I know you think you’re absolutely, undeniably right about this, but you’re wrong. Even with idiots using zoom hacks, there are still a ton of viable placements that cannot be targeted from outside, regardless of hack or just extended FOV, you just have to experiment to find them.

I knew saving this old video would I found long ago would come in handy: (Smiles!)

(Link)

But hey, apparently you think that FoV and zoom hacks are just something we need to learn to avoid and deal with!

By the way, feel free to post a video of something proving your point. (Smiley face!)

Oh yeah also, I thought it’s worth it to point out (For those in need it pointed out) that Dragons Tooth, since it has no line of sight requirement, has the same flexibility as an arrow cart; (or at least, pre-nerfed arrow carts) you just need to click on your target, which you can do if you can see what they can see!

In case you still are not following this line of thought, this is the point very simply: If you think Arrow Carts were a problem, Dragon’s Tooth is also a problem.

Yeah, that video is not zoom hacking. you can aim the AC over the door or through the slits. That’s why you build the treb in the corner of inner.

I agree with most of what’s being said. Without regular tournaments, we are severely limited to the mistforged weapons. There should be other weapon skins available. The WvW armor no one wants because we can’t salvage it. There have been many great ideas in the forums about a possible reward system.

But I have to object to some peoples seemingly knee-jerk complaints. I have ascened mats coming out my kitten , even though I still consume them with Maudry and Princess. Ascended gear is easily attainable, but instead of making it, i sell some of the mats and make a lot of gold. I craft other things to make gold, I flip things on the tp to make gold. I get lots of rares and exotics in WvW. Sell those to make gold. I sell my greens and make gold. Basically, between all that, I never have to run a dungeon, and my crafting time is nominal, and I have enough to buy a precursor after a few months. If a legendary is really what I wanted, I would never have to enter the new pve maps in HoT, so I don’t understand what all that complaining is about.

PvE Stability Useless, yes USELESS!

Guys, the stab change was made specifically around the new champs and event bosses with HoT. That’s it. It’s in an old post, which I just don’t want to try to find. It wasn’t balanced around pvp or any existing pve content. They totally screwed up the entire game because of HoT. No one in WvW likes this. It has totally lagged the game even more due to the higher amount of calculations necessary and communications back and forth. No one in WvW likes the change. It was never an issue in existing PvE.

They didn’t want groups fighting the new champs and event bosses to have perma stability. That is the sole reason why they did this.

Solution for Mesmers in Keeps

in WvW

Spurnshadow.3678

Wow, you guys that think this is so easy by linking stealth reveal crap don’t know what you’re talking about. None of those traits work if the mesmer is too far away to hit. None of those traits work if the mesmer is already stealthed and now far away. None of those traits work if they portaled to the other side of the keep and you have to hunt them down again. It usually takes 10-15 people to hunt down a mesmer in a reasonable amount of time. You don’t just wait 60 seconds, Jayne, as their stuff goes back off CD, especially if they were able to get away and hide for a little bit. I think many of you just don’t know how much of an incredible waste of time this is. This is not a feature that adds a new layer to the game play. WvW has been out for 3 years now. This was introduced a couple months ago.

Ever since the June 23rd patch, we’ve wasted a ton of time in WvW trying to find and kill mesmers. This will only be worse in HoT. If you haven’t played the beta, then kitten.

Solution for Mesmers in Keeps

in WvW

Posted by: Spurnshadow.3678

Spurnshadow.3678

Here’s an idea.

Mesmers are now the most annoying class for a group after they’ve capped a keep. Don’t get me wrong, I play a mesmer a lot of the time. There’s nothing more annoying than having to hunt down a mesmer, or even spend longer now just seeing if there is one. This will be even worse with HoT as keeps are much larger, more good places to hide, and with Chronomancer, will be able to perma-stealth, not just stealth for 45 seconds.

Possible solution: give all guards infrared vision and revealing shots. That way, if the mesmer is anywhere near a guard, they can’t be stealthed.

