Well the ammounts of exo and asc drops is so high in BW2 and BW3 (I wasn’t in BW1) that it is so obvious that this is intended. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth xD

Can only repeat myself… I have absolutely no incentive to use DH or bow in any situation that comes to my mind.

In sPvP there are more reliable builds that do more dmg and there are other builds that offer more survivability and support. I won’t even start on Traps and pvp.

In PvE (where I have the least experience) I don’t see this low bow dps see use. This is the only mode where traps would make sense because mobs are stupid and still I don’t see the ammount of damage it would need to convince me droppen other stuff. Greatsword beats bow in damage and fun any time of the day.

In WvW there might be comps that could use a DH if you build around it… probably.. but I see no reason to change the tanky frontline stability-provider with GS and staff.

So for me I have 3 game modes and non need a DH. The more I play DH the more I want to change my main to something fun like necro. I have 5 lvl 80 chars and I already startet map-completion on my other chars because I don’t see me having fun as a DH and I think I would somehow feel a bit salty playing regular guard in the jungle while watching other elite specs running around.

I tried the DH now (after I refused to last beta) and I just have one question:

“In which game-mode should I use DH over something else?”

- PvP: 3 skills of bow are ground targetet, 2 skills immobalize you, even with berserker gear the dmg is meh; if we ignore damage and look at support it is meh too. Traits I see no synergy that is better than having one of the old traitlines.

- WvW: Looking at damage and/or support I don’t see any reason to switch from support/tanky frontliner to a dragon-hunter. I don’t do as much damage as any other backliner and I don’t bring more support than I would do otherwise.

- PvE: I don’t have much insight in the speedclear, high-end-dungeon farming but I see nothing that a DH brings to the party.

Soo.. in the end even IF I would like to play a dragonhunter (which I don’t because bow and traps are not good), there would be no need for me in any game mode.

PS: If I’m horribly wrong somewhere please correct me. It is actualy a serious question.. “where would a DH be prefered over a regular guard”

Yeah it is very illogical and noob to expect a ranger to generally be a guy with bow and pet that shoots you from afar. Let’s look at the first sentence how Arenanet decribes the Ranger:

“Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.”

THIS is why I am confident that a majority of ranger players started the class with the intent to be a ranged dd. That is all I said and now I still have to go on arguing with you although it is not really that important for the topic ^^

How many rangers started the game thinking “I will be a melee dagger ranger”.

Any player that did basic research before buying the game, any player that has played a reasonable number of MMOs and therefore has experienced classes, mechanics, etc vary, anyone who managed to watch the Lord Of The Rings movies without falling off their chair at the sight of Aragorn using melee weapons for most of the movie, basically non-noobs.

Well I actually tried to argue reasonably with you, but you just seem to try discrediting me so I will stop after this post. Just wanted to point out that this paragraph is a perfect example of what you tried to accuse me of and calling all rangers that wanted to play ranged-dd noobs… nice choice.

Try speaking for yourself and not others, ranger isn’t a “pew pew ranged class”, you seem to be confusing this MMO with certain others, which is why ranger has GS, sword, dagger, etc, not just bows, classes can be played multiple ways in this game, that you haven’t worked that out yet, is well…

Let me phrase it differently. How many rangers started the game thinking “I will be a melee dagger ranger”. The ranger is basically a ranged damage dealer with a pet by his side. Of course there are other ways of playing it, because thats how GW2 works.

In my opinion only rangers and guards get an elite spec that dramatically changes their way of playing. All other elites have new mechanic that augment current playstile, not change it and I think that is the reason for a lot of grief. (I’m not a huge fan of every class doing everything)

As for the spec, it is excellent, last thing I wanted on ranger was more ranged DPS we already have plenty of that, what ranger was missing was some form of strong group support, druid gives very strong healing & strong CC, it is one of the best specialisations they’ve announced.

Well how did you say so nicely: That’s only your opinion. I know quite some rangers that are not fond of playing a healer and that is why I phrased my previous post how I did it. I only shouldn’t have said “most rangers”.. that’s right.

