You’ll need to complete five full invasions (you don’t need to go through all the waves and win, you just have to participate on a map that has an invasion, when the timer ends you will get credit).
This is a bug where Vorpp is telling you to come back early >< we have a fix and will be pushing it out sometime soon. Sorry for the confusion.
THIS
You dont need to complete them, jut participate. Ive failed 2 now and it still counted towards my chieve.
You cant do it yet. Gotta do the achievements from vorpp before you can enter and fight her.
no. you can jump right in
lemme find one. hmmmm.
in this pic you can only see about 40 people, there are a lot more in front.
So I guess this is the first big livng story patch we have seen. I just got back from the massive event in fireheart rise. We had about 8 commander pins on the map, each with about 30 peopel easily on them. I have a pic of what is undoubtedly 80 people, and it runs so smooth. We acc failed the event. We had 30 secs left on it and 5 percent on the last wave. It was fun though. Thanx Anet this is a hundred times better than last shores. Its seriously impressive in terms of capability. All the different factions, the massive amounts of DE’s. This is exactly what I wanted to see happen with DE’s and the Living Story.
Stop asking guys. Just wait. Its only 2 weeks away.
I don’t know if im allowed to post here. But if you go on reddit. The top thread is by an account name called suspicious figure. And all they posted was the white mantle logo. Lol rather were getting trolled or anet is takin the LS really seriously.
I just noticed when I went to look but if you go to the page, it has some weird effects over queen jennah. Like her eyes are crossed out and there is drawing all over the page. Its weird lol. Is this anets way of hinting at us???
There will not be a one time event in the next release.
I dno if it was you, but I know there was a dev who hinted akittens return. So if its not now, I hope its in the near future, or at least the next couple months. If the technical issues behind OTE’s can be solved to a greater extent, it would be an enormous leap for the wvw. Imagine entire zones changed for days or even weeks, I mean changed drastically. More so than F&F changed. I mean a zone flipped upside down so its not recognizable. That would be seriously impressive for the Living Story and would contribute to the scale of the Living Story that you want to project.
Just be patient and listen to the suddle ques that anet has been playing on that something big is comin. Even the people who know the spoilers of the story say something big is going to happen. It wouldn’t be as special if they spoiled what was going to happen.
It might be a one-time event that doesnt span 4 hours but maybe several days. I think that would work well. Maybe an entire zone transformed into a warzone against the aetherblades/watchknights with instances included at certain sites.
I have a feeling that next update we will get another OTE, or something like it, where an entire zone is temporarily or permanently changed. It probably will be queensdale along with divinities reach. There have been numerous hints by the devs. It was a while back, maybe in BOFW, but one of the designers hinted strongly at the return of OTE not only because he really liked them but that we may see them in the near future. Other devs have said numerous times, look to the skies, just like Mai Trin did.
I have a pretty confident feeling that the Queen will give her speech, she will attempt or succeed at announcing something, but either way, partway through her speech the aetherblade crash the party, along perhaps with watchknights. I dont know if the watchknights are intrinsicly evil, but some things lead me to think they are, especially since the aetherblades have a strong technological emphasis on their faction. Plus they have strong ties to the steam creatures which I also think are their minions sorta like dragon minions. I believe they are like dragon minions mainly because of how the inquest is involved with the aetherblades and im also gonna steal the idea that they are from the future or alternate reality.
The watchknights malfunctioning at the queens ceremony wasnt randomly thrown in their by Anet. I bet it was intentional, and was an attempt to foreshadow near events. Perhaps the Watchknights are corrupted by the enemy and used against us.
In the .dat fail its already alot information. A guy on reddit is giving out info if you ask him. he sent me some and IF ITS TRUE, i got a bit dissapointed, but the surprise is… not expected
Well then he must not have shown all of it. Ive also seen it cuz I looked for myself. Lets agree not to spoil it. But also remember that there is always more that isnt in the .dat file than is in the .dat file.
I didnt think it sounded dissapointing, so don’t look towards the next patch in dismay if you are reading this comment.
