Anything like this would be terrible. Why? Because Anet needs to fix the 4v5 and unbalanced matchmaking system.

I intentionally AFK quite a lot. Not every game or every other game, but when there’s a 4v5, as we all know, happens frequently, then I give it a shot. If it’s obvious that we can’t win, especially depending on the map (as some maps heavily favor 5 players over 4), then I’ll sit in spawn. I want the match to end asap so I can get to the next match that, hopefully, has 5 players.

There’s also that more rare instance where there are 3 warriors and 2 guardians of high ranking matched against 3 thieves, and 2 mesmer type of thing. Or how about when 3 members of your team don’t give a kitten at all about playing the map and just want to gank people.

So, yeah. Until those issues are fixed (Which isn’t hard. I’ve made other posts about them), don’t punish me and force me to play in a terrible match.

Been playing the game since launch. Recently got a new system ankitten ow able to have everything at max setting. I always thought the game was beautiful before, but now, even more so. Here’s a screen shot of a view while doing the JP on one of the boarderlands in WvW.

i think though the whole problem is, that most of those blobs are mainly cc oriented adn mes has no stability…and no the mantra is really not a good option.

Mantra of concentration on a mantra build: 3 stun breaks, 6 seconds total of stability, 600 extra toughness while channeling. @2700 aoe heal at the end of the channel, all in under 27 seconds. How is that not viable?

mantra is terrible in the middle of a zerg and a mantra build in wvw…in a zergplay?no no and no again this is terrible to use. u get perma interrupted and the channeling is an absolut pain. and also if u use mantras u wast all traits on those stupid mantras and then how u gonna deal dmg?hpw u gonna do anything with that in wvw?in a zerg not roaming not 1v1 im talking zerg! mantra of concentration is not good enough vs cc spamming zerg!

Well, I run a mantra build in WvW. Works great. Aoe stun break, aoe stability, aoe healing, aoe cleansing, 12 personal cleanses, tough and hits like a truck. Sure, I probalbly don’t have as much sustained dps as a necro, but iZerker still tags a ton of people for usually kitten .5 K My auto attack consistanly hits well over 1K, knockdown, etc. Not even counting my sword/focus. You don’t sit there spamming mantras the whole time. If you are, then you are doing something wrong. Either you’re not on the commander, you don’t know how to position yourself, or your guilds group comp sucks.

Yeah, it’d be great if mind stab was a blast finisher.

No dev response in any of the threads on this topic. I do check them out. Almost all of the dev tracker has to do with hacked acokittens and PvP. A few new, non-committal responses on transparency, and that’s pretty much it.

I just want them to address the transmutation stone issue and karma and WvW gear. My sigils and runes are stuck in it and there’s no way I’m going to use WvW and karma gear for future builds untill this issue is dealt with. I just want, a month since the patch, some acknowledgement that this was intended, or it was an oversight and something WILL be done soon.

i see your points chaos, but i dont think a lightarmor class should be a duelist only. i think we should have the option to spec for aoe at least so we can also be viable in other gamemodes like wvwv raids! thats my only problem and frustration i have with my mes. i would love it otherwise, but the utilitybot role is sooo frustrating!
but yeah i mean mind stab is a joke the way it is right now. we cant cast it while moving and it deals like no dmg….seriously? i would like more interrupts on my mes, so it would be nice if ms could interrupt, but i still want it to be aoe. we got wayyy to many single target skills. i know many people love roaming and duels, well i like wvw and wvw raids so when i see a suggestion, i always try to think of a zergfight and ms as a real aoe could be really helpful.

One of my characters is a mesmer, over 2000 hours, on Blackgate. I primarily WvW. It is great in WvW. I am usually within 600 range of the commander. I hit like a truck, very tough, and offer great team support. Just don’t play a utility kitten role or try to compromise with the commander and use only one skill for utility, like veil, or just get used to swapping it out when you know your commander is going to want it.

Also, lest everyone forget, iZerker hits an infinite amount of targets. It just has a strange hit pattern, but it hits much more than 5 people.

It isn’t working as intended. You don’t know the history of the game. That is just the BS they say to cover up mistakes. Don’t defend them.

