33 Stacks of Piles of Bloodstone Dust
33 Stacks of Empyreal Fragments
14 Stacks of Dragonite OreWhat the heck am I supposed to do with this crap?
You’re supposed to buy more bank tab slots from the gem store.
This is why I liked the Spoon collection and Trash collection.
Those items were bound and you had to go get them . . .
Yeah. Buying stuff off the Trading Post is boring.
I thought it would be a good alternative to GW2 as well, but seeing the feedback after the beta, I don’t think it’ll do as well as people had initially anticipated.
I heard that the game was awesome in alpha, and that it’s been ruined ever since by horrible development decisions.
I’m still hoping that the game will be fun at least in some ways. But, I don’t particularly have hopes that it will be a rival to what Guild Wars 2 was. With a rocky headstart and a bunch of unpopular design decisions, ArcheAge is going to have a lot of difficulty getting off the ground. There’s also the whole server population and land issue, which I heard was really bad on the EU servers. I can understand why they haven’t resolved that issue, though. For a game like AA, merging servers is going to be much more difficult than creating new servers. So, they don’t want to make more servers and then have the population be spread too thin.
Wasn ‘t the starting instance always unlosable? Because I remember trying to fail it during BWE3 and couldn’t.
I have no idea.
I’m sorry.
Stop saying that and get an idea. You have no idea how infuriating it is when you say something which is wrong and then claim to not have tested it.
How in the flying kitten am I supposed to test whether the starter instance has always been impossible to lose? Is Arenanet planning to give me access to every patch since BWE?
Do you have any idea how dumb you just sounded for insulting me for not testing something which is physically impossible for me to test?
ArcheAge is going live tomorrow, maybe I’ll give that a shot.
That game might be a mess for a few months. I’ve heard that the headstart was…. bad.
AA might come off with a rocky start.
Wasn ‘t the starting instance always unlosable? Because I remember trying to fail it during BWE3 and couldn’t.
I have no idea. I was just saying that the “balance” argument for not letting players choose weapons falls a bit flat when you consider that almost every enemy for the first four levels are complete pushovers. It’s not like you are going to enter the game and run into Champion Bandit Lieutenant anymore. In which case, it didn’t matter if you had a longbow or an axe, because you were still going to die anyway.
kittenual weapon
I don’t know what it is but I want one!
That’s exactly what we need. A Charr with a kitty backpack and a mini-Rytlock brandishing a cat at his enemies.
I don’t know about anyone else, but it was very annoying when I’d use Hide in Shadows while fighting mobs and having 80% dead mobs reset, leash and regenerate.
Or how about doing that Skill Challenge, and the entire boss resets when you use stealth.
I have mixed feelings about letting people choose their own weapon, certainly for a first character anyway.
A developer can better control the experience balancing the starting area for a single weapon, rather than having to wonder if every weapon has the same rough peformance, which isn’t always the case.
The starter instance is unlosable now, and the extremely low level zones are so laughably easy compared to how they used to be, that any random weapon now would will be easier than using the most efficient weapon during the launch of the game.
You’re so cute when you try to justify talking about a patch you haven’t even tested.
Mock me all you want. But, that doesn’t change the fact that people are apparently having a difficult time finding green beans in the game, and that it isn’t making their attitude towards this patch any more positive.
And you’re right, I haven’t tested it personally. I did not go to the vendor who used to sell green beans, and I don’t have a Mawdrey II. So, I actually have no idea how difficult it is to acquire green beans now. I was just relaying what I’ve heard from other players about how they are having trouble finding green beans.
You’re so cute when you try to belittle me for talking about a topic which you haven’t even tested.
I told them in the beta that choosing a starting weapon should be part of the char creation process.
Yeah. Just like in Legend Of Mana. You choose what weapon you want to start with, and you have a little preview of what it looks like when you are creating your character.
Did you realize the Ranger, Necro and Elementalist did NOT have 25% speed on signets for some time after launch? Only the Thief did. It was added in a later patch.
