Necros are natural counters to anything melee. Well of darkness+chilling darkness, well of corruption, corrosive poison cloud, and plague!! Your spam spam spam can and will outdo their cleanse cleanse cleanse.

Again, the only thing about wells is that they dont last long and are stationary. You’re lucky if 2 pulses of blindness hit their melee. Plague is good though. What seems to work well is to run 1 plague and just hide the melee inside the plague while the necro spams blind. and You’ll be able to go melee to melee really easy. It reduces yur incoming damage from melee by about half.

Just realized you’re from CD, so there are definitely things you can do to fight those guilds. I can’t think of a single guild in those tiers that can run numbers like that without uplevels or at least a handful of awful players. Just don’t try to be heroes and take the melee head on. Peel the apple..aim for the middle of their group, push to the back line, focus your dps on spots where you can cc them, don’t pointlessly stand in their dps, and keep moving.

If you are doing all that and still having problems, you have issues with your builds. Make sure you have enough sustain (boons, cleansing, blast finishers+waters, or in-combat heals), and enough damage. If you’re taking on bigger groups, you have to take them out chunk by chunk, and you can’t do that with wet noodle builds.

Well a lot of times its 15 of my guys on average with 15 pugs, and this week we may fight a guild of 25 plus pugs. Having pugs run with us actually makes things worse because of the rallybotting. The guilds we end up fighting arnt that bad, they do run really heavy melee trains though. Fighting VOID ended up being hard with their 35 man zerg, with probably 75% melee. Our ranged kept alt tabbing through their melee group and just consistently found guardians. Null fields and wells of corruption are nice to in reality are a lot harder to land then though since they are stationary fields when the melee ball is completely moving. Even if we try to land a CC, stability is one of the last boons to be removed after regen, swiftness, might, so theyd have to be pretty kittened to sit in that field. We ended up running more ele’s which has helped a lot though to counter big melee. Im honestly not a big fan of running 4-5 staff eles, since its almost a cheap tactic in zerg busting, but ill be sure to use them in these future situations.

We can focus chill/cripple/immobilize pretty well. Its just getting in the dps that is difficult. Blindness is probably the way to go tho. Rangers have some of the best control conditions int he game, barrage/traps/entangle.

one thing we have tried when were stuck on a wall is rotating plague forms on each push which helps us get past most the train. but it only last so long.

I run a 15-20 man skill group with about 9-13 heavies depending on the group size with the rest ranged. We usually dont have much trouble wiping groups that are 30-40 man sized grouped, especially pugs. The only thing we have had trouble with lately is countering 30-40 man groups that run 20-30 melee. Specific guilds actually that just run enormous melee together. It seems impossible to counter as by the 3rd or 4th push we’ve only wiped out 10 people in their zerg while their entire melee train is still alive. Theres no way in hell we can push into the melee train with our melee, as we all get melted instantly. Slowing down the melee train with cripple and chill does work for a bit and gives us time to do other things but its still not enough. 20-30 melee, especially guardians, have an enormous amount of healing and dps, and health.

Skill group tactics: the leap

I have a question posed to other 15-25 man skill groups out there regarding the first attack of when one group hits another. Its pretty typical to see warriors/greatsword guards leap into the zerg on the first push, especially the commander. However the only problem ive ever had with this is that the leap is about 600 and whenever doing so it creates a separation between the melee who leaped the people still stuck behind, quite a noticeable separation actually. How do other groups counter this? half or 1/3 of my guardians run greatsword because of the leap but mainly because of the pulls, the others run hammer which has great dps but a smaller leap. What tends to happen is the great behind gets caught in that one second where we are separated. Any ideas?

Crystal Desert is currently low on hardcore raiding guilds, very low, and VOW is seeking to recruit more hardcore wvw folk from CD or other servers to join us in our journey towards ascension. We have been raiding for 3 months, have 50 people in our guild, raid 4-5 times a week, for 3 hours at a time. We specifically seek necros/guardians/eles. However, thiefs and engis would also be a nice addition. We are plenty on mesmers and warriors and rangers. Build coordination will also be required so be prepared. We have done several GvG’s but only against our friends MU on HOD. Our raid size currently tends to be 15-20 but we would like to see this number hit 30 at some point. Teamspeak will also be required and a microphone is also appreciated. We tend to take on numbers 2-3 times our size so be prepared for a load of bags or a load of wipes depending on who we fight. As the leader of VOW, in my mind there surely is no zerg that I will not attempt to take on, even if it risks us wiping many times. Feel free to whisper me in game or message me through mail any time of the day.

