Just make it a shout and give it larger radius, biggest reason it sucks due to radius no control over pet movement so half the time it goes out of range or requires you to cast right after pet swap.

protip: stop spamming RF when a reflect skill is used

Except Mesmer has 100% reflection uptime +spammable when trait for it.
Ele can do the same if they use D/F.
Guardian can bring WoR and kill you easily if they change one of their skills before the match if they see a few rangers.

For warrior, lol they got 2 endure pain, vamparison rune, AND Rampage. If they do have Rampage on, he can pop all stances and wreck you in 3 seconds from 100% to down without you able to retaliate at all. If you SoS is not ready, you’re doomed.
Gl outlasting them when fighting him on a node.

Guess what, those 4 classes appear almost 100% of the time in each matches because they’re the currently most powerful classes.

Engineers have same as Warriors in terms of Survival as well, Elixir S and the Trait Self-Regulating Defenses, Engineers can bring MoA to counter Rampagers or Necro’s DS and Elite’s. Ranger can bring what? Entangle and get it transferred back or just watch the warrior walk right out of it no wait we can bring the new RaO which does what? safe way to stomp someone?

It’s no longer EZ mode idle and spam 2, I’ll give you that much. But, it’s not a dead class by any means. I’m having fun running weapon set ups like:
Long Bow/ Short Bow
Short Bow/ Axe + Warhorn
Long Bow/ Sword + Axe

The only major difference I’ve noticed is that Ranger has to actually work a little more when it comes to killing mesmers and thieves. Before 1 sic’ em is all you needed in conjunction with Rapid Fire.

Sic ‘Em is bugged mate, its alot harder now to beat Mesmers, Thieves depending on their build, I honestly change class if other side has 2 Mesmers its just pointless playing Ranger one is a problem. If your Marauders a good mesmer can almost 1 shot you and that’s with protective ward. This isn’t matter of learn to play you don’t have forever dodge or stone signet. GS block is worthless vs Mesmers even more worthless vs d/p thieves.

Ranger is worthless atm, we require support 24/7 or we are fish food. Even our condition builds are weak.

I knew someone would say this, ok next time I won’t use any of defensive skills and I’ll let him kill me outside of Rampagers.

So what you’re trying to say is when they use the F1 Hammer skill not to dodge it, or when they using there GS gap closers not to dodge it or even better someone else immobilize you and I shouldn’t use my invon I should just eat the damage and die there cause the warrior is trying to bait my defensive skills out. Yes that sounds about as smart as your comment.

And this is why I hate coming to forums.

i don’t know dude. seems like there is a big difference between popping your elite when the enemy has cds and when they don’t. that of course assumes the warrior is paying attention, as if they are it’s an outplay and if not it’s luck.

i’m just commenting on managing enemy cooldowns, i’m not telling you not to dodge earthshaker.

Srsly dude, you must live under a rock or live in a perfect world. You’re going to have skills on CD vs anyone and everyone it doesn’t matter what class you are, there was no baiting involved at all its matter of time. Almost every Warrior pops Rampagers when there buggered and that wasn’t matter of them baiting out cd’s or poor management from the other player.

Rampagers rewards bad players, the Warrior got schooled and in his last hopes pops a skill that rewards him for being bad.

Basically power ranger needs at least 4 things to be fixed (not talking about other builds)
- Remove the full cooldown stow on longbow skills
- Make the greatsword more powerful on the autoattack, imo slice and slash could be sped up that way increasing dps but also making us dodge more quickly.
- Counterattack needs to be sped up too, it’s way too easy too notice the animation and dodge away additionally Pommel Strike range is too short, I think it shouldnt root but be like maul, usable while moving
- Let us cast maul while in the air <3<3<3 plzplzplz anet
- Wilderness survival is mandatory for any ranger build, this is pretty dull they should fix it. aka put empathic bond in beastmastery where it belongs
- All classes have received baseline improvement on their F skills except ranger, we were supposed to get pet stats improvement but nope.
- The 3 minor traits of marksman and the first 2 of squirmishing should be combined and add 2 new ones seriously go look at any elementalist minor traits and tell me in the eyes it’s equal in value…
….