At launch, most of the speed signets only added 10% run speed.
Most of the changes made were done in haste. Don’t believe me? Did you know that bulk amounts of Apples and all sources of Green Beans were simply deleted from their game as they carelessly removed Karma items from the starting areas?
Bold claims. You better be careful with that. Vayne might find out that you are wrong and spreading misinformation, and then claim that he should question all of your forum posts because you made a couple of false claims.
For that matter, I hope Vayne does test this in-game. People have been saying that you can only buy apples one at a time now, and that there is no longer anywhere to get green beans.
I’m sure Vayne will swoop in shortly to correct you. You are almost certainly wrong about there no longer being any way to get green beans. Even the wiki says that you can get green beans as a possible drop from Mawdrey II
The sigil of speed is actually really good at low level, along with bloodlust.
I completed the heart in 1 go. I killed a few seperatists, rez the two downed soldiers, picked up every Metal Bar, and searched Wreckage.
Granted, it took a lot longer than pre-patch. But, I didn’t have to wait for anything to respawn.
I just got done playing a necromancer in the first Guild Wars. My minions actually do more than take up valuable space on my skillbar. I’m not sure why Arenanet has so much difficulty making minions useful in GW2. Even the minion AI is better in GW1, it seems.
One of the reasons I never leveled a necro in the past is because it seemed like most of the minions never attacked, especially that shade thingy which just sat around 90% of the time.
That wasn’t two minutes.
Profession is what it was called in the first Guild Wars. So, some people still call classes “professions” even though in GW2 profession is the in-game terminology to describe crafting trades.
Really the only event in the more recent LS that was good was when your character fights the dragon in the Grove, alone.
That was easily the most interesting part of LS Season 2.
Although, I actually preferred the fight against the Champion Toxic Hybrid krait in the Tower Of Nightmares. I thought that battle was more difficult to solo.
I just got done playing some GW1
Or, you could just craft the runes yourself. It’s a groundbreaking concept, I know.
You can’t craft traveller runes .. at least as far as i know.
The OP didn’t specify Traveller runes.
As the title suggests we need more runesets with inherent 25% run speed boost. It doesn’t give people in PVE an advantage but since there’s no mounts involved we should have the option. It would also spread out the cost a bit since these generally are in an eternal inflation cycle where they are increased because of the run speed boost essential to classes that don’t have this as an option really. I think if they made all runesets in PVE have the run speed boost it would diversify the options a bit more and give the TP a chance to move around the cost so that the playerbase wouldn’t end up with essential Runesets that are extremely high in gold cost for their level 80 open world armor.
Or, you could just craft the runes yourself. It’s a groundbreaking concept, I know.
Never really use it i call them chars or charracters. Maybe heroes to switch it up.
You would be a confusing a lot of people if you played Guild Wars Nightfall.
It is lucky. But also maybe it’s more than luck. I strongly suspect there are a lot of achievement hunters around, possibly due to the console generation growing up with achievements. I mean all the games basically have them now. Older generations of players tend to think achievements are sort of silly, but many of the newer gamers grew up with them and expect them.
I’m an older gamer. To be honest, the first time I saw achievements in a game, I didn’t understand the point. It did seem silly to get some title for doing something that you were going to do anyway. I still don’t care for achievements all that much, because they are basically just pre-set goals, and I used to play text-based RPGS where you basically make your own goals. So, I’m used to coming up with stuff that I find interesting.
See, this is my problem. People comment about the new patch without actually having tried the new patch. Here’s the reward for finishing the tutorial in the new patch, with the new guardian I just made to test it out.
It’s a mace, slightly better than the one you have when you start, to teach you to change weapons, just like I said. I know you don’t like that patch, but you really shouldn’t be talking about it unless you’ve tried it. That’s my objection to a lot of the stuff people having been saying. Much of it is demonstrably untrue.
