Yes, one of the builds I was thinking of (but wasn’t my cup of tea).

The only thing I might ask:
Did you feel like Sigil of Intelligence for GreatSword is not needed? I believe it would give that bonus smack on burst reliability of the weapon.

I was planning on giving Intelligence a try over Leeching, I was going to run Energy/Leeching but I just haven’t found the need for extra dodge roll yet.

I will try Intelligence today, I’ve kinda been playing insane amount atm que’ing allot. E.g. It’s 8:30am and I still haven’t had dinner from last night lol had allot coffee and smoke breaks. Power nap this afternoon then back at it. Plan to enjoy ranger while it lasts.

I like the build, I run something similar. I prefer WK, LR and QZ over signets and EB because u get way more on-demand cleanses and offensive power. but I do have to run brown bear for additional cleanses, it works quite nicely.

im glad others are seeing the utility we have now with BW.

Yeah, we all have our own style of play. I found I had better condition remove using EB+Renewal, but I didn’t use Entangle or QZ. I won’t get into debate about EB vs WK my views are some what different to others.

Reason I don’t use Entangle, it’s really just AoE immobilize and everyone has some skill or trait to counter it. I would use it with condition builds.

QZ its a 50/50 for me, not sure what I would give up on my skill bar, Renewal + Stone are just to good to pass up.

Also I’m running the Shout Heal and trait so RaO is a better option. “Bird on Roids” should be the new name.

Edit, also I’m glad you see how powerful Taunt+Rapid Fire is, the options and plays you can do with Taunt is unreal.

Hi, I’ve been playing a ShoutBow build which I’m sure many others have tried or found, I will try my best to break down the build part by part.

Build Link: ShoutBow

I will start off by talking about reasoning behind using Resounding Timbre and Empathic Bond over Wilderness Knowledge, firstly I’m using “We heal as one!” as my heal and to gain out of combat swiftness, mobility is key and the recent meta’s have shown if you can’t keep up you will get left behind. I combo my healing skill with Vampirism Runes to give me decent burst heal on a 16 second cooldown. This plays big role in keeping my pets alive.

Resounding Timbre’s almost gives you permanent upkeep of regeneration which combo’s with Oakheart Salve, might not seem like much but the damage reduction is noticeable with the new Bark Skin trait.

So you should now have bit of understanding behind the synergy between some of the traits in terms of survival. So you might think is Empathic Bond and Signet of Renewal won’t be able to handle this current condition meta this is where you are wrong. I won’t go into to much detail as many already know how Empathic Bond works. Signet of Renewal is your save me card when you are condition bombed. This requires better pet management so watching positioning of your pet and using your F3(Return to Me) is a must. Get used to commanding your pet rather than letting them run wild. I rarely die to conditions, if I die it’s to burst or poor plays.

You also want to keep your health above 90% as much as you can which is rather easy, at first I was worried with how much burst/conditions are going around but due to being at range most fights you’re able to control damage intake rather easy. Bark Skin really supports your pet while in combat.

Signet of Stone, how to use it effectively. Due to running Vampirism Runes you don’t want to ever use Signet of Stone until Mist Form has proc’d, which will proc at 4k health. This gives you a insanely long escape from burst, sure condition might get you but they aren’t the real threat atm its having thief/mesmer train you to death from stealth. This combo will stop class’s from being able to land big openers. Normally I will let myself go into Mist Form come out right into Signet of Stone followed with RaO and my Heal and try to counter burst. Doesn’t always go to plan but most of the time I have little to no drama, you also have Lightning Reflexes which most of the time will save you from getting bursted down extremely fast.

Last tip for fighting Ranger’s using similar build, let them waste their Signet of Stone first this will almost always end in your favor.

Raven’s, this one was no brainer. They are one of if not our best burst pet, now with changes to Beastmaster trait line your birds are on ROIDS. Key to making your birds work effectively, is the timing and use of the F2 skill and traits. If you haven’t used the new trait Taunt I suggest you give it a try it’s extremely effective at many rolls.