That’s just for power ranger, i’m not talking about traps, spirits, torch, axe…. etc.. which have way more issues than longbow greatsword tbh.

That’s just a start, Ranger’s have so many problems now more then they used to have. I felt stronger last patch as LB/GS ranger, I even felt stronger with my condition build.

There isn’t really single viable build for Ranger anymore. We got some alright builds but compared to other classes we got nothing.

They need to change.

Enlargement – at 25% Active Signet of Stone.

I feel like we are only class doesn’t get the option. Thief/Mes both have teleports/stealth, War/Engi have passive 25% + low CD utilities, you be surprised how big this would be for ranger. Sure it’s more passive play but it would bring our survival way up letting us run more risky builds.

Ranger class is so far behind it’s a joke. The class doesn’t even have single viable build anymore.

Conditions got completely trashed into the ground. Some reason we got worse this patch with our condition builds.

Power the damage output is less and it’s rather funny our survival doesn’t feel any better then used to be.

We have less condition remove options than before.

Everything seems to be bugged.

No Mobility outside of combat.

Lackluster traits, to many traits that require us to be at 50% health.

@mistsim.2748, nice build its close to version I was running, I take shout heal with Resounding Timbre so I have mobility to rotate home/far all game.

I was using Settlers but I found a Mesmers could almost 1 shot me and it was tricky to recover with the daze’s being pumped out.

Also found conditions to be weaker on ranger after nerf to offhand, I wish they would give us the bonfire radius back that was big big nerf.

Why do we have some random guy giving balance proposals to Grouch instead of long-promised Profession Specialists for each forum, I have no idea.

i.e. Weakning Shroud triggering in non-combat. Uh, like it always been?

Like wtf is a problem with it? Isn’t it supposed to work like that, lol…

He’s not a “random guy”, He’s Backpack a very well known engi in the competitive scene and as you can see through the doc, he has a good knowledge of the game and how’s it atm not only ranger.

Backpack is also banned on multiple accounts (forums only) for spamming/trolling. He also rages (quit his AG pugquest team when he was knocked into the losers bracket) and is generally a kitten. I hear worse, but this is only my personal experience with him.

Lets take balance suggestions from him instead of the numerous players who can clearly identify what is lacking from a viewpoint not drowning in angry bias.

+1 he is a troll and a child.

Balance,Ranger is really weak spot, to night I played different classes with a team we faced many rangers and they did nothing and I mean nothing sure few LB/GS Taunt ranger’s was a pain at times but we had too many blocks/reflects/invons for them to be a problem.

Condition ranger’s are so weak, I was playing Shout Guard and I couldn’t feel any pressure even know I was getting stacked. Same went for our Ele just felt no pressure from condition ranger’s. Our necro completely murdered condition ranger’s.

Problem I see for both Power and Condition builds is there slow at appling damage, Power has Maul and Rapid Fire as our main damage, Conditions after nerf to offhands feels so weak. So with way meta is we just don’t have a punch anymore, we needed what we have now last meta this meta we need buffs.

well we don’t have to talk about my build here, the thread is about your build. ive had lots of success running remorseless valk, and it works quite nicely with GS. while id love more GS buffs, I just wanted to say the weapon works really nicely with QZ, SotP and Remorseless. that is all.

QZ is your only real means of a on demand fury.

this is false, there are many ways to get new instances of fury, which is why the build is so strong (along with maxing out ferocity and power).

Yeah let’s keep to build I posted, I’ve been testing Berserker with Ranger runes but mesmer and thieves just blow you up where before with Marauder’s and Travelers (which I hate having to take) I survive and kill the thief. It’s messed up, without that extra HP stealth teleport burst is just to high for me to recover with 16k HP.

It’s only 4% more on critical damage on the multiplier if I’m correct, by using valks you’re giving up loads of damage without the critical chance.