I think her surprise will be huge… They wont spoil it, but probably a new zone or something. It says its huge
AFAIK Colin already said we won’t be getting any new dragons/zones in 2013.
And another dev also reiterated to look to the skies.
So it’s pretty obvious that Divinity’s Reach is going to be invaded by Aetherblades and some real nasty kitten is gonna go down.
He never said no new zones. He said it was HIGHLY POSSIBLE that crystal desert would come so.. But yea, he said no new BIG dragons. But what about the small ones
But in all seriousness… 2 things i believe.
1. Shes pregnant with logan
2. She will marry logan…ALL HAIL KING LOGAN!
HE DID SAY NO NEW ZONES!!! He said that like 3 times.
Before you start postulating about new zones or dragons, anet has confirmed multiple times that we won’t see new zones or dragons in 2013.
“Ten Days of Black Lion Sales: Each day for 10 consecutive days – starting Friday, Aug. 23, at 12:01 a.m. (PT) – players will be able to purchase items and weapon skins that had limited sales during the game’s first year from the Black Lion Trading Company.”
This wasnt included for some reason. But look forward to this..
Why so many negative comments?? They only add big new features once a month, and they already did that in the beginning of august. Plus, why would they spoil the queens speech surprise?
The end of culling!!! Doyou know what that means? It means the return of One-Time Events!!!! Expect one next patch or even the patch after. I don’t know what the queen’s speech will contain, but I suspect that party will be crashed by the aetherblades in a massive one time event.
I was reading through a lot of the posts you guys had, and Mr. Carver has been kind enough to respond and answer questions that you pose to him. However a lot of the replies are still uncalled for, whether its sarcasm or just a low blow at his qualifications.
I feel like this game would be really cool if zones werent instanced off from each other. I think this may be a reason why they decided not to have a balloon ride taking us to DR and having it just be a loading screen instead. Other than that I think it gives the world a more open world feel if nothing is instanced.
That wasnt smart of you in the first place. Each greatsword is what, 30 silver?? 1600 × 30 is 48000 silver or 480 gold. You should have stopped at 300 gold if you didnt get it yet. At that point, you should have waited until you had more money to just buy it.
So we know that during the next patch, exactly a week after it hits, there will the gw2 anniversary on that Wednesday. A recent interview with CJ on ign said that it will start the 20th tho, the day the patch hits, with tons of new stuff. One of the things he said is
“We’re going to do a release on the 20th that is intended to be our big anniversary release celebration,” he explained. “That release is intended not only to provide a lot of awesome content for people to experience, but to also set the tone for what they should expect for the living world and the types of things we want to do with events in the year to come.”
Im acc rather excited about this. The full article is on IGN.
He also said that there are 4 living story teams and each one has 4 months to create the content they are releasing for a certain month. 4 MONTHS!!! That is sooooooo long. So there is a team that started working in july that will release content in october…o.O
Oh darn. Yur right!!! In that case… “Queens Suck!!!”. With all their power and logan thackerays of course. I like Queen Scarlet though. If thats true, it could mean very disasterous things for tyria.

Here is the pic, and as you can see, the initials are EN. Also NextHero is included in there but I also thought I remember seeing that before on other page banners before they came out. So….EN…
Ellen something?
Evon something?
EPIC NAME!! lol What do you guys think it is? Apparently were supposed to see some interesting stuff next patch ;D As hinted at by colin and antoher dev recently.
I wonder if that mysterious figure is a mesmer or some other type of spellcaster race that can go invisible….cough cough mursaat….. BUT really. Count Anise seems to be in on this too. I wasnt getting a good vibe from her.
Queens Gauntlet is a fail in my eyes. Anet says all classes can kill every boss and do able with different builds. It’s been tested but its a flat out lie. If you are not a zerk for this you wont win. Any other builds other then zerk will run out of time and fall to your death. The final T3 boss is way 2 hard…I watched videos(showing mesmers only it seems) beating her and I do the exact same way, same skills and weapons, I still fail. Anet needs to take its time on these living stories instead of rushing to put them out in the game every 2 weeks. If they took the time, queens gauntlet prob would have been better instead of the skill lag, camera angle, super hard boss. I want that mini(i am collecting) but it looks like I will not be able to get this 1.
