Id say thaumanova is more than just dragon lore, I just included that because the inquest are known for that. The main curiosity that should be had with thaumanova is that is was a world changing event, an npc says “the fabric of the world turned inside out”. We still have a good probability at seeing the gods in the future compared to learning about this.
Plus, another pro of choosing kiel or gnashblade is the waypoint cost. That will affect EVERYONE. I doubt gnashblade will cut the cost of lion keys that much, people will still have to pay gems, which not everyone will do.

So its no secret that Gnashblade, because of the Abaddon fractal, has an edge in the election. However, every argument provided for Gnashblades election has been “BUT, BUT, WE GET TO SEE A GOD!!!”. Its very simple minded.

Let me ask you one question. If in a way, you could have both fractals, would you?? Learn about the mysteries of Thaumanova(AND DONT SAY ITS JUST THE INQUEST, THERE IS OBVIOUSLY MORE TO THAT), and witness the magnificence of a God, would you? Because perhaps we can, by simply playing the probability game.

Think about it. The human gods play a crucial role in the development of tyria, the lore of tyria, the very lore of gw2!!! It was all in gw1. And I suspect that even beyond the abaddon fractal, we will see them again. For two reaons. One I already specified; They were(perhaps still are) very important to the world of tyria. A lot of our skills are based upon them. But why does this suggest they will be in gw2?? This is reason 2; Which is that we all know the Elder Dragons appear as the current foe in gw2, howevever!! there is much evidence to suggest that the Elder Dragons are connected to the Gods, which suggests even more that they could appear in gw2.

Ok so we’ve already established an argument for why they could appear again. Now lets observe the two outcomes of the elections.
1. Receive the Abaddon fractal, and have a low probability of ever learning about the events at the Thaumanova reactor again(A world changing event!! That deals with the inquest who also are related to studies in the elder dragons!)
2. Or, choose Kiel, for the Thaumanova fractal, and have a high probability of encountering the Gods in the future.

Who cares about explosions and Asura problems, stuff explodes one after the other, it’s nothing new in the Asura society, just wait and a new one will occur soon enough again.

Many centuries have passed since Abaddon was defeated. We must go back to the past to see what truly happend, there might be clues about the gods disappearing as well! And if it is the very first fall of Abaddon, we might be able to ask the other gods themselves about the Elder Dragons!

The title says it all. At first, I was an Evon Supporter. I mean who wouldn’t be. Research into the Fall of Abaddon, and incident involving the human GODS!! For the first time in GW2 we would stand in their presence. But then a friend took me to the side and said “Evon is a dirty char”, and then I realized he’s right. Jk, but what he really emphasized is that we already know much lore about the timeframe taking place during the fall of Abaddon, but very little about the disaster at the Thaumanova reactor.
So now let’s examine both choices.
1. We choose Evon for the FOA, but only because we expect a very cinematic fractal.
2. We choose Kield, because of our lack of knowledge about the events at the Thaumanova reactor.
I don’t know about you but im rather interested in an event which supposedly affected the entire world, changing the fabric of reality itself, perhaps even the mists.

Has anyone else had this problem? Its kinda kitten ing me off because we have to go to extra effort to do them twice sometimes.

Too Much Temporary Content Can Only Harm GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SkylightMoon.1980

SkylightMoon.1980

This isn’t exactly true. I definitely know players who don’t care about the story going on, simply the features that have been cemented into the game through the living story. I see what you mean though, and yes, a new player will feel somewhat lost, so Arena net needs to implement better beginner guides into the game, that will help with become familiar with all facets of the game. This was one criticism some people made in the very beginning of the game. The only difficulty with this is that they will need to continue to update this system as new features and what not are added.

But this must also apply to the story. There does need to be a system placed into the game, one with much effort, that can adequately detail the past of the game, what has happened so far. I think implementing these living story dungeons into fractals is a great idea. But mainly because it doesn’t make much sense at all to keep them around as the world progresses. It seems very akward to have this one dungeon, frozen in time, as the rest of the living world progresses.

So after defeating all my fellow npc contenders in belchers bluff, I realized that the game is only sorta a permanent pvp game. Because the vendor sells game uses, which are temporary, and a permanent one which is 100g wow!!!! lol. Really? The vendor is in Labyrinthine cliffs which is temporary supposedly(unfortunately). So that means after its gone in a month only the pvp game will be permanent to those who had the money to buy it? That sounds unfair. However maybe Anet will put the vendors outside of Labyrinthine cliffs afterwards?? I don’t know. A confirmation on this would be nice.