And no it wasn’t guards “shinies”, guards already have huge amounts of support, why would you give guards yet more, specialisations are supposed to open up new playstyles, Druid does exactly that.

I called it guards shinies because, like already mentioned multiple times here, when the tomes were removed from the guard the dev’s asked the community for ideas to replace them with. The guard community came up with basically the celestial form the ranger now gets, isn’t it understandable that some guards now are irritated? And like mentioned before I think all other elite specs are augmenting current playstyles, not being completely new ones.

MM is STILL a joke

So get a group of friends together?

You’d think that MM would match solo queue against solo queue, not organized groups vs. randoms. That should be a basic part of whatever algorithm they use.

And if they take that into account too, at this moment, people will complain about the loooong queue time.

Can only repeat myself time and time again. MM isn’t perfect at this moment, but it isn’t completely broken either. With HoT we will get the new leagues-system which will completely change the MM so it really makes no sense complaining 4 weeks before the change.

Disconnects, Rubberbanding, Lagspikes

I came back to GW2 1-2 months ago and had a really nice gaming experience with my new pc. Since 1-2 weeks now I experience lags and disconnects dayly and it reached to point now that I want help/answers.

First of all the hardware:

- Intel Core i7-4790 3,60GHz
- 16 GB RAM
- GeForce GTX 960

With this I normally play with 120 FPS on highst settings and 40 ping and I guess that is how it should be.

But now there are those issues…

Mostly during worldbosses or in SW (but not solely during those) from one second to another rubberbanding starts and often lasts for a long time (sometimes 30sec), with small “windows of catching up”. Sometimes it goes back to normal after this but mostly I simply disconnect (which sucks so much during worldbosses, raids, wvw and so on).

Now most of you might think that my provider might just suck, so on to internet:

I’m from Austria and use a local provider that always was quite good. Recently during those issues I started looking for stuff connected to the internet other than GW2. On one hand I can go for pingtests (ookla) while I’m currently lagging in GW2 and I get 10 ping, 7mb/s download on local servers or can normally browse in firefox; on the other hand often TS3 or a twitch-stream crash/lagg alongside with GW2.

Now I don’t really know if I can solve this issue on my own or it is related to my provider or to GW2 or their third party services.

I would appreciate tipps, solutions!

In private Colin just confirmed a huge feature- and content-pack that hasn’t been talked about until today!

For all those clueless, but interested people I made a short list of things he promised today:

1) Toaster-Roaster-Event featuring Mr. Toaster attacking LA right after the next BW3

Once the community manage to survive Mr. Toaster’s Test several features will unlock…

2) People present during the event will get the new Toaster-finisher

3) You can buy Mr. Toaster Mini for 450 toasted bread (collectable during Toaster-Roaster-Event)

4) With the new expansion the crafting profession cooking will level up to 500 and we will get some new toaster-recipes

5) He mentioned some secret feature that will not be revealed for now

I hope you guys are as hyped as myself and hopefully we will make Mr. Toaster proud!

It’s not strong, anyone with the least of skill can just dodge out. This is strickly a PvE nerf done without regards to PvP or WvW. Killshot, Backstab and Shatter are strong because they almost insta-kill people. Ice bow was good to kill blobs of PvE creatures, that’s about it.

If the skill can just be dodged does it matter if it deals 50% or 100%? oô

its not worthless because it still has a freeze. believe it or not, 50% damage decrease its still optimal for damage… its just not RIDICULOUS now

What is ridiculous is getting shaterred for 25k from stealth, not an aoe skill you can just dodge out.

Mesmers are so lucky every clone shatters for 8,3k dmg and can’t be dodged.

That’s a completely viable burst.

It depends. If you are running at a pointholder and he sees you coming from afar I would not engage like that because you completely empty your gun in the first 4sec (and he is expecting that) and after you hit like a wet noodle for some time, missing the gapcloser/stunbreak.

