I don’t think so. I don’t care what your title is and I’d rather keep information on the screen to a minimal.

Only 5 Character Slots Is A Major Disappointment

After 100 or so hours of playing and reaching lvl80, I currently have enough gold stored to buy an extra 7 character slots. That’s with absolutely zero real-world cash spent. If I didn’t buy exotic items and trait books I’d have been able to buy twice as many.

The engineer has a back pack, and there is a back slot, so I see absolutely no reason why there shouldn’t or can’t be a quiver

Nothing and apparently people are ok with that since there is no subs fee :P

Yeah, i figured that GW2 is not the holy grail i was looking for

so you expected endless content for people who are technically gaming addicts?

you’ve probably logged what, 150-200 hours in 3 weeks? you’re burned out. you’re not motivated because half of your life the past 3 weeks has been focused on one thing. i’m level 47 with tons of game to go. you turned the game into a job and now you’re sick of it.

endless content will never, ever, ever happen. it’s impossible. you want quantity over quality over quantity, but quantity in any form will never pay a studio’s bills

Spot on. I enjoy GW2 but I’m pretty certain if I spent 12 hours a day playing it I’d get tired of it.

I have a 560ti and an i5 processor, nothing too fancy, and I’m running gw2 at a steady 50-80 (depending on whether I’m in combat or just running around) in windowed mode.

In the space of 16 days the game has been out (including head start) you have raced to the end of PvE and you almost have 100% of the map explored. Serious question: why the hell did you feel the need to invest so much time in to it and try to complete everything so quickly? What exactly were you hoping to achieve by rushing through all the content? I honestly don’t get players like you.

Trading Post underpricing

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Soothsayer.9476

Soothsayer.9476

I use the trade post the same way I use ebay. I’ll undercut everybody just to guarantee I sell my item right now if I need to. I don’t care about raking in hundreds of gold, I simply want to offload all the stuff I don’t want. Do I care if it affects those of you who want to play the market and get rich? Nope, I don’t care in the slightest.

If you complete zones 100% then you’ll have plenty of these stones for free. You can even find the fine transmutation stones so you can use them on lvl80 gear.

Having a hard time targeting

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Soothsayer.9476

Soothsayer.9476

i love the combat but reluctantly have to agree with OP, in the middle of a lot of fights, i suddenly notice ive lost my target and have to retab for it. its not super annoying me atm but it does happen a lot.

Go to the settings menu and:

Untick “Stop Auto attacking on target change”
Tick “Autotargeting”
Tick “Promote skill target”

This way you can run in to a battle and simply start attacking, and the nearest enemy you are facing will become the locked on target. It will not lose focus when moving around unless you do something to change target, such as clicking somewhere with left mouse button or pressing tab.

Personal story difficulty

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Soothsayer.9476

Soothsayer.9476

I got up to about lvl30 in the personal story and then left it completely. I got to lvl80 and bought exotic gear and then went back to do the personal story. It was much easier for the most part but even then at times the odd moment would arise which was very difficult.

I remember trying to complete the boss in “In the Ruins” and it was impossible to do until I was 11 levels higher than the recommendation (an elite skill and the traits basically made the difference).

It doesn’t help that the npc’s are completely useless. They do almost no damage.

Ofc i tried them, I think the problem is when you click your left mouse button to move game just unselect your target. It is very annoying.

I don’t have that problem at all. My target stays locked no matter where I move the camera. Also use the right mouse button to move the camera, you shouldn’t be pressing the left button.

For those who want to play competitively there will be tournaments, and Guild vs Guild will probably be added in the future. Who knows what else they have planned. But casuals who just want to run through the world picking daisy’s, and hardcore “elites” or whatever the hell the jargon is, will both be catered for. There’s no point arguing which way is the best to play.

Level scaling for dungeons is absurd

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Soothsayer.9476

Soothsayer.9476

I totally love the level scaling system, sheer brilliance on arenanet’s part, and very very well orchestrated. im lvl 31, and im not done exploring each of the lowbie zones…because I do not care what “lowbie” means anymore! So……having said that…..

I do not like being scaled to a lvl lower than the mobs….that’s incredibly frustrating. like being lvl 6 fighting 11 drakes when im actually lvl 27….

To those above who said the lvls dont actually alter your effectiveness that much, you have to be at least a little wrong. i can tell when im being pounded, 5up mobs hurt way worse than even con vets.

Let the “get better” replies commence.