Don’t do most bugs that improve the gameplay such as falling damage bug, insta-kill interrupt bug etc get fixed asap? And with asap I mean within 1-2 months. Same went for temporal curtain. I do agree it’s stupid it can’t work as the symbols of guardian, but I truely think this, as it is now, is how it is working as intended. Just cause you don’t agree on it doesn’t mean it’s not working as intended.
How did you guys came even on this topic? It’s about mind stab, not temporal curtain.

Because, at launch, they did a hot fix on temporal curtain, because people were stacking swiftness. They “fixed” it right away. But they were never able to fix it right. They also admitted, way back when, that they couldn’t get it to work right, so they were just going to leave it as is.

So, you guys are telling me, that temporal curtain is meant to be the only skill in the game that doesn’t stack a buff of the same kind and doesn’t grant you a buff when applied if you already have that buff? And I’m not talking about when you reach the maximum stack limit. The only one in the whole game. Working as intended? Just stop it. Please, don’t defend Anet on this.

Yes, this topic did get a little off, but that is because I brought up the horrid history of the developers not fixing things that have been broken with this class for almost 2 years now. Bring the enthusiasm of wanting to change mind stab to fixing temporal curtain. I was also being cynical saying that they will probably never change mind stab because they never fixed temporal curtain, something that has been broken since launch. That’s the relevance.

Get rid of personal score in solo and team ques. Keep it for hot join.

Time and time again, every part of the day, I run into people who value personal score above winning. As a matter of fact, they don’t care about winning at all. They just want the highest score. These are the people who just skirmish. These are the people who will cap a point even though you are already there. These are the people that loose matches.

I like playing to win. I don’t give a kitten about my personal score. I like playing the way the game, and the matches are intended.

In thinking about this tread and my jaded nature to the mesmer class, one near and dear to me, it occurs that many of you may not even have been playing this game for a while.

The biggestkittenfrom Anet was confusion. Confusion is built into the mesmer class. We have multiple weapons skills, utility skills, and traits that apply and buff confusion. But all the bad players who just spam abilities complained and complained. Granted, in sPvP, they were pretty powerful, but WvWers were just bad players. My whole gripe was that confusion doesn’t do any damage if you just wait for a cleanse. Kinda harder in sPvP. Anyway….

So what happened? They nerfed confusion damage by 50%. That’s not a nerf bat, that’s a kitten sledgehammer. Just some arbitrary number, but it nearly killed the class for a lot of players. When was the last time you’ve seen a glamor mesmer in WvW or any condi mesmer in sPvP? I never do. Heck, i still have my full Condi gear, Full Ascended condi trinkets that I had to do fractal runs/guild missions/laurels to get. Just sitting in my bank. Never used. It’s still fun to do a bit of roaming with my condi mesmer, but it doesn’t kill nearly as effectively as a power build.

So, are they going to do something with Mind Stab? I doubt it. Not unless a dev just happens to have a secret kitten for the skill.

I’ll agree that Anet has been slow to change a lot of things but they did say Temporal Curtain is working as intended.

It isn’t working as intended. Here’s what happened.

At launch, people would run back and forth over temporal curtain and gain swiftness multiple times. That was not what they intended. How they couldn’t think people were going to do this, I don’t know. So they disable it and made it so that you could get swiftness only once. Great! However, you can only get swiftness from temporal curtain if it is the first swiftness you get. If you already have swiftness, then you do not get swiftness from temporal curtain. That is why it is broken.

It is a screw up that occurred when they initially “fixed” it and they never properly fixed it. It is a huge source of frustration to a class that needs to rely on a weapon for swiftness, and only 12 seconds at that. Just as an example: if someone lays down a symbol of swiftness just before our temporal curtain, then we only get the 4 seconds from the symbol and nothing from the curtain. Broken.

This has been complained about since launch. Since beta, actually. Just a simple radius increase would make the sill better. The fact that a dev actually responded to this saying we’ve been looking at improving this skill is kind of a joke. I appreciate the fact that you guys are responding, but I’m so jaded from the lack of any response from transmutation stones screwing up karma and wvw gear.

So far, I haven’t seen one dev post in the 3 weeks since the April patch about this topic: Since transmutation stones are gone, there is no way to get sigils and runes out of WvW or karma gear to either salvage to sell or transfer to a new set of grear.