SkylightMoon.1980

So apparently there should be one soon, I dno when, from what I heard its this week maybe? Or next week. What plans do you think they will lay out in the video? In their first annual blogpost, back in january, they basically explained that they wished to lay the foundations for the game a little better, improving on current features. I think they still have areas they can do it, but overall the core features are better than they were at launch. In terms of NEW features, Id expect to see more, I don’t know about the raiding type content being released in the next 6 months, although it would be pretty awesome if they did. I know the Living Story will continue up until December, then after that, I dont know. Perhaps this entire trail of Living Story content is meant to lead up to a dragon? Not the Actual fight with the dragon, or even the content release of it, but simply the preamble(12 month preamble) to a big dragon content release.

Raids and housing coming to GW2!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SkylightMoon.1980

SkylightMoon.1980

Despite my dislike for the idea of raids, and my extreme like for the idea of housing… it’s the housing that makes me doubt this guy’s story is true.

Many AAA MMOs since WoW have refused to add housing because of a fear that players will abandon the major cities and just chill out in their houses. I can’t say they are entirely wrong, since I would probably do exactly that. So for me, I have a hard time believing Anet would add housing, since some players already complain that cities other than DR and LA are rather hurting for people, even on big servers.

I would love it if that was true, but I have a sneaking suspicion we’re going to see a red post saying “nope” soon.

No anet has confirmed player housing and guild halls will come eventually, they did that way back in the beginning of the game. GW1 had it. The guy didnt even give an ETA so lets not get everyone too excited yet.

So now we learn about the upcoming Aetherblade patch, and all the content sounds great. It sounds like a lot of content too. Except now that I come to understand more about the lore behind the Aetherblades, im pretty confused about what they are trying to do with the living story. Is the content they want to put in the game directing the living story? or vice versa? Especially when we try to tie together F&F, Southsun Cove, and this Aetherblade patch. One thing I do know is that the Living Story was written back in January I believe, and is a 12 month cycle. So perhaps by December we will finally know. Anyway what do you guys think.

To my knowledge, which can be summarized as reading 80% of the posts on here, there is pretty much nothing that can satisfy this community. Literally something always has to cause conflict and several rage posts. To add to that, most of the forum posts that do offer criticism, don’t offer it constructively. There is a lot of “This is the last straw Anet”, or “Does Anet even care about their players?” on this forum. We get patches every month! And in the last 2 months, its been twice a month, which is absolutely insane for a game. Obviously its a continual learning process, but I don’t think most of you actually take the time to appreciate the immense work Anet puts into the game, part of which is going on the forums listening to you guys make lousy complaints.

I don’t think there will be RNG, and yes there will be more permanent content. A new jumping puzzle that gives an exo rewards. Plus the scavenger hunt is permanent. They never mentioned RNG boxes, or at least ones youd have to buy in the gem store. They did however mention rewards that can be received by tracking down aetherblade cache’s, which I believe! have a photo on the update page. You receive rewards from them. So its like treasure hunting. Plus it talks about salvageable items from the dungeon for rewards and a new infinite tonic. I have a feeling this dungeon will be on the same level as F&F which would be awesome!!!! Its sad to see its not permanent though.

So a while back, not long ago, not even a month, I posted about a request for a new musical instrument. AND A NEW ONE CAME!!! I don’t think that was a direct answer to my request, im sure they already had it planned, but who cares its so cool. The animation could be better, like maybe he could just stand in a nice posture and blow in the horn, cuz it is kinda goofy how he bends down like that, especially when u switch between multiple notes. But besides that, with choir bells and marriners horns, why do we not have a band or choir? looool. These types of things are great for RPGer’s

So I questioned whether or not I should post this, because it may be a glitch. But southsun crates still do drop, and I wish them to still drop, but I wanted to post this because I didn’t know whether they are gonna be permanent or not and then if not well people may not know and still go around trying to farm them. So this is all with respect to their time. HOPEFULLY THOUGH!!! They are still permanent, they need to be! I think this is the best thing for Anet to do after the sclerite weapon ticket had such a low rate. It also makes the tickets somewhat worth it. If they always include a way to get the tickets that doesnt require buying them with gems, I will be ok with RNG boxes. However they obviously make it low so that compensates.

