I was thinking the same thing. I haven’t and will not be buying HOT and now my guild is pretty much useless? It was a completely upgraded guild and now all I can get is two upgrades to add a repair and a merchant npc to a guild hall I don’t have/want.

I was discussing this with friends today as i have a spare 300 points.
I came up with the idea of purchasing guild siege with spare points. I’d happily pay points for guild trebs, guild golems etc, so long as it was reasonably priced.

I can see alot of you have put some serious thought into this, and I just looking over a few of them I would love a commander related line. I also like the idea of titles or exclusive skins. They already have the exclusive skins for achievement points, so I think it would be kinda cool to do the same for wvw points.

as of 10mins ago, I was commanding on my server’s borderland in wvwvw. I disconnected and now can’t log back in.
I have tried restarting my computer 3 times. Not helping.
I have tried resetting my internet connection. Did not help.
All my drivers are up to date and my computer is in fantastic condition.

The first few times would disconnect me at character screen, now it’s not even logging me in from the launcher. I keep getting the error code: 42:1000:7006:1219

Any help or suggestions are welcome.

When creating a male human character, if set to medium height or the tallest possible his head disappears making it all but impossible to view his features when trying to customize them.
Now Obviously this can be solved by reducing his height and then adjusting the features, and then raising to max height again. But seriously… why is it even broken?

I moved to FA recently (Feb I think it was) for the WvW but also play in eotm during queues. So as a veteran freshly (somewhat) transferred to FA here is my experience and opinions.

Fort Aspen has a great WvW community and welcomed me with open arms. Many guilds are very open and are happy to have you run with them during open ops (and once they know you sometimes closed ops)
They have been steady in T2 without fault and I honestly can’t remember the last time they lost a match up.
As they’re often the victor of the weekly match up that means they are primarily Green (Overgrowth) in EotM and we all know how much OG kicks kitten in nearly all match ups.
There are guilds that do have a strong hand in EotM while doing some roaming in WvW.
They have a communal TS where you can join your guild or just join the wvw channels that are full of roamers, scouts, and the pug zerg.

The only downfall I have been able to find in FA is the queue times for wvw maps during NA time. Each map is often full with an approx 30min-1hour wait. And during reset if you don’t get in early you can forget it for at least 4 hours.

I hope you enjoy whichever server you choose.

You know your lag is bad when:
- your friend dies and their corpse still moves making it impossible to resurrect.
- You think you’ve run off the edge in EotM but you rubber band back onto solid ground and thank RNGesus profusely.
- When you’re following the commander tag for several mins via minimap and your lag catches up and the tag is in the opposite direction and you’ve been running the wrong way the entire time.
- When you use your finisher 6 times on someone in pvp and it still doesn’t kill them.

Colin seems like a nice enough guy, but I get the feeling he either doesn’t get, or doesn’t want to face, the deep-seated issues the game has.

Issues that adding a few extra layers of pretty stuff, on top, won’t help.

This game is like a beautiful looking cake.

It’s so promising on the surface.

Problem is, when you cut into it, you quickly find out it’s mostly just an icing shell and the part of it that is supposed to be cake is mostly hollow.

I think Joe discovered that for himself, which is why he gave the game a 10/10 to begin with and then fairly quickly stopped playing.

Hearing a bunch of stuff about more decoration for the still more-or-less non-existent cake is not going to make anyone feel like coming back.

Unless all they ever cared about was the icing, to begin with.

I like the icing more then cake… but even so… too much icing makes you sick and you need regular breaks from it. =/

If they brought back idle animations in the gem shop I would buy them… I miss them…

I liked them all except charr female. I was really disappointed that all they got were three sets of ridiculous dreadlocks.

I’m trying to think of creatures in Guild Wars 2 that could even be used as mounts…. I can only think of golems and dolyaks… To which I can’t imagine they speed up travel. I also can’t imagine what a charr’s warband would say if said charr rocked up on a mount. Wait, I can.

To other players that play ranger,

I’m sure you were just as happy as I was when you saw the new patch today/last night that promised a fix for our pets. I was so elated that after 3 weeks of shelving my poor ranger I pulled her out and dusted her off and started playing her again. I tested the new patch in pvp, wvw and pve content and was elated that the passive option worked again!

But alas my elation did not last longer then an hour. During a world boss fight my battle companion died prompting me to switch to my secondary pet. But when summoned this companion was also dead. I was puzzled, thinking maybe it had been hit and I had not noticed it. I tested this out in pvp. Again when swapping my dead pet out the secondary pet was dead aswell. This only happened while I was in combat though, so I still wondered if it was sustaining damage too quickly. I tried it again in pve and then headed to wvw to do some further tests. Again and again my dead pet was replaced with another dead pet, lowing my dps output and lessening my survivability.