Arenanet still hasn’t given me my free character slot so I can test out stuff like this without having to delete one of my existing characters.
Just sayin’
You should probably be more careful when crafting things.
I think the jarring transition from the edges-rounded-off changed starter areas and the rest of the game is going to be a issue in the future.
Especially with no traits or utility skills to help tackle the mid-level zones.
I’m an achievement hunter.
That’s very lucky for you, actually. The achievement system has seen more improvements than any other aspect of the game since launch.
Why would you want someone in your party that is a low level? They can’t use skills or traits.
Because it’s a main hand weapon with slightly higher stats than the weapon you have.
I’m sure that helps Guardians a lot since, correct me if I’m wrong, they get the choice between a SHIELD or a FOCUS for completing the intro.
It takes half an hour or so for most people to solidify their first impression of a game, and that first half an hour in GW2 is now massively restrictive and pretty much the same as most MMO’s out there now.
Except that GW2 has a low number of skills and a limited action bar.
While I’m talking about it, some stats are seldom if ever used by other than new players. I’m thinking of healing, for example. It might be worth looking at buffing some of the existing but little used stats or otherwise making them more attractive.
Healing Power is almost worthless. That’s why it isn’t used for anything other than bunker troll builds in WvW mode.
Consumable items are too complex for new players.
Totally.
To be honest, I was 100% surprised that some low-level karma vendors still sell food buffs.
If I had to guess perhaps its mechanicly handled like the ranger LB#2 that got buffed? IDK just a guess but I hope they’ll fix this soon.
Only the activation time for LB2 got buffed. The arrows don’t actually hit for 5k a piece.
I’m glad someone read through my wall.
Thanks. And, I did think that the Elona training ground was useful. I cannot fathom why Guild Wars 2 doesn’t have something like it.
What I feel Arenanet should have done is kept everything ingame as it was before the change and instead added things to introduce things to us. The dodging tutorial is great, because it’s hands on and you can do it before or after that and you don’t have to do it at all. It really made me remember the Elona training ground where you could talk to NPC’s to get an idea of ranges and skills and all sorts of other things if you cared to read.
BRING BACK THE ELONA TRAINING GROUND. In fact, keep the Pink Flamingo in it, as well. All of my heroes had Flamingo pets, and it was fun running with heroes and seeing other player’s reactions to pink flamingo’s running around everywhere.
They underestimate Charr, too.
What…..The….kitten…. Anet how do you make such a game breaking.. well break.
I don’t even think Arenanet knows how they broke it. They seem to be having some trouble fixing it.
Golem for the Asuran’s just took my Warrior 30k hp down to death in 3 seconds. The shots from the gattling fists hit for 5k EACH.
If you have enough Toughness, the projectiles will only hit you for like 3k. Each.
Next time please use your QA correctly because this shouldn’t have gotten past you or them. Fix asap, this is breaking everything atm.
There are a lot of things that shouldn’t have gotten past them. Most of them are more obvious than this. I have no idea how the 9/9 patch got released to the live servers in the state that it was in, but clearly there was a massive lack of testing before the patch was released. I found bugs literally within minutes of logging in on 9/9, and I found more bugs within hours of playing. There is no excuse for releasing a patch with this many bugs, particularly when some of the bugs are so obvious that they are almost impossible to miss.
Surely, they must be powering their Golems with something new. I’m betting on Dr. Bleent’s Ooze Booze, which was mysteriously missing from his vendor wares.
After years of painstaking and morally questionable research, the Inquest have discovered the secret of the Eternal Alchemy. Golems run much more efficiently when you power them with Dr Pepper. Dr Pepper is the new fuel source for Mark II golems.
Most drops scale to your level, except for loot bags which are based on the level of the monster that dropped them, except for in WvWvW where they also scale to your level.
moa swift feathers
i dont think im gonna get those, i mean, they r like 2 g for 30 min in tp atm, cant get from vendor anymore…
I thought as much.
