About shortbow… be careful. Other classes have it much worse. Spamming it twice for instance alone is a luxury. Every other class in the entire game is limited by cooldowns. They get to use their escape exactly one time

Then on top of that thieves regenerate initiative fairly quickly (especially given certain traits). Untraited a thief can spam bow tele twice, and then a little more than 8 seconds later do it again.

A necro (the class I am most familiar with for this comparison) has swiftness on a 30 second cooldown and a teleport on a heinous 40 second cooldown.

Compared to any other class in the game, thief skills are eminently spammable.

^That

On my thief i can choose to be permanently on short CD or use a long CD whenever i wish. Now guess why thiefs are constantly spamming 1 skill !

Unless they build for backstab but they get a 1 shot in return and they still are capable of spamming high dmg low initiative skills.

I stopped playing my thief because it became boring fast but with the amount of thiefs i see in tournies i am considering dusting it off just for those.

So Anet does the same blunder every other game with a stealth class does? They are “squishy” but can basically kill you in one or two hits. Why oh why did they not learn from the past?

They cannot kill you in a few hits if you stack armor.
Read my post above.

o please stop being so naft. So what you are suggesting is that everyone gives up their DPS in order to balance out the thief as a class.

Thief’s either spam 1 key 3 times or one shot.
Non glass canon thief’s need to spam 1 key 2 or 3 times (any other class capable of this is still considered a glass canon , go figure)

They work on a system completely different from all the other classes in the game
There is the problem right there

[qoute]You do realize how easy it is to avoid treb damage right? There’s literally no excuse unless you’re out of endurance (in which case you should trait for vigor or sigil for endurance). Every time they fire you get a verbal warning telling you. Save your dodges for the trebs and you’re fine. really. [/quote]

^theory pvp^

yup im holding the point keeping 2 or others from taking it hoping to hold out until backup arrives. I am attacking, watching their attacks and dodging their attack Plus i only need to pay attention to the sky after the verbal warning in the mids of this so can dodge meteors aswell IF i can still dodge. Not only that but all i need to do is respec for this map to do so…..

Theory pvp maybe fun and it may make you feel like you are interesting but tbh, ingame during pvp….it rarely works.

Smackjack.5071

It’s not a bug. It cannot be an exploit. I’m 100% certain it’s not working as intended, but this is one of the reasons why this map is not in the tournament rotation. I’m sorry to say this but anyone who goes into the water on that kitten map is asking to get killed. There are so many things wrong with it that I can’t help but wonder how it got into the normal map rotation even.

Also I’d be pretty upset as a serious TPvPer if that map got any fixes before REAL fixes were implemented.

tl:dr That map isn’t real. If you go in the water you deserve to die. Water combat LOL

I have no trouble with underwater combat on any of my 6 toons. Maybe it is people like you that simply cannot adjust to it that allow me to win so much in underwater combat.

I would be having a ball in tourny’s if that map got added to the rotation.

Something like what Rift implemented would be awesome. I really enjoyed puging in Rift because of how easy/quick it was to form up a group.

What did Rift do?

Rift had a cross-shard LFG tool. You could queue up as any role you currently had (tank/dps/healer/support) and it would throw together a group and port you to the dungeon.

And then someone in a healer spec got added to your group only to switch to a dmg spec right after and refuse to run as a healer.

This hapened in PvP as well, the game balanced teams for the roles they que’d up with only for them to change it as soon as they were thrown into the group.

Seen it ages ago,so how does this fix gw2’s fov again?

GW2’s fov is designed to be low. You only get sickness if you sit to close to your screen. Sit further away, problem solved.

? I dont get sick from a low FOV , It annoys the hell out of me but i dont get sick because of it it since i do not suffer from motion sickness. Tts just very inpractical and impairing.

Sadly Anet already stated that they will not adjust the FOV.

What do you kill 1 mob and go afk for an hour then rinse and repeat.

I am all for exploring, taking your time and enjoying the game. But that is ridiculous.

There is no EXP/leveling curve in GW2 after lvl 5 or so. If you take that into account and add up the levels of all his toons he then made more levels then you did.

back in BC i remeber when you hadto talk to people in your dungeon party. now with random dungeons i swear i never said a word i just came for loot and points the players in my group were are que away from being replaced

Without trying to sound snide i must say that you are part of the problem then. I have played with a DF and without a DF and i always managed to chat, joke discuss in groups. Sometimes the ice needs to be broken and i have sen completly silent groups turn into a laughfest. Granted it does not always work and it was needed more in games with these DF’s and there were always certina players kittenfused to participate in any chat or communication and were interested in loot but in the end it is all up to you as player.