My question to other rangers out there: Have you noticed this happening to your pets? Or is this an isolated case, perhaps (but doubtful) lag has come into play unnoticed and bashes my pet over the head when I’m not looking.

- Rangers are versatile. If you could only make one character, make it a ranger, then you can do everything. It has many viable builds and playstyles.

- Difficult to master, a challenge to play it at it’s best, but like a good challenge, its SO satisfying to do well.

This is pretty much how I got my friend to play ranger when she got the game. Although now with all the bugs with pets ranger is more challenging then before and sadly there is still ALOT of ranger hate.

Rangers are a fantastic solo class. If your friends aren’t online it doesn’t matter you can still solo most pve content (including most map events) without any issue while you wait for friends to come online.

Rangers are suited to any gameplay style. You can play with long bow for max range or short bow for a shorter range for when you still want to keep distance from your enemy. There is axe/offhand combinations for another alternative and then you have sword/offhand combinations and greatsword for some fun melee options. You can go completely range, completely melee or a mix of both.

Rangers are great in wvw roaming groups or zerg groups especially as part of a sniper team. They do reasonably well in pvp (not the best but I hear there are two making headlines). But I would have to say pve is their strongest area.

The only real downside I have experienced with my rangers is the community feeling towards them. You have to have a thick skin if you play ranger as there is alot of hate and social stigma about it.

I wish your friend luck in choosing a class. They’re all good and bad in their own ways and they’re all alot of fun to play.

Really wouldn’t be shocked if thats true. How many devs have you seen in game that play ranger? The one on my server plays a guardian and warrior. And the ones I’ve seen in pve are usually warriors too. Not much Ranger love from Anet even in the forums.

Oh yay. the loading screen got fixed but all the major bugs are still here… I wish they’d prioritize what they’re gonna fix and at least acknowledge some of the bugs so we know that they’re working on a fix.

Actually the latency has been getting to the point of full screen character freezing then has erratic rubber banding afterwards. Pretty much kick starting around last month.

I’ve been getting this too. It’s very frustrating being in eotm and waiting for a wvw map queue, elastic banding all over the place and having laggy skills. Only to finally reach the commander who is on the other side of the map. and then screen freezes and game disconnects. I have to relog, run all the way back to commander in eotm if I even get the same map as I had before, and then start my wvw queue all over again.
This has been happening to this extreme for the last couple of days. It’s no longer playable for me and I used to have little to no lag before the march 16th patch.
very frustrated that they still havn’t fixed it despite the countless posts about it.

I am sure they have no problem with others writing their own personal stories and acting them out, but they still have to do so in the context of what is going on in the game. During Halloween RPers are “forced” to deal with Mad King Thorn in LA, do you object to that as well? Or the hover peppermints for Wintersday.

Well, it came up in map chat every five minutes when I was doing the world boss train earlier tonight. So, odds are, most people who read map chat or who are in an active guild found about that fix fairly quickly (assuming they stayed online long enough).

I don’t know what map you were on but I went into wvw thinking a different map might disable it. When that didn’t work I did enquire on map chat. No one knew and I just got trolled. So I tried Eotm and the HotM. Map was full of trolls. All the real nasty people seem to be out today. In anycase I played for about 30mins trying to find a way to disable it before giving up. Most of my friends didn’t even last that long. I came to the forums disgruntled about not being able to play on my one day off this week. Now that i know i can disable the sepia effect and the sounds I still don’t want to play. I am a more then a little peeved at Anet for not just having an opt out function.

In my opinion this tasteless joke could have been better received if they had simply given the customers/player base a chance to opt out.

T2 NA and OCX fights almost impossible to play. I’m taking the week off and focusing on farming some gold and doing some good ol’ pvp.
But if this isn’t acknowledged soon I’m just gonna quit. There are plenty more mmo’s out there.

I’ve read through alot of these posts and some of you seem to have personalized the issue and seem very self righteous about it. So let me do the same.

My question is what gives you specifically the right to choose which words are offensive and which ones aren’t on a multicultural game?

Gw2 is very culturally diverse and many words have very different meanings for a great range of people. What might be offensive to you might actually have been completely harmless. GW2 has a block feature, a hide chat feature and a profanity filter for the more delicate souls that play the game.

Now I’m not condoning bullying or verbal abuse, for those there is a report button and I honestly haven’t seen it fail yet, though it can take a few days to kick in. They can only add so many words to the profanity filter, at which point it gets somewhat ridiculous.

