Sorry but this is no balance suggestion.. it is a list of skills you have problems with and want to get nerfed and skills you would like to have buffed.

You completely neglected all traits, introduced 2 new AoE pusling blinds, gutted the whole new set of DH utilities and ignored some really strong skills of diverent classes in favor of the skills you want changed.

Beside the fact that A-net always ignores such threads it seems to be quite a selfish one, at least to me.

Just curious, doesn’t Mesmer eat DH trapper for breakfast? I am no expert, but I would think Chronomancer, with a resistance build, would blow up DH. Right?

As do Heralds and Scrappers (and some Reapers and Druids). D/D eles might too? Thiefs and Warris won’t.

PvP should by this point be bigger than it ever was. Beside that there are 3 important points:

1) Noone that wants to play serious 5vs5 games joins any of those numbered Servers in hotjoin. Those will only make you sad. Use unranked arena instead (no matter what your skill lvl is)

2) What you currently have is people everywhere running around like beheaded chickens trying to scram Halloween, PvE-Story, Masteryfarm, WvW and PvP into 1,5 weeks.. so it might feel dead at times? don’t know.. I’m one of those chickens.

3) PvP might also feel weard because we just had the expansion and balance isn’t reached yet.

Yeah all guards also got tears in their eyes when they announced druid. Now that HoT is life rangers have the tears in their eyes too and lock eyes with the guards on the other side of a-net’s famous table…. everyone is ‘happy’ xD

PS: Renewed focus defenitely is needed. Like all those that state DH is so op say… DH is quite good in chaotic teamfights, which means that there is a possibility of 2-4 people focusing him. Even if he ‘1-shots’ one he will fall instantly after. No matter how good, a 16k DH will get downed when more people focus him and are equally good as him.

What constitutes a projectile?

Of all mesmer GS abilities only the (2) is a projectile, everything else is other stuff (the (1) is a beam hrhr).

The reason why you can’t block the (2) is because it is unblockable (because it causes a clone at the first target hit.. no hit would mean no clone)

It’s not a 1-shot but a 100→0 burst in a very short time. You can start Fokus (5), then place elite trap, judges intervention while placing the trap, then you place 1-2 further traps and with the explosion of Fokus (5) a squishy target that didn’t react will be downed.

People who get regularly hit by LB (5) also stand in nekro wells and ranger LB (5).
When I stack 3 wells on a point and people stand in there they melt faster than with DH traps.

Yes I’m aware that traps stay, but by now people should come to know what to expect. If I know that on this point there are 3 traps stacked I can proceed accordingly.

I would say that LB (2) is stronger than any of the traps so this is where a nerf might happen, but all those flames about stacked traps really makes me cringe.

Why do other classes keep coming in here asking how to defeat us? why not ask that in your own forum? and why do you guys keep giving them advice on how to defeat you? honestly it makes no sense….

Because if we don’t they won’t discover it themselves, keep flaming and DH will get nerfed because of the 10 threads that pop up every day stating the same stuff “they place 4 or 5 traps instantly and when I run in I instantly 100→0, pls nerf”

You guys are seriously complaining about Guards that run FOUR/FIVE traps? They place them ALL under them and then wait for you to jump in and you think that is OP gameplay?

Well if now everything other than his LB skills are on CD then just pop the traps with minions/illusions/pets and engage after that. Another method would be using LoS and range pressure him off the traps (he is standing on point, you can hide somewhere else with LoS). Marauder DH with no defensive utilities and bow in hand is squishy as kitten.

I would say use staff and LoS as best as you can. With unblockable marks you build up some lifeforce and you can do a bit of damage. When you have your lifeforce you can go into offensive. Do you have a well? With a well you could force him off his traps. If no well then use spectral armor, go into reaper shroud, start stability and charge towards him. When you reach him you can proc the fear and the reaper-shroud 5.

On the other hand if you play your nekro mostly close range, have 0 lf and face a 1on1 you will lose… don’t engage ^^ +1 another point or wait for help.
I personally played with d/wh + staff marauder well-nekro and I did okey against the DH I faced.

I did not expect you to look it up. I just felt the need to mention it because “we have obviously no idea of wvw because we don’t share your solo roamer expectations” ^^

Of course in roaming there should be a balance in the 1on1’s of all compositions but it will be hard to reach because of reasons I mentioned before.