This is a big problem.

This doesn’t just apply to karma gear that you buy, there’s a lot of karma gear that are just random drops. Yes, you can use and upgrade extractor, but that costs about 25 G a pop, so that’s not really a solution. Before, it was possible to remove these using a convoluted transmutation process, but more importantly, if we wanted to change or upgrade gear, we could just use the transmutation stone. No big deal. Well, no more.

Here’s just one, real world example: My 2H weapons now holds 2 sigils. I’d like to take the bloodlust sigil from one and put it in the other. Nope, can’t do that. No salvage kit will salvage WvW or Karma gear. I have 6 characters I regularly play with 2-3 sets of armor and multiple weapon sets, many of which are sigil stacking. Almost all my gear has been purchased with WvW badges or karma.

I’m not alone. There are many in my same predicament.

And what about the future? What about the newer players, or the unaware players? Is there a big red warning box that says, “Don’t put any runes or sigils in this gear if you ever want to get them back?” No.

So to save us all the hassle, either make a way for us to salvage WvW and Karma gear or just take it out of the game completely.

Another solution would be to just bring back transmutation stones. Why not have both in the game.

Here’s more proof of how bad the matchmaking is. Not even remotely close match, and this is my second one today. The other team had 3 rank 80s and we had someone stomping with a bunny finisher. How is this even remotely fair?!

BTW, I use my bunny finisher because 1) I think it’s kinda cute, and 2) I wan’t people to think I suck.

Why would you ever permit a system where a rank 1 would ever be on the same team as a rank 100?

I don’t understand why these matches are not bracketed with rankings. For example, only group up players who are ranked 1-20, 5-25, 10-30, etc. Depending on the player pool, expand or contract that. Maybe even make it scale to a larger pool the higher the rankings. I don’t know; I’m not privy to the inside numbers, but do something different.

I’m only rank 44, but I find it infuriating being constantly paired with people who are brand new to PvP. I’ve paid my dues. I know the maps. I know the timing. These guys just follow other players around, cap points and leave, fight off point, and die easily. I find myself getting angrier and frustrated and I end up saying things in chat that I regret. I play now just for the rewards, and i stop playing when the rewards don’t outweigh my anger anymore.

Of course, part of the terrible aspect of PvP is the lack of build diversity, but that is another topic altogether, but it does affect general matchmaking.

I’m not here to teach others how to play; pay me for that. That’s what a pvp guild is for.

This is kind of a bad idea. It would be unfair to the person on the other team being locked out, just because someone on the other team didnt show up. And looking for someone to join a game in progress is a bad idea as well, because of the possibility of joining a losing team.

Well, it’s not a bad idea according to your post. The person joining late would be joining an even, 4v4 match.

If someone can’t wait in spawn for an extra minute, or whatever, for the game to fill the opponents slot, then they need to take some Ridalyn.

How is there not massive botting in PvP? Since all you have to do is participate in a match, you get rewarded. All you have to do is sit in spawn. I imagine this is really simple to program.

Along the lines of no reply….

I know most of this tread is about town clothes. While I sympathise, for me, it isn’t really a pressing issue as the lack of transmutation stones and WvW and karma gear. That is actually directly affecting my effectiveness in the game. I, and many others like myself, have tons of gear with idle runes and sigils in them that we’d love to use, but can’t. Buying all new gear (because you don’t want to put runes and sigils in karma or WvW gear anymore), new sigils, and new runes is not a solution and would cost hundreds of gold. Buying extractors is not a solution and would cost thousands of gold.

Why is this not more of an outrage?

A solution to 4v5

I’m pretty sure the game doesn’t start a match until there are 5 people on each side. Unfortunately, due to a glitch, or a player exits the game, or a crash, or some other reason, the match starts with 4 players. Due to how the game currently works, that 5th spot can’t be filled, because it is still holding it for that player who is not in the match, but offline, or whatever. That is what needs to change.

@ Kitty. My cycling solution would help the beginning of the match most. If there are only 4 people on one side, the last one who would be out the gate on the 5 man team, wouldn’t be able to leave. Therefore, it would be 4v4.

I’m not a big PvPer. I almost never read these forums, so I don’t know if this has been suggested. I can’t believe it hasn’t. I hate winning via 4v5 and I hate it even more loosing to 4v5. It seems so simple, so why hasn’t it been done yet?

