So the consensus is: not great for power not great for condi alright at defence? I know Roy’s a good dev and has been good to revenants. I don’t know what happened, he let Mallyx become this husk of what it was and didn’t bother to change the traits that match mallyxs condi sharing. It’s also resulting in the issue that the heavy resistance was needed for corrupting Mallyx skills but with out that it just becomes dangerously defensive and will cause issues if Mallyx gets stronger.
Because he was just a hype man, and now that we all believed the hype we won’t see him till the next expansion.
Block/Report You’re playing pvp. Where the objective is to kill the other person’s pixels. You’re literally tearing someone apart virtually. You’re allowing other people to hit you and punch you, and you can’t handle some kitten talking? Nope, sorry. No. PvP is PvP. Where players fight other players… period… on every level.
If you don’t like then stop pvp’ing because your pixels are going to get hurt, over and over again.
And… if you can’t handle the occasional bit of crap (I actually get tons of angry messages in wvw through the block/whisper, to the point of personal threats) then just block and report them, or realize that the likelihood of them hurting you in real life is really, really, really small.
I love reading. I read constantly and in many different media. When I start reading, I like to do the story from beginning to end.
Pre-HoT I would level my characters to 80 via WvW and Crafting and most recently via Tomes of Knowledge so I could do personal stories from beginning to end uninterrupted.
When I read Game of Thrones, I did not have to ever stop reading to go learn about combat, or swords, or assassins. I did not have to stop to do anything else if I did not want to. There was no gating mechanism in place and I could enjoy my story as I saw fit.
In the future, please don’t include mastery gating for the main story. If you want the pve nerds to grind forever so they have the illusion of content, then find some other way so I can do my story, then get back to my WvW.

Using EtD increases Condition Damage by (on me 192) That’s pretty significant.
192 * .045 (at level 80) = 8.64 damage per tick of torment. If you have 20 stacks (not unreasonable), that’s ~173 extra damage per second (double if moving). I’m not certain of your build but it’s probably meh compared to the energy cost or an extra Mace 2 burn field which does substantially more dps and the mob doesn’t have to move around to get full damage output from the ability.
What about the increase to your burn damage as well… when your energy drains swap back to Glint for awhile.

HoT actively drives people away because you need about 75+ WvW Ranks before you can get your elite, or just run and do it in a couple hours in PvE.

Okay, assuming you never eat a CC in that entire sequence, Auto-attacking for 8 seconds straight(assuming Facet of Nature isn’t activated), then popping an Elite that has a 3/4 cast time, and then casting UA 3 times(a grand total of 2.25s) and assuming they stand still inside your 240 radius AoEs and absolutely no one cleanses anything, then yes, this would stack a good amount of Torment.

Looks like you don’t wvw. You gain energy while being in combat, so as soon as you’re in combat, you gain energy. Then you attack from the side, and get the entire sequence off.
I actually WvW or sPvP full time, I don’t just sit around and theorcraft. Dropping that sequence while a point is contested, also does a kitten ton of damage during a group fight for a point.
Stop theory crafting so much and play the game.

Very simple question, when is staff 4 going to match the tooltip? I want my 2 cleanses.

When you run out of bonus chests, it can take between approx 75-100 WvW Levels to Unlock your elite, whereas someone who has the appropriate masteries and a group can unlock an elite in just a couple hours.
Make Bonus chests drop 10 Proofs of Heroic Per. Problem solved.
You should focus on getting in, doing a ton of damage, swapping to staff, and getting out. I’m a Condi Rev, so I can’t comment on Power Builds, but the premise is the same.

The Revenant bug list is unacceptable. Put a dev on it full time pls. This class is fun, sure, but it feels like its still in beta.
I’m disappointed that Roy was just the hype man for Revenant, and abandoned the forums when launch.