Spurnshadow.3678

So, after reading the stuff on the new berserk mode for warriors, this sounds godlike.

Traits:

Smash Brawler: Reduce the recharge skill of your primal burst skills by 5s when you kill a foe. This basically means after a certain point in a fight, which can be very short, you’ll be able to just spam your berserk skill. No CD

Dead or Alive: If you take fatal damage while Berserking, you will prevent the death and heal you for a flat amount + amount of adrenaline you have left. This will end the Berserk mode early. Minimum heal: 2600. No CD

Eternal Champion: Get pulsing stability in Berserk mode. Gain stability also when you break a stun. Basically permanent Stability. With Cleansing Ire and other adrenal traits, you’ll just re-enter berserk mode in a few seconds.

Combine those above traits with Cleansing Ire for near instant adrenaline refill as well as other adrenaline traits, and you’ll just be able to spam F1 with something op, like the new hammer skill which does an aoe knockback, insane dps, and a blast finisher.

Spurnshadow.3678

This sounds like a nightmare. Yes, it took a lot of thought to come up with a very egalitarian system, that’s how I see it. However, in doing so, you’ve expanded the WvW universe way more than it already is. In order for people to get any kind of “action,” people will naturally migrate towards certain globes. This will happen every week as that will be the learned place to go. That will be highly unfair to whichever server is hosting the maps that people will migrate towards. This is essentially creating a mega-server system that will punish the few servers that ends up hosting all the players.

WvW needs to shrink, not expand.

Wow, that ’s a good idea. Oh wait it already exists, better, they already exist. Crafting areas in pve capitals. Just remove it from wvw, remove mobs as well while you are there. Ty

Naw I use it to change gear, get siege, food etc .. you can use the banking side of the crafting tables to get/store stuff. Having an actual banker on map helps too, but if you don’t have the banker upgrade in your keep (worse still, you don’t own any property), then you have no options to swap stuff out.

You can access your bank from the guild rep on every map. “I want to access the guild bank.” > Change the drop down menu on the top left to personal account vault. No need for crafting stations. Get rid of them. They don’t belong in WvW.

Now I realize why there's no balance forum

in WvW

Posted by: Spurnshadow.3678

Spurnshadow.3678

This game does not have balance because there are so many builds. There is not one build that can survive everything or kill everything. Like some posters have already said, you need to run away, or change up your armoring, traits, and foods to counter a PU Mesmer. Condi clearing is not the answer, killing them fast is. If you’ve very defensive by having a ton of cleanses, then you’re constantly backpedaling.

Other posters have stated already, PU mesmers have very little condi clear, so, since the OP is a guardian, if you are a condi build, like a fire, medi guard, you will down him very fast.

PU mesmers are also susceptible to any interrupt build, like hammer warrior, or engis with all those god kitten knockbacks and knockdowns (I don’t play an engi, so I don’t know what the hell it is, but it’s frustrating as all hell). That’s the great thing about this game, imo. You can’t win every fight.

Spurnshadow.3678

I think their concept of the towers has been lost on you. They have tremendous value. Because they have WPs, it is immensely important for the opposite team to hold them while assaulting a keep. They also make it longer for the defending team to get back to the keep if they die. This is very important for when assaulting the northern keep. It also helps to defend your keep from the north as it forces them to travel longer distances and they have less options to travel to your keep. There’s a lot of gameplay revolving around the towers.

I agree that 10% incoming and outgoing damage is too high. It’s nice to have buffs, though, and makes the shrines have strategic value. Otherwise it would be very stale. Especially considering that they nerfed camps and got rid of BL. BTW, I really liked the bloodlust buff. It makes a huge difference to an uder-populated server as far as ppt, and again, adds strategy. It forces you to make a choices rather than assault keep endlessly. It also encourages the small havoc teams and roamers to go after those, which can help to reduce zerging. Again, 10% is too much.