Ive been running with an organized wvw guild for the past 3 months, and what all good guilds realize is the strong team element that must be felt by all the players running in the group. The need to coordinate builds and play your part to form essentially one giant player in a way to smash down zergs and other guilds.

However, in playing as a team its more than just coordinating builds to play specific parts, its coordinating skills. I think the distinct lack of the trinity in this game has lessened the teamwork that could be had. The only replacement ive seen for the trinity are combo fields/finishers. And how players must coordinate to achieve the goal of heals or might. Does anyone know if Anet has plans to expand on the Combo type of idea? It works really great I think and its surprisingly unknown to still a lot of players, unfortunately, especially considering how powerful it is. I think especially as a dedicated pvper that to increase the teamplay in wvw/spvp, there needs to be a large expansion on Combo area of the game. It already works really well but I feel that the waterfied blast, firefield blast has gotten quite stale over the past year that its been used.

Gvg play has remained largely the same because of the lack of diversity that has been added to the pvp section of the game. Any ideas on what could be done to increase the diversity in play? Perhaps more skill types could be created that merge with each other when players use them together. Like certain shouts from different classes coordinate together.

We are newly formed but not new to wvw. We are currently 50 man strong based on Crystal Desert and currently are short on numbers for raids every night. We seek to soon be raiding every night but require another 20 players to rotate groups throughout the week. We typically run 15 man groups, 20 at most, 10 towards the end of the night when most get off. We currently seek guardians, necro and elementalists. Our raiding times begin at reset and last about 2 hours on average, 3.5 at most. We will eventually start gvg’s but not until we have a larger roster to choose from. Mail me in game if you are interested.

Me and my friends just made a new guild after our other fully upgraded guild got sabotaged along with anet doing nothing about it. Anyway, with this new guild, we reached the player cap of 50 people, im the leader, everything is going good. I go to expand the amount of people in the guild at the guild registrar and it says I have no permissions. IM THE LEADER! CYRI DONT U DARE TELL ME I DONT HAVE THE PERMISSIONS. I decided to rank up someone else to see if they could expand it, I gave them all the permissions, they go to the guild registrar, and it says the same thing as well. We also both bought influence for the guild, 20 golds worth, and it didn’t show up in the guild. The little animation showed up when you buy influence, but it doesnt show it in the guild influence wallet or the guild log. Whats going on?!?

Some seriously insane fights going on in Eternal Bl tonight. This is VOW, newly formed guild by EA members. We had a lot of fun running around with our guild and some puggies when we encountered HoD FKB and BP’s 50-60 man blob of Lost/EE/Puggies. So much slowed down framerate though. Hopefully someone recorded those fights it was pretty cool. Blobs like reset night were going on in ebg tonight.

Hey this is cd here, from the ea guild. Nice fights so far, the weekends usually the best tho, its been a lot of gvg’s for the most part like always. Hopefully CD can keep the moment goin for the rest of the week. Was curious if any guilds would like to gvg, so far EA has encounted mesi, mend, zos, and os. Os was probably the toughest one we fought so far. We’ve never gvg’ed but would be really interested in it. We don’t have a ton of players though, so it would probably be a 15v15 if anyone would be up for that.

I like BP’s tactics… let us have everything while every person in your server holes up inside the keep with an AC.
And those 25 points we didn’t get for the tick could be crucial!

Most epic fight ever in cd bl garrison. Just wave after wave. Good job cd, like 30 of us but still, best fight i think ive ever had in the game. Better than any smc fight. Its been like 1.5 hours of waves now.