Taunt can be used in the following areas.

  • Help line up spike combo’s with team mates. ( Call target, Taunt target. Team mates unload there burst/conditions, works best with Ranged or Teleport damage.) While you unload Rapid Fire, try not to knock back the target save that for peels or interrupting vital skills.
  • Peel mobs of targets off a friendly getting trained.
  • Interrupting skills, (I’ve interrupted the Guards Elite using Taunt).
  • Stop people from reviving their team mate and stop people from cleaving or stomping a team mate.
  • Counter bursting a target, E.g. Thief Stealth teleports to you, pet swap into F2 and you will disable the thief allowing you to counter burst with Rapid Fire + Point Blank Shot.
  • You can pull people out of stealth, when a thief uses there house skill you can taunt them into attacking breaking there stealth. Great way to stop groups of people from stealthing.

These are just some of ways you can use Taunt, with it being on 15 second cooldown you have rather high up-time on making plays for your team.

Taunt with Rapid Fire is your main combo (goto Golems and test the combo), try to use Point Blank Shot and Barrage as defensive skills (peels/control) or interrupts.

That should cover most of the build, now I can’t explain every detail allot comes down to player skill. Positioning and timing of skills is key, when it comes to fighting other classes once again player skill. Fighting some builds atm or classes does require higher skill cap but once you get hang of things it becomes allot easier.

Build is fresh fun to play, hope you enjoy and the meta is still early game so much will change over time.

Not sure if this is 100% a bug but it’s not working as intended.

My pet doesn’t get Call of the Wild (Buffs) from Clarion bond pet-swap.

So you’re in combat pet-swap and the trait clearly says nearby allies, my pet does not receive the buffs from Call of the Wild.

Is this a bug or does the pet spawn after the Clarion bond goes active.

This is why Ranger’s don’t get time of day from the Dev’s none stop stupid ideas that seem to be biased towards the players personal play style. Stop face tanking and learn to dodge and position yourself better its rather simple.

Starting to get sick of none stop Ranger balance/qq posts that are completely useless and have no value to them at all.

Regardless of whether or not we have other methods, doesn’t mean one of them cannot be improved or adjusted to make it as good as the other methods we or other classes have.

I highly doubt this is the reason Ranger doesn’t get the time of day from the Devs. You only have to look at the changes made to Ranger to see that they actually do read our forum, because many of the changes had preciously been suggested. Even if the ideas had not been suggested or used before, brainstorming is a part of every creative process and ANet would definitely engage in that as well. You are going to get some bad suggestions, sure, but many will be viable and interesting.

Comments such as “Stop face tanking and learn to dodge and position yourself better its rather simple.” serve no purpose except to make you look like an elitist idiot. Not everyone has the same capabilities or even low enough ping to be able to play like that.

If you are “Starting to get sick of none stop Ranger balance/qq posts that are completely useless and have no value to them at all.” then you must be quite sick of the forum as a whole, why not just stay away? Also, quite ironic that your post is, as well, useless and has no value at all.

Cool story you should write a book. Call it “Clueless” maybe even make your own TV show.

agreed with everything. that’s a great suggestion to make IB competitive. my suggestion for WD to make OH axe a competitive offhand:

compress the channel and its damage into a 2-3 second cast and allow us to move while channeling. keep everything else the same. this simple change on its own would entirely fix OH axe. there isn’t a single scenario in this game for which we’d need to channel a reflect for 5 seconds, it makes no sense.

it’d be great if we kept this topic bumped because we haven’t had one on OH axe yet and I wanted to make one. they really need to see this feedback.

Yeah, also with the new changes to swiftness and movement skills, WD would be classed as movement skill meaning you won’t get swiftness, if we got swiftness while moving might become bit game breaking.