Did you play condi-trapper-thief? If yes… that would have never worked in the normal pvp-balance.

if you want to play with gs as you used to play with dagger/warhorn pre hot, than youre right…., gs doesnt rly work, its weaker

gs offers a new, unique way of playstyle, wich is different from dagger/warhorn, but not worse…, learn it and get used to it

How does one get used to a weapon where the auto and gap closer never works?

I don’t see why dagger and gs can’t fulfill melee damage builds in different ways – dagger better single target damage and mobility/speed and GS less single target damage but better aoe damage and defense with chill applications.

I mean isn’t that what the GS was supposed to be? A cleave weapon that complements team play by debuffing and conditioning enemies with chill? It doesn’t do any of that.

It’s a PVP failure.

Tell its a pvp failure to crying enemies that whisper me that im broken and wtf is this , when i hit them for 10k . You obviously not have a clue . Gs is the best single and aoe dmg necro has . Learn to play . Ppl like u are the reason necro has “bad name”

GS in PvP is bad against equally skilled or better players. Just because you found enemies that let you stay sticky and wreck them with gravedigger doesn’t mean “we have no clue”.

Well [DP] is a WvW-guild but don’t mind me ^^
But no, WvW will never be balanced the same way as PvP as long as players use PvE-gear and buffs. On the other hand WvW generally would need another balance because the playstile if different. It is more medium- and large-scale group fighting and so movement, commitment and positioning is more important than a skill having 5sec more CD or not.

Yes rolling a new class should give you a lower MMR than your main has.
The problem is A-net like always gives no real answers and so there is always the question “is it really working” ^^

WvW balance was kittened up because of asc equip and all those buffs… it had nothing to do with the skill/trait-balance.

As long as WvW is a PvP-mode in a PvE-setting it will never have the balance PvP has. Thats a topic for a whole other discussion.. but OP wanted to talk about PvE vs. PvP.

Well my health-pool might be true.. so where I drop to 10-20% others will die, but such a ‘instant-burst’ didn’t happen a lot to me.

Another point I’m curious about… all those complains about elite-trap.
The few minutes I have thought about how to skill my future DH and what I have heard and seen of players I look up to… wouldn’t everyone in high-skill ranks use renewed focus instead?

I would only take the trap if I know I can regularly oneshot people that are as good or better as myself, else I would take the other elite and I somehow doubt the oneshots are the norm when you reach higher ranks.

Well… from my point of view “because it only matters in PvP anyway”

The normal PvE content is sooooo incredibly easy that it needs no balance anyway and the endcontent is balanced around what the classes are currently capable of. So what is wrong with balancing around PvP?

If we ignore HoT for now (and even there a-net already nerfed lots of PvE stuff), there was a well known streamer that did 1-80 permadeath without ANY gear and without dodging and heal for most of the time.

For PvE content that is harder people can switch gears, traits and use all those exploits that get discovered.

If the balance team increases the ICD of blinding ashes by 0.5s it makes a difference in PvP but in PvE? What kind of PvE changes do you have in mind? I would call the icebow nerf a PvE balance xD

All those flame threads while 99% of players still don’t know how to properly trait and play classes in this new meta.

Since HoT I have not had enough time for PvP to properly skill my chars on elite specs, so I was still running my marauder well-nekro (so not even real ‘meta’) and I faced every new elite spec. I felt more pressure from classes I normaly didn’t but NOTHING was unbeatable.

Against DHs I sometimes dropped low when I triggered traps, but if that is what you call OP.. I don’t know.

I see nothing wrong with the way it is.. even in the HoT maps. When it is needed and save most people rez. For me the biggest incentive to rez is that others will help me up when I’m downed. Being friendly and help each other, when you don’t have to go out of your way to do so, it should be the normal thing to do.

Once I see that it is not reasonable for others to rez me (dead at Golem Mark 2, Vinewrath or now Tarir Meta-Event) I waypoint… no need to scale up the events while lying around watching others fight.

There is a crate on Kyhlo that OP is complaining about.

I actually don’t know if it is still that way but it was not only the crates (there are more than one), but also the clocktower itself was ‘attackable’.

Currently nekro is my pvp-main and I still think it should be looked at, not because it is OP, but it is simply buggy and unfitting.