I don’t even see how that is viable, so you’re only going to land a good hit every 20 seconds. What if you miss Hilt Bash? QZ is your only real means of a on demand fury. Game’s too fast for you to ask your target to wait while you cast defensive skill and line up your Hilt Bash followed with Maul.

How do you even do any damage to Cele Ele? I can see how you might do decent damage to other Glass Cannons, but at least they’re putting out tons more damage while keeping decent survival.

I found GS works best with the Remorseless bonus. if ure not mauling someone for 7k then u might as well not maul at all (jk =P)

and yes relying on LB to do damage sucks sometimes. and it’s gonna be reflect galore once elite specs launch, anet went bonkers on reflects. the Mesmer one needs an ICD

Problem with Maul + Remorseless combo, it requires Berserker amulet and Ranger or Scholar runes to land that kind of damage and you can only land that kind of damage every 20 seconds and that’s if you land your Hilt Bash. If the target has protection that’s -33% of your maul which is between 3-4k damage. Out side of maul the greatsword doesn’t really have much pressure. Then you need to add in how much survival you have given up and you put yourself into thick of it, lets face it AoE spam is real.

And that combo is to light armor target, damage values go way down once you add in toughness and armor values like Cele Ele, not sure you could get that type of damage.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not having crack at you about Remorseless, just point of view on the topic. Too much investment for one skill to be on par with other classes.

Greatsword skill need around 50-100% damage increase. If we got boost to the damage outside of traits and gear the weapon would be so solid, has great utility just lacks damage outside of 1 combo.

@mistsim.2748, Problem I’m having atm is there just seems to be boatload of Reflects/Blocks/Invons you name it. I’m speeding half the fight waiting for the target to be hitable.

QZ helps but allot of the time it goes to waste, you pop QZ blast the guy he just pops his blocks/invons and then you have to wait it out. They will always have them off CD on your burst. The only way I’ve been able to get solid spike is using Taunt+QZ its only way for us to really land some big hitters.

Really starting to hate GS again in terms of damage, you compare it to Warrior’s GS and its shocking, E.g. Maul even with buffs your still no way near the damage output from GS warrior.

Sup infantrydiv, dunno about other builds but I’m having perma swiftness and fury with my power ranger build.

When I mean perma I meant literally perma I can stack like 2m swiftness and 30 sec of fury and if I got ripped I can reapply them easily.

The only problem is that I can do it only in combat but I got 1500 range sooooooo it’s really easy imo.

And that’s the problem it’s only in combat. We want out of combat swiftness.

Yea, it’s broken as it is although I wish it stayed unblockable, it probably won’t.

“The Trait “Light on your Feet” currently increases condition duration by 100% rather than the intended 10%. However nerfing this to 10% would make the trait extremely bad. I suggest nerfing it down to around 50% duration to keep it worth using as a Grandmaster Trait. F.”

This one surprised me as well… Didn’t realize it did 100% and it’s still pretty bad because the duration of LOYF makes it pretty bad. Putting it to 10% will be ridiculously horrible.

Funny part is no one uses this trait atm cause its bad lol, so fixing it would just make it worse.

You can get clarion bond to proc through either fall damage or through staying in combat once you respawn which often happens for a brief second.

I agree, when piercing arrows works, it does a ton of damage.

My dream build would be MM, Skirm, BM but with evasive purity in there…

Anet likes to keep us Rangers Dreaming, only Warriors are aloud that. lol

Yeah I’ve just cracked the kittens with ranger mobility, Clarion Bond was meant to be our out of combat swiftness.

Thing I hate about using Clarion Bond before game is, it doesn’t work after respawns. Honestly I’ve tested combo’s like Pack+Clarion bond, tested living crap out of Shout’s but I found unless I take LR/Renewal/Stone which is all my utilities I just couldn’t keep up with the survival side of things which then I loss out on utilities like Spike Trap/Sic Em/QZ even Muddy.

If I had to change anything within the build it would be mobility but I’ve got no idea how I can get effective out of combat swiftness.