Whirling Defense

  • The cast time is way just to long.
  • Allow us to cast the skill while moving.

cast time is good when u see it as a defensive skill and not as an weak offensive skill

This might be useful in PvE, but having long cast time and locking you in place will get you killed in PvP.

Nade Spammers and LB Rangers are only real classes you will counter using #5 other then that just makes you sitting duck for melee burst.

Hi, first off I would like to say I’m really impressed with the changes to Ranger so far. Thanks heaps I hope we continue to see improvements to Ranger class so I will start off with few Trait’s and Weapon skills that never got addressed but have problems.

Invigorating Bond

  • Should be changed to a Shout.
  • Radius needs to be bigger.

Why, Ranger lacks team support. Taking Sigil of Renewal is more effective then taking IB and a sigil should never out class a grandmaster trait. Changing IB to a shout would open up support builds.

Synergy between Resounding Timbre and Invigorating Bond, IB now becomes a strong team support grandmaster trait. IB wouldn’t become overpowered as pet selection for the team fight’s would still define the build and with the new changes to beastmaster traits pet swap will always be 15 seconds and 20% recharge to pet skills plays a big factor into how IB works.

Hunter’s Shot

  • Boon, should be changed to cripple (cripples the target)rather than swiftness to our pet.

Why, synergy with the trait lines and Hunter’s Shot is used as a defensive skill.

Counterattack great skill, but in its current state has some key problems.

  • Counterattack does not proc on Ai.

Why, currently it’s breaking allot of counter play for the Ranger, is very frustrating when you press #4 (Counterattack) and within that seconds an Ai hits you canceling the block and hitting the Ai rather than the player which was your intended target. It completely removes any chance of counter play. Most classes already have unblockable skills which offer counter play to block. Just in its current state its more punishing than it effective.

Whirling Defense

  • The cast time is way just to long.
  • Allow us to cast the skill while moving.

Why, once again synergy between the trait lines and well in it’s current state no one will ever use the skill.

The new Honed Axes would open up new builds using Axe/Axe.

Hopefully the Dev’s take the time to read my post, might as well fix everything while you’re at it.

Once again thanks for great changes to Ranger so far, greatly improved our chances in PvP.

Edit Almost forgot, Axe auto-attack resets Might duration to the duration of the Auto, E.g. pet swap trait. Seems like a bug, this will need to be fixed or it’s going to effect some of trait changes we received this coming patch. It’s like you wanted us to counter ourselves lol.

Been waiting to hear your feedback Eura…

Are you still planning on running glassbow at this stage, or does something else look of interest?

Lb/gs is my preferred weapon set so glassbow looks highly appealing. Yet all the changes are finally opening things up that I will have to try. Glassbow will be highly dependent on how good other profs are…
Regardless of the build I think this might finally give us a fighting chance in the meta. Not THE meta but we should be competitive from what I have seen. At that point it becomes skill > build… Yay!

But do beware of the incoming roaming overbuffed mesmer (reflection spamming, god-tier shatter), engi (basically god-tier now), and thief (another overbuffed profession that doesn’t need it.. New acrobatic looks terrifying to power ranger)

Well, we will surely win Necro post patch though :P

Mesmer = Not sure yet will have to wait and see.

Engineer = We got given the counter traits, I think we will be strongest vs Engineer coming meta.

Thief = No idea, we will have to wait and see. I have good feeling vs thieves but, before I was missing few key traits now I don’t have that problem.

The Vigor change is big hit to allot of classes and ranger can now apply weakness allot so keep that in mind, this is why I think we will be strong vs engineers.

@Tragic Positive.9356, for SB users it might be a problem, but I find you spend more time in melee range as 600 range is nothing and with all gap closer’s honestly placing traps at your feet really isn’t a problem. On how bad the change really is we will find out patch day.

@Heimskarl Ashfiend.9582, if you don’t want to Wilderness Survival you can take combo’s like Healing Spring, Natures Renewal, Lightning Reflexes, Evasive Purity, Spirit of Nature, there are also Sigils and Runes but I try to not include them.

