@mango This goes beyond simple ‘targets of opportunity’ and stretches into possible abuse of free server transfers.

It can’t possibly be beyond any ones imagination that with limited slots in WvW, a server couldn’t transfer people or a guild to influence outcomes.

I think the bigger fable here is of this so-called alliance we have with other servers.
SYN and WM have been going at each others’ throats since the first time we met.

In today’s EB, we have had at least 7 major skirmishes with them already.

Awesome, hope to see more of that over the next week.

My (personal) theory is that without HoD carrying them SBI wouldn’t even be in the top 3. This is the only way they can stay in the top 3, by being HoD’s… #2.

The only close match has been between HoD/JQ/ET, and as long as HoD keeps SBI in second, HoD won’t ever have to face JQ and ET together again.

TBH, we consider SBI a bigger threat than ET solely because of WM.

I have not been impressed at all with this (fabled) WM, and they were working with you against TL on Red Borderlands. So how big of a threat could they really be when you were working together against us?

I know that many others in my guild do hold them in high regard because of their achievements in GW, I have not personally seen them bring it on any level yet.

I do hope to see this eventually though, I love seeing new tactics.

Why are Commander Icons not account bound?

A Commander is more than an individual profession, yet to lead in battle I can only play one the character with the icon.

Is the limit the result of coding limitations, or is there a design philosophy at work here?

While I do support this thread, you must understand the free transfer is not Ferguson’s choice and it probably falls under someone higher up.

That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t make noise about it. He must make the decision makers aware of the impact on WvW.

Phantasmal Warden Suggestion

In WvW, my Warden is a must. The damage it does is amazing, especially when you find a stationary target in the middle of the crowd, or using it on siege equipment to help drop it, or doors.

With Fury and Bleed on Crit, the Warden does the most damage of any other skills when used properly.

WvWvW isnt for casuals….thats why some servers lose because people dont know were to go and just fumble around and get owned all the time. seeing that you cannot see were people are at. i would advise against casuals going to WvWvW…

But arenanet has gone through great lengths to make WvW as casual friendly as possible. And by casual I don’t believe they meant time, I believe Anet meant skill.

WvW is supposed to have been designed in a manner that allows anyone to jump in and participate.

Well they could have done that, while keeping the competitiveness in WvW. I believe that it’s time to admit that WvW is not casual friendly at all, and admit that the investment required into WvW is above and beyond what a casual player can expect.

All future design decisions should keep this mind. Regardless of the intent (or marketing) WvW is not for casuals. It is extremely punishing to someone that does not know what they are doing, and the design decisions surrounding this (come on really, “invader”) have not added to the quality of wvw.

Please make all future decisions, for what’s good of the people that are actually in WvW, not for the people that aren’t.

Mirrored Feedback, and Traited Focus Wall do not give credit for damage done and kills, however retribution recognizes it as my damage, and damages me.

How about increasing the number of wvw maps on the top tier matchup only?

Say there’s going to be an underwater map or something, but it’s availble to the top 3 servers only in the S tier fight.

That way, there’s a reward for servers that do well — extra map for wvw — and it helps with the que as well. Even though just slightly.

Another Map will only help the one server that can maintain a 24/7 presence. The rest of the servers will only be hurt by this.

The only option is to accept the queue, wait for technology to increase to the point that it can handle more people, or move servers.

Why not? We’re not talking about designing a whole new map…just spinning up another instance of Eternal Battlegrounds for match-ups that need it.

Because those maps generate points, and then must be maintained by maps. The queue time for most all servers is purely during prime time. What about the rest of the night/day? When it’s not prime time. Who is going to sit in there during the rest of the time?

I thought it was said you couldnt WvW until that paring was over after the transfer.

they did say that but that’s not the case. Some guilds are putting people on enemy servers to monitor troop movements/spy or even (anecdotally) lead pug groups from enemy servers.

There is a lot of abuse of this system, and very few are using it in the way Arenanet envisioned because they have allowed for free access and immediate wvw.

The problem is, to the person with the pet peeve is… Arenanet feels the same way Spvp is for the hardcore and WvW for the casuals., i think they have done everything they could to make it so.. no kill spam, no player names, and very little person information on who you’re fighting.. I think there isn’t even skin changes right?

And see it’s exactly the opposite in reality.

Spvp is far more casual as it takes no real effort to get into it. You just queue up, you’re given a spec, and gear, no cost other than time, no investment in your character.

You don’t have to level, spend time gathering resources, or gold. Yet Arenanet considers spvp to be “hardcore” pvp and designed wvw around being casual friendly?

Just because something is said, doesn’t make it true. You can go into WvW and end up penniless, and naked. How is that casual?

You can’t have instances in territory control PvP. Overflow doesn’t work. It just become another map that needs to be maintained. Most server populations can’t really populate the 4 maps they have now.

If you want populations to stabilize then stop allowing transfers. At this point people are pretty settled, or don’t see the point of moving when everyone can just transfer again. Take away free transfers and you will see everything normalize.

Also the entire system of when you transfer servers you can’t join WvW needs to be implemented. It’s being abused at the moment and you’re not going to see much in wvw change if you don’t put in a cool down.

It is possibly being used and abused in WvW. There is no reason at this point to keep server transfers open.

As a Mesmer a well placed Feedback bubble can do a ton of damage. However it’s all reflect damage. Same with traited focus wall, and my Guardian’s wall.

I know the damage done counts when they have retribution on (I take damage) but I don’t believe it counts as damage done for kill credit/loot.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves. The insistence that WvW is for casuals and SPvP is for the hardcore. I feel it is exactly the opposite. SPvP takes no dedication or commitment unless you are doing tournaments, and even then WvW takes way more investment than SPvP. More strategy, gold, gear, and people.

I feel it is disrespectful to the players to insist that WvW be designed around the casual, instead of the people who live it and dedicate themselves to it.

Have everyone join your squad. Type /squadinfo You’re welcome. The commander icon naturally organized the server. It’s use is a game changer. My guild runs 2.

The Importance of Stonemist

Eventually, all matches will be even. Not counting Stonemist each side has 220 points to generate to maintain an even match. Less than that and someone else is winning. If you own your third in each borderlands, and your third in EB then your side will break even, the victor being decided by who takes and holds more territory.

However with Stonemist being worth 50 points, the importance is magnified in even match ups. In all the borderlands you can fight for each supply, each tower, and even some keeps but the amount of gains you make or lose there are meaningless when Stonemist is factored in.

I propose that Stonemist points be removed from the game. Instead Stonemist should be the 4th orb. If you hold stonemist, then you get the buff. Let the give and take between the thirds of the maps be what determines the winner. This makes all maps important, instead of just eternal battlegrounds.

Currently the borderlands are insignificant. You basically have to have people there to maintain your third. But if the points for Stonemist were removed, then all of a sudden you have every map counting. Every battle being significant.

Mostly large guilds with people to lead will be the first ones getting them. That kinda makes sense.

What gets me is they are per character, not account bound. That’s just silly.

Bay Keep NE Wall

The bay keep NE wall is bugged at first upgrade. When it’s upgraded to stonewalls, the NE destructible wall has incredibly low hp. Any siege that can damage it will drop it. Any supply used heals it to full.