I just saw the new gauntlets and shoulderpads in the gemstore. If it was a full armor set I wouldn’t really object to it being there, but just for two pieces they should have made this obtainable in game through the living story. I think its pretty lazy of them just to incorporate these cool items into the game only to have them put in the gemstore. The essence of the item you are obtaining is only much more special if its obtained in a unique way, like through an achievement, or specific task in the living story. Anet has not done this much lately in my opinion. Its something they should look more into. I think if for once they made an armor set obtainable through the living world, but only through an arduous but exciting series of events, then that would be a nice addition.

Nothing has really changed. Even cosmetic differences to the Mad Kings Labryinth would have been nice. To be honest, I really really liked the way living story/holiday events used to be back in october/november. How certain parts were rolled out piece to piece in a schedule. I remember the halloween meter slowly growing until the mad king burst out of the Lions statue. I dno if they have any more plans for halloween since it lasts a month, maybe they do who knows. We still haven’t done the missions yet where you go to fight the bloody prince.

They did add new bosses I guess to the labyrinth, but as far as I can tell, they suffer from the same problem that most bosses anet puts in the game do. They are punching bags for zergs. The only difference is that these hit super super hard sometimes, and knock out 10 people at once, but thats not really a mechanic. Anet still needs to improve on the mechanics they throw in for bosses.

I was the commander there and we barely had anyone to be honest. i was there 3 hours today and just got off and the most we had was probably 40 at one time during about 30 minutes, then it went down to 25.

I actually thought the bosses had very little health. Both sparki/slick and the clockheart. The difficult part was kiting the ooze into the oil and kiting the clockheart to the next hologram. If you get that part down. You’ll be fine.

The ooze took me and my group about 25 mins to figure out. A lot of the guides ive seen are pretty bad. They get one thing right though, you split up. Technically you only need 4 people. 2 ooze kiters and 2 ele kiters. The ooze kiters sit outside the door and wait for the ele kiters to pull all the eles back to the gears. Should be about 3-4 eles for each side. Then the ooze kiters walk in, and kite the ooze all the way to the gear while the ele kiters dps them at the gears. The ooze kiters will receive pretty much no resistance from the elementals since they are at the end by the gear. By the time the ooze get to the end. All 4 ele’s on each side will be nearly dead and you can kill them and then finish off on bringing the ooze.

I think it would be kinda cool to see a rare spawn of teq, sometime during the day, maybe once a day, where he’s really kitten ed off. Maybe he hits harder, same health but less time(10 minutes), the turrets can’t be rebuilt, and the battery health never regens on each laser phase. That would be pretty insane I think, especially since I know some experienced groups could pull it off. However the rewards would have to be like 1 guaranteed exotic and 4 gold.

At first, day one, tuesday, after 5 hours of attempts I was pretty unsure my server would ever get teq, and that his difficulty is glitched, along with the fact that my server just didnt have the cooperation. It wasn’t until thursday that my server really banded together with over 100 people in ts, organizing with guilds. Not only is the teq fight the most epic dynamic event in the game, right alongside scarlet, but simply putting all the effort into it really brought my community together. This is raid level difficulty type stuff. The amount of organization and time that had to be put into this was exactly what the elite players of gw2 wanted. The only thing is that teq should have a much longer timer that we also know of.

The rarity would make the event much more special, and make it seem like less of a farmfest. However, if they do that, they need to allow more people into the map. Give him a 3 hour timer in this case. There also needs to be expanded in game organization if this is going to happen without ts. Add the alliance system like gw1!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE!!! Add expanded commander functionality, so that all people in the commanders squad can see each other, like a party can. This would help immensely on the battery phase.

Besides the tweaks anet needs to make, they should not stop adding this level of difficulty. Its unfortunate we’ll never have instanced content of this difficulty with more than 5 people. Perhaps they will change their mind in the future but I don’t know. I do know that I want more of this difficulty though. Perhaps all the dragon champions get changed, but if they do that only means their timers need to be longer so they don’t spawn all at the same time. ALSO! Make it so people who guest can’t participate in these fights. Its terribly annoying to have people on my server who are in ts, unable to make it. I know they coulda been replaced by other members of my server but id rather have that then guesters.

