the permanent title “I Am Great” and sets your stats to their maximum possible value (upgraded automatically in the case of a level cap raise).
That’s only in the case of a single Eternity. It doesn’t have enough power! You gotta obtain 4 and throw it all into the mystic forge to get this button!
You cannot put Eternity in the Mystic Forge.
/close thread
(I completely get your point, but you lose on a mere technicality)
Lies.
The game is designed in a way that when someone throw 4 Eternity into the mystic forge, you will obtain a Red Button. If the button is pressed, the game shuts down and deletes all data because the person have won the game, and playing any further would be pointless.
My ultimate goal is to win this game.

My guild has quite a few ladies. They are the most active in our mumble server a lot of the time. I’d say they are about 25% – 30% of our active players.
Obviously voice-changing software. Don’t be fooled. Refer to my previous post.
Your response actually reminded me of a conversation I had with a friend about spotting the difference between a female player and a male impersonator. I came to the conclusion the only way was to talk about periods, lols were had.
I’m kidding.
According to the wiki it’s 20% chance..
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_Forge
There is roughly a 20% chance to create a random higher rarity dye, rune or mini-pet by respectively combining four dyes, runes, sigils, or mini-pets
It is incorrect. There is hardly sufficient data. Also, according to the wiki, the only way to obtain a exotic mini pet is through the mini pet collection in the gem store, which may or may not be correct.

Rare to exotic is about 5%. Taking huge gamble risks are rarely a good investment.
Ratio of male to female playing this game is the same as the drop rate of porous bone:Dusk.
I was just kidding, i’m not that evil. I will at least give you 24hrs of grace period to sell urs.
There are 51 GW2 servers worldwide. The game have sold a milestone of 3million.
3,000,000 / 51 = approx 58,823 average accounts registered to each server.
If we were to assume a 10% active accounts that plays at any given point in time, then there are approx 5,882 people playing in each server at any point in time.
This would bring the total to approx 300,000 players across all servers at any point in time.
Of course, these are just estimates.

This is what happens when you try to screw people over, I hope that you and your friend lost all your gold.
That’s a rather harsh way to put it. If he listed the item for 10x their original amount and it sells, then it means that the item was undervalued all this time. If it doesn’t then the seller will lose money, which they had in this case, for overvaluing their goods.
Their mistake is not trying to screw people over, rather overvaluing their goods (also lack of capital to certain degree).
And by the looks of it some lack of understanding some basics about the TP.
And where does Arena Net put down the info on all this?
It’s not written within the game and i agree to a certain extend that these information should be made more available in a convenient manner. However, like the TP sales tax of 10%, this rule is not written and is something that needs to be observed.
I have 2 Frostfang in my bank, I will undercut you by 1c :P <3

This is NOT a bug. The TP only list the cheapest 20 prices(or a number similar to it).
For example, if there are 30 of the same item on the TP, each with 1c apart in price, only the cheapest 20prices will show and the most expensive 10 will not.
Also, attempting to manipulate a market, even a small one, with little capital is usually not a good idea. This is especially true if you attempted to raise the price to such unrealistic level.

LOOK AT THE DATE PEOPLE ITS APRIL FOOLS! u will be disappointed.
It doesn’t exist. It’s April fools. Yes, Anet tried a little too hard. Okay, bye.
What happen to it? It jumped from 12c to 44c in a week… Did something happend that I’m not aware of? I look at the path notes and I didn’t see any reason why the price would drop this much…
Is there something happening that’s going to require this item? This is such a heavily supplied item and yet the supply is so low.
Warriors are kittenroaches and Engineers are Whales.
Depth is:
The distance from the top or surface of something to its bottom.
Distance from the nearest to the farthest point of something or from the front to the back.
It doesn’t.
or because The game wants to troll you.
Its not a punishment no matter how many rediculous strawman arguments you make. Punishment by definition means;
Punishment (also known as discipline or penalty) is the authoritative imposition of something undesirable or unpleasant on, or the removal of something desirable or pleasant from, a person, animal, organization or entity in response to behavior deemed unacceptable by an individual, group or other entity.
Not doing dailes is not a punishment. Seriously go get a job and try claiming not getting a work related bonus is a punishment. You would get laughed out the bosses office.
Authority: Anet
Imposition of something undesirable: doing daily or be economically disadvantaged ever so slightly.
Conclusion: punishment.
I feel bad for the people that heavily invest into this. Even if the drop rate is decreased, demand for the item is still to low for the supply available. Therefore, they can only sell a small proportion of what they have in stock for great margins. The people that bought a few to take advantage of the manipulators are in the best situation.

