Please fix the "Traitor Guards"

I’ve noticed this mostly happens in the hills keeps. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s the guards that spawn for the opposite team, then the other guards attack. This causes a couple different problems.

1) Makes the location contested. This diverts troops to find out what’s going on. If there’s a waypoint, it makes it unusable.

2) Diverts attention. People will stop to kill the guards rather than moving on to another more important issue

3) If there’s a dead enemy nearby, there’s the possibility that over time, they can be resurrected inside the keep. This is just wrong.

Please fix this. It has been going on far too long.

Great fighting last week and this week. Tonight has been hell on our (BG) BL.

With all the crap going on recently, Just wanted to make a pre-emtive post re our taking of kitten10:40. If you recall, we were pushing it for a while. When we breached, a mez and a thief stayed inside. They were in for about 40 minutes while SOR was fighting us at Titan and harrassing our yaks. You guys killed the mez, but the thief was still alive and rezed the mez. We had 4 golems ported up to the inner north. After we took it, SoR was trying the same thing. We found your mez, killed him, but the thief was still alive. Took like 30 of us to finally kill him. BTW, a couple of your thieves, or maybe it’s just one, has been so infuriating. They kill our yaks and we just can’t kill the kitten guy. Actually, it’s a human woman with red hair, I think. Anyway.

Yeah, I still don’t get the scoring system. It seems like it tries to make everyone in a tier reach a median. Despite the fact that BG is winning, it is loosing substantially in over all rating, and despite the fact that IoJ is loosing, it is gaining substantially in overall rating. This tells me that the future will consist of all of us playing again and again. For now, I’m fine with that. We’ve had great fights. But will this get stale after 4 or 5 weeks? What happens if BG wins every match, but only by 5000 points? The same thing will happen with tier 1 and 3, so there is little chance of the 3rd place finisher in tier 1 bumping down and the 1st place finisher in tier two going up. Same thing between tier 2 and 3. This is what baffles me about the scoring.

Please, Anet, do not listen to all the whiners complaining about thieves and mezmers.

While I agree to a certain extent with your decision to prevent stealthed characters from capping, be very cautious about any more changes to the classes themselves. I play both classes. Playing a thief is very hard. One has to have the timing just right and know exactly which skills to use to stay stealthed while fighting an enemy. I still stack a lot of toughness as a thief but am still squishy. Stealthing, movement, and speed are our defense. People say they do too much damage. but like with any class, those guys are glass cannons, and can be killed very easily. You guys already nerfed my mezmer a great deal. I can’t do any damage to players on a wall unless they are right on the edge. I have to waste 10 trait points in order to reduce my portal cool down. I can’t target invulnerable players (i really don’t understand that). I’ve seen people complain about how they have to re-aquire the target if they go into stealth. Really? This is a big deal? This is a computer game. If you want to just button mash, go play a console. So, please, keep the classes dynamic and interesting, and don’t listen to everyone who says this class or that class is OP.

OK, I know there’s a post describing the math behind the ratings, but I just don’t understand the end result. I’m on Blackgate, and even though we won, we lost in overall ratings and the second place finisher went up. Does this make any sense?

I’ve been stuck on this quest for about 3 weeks. Many have been stuck longer, and more are just encountering this. I submitted a report. I responded on the forums.

I love this game. You guys provide so much content. The Halloween event was great, and you have something more planned for this month. Fantastic.

That aside, it is in my layman’s opinion that the fact that this issue has not been fixed yet is wholly unacceptable and frustrating beyond belief. During the 5 weeks or so that this started, there have been numerous patches and hotfixes. The fact that your able to implement a hotfix which changes the coding of the game to fix an issue is proof that your team can respond quickly to a situation. So why haven’t you had this issue fixed yet?

My enthusiasm towards this game is waning.

Very nice little trick that JQ did tonight to take the hills. You guys talked so much smack on BG last week for being hackers. We caught you red handed screenshots, videos were taken. I hope everyone in the screen shots and video we have get you banned.