MDG is really good skill for burst builds, the amount of times in PvP your below 50% health is very common, E.g. thief will put you below 50% in seconds of jumping you if there decent, normally you try to escape spamming skills now all you will do is hit signet of stone and counter burst them, remember Enlargement gives you 25% more damage and between bonus might between signets and MDG your going to murder targets rather fast. The counter combo I see is you will use Quickening Zephyr to clear any blinds or stuns which normally get applied on openers then follow with your Greatsword combo’s.

Now you don’t need to combo MDG with marksmanship you could completely forget about Skirmishing and go with Beastmaster and counter combo using the F2 traits and just maul them with fast petswap or you could take Zephyrs Speed on pet swap and rapid fire them.

There are many options start thinking outside the box, this time round they gave us some real trait synergy.

[Balance] What went wrong

Hi, I see things differently on few topics on your post some I agree with some and I think you’re completely overlooking allot and want the best of both worlds rather then it being balanced.

First off I’ll start with.

Traps – They got major buff, now don’t take this wrong way but your complaining about Trap runes come on mate that is just plain stupid they have nothing to do with Ranger class there rune set. That aside now at first I figured losing being able to throw the traps would be a problem but when you take look at some of the other trait lines I can see some major combo’s you can pull off using the traps.

Traps will be doing more damage and buff to Spike/Frost trap was rather big, you can combo that with other trait lines rather well hint “beastmaster”. Traps will become meta again and be rather strong, they will lose their effectiveness I believe in team fight’s with buffs to Bunker Guard getting more condition remove and more effective ways to heal there team but that is fine its apart of the game.

Spirits – I honestly don’t know if they will be any better or worse off, terms of PvE don’t really care about PvE and WvW same goes there. In terms of SPvP well I’m unsure I can see them being useful but at same time useless can’t really say till they release the patch and it’s been tested.

Damage modifiers – This didn’t effect PvP side of the game, maybe PvE side but that’s about it, they gave us more damage with better trait synergy in terms of PvP.

Condition Cleanse – I don’t understand this one, we have some of if not best self-condition remove in the game. With Trolls becoming Survival skill and Quickening Zephyr getting a change we will have killer Survival build with loads of condition remove.

Healing Spring changes as well “Trapper’s Expertise: Boons and conditions caused by your traps last 60% longer. Your traps recharge 20% faster and your offensive traps cause 2s of cripple.”

Just take look at all our options of condition remove honestly we got more.

Moment of Clarity – I agree is weak, with any other weapon but it’s no longer a grandmaster, so we don’t need to treat it the same anymore. From what I can see between trait line synergy they have given us some really strong builds for GS, both Predator’s Onslaught and Remorseless will fit into melee builds really well. I can see people rocking GS – S/H builds using Marksmanship/Wilderness Survival/Beastmaster. It will be one of many builds that will be able to run.

Strider’s Defense – Agreed.

Light on Your Feet – Agreed.

Most Dangerous game – This trait is a great trait we can combo it with Enlargement from marksmanship and Brutish Seals and Predator’s Onslaught, that’s a rather massive damage boost.

They have given us different options to apply burst damage. We won’t fully know the outcome until they release the patch but so far looks good.

Poison Master – Agreed it will never ever get used again.

Invigorating Bond – Agreed, also they need to improve the range to 600.

Honed Axes – Agreed. Trait won’t get used much maybe in niche build.

Going back to Damage modifiers, seen as almost every ranger is required to take Wilderness Survival now, you might want to take look at, Refined Toxins: While you are above 90% health your strikes inflict 6s of poison. While your pet’s health is above 90% its strikes inflict 6s of poison. This trait has a 10 second internal cool down. Can’t say if it will be super effective in some fight vs things like Retaliation, but we will see.

I dont even main ranger and I have 0 problem vs Thieves as Condi (Survival) or Power Ranger.