Some people really need to learn the difference between a bonus and a punishment.
Dailies are a bonus.
Not doing dailies is not a punishment, your just not getting your bonus.
If it was really a punishemnt then you would have X number of gold or gear REMOVED from your account for NOT doing the daily.
You have $1. You were happily able to buy an apple. I give a bonus to every person in the country $50,000 (example). Would that apple still cost $1? Probably not, but nothing were removed from you! So why is this not a punishment?
———————————————————————————
@everyone else, Yes, you running dungeons, events, w/e ruins my gaming experience! Sky orders you to stop this atrocious act!
This is your argument in a nutshell: You’re being punished for a job you refuse to do, while other are getting paid to do it. Therefore, it’s unfair that they’re getting paid, and you’re not, because their increased income will hurt the economy.
…
You don’t see a huge flaw in your reasoning?
I don’t generally pay to do do a job but I think its unfair that government print money then give it as a bonus to certain people that did something which was suppose to be optional, which in the process, devalue everyone else’s money.
The money you get from dailies is negligible. Playing your own way will yield the same amount of money. How much money do you think you get from dailies? it’s like 5s…
Karma can’t be used to inflate the market, nor can mystic coins. Laurels will only make prices for t6 mats and exotics go down since there will be a nice injection of supply (if people are using laurels on those; most people save up for ascended gear, which is BoA and does not affect the market.
All of this translates to lower item prices, not higher… So what’s your problem? You’re actually rewarded for everyone else’s hard-work (like unemployment) with lower item prices for hard to get stuff, all the while you can wander aimlessly gathering herbs or hunting ambients.
This is a market fallacy to assume that everyone benefits from daily. People who receives mystic coin and laurels gains an economic advantage over those that don’t even if the price of certain items will decrease because that don’t do dailies will have to spend a greater sum of money to obtain them, thus creating a economic disadvantage among an identifiable group.
Yes, I know! I have decided, lets called this discrimination! :P
also 5s x # of people doing daily = ALOT of gold! x 7 days x 52 weeks x life of game = inflation machine.
@ Sky.7610
I added this after you posted i think its better if i post it here.
I for the life of me cant think of the name of the rule but its where there is something to be hard and any one can take it so every will take it there by destroying the thing in the first places and no one will have any more. That is a real life rule of the effect of ppl getting something and how it could effect others but this is a game. In the gaming world that something NEVER runs out so every one can take as much as they wish from it with out destroying the thing in the first places.
Now beyond that point its very odd that the community has falling into “do not add new things for me to do because i do not want to do them” mind set. This is a very bad mind set because it will destroy the progress of the game (not progression). This will stop all new story lines all new events all new fixes it will stop an mmorpg at its core of constant changes and add on.
See your talking more about inflation that just going to happen with out any add on. The only way to stop this would be to add in more gold sinks to the game (WP cost are not enofe alone to do this). The daily are nothing in comparison to other events when it comes to inflation problems. Worst one atm is CoF to what speed you can run it and the gold drop from the mobs (no DR) adds a lot into the system.
I believe your looking for the word scarcity?
Anyway, i think the solution is to offer a wide range of things to do that is as equal in reward as possible so people can do what they want to do and actually be rewarded fairly for it. This way, it would also negate the negative effect of rewarding players who do X and punishing people who dont do X.
Nope.
All that matters is being statistically up-to-date.
After that anything you want is flavor not necessity.
I am not statistically up-to-date and am not loosing any sleep over it, because I can get so when I feel to and money after that point is pointless.
Theoretically, you would not feel punished and be okay if Anet took everything away from you that is not gear, as long as your statistically up to date?
That’s like saying I’m being punished because other people can play more than me during the day.
Dailies can take 15 minutes to do, and, for me, they give direction. If you don’t want the reward or you don’t want to do the tasks, then don’t do them. You don’t really have any right to complain.
Playing more would naturally yield better rewards. Thats not the problem, the problem is being punished for playing the same amount but not in a way dictated by the game, although the game was suppose to be played how you wish it to be.
“How exactly am I punished? Economically. Everyone who completes the dailies gets some silvers + mystic coin + a Jar of karma accompanied by some experience.”
^You are not punished. You are just not rewarded. Huge difference. Why are you not rewarded? Because you didn’t do the event, and they did. Do you expect to gain when you dont even bother to log in now?
I dont do fractals so im punished by not getting free ascended gear? Hells NO
You are not going to get paid if you dont go to work.
I’m being punished because that free money, mystic coin, and karma you got from the daily makes my gold less valuable due to inflation, therefore I am being punished.
Getting ascended gear in fractal does not harm you and is only beneficial to the person wielding it and cause no harm to others.
Get a legendary.
Try to get maximum Fractal level.
Experience the world.
Try to become rich.
Meet new people.
Do guild missions.
Rage in PVP.
Rage in WvWvW.
Complaint on the forums.
Collect dyes.
Collect Minis.
Annoy people with Endless Bells.
Do the living story.
See? plenty to do
This game is suppose to be play how you want and I love that BUT i do not like the dailies because I don’t want to “slay 40 monsters at X” or “kill 10 enemes in WvW”. Granted, I am not forced to do them but I am certainly punish if I don’t and I think that’s quite unfair in a “play how you want” game.
How exactly am I punished? Economically. Everyone who completes the dailies gets some silvers + mystic coin + a Jar of karma accompanied by some experience.
I have no problem with the fact that players are being rewarded for playing in a certain way but I do have a problem when that reward directly punish people who don’t. What this means is that gold will be inflated(thanks to money and coin reward + karma conversion to gold) and thus, the people who completes dailies will NEGATIVELY impact others who don’t.
Experience and achievement points are okay because it directly reward the intended player but does not negatively impact others, unlike the monetary reward.
Thoughts?