Truth. My group caught you guys once trying it, and you all fled. I just assumed you all were regrouping somewhere inconspicuous. After that, we had a full zerg checking for mesmers and found none.

10 minutes later, Lord room under attack with no walls taken. Maybe we missed a mesmer, but I highly doubt it.

Overall until that point, great fights and epic battles. Terrible that a few guilds decided to ruin it though. (SS and videos WERE in fact taken)

I don’t think so. The inner walls of the keep were never breached, ever, so you couldn’t have had a mezmer inside. You guys magically appeared right on the bridge. There was no contention. We were able to port back to the keep while you guys were fighting inside the lord room. There was no breach to the inner gate after you guys portaled there. I was there. We have a video and screenshots of the whole thing and they are being sent to A-net.

I’m from BG. We, in our guild, and others that we group with and even just loosely group with for teamwork and communication (I’m not an officer or anything, just know from experience and by no means represent anyone), we do not tolerate hacking, or even any shenanigans that can ruin or hurt our game-play and chances of winning. We find the fun in W3 to win in an honest way with hard work, communication, and winning tactics. That being said, I’m sure if you can verify someone hacking, post a video or something verifiable. Besides Anet banning them, I’m sure they will soon find themselves guildless. But, please don’t post that so and so was hacking without verifiable proof other than anecdotal evidence.

Keep in mind, there is always a few bad eggs on every server. We’ve been hacked before by opposing servers many times. It happens, just report it and move on.

So glad to be playing in tier one and am looking forward to a great week-long fight.

OMG I wish i read this right when it was posted. After the Halloween event started, I had 26 mystery tonics and immediately destroyed them, as I find them a waste of an inventory slot.

A few thoughts.

I don’t know about all this dancing on corpses thing. I havn’t personally seen this myself. It’s unsportsmanlike if it does happen. One thing: do not confuse it with a tactic. Sometimes, a person will stay dead in an area in order to relay intel. A few of us will stand/sit on or near him to keep him from seeing what’s going on.

I’m on BG and have been from the start. A large part of the reason why we are tierd up with you guys is because we gave up early in the week last week. There were no que times for EB most of the time. The stupid thing is that we were only 10K behind 2nd place. Can’t remember who was 2nd, but they put up a hell of a fight. If we fought back with all our muster, we would have been 2nd easily. I know we could have done it. Hopefully, that won’t happen again.

TC has been a huge pain in the kitten They have implemented good tactics. Constant camp raiding with large numbers. Starving us of supply. I wasted so much silver upgrading a camp/tower only to have it taken shortly after. Unfortunately, most of the players on my server don’t believe in defence in certain circumstanses.

There’s been a lot of talk how we have a huge amount of more players. That might be true sometimes. But one thing i don’t understand is that there’s only a limited number of players allowed on a map at a time. I play mostly very late at night, usually until 7 AM EST. I can tell you that when i’m on that late, we have barely enough to do anything, except maybe defend or take an objective or two. Granted, we still probably have more than you, but there have been many times this week (I’m thinking specifically on FA boarderlands a couple nights ago) where the garrison walls were down for hours. It was a long, slow process of defending/pushing to take LV and Cliffside back in order to repair walls, hold it, and take the towers in order to have a buffer. We must have had about only 20-25 people on. Heck, I remember that we had the walls to Cliffside down for a while, but we didn’t even have enough people to capture it. Some of them were in the south defending against TC. We had to abandon that in order to get the 3 or 4 players down there just to capture cliffside.

On the flip side. I logged in to W3 again, late at night. EB was full. Looked at another map, saw that the waypoint for DB was contested on FA boarderlands, and got worried. Went there, saw crossed swords at the inner and outer keep. DB had the orb. Oh crap. I didn’t even waste a second more to find out what was going on. I went to the other boarderlands. Saw one with some commanders on it and reported the seituation to ask for help. Very quickly, within 5 minutes, we had the full force of everyone else in W3. We pushed back and wiped the map. The point is, fast response is essential. Now, did FA have everyone in W3 on that offensive? I don’t know. Did kitteno the other maps and say, get over here. We need help. We are getting pushed back and we’re about to capture an orb, but got no response? If so, that totally blows. I’m sorry.