We were able to get teq down to 75% with 8:50 remaining, which is our best time. However we need to be able to burn teq in laser phase better, actually. We want to get him to the next laser phase in each burn phase. If we could learn to do that, we could kill teq with 6 minutes left I bet. Any advice from servers who can push teq to laser phase immediately after burn?

I know, but most of the people on my server who seek to attempt teq have been there and are committed, usually in teamspeak, who cant get in. And if they are replaced by people who are from another server and not in ts, then were screwed.

Its extremely annoying, and I think its bad for every server honestly. For 2 reasons.
1. It keeps people who actually are on the server from being able to participate.
2. It ruins server pride. There is nothing special or impressive about having another server do your chores, and get carried. Its silly, and it ruins the ability of a community to band together after much organization and defeat teq. Simply put, it builds community, it did so to mine.

The main reason is still the first reason. My server already has guesters and it kitten es me off because there are a ton of people still on my server, experienced, who havent done teq because they weren’t present. Instead, they are replaced by guesters who want to get carried. And then what happens???? They screw us up!

Nice job! I believe you had someone from your server asking for BG to help in another post. Looks like you were able to get organized and get it done. Did you guys use 1 group or 2 for dps?

one guy suggesting spamming frost bows in the beginning so everyone had one. i think it shaved off about 30 secs which was nice. besides that we used 1 group and stacked on the left. we had like 120 people in ts. was pretty awesome. only cd players xD

Id say it was better than a good attempt i mean even BG and deso were at 7:10 and 6:10 when they hit 75%. JQ took a risky strategy with full melee though i’ll tell ya that.

I was there. It was pretty insane, but they still failed. The most cringe-worthy thing ive ever seen as well. Everyone died at the last second. Probaly 1/4th of a percent as well.

Raid Wiper: Tequatl's Reach?

Does anyone know what causes this ability? Is it a finger? its not poison pools. Its doing 1.6k damage per second to my pvt/sentinel build, and i cant figure out hot to avoid it. Anyone know? Its pretty much the one ability thats responsible for almost every wipe that every server has had. Im convinced at least. Because it does masssssive damage.

Last 3 runs tonight on Crystal Desert.

Third one was a rough start but we made up for it and caught up to about our previous best.

hey its me laks. Ye CD has really improved today. In one day, we’ve gone from getting teq to 75% with 1 minute left, to 75% with 4:20 left. Players have improved a lot and id say by tomorrow and friday we’ll have killed him. We had 2 attemps, the last 2, where im sure we could have gotten teq, but we had some flubs. The first of the 2 was when we got him down to 75% with 4:20 left, and even did so with some msising dps, meaning theoretically we coulda gotten 5:00. We did well on phase 2 and burn phase but going back to phase 1 we had trouble. Lots of poison, had trouble reorganizing, and had about 30 people fall into a whirlpool twice, with bonewalls. So again we ended up at 50 % coming from 59%. The second time around we had a really rough start and completely wiped once during the fight in phase 1. Both of the 2 attempts had a full map with +80 people in TS. The fight has really brought the community together and im really liking the way its goin so far. Right now we need to improve on cleanses from the turrets, a team for the fingers, along with better placement so were not so out of range of teq. If we can do that we should have teq down in no time.

If were going to have content that is this difficult and requires over 100 people, were gonna need coordiation obv. And coordinating through map chat during the fight is obviously difficult when we cant worry about typing/reading at the same time were fighting a boss. TS is pretty much required at this point, completely. If some group of pugs is just screwing around were gonna do bad, and I like hard content a lot but this content is not for kittens or casuals who think this is there normal WB.

If we had an ingame voice chat that we could join into, that can host over 100 people, that would be amazing. It would be a hell of a lot easier to get everyone into one channel that way, instead of begging people to download TS and get into our channel.

Hopefully anet can fix this, but there have been several times now where teq hasn’t committed to his 1.5 hour timer and has come back 50 mins after he dies instead of 1.5 hours. Due to this, we have had many failed attempts mainly because everyone who was there before is gone. Usually we regroup at about 30 minute sbefore the boss starts.

p.s. CD pushed teq to 59% at best.