If, on the other hand, someone is setting a target for me in clocktower and I can “jump their bones” without being expected then this rotation withe the following ring of fire right on the cap-point is viable, yes.

I just don’t wanted to get flamed for beeing a noob that smashes all his cd’s right at the start of the fight. Now I got flamed for holding on to them cry xD

It somehow feels like they had a completely different idea for druid, for some reason had to completely overhaul that and that is why druid is the last spec although they did all other specs in the right order.

On the other hand they had a (half) finished new concept for the guard tomes.

Because of the release date and community pressure they just took the tome-spec and made it the druid elite.

Ahh, poor guards, only one viable spec in WvW, for a class that has been both a requirement and the most numerous for 3 years, I am sure engies, rangers, mesmer, etc are crying tears for you.

How about PvP, well lets see, for nearly two years every single team had a bunker guard, and since then decent representation with medi, then more bunker and condi build, again I am sure those who play classes who have spent huge periods of time as poorly represented like ranger, necro, mesmer, etc are shedding tears for your perceived plight.

What next, elementalists moaning?

You got it all wrong. Noone complains that the ranger-masterrace gets a good spec. Ranger is neither masterrace nor is the spec any good (from most rangers perspectiv).

What makes a lot of guards mad is the specific stuff the ranger got that is literally what the guard thematically has/had and wanted. The celestial form is basically what guards wanted the new tome to be and now we watch another class get it (no matter how usefull it is to them)

Rangers are raging because they got a heal (and only heal) spec on a pew-pew-ranged-class and guards are raging because they see their shinies given to someone else.

It is cheese if you play it in lower tear and engage a fight with…

Judges Intervention – Zealot’s Flame – Zealot’s Fire – Ring of Fire around the enemy for good measure and a Virtue of Justice somewhere in between

This literaly happens in 4sec and is enough burn to kill most enemies. It is cheese if you pull this off and the enemy does nothing about it. If your enemy expects a burn-guard and cleanses/dodges some core abilities it is a normal viable build.

I would actually call for a slight burn-nerf but then what build should I play against the other over the top builds? So I only want a burn-nerf acompanied by other balance changes.

PS: I want to note that the ‘rotation’ I posted above is complete crap and shouldn’t be used by guards that have some dignity and skill.

I think this is something that is theoretically possible but practically not.

Anet did a good job making the huge zerg vs. zerg actually quite playable and unlaggy.. but imagine what will happen if in the background the game has to keep tabs on all the people that got healed/supported by other people.

You vail 20 people, 7 of them kill Y, 8 kill X, 4 kill Z, 2 people that killed X supported 1 guy that killed Z and so on and on.

All those cross-connections for supporting/healing allied players and getting loot based and what does players do after that.. would simply break the game I think.

Ice bow nerf is great though, 50% nerf is decent but i would have preferred more, or a rework so that its not so effective against large hitboxes. Should be enough to prevent 5 eles mandatory in raids.

Didn’t he not also mention something like “3 hits per target”? Or did I understand that wrong?

Edit: Read the dulfy post… Icebow is 3 targets per Hit. With the 50% dmg atleast it’s a lot less bursting boss mobs.

Introducing a balance patch together with the elite-specs, that aren’t and can’t be balanced right now? Sounds not really promising.

I would like a big balance patch 1 month after HoT, that would be a good date I guess.

all 8 elite-specs shown so far are obviously hard-countered by d/d ele and cant do anything that ele doesnt do a lot better already. so yes, its very promising. Plus there are many weak things on classes that can be buffed now without worrying about elite specs. Rebalancing current stuff along with introducing new stuff sounds better then just introducing elite specs without work on core issues.

Besides once the HoT work is done, balance patches will be regular so any potential problems with elite specs can be dealt with.

