Pointless season haven’t even bothered to log in, too many other games to play!
BG player, working as intended.
Revert it to back to the way it was before the September patch, did anyone REALLY have an issue with it prior to this?
- no side can have more then 20% players then the other side on the map
you can’t punish players just because they want to play but their side has more people.
- 3 × 8 hour matches per day for the timezones (double the current upgrade speed / half the cost) – matchmaking performed here against servers with similar populations online / in wvw.
Coverage will still be an issue. 8 hours is more than most people’s playtime.
- Each win / loss earns the battlegroup points, at the end of the week whoever has the most points wins.
See above.
Most of those are solved by proper match making as suggested, just throwing it out there.
Can anyone point out any major flaws in my suggestion?
Battlegroups, and

This would help make the battles fast and furious, and still have a goal to work for each week.
Alliance setup needs to be taken out of the users hands and handled by the systems in place, otherwise this is no different to the server stacking that happens now *Cough BG guilds paying other guilds to be in their alliance" – Sad but true, human nature, take the path of least resistance.

This stuff is not rocket science.

hmm so empty maps > full maps with activity… nice mindset lol
My point is, why break something that isn’t broken, is that the new company moto??
The problem is, and many, many people don’t realize this or don’t believe it, it has been broken. To quote Colin from another post than the one I just linked:
I want to make it clear: what we used to have absolutely wasn’t good enough for our standards of retaining new users. Before we do some of the other things we want to do with Gw2, we had to fix this, period.
Most of the people who post on the forum seem not to have trouble with the game’s complexity, but those are, almost (but not entirely) exclusively, players who have been retained after the early levels, while the problem group are those who start the game and lose interest. It might not seem like a problem in my gameplay experience, but I’m also not actively studying new player retention, and I don’t have any useful tools for doing that in a scientific way, either.
Does it make sense for them to upset the apple cart on this issue if everything is okay? I’m sure it took them by surprise as well; Anet can’t be any happier than we are about stripping out parts of the game that are already developed and paid for, and were intended as permanent content. I can’t say for sure that the changes they made were completely correct—They’re certainly not the ones I’d like to have seen made, for my own experience. But I think it’s safe to say that if the devs are getting a mandate that they need to fix this problem, the problem exists.
I dunno man, did we really need a tutorial on how to dodge ffs??
I just don’t get it, they taken the only game I used to love re-rolling multiple chars in and made it such a clusterkitten that I couldn’t even be bothered logging in my high levels now. It’s not as if they don’t have any new competition coming, baffling….
PS. The new system should have been called “NGE – New Gamer Experience”.
My point is, why break something that isn’t broken, is that the new company moto??
I’ve been playing this game consistently since beta, I used to love the leveling system, it was a great balance. I decided I would level up a new char since this new “leveling experience” was introduced. I thought I would share my experience with the forum and hopefully the developers.
So, I get all excited and create a level 1 elementalist. He looks cool, and I’m pumped to head into the game…
I enter the game, do the first quest, notice that I can’t learn anymore skills as they are level locked….. no biggie. I proceed with a few hearts around the starter area for my race, and slowly start gaining levels. I hit level 5 and wonder why I don’t have any skill points.. After a bit of hovering, I learn I can’t gain skill points until later levels… ok w/e.
I finished off my first personal story, and try to figure out why I cannot proceed with anymore personal stories… Oh right, LEVEL locked… So I complete all the hearts in the starter area ignoring the skill points AS I WALK BY THEM as I’m not high enough level.
So I head to the next zone as I’ve completed EVERYTHING I can do in the starter area. Enter the next zone, get one shot by some random NPC. I think, hmm, maybe I need to level up in EOTM so I can proceed with my progression. I enter EOTM and hop on the train, cap a tower and receive around 30Xp, I repeat 30XP. At this point I ask in map chat what’s up with the XP.. They then inform me that you start to gain XP at a proper rate (what is used to be) from level 30 onwards.
OK, I log out and enter Eternal Battlegrounds as I’m seriously stumped as to what I can do to level up. OMG, the up level system has been borked as well. I soldier on and start laying down the fields I’m allowed to at my level to support the team. Things are going well for about 10 minutes, but I notice I’m leveling exceptionally slow. I log out and in and try and figure out what I can do, but I notice I am unable to:
1. do any hearts I haven’t done unless I travel to another starter area as I’m too low level, no thanks;
2. do any gathering as it’s level locked;
3. do any skill points as it’s level locked;
So it seems my only option to is to grind npc’s around my level for a few levels, hmm no thanks, I log out and go and play PS4.
This is my story.
shouldn’t be able to disable seige from behind a gate / wall
+1 – does anyone on the dev team even play a low level character.. this has turned into the most frustrating leveling experience i’ve ever done…. what was wrong with the old system????
So am I the only one getting the bug with Monk’s Focus not working with Renewed Focus??? – It seriously only heals 1 out of 10 times, even in the combat log… WTF?
I’ve been testing some changes this morning. Monk’s Focus does not seem to be behaving properly with Renewed Focus.. Sometimes I get the heal (probably 1% so far) – other times, I don’t.. The CD reduction works with Meditation Mastery, but the heal does not seem to be working in any sort of reliable form. Obviously I’m talking about when you’re not at full health
How some ppl still prefer server pride (ie. no one in the map) over an active gaming environment (map is flourishing with activity) is beyond me.
Server pride means nothing if you have no enemies to fight.
All you QQ’ers might wanna save your stamina for the other class that is getting buffed this patch, adding a condition on a slow AA chain is not really an issue
hope they fix the fact arcane thievery doesn’t work if there is even a 2mm difference in terrain height between you and your target =/
I appreciate the new colors, but this is quite a strange move and one that will most surely have a negative effect on the playerbase rather then a positive one.
please leave this skill alone, it’s one of the best ways to kill a condi theif.. cheers
Any chance you can share your build? – I understand if you don’t want to, I’ve been trying to play an interrupt mesmer on an australian connection (300ms+) – I’m getting much better but I’m wondering if the lag is making it that much harder for me.
if you meet a half decent condi thief running the mega cheese build, even as a necro, just afk and make a cup of coffee.
Time your F1’s and use them wisely, thx anet.
+1
- We can’t talk about that right now. Once the in-development features reach a state where we, as a company, are comfortable talking about them, we will.
- Some player requests are under development. What those are and when they will be completed, I can’t say at this time for reasons mentioned above.
Reading this statement I had a terrifying moment of deja vu from Warhammer: Age of Reckoning.
+1
+1 horrible skill in it’s current state that simply does not work.
If they don’t capitalize on the WvW format in every way possible, including current & future development focus, this may go down in history as one of the BIGGEST examples of squandered opportunities.
There is no other game out there that can even touch the general fun you can have in WvW. I just don’t understand why they ignore it, it’s the selling point of the game, the PVE is meh, the sPVP is just outright bad, so all that is left that sets GW2 apart is WvW.
What they need is a business model manager that sees:
1. The majority of people that still log in daily to this game are WvWers.
2. PvE’s come and go once the content is finished, the WvW’ers are the ones that hang around leading to more potential gem sales.
The opportunity is there, they just need to grab the bulls by the horns so to speak.
If you want mega burn application, have a look at “Runes Of The Guardian” – applies burn everytime you block an attack, which stacks with “Defenders Flame”, can switch scepter to mace as well for some extra sustain, and another block.
The issue with this is you end up sacrificing a TON of duration in addition to taking toughness and healing power stats in a build focused around dealing damage. I can see Runes of the Fire or Flame Legion may be viable replacements but I still find having that 2 second burn on the passive proc is important, especially considering that Smite is 16 hits if you can get them to stand in most of it.
My main problem when playing a burn guard was the fact we have no cover conditions, so re-application was more important then duration, but I can see this build working well, will give it a shot