You have the ability to communicate with or without a DF. Blaming the system is never a excuse.

Update at prime time...not cool, bro.

I liked the system in GW1 a lot better. A new build would roll out and instead of kicking me; I could finish what I was doing and then re-log.

I’ve been in the middle of a story mission and gotten that before; then had to restart it. The old system was just a lot more user/customer/player friendly.

That was probably possible because of the way it was setup with all of its instances, it was a co-op game at best and not really a 1 world mmo. People could keep playing in their own instance without the updates that everyone else had since you could not be running into them anyway, so no compatibility issues between your old client and their new client while running a dungeon or a zone or pvp.

I never seen it possible in any proper mmo to postpone the update, it just has to be uniform.

Smackjack.5071

There are many times where it’s appropriate to do an update. In the middle of prime time is not the right time. I don’t care how long it takes for the servers to be brought up, even if it takes minutes. Sometimes we’re in the middle of rare events, and to have that BLASTED message pop up and get kicked out of the game during said event is complete BS. Even worse is that the message just suddenly crops up with three minutes of warning, so we have no idea when it’s going to happen.

Seriously, do things a little smarter. If it had happened to me during the middle of the night or early morning, I would’ve just chalked it up to bad luck. When it happens during the main play hours of the game, I chalk it up as bad planning.

What?

Anyone complaining about this games downtime and schedule should try and play any other mmo out there, especially at launch. You know what has been missing from gw2 so far compared to other mmo’s? hours and hours of downtime DURING prime time.

Seriously pick any MMO out there eaach and every one of them had long and extensive down times very very frequently and some each day for a week after launch.

3/4/8 hours downtime is nothing to be surprised about and here is GW2 the longest maint. i have seen was 60 minutes and that was just once, you just experienced a 5 minute downtime and you still come to the forums to complain about it and its schedule??

Also you prime time is not everyone’s prime time. It is always someone somehwere that has to be hit with a patch during their prime time but still , complaining about a 5 minute downtime ,really?

Oh also enemies becoming invulnerable when they have no way to attack the player. Also very annoying. This should only apply to certain enemies, not the random easy ones out in the open world.

yh i agree on that in full. If your attacking a nothing special mob and you are smart enough to choose the high ground then i think you should be able to use that. I understand that it is against exploit play styles but like you said those mobs are nothing special and they shoud be defeatable by being clever and this should not be punished.

As far as i know it is based on server load. Any MMO that i have played (quite a few) used this because it is simply the most logical and effective measure.

The fact on whether or not one could log in would/could be based on both a pop cap and the current load but which one is being used to portray the servers status i have no idea but imo it is most likely server load.

@VirtualBS.3165 Sure thats all true, the HPET is the superior method to time things in applications period. However we are discussing if a more precise timer can have any FPS impact at all in a game engine and here the answer is no, since it don’t effect any performance relevant game engine subsystem.

Counter precision can affect a lot of game engine subsystems. Try to do physics on wrong counters!

This is exactly where the problem lies , with that and collision detections.

“And I turned hpet on and Voila I sit again at 58 fps stabily.”

Could u reproduce this effect, by disabling Hpet and gaining lower FPS again and than turning it back on again for the gain?

Can u maybe fraps a video to show the steps and the results?

I’m a bit confused, since i’m a programmer and i know what the HPET timer is used for and what it does and i see no reason at all, why it would effect gaming FPS. So either there must be a “crazy” software bug involved or your claim is simply wrong and the FPS gain is related to some other factors.

Hpet affects FPS and HID’s. With it turned on a lot of people have a bigger delay on their mouse control (some are less sensitive to this) it usually makes for a little more stable framerate but lower overall.

Hpet has been giving these issues for quite a few years now. For instance when playing ‘WAR’ the big tip always was to turn it off.

Im not sure if it has been mentioned but your airflow does not depend on the amount of fans that you have but how they direct the air through your system. For instance you could have 8 fans in your system but if they do not direct the flow properly they could actually heat up your system instead of cooling it down.

Thx for your personal opinion, but i rather go with hard facts than hearsay. Yes i understand that its not “great” or otherwise every game review site would recommend it, however i saw some valid and positive benchmarks, for some modern games, using the latest lucid drivers.