Spurnshadow.3678

While camps are rather meaningless, roamers will still probably go after them just for the XP, karma, rewards, and to be a nuissance, but even if they didn’t, there’s still a lot for roamers to do. The shrines are very important, and are a new strategic aspect. Many hate the buffs to the shrines, find them EotM like, or PvE like. I personally don’t care and welcome the added strategy. I’ve always been a big fan of the re-worked center of the BL maps and the bloodlust that came with them. It’s a shame to get rid of those. PPK is a great way for lower populated servers to gain PPT over larger populated servers. I wish you didn’t get rid of it.

That being said, the air and fire turrets have to go. We want to fight people, not the environment. With the mid-march patch, stability became rather useless and a more needed commodity. There are many classes, like backliners, who just don’t run with stability. Add on top of this the new generator siege, those air turrets will be the most annoying aspect of the map. This isn’t just a “zerg busting” mechanic, it will hurt any sized group. Just get rid of it. The fire turrets aren’t as bad, as they just do damage, but again, why have it? This is player vs. player. It seems like a real gimmicky mechanic put in to help very low population servers. If that’s the case, get rid of them and force server consolidation, or whatever, just get rid of this, please.

Another thing that just needs to go are the champion wyverns in the NE of the map. I couldn’t figure out what purpose they serve, but what will happen is farmers will just clog the ques and go form BL to BL killing these champs. If you really want to keep them in the game, then make it so they don’t drop any loot so the farmers won’t come after they’ve learned that.

I’m really looking forward to playing my mesmer and hiding in a keep somewhere. I’ve already found lots of nooks and crannies to hid in. I suspect you put them there just for us. Thanks for that!

There are too many NPC creatures around. At the top, I stated that with the lack of WPs in keeps, it’s going to take a long time to get to the north. This will just slow us down even more. What’s worse, they will be ways for enemies to rally. That is the last thing we want as WvWers. I think it’s fine to have a few here and there. It adds to the ambiance, but once we leave spawn, it almost feels like a pve map. This has been a huge complaint for years in the WvW community. Please listen and cull the herds.

The center event: in many posts, you’ve stated that this was something for smaller groups to do. I don’t see that. I see it as being a zergfest with smaller groups trying to havoc objectives. A zerg will be able to complete the event much faster than small gorups. If they succeed, said zerg, being in the center of the map, is now ideally positioned to assault a keep. Again, too many NPCs in the area to aggro, but what’s worse, they’re veterans. This is just added damage we don’t need. And if you think that is an anti-zerg mechanic, just remember the AC fiasco and what that resulted in. Please, rethink this entire event, or, if you insist on keeping it, then cut down on the number of NPC monsters in the area.

I really look forward to playing this new map with my guild. We are going to have months of fun trying to figure out the best ways of doing things here, which will probably result in years of changing strategies. I really hope you take my post to heart as I want to be able to have fun on these maps for a few years while you guys develop the next stage of WvW. Thanks again.

Thank you for allowing me to participate in this latest round of beta testing.

The new map looks great! I love the variety of terrain. While a lot of people say that this map is huge, I find it rather the same. We just don’t know the fastest way to get from point A to B yet.

I love what you did with the towers. I see what you mean about them having strategic value. The fact that they block off routes and contain WPs makes them highly valuable.

I would strongly reconsider not having WPs in keeps. While the maps are not necessarily larger, it can take a long time getting from your home to the north, even if one has a tower WP. Considering all the nooks and crannies for siege at keeps, assaulting, and successfully taking a northern keep will take multiple attempts, as the first ones will most likely result in a wipes while trying to take out the defenders siege. Since the northern keep has a WP, it gives them a tremendous advantage over the attackers. They will be able to repair and build new siege long before the attackers have reformed and are back to continue the assault. Even if the enemy attacks with a full map, due to attrition of respawns and the time it takes the attacking force to get back compared to the defending force, the attacking force will loose every time.