I do agree that orb buffs are stupid. The reward should be limited to extra karma or something. Having extra health etc is totally unfair.

On a closing thought. Because I’ve been on BG from the beginning, I have some stupid pride in my server. It’s stupid because it’s a game and, in the end, meaningless. But it’s there none-the-less. It’s tht pride and fight that is going to make me want to keep at it in the face of overwhelming odds. Wanting to win. And having fun, much like many of the TC players have posted here. I personally don’t want people playing who are just in it to be on a winning server, because next week, we are going to need that fighting spirit/pride, and those players are probably not even going to log in if we start to get into 3rd place anyway and they will just hold up the que times for the players who actually care. Also, it takes time to develop a comradery with your fellow pvpers and commanders. Knowing who to follow and who not to. Some new commander transfers over here may not know what the hell he’s doing and take away attention from a commander who’s been here a while who does, who knows his troops, and who has a large guild to communicate with, but can’t because they can’t get in the que. Stick with your own server. Help build it. Take some pride in the name.

Quick comment regarding those talking about TC doesn’t try for Stonemist…

Back in the beginning of the match I suggested taking and holding SM (We had blown several holes in the outer walls already). When I asked why we don’t hold it, I got two answers.

1: It gets all the attention on us and we end up facing 2-on-1.
2: Stonemist changes hands so often it’s not really worth it.

Now admittedly SM is only 25 points, but still, if you can hold it for an amount of time it would certainly help. I find those to be silly reasons personally, but if a lot of people think that…

It all depends on our opponents. 2 Match-ups ago, we (TC) held SM the entire week. These last 2 weeks, it certainly would have proved a futile use of resources for us to attempt to hold SM for any amount of time. Though we did wrangle it away briefly Friday and Saturday nights.

Might have been said already, but SM is 35 points. It is also the key to EB once the waypoint is built. The problem is, you have to be able to hold it, build it, protect it, and build siege. It is the staging ground for the rest of the map. If you don’t have those resources to hold it, then there is no point, except to drain the enemies resources.

Aeden, during that last BG/DB/FA match, didn’t a significant handful of DB WvW guilds jump from DB to BG mid-match? Maybe it was a herculean effort to a degree, but if your primary opposition jumped to your server, allowing a surge in points based on the shift of opposition to your side of the fence, then that kinda paints a bit more of a picture.

Nope, we saw that the score was close most of the match, then the leaders started pulling away. I think they just rested on their laurels thinking they won, but we perceviered. We didn’t get any influx of people 2 weeks ago. That only started a bit last week.

I see, so whoever has the biggest zerg wins? That’s so not true. 15 can hold off 50 at a properly defended tower. I’ve held off a hoard for over an hour in the lord room with like 15-20 on our team with arrow carts and ballistae untill reinforcments signed on (it was like 9AM when they finally gave up.) How you delploy your forces, speed of reaction to the enemy, what you’ve invested money into, what objectives you take, and who you’re taking them from are critical.

OMG seriously? I play a thief and engineer. This is ludicrous. Granted, I don’t have a glass cannon build, and I’m working my way to get rid of my condition damage build which is great for pve, but some of your posts are just dumb. You’re all complaining about this ability or that ability is OP. Well, guess what? If we use them, they are on cool down, then we don’t have them for a while. Just like you! I’ve been owned by other classes, killed in 2 seconds. I’ve been burst killed by thieves myself. I couldn’t kill a guy for the life of me. I’ve seen warriors, or something like that get wailed on by 5 guys and not die. Rangers can shoot farther than anyone. Mezmers are a pain in the kitten and can port a whole army to your location (that’s not OP?). Whaaa! A thief killed me in 2 seconds. Well, maybe so, but if you’ve got a friend near you, that thief will probably die cause all their kitten is on CD cause they just wasted all their kitten to get to you and waste you. What good is that? Yeah, one on one, thieves are great, but you’ve got to be skilled at them. I am not too great at being a thief and could never play like Wahii above. Skill in your class is a huge factor. There is no god mode. Also, why the heck are you kittening about being able to stack crit/power stuff? So can you on whatever class you’re playing. That’s the dumbest argument.