Sorry, but this is definenately a L2P issue. I normally dont say this but everyone seems to crawl out of their cave since one troll started asking for Thief-nerfs, everyone now does.

U have a big counter called “Channeling Skill Following Through Stealth” and others vs Thieves..

A Ranger complaining about a Thief.. doesn’t get through my head..

Condition ranger should beat the current thief meta builds.

Power ranger shouldn’t, a good d/p-sb thief has all the right counter skills to take us down.

E.g. you are 1500 from the main fight doing your pew pew, thief can get to you in ruffly 1-3 seconds, once the gap is closed it becomes rather hard to land LB skills so unless you land your KB or Stealth your forced to change weapon to GS which is where you get punished the most, not sure if many are aware of this build #3 on dagger counters our #5 completely, once you change into GS and hit your block skill to escape or counter play all the thief needs to do is #3 it will damage me and blind me right through the block making the counter attack miss completely, now all the thief needs to do is play his evades on our big hits which you can see mile away then blind and repeat combo’s, due to high damage ranger uses his stone signet and that is our final card. If we can’t escape the thief’s attacks its just matter of time. This is where team mates come into play if we don’t get peels its game over.

This is a L2P issue on the thieves side not the rangers side. I could go on with list of combo’s the thief can do to counter most LB/GS rangers but once again L2P issue on the thieves side not the ranger.

Doesn’t matter how good of LB/GS ranger you are, even if you catch the thief off guard he has the right skills as long there not on CD, to escape reset and come punish you.

Edit, just like to note I’m not overly worried about thief’s as its team game and there is really not point to complaining about balance when a complete revamp of traits is about to be released.

Expansion giving us Guild/Team LB for Stronghold only, because that’s a “GvG”.

There won’t be a Team/Guild Leaderboard for Conquest.

PvP community has been asking for very long time now for Team Leaderboards, the player base wants a reason to start a team, we are pushed towards just casual solo play or que with friends.

When a big event happens pugs group up and start a team to fill the tourney rooster. You might think ESL and WTS solves this problem but they are more of a event, there needs to be reason for team’s to start and push towards becoming top team.

I for one have been waiting from release of GW2 for a Team leaderboard format, just seems weird nothing was ever been done seen as the current game mode is conquest.

Nice, I also play celec BM with 2 birds on my spvp build.

It’s a fun build you feel like your doing something for your team lack’s in team fights some times but there are times you come into team fight and wipe them. With some nice bonfire/entangle bird spikes.

Your complaint is self-contradicting. You say that as a defender all you do is fight npcs but then say you are facing 4 enemy players.

Vs a lord rush all you have to do is call in a 2nd teammate, spike the door breakers and then laugh as the other team flounders with no supply and noone defending their base. They will HAVE to turn around for supply because your inner gate is still up and then you can harass them all the way to the supply stacks.

Anet has made it clear that they dont want to have their game revolve soley on even fights. They want tactical objective based maps were sometimes lasting as long as possible 4v1 is the best thing you can do for your team. If you want to 1v1 go to custom arenas. If you want mindless Team Deathmatch play CoD

This is why you barely done any SH, try fighting teams that run’s duel S/F Ele’s and Shoutbow and try killing there NPC’s you can barely touch a thing. That’s called tactics, right run bunkers that focus on healing NPC’s which is PvE PvE stupid bloody PVE.

Currently as a defender all you do is kill NPC’s, that’s right all you do is KILL NPC PVE PVE PVE.

It’s not a PvP game mode and its extremely far from it. You would be a LAIR to say it is, to even come close to fixing this game mode to make it a PvP game mode you would have to almost copy GW1 GvG.

But Anet made it clear they don’t want to use already a allready good PvP game mode, they want to make something that no one wants to play.