Piercing with your arrows on cleave isn’t the easiest thing. When it works, it works, however when the bodies go down the most important thing a ranger can do is CC. All you have to do is cleave the corpse and then wait until the stab of the rezzers is gone and then CC them and you win. OR you can CC potential rezzers before the targets goes down either with PBS, taunt, or entangle. This is especially because most people won’t rez without some sort of quickness or invuln anyway.

LtW definitely has its pros but I don’t think they are worth it. Comparatively, the guaranteed crits and extra damage from remorseless is better imo. With remorseless you don’t really need intelligence sigil (I don’t think you need it anyway even with LtW).

As for the traveler runes, if you are running clarions bond why not just take the fall damage out of spawn to get the swiftness from the trait instead of using a rune for it?

Always follow PBS with an auto when running MoC.

Some of my thoughts.

This is why we always been different Eura when comes to builds, remorseless is weaker in team fights by long way imo. Ranger’s best damage comes from range not GS that’s too easy to kite and block and put you in bad positioning if I wanted to go melee take a warrior or thief they do decent melee damage. Ltw’s for team fights and if your backpoint just take Condition Survival build.

Clarion Bond doesn’t work out of combat. After using Shout Heal, traited you come to understand how important having big up time on mobility outside combat is. Only other set of runes I would take are Ranger, but until we get mobility no point.

@starbreath.8597, I used to live by Healing Spring, but it’s currently bugged and last thing you want is your pet taking too much burst and dying. Would I take it even if they fixed it depends on team comp, if we have great deal of blasts then probably but I used to combo Sword/Horn with it back in Spirit Meta leap + Blast was just to effective. Reason I don’t use Eagle is rather simple Owl/Raven does 2x more damage on their F2 so if I plan to help burst down a target it’s far more effective to land 5k with damage from my pet rather than 3k.

@FrownyClown.8402, ran the hell out of Sic Em, until they fix the bug it’s just not worth taking.

@Elorna.5329, I don’t always use QZ some games if I know what other side is running I might change, as it stands Trolls/LR/Stone/Entangle are my staples for this build, QZ is a great skill now but there still other skills out there I don’t mind using like Spike Trap is really strong and Sic Em once it’s fixed (Sic Em majorly counters D/P Thieves).

Now QZ does work really well with Search and rescue, but the investment is rather large. If you’re with decent players you shouldn’t need to blow your QZ and require a trait to get people up.

@StickerHappy.8052, If we dueled I probably take cheap a/d – s/t bunker conditions with birds and crap load of evades/regen lol. I personally hate dueling these days used to do it allot and make videos but it’s got nothing on Team Que’s.

I just want them to fix ranger bugs tbh, how good do you think Hilt Bash would be if it actually worked the way it’s meant to. I’ve done tests with Sic Em, if you could use any of birds skills “F2” it’s rather impressive damage.

I feel Ranger/Mesmer with Guard support is best combo. This build takes down Zerker Warriors rather fast they are forced to pop Rampagers or overextend which puts them in bad position. The only class I have problems against is D/P Thieves, but if your apart of a Team and on Com’s not hard to ask for peels.

@Elorna.5329, if I was defending home or pushing far then I would drop MM trait line completely and take QD and refocus the build around 1v1 and survival. But I believe that’s completely different build and roll. This build is more pressed towards team fights 2v2 3v3 so on.

@Elorna.5329, don’t get me wrong I do like the hound/wolf combo, but the style and way I play I like having the burst pet, I believe is vital part to making the build work. It’s all about the timing of when and where to use a pet.

@TheDynasty.4672, I plan to make more once more bug’s are addressed and balance is more stable atm very limited to what works and what will work in the future.

@Elorna.5329, I was tempted to run Hound + Wolf, Owl is for burst and Wolf is for control. Fear saves lives in team fights.

Many times, back when I was full time on team soon as we downed a target I used to fear or if someone on my team was downed we would fear, this allows for easier stomp or res.

Hi, recently I’ve been working on build to fit in a Team Comp rather than Yolo Que hero build that doesn’t really work the best with team setups. I’m sure many Ranger’s have found this build or running something similar.

The trait is working as intended you need stab and stun breakers to counter it.