Quit complaining about thiefs being OP and learn to play your class better and utalize your classes streangths and weaknesses.

Common guys! It’s 6 PM EST. I was just on IoJ’s Boarderlands. We lost 2 keeps, one of them had an orb. We had literally 10 people on the map. Wasted siege and upgrades. WTF guys? Yeah, we’ll never catch up for 1st, but 2nd is still close. So log in and take back blue assets. Give them no points and we’ll increase ours. Go Go Go!

I don’t think you get WvW and the idea behind the maps.

They are equalizers of skill. The boarderlands are the same on purpose. Each server has it’s own central spawn zone. Each server has a spawn zone on the SE and SW side of an enemy map. The exception is EB which changes your spawn zone each week, but each area is roughly the same. This way, no one has a tactical advatage due to geography.

I think this is well thought out and brilliant.

We’re in a tough battle right now, and I’m sick and tired of spending gold on buying siege, upgrading stuff, being one of the very few, sometimes only person running outside supply to build stuff, only to see a fully upgraded, fully stocked garrison fall because the commander is trying to take a keep with his little friends. I have seen this all this week. Granted, we are going against a very tough server, but there’s still no excuse for this bad attitude of “eh, we can’t win, they have too many people, might as well try to take an objective.” What the heck for? I’ve held off an attacking force in the lord room for 2 hours untill more eventually came. You get…… I’m rambling.

This is brilliant and Anet should do this. I’m also all in favor of most of the rebutals. Being able to turn off the icon solves tons of problems.

For me, it’st he chili pepper. It’s very low level. I don’t think I’ve found 1 (I have a level 80 & 72, and I’ve been working on map completion so I wander a lot). There is a ton of food that is dependent on this. 14 direct recepies, 10 secondary, and 10 tirciary (ie, the derivatives of the direct recepies, etc). That’s 34 recepies according to the GW2 wiki. and as of this writing, one on the TP goes for 2s2c-2s50c. There is no karma vendor for these that I’m aware of.

Currency Exchange: I don't quite get it. Please explain

Nope. I don’ t buy that explanation. I’ve exchanged currency lots of times when travelling. There might be a small service fee. If I was trading currency on the markets (which I don’t), the service fees are miniscule. Also, currency exchange on markets are fairly direct, so if the prices go up or down a small amount, I can re trade my currency for a profit.

Here, it seems like one can’t do that. In my OP, theres a greater than 50% descrepency between the exchange rates. So, while I can sell my original gems and make a profit of 1S 52C, I seems that even if the prices of gems do drop in order for me to repurchase gems, they won’t drop by more than 50% for me to get back into the game. If I were to re-purchase gems, even if they do fall somewhat, I’d be in the hole.

Maybe I just don’t understand commodity exchanges, And I’ve come to expect that I’m gonna have to spend more on gems now, I just don’t understand the vast difference between the two numbers that I described in my OP.

OK, so I’ve been wanting to buy some gems for a while now, but I’ve noticed the price of them keeps going up. Earlier on, I bought a few gems for 20S and have 78 gems. As of this writing, if I spent 20S, I get 51 gems. OK, that sucks. I’ll have to think about that Well, maybe I could make some money on the gems I do have. But, right now, if I sold my gems, I’d only make 21S 52C. That seems off. Back on the gem purchase tab, I’d have to spend 30S 20C to get 78 gems. Wait, what? Well, shouldn’t I be able to sell my gems for that much?