The biggest issue seems stability and compatibility for games, but thats why i ask here. I’m not interested in any “hearsay” or personal opinion or if it don’t work with game XY. I would like specific GW2 test results, especially under 60 FPS systems with vsync off and only MVP “Hyperformance” mode. This means i’m interested in pure FPS gains/loss and not the “special vsync” feature over 60FPS.

As example, here is a test with newer drivers, but i cant find any test that uses the latest drivers. As shown it also “seem” to work for <60FPS as well, which was not seen on reviews before the newer drivers.

Why did you even ask?
You know what , google and test it yourself and find out and be done with it.You think people are going to install crap and deal with their game crashing every 5 minutes just to test it FOR you??

You have a special way of asking for info.

weapon swapping is useless because not all the skills on the second set are useful (ED: to his play style) and if i trait i trait for my main sets making my build less focused on my second set

Uhm well yes , obviously. What the op seems to want is that every skills is as effective to him and every single weapon set can be focused by traits. He wants to be able to be a jack of all trades.

Well fine i guess. I say to the OP go for it ! Be a hero then and remove your second weapon set ,see you on the grounds but prepare to be violated , lol.

If the OP actually lives up to his words and goes into spvp with just one set i predict that his next thread will be:

I am running with just one weapon set because i say a second set is useless but because the rest refuse to run with just one set i am at a disadvantage, nerf the second set pls *(ED: and prove him right) !

to the point , your second set is compliment your build’s focus and it does so perfectly.

i also think the game shouldn’t be as flashy.

there’s prob more but i haven’t played all day and i’m tired.

my heart still belongs to gw.

The targeting system is “poopy” as you say. Besides the solution that i have posted because i am assuming that you read that what is so bad about it?

“GW2 is zergy as hell” How was GW1 not zergy ?

If anything the entire system promotes zerg. You have healers, tanks and then support and dmg. The later 2 tend to stick to the first 2 ,for obvious reasons. Run into another group without your healer and tank and you already lost hence everyone stays near the healer and the tank more often then not.

This was something you saw i every MMO wthat has the holy trinity which is alo why u always heard people complain about the zergs.

The downed system , well i like it it makes for a interesting dynamic i think but sure if you dont like it then you dont like it i suppose.

I really believe that you are looking at GW1’s pvp with a idolized sense of nostalgia here.

THIS EXACTLY.
What SUCCESSFUL game currently on the market has an Anti-bot-code that effects normal players for playing the game? Is innovating the industry implementing a system that clearly does little to stop the problem it was created for?

The main fact is that Anet made this game and would want to keep its playerbase fairly happy (look at what complaining did to the dungeon token system), if they kept this DR system, people will NOT STOP COMPLAINING. This is a fact. If they removed it, how many people would actually be complaining?

gw2 targeting has a tendency to drop the target and select a new target. It isn’t the worst targeting system i’ve come across but it is pretty annoying in both pve and pvp at times.

That is if you use auto targeting. as far as i know it does exactly that. You can prevent it from switching away from your initial target by enabling ‘promote skill target’ in your options. With this once you hit something with any skill it locks the target until it is gone or you change it yourself.

I use this so that may explain why i dont have the issue.

Guild Wars is trying to be different if you add mounts then it is just like every other mmo . I personally dislike mounts found no use for them. Same with mini pets a little thing that follows you around and does nothing.

Same here.

Mounts are there to cater to the barby doll crowd ‘my ken and barby need a car!’ and the ‘look what i got , aren’t i cool!1’ crowd.I dislike mounts since all you see is mounts everywhere and people spamming their emotes 24/7 and whenever you are on a mount the entire map just goes by unnoticed. At least in gw2 you can insta travel when needed but the game also makes you travel through the map since to much teleporting costs money instead of flying your mount afk.

I was always quite happy that there where no mounts in TWS but even in that game people were asking for things like skates , rollerblades, hoverboards…….i mean seriously lol.

They look dumb and there is no need for them in gw2.

How does not having a flying bird or something stupid like that break the game for anyone like some here claim?

Lmao.

Full, High and Medium. Lmao.

You really think this gives you any kind of real statistical information to be going on? Lmao.

Lots of people have left, are thinking about leaving and how can you ever know what proportion of those Full, High, Medium servers are bots?

I see more bots than people at a lot of my DEs. Mainly as the DR system has forced them there to karma farm.

It’s going to get worse!

The server population is calculated by server load.