Hi,
My account was again hacked this morning and pretty much everything stolen. This time, I believe I have found the source of my account compromise. Apparently, my old anti virus did not pick up a virus that most likely led to my account compromise. This is on my end and is therefore my fault.
I don’t expect Anet to restore my account but I submitted a ticket anyway to ask if they would consider to restore my account 1 more time, but is it possible that they will? It’s just very disheartening to see that everything that you worked for gone in a instant.
If any Anet employee wish to see the detail of my case, it is ticket #: 130317-001553
Thanks,
What about a no collateral interest loan? Of course, the amount should be small and could be loaned to multiple people. There should be interest, up to a capped amount, that will always stay on the person in debt until the loan is paid in full with interest. (eg; 20% of all income goes directly to paying the loan after X amount of grace period).
Plz never create a expansion. I like free updates. Also, if u do introduce expansion, plz make it so it can be purchased with gems. Only way I will ever buy it.
There are a lot of item ingame that have overabundance of supplies, to the point that the the rate in which supply is gain will exceed demand, thus price will virtually always be depressed.
Please introduce more ways to rid many of the items that simply that too much supply, which can never be exhausted nor will demand ever exceed supply without the intervention from Anet.
An example of this would be the extreme butter overabundance which Anet help solve by introducing a mystic forge recipe that greatly help remove excess supplies. In addition, more parameters need to be set in place so that demand will be closer to supply, creating an equilibrium.
There isn’t a dire need to update how the legendaries look, vanity items are not the priority for the updates.
if its not a priority then they shouldn’t have done anything to legendaries on Jan, because they created this unnecessary disproportionity among the quality of various legendaries.
So, we ALL know that legendary in its current state are unequal. There are MANY legendaries not up to par and neglected for the most part.
The patch of January, was a step in the right direction as some legendaries received a special effects which makes them stand out more.
World Polish – Other
Items
Visual effects on some legendary weapons have been polished:
Eternity: Fixed a bug that caused the Sunrise effects to play on the Twilight version of the sword.
The Moot: Added visual-effects polish and footfalls.
Kamohoali’i Kotaki: Added visual-effects polish.
Frenzy: Added visual-effects polish.
Kraitkin: Added visual-effects polish.
Quip: Added visual-effects polish and footfalls.
The Predator: Added visual-effects polish and footfalls; updated projectile and hit effects to match the weapon’s look.
Howler: Added visual-effects polish and footfalls.
The Dreamer: Updated the projectile effect.
But not all the legendaries that are in dire need of attention received this “buff” and I expected that they would roll this out in Feb as time ran out. Course, I was wrong and they didn’t, which further contribute to the problem of disproportionality among legendaries, a problem that existed for a LONG time.