Honestly this is how it goes as defender, you race to your door you get there and wait, you meet 3-4 attackers you can’t treb and there are 4+ at the door coming at you, you focus them (NPC’s or the door falls) while the attackers focus you, while your doing PvE the attackers are shooting you in the face, honestly did you even think before you made this game mode or are you that dumb.

Fix it or delete the map.

WvW in a mini map.

Kill NPC.
Run Supply.
Avoid players.
Hide behind gates.

This is what you do in WvW when your trying to defend a Tower which is very much like the current Stronghold game mode.

Needs to be less focus on NPC and Supply.

Also feels like there is way to much going on, doesn’t feel like 5 man map.

I don’t see how I am trolling/flame posting. In fact I can safely say that my posts here were highly constructive in regards to the current state of the class, what fun things it used to have in GW (still has) and what I want to see play in the future if the updates permit.

So all in all you are wrong, unless for some reason you are referring to my back and forth with the user who played a LB Ranger at a competetive level in top 5th or 9th team in the world and was ignored by everyone upon pointing that out. It was a hilarious situation.

A lot of people here seem to suffer from seeing what they want to see rather than what was actually posted.

This whole topic is waste of time, look at changes coming to ranger you think Power ranger is bad now wait til the update and you get 2 rapid fires to face.

Also, you have to remember if your taking LB/GS Ranger into Team Que or a Tourney and other team has Medi Guard, well you should think about changing class as Medi Guard is 100% the hard counter to LB/GS Rangers a smart team will take full advantage of this and train you out early.

How so? I mean, I would consider Medi-Guard favoured against PR, but there are much harder counters to the PR, like S/F-Fresh-Air… And in 1v1’s, you really wouldn’t put a PR against a Medi-Guard… actually, you wouldn’t put PR in any 1v1’s if it’s not a non-counter glasscannon like Thief or Mesmer.

Even Staff-Ele is better in Teamfights against a PR than Medi-Guard: Good CC, AoE-Prot and reflection if the PR wants to target the Staff-Ele with LB and tons of CC, peel and Stunbreakers if he wants to go at him in Melee.

S/F isn’t meta atm, so doesn’t really matter currently its Medi Guard.

Maybe if PR becomes Meta then you will see allot of S/F and Staff Ele, but atm there rare.

We are decent side point, but we have no swiftness in bunker builds. So we become less effective.

Shout regen ranger with EB has plenty of swiftness and more than enough condi clear and regen to out heal cele players. Full condi players are pretty rare these days so SotF isn’t necessary.

Shouts are bad in SPvP mate, so lets not talk of this again.

Edit, figured I should also say don’t get me right there not completely bad just if your going to use it as team support its rather worthless, current meta builds almost all have great access to swiftness/mobility or regen. Now not to say won’t work as side point build it does have chance only problem you will run into is killing some of side point builds 1v1 is going to take month of sundays, damage output is allot lower than most beastmaster builds.

Oh I agree it takes a while to kill the other brawler specs. I run it with the cele amulet so my condi bomb is a little lower in damage, but you really don’t have to kill them to be successful. You just draw out their dodges and use bonfire and wolf fear to force them off point and entangle them. All you have to do is force them off long enough to decap. 1v1 you will simply out sustain the other brawler specs and you will eat the roamers alive.

I do hate the cast time on Guard though, it’s ridiculous considering how weak our shouts are.

The new trait line moves that Shout Grand master to minor just shows has bad shouts are atm.

Like I said before Swiftness/Regen are minor things when comes to SPvP, they help but in long run they aren’t going to change out come of the fight.

Solo Que is different story, you have basic tactics most teams will zerg points capping and focus on killing fast rather then rotations or what your build best counters. Most medi guards leave me alone in Solo Que, why is that due to sites like meta builds and twitch people see someone having success on a build and copy it without taking into account the tactics require behind the build and what its good again and what it isn’t good against.

I agree, I tried it before, it’s really a terrible build. Way too telegraphic, and most of the time when you try to cast Guard, you will be interrupted and CCed to death.
I seriously think the cast time SHOULD BE REMOVED for it to be viable.