I see this resulting in a few possibilites. People will get frustrated at having to run north over and over again, and not even bother assaulting the northern keep at all. The only way they would assault the northern keep is to do a coordinated push with the other team on the map, resulting in a forced double team due to the map layout. Now, perhaps that is what you had in mind: to give a fairer chance for the northern keep to defend against a 2v1. If that’s the case, kudos to you. However, it does mean it will be the only way to take the northern keep, which is a bad thing. Granted, this will be balanced in the sense that each map will have the same dilemma. The other result is that it will encourage more off hours players to zerg, for the above reasons, as they may not have the support of the other server attacking due to population issues.

I love how each zone has a different look and feel. There’s lots of attention to detail, even at the sentries. I love their little backpacks hanging off a post and how you can get some first aid from them.

While I was staunchly against the auto-upgrade before coming to the stress test, I think I can understand why you did so: it gives us more time to fight and assault. That’s a good thing. There’ve been many times we’ve had to give up an assult and port back to defend camps. That seems a little silly for such a small objective. Also, it makes karma training a little slower because most structures will have some form of upgrade.

Yet, I’m still very much against this system. It really does make camps rather meaningless. That takes a large part of strategy out of the game. Why dumb this down? The strategy is a huge, fun aspect of WvW. There was never anything wrong with having upgrades being directly correlated to actual supply. Also, regarding the K-train aspect, it will only slow it down a little. If a structure is at it’s 2nd level wall, big deal, so it will take a few more cata or ram hits. The lord will still die fast. It also lessens the impact of roamers. Because there will be less roamers and small groups defending camps, they will be with the commander, meaning larger zergs, something I know you are trying to combat.

There’s a ton more reasons against the auto upgrade system that I, and many others have written about. Just look them up. After playing the map, my thoughts have not changed.

Well, don’t worry. There are a bunch of people currently trying to manipulate the system so that YB comes to T1. Unfortunately, they are really just trying to spice things up for themselves by doing something new and different under this altruistic guise. What will end up happening is they will get YB up to T1, and one server will drop to T2. Due to the glico system, the new T1 and T2 servers will stay that way.

Now, the only way this doesn’t happen is if these people transfer again to another T2 server once YB comes to T1. They will have to perpetually do this again and again in order to keep cycling fresh servers into T1. This is due to the way the glico system will treat the new 4th place server. It severely punishes the new 4th place server if they don’t win by a large margin, and greatly rewards the new 3rd place server, even if they loose. This immediately creates a large gap between the the tiers.

But I don’t think that will happen. I think these new transferrs will just stay on YB and enjoy fighting against their old server mates and be happy that one of the T1 servers, either BG or TC, will fall.

The funny thing is, one of the reasons these transfers give to going to YB is for something new. But if their plan succeeds, they will be back in the same tier fighting many of the same people as before (many of these people play regularly on both BG and TC).

Unfortunately, glico is very hard to manipulate.

OK, so I tested this out. I don’t understand the description at all now. I was able to reapply many blinds, and while doing so, apply confusion each time. It is, indeed, referring to being able to blind on block or evasion limited to 10 seconds, NOT the apply confusion with blind.

According to the description, I can only apply one stack of confusion with blind to a person once every 10 seconds in addition to blocking or evading an attack inflicts blind.

This used to be a good trait before the big patch. However, as it is limited to applying its effect to once every 10 seconds, this has no teeth. How does such an ineffective trait get up to the grandmaster level? Looking at the other traits here, there’s really only one to choose from unless one is wielding a scepter.

Please, remove the application limit or just come up with something new. I thought you guys spent a lot of time learning from things over the last 3 years. While this definitely seems the case with the consolidation of things, I feel like you didn’t have too much of a choice other than consolidate traits, as the new system limits our choices from the get go. Putting a trait like this in the line up doesn’t prove that at all. Combine this with the buggy or ineffective ways other things are turning out, this just seems like things are being rushed out the door.

My pessimism tells me this won’t be addressed, or if it is, it won’t be addressed for a very long time considering how much other stuff is happening with the game right now and how some things have lapsed into acceptance, like in my signature. But it’s my duty as a caring gamer to point out this useless trait.

The benefits of super speed are with veil and portal. However, with portal, it’s borked.