If there is a match that starts that is a 4v5, then make it so that the 5th person on the “5” team can’t leave spawn. They will be able to leave when the first player who dies respawns. This will keep cycling.

Meanwhile, after a set amount of time after the match has begun, just grab a new person who is looking for a group in the que system. Whoever didn’t get into the match gets the dishonored debuff. It seems that the way the system works now is that it just fills up slots of 5 and moves on to a new group of 5.

Is it really that difficult to do the above?

I think all you people who play sub 80s and complaining about the transmutation conversion are the extreme minority. I’ve received enough tomes of knowledge, scrolls of knowledge, and that first 1-20 thing that I’ve created 2 level 80 alts and have enough for a 3rd. With these items in the game, why would anyone be sub 80? BTW, that’s a rhetorical question.

Well, got on my warrior, cause it’s needed, and my bloodlust sigil is in… A WvW weapon. They are selling now for between 9-13 G. Not buying another one. Please give me a way to get my bloodlust sigils, amongst other things, out of my stuff. I’ve really getting angry now. It’s been almost 2 weeks with no response on this issue.

No, because there are no transmutation stones, so I can’t change up my gear (pretty much all bought with WvW badges or karma), consolidate my sigils on 2H weapons, etc. When they fix this, I’ll play my alts more.

I’m sure this has been brought up a bunch of time. I don’t think I’ve posted yet in this thread, but I started another thread on the topic and posted in a different thread, so, obviously, many people are having an issue.

We can not salvage our WvW or Karma gear. This is a big issue because transmutation stones are gone and we have no way of getting the expensive runes and sigils out of our gear to consolidate or make a new set with all the rune / sigil changes. On top of that, it makes buying a new set of WvW or karma gear obsolete as if we socket any of that gear, we will have no way of retrieving said runes / sigils.

Many people, like myself, have obtained most of their gear through karma and WvW. Fore example, most players had a stacking sigil weapon which we would swap out once we obtained 25 stacks. Now, we can’t do that, so if we want to utilize stacking sigils, we need to combine them into the extra slot now available. But, we can’t salvage one weapon to get out a rune, so our only course is to buy 2 new runes AND new weapons in fear of this never getting fixed. That’s ridiculous. Another example: my ele. Since boon duration has been nerfed, my water/monk/traveler is useless. So, I made some new runes, cost me about 50G. I sure as hell am not going to put those into the same armor for fear I won’t get them back. I’m not going to replace the traveller, they’re expensive. So, I also have to spend about 12 G making a new set of armor. That’s about as far as I want to go with new stuff.

I have 10 characters with multiple sets of armor and weapons. I’m not the only one in this situation, especially when it comes to the weapons.

I assume this is just a huge over-site. Please fix this ASAP.

The “Upgrade extractor” is still available in the Gem Store (TP). Better than the stones because it leaves the item and upgrade intact (but separate). Or is that just an oversight on ANET’s part?

The upgrade extractor costs about 25 G as of this writing. How is that useful for extracting a rune worth between 4 to 10 Gold? I could always retrieve the rune/sigil with transmutation stones.

I’ve started threads, and posted in other threads on this same issue. It pertains to karma items as well, as we can’t salvage them. God forbid we socket something into anything WvW or Karma. Please come up with a solution.

Just bumping again to try to keep it in the public eye regarding this issue of hundereds of gold being lost unless a solution is made re: lack of transmutation stones. You, Anet, created this mess. You brought about some great changes, like finally being able to put 2 runes into a 2 hander. Now, please, just give us a way to get runes out of some of our 2 handers to put into the others. Thanks.

I’m sure this has been brought up a bunch of time. I don’t think I’ve posted yet in this thread, but I started another thread on the topic and posted in a different thread, so, obviously, many people are having an issue.

We can not salvage our WvW or Karma gear. This is a big issue because transmutation stones are gone and we have no way of getting the expensive runes and sigils out of our gear to consolidate or make a new set with all the rune / sigil changes. On top of that, it makes buying a new set of WvW or karma gear obsolete as if we socket any of that gear, we will have no way of retrieving said runes / sigils.

