And yes, the thread title isn’t very appropriate. It’s also more of a HoT discussion for obvious reasons.

The thread title was written in a state where I was not as calm as I normally am. Regarles it exactly describes what I repeatedly felt when they promised something or released something and later players just look at it, shake their head and ask ‘why?’. Mordrem invasion was a special highlight of that fact. It took me 5min to come up with a better reward-system that took map progress and player progress into account; never mind.. i start ranting again^^

I couldn’t acutally care less if EZ and Abjured are place 1-2 or 1-50. Makes no difference for 99,9% of the players. It just shows one of many design flaws that made it through testing for jet another highly advertised and hyped feature.

I’m currently wondering if it is even possible to reach Legendary. When all people are in amber, emerald and probably saphire.. will they even find matches and won’t they always loose more than 1 pip?

Just get a long winstreak and you face people a lot stronger to “force a lose”. Why shouldn’t it work the other way around? Losing 10 games so MMR tries to force a win.

I still don’t get my head around so many things getting released with so many obvious flaws. The playtesting and thinking about “how can this work/be abused” was lacking basically in anything released this year (from Mordrem Event over auto-upgrade-wvw to pvp-leagues).

But whenevery the community asks for the future and if they should test/give feedback it is always “we can’t tell now, we are working on something great and you will love it”

How Do You Gain Pips From a Loss????

The comment still makes no sense..

This party-wide penalty is to prevent someone from intentionally disconnecting and preventing a loss for their friends. However it doesn’t make sense if you win, so we are looking into making this only affect losses.

Why should my teammate intentionally disconnect to help the enemy team and in which situations did that happen?

It also happened to Chaithh I think.. he ‘luckily’ only lost one pip for a win.

Chaithh also thinks the leagues are not good and that they are completely unfriendly towads solo-players or small teams.
He said that they (Abjured) keep farming pugs because they don’t get placed against other teams.

He also lost 1 pip for winning 4vs5.

I don’t get what your saying at all ayrilana.

The awards in WvW have been account based for a long time now.

It doesn’t make sense to encourage players to fill a bar up 95% and then let them switch characters for the final 5% just so they can get that soulbound item on that character. They did 95% of the work on another character!

These items need to be account bound. My guild mates that roamed in wvw abhor this change.

Why should you be able to progress a character without even playing it?

I can instantly level a toon to 80 with books from PvP, I can instantly equip him with legendary or ascended items with the gold and materials I made on another character. I can get his crafting to max in under an hour and all his skills except the elite spec.

Now please tell me again how much it would hurt all the PvE players if WvW players could skill their toons easier than other gamemodes.

Previously the chests were acct bound, but the proofs were soulbound. However, you could earn proofs (open the chests) on multiple characters and redeem on a character that didn’t earn(open) them. Example: char a earns 4 proofs – char b earns 8 proofs – char c could buy a 10 pt scroll even though no 1 character earned 10 proofs. Note your bank would of course have 2 mini stacks of proofs….

Has this changed as well? (Can’t test until tomorrow myself)

They fixed this ‘exploit’ too, as mentioned in the patchnotes. There is now absolutely no way to transfer any chest or items from it to another character.

Seems like a good thing to me. Maybe they’ll take the time to fix the reward structure of WvW.

Pointless to play on 80’s, all that XP wasted, besides heroics for alts. I’m not too keen on bringing in sub par underleveled characters either.

Fewer people playing WvW the better, the more likely something will be done to fix it.

I have been ignoring WvW despite a desire to play that over structured PvP ever since I came back to the game, now you can ignore it with me!

Ah I’m fine. Since I came back to the game WvW is my least favorite gametype and that although I’m in a WvW-guild and did it 90% of the time when GW2 started.
This particular thing just earned itself a thread because there is tons of stuff that desperately needs fixing and the only thing they fix (besides waypoints with a lot of people will also ‘enjoy’) is the one thing people wanted to stay buggy.

So to sum this thread up Anet decided to take a recently nerfed account wide progression system that is completely pointless after a little over 1k ranks and decided to tie the “rewards” to individual characters? #slowclap…

This.

So much about those rewards, the account-ranks and also the honor badges is completely useless to players that spent more than 5min in WvW.
With HoT there came ONE… ONE thing that was nice and usefull to players that spent hours of hours in WvW and that was the ability to fully skill a new character with your earned (but otherwise useless) rewards.

Now this is gone… and PvE-players come here and say “rightfully so, now it is like in PvE”. Yeah.. great.. and were is my loot, my collection items, my gold and the stuff I have in PvE? I think WvW should get as much…

Well.. nevermind. This was just the point that made me complain on the forums and another thing that disappointed me since HoT (like so many other things that were promised). The only real good thing were raids and they cater only to a minority.

Work around: Stuff the Proofs of Heroics in your bank. Even though they are soulbound, they will still show up as currency when interacting with the vendor on another character.

Enjoy it while it lasts, cause certainly its gonna be “fixed out” now.

No they fixed that… that is also in the patchnotes if you read carefully. I have currently (only) 120 proof of heroics in my bank bound to my main.

earn them on the character you want… nobody’s forcing you to grind your main to get stuff for other chars, I find that boring personally, play all my chars individually, no sharing of anything.