Revisiting Southsun after SOS...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SkylightMoon.1980

SkylightMoon.1980

So I returned to the game after bein gone for about a week or so, just to visit the festival, along with visit southsun cove. And I have to say im still somewhat confused about the direction Anet took with Southsun. I mean now its basically an enraged wildlife fest at every single camp and its depressing to see because now the island is even more impossible to navigate than previously. I did say I wanted a meta event though, and I got one so thats nice, even though its nearly impossible to do without some +30 people on the island. It was so dead when I was there today though.

IMO, the way it should have been is that there is a meta event but only one that activate periodically, a 5-6 times a day, and isnt as infested. Because then they could have added more life to each of the camps, maybe even some heart tasks would have been nice. Its just that the zone is still very unique in the game because of its bizarre history. It still seems somewhat of a placeholder in space and a memory for a lot of us. I did like SOS but now…

Hate to be the debbie-downer, but it looks like yet again more lousy cash for chest and horrible RNG for new skins. I just don’t understand why they keep repeating this method for obtaining new skins. Especially so dang soon on the heels of the Southsun Crates! Is this the way it is always going to be???

Did you read the thread? The coffers are obtainable through dragon events! You don’t even have to spend money to have a chance at getting a ticket. Calm down.

Guild Missions and Hardcore Progression

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SkylightMoon.1980

So right now im about 2 weeks away from completing unlocking everything. It will be about June 18th or 19th. Looking back to feb, when these things first came out, I was thinking wow this will take forever with the build times and the merits needed. Well I was right, but it was fun. It was fun to look forward to the next week or next few weeks when we unlock something new, that is also rewarding. Even the massive, rich guilds took months to unlock everything in Guild Missions.

This type of content is great and I think satisfies the “raid” aspect of GW2, to an extent. Certainly guild challenges like the Ogres in Fields of Ruin or the Challenge in Blazeridge Steppes, where 30 people are participating, reminds me of raid like activity. Hopefully in the coming months, perhaps more like a year, we will EVENTUALLY see more content on the same level of progression and difficulty or higher(hopefully) than guild missions. However it should be solo type content. Not everyone likes partying up with a guild. Raids still sound like a good idea, I know there is a thread on that, but GW2 is very innovative and I think they could do something different that satisfies the same flavor palate.

Vote with your wallet.

The worst part is that money spent on gems goes to NCsoft and not to Anet.

Why do people keep saying this? Anet is not an independent company it’s entirely owned by NCsoft and has been since the release of Guild Wars 1.

First, there’s zero evidence that the money goes DIRECTLY to NCsoft. But of course the money goes to NCsoft, since they own Anet. This is totally illogical.

Let’s say I own three businesses. All the money from all those businesses are mine. I pay my employees in all three businesses, I pay for rent, and all that stuff out of what the business makes, but at the end of the day the business profit’s are mine. This is reality.

The same was true for Guild Wars 1. Anet was owned by NCsoft, so Anet’s profit IS NCsoft’s profit and always has been.

I might get competent even good guys to run my businesses for me, and I’ll pay them higher wages accordingly, but at the end of the day the business is mine.

Its because Dontain had to make a video whining about it. The video got really really popular, and everyones like “Hes right!! All those greedy publisher corporations stealing anets money! So much corruption.” The truth is, Dontain probably doesnt even know what hes talking about. He based an entire rant on a few comments made by NCSoft.

Yes. The Meta event and Karka Queen world boss will be a permanent event added to Southsun, and it’s drop will be permanent as well.

One of the core problems of the island was the lack of events. I’;d hoped to solve that by adding an island wide Meta event and a world boss.
However it is NOT out until next week. We’re actively working on modifying our patch notes.

Well thats really great to hear, I also agree. For awhile there has been a lack of event chain on the island. Its nice to see this coming!!! Should bring liveliness to the zone after the living story there ends.

Talking GW2 expansion (long overdue)

in Community Creations

Posted by: SkylightMoon.1980

SkylightMoon.1980

Dontain is losing it a little bit and its because he is a player who needs hardcore content to survive. I understand his pain because I feel it too, its not like I don’t want raid-level(not raid type) content in this game that is rewarding to its difficulty. I just don’t see Anet doing it anytime soon. I do also get kitten off at the continuous RNG boxes but at least this patch Anet offered us a new way to obtain them through farming which is somewhat generous. I question the relationship between Anet and NCSoft. Because of their recent statement about an expansion, and Anet even more distant statement about no interest in an expansion, it seems the too have a disagreement. However its the way NCSoft expresses their statement, its as if they took no consideration for the desire of the Dev’s at Anet.