Which area lowers you to lvl6 in a lvl 11 area? In my experience I’m usually 1-2 levels higher than mobs, and some times equal, but I can’t recall ever being down scaled to a lower level than them

No Mounts?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Soothsayer.9476

Soothsayer.9476

Mounts are used by people to run through areas from one point of interest to another while ignoring everything between the points. You’ll see far less people reviving one another, far less people engaging in fighting normal mobs, and the whole experience will be worse for it. GW2 does not need mounts just because “every other mmo has them”

These things are supposed to be long-term goals. They aren’t supposed to be obtained within a few days. You don’t HAVE to spend 12 hours a day farming. Play normally, play when you feel like, play for fun, and if one day you have enough tokens then get a reward. It’s not bad design just because YOU want it all NOW but cannot have it.

This game does a good job at making your character feel like a wimp (w i m p).

That being said;
The down level system is awsome and with a few changes I might be playing the game right now instead of spending time on the forums. I like feeling powerful in games and that my presence matters. I don’t think I will ever get that from GW2.

So basically you want God mode or you don’t have fun. Yep GW2 isn’t the game for you

As a warrior I went from lvl60 to lvl80 using only lvl60 gear. Orr was more difficult than any other area I’d been in but still far from impossible or unfair. The challenge was nice compared with how easy it is to steamroll the rest of the zones. Now I have full lvl80 exotic gear Orr is easy as well. I don’t think it’s the mobs that need changing, it’s the Elementalist that needs toughening up if anything

What's the point of those tier[x] karma items?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Soothsayer.9476

Soothsayer.9476

Karma venders are very broken right now in terms of Prices. Another thing people don’t realize is you can use karma items for the mystic forge. So instead of paying ridiculous amounts, buy like 8 or 12 of the cheap ones and combine them at the mystic forge. I did that with my rifle and got 4 yellows, then combined to make an amazing upgrade for my level. I am not level 80, but yeah. It also my be cosmetics.

I’ll have to look in to this. I don’t really understand the Mystic forge if I’m honest, my only experience is shoving some rubbish weapons in there and getting back an equally rubbish weapon. But I’ll try out what you suggested.

What's the point of those tier[x] karma items?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Soothsayer.9476

Soothsayer.9476

Getting 3 gold and getting 40k karma in lvl 80 takes pretty much the same time…

Not for me. As I levelled up I used Karma to buy items in each zone I completed, so I had over 20g and was able to buy a full set of exotic armour and weapons at level 80.

For a full set of armour from a tier 3 vendor it would cost hundreds of thousands of karma, and you’d have inferior armour to exotic.

What's the point of those tier[x] karma items?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Soothsayer.9476

Soothsayer.9476

So I have 40k karma saved up after reaching lvl80 and not much to spend it on. I have had a look at the karma vendors and notice that it’s over 60k karma for a lvl80 weapon or one piece of armour. However the stats are inferior to exotic armour which costs a few gold, and inferior to my exotic hammer which only cost 3g. What’s the point? In the time it takes to save up that much karma you’ll easily be able to afford better gear anyway. Am I missing something here?

Warrior, Ranger, Or Elementalist, Which Is Best?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Soothsayer.9476

I have a level 80 warrior and at times it does feel like I’m at a disadvantage to those who are ranged. However I’ve found that more exciting as I have to dodge and kite effectively rather than than just stand back in one spot. When fighting a giant for example it’s good fun having to evade at the correct time.

Anyway I’m also deciding whether to play a ranger or Ele for my next character.

I play a warrior and I think the Rampage elite is also somewhat useless. It lasts around 20 seconds and has a cool down of 3 minutes, but it doesn’t do much more damage than my hammer. I actually find the Signet of Rage elite superior and it costs 20 skill points less.

I have never used the skill you speak of, but 60 seconds doesn’t sound too bad in comparison to Rampage.

The definition of "endgame" in Guild Wars 2

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Soothsayer.9476

Soothsayer.9476

Since this is the second time this has popped up in the player helping player forum, ill give the people worried about this some helpful advise:

Do it. Get to end game. Go get legendary weapons for your characters. That should cost you a minimum of 400 skill points over cap. If you dont want to repeat content (which I dont see as a problem for you since “traditional” end game is just doing the same thing hundreds of times), then completing each of the theoretical 1500 dynamic events should get you close.

After that, since you are looking for things to do with your guild: get yourself the commander titles, form a guild squad and then take and keep Stonemist castle.

If your guild-mates, who also might be worried about end-game, think they are undergeared for that, then farming out the 25 available dungeons for unique armor, sigils and runes should be helpful.

Once you get allllllllll that done, I think it can pretty much be said you have come CLOSE to seeing and doing all of the content available. Then come right on back here and let us know how there is nothing left to do. Thats assuming you even can get everything done before an expansion, or before free content patches are added.

Good luck. We’ll be waiting to hear from you.

What do you mean when you say 400 skill points over cap? And how will doing dynamic events get them?