Though when you read the announcement it doesnt actually say if the balance pass will be released at the same time as HoT. Or if those are just planned changes they will start working on once all HoT development is done. Would be nice to get a confirmation of that on the show. Im a optimist so im sticking with launch (i dont dare even hope it might be before)

Of course it would be better balancing now with HoT (fixing current imbalance) and later adjusting the new elite specs to fit into everything else. I just have the bad feeling we won’t see balance patches in more rapid succession, so I would prefer a patch that includes the new stuff in it’s equasion.

I would really like more frequent changes so that specific builds come and go (atleast when you want to current top build). It would keep things interesting in my opinion.

Like I stated before it is absolutely hilarious what changes are asked here of the dev’s. You play a specific aspect of one (of three) specific game modes and encounter a build that is over the top. Now all those poor soles flock into this thread and ask for “condi nerf” “equip nerfs” “stealth nerfs” “stealth disable” etc.

I have not read a single constructive suggestion concerning WvW-Roaming and how to balance this specific aspect (without breaking pve or pvp). Most of the changes demanded here would simple break multiple builds or condi alltogether.

It’s like asking for warrior-mobility-nerfs because he beats me in a race from one side of LA to the other.

PS: I wonder what a PvE player that really would like to play condi in PvE, but isn’t allowed because of zerk-meta, would say to this thread ^^ “Yeah betta nerf condi because it’s already not played in meta-pve.. so nothing would change there”

Enemy Owned Camps will spawn Yaks that Down-Grade objectives.

How should this work? Especially when you think about invulnerable dolys.

my solo camp capping has little impact to WvW…

Doing something impactful on your own in a WvW-setting is and should be hard/impossible to do, rightfully so. I think/hope the new HoT-Maps favor smallscale, guild-based play, meaning lot’s of 5-10(or 20) player groups and not 1 big zerg and some random solo roamers.

The new map is just so big that one zerg alone can’t possible handle the whole map and solo players shouldn’t really be able to capture/upgrade stuff… therefore smaller groups.

Unranked maps foster bad players

It’s quite useless to discuss this now when leagues come with HoT. So new players start at the first league and get stuck after a certain point if they are bad. As experienced player you “endure” the first leagues and then meet up with equally skilled players in later leagues.

In theory this should solve all the problems. Hopefully they make the mm (regarding the class, team-size) better and implement a solo-q as well.

and you know when something becomes uber-strong when the vast majority of people in WvW use it while roaming or in a group.

You know something really needs a buff if nearly noone runs a certain build in zerg vs zerg in WvW. Notice something? ^^ Better nerf well-nekros because they are often used in blobs.

I wouldn’t mind if Anet adjust stealth and condi spikes a bit, but then they need to adjust survivability outside of stealth as well.

It’s rediculous how people call out on class, with one build, one gearset and all buffs in a specific side-aspect of one gamemode and then call for “mesmers should have no stealth at all”….

.. yeah gg. Mesmer without stealth would be like fighting a ranger pet. Slap a target over their head and burst them down.

What I don’t like is that you are calling for nerfs that will affect PvE and PvP, but don’t consider some facts that make the condi so strong in roaming. Namely full ascended gear and all the possible buffs (most important +40% condi duration). When the dmg is so much higher than in pvp it’s clear that longer durations of stealth are ‘op’.

Yes what you posted is defenitely OP and scepter 2 is a strong spell, never mentioned otherwise (but still you don’t spam it and deal 12k every 6 sec like some might think).

Like I said before reading your post. Lot’s of people here call for nerfs that will affect pvp and in pvp the mesmer isn’t broken, he is in most builds a typical +1er and quite balanced.

But you yourself must know that dire set and this rediculous buff-food make a huge difference. In pvp you can dodge scepter 3 and cleanse scepter 2.. then what?

In a lot of cases I would still call it missing knowledge if someone gets steamrolled and in your case loosing to such a build I call it a misbalance because of the WvW-roaming setting (anywhere else in WvW this build isn’t op I guess).

I’m actually less concerned with the dps and more annoyed at the fact that they’re so hard to kill.