Who knew, now pets are useful people would QQ so much, have you tried killing the pet first, isn’t hard in this meta. Pro’s and Con’s to everything just everyone complains rather then thinking oh wait if I do this I’ll have no problem.

Evades, now lets talk about this. Question is how do you evade something that is instant cast and you have no idea when it will hit? Does this mean your Random Dodging and getting punished for it?

Ranger is weakest class atm if you take away Taunt and we are completely useless. We will have nothing left to bring to team comps.

Today I was doing some training with my friend, he killed my pet off really fast and then killed me while decapping the point, who knew using your brain would help.

In terms of Power builds. We are the weakest, it requires allot of work and skilled plays for us to deal the damage. (Everyone thinks all we do is 1-2-4)

In terms of Condition builds. I wouldn’t even bother, outside of 1v1 you lack damage. You won’t be able to beat fair amount of builds 1v1 (unable to kill them). You’re going to get decapped so there really isn’t any point.

Your best bet is to team up with Cele Ele or Bunker Shout Guard and play off there Support, you will shine rather well.

If your doing Solo Que just play Power and hope to god you don’t get focused.

Agreed, I don’t understand why Clarion Bond doesn’t work outside of combat this was meant to be the game changer for Rangers we asked for out of combat swiftness we got the feeling this was the Trait that was going to help us, turns out it wasn’t.

Agreed, I don’t understand why Clarion Bond doesn’t work outside of combat this was meant to be the game changer for Rangers we asked for out of combat swiftness we got the feeling this was the Trait that was going to help us, turns out it wasn’t.

Bug – Hilt Bash, has the range of 300 but only lands the attack within 150 range.

I’ve tested vs the Auto-Attack and Maul, Maul has 220 range and Hilt Bash 300, Hilt Bash can’t hit from 220 range it seems to have same range as auto attack.

Please fix.

After playing rather solidly for past week, I have list of traits that aren’t going to see the light of day. I will list the trait’s I’ve tried many builds starting to find some niche setups.

Marksmanship

  • Enlargement – I feel you should change it to Signet of Stone, it’s just not worth taking in its current state I tried using it but just didn’t seem to help.
  • Predator’s Onslaught – The 10% bonus to damage really doesn’t do much at all, I’ve tested it with different weapons and my pet’s. Not sure how you could fix this trait but currently the 10% isn’t noticeable.

Skirmishing

  • Strider’s Defense – Just plan useless, no build or reason to take this trait.
  • Most Dangerous Game – After fair amount of testing, might stacking felt rather useless damage boost wasn’t noticeable. Required us to be at 50% health which in this current meta is death sentence for rangers. Duration of the might is to low even tried stacking with NM and Runes, just wears off rather fast. Required you to take MM/SM/NM so no condition remove to make it effective. Really needs improvement, stop making traits for ranger that require us to be on 50% health there not useful and they get us killed.

Wilderness Survival

  • Expertise Training – needs the Attribute Adjusted to 750, with how conditions scale now pet’s do extremely bad condition damage its so low I can’t even find a skill in the game that does so little damage.
  • Poison master – Needs to change trait lines, it can’t compete with our condition removal traits just not going to happen.

Nature Magic

  • Instinctive Reaction – Change it to scale off vitality or toughness and not healing power. This trait is only really useful in Power builds, you need rather large investment into Healing Power to make it effective which won’t happen unless your playing bunker and there is no real need for more power.
  • Invigorating Bond – Won’t ever get used, I tried my hardest to use this trait but we can’t control our pet’s movement. Radius is far to small change it to 600 already, also change it to shout so we can start making proper support bunker builds that offer our teammates some support.

Beastmaster

  • Companion’s Might – Bleeds are now worthless, pet’s don’t have much condition damage so there scaling is completely wrecked.
  • Honed Axes – Is in a rather bad state I’ve tried using this trait but it doesn’t really do much for condition builds. Can’t compete with current GM in this trait line.

Taunt doesn't let you target

Other classes will receive taunt but i think on ranger pet is very strong cuz you’re forced to hit a pet instead of a player.