Thats not true. Ive pretty much seen every class be able to do the bosses, its just a matter of changing your builds. Ye, I dont know if one build can completely handle every boss. I acc doubt it. Thats not the same as saying a class cant do it. I spent 6 hours tinkering around with dif builds before I beat the last boss. Zerk is not a great build for this. For some fights it is because of the time, but you can adjust almost every class to something zerkish, and then switch back. Zerk is the worst for the last boss because of the low armor and endurance regen.

Im flabbergasted that the OP got so much attention. It just goes to show that getting a popular thread on the forums means posting unconstructive, insulting, criticism to the game, which is then responded to by hundreds who oppose or agree.
I really love them, they have a TON of great lore content in them, but honestly, I think anet should explore putting these in game in some sort of unique way. Not so its a mission, but just a storybook maybe, or an NPC being placed in the game who reads you the dialogue. One of the recent blogposts recently included a tale about Rox. I think it would be cool perhaps if an NPC, perhaps a friend of Rox, told the story to us.
I think if you implemented the blogposts in the game, it would please a ton of players because of how the lore was implemented. Maybe even in the future, if a character had some sort of past and a blog post was needed, for one time maybe you guys could create a side mission that had us use the fractals of the mists to go back to that point of time to visit them. Perhaps it was a tragic event or something that we needed to help out in.
I think back to F&F, and how in four months we got the amount of content we get in one month now. Imagine 2 week updates throughout 8 months. The F&F story wasnt bad, but it was the lack of content that failed to pull some people into the story. I hope arena net does another story arc like F&F with 2 week updates, it would be amazing. Because it would actually be clear what was going on. In F&F we had an idea of what was going on in that chapter of the story. Recently things have been more nebulous. The aetherblades continue to make appearances, we’re still looking to see who the foe is from F&F(I believe her name is scarlet). Is it the mysterious figure we met in the instance this patch? The sylvari?? It still fits the description!!! One who is snake-nosed and also a woman.
I digress. I can only imagine how great F&F could be now if we had the frequent content updates. We could get new missions to do with Braham and Rox every 2 weeks. Perhaps even a dungeon two months in that has new parts to it unlocked each two weeks until the end of F&F when we encountered the first boss. The Living Story still has so much potential, and im seriously excited for the next update two weeks from now. This is why…
CJohanson : “…..As I covered in my blog post last month, a major focus of our living world releases in the second half of the year will be on focusing our living world releases on content that has a larger sense of persistence, and more permanent effect on the world.
You’ll start seeing this strategy come into effect with the release 2 weeks from now, and grow as the year continues. The story of these living releases will occur long enough for it to play out reasonably and then update as the story moves forward, while the content and playable experiences (except specific story beats) will persist forever as a result of that story occurring….”
Ok one thing I will agree with is the centaur boss does massive aoe damage that is somewhat counter zerg.
The title serves as a thesis to this little script. I really like the crown pavilion, I have no idea why there has been so much hate thrown at it. First off, the queens gauntlet is quite nice, the fights at least. They have such cool mechanics, mechanics that are actually fun!!! I redo the fights just or mechanics sometimes because they are good training and again fun to do. My only criticsm is the floor shouldnt be transparent because it can be distracting and makes red rings difficult to see, and the camera. I probably failed a lot more than I should on the last boss because of the camera.
But my main beef is on the first floor, lvl zerg imo. I dont mind zergs, but please, you’re only making this entire 6 section arena more of a farming stereotype when you put absolutely no mechanics in any of the bosses!!!! Its literally just zergs running around, standing in one place to hit a boss for 4 minutes. Its awful. Truly awful. A lot of fights in this game suffer from this same problem, which is the problem of no mechanics or skill needed. Designers, please, why didnt you put interesting mechanics like in the queens gauntlet, on any of the legendary bosses! For a legendary boss, 1 mechanic is far from enough, way far. Id say three is about par.