How does anyone know what mmr is what if it’s invisible to us. It’s not like dota2 where you can clearly see if you are above or under 4k mmr

Noone said that they know. But I face lot’s of dragon/phenix that know mostly what they are doing, so I expected higher mid. If you face ESL players you can expect to be at the top and if you face new/unexperienced players that basically still panic-push all buttons on CD then you might be low ^^

Burn Guard is REALLY good in low MMR games.
Like, REEEALLY good. There’s a reason why when you ask casuals PvPer, they complain a lot more about burning than in higher ranked games.
Lots of people playing dumb stuff that dies instantly to burn guard.

So it’s good up through the oRNG levels in EU. I’m curious what you consider high MMR.

With that logic every thief running Tokers build should completely stomp low mmr, but every thief complains ^^

In a setting where the players are still learning their own class and just get a feeling for rotating and teamplay burn-guard melts face. It’s the same with Mesmer.. people are just overstrained with keeping track of the real mesmer, looking at minimap, watching for tells and your own CDs.

In the ESL it is simply a counterpick to a certain player and not really the meta.

I would say that I play in ‘higher-mid-tier’, so better than average but not especially good, and you feel a real difference between enemies that know the burn-guard and ones that don’t. For example I wonder how many of those complaining about burn-guard know that minions or other players intercept zealot’s flame if you position correctly… so if the burn-guard doesn’t stand face-to-face you don’t even need to dodge his two biggest bursts.

Just smashing buttons give decent results on both, but to play them to their best potential both need a good understaning of all classes and map awareness (like everyone that wants to play their classes best potential).

I don’t think one is generally more difficult than the other. Maybe the support a bit because you not only focus on yourself and the enemy but you need to keep track of your team. Burn is more selfish and therefore easier in that aspect.

Because burn is for a lot of people more fun and another 95% think burn guard is OP… so yeah.

I’m currently playing burn too, because during the first year of GW2 a condi guard wasn’t possible and I played mostly bunker. But yes, support guards really make my life hard and in a good team, against much condi it is pure gold.

Sorry I read that wrong and for some reason was thinking Mai Trin. Anyway there had been a bug where it didn’t teleport you to the room with the large chest. That was resolved but maybe it’s back.

That was exactly it. No teleport and therefore no pop-up to proceed to the next fractal.

No we had no disconnects or chat problems. The fractal just didn’t progress after we finished the final boss.

It was really strange. We did nothing different than any other raid, we did ooze and the laser stuff (not fire).

I just mentioned our bug if there is something that stops progressing fractals that might not be connected to the UI, our UI seemed fine.

Also there shouldn’t be a cutscene at the end of that boss. All that happens is a short npc interaction but it doesn’t actually put you in a cutscene at all during that boss.

You do. You have the cutscene where the thaumanova reactor shakes and ‘explodes’, then you have the rubble on the ground after the boss is dead.

Yesterday we had a major bug in scarlets fractal. It was our 3rd (1st was underwater, 2nd was hammer). We finished our two trials and killed the boss. We saw the short cut-scene video and then… nothing.

We recieved no chest and we couldn’t proceed to the 4th fractal. After we tried 15min to somehow get past the bug we all left.. without loot and without the 4th fractal reward. Sucked quite a bit.

Excuse me..
How can you survive when you have 14 stacks of burning on you and no cd on cond removal?

That means you got hit by both Zealot’s flames and everything else the guard has to offer actively and passivly on burn.
I can also stand in front of a zerk warrior and let myself hit by 2×100 blades… I think I’m dead then too.

The only excuse to have 14 stacks is if you run over Purging flams multiple times to transfer back 14 stacks an watch him squirm.

Yes I know that in a normal game it is easier to hit zealots than 100-blades and that is why burnguard is so strong in lower tiers, but the better the enemy the harder it is to condi-burst them.

You dealt 622k dmg and already 35k Condi-damage as a Mediguard. On the other hand you only recieved 110k condi damage.. that is less than 3x the condi dmg you did and not even 1/5 of the whole damage you did.

So I don’t see what in your screen makes burn-guard look op? That he got 20 more points? That’s pointless.. ba-dum-tss ^^

Could be that he did all that to you know the other 4 people and took the 110k from one guy whenever he showed up.

That is why I mentioned that the burn dmg was not even 1/5 the dmg OP dealt. So statistically he dealt more physikal dmg to each opponent than the burn guard dealt condi-dmg to each opponent (assuming he didn’t do significantly less dmg to OP). Also he already dealt 1/3 of the condi dmg he recived even without going for condi dmg. If you look at all the numbers the burn guard was not OP, so I don’t understand OP’s picture.