I just don’t get it. Can someone explain what’s going on here?

I looked through 5 pages on the forum and did a couple searches. Don’t want to waste any more time on this.

My 2 cents.

I originally noticed this topic to maybe learn a little something about the TP. I have. There are some smart people here.

All in all, the way i see it, things boil down to this: The OP comes across to me as someone who is trying to play the market and is not 100% successful at it as he was hoping to be. He’s justkitten off that he got some sell prices wrong and is being undercut. 1c or 1s, it makes no difference. It seems you want the game to change to your tastes so you can have an easier time to make money rather than accept the extremely simple economics that exist in GW2. I do not accept your altruistic attitude that “I’m just concerned about the game and love it and you better do something I say or it will break.” BS. There have been numerous, well thought, well explained posts that showed how your suggestions would be bad. You decided not to listen or learn from them. You just want to keep kittening. “Waaahhh. I can’t sell my thing because it got undercut by 1c, then that got undercut by 1c. Waaaah.” Figure it out! I suggest you can’t, because I read this thread and learned. You’re just being defensive and using a bunch of big words and terms (or a plethora of paramount nomenclature) to make yourself sound smarter than you think you are and using your attitude and misguided vocabulary as the foundation to why your argument is right. It’s fine to have an idea, post it, and argue it for a bit, but let it go already. This thread has moved on.

I’m just a lyamen, so I don’t really know, but wouldn’t limiting the amount of supply of people, and therefore stuff, just drive prices so high, no one would be able to afford them because gold drop rates would be the same (i feel like i’m missing some higher end economic concept here though)?

Also, one might argue that the ratio of stuff to people is the same whether it’s on one server or all servers, because it’s the same game with the same drop rates, but it isn’t. Not all servers are created the same. There are different populations. Also, does a server by itself offer enough diversity? It’s the diversity of players who farm for themselves, farm for selling, buy and sell for utility, etc. that creates the market. Also, one needs to look beyond the economic argument and try to figure out how that would effect the game. I could forsee people creating characters on different servers, then seeing what is selling high on one server (like a low pop serverver), buying it low on another, then transferring that character to another server. So, you’d be almost back to where you were to begin with with a worldwide TP.

My personal stance is having the in game economy be free market. It’s a wonderful thing. The thing that I really don’t want is anything that would screw things up to the point where we get a barter system or a black market. I do not want to see my chat window scrolling a milllion miles an hour filled with WTB and WTS and website ads.

I feel the same way. My server has 0 holdings right now. We have struggled to gain anything, then have it crushed. Right now, the score is 293,785 / 130,175 / 100,180. I have found that I do not enjoy being obsenely crushed all the time. I have a feeling that others feel the same way, and when they look on that WvW tab and see that our server is just a sliver in the pie chart, they don’t bother logging in. I know I sometimes feel that way, so why wouldn’t others. This creates a perpetual cycle where we never have the numbers to take and hold things. I know this is the case, because at the beninning of the match, or when we have about 20% or more of the pie, there are que times.

This 7 day match up seems to be taking forever and is dragging on. Something like 3 or 4 days seems better. If your crushed, your crushed. No need to rub it in our servers face for 3 or 4 days more.

I purchased the Windows client. I really was looking forward to this game, and purchased it soon after release. I’d be interested in trying to run this on my Mac OS. I’m currently using Bootcamp, and the game is running great, but I’d be interested in trying it on my Mac OS. However, I don’t want to purchase a new client. Is there a plan to provide a limited time free purchase for those who bought the Windows client?

OK, so still no answer from my ticket or a reply to this post, so I created another character. Human, thief. Same profession as my other character, sigh. At level 4 started to explore the country side, and crash to desktop. Upon logging back in, and selecting the character, I am, AGAIN, stuck on the Queensdale load screen. WTF? 2 different characters, same map? Please look into this asap! I’m afraid to take anyone to Queensdale, and as of now, it is a game breaker.