Perhaps something like an alternating massive ranged/melee type of mechanic. For the first thirty seconds of the fight, the boss does massive ranged damage, so you have to stack on her and melee. Then after the 30 seconds has elapsed, show some type of warning buff, perhaps hinted at by a certain dialogue that lasts 3-5 seconds. Then during that time the players must switched to range damage to attack her. After that, the cycle would only continue.
Mechanics are what make fights fun, and nearly all of those bosses are lacking mechanics. Im pretty sure Anet got lazy on this and just decided to give them all massive damage when dynamic scaling hit 20 or so people.
RNG isnt bad when its implemented this way. I like fighting a champion thinking “oh cool I have a shot at this rare weapon”. I dont however like RNG when its like “ok so im spending 20 dollars on gems to buy some RNG boxes……1 minute later…..&%*^ I didnt get anything.”
Processor: Intel Core i7-3610CPU @2.30GHZ 2.30GHZ
Installated RAM: 16 gb
System Operating: 64 bit
I can run the system on high graphics, not ultra. Definitely not super sample or vertical sync.
I can run at about 20-40 frames per sec. In combat today in the zergs(including 30 some people) it has about 20-30 fps. Whch is surprisingly good. That was acc better than normal for me.
Heres a pic
I keep hearing A LOT about graphics issues, but only on reddit and the forums. From experience, ive tended to learn that people on these forums dont acc represent in game players. But really, I havent had a problem whatsoever with culling in pve, no framerate issue at all. I acc think its better for me. Less particle effects goin on made it easier. Along with that, I don’t see anyone in map chat having said they are experiencing issues(graphically) while zerging bosses. I don’t even have a great computer. Its ok and can run GW2 on high graphics(not ultra).
But really, is anyone else NOT having graphics issues?
read my thread.
I can confirm. I finally beat her. Ive been fighting her still since this post. I was so happy at the end I almost fainted. I had to go through 3 different builds, completely memorize spawn locations of clones and aoes. I had to memorize the exact move of everything I did, down to the exact second. I actually lost a lot of hope in the last two hours. It was alot of retraiting, and dying mindlessly in phase 1 because of exhaustion. I don’t know if having that mini pet is necessarily a good thing. It reminds me of the hell I had to face in that arena.
As a warrior who has played a zerker build for 10 months, and a tank build for 1 month. I can say the best way to go is this
1. Regeneration booster, armor booster, damage booster, and swiftness booster
2. I did all my trinkets(accesory, amulet, rings, backpiece) as rabid gear(toughness, prec, Condition Damage).
3. Traits were 30/30/10
4. Supeiror Rune of the krait FTW
5. Bow and Rifle. ESPECIALLY IN PHSE 2. this i what I did, the combo. I took out my bow, targeted her, used the 5th skill for 22 seconds of 6 stacks of bleeding, then switched to rifle immediately along with popping balanced stance so i could keep running without getting crippled, and shot her about 8 times for 14 stacks that woked well. Using this combo works excellently.
Overall, I think this fight is difficult as a warrior. I spent 4 of those 7 hours of the wrong build acc. But this is a fght that is also extremely easy to screw up. Even though I felt confident in everything, there were a lot of times where one wrong move, and I mean one move, screwed me up completely and lead me to my death. You’re gonna have to deal with failure a lot. Its gonna be a lot of swearing, and throwing stuff(a pillow in my case which woke up my dog). But you can do it.
I pretty much have figured out how you have to beat liadri as a warrior. First off you cant melee whatsoever, or else you get cripple, and 10 stacks of bleed, and lots of damage. You need an amazing ranged build with lots of condiiton damage and crit, but toughness and condition removal at the same time, of course with endurance regeneration.
Im seriously struggling on phase 2 of Liadri. I cant get her health down to more than 50 percent before im all of out endurance, abilities, etc. Its practically impossible to range her as well considering her clones block 75 percent of my ranged attack. Any advice???
Im pretty demoralized by this point and I cant find any warriors who have done it yet!!!
