The Inquest aren’t evil, they are just determined and a little loose with ethics. OK, a lot loose with ethics.

As far as the hylek, I can’t help you with that one. Have you tried leveling up so that you are massively overleveled for the area, and then talking with him? That might help.

Hey, I even admitted rangers needed some love but shifting from one extreme to another shouldn’t be the way to go.

Shifting from one extreme to another is how Anet does things. That was true even in the first Guild Wars. If you expected class balance in a PvP setting, you bought the wrong game.

We can still complain about it, though.

Actually, it wasn’t so much rangers, but Asura (of any profession) that were OP when the patch went live.

Combined with GS this class has far too much survivability and mobility for the damage they put out.

Combined with GS, Warrior has far too much survivability and FAR too much mobility for the damage they put out. Except that their damage is mostly melee.

I don’t know how that compares to ranger longbow now, since I haven’t played my ranger yet. But, that was a huge reduction in RF activation time, so I wouldn’t be surprised if glass cannon ranger is OP with longbow traits.

I might have agreed that the complaints were too many too soon, except for the fact that despite nearly 50 pages of complaints about trait changes over six months, almost nothing was done and finally a dev arrived to say ask people to summarise because the thread was too long.

I can summarize the trait thread in six words:

Bring the pre-April trait system back.

Well, except for being able to change your traits anywhere for free. That can stay.

I think they need to turn their focus away from leveling and add more permanent end game content.

That’s what they’ve needed to focus on ever since Flame & Frost, if not before that. We’ve been saying forever that we want more PERMANENT content. You know, stuff like Southsun Cove and Drytop. Things that we can actually go back to rather than just do them a single time and have them disappear in a month.

Imo their position in Queensdale was weird. I remember playing my first ever character and being confused at why these merchants were the first I came across instead of merchants directly selling me starter weapons and gear.

^^
This.

Why did the first merchants that we come across sell us food buffs or take us to the Black Lion store, rather than sell us gathering tools or low level weapons? It made no sense. As a new player, you won’t know what to do with the Black Lion store, and gathering tools would be more useful than some weak food buffs (which you could get from the first karma heart quest vendor, anyway)

Yeah. Everyone can make up statistics. It’s not hard. That’s why intelligent people just ignore people who throw numbers around like they know what they are talking about.

Did you also know that the more that people eat ice cream in Texas, the more boating accidents there are in Michigan?

Numbers are meaningless. The only number that matters is $$$$ and only time will tell whether this new “vision” from Arenanet will get them more, or less of it.

Q: And if someone determined a way to increase the 7-series golem damage to excessive amounts?
A: Well, then we die or we bow down to our new golem overlords.

Everyone knew that Asura were the master race. It was only a matter of time before they forced the other races to accept that fact.

@ Sokia—- fun for you—not for all. As for SAB—no place in an MMO.

My point was that Arenanet should have focused on adding content rather than just moving current content to higher levels. I don’t care if you like SAB or jumping puzzles, but they are things to do just like WvW is something to do just like dungeons are something to do just like map exploration is something to do just like PvP is something to do. People have been calling for more content in these areas, and instead Arenanet just gates low-level content to higher levels.

I’ve found leveling my necro harder than leveling a necro pre-patch.

I can’t even imagine how much harder AC will be if you actually try to do it at the recommended level. It’s much harder than killing trash mobs, and you won’t even have all of your skills by that point.

While I think a great many players also agree, the CDI for guilds was talked about before the patch.

Yeah, but I didn’t care about it then either. CDIs are great, but there is nothing they could do involving guilds that would make the game any better, and the only thing they could do is make things worse (by adding new features that you need to be part of a large guild to benefit from), so I’ve never cared about a guild-based CDI. Before this week, I would have wanted a CDI on the destructive changes to the Traits system introduced in the last feature patch.

This new patch is a major issue though, and they need to have a major sit-down explaining why we shouldn’t hate the things we believe we hate about it. Why should we like the new level-gating system? Why should anyone? Why should we appreciate having to go several layers deep to see what we just sold rather than having it as a top-level option? These are all far more important topics of discussion than anything involving guilds.

To you maybe but the world doesn’t revolve around either you or I. I promised the CDI and we are doing it. There is plenty of awesome stuff that can come from it so it is a pleasure to be able to read what members of the CDI have to say.

if you don’t see the value in it then don’t partake.

Cheers

Chris

It’s sort of like planning a family meeting a week in advance to talk about how the kids could help out mom more around the house. You promise your wife it will get better, and set a date and time. Then, when the promised time comes up, the house catches on fire. Rather than addressing the fire, you stubbornly sit your family down in the burning living room to make good on your promise.

That is the degree of sense you are making. It is such a magnitudinous sign relating to the disconnect between what is going on, and what ANET wants to do.

No. It is nothing like that at all.