I think general effect is fine but You need to fix the fact it goes through evaded, invul, block etc.

It’s too strong right now

I play Ranger allot and use the new Taunt allot, sure it shouldn’t go throw evades and invuls. I don’t see single problem with blocks, Thieve’s dagger #3 goes throw blocks and way more spammable then taunt so whats the problem.

All this QQ about Taunt when Ranger is still the worse class to take in TPvP compared to other classes.

@mistsim.2748, yeah I would say be able to class it as a Roamer, I’ve mixed things up with my Shoutbow build same traits but I’ve been testing out different utilities.

Spike trap, has a place in Power build but its 50/50 some games not as effective some game extremely effective.

Sic Em, even know it’s bugged and you don’t get the damage. But it’s helping heaps vs stealth to point where I land Taunt+Rapid Fire, with extra damage from bird it wrecks them.

I also dropped GS for S/D turns out its bloody good vs so many classes in meta atm, I’m living throw burst which GS had no chance of countering and don’t need to worry about the Counter-Attack being proc’d by Ai anymore and D/P thieves just spamming #3 to counter GS completely.

Sic Em Buggy ?

Nice find, I’ve recently been using Sic Em in combo with Taunt to kill thieves rather fast. Had no idea was removing the buff, I knew something was wrong as the pet’s damage was sub par. Without hitting a skill the pet hits hard.

Can you out damage a Warrior in a team fight who can take down any class with there massive crits?

no we don’t bring more damage, but you can stunlock the warrior and kill him once his invuln is up. zerker warriors crumple pretty quickly when spiked, you just have to watch his cooldowns.

do you have mobility and escape and traits? What happens if you start getting trained down you pop stone signet and LR what now? your out of all your save me skills.

i run with 3 stunbreakers and BW of course. QZ is my favourite because you can cleanse, stunbreak, and just gtfo. brown bear is also neat for the cleanse + Protect Me combo

Where does this leave you as a Power build?

the build i use is versatile in every situation. i can contest points, roam, spike or lockdown people.

Bunker conditions, trying to play role of roamer/home point. Now compare yourself to other classes that can fill the roll? what makes you think you can do the job better?

bunker condi isn’t in a good shape post patch, i agree. i was really sad about this.

Was rather disappointed with how little damage that build does, felt way too focused around landing Maul, longbow damage was rather low vs targets with protection it was almost waste of time. Also I can’t live without Refined Toxins, it’s just too strong it always applies on pet swap. It’s like having doom sigil on both weapons and my pet.

Not sure how that build would fit into Team comp, but once again each to there own if works for you then cools just not my style of play.

I liked the Bear and Protect Me combo I will be testing that out, I was trying to find a way to make that work.

Also I’ve fallen for Spike Trap, lost some utility but it helps me majorly with countering and controlling the fight.

When comes to SPvP, ranger is fun and alright for Solo Que. But when you start building team comp, playing as a team Ranger becomes useless.

Power, just doesn’t cut it high tier at all and it’s to do with the type of burst we do, most of it is channeled or highly telegraphed. When you factor in the amount of access classes have to “save me skills/traits” and “support boons” ranger starts to fall short. We count on 2 skills to do all our main damage, Maul and Rapid Fire now if you’re a decent player you know to dodge these 2 skills, sure there are times you can land these 2 skills but more than often you miss or your rapid fire hits the target to 2k damage.

Question you need to ask yourself why would your team take you over Mesmer which has higher burst decent survival has great team utilities in terms of Portal plays and can shatter boons (removes protection) so they can land the big plays. Ask yourself what makes you better than a thief, they can rotate from point to point land big burst on low-life targets. Can you kill the new Cele Ele? that’s no brainer you have no chance! (Stone Heart). Can you out damage a Warrior in a team fight who can take down any class with there massive crits? do you have mobility and escape and traits? Where does this leave you as a Power build?

As it stands the better option is to run a Cele Ele, why? team support it’s that simple it’s not matter of how much damage you do or how good your survival is you just can’t support your team mate’s.