Im pretty much completely stuck on phase 2. I cant get her down quick enough. Im running zerker armor with all power toughtness vitality trinkets(accesory, amulet, rings, backpiece) with healing surge, endure pain, balance stance, for great justice, and signet of rage. My traits are 30/30/0/0/10 but i think im gonna redo it for 30/30/10/0/0 for the trait in defense that helps with cripple and immobility. I also have regeneration boosters, regeneration food, armor booster and damage booster. Any tips?? I got her to 50 percent in phase 2 once, and then died.
Lunaire shut up and stop acting like a rebel. Go check other threads. Its a recurring event. Like bazaar, which we already know iw coming back.
I too dont fully understand why Queens Gauntlet is temp. I mean hopefully it returns every few months if it is. It was compared to SAB and that hasnt returned since april. I kinda wish Queens Gauntlet was something they kept and the game and continued to build on.
However I felt the same way with Bazaar of the Four Winds. Now I dont. That zone needed to be temp. Its entire design is temp. And lets be honest, after a month of having that zone, barely anyone goes back just for the zone. They go back for the games you can play there.
Perhaps this is the reason why Queens Gauntlet is put in and pulled out. However I think for this to work, it should be re-implemented every 3 months or so, with new boss encounters and even completely new changes to the arena to keep things fresh. Tomorrow when queens gauntlet hits, people are gonna be playing for hours and even a few people will have exhausted he content within that one day. Within a month I expect it to be pretty empty. This is the problem that a lot of permanent content has in games though. Every dungeon, raid, or zone in games have this problem. At release, they are super exciting, and then after about a month everyone returns to the main city to go and wait for dungeon ques or in our case its play with box’s o fun around the mystic forge.
So in conclusion, perhaps a periodically returning Queens Gauntlet would be nice! It would continue to give a fresh feel, and a feel of excitement when you know its coming up again. Instead of leaving it in the game and have it dead after a month of gameplay.
lol. They definitely arnt doing that. A lot of people have been getting overhyped, throwing their wishes into the guild wars 2 anniversary. Im sure they will do something cool. But its not gonna be an expansion.
So after reading some of your responses I think Ive been able to agree with some.
First I have to re-evaluate my previous points, because all the instances I mentioned of fun, were pvp content. There is a reason for that. The experience when playing a content against other players can be different everytime, because they arn’t npcs and dont follow a script. So its easier to repeat WvW or Southsun Survival and find diversity.
Its obviously impossible at this point to have a piece of PVE content that is repeatable on that same scale. I certainly do think Anet is taking the right direction though in revamping the dungeons and world bosses. The first reason is that some of the fights are just boring. A lot of the fights in this game are just spank the fight types of bosses. Im sure they could throw in some interesting mechanics to really create diversity. The world boss fights especially. The jungle wurm, the shatterer, shadow behemoth, etc, all have extremely easy fights that require you to stand still and press 1. This is also true with some dungeons.
So they need to revamped for the lack of quality in some instances. But continuing to slightly polish or completely overhaul certain PVE content already in the game may be necessary as a continuation in the future. Simple to keep things fresh. The Living World is obviously a great tool to do this.
The main tool to drive PVE content in the end may be the Story though. They’ve made it pretty clear that we havent yet understood the full magnitude or theme of this current story arc. They have said several times it will become more clear as the year goes on, but the true villains and plot in play are still nebulous. Perhaps once we finally start learning these things, people really will gain interest, a strong interest in the lore, and play the content simply because they want to see whats going to happen next. Its all on them to write a compelling script though. They did with gw1 so we’ll see what happens this time.
Thanx. Im not saying there isnt fun content in this game. There is! Im just offering a different conceptual approach to making things more rewarding by making them more fun. The criticism will only be valid if they continue to go with this process of adding item rewards to content for incentive.
So recently if you frequently keep yourself updated with gw2, the reddit posts, the blog posts, the dev interviews, one thing you may notice lately is the comment from the devs about making everything more rewarding. Champion rewards inc and dungeon rewards inc. It seems a lot, and I MEAN A LOT, of stuff implemented in gw2 has been rewards for content to create an incentive. Weapon skins weapon skins weapon skins. Thats usually what they throw in to create incentive. That or crafting materials. etc.