Are they harder to kill than an ele who decides to leave, harder than a thief that stealthes away, harder than GS Warri that starts to charge an whirle away from the scene?

Most Mesmers have one blink and no switfness (only from PU rng proc). Mesmer is hard to catch, but in my ranking there are harder classes to catch and Mesmer has a hard time finishing those himself.

No stealth class applys 8 stacks of burning as far as I know.
Condi builds do a LOT less damage than physical zerk attacks. The difference is, that you can’t dodge condies once they are applied.

The fact, that we are currently in a condi-favorable-meta and people still don’t know what to look out for most of times…. results in such threads.

I somehow get the feeling that lot’s of people here are zerk classes that attack the mesmer scepter 2, get 5 tormet and instead of cleansing start to run around.

PS: If any condi-tick would end stealth… then stealth is broken.

Most people of AM just deal with it. We know we are outnumbered and outplayed, as one can expect from 4th place.

Lot’s of AM players will stay away from WvW this week an FSP will hate this week too because there will mostly be nothing to do except defend all the t3 stuff.

Just because one posted the pic doesn’t mean we are all complaining. Why shouldn’t FSP do it if they can? Only shows they are alreay bored and that sucks for them and us.

I lost 60 blooms for the dayly and 4×10 blooms for events… quite curious if I’ll get 100 blooms or not.

But even if I get them all I’m already so sick of this event, that I’ll do each map only once a day and even that is actually too much because this event is not worth to be played.

It would be soooo easy to make the rewards appropriate. It took me basically 1min to come up with this:

1-15 total events completed:
Players get 1 bloom per buff-stack

16-30 total events completed:
Players get 2 blooms per buff-stack

31-50 total events completed:
Players get 3 blooms per buff-stack

>51 total events completed:
Players get 4 blooms per buff-stack

Numbers could be tweaked but I would say this would be a lot better than what we currently have. It takes into account the personal performance and the performance of all players on the map.

Now I’ll go to bed and hope something changed when I’m up again gn8

4 days for daylies per map = 4×3×20 = 240 blooms
That means you need to get another 210 blooms through grind
Let’s say we play normally and not tag&run… that means we will always get 10-19 stacks which equal 10 blooms. In 4 hours (1 rotation + break) you therefor get 30 blooms.

To get the halo-potion you need EVERY DAYLY REWARD + 28 HOURS GRIND if you play casually.

Events not being rewarding:

If we take the point above into account we have a 28 hour grind without getting ANY gold, xp, karma, loot, fun. Furthermore you have constant waypoint costs and if you die you can repair your equip too. This means you are basically farmig all the time while loosing money and later even pay 10g more to get ONE item. Must be even more fun for new players.

Bugs:

There still seem to be bugs. People aren’t getting rewards after a disconnect. You loose all stacks afer disconnecting.

I regularly notice catapult-hits or bombs hitting the mark but not doing dmg. With bombs it is mostly when you are on higher terrain.

My 2 cent:

The event is as it is now.. there is nothing to change on short notice. But the fact that it is absolutely unrewarding and straight up BORING to grind for hours and hours, losing money and time, to get a ‘simple’ skin.

The easiest way to make it more rewarding would be to increase the blooms earned. You might add loot to give people immediate reward while grinding, but the blooms would be the core thing. I would really like to be able to get several items if I’m willing to 24/7 (with sleep) this 3 events over and over again.

I’m noone that is fast to flame the game.. but this event just hurts.

When I saw the vendor I thought “Cool, I didn’t play while this items were available, so hopefully if I grind enough this weekend I can get them all. I have lots of time. It might work”

Now that I know the events… 3 different events… in 3 maps with 30min RUSHING through the map to reach 20 stacks I feel already exhausted.

I don’t mind a bit of grind, but this whole concept sucks. People that only tag get more rewards, getting all items is absolutely impossible, the huge gaps between events make a constant grind even longer…

I’m just sad…. and exhausted.