So what does that leave us? do we bring Power build to backpoint. Let’s say you do and you’re in 2v2 and other guy is decent survival but requires your support, how are you going to support him. What happens if you start getting trained down you pop stone signet and LR what now? your out of all your save me skills.

So as much as we like to think we are in good place we are far from it, we decent for Solo Que and you can thank MMR for that other side if not pre-made will be mix of decent players and newbies same with your team. Now not saying don’t have fun and enjoy the Ranger class but until dev’s get real feedback from us they won’t change anything. Also stop saying I can beat this and beat that, there are many newbies racing around with same build as top tier players and it’s completely different ballgame when you face same build in hands of a pro.

No Ranger’s ESL again, why because we have no real roll.

Other classes do each roll better. When you design team comp for TPvP you design it around rolls.

So you question the builds as whole and what team support they bring how effective they are in 1v1 2v2 team fights how mobile how good is there escape how good is there burst.

When you add up the options where does the Ranger really fit in I’m having hard time finding a roll for the class.

Now, I was pulled by engineer and the thief just capped me. That’s bit to strong don’t you think.

There are a lot of factors to weigh in, before you can say something is too strong. What we can’t see it, did you have vulnerability? Did the thief have might stacks? Was he full glass (zerker, da/cs, etc).

Honestly I couldn’t tell you I died so fast I didn’t have time to stop and look at my conditions. I was insta-gibbed from stealth with 0 ways to counter play.

I for one don’t believe any class no matters what should be able to put that kind of damage out from a single attack, wouldn’t be so bad if it was telegraphed attack like (Kill Shot or Maul) as you can see them coming. But what I don’t get is how can anyone defend that kind of damage, there is no counter play.

Sorry but I know the patch is just new and there are balance problems and major bugs (Engineer Nades). But we have to point out the problems so dev’s can “balance/fix” so we don’t have repeats of the same problem down the track.

The problem has to be addressed across all classes, if you stop and think about it if the fixed some of major problems we are seeing with insta-gibs do you really think things would be this bad, builds that currently getting wrecked all of sudden become more viable.

Really can’t stand people trying to judge other people, honestly I’ve been playing un-viable class for past year and I rarely complain, I deal with it. So if they can balance classes across the board, I’m not talking gut the burst I enjoy this meta more than last meta. But there are few skills on every class that you can tell are just too strong.

So think about it once the dust settles there won’t be many viable builds left it will be limited few builds, insta gib comps and we will have repeat of the last year where its same few classes and builds ruling the meta.

SPvP Point of View.

Power Ranger. (LB/GS)

  • Survival is allot better but every single LB/GS build has to take Lightning Relfexs and Signet of Stone, leaving us with very little option to take damage modifiers like Signet of the Hunt and Signet of the Wild. Normally you would take Signet of Renewal, as you need full condition clear.
  • Greatsword, low damage. It requires Signet of the Hunt/ Signet of the Wild/ Quickening Zephyr and Remorseless to land a maul, due to being highly telegraphed its almost always dodged, it require far to much investment to land 1 decent hit then back to waiting on long CD before we can do decent damage, without this combo Maul does sub-par damage. Counterattack would be decent if it didn’t counter attack Ai, also thieves completely counter Greatsword (Dagger #3). Swoop, will miss the target most of the time due to pathing (if the ground isn’t flat you will miss).
  • Signet of Stone, very long CD forces us to Trait for Brutish Seals, so we can’t take Steady Focus or Moment of Clarity.
  • Clarion Bond, should work out of combat at least then our Power builds have swiftness with around 50% upkeep.

Condition Survival.

  • Decent Survival, no real complaint.
  • Conditions applied are rather solid.
  • Torch, lost its radius after just being buffed. This was majorly disappointing as it’s current radius is useless.

Trap Ranger.

  • Rather bad survival.
  • Trap’s are decent, but we only have room for 2 traps, 3rd utility is taken up by Lightning Reflexes or Signet of Renewal for on demand immobilize/stun breaker.
  • There is still no middle ground between survival and conditions, if you try to spec for both you become too weak in terms of damage output and your survival lack’s. This is all due to Traps requiring 3 utility slots.