There is a huge problem here. First I need to acknowledge thakittens great they are adding new rewards to champions and gold to dungeons, but I think philosophically ANET is on a very wrong route. Right now, it seems that anet is simply trying to make everything more rewarding in the game by adding certain items as obtainable as completion for this content. Like I said, a lot of MMO’s have followed this trail, but this is completely wrong!!!
The true reward that comes from content in game should be the fun you experience! If you have to put 1 gold at the end of most explorable paths, or boss fights, that should tell you that the content is not intrinsically fun. It will only temporarily satisfy the players, because once they have that skin, or gold, they have no reason to come back. However if the content is just very fun to do, then that will create an everlasting incentive to come back.
There are a couple pieces of content in the game that are like this. WvW and PvP. Mainly because each time you go back, the battle can be immensely different! Alongside that, fighting massive groups of players and defending towers is just fun. I dont care if I get gold, lose gold, get a skin or what. I just do it because its fun. PVE content in this game is lacking in its fun factor. But recently I did encounter two examples of pve content that I played just for fun! Those were southsun survival and aspect arena. I have played each for more than an hour at a time, and they are mini games!! Like with WvW, I play these because they are fun, and not because I need a reward. The reward I receive is the fun!
Conclusion?? Content, mainly pve, including the living story needs to be more entertaining to the players. Its about making a boss fight mechanics really interesting and challenging. Or developing a really compelling story to keep players coming back. Anet, and I point out Colin Johansson, paralleled the Living Story to the a tv show, to which you come back each week to update yourself on. But guys, creating all these meta achievements, gemstore items, and grind rewards as incentive for the Living Story is like paying people to watch your tv show because its too boring. Thats where the true problem lay. Anyway if you read all of this, I appreciate it.
Its called Southsun Cove, and Im pretty sure thats exactly what the devs intended it to be after the last living story left Southsun. We all know the zone is overpowered, and almost no purpose was seen by players for entering the zone. I still dont see much purpose, besides the somewhat difficult meta-event that requires about 20 people minimum to do. The fact that the meta-event is the zone, and that it requires 20 people at least to complete, only for a minimum of 2 rares and a chest, pretty much tells me, and should tell you, thakittens an open world raid. The event takes 20 minutes at minimum, if you are quick.
However I feel like Southsun Cove is dead in its activity for still two reasons.
1. The devs barely made clear what the purpose of swarming overpowered mobs into southsun cove was. It seemed like a back pedal.
2. More recently people farm it as an meta-event/raid though. The only problem is thakittens certainly not rewarding enough for two rares. People will only come if the queen is summoned. They dont wanna work at taking the camps. There needs to vendor that spawns afterwards, that holds special recipes, crafting mats, or even settler gear.
I actually was rather happy when I realized Southsun Cove is the equivalent of a raid. I like the concept of an entire map being a meta-event. However it still has a lot of problems, like an incentive to do such a long event. The devs should continue to update Southsun Cove like other parts of the world using the living story.

Some interesting stuff there guys.
You guys need to stop speculating so much about this thing. Its really not what you think it will be. You’re gonna get all kitten if you think its gonna be housing, canthan related, or dragon related.
Siphaed yur on my friends list lol didnt even realize that. The sky pirates and dragon bash was good, but what I mean is more along the lines of 1 main and 2-3 subliving stories playing out. Seeing other factions get involved in their own zones. It will be nice to get back to southsun cove though, kinda, that zone is pretty dead right now I was just there today. Me and my friend and like 2 others. I cant wait into any camp besides pearl islet. I think southsun should continually progress with each update, perhaps with small events occuring there, or even a mission or two added.
So I was curios, will there ever be a time in gw2, where we see multiple living story’s playing out? Perhaps there is one zone, where the core of the current living story is focused, but then there are many peripheral stories playing on throughout the world. That could be pretty cool. And also, will we start to see zones evolve more, the way Orr does, in the future? Im sure you guys have noticed the haggard nature of the Orr mobs over the months. I think if they could do that with southsun cove as well, and maybe use it to slowly quiet the unrealistic fury consuming the wildlife there, it would be a nice touch to see as well. Perhaps people would actually feel comfortable stepping into the zone without getting zerged by enraged karka.