I was about to say that. Cast time is a killer.

I don’t get why you would say something like this when you already know this. Live stream almost every weekend shows Engineers winning almost every single 1v1 on node fight.

No, that’s not true. Unless you instantaneous crateous, you will never beat an equally skilled D/D Ele, Shoutbow War, Necro, other Engi, Mesmer, Condi Ranger, if you refuse to let the point go neutral and stubbornly fight confined to the point. Bunkers have one job. Keep the point from changing status. D/D Ele and War can bunker. Grenade Engies should get off and actually focus on winning the 1v1. Because they’re a duelist/roamer type.

Your real gripe about Engi is that it’s 1v1 matchups are almost as good as D/D Ele, even if it gives up the point to do so. Engineer does have too good matchups same as the D/D Ele, we all know it’s OP but it’s not because Engineers can bunker, lol.

Ele and War can keep the node capped because that’s their job. Not the Engineer’s job. Ele even has better overall matchups than Engi.. why would Engi be doing that instead of an Ele.

Any fight size above a 1v1, say 2v2, if there is an Engi spending time on the point, not kiting away or using LoS, if there’s ranged focus on him, or AoE pressure on point, that Engi is a liability to winning the fight. You can’t eat people’s AoE and conditions.

Engi assaulting a point is a lot better use of the Engi. That’s not a bunker. Do you see why me saying Engi is not good at bunkering is true?

The Engi is best at being duelist/roamer, not a bunker/point holder (defensive) or dedicated support. Why don’t you get why I would say that? Winning a 1v1 =/= bunkering a point.

- Let’s not forget entangle. The cooldown is too short, and the immobilize is too long. (Either increase the cooldown, or reduce the duration of immob)

- Increase the Survivability of power ranger while decreasing their Rapid fire damage. I believe ranger is too glassy to be viable, and too annoying in solo qs. If there was a way to make it more viable, it is by making it more survivable and reduce the damage of Rapid fire so it doesn’t get out of hand.


Hi, I don’t believe you have clear understanding of Rapid Fire, the main reason its seems so strong is due to Air/Fire Sigil, it normally adds extra 2k + damage to our Rapid Fire which is the ONLY burst skill on a burst ranger. You could say our GS has decent burst but its very telegraphed and easy to counter so the Risk vs Reward is balanced in that term.

Say you drop Air and Fire Sigil from LB and hit a target that has 1500 Toughness + Protection and removes a condition half way throw the Rapid Fire, at best I’m talking every best you will do 3-4k damage top’s, now that’s our only burst skill.

So when you have a better understanding of Rapid Fire, is it really the skill that’s the problem.

Entangle, it’s a 50/50 skill it can be OP also useless. Say your target is stupid burns his condition remove well killing him isn’t a problem. But say your target isn’t stupid saves atleast decent condition clear knowing the ranger most likely has Entangle soon as it’s popped you wipe it. Now half the time Entangle is random dodged so it’s not really that good. Just allot of players don’t take the time to learn other classes and current builds.

I get sick of hearing how Rapid Fire is OP, so you got clipped by a full Rapid Fire stop and ask yourself why hell didn’t you dodge once that’s half the damage gone or block or LOS as you seen the ranger coming. I really don’t get it half reason skills are strong cause tactics from the other player are sub-par. We can try make this game more simple for the casual or keep things solid.

Cele Rifle role of “Duelist, Team Fighter, *Support, Bunker, Home Node Defender”*

Cele Engi is too strong in conquest, much more so than Condi Mesmer, but that’s your response to why Scepter Auto Attack Torment should not be increased in attack speed or ‘finesse’?