An example of this:
Hooters in america means an adult bar (from what I understand). Where I am from it is a slang term for owls. Completely harmless. Yet this term I have often found to be blocked by profanity filters in many games.
There are many many names for genitalia which I had no idea about most of them about until coming to the internet only to find these words (when trying to use them in a complete mundane and harmless fashion) have been blocked as ‘profanity’.

The profanity filter covers so much already, and can make harmless intellectual conversation difficult as it is. What more do you want them to do with it?
If someone is being a bully or being unnecessarily cruel or even if there is someone breaking TOS, there IS a report function and it does work. I suggest you use it. And if all that fails you are able to block the offensive person and never hear from them again.

I’m not entirely sure this started with the patch from the 16th, since I haven’t been playing for a while and just noticed it. Also I couldn’t find it on either page of this threat, so the issue is: the guild chat doesn’t flash if there’s a new message (I got a “guild only” tab) but instead my “whisper only” tab flashes. The other chats all work properly (except the often mentioned green text colour).

I have separate panels for chat too. I can confirm it hasn’t flashed whisper or guild in a LONG time.

still not fixed. My fernhound is still attacking while in passive mode, and recalling him constantly effects damage output in a big way.

I have updated all my drivers and run the repair as recommended in other posts, and I still get black screen of death. It happens atleast twice a day. It can happen in any map, pve or wvw. It’s happened during a pvp match and also in a dungeon. Please Anet, fix this soon.

Ok so they ‘fixed’ the random voices. or so I had thought. My female characters no longer have random male shouts. BUT they still have mixed class shouts. Race and gender are correct but my guardian does not have a pet and should not be using the ranger shouts and whistles… My human necro is not a guardian and should not be shouting ‘save yourselves’ while she’s running along.

All instances of miss matched shouts have happened in pve maps, pvp, eotm and wvw. Silver wastes is particularly bad, as it happens more often in this map, though I’m not sure why.

I have discussed this amongst friends and guildies and they are experiencing similar problems with their characters, though they don’t seem to mind as much as I do. The out of place shouts/voices break immersion and cause a distraction and have become rather irritating.

Who else is experiencing this particular ‘bug’ still?

I rather like the current stance. Instead of changing the Charr, they should change the skins. Some skins have a tailhole, why not all? Some helmets have room for horns, why not all?
About the shoulders, they are bad on about every race, which is why most of my characters don’t show them…

I agree, I like my charr hunched over and running on all fours. It’s makes the race unique.
I would however like to see ALL armor catered for the individual races, not just the humanoid ones. Not all armor seems to have been individualized for charr. I get frustrated with the limited wardrobe options because I HATE clipping issues. I often end up sticking to the racial armor or one of the ‘outfits’ as they seem to cater well for tail and horns.

I often buy transmute stones with gems as I have multiple toons and like to keep their appearances up to date with the latest skins (weapons and armor). I also need to change my appearance regularly if I start to get commander sniped in wvw.
I would pay for an unlimited stone… not a chance in a locked box but off the store. 2000g is cheap I think it would most likely be 5000gems. But I would be willing to pay this as it would only take me a few months for this to turn a profit for me (so to speak).

EDIT: I would like to see them the charges drop in wvw too as I don’t do much pve or pvp content.

One of my friends had this happen today too. She was stacking upgrades in her bank guild and she was still able to read and talk in a separate guild chat even though she wasn’t reping it. None of us nor she could replicate it.

Don’t know if anyone is still got buggy voices, but my Char mesmer keeps whistling for a ranger pet….
No other random voices, just a random whistle. It’s happened in wvw, eotm, cursed shores and several other maps. Never any rangers around when it happens either. It’s deffinately coming from my character.

You REALLY need to look up what those numbers actually mean. I’ve been PVPing (world PVP, wargame PVP) for over a decade, with a ping of over 200, and have always been completely OK. You only start to get issues at pings over 400-500 or so.

My advice would be to organise the exchange over skype/ts/vent or some chat format that way it won’t flag the chat system in game.
I haven’t done it, but I know a few who do. They used the chat system once and got a temp ban. So now they just pm each other through ts or they skype while they trade their goods.

I would not recommend doing this unless you know the person extremely well as this is still a trade for RL currency (in a twisted way).

I hear the server Tarnished Coast have a lot of rpers still. You can also find people in the major cities, especially the Grove, that are RPing.

I can trade my gold for gems but I cannot BUY gems. This is kinda funny. It’s a shame though, I really wanted the shadow dyes.

i hope this gets fixed too. I really really like the skirt and wanna use it more in armor combinations but with the current texture glitch it’s not possible