Absolutely, I solo roam a lot.
Staff is a fantastic team weapon. Never look at any thing in a vacuum. Staff 4, is a AoE healing ability with a blast finisher built in, so throw it down on a water field, and that’s quite a bit of bonus healing.
Staff 2 is clumsy however.
Put them in the bank, they will show up at the vendor on another character.
They have said this is not intentional and a bug that might get fixed, I don’t want that to happen.
I love it with every part of my being.
As a condi, I run in, drop fields every where… and then sit in my bubble while the world burns around me. I LOVE my shield.
I’m very successful at condi rev.
10 per rank up seems fair since it takes longer to rank up in WvW than it takes to do any of the hero challenges in the HoT maps.
This. I would love to hear developer reason why this couldn’t happen.
I’d say they need to make them account bound and increase the amount you receive per rank up. I have more characters I want the specs on, but I’m sick of going into PvE for them.
Yeah, I recommend 4-6 per chest (since you get 2 chests) per WvW Level, and making them account bound, so you can get 1 trait per level or 1 Utility per 2 levels.
Or just give 10 Proofs of Heroic per level. Period.
The game includes WvW, sPvP, and PvE. I loathe PvE, but it’s part of the game when you have to do it. Many people that WvW don’t sPvP, it’s not the same thing.
at 80 with full herald/mallyx and exotic/ascended I solo champions all the time.
For servers lower than T2 it is ridiculous to expect people to get 250 hero points in WvW outside of EoTM for revenant.
Basically this is my entire beef right here and why they need to at the very least make Proof Of Heroics account bound, so you can earn them on your main, and then just transfer them to an alt.
I use Unyielding Anguish Offensively, and Defensively.
I exclusively play Mallyx/Glint, and I devastate groups in both WvW, sPvP, and PvE.
I don’t understand the Mallyx hate at the moment. Unyielding Anguish keeps is superior for running people down, or keeping them in range, as well as creating distance for yourself and allowing Searing Fissure to do it’s work. Hell, Elemental Blast, Searing Fissure, and Unyielding Anguish are staples in my rotation.
The only ability I don’t really ever use is Pain Absorption, because I already have Demonic Defiance.
Also who cares that mallyx doesn’t have a stun break when Glint does? Every legend can’t do everything.
So I just finished getting my Elite fully unlocked almost exclusively through WvW. Mostly solo. I can testify that it is significantly faster to get your Elite Unlocked through PvE, especially when you have your Masteries unlocked.
There is NO logical reason to not make Proofs of Heroic account bound. Especially when you take into account that Masteries are account bound, and exponentially decrease the time it takes for a pve character to unlock their elites.
And how do I get hero points in EotM by the way?
Every pvp rank up you get 4-8 Proofs of Heroic, which you can turn in for Hero Points. 1 PoH = 1 HP.
Well with demonic defiance, I just use a skill, keeps me safe.
Do any of my fellow revenants EVER use Pain Absorption? Please enlighten me.

So this is what I’ve been mostly roaming with having massive success. Opening up with Glint, finishing with Mallyx. Unyielding Anguish is the ultimate way to stop runners
Just solo’ed this event. I got 200 wvw xp, fortified doors dropped down to half.
It’s about time that Anet did a tweak on the event experience. If a player solos a tower, or solos a keep, or solos the laser event, the reward should reflect the effort put forth.
Where as for the proofs, the extent of your challenge is simply making sure to obtain the scroll on the right character. For certain points, the wvw method might actually be easier/faster.
I dunno about that, I spent hours in eotm this last week and came away with a piddling 8 proofs and barely any badges at all. They nerfed eotm rewards hardcore.
And that’s the thing, you need to level twice for every trait, and 4 times for every utility. For every single character you have, where as with PvE and masteries you can just get masteries on one character, then run around with another before doing your story or whatever else floats your boat.
Why not just make Proofs of Heroics Account bound to compensate for this?

Yeah, it’s not even close to being faster than someone with all their masteries in pve. You can’t just “get a group” run around and get all your wvw rank on an alt in the same way you’ll be able to do this with PvE players.
Why is it ok for Masteries to be Account bound and Proof of Heroics not?
We are told that Elites are supposed to be individual Character Progression, but once one pve character has all the Masteries they can just run around and grab all the Elites they want quickly on every other character.
Whereas a WvW player must grind every single WvW Rank (the chest for proofs of heroic only comes from leveling a WvW rank) individually on each character in order to level their Elites.
Why does this double standard exist? And before you give me this “play the content” argument, how would you pve’ers feel if you were required to go into WvW (which is still content no matter how much you try to deny it) in order to level your Elites? Or to get a Mastery required for pve content?
This is a blatant double standard between the two areas of the game.
Except the choices they are making are screwing over WvW’ers hard core. Like making Proofs of Heroic Soulbound.
Might as well make Mastery character based.

This so much. PvE players can just get all the masteries on one toon, then for every other alt they play it’s a matter of just running around collecting hero points. No grind, just run directly there, get it and go to the next one.
What kinda crap is Anet trying to pull? No matter what you still have to grind out levels. Making them soulbound is just a slap in the face for wvw.
This can still be done though. The chests that hold the Proofs of Heroics are account bound, so you could swap the chests to other characters and then open them. The chests, however, don’t stack.
Yeah except for the fact it’s a bug and you won’t be able to trade chests soon.
But of course you’ll get pve’ers saying that forcing players into their content is not a big deal and to just go do it.
Because they don’t want WvW’ers being able to make it easier to get Elite Specs on alt characters.
Apparently on PvE’ers are able to do that. They can unlock Mastery and make it easier to fly around and get their elites, but WvW’ers for some reason aren’t allowed to do the same with passing PoH.
Except, he has a point. If WVW players want the “Elite” specs to play in WVW in any reasonable time they have to do HOT, pve content, that they probably dont enjoy.
Quite honestly im all for making WVW like PVP where all skills and specs are unlocked for the area, which i know the OP didnt say that, but still.
I didn’t say that because I tried making that argument back when I was in Alpha and they shot it down completely, so I was happy to be able to level my characters, and build my characters free from pve through crafting or wvw.
This expansion changed all that. Unless you log in during peak hours and join a karma train, your progress is very very slow.
Just for comparisons I ran in and did most of the hero challenges that don’t require Mastery and thought it was a joke. There’s FAR more effort involved in WvW to get Rank, and the reward is infinitesimal.
So PvE players get their masteries and are content to trash every effort for WvW players to be on equal footing, because they have it so easy. WvW players have the same grind per character to get their Elite Spec, or they have to not be in WvW and go and grind PvE content to get their characters developed, which leaves WvW a ghost land.