Many people, like myself, have obtained most of their gear through karma and WvW. Fore example, most players had a stacking sigil weapon which we would swap out once we obtained 25 stacks. Now, we can’t do that, so if we want to utilize stacking sigils, we need to combine them into the extra slot now available. But, we can’t salvage one weapon to get out a rune, so our only course is to buy 2 new runes AND new weapons in fear of this never getting fixed. That’s ridiculous. Another example: my ele. Since boon duration has been nerfed, my water/monk/traveler is useless. So, I made some new runes, cost me about 50G. I sure as hell am not going to put those into the same armor for fear I won’t get them back. I’m not going to replace the traveller, they’re expensive. So, I also have to spend about 12 G making a new set of armor. That’s about as far as I want to go with new stuff.

I have 10 characters with multiple sets of armor and weapons. I’m not the only one in this situation, especially when it comes to the weapons.

I assume this is just a huge over-site. Please fix this ASAP.

Here’s an idea. Why don’t you guys figure out a way to salvage WvW items and get badges back. If we salvage karma gear, we get karma back. Yeah, we’d get the rune, so the prices of Melandru will tank, but so what. Runes of Strength have skyrocketed. But please fix this. I have so many 2 handed weapons with bloodlust sigils, etc.

Actually, maybe that’s not a good idea. That sounds too complicated. Just let us salvage this gear for crying out loud.

Yup, I’ve been playing more pvp now, and I really think you guys screwed the pooch on this.

It seems that in PvE / WvW, I can come up with any build I want and make my equipment compensate for the changes in stats. There are so many variables with foods, jewel inserts, wearing different rings over trinkets over ammys, I can really tweek things the way I want.

PvP wasn’t like this. It was really hard to hit stat points I wanted while going for a build I wanted. Sometimes, it just wasn’t possible so, I just learned to play differently to compensate.

Now? Forget it. I just, flat out, can’t run some builds because I can’t get the equipment to compensate for the stat changes. It seems that you pick your ammy first and see just how bad your remaining stats are and try to come up with a build that isn’t so bad.

You guys did some brilliant things with the quest pathing, and consolidating skins. Please bring this diversity back.

So, Anet has always said that they want build diversity. It has always been obvious to me that PvP was an exception. But now, it seems even more so.

I’m specifically writing about how we can no longer mix amulet gems with different amulets. It was pretty bad, imo, being limited by those stats to begin with, but now? Great, we got rabid and knight, but who cares if we can’t tweek things based on our rune set or trait line to compensate? I don’t even want to get started on the rune thing. I wan’t this topic to focus just on the amulets. Was this really an issue before? I never heard anyone anywhere complaining that they had too many choices.

I just don’t understand.

I’ve experienced almost no skill lag post patch. This has been a huge improvement for me. Whatever you did, it seems to be working great.

However, I have been getting some crashes to character select. Don’t know if that has to do with the change. Also, many of my fellow players are reporting still having a lot of lag even though I’m experiencing almost none at all.

Either way, great improvement.

Nothing yet? I just realized that since I need to revamp my ele since boon duration got nerfed, I need to get some expensive runes, but wait, I can’t easily get a whole new set of gear with Karma, cause I’d be an idiot to put 60 G worth of runes in karma gear right now.

Please come up with a solution to this.

Can’t remove runes from gear without destroying the gear or using a cash shop extractor.
Can’t guarantee getting a rune back salvaging unless you use the cash shop salvage kits.
Can’t move runes to new gear because of the transmutation stone changes.
Can’t salvage certain gear at all, have to buy extractors.
Or go buy new runes from the flipper’s paradise. I’m sure they’ll love your business.

Why would anyone want to play a game that puts you in this situation?

This is not news. This has been true for almost 2 years. Why the sudden rancor?

Because we used to be able to use transmutation stones to transfer the runes to new equipment. We can’t do that anymore, so runes worth a descent amount are stuck in them. Also, god forbid we put any decent new rune in a new piece of karma or WvW gear in fear we’ll never be able to recover it.

Please, make salvage kits salvage karma or WvW gear. Please. I have so many bloodlust or melandru, or whatever that I need to get since my current sets are useless. For example, the old elementalist water/monk/traveler or consolidating bloodlust with my other weapons so I don’t loose stacks.