Also, you don’t really get the Rifle Engi’s role. Haha. You’re pretty far off. Healing Turret =/= support role. The Cleansing Burst doesn’t scale with healing, you’re basically saying every PvP Engineer in the game is support. Bunkering. The Engineer can’t hold nodes because they lack condition removal and simply accumulate burning and won’t win the fight. You have to stand outside the red circles on Engi. Shoutbow and D/D Ele have 5 times the Condition Removal per minute. 30 v. 6, when Engineer uses the Healing Turret to knock enemies, as they should. The point holders are who you want to keep the nodes, not the roamers. It’s not a blurred line.

It’s a roaming duelist and teamfighter.. it can’t do Support, Bunkering, or keep home node capped 1v1 even half as good as dedicated roles.

More of a CC based assassin than a bunker, when ran with Slick Shoes. Cele Engi is OP, but not because it’s good at half the things you think it is.

It’s because it kicks kitten and has ridiculous CC. Puts on Sunglasses.

Sorry to say it, but your one of the best node fighters classes in the game…… Attacking a point you would have to be the best class for the job you can nuke a point down so fast.

To few changes, these changes won’t bring us back into the meta sadly.

I do like Torch/Warhorn buff’s, def in the right direction.

Sadly all the problems we are faced with didn’t take a single hit in this balance patch.

Our Berserker build still going to get hard countered by Ele/Guard/Thief.

Trap Ranger might have a chance but with Cele builds barely taking a hit there still to much condition remove and healing for us to break a target before we die to there spam.

Spirit Ranger and Bleed Survival builds got the buff with this update.

I offered a fact, and 3 educated opinions. You haven’t responded to any of them.

At the risk of being a bit of a bore… I stated that ranger already has a speed signet. By implication, there’s no need for a speed / mobility buff since you already have one.

I opined that Ranger is clearly optimized as a hunter / sniper. Such fighters typically ambush and so the genre doesn’t really lend itself to high mobility.

Further I compared adding high mobility to ranger to adding heavy armor to Mesmer. This was to emphasize the first opinion and hint that adding mobility would make rangers excessively powerful.

Last, I offered my assessment that the behaviour of rangers has a great deal to do with the fact that they are unpopular as team members.

The ranger class is specifically set up and equipped as a sniper. As such, mobility can and should be a weakness.

Ranger already has a movement speed signet.

Asking for extreme range AND high mobility is akin to asking anet to give Mesmer heavy armor.

The supposition that rangers aren’t wanted on top teams is not a legitimate argument for increased power.

Rather it’s an indictment of the behaviour and game play of rangers.

Do you even know what you talking about what the hell is this legitimate crap when seems like rather then reading the post you go with something that has nothing to do with what we are talking about.

I hate players like you talking utter garbage. First learn ranger and you might understand.

We have even gone as far as talking about rolls and builds, ranger uses more weapons then just longbow halfwit.

There are so many clueless posts on here, allot of the top Rangers left have all stated we need a change to our mobility. What many forget most of us old school Rangers have kitten load of games under our belt and we all been at the top at some point.

Now all our builds bar spirit ranger are very slow, if we are to play back point we won’t have a LB (limited range) so shove that 1500 range….. We want to compete better in the meta. Our trap ranger only has in combat speed for 5 seconds if we die takes so long to get back to combat our rotations are extremely slow.

Now LB Rangers are so easy to counter if you need tips as on here many good Rangers. Things people. Forget our burst is so easy to LOS dodge block if you random
Dodge that’s your fault not ours, if you eat a full rapid fire which doesn’t do that high of damage due to protection and smart player will clear the condition fast making us hit around 3k damage tops on our only burst skill.

We just need to be more mobile it’s one of many ranger problems.

Once again if ur losing to lb ranger that’s a you problem and not mine.

Trap ranger is really strong things that hurt the build.

No mobility, limited survival.

Reason trap ranger worked well many light years ago was due to how EB worked, to take a strong trap build you require 3 traps and no real stun break, you can drop 1 trap for LR which isn’t to bad just survival is still low.

Also frost trap is a waste of space it really needs help.