Chris

Did you just seriously reply to the guy with the equivalent of “nuh-UH”? He’s right. The house is on fire, and you’re worried about the dripping faucet in the basement bathroom nobody ever uses.

Yes. Yes, he did just respond to someone with the equivalent of “nuh-UH”

Unfortunately for him, the analogy was spot on regardless of how many times he “nuh-UH’s” all over it.

There used to be pigs in the Divinity’s Reach home instance. You could try seeing if they are still there. Other than that, there should still be juveniles in WvWvW mode. If you happen to be lucky enough to start at Overlook, there are some Salamander Drake literally right in front of the entrance. At least, there used to be.

Stuff is getting fixed early next week?

Not good enough. It’s almost impossible to level to level 30 because of an experience bug, and the golem damage bug is ruining WvW mode. This stuff should have been fixed yesterday.

This patch should have never been released. Not only should most of these changes never been in the game in the first place, but the ones that do deserve to be in the game needed to implemented slowly over time. You guys tried to do way too much way too quickly, and you won’t be able to hide it with PR this time. This isn’t just the “usual bugs” that we see in every patch. Some of these bugs are gamebreaking. In fact, with the bugs that I’ve discovered over the last twelve hours, I now classify the 9/9 patch as being the BUGGIEST VERSION in the history of this game. Yes, even buggier than launch.

Nonono. You got it all wrong. They dumbed down their starting zone to CONVINCE the other races that they got stupid. In the meantime, they have perfected golems. Series 7 attack golem on Asura characters does insane amounts of damage now. So, we don’t have any reason to believe that the Asura have gotten any dumber.

Hearts were originally implemented in the game as a way to get players to slow down, spend some time in an area where dynamic events happen.

Actually, hearts were originally added to the game because the clickers and other types complained that they didn’t know what to do. There wasn’t an arrow pointing them to where to go. They didn’t know how to explore. So, Arenanet added the hearts which were easy to find, but apparently not easy enough because a lot of stuff in low level areas just got dumbed down on 9/9

I’d be fine with the no-hearts original version where everything was run by dynamic events.

Nope. Still world-shattering. The longer this patch is out, and the more bugs we are finding out with it, the worse it gets. This is the buggiest patch since the LAUNCH of the game. So, yeah, it’s still the world-shattering Bug Wars 2 version of the game. Sorry to break the news to you.

1) Still horrendous level-scaling issues, unless Anet fixed it when I was asleep.

2) People in their mid to late 20’s are saying that experience is bugged, and they are only getting like 8 experience for doing things. Someone said they leveled cooking from 0-400 and only gained a single level.

3) There is apparently a bug with golems which shoot projectiles. Their damage is way off. I’ve heard that Asura are able to take down gates in WvW mode just by summoning Series 7 elite skill.

So 12 year olds are impatient and think things are dumb.

My teenagers thought everything was dumb. Insurance was dumb. Taxes were dumb. Eating vegetables was dumb. Chic flicks were dumb. Reading was dumb.

I’m not sure what that proves except that you’ve got plenty more years of that to go.

First time I see that Vayne nailed it.-

GW2 is now as fun as insurance, taxes, eating vegetables, etc…

Actually, I think you missed his point entirely. He was saying that Guild Wars should be as boring as doing taxes, and that we should all be perfectly fine with it and not complain about it. I mean, because we all know that we pay taxes for the exact same reasons that we play Guild Wars. It’s not like we play MMO’s to have fun, and that we should actually want to have fun rather than being bored. I mean, don’t you pay taxes because it is fun? I mean, there are just so many similarities between Guild Wars and taxes and the reasons that people engage in these activities. It’s totally not like comparing apples to oranges, or apples to grizzly bears. Nope. Not at all. Vayne is not being even a little bit dishonest or misleading. Nope. Not a bit.

I, for one, play computer games for the exact same reasons that I pay my bills, and I actually expect to get the exact same rewards, experiences, and feelings that I get paying bills that I do when engaging in my personal hobbies and optional entertainment choices like Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2.

There are bugs!

Basically our test servers are the live ones, we are beta testing the game at the moment with our real accounts.

Make no mistake: we are beta testing the game right now. The leveling revamp was a huge project that needed a lot of time and testing to work out balance issues, not to mention the general bugs that you get when you try to make any change to a game of this size. The fact that we have PREDICTABLE scaling issues is a testament to the fact, on top of all of the other “bugs”

For example, did you know that if you go to the profession trainers in Queensdale, they will tell you that you aren’t experienced enough yet to learn traits, even if you talk to them on a level 80 character? I guess the profession trainers in starter zones only see your downscaled level in a similar way to how the new compass system seems to think that everyone is already at level 80

There are so many bugs, they should have found any one of them within five minutes of play testing. Hell, I found a bug within five minutes, and I wasn’t even play testing the game or specifically trying to find bugs in the system. A couple of hours later, and there were at least two more bugs that I came across without even looking for them.

The 9/9 patch wasn’t just bad, it was laughably bad.