Your only options for a trapper build with trapper runes is to toss out a trap for Signet Of The Hunt, or to use the Warhorn 5 skill. Rampage As One also gives Swiftness, but it’s on a long cooldown.
There isn’t just one player base, there are many people with many different opinions. I’ve always thought the story was too fragmented, and wasn’t cohesive because of the original presentation.
Living Story was never cohesive. Season 2 hasn’t fixed that.
What is up with the damage on Gatling Fists? I was getting hit for over 1,000 damage on my newbie character. It’s not much different at other levels either, and the Elite Asura Summon also does insane damage with it. I saw a lot of players in Metrica frustrated about this as well, because as you know Golems are quite common there and as Personal Story bosses. Since players have no means of defending themselves due to the trimming away of skills, you can’t dodge enough to just not get destroyed. I hope this is a bug haha.
I’m pretty sure it’s a ploy by the Inquest for world domination.
Or, it could just be a bug.
The number of merchants was likely considered too overwhelming for new players and thus were removed, along with buckets of water
You can still get a bucket of water, which has no skills, which magically appears in your hands out of nowhere when you search a burning hay bale.
Because picking up a bucket of water off the ground, where you could see it, was too confusing for new players.
Thanks for this excellent post as well!
No problem. Remember, any profession can be good at roaming. It’s just that some tend to be more useful in certain situations. The biggest limiting factor is mobility, since there are so few ways to increase mobility. This is why Warriors, Engineers, and Thieves are generally considered more useful. They have lots of mobility options. Thieves and Warriors can get around the map quickly, while Engineer has access to mobility skills that can be very useful both in and out of combat. Thief and Engineer can also stealth, which comes in handy. Ranger also has Greatsword 3, but you won’t be as fast a a Warrior with a greatsword.
Things like damage and survivability can be done with any profession to various degrees. But, how quickly you can travel to point A to point B is limited by the number of mobility skills your profession has access to. This is why I would probably not make a Necromancer with the intention of the character being a primary roamer. Personally I play Ranger, because with the Engineer I feel that I have to play Bach on my keyboard just to do damage (much less solo a camp). Ranger is much simpler, like a warrior, but I don’t really like the warrior’s skills.
For “ninja capping” the Ranger is usually recommended. Ninja capping is where you take out outlying scouts and sometimes other guards first at a far enough range that it doesn’t trigger swords on the map to trigger. Rangers can also solo fully upgraded camps because you can get the guards to target your pet instead of you.
For “fast capping” and general roaming, Engineer is a good choice. It’s easy to get permaswiftness, and you have access to several mobility skills. If you can obstruct LoS, camps are fairly easy to take with bomb builds. Although, you will probably want to switch your traits and skills before and after flipping camps since the best builds for flipping camps is quite different from builds that are good against other players. You should be able to solo fully upgraded camps if you are good, but you don’t get the free tank that a ranger has.
Thief is very fast and can do some sick damage. I have no idea how hard it would be to solo a fully upgraded camp, as I don’t play thieves. You should be able to take down a non-upgraded camp, especially if you pull the scouts first and fight the guards two or three at a time. I’m not sure if you can just clump them all together like you can do with an engineer/ranger.
Warrior has great mobility and is really strong. You should be fine with a warrior as long as you gear and trait him correctly.
Soloing camps is about being able to kill all the guards before the enemy notices their camps are under attack, and having enough survivability that you don’t have to retreat or lose damage from having to kite too much. Another thing that is useful to have is a skill which interrupts, since guards have heal skills.
The renown heart “Assist the Blood Legion” in Diessa Plateau is bugged. You cannot interact with any of the mines.
Everything other than the mines is working. You can still complete the heart, if you need it for map completion.
I played a necromancer after patch with similar results. Mostly leather armor drops, a few cloth, a couple of heavy. I got some pistols, too.
I didn’t seem to be getting any dramatic number of items that were useful for a necro. I went to a karma vendor to get better armor.