No it is just something that happens in normal 5vs5 unranked arena games.
Just noticed that I either interupt myself or this spell just doesn’t trigger as smooth as any other spell on classes I play. It is weard to discribe and I haven’t tested it outside of heated fights.

In this thread I feel like I’m imagening things but a guildy actually said he feels so too.

I’ll test it HotM tomorrow. The last few days it felt like there is a ‘pre-cast’ or delay on the skill that.. well.. makes me sometimes skip/ignore the heal and use the next spell I intended to use after it.

Edit: For more information.. I gernerally have 30-60 ping and enough fps ins sPvP so that shouldn’t be a cause.

Left to grow grass consumes rock- think entangle. However, this buffs rock in teamplay vs lawnmower as it grants free stealth access.

1 rock + 4 grass ESL god comp.

Wouldn’t a mobile +1-rock, a bunker lawnmower, signet tsunami and two cele grasses be better?

That would be the ridiculous 1.25 second cast-time.

That is another topic but not what I mean.. it’s like it also takes ages until the 1.25cast even starts.

Like I said I often press the heal and then notice nothing happened, I used the next spell in rotation and heal is NOT on cd.. so it didn’t get interrupted.

I think there is a difference if something is OP or if something is currently strong and will change with the next meta-patches. I think burn is currently strong and I also see it getting nerfed next.. but I absolutely don’t see it as OP.

Even if my signature stated Guard I play more classes and don’t care if I face a burn guard. I know how to play it so I know what to expect.. if he is better he wins, if not I win.

Being a player with ~2600 matches under my belt, and whom plays all of the classes and various builds on each class… I’m gonna go ahead and say holy flying kitten is burnguard OP even when fighting as a medi-guard with every condi-cleanse under the sun on ur bar, you have a hard time dealing with burn guards even 1 v 1

You dealt 622k dmg and already 35k Condi-damage as a Mediguard. On the other hand you only recieved 110k condi damage.. that is less than 3x the condi dmg you did and not even 1/5 of the whole damage you did.

So I don’t see what in your screen makes burn-guard look op? That he got 20 more points? That’s pointless.. ba-dum-tss ^^

Is anyone else having trouble with this heal? It feels like it has some kind of ‘pre-cast’ which makes me either interrupt (not with dodgerolls) it or simply ignore it and cast the next spell I use. In heated fights I often go for the heal.. and then 2sec later see that nothing happened and it’s not even on CD.

I only feel it with this skill, so I hope it’s no l2p issue. Was just wondering if others feel the same and if there is a way ‘around’ it.

For sole 1vs1’s you can use private sPvP-Servers or later Guild-Arenas. Unranked/Ranked PvP is a teamgame so why should 1vs1 be a very important part?

That the whole game discorages zerging was already mentioned.

I think it is too random and far off. Anet does not even have a split for solo and premade teams, so I doubt something like that would be done until 2020 and even then it might suck.

Anet might adjust the condi-dmg a bit.. nearing burn and bleed towards each other. Beside that people need to accept that meta shifts with each patch and so new strong builds emerge and counters to them get viable. A later patch will change it again (because Anet stomps something again) ^^

I think it’s a deal with it situation. Nothing is really broken and just because a number of players don’t want to play/can’t deal with something doesn’t mean there needs to be a general nerf.

Second time I have to clarify what I already posted. I don’t mean that burn is a problem for TOP TEAM PVP… Mainly because they have conditions cleanse covered with their composition.

I have 800 games and play mostly solo. I don’t see burn as a real problem. It’s just currently good.

What I see as problem is that people want to play their favorite class with their favorite build and expect it to always work. If people would look at the teams and the map and maybe switch a utility accordingly there would be much less QQ. I often switch my char or a utility depending on what team I or the enemy has.

Experience from today:

When I play with the classes I have most games on I regularly get people that are obviously completely new to pvp. I don’t get why I get paired with lvl 2 new players when I have 800 games (not that much I know).

On the other hand when I play my 3 game with ingi, just strted him, I have premade enemy teams with phenix or dragon rank.

I’m just confused if the MM is currently active or not.
I don’t have a problem with my win rate.. that is ~60% although I play mostly solo. I just don’t get the different people that often get paired together.

Well the ammounts of exo and asc drops is so high in BW2 and BW3 (I wasn’t in BW1) that it is so obvious that this is intended. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth xD