game is broken, please fix
gold sink, revert.
Okay, so you tick for 1.1k for one second every five hits. You have a few other sources of burning, but I hit that high with just 7 bleeds on a condition build with any other class. Or 1-1/2 times that on a Knight’s build auto attack.
Translation: if you’re “owning” people with a condition guardian, it’s because they really suck.
You need to have a look at “Runes of the Guardian” and then experiment with some builds… you’ll get the picture soon enough, it’s quite easy to maintain 100% burn uptime with a guard even on the highest of condi-removal classes.. Not saying condi guard is an excellent choice, but it can be very effective.
Try avoiding all of the massive condition spam weapon skills and condispam utilities(think engineer, necro, etc.) and condispam runes and traits (think Mesmer, thief, engineer, etc.) and passives (guardian etc.).
Here’s a question: why are you bothering? Why are you trying to avoid auto-attacks (because those are the only “spam” abilities that actually exist)? They aren’t the heavy-hitting skills. Against a direct damage build, do you try to avoid the autos? No? Then why do you blow your dodges/blocks/cleanses on condition build autos that hurt even less? Other skills have reasons to avoid them. Auto-attacks are always an endless supply, regardless of your opponent’s build.
And if you’re seriously scared of a Guardian’s Virtue of Justice passive, you may want to just leave PvP altogether. It’s incidental damage at best, since condition damage guardians suck, so that burning never really hurts (oh no, his 5th attack did an additional 328 damage to me, I am so screwed…).
Srs? – My condi guardian burns tick for 1,100 and wrecks all 1v1.. think outside the box and you can smash ppl with the right condi guard build… in 1vX we suck tho haha!
Release a tournament with glaring population imbalances and straight up bad game design and this is what you get.. A lesson for the developers, not that they give a flying kitten, this is not sPvp remember…..
How do you remove conditions with this build?
lol #bgtears #buygate
How good is that “Silver Lining” song – props Osicat nice build and video
P/D thief impossible to kill still
Perhaps if they changed the clusterkitten of a map EOTM is people would play it.. Worst map design in an mmo EVER.
Not fun to play and not fun to play against.. Do the math ArenaNet.
It’s a pity it’s such a BORING game outside of it’s stealth mechanic lol. Terrible animations, clunky combat, and running accross a barren land for 5-10 minutes at a time is NOT my idea of fun… LOL.
LAG all the time in WvW, some maps are worse then others… Gets exponentially worse when facing a group of Blackgate players. When facing a large group Tarnished Coast players, it’s not as bad as facing a much smaller group of Blackgate players, which is quite odd.
Had to log off again today, LAG is unplayable in both PVE and PVP.
Same here.. Lag after patch is unplayable.
^Toughness only helps with mit damage brotha need to utilize gw2’s dynamic combat system better with traits dodges roots etc. if you want to live thru a thief burst without having to move just stack everything in vit. you’ll live 1 bs maybe
How can I dodge when I’m dead in 2 hits??
I don’t know how u guys can roam on an ele.. I constantly get 2 shot by theives even with 2k toughness in t1.
GW2… where a queue is not a queue, and warriors / thieves are fine.
In summary, l2q imo.
As if it matters what class you play in a Zerg in this game.. Hilarious. Rangers need love, but are no where near as broken as everyone makes them out to be.
RTL never hits as well lol.