PS: Without the map-dayly you get 45 blooms in 4h… that is 40h for one item. No thanks.

Update on my experiences:

Since it should now scale I did 19 stacks. I got no reward and WHATS MORE IMPORTANT I got only bronze for 19 stacks?

This is so kittened up in the way it workes an counts. Also making tagging and leaving the most effective way is a bad choice too.

No xp/loot, the bug where thrown bombs don’t do dmg even if you hit, the bugfixes that change nothing so far, the disconnect problem….

I did now ~70 buff stacks all together and I’m proud owner of 5 blooms.

In the event after the fix I got 5 stacks (mostly afk because first 3 events I got nothing) and I got 5 blooms, no scaling.

Also this mentioned dayly map reward didn’t happen either.

Like a lot of people already said. People need to know how many blooms for what.

Dayly map reward and scaling still not working. 10min after you postet in the dev-ticker i only got 5 blooms (luckily… first reward in 4 events)

And it would be really nice to know what would be the right reward. So everyone knows if the event is worth the time.

My feedback for this BW (my first):

1) Map:

I did not enjoy the map. It is a mace that feels clunky to move around in. It is often hard to know where you should/could glide and you basically just run in circles doing the same defend-events over and over again.

2) Enemies:

I find there to be two extremes. Either you are alone/in a small group and events scale too high and you basically get stomped. Once we were 2vs20 bronze to gold mobs with lots of aoe, no chance. On the other hand you run in zergs, you basically just dps mobs. But even in zergs you get one-shot, not because it is too hard but because some attacks simply oneshot and because of all the flashy moves all the specialisations have you hardly see what the mob does with his hands.

3) Classes. There I’m quite happy. They seem interesting and look cool. The balance will take time to figure out.

So after this night i fear that PvE will be quite a burden to grind through, but PvP looks interesting.

Not this guy again…

Always this guy! xD I like beeing ‘that guy’.

I wasn’t bragging.. I was admitting we eventually stood there. Just happend because we were fighting near bay.. when there were 20+ pushing our direction we retreated inside the camp.. fighting there for 15 min and eventuelly getting pushed further because we were infight the whole time and respawn kept comming.. we eventuelly lost the camp and had to fight further south and when you need to recover there you finally stand inside the invulnerability-zone.

We just regged and nearly wiped the whole group again but the second time we got pushed there that point was surrounded by 30 people spamming aoe and building ballista. We had really much fun and wondered why they didn’t just leave so we could port back and start over again ^^ Still I doubt you see DP there quite often because it was the first time we trolled with that point.

When you ask why we need the point.. i could ask back why it needs 30 to kill 7. ^^ Just kittens and giggles.

Kribre.. you at least hit like 30 and because of the culling I assumed it that way.. you can never be sure.. especially with my hardware xD So… UNTY.. we will sure face each other a few times this week, although we will fokus on hunting ARMY xD

It’s nice seeing that the UNTY zerg is really coordinated and moving well, would be great facing you in a gvg again. Was fun wiping the pugs again and again until UNTY had to help them twice (against 7 of us). After the second time UNTY might have left their BL and we trolled the uncoordinated zerg again. I admit we once wanted to see how they react to the save zone.. standing there for minutes hitting at us oô Was really much fun and my kill counter exploded again ^^

We don’t really care.. AG was afraid of JS-BL for most of the week and the nightcapping finally settled your 2nd place tonight. But we aren’t mad.. we get a really nice german-match next week were we will face equal numbers.

Wish AG good luck with Dzagonur.. they got a lot new transfers and winning-team joiners.. AM and AG will meet each other again and without JS we will maybe once get some kind of even game and we will see who will win xD

The 60+ AG zerg at bay on their BL wasn’t nice too. We are atm jumping servers with <30 people and whenever we attack anywhere withing 60 seconds we got a 40+ zerg at our location.

JS is really good at reacting atm.. It was fun while we were 30-40 guildies but now.. now it is absolutely not playable. But it’s a good experiance though.