Spirit Ranger.

  • Survival is decent.
  • Spirit survival is completely null and void they die extremely fast.
  • Boon’s applied have no real effect.
  • Support is very poor, compared to other support classes/builds there
  • You only have room for 2 spirit’s in your utilities, other slot requires lightning Reflexes or Signet of Renewal.
  • Spirit Heal is lack luster compared to the other heals. Active effect radius is too small to be a decent team support heal.

Beastmaster.

  • Solid survival.
  • Good condition damage.
  • Pet’s are 50/50, they have pathing issues and don’t seem to attack very often unless the target is locked down.
  • Pet damage is good.
  • Has no team support at all. So it won’t every be viable in top tier, other classes provide better team support. If Invigorating Bond would offer decent support but the Radius is very small compared to other classes, it’s rather hard to control location of your pet so most of the time your team mate won’t receive the heal.

Elites

  • Entangle, most classes have almost no problem vs Entangle. The root’s die extremely fast.
  • Strength of the pack, isn’t very useful most of the time you’re using it to stomp a target or res someone. Your pet doesn’t really land many attacks to make might stacking worth it with the new window of 10 seconds to apply. Just change might stacks to damage modifier.
  • Spirit of Nature, no complaint it works the same as always.

We still have same problems vs some classes. This is due to builds normally being forced to take to much survival or damage, resulting in we lack survival or damage. It’s rather painful in order for us to kill some classes we require damage but to get the type of damage we require we lose out on taking survival which results in death vs that same class.

Will we be viable after meta settles. Top Tier (No), Low Tier (Yes)

  • Lack mobility outside of combat. (Engineers get perma swiftness)
  • Our Support builds lack team support. (Beastmaster/Condition Survival/Spirits).
  • Power builds can’t compete with other burst builds in terms of damage.
  • Conditions builds are solid but are too focused on dueling 1v1.

Hopefully this helps.

P.S, while running Protective Ward, I took 14k hit from a Enigneer Nades, 10 Crit from Rampagers Warrior, 7.5k Backstab with 3-4k damage from Sigil procs and almost 1 shot by shatter mesmer.

@Momekic.8603, I’m just talking about d/p thieves atm, I’m honestly over hearing all the QQ fact is d/p atm hits extremely hard if you combo that with say anyone else its insta gib time.

I’m not going to get into topic about this needs to be done or this needs to be done, fact is allot of skills across many classes are broken atm and bugged. So we can’t really complain until things are toned down.

To be honest, thief is trash right now. Even with DA/SA/Tr builds. If you lose to a thief right now then you really need to learn to play. Thief is prettymuch only good at being a +1 now. If you fight them on their own they are pretty easy to blow up. ANet took away their survivability.

I agree, getting hit for 7.5k from stealth and having Fire/Air proc taking 10k of your life then spamming #3 #1 over and over getting your Fire/Air proc is definitely learn to play issue, people need to learn how to see a stealthed thief coming and dodge there burst.

Few tips for people making builds using Taunt, you want to try and pair the Beastly Warden with melee ranged F2’s. You have better control of your Taunt, if you’re using a ranged F2 you have to wait for your pet to get into melee range using F1 before you can effectively land Taunt or it will just cast Taunt at range missing the target. This doesn’t mean you can’t use ranged F2’s, just its more effective to pair Taunt with melee range F2’s.

Empathic Bond useless with Condi Stacking

Empathic Bond is really strong, problem is you must always pair it with Signet of Renewal. Your never going to get the best of both worlds, if you just pair it with Renewal and you get condition bombed just use Renewal.

Also we have Evasive Purity and Healing Spring. That right there is allot of condition remove, also E.g. you’re running a dps build look into Runes of Lyssa thee ICD lines up with our Elites if spec’ed for.

Eb+Renewal+Lyssa is hell of allot of condition remove, if your still having problems take Sigil of Generosity.

Also conditions are getting there math’s shaved back across the board.

We also have WK if you want more direct on the spot condition remove.