Right, the chests were account bound and you got the proofs out of them. So you could move the chest to another character then open it. Then the proofs would be soul bound to the new character that just opened it.

Those chests and the proofs of heroics are our compensation for the missing loot and gold and all the progress for achievements/collections/.. we are missing in WvW. It was our way to easily get the elite specs because it is a PvP-mode… sPvP gives them to you for free, so please don’t use the comparison between WvW and PvE as an argument here ^^

And yeah “just level them on the char you like”… actually not all chars have to gear and the traits (because they don’t have them jet) to compete in WvW. It is like joining underleveled and that is frowned upon.

@Gator: No the chests were accountbound, the proofs were always souldbound. Because of that it was needed to transfer the chests to the characters where you needed them, because they were not stackable it used lots of space.. THAT IS why people wanted to stack them. Now we can stack them but there is no need to anymore.

I still don’t see the benefit or the need to make the chests AND the proof of heroics souldbound… why? What does it matter with which char I buy siege, because that is the only thing they are good for.. except skilling toons.. and that is now gone.

So is Anet basically saying that we should drag underskilled (because they made all elite specs more OP than core builds) into WvW because… anything..?

It absolutely makes no sense and that makes me equally sad as the missing balance in the balance-patch.

Can you explain to me what is currently overpowered at the moment? I have not seen any classes that should be nerfed.

Uhm nearly everything? The powercreep is real and too much.
Do you really want to say that with HoT (with all those last minute buffs to classes after BWE3 that were not player-tested) the dev’s got the balance on every class just right?

Just because all the classes are so powerful that it looks like it is nearly balanced right now doesn’t mean there should be no changes made to different skills/traits.

Was just reading the patchnotes and instantly had to confirm IGM.. and my thoughts “Why?”

With HoT came the item proof of heroics that was a small consolidation für WvW-players to be able to play the new elite specs without going for map-completion in the new maps.

It was a content of the chests of the mists, which was account-bound but not stackable.

After you finished skilling your main it was best to have the proof of heroics on your other chars. There was only one way to get that (and one buggy way): You keep all chests closed and give them to your toon, but because they were not stackable they completely filled bank and inventary space.

So people asked Anet to make them stackable (which would only be logic anyway) so they can transfer stacked chests to other toons.

Now a Anet “granted our wish” and made them stackable.. but wait… now we make them souldbound. Beside that we also fix the one bug that allowed us to skill other toons with the souldbound proof of heroics.

With things like this I just have to shake my head and ask “Why?”

Why “fix” something we wanted into something that makes our life harder while we still wait for our “PvE farmed buggy WvW-Auras” that did not even get a mention in the patchnotes?

- Now it doesn’t work anymore to put them in the bank and use it with another char
- Chests are now soulbound, so you only get proof of heroics for the char you WvW with
- Because the chars I WvW with are all fully skilled I have no use for them

Yeah and according to the patch all those proof of heroics in my bank now are not usable for my toon, only for my already full skilled main.

People were asking for the chests to stack because we needed to transfer them to other chars. Now they are stackable but you can’t use them on other chars anymore…. #logic

Since no one answered +((((( why no sigil of bursting in these builds? Just curious as to the reason

The 10% duration is basically a flat 10% dmg-increase for your conditions and the Sigil of earth gives you basically 3,5 permanent bleed stacks.

I guess no sigil of bursting because the two mentioned above are more DPS.

If you already are at 100% condi-duration or if you only use one or two conditions I guess bursting would be better than malice.

The most interesting part of those streams are the minutes before the actual game…

You have Jebro talk about the team-comp, their builds, some tactics and some offtopic stuff. It is quite interesting and might help some guys improve by watching.
But as soon as the game starts it is quite a mess to watch.

1) It is nearly impossible to follow the movement/position of all the players on the map
2) It is impossible to actually tell what the players are doing when you are not well experienced with all classes and even then it’s hard
3) If I get it right only one guy (Jebro for EU?) is moving the camera. He is no god and so even he will miss important stuff

PvP in GW2 is actually very fun to play and is quite good (generally speaking) but for a watching audience.. it will never be a good view.

For power Reaper, what are the recommended runes? Are runes of the Scholar the only way to go or are there decent alternatives? I somewhat dislike the idea of Scholar runes as they don’t really apply to me outside Raids all that much, so I’m looking for ideas.

Strengh (or Rage and Flame Legion) I see as alternatives.
Because you already have 100% crit you basically want runes that give power and ferocity and most of all a flat damage multiplier.. and that is scholar.

They use ranked and unranked arena. Those are seperate from the “Hotjoin”-list.
Hotjoin never was/is a good place for serious PvP. There you go to troll peeople, farm points on farm maps oder test a new build if you don’t dare to join unranked for it.

Even if you don’t intend to play competitive use unranked.. it’s better.

I can speak for myself and what I expected and why I’m a bit disappointed too:

I’m not a rich player. I had a huge break from GW2 but I’m back for good. When I heared there would be a non-rng way to craft a precurser I was very happy because I wouldn’t spend the money to buy one on the TP.

They said they would send us on a huge journey into tyria and we would slowly collect everything we need to get the precurser. So I expected to spend a lot of time in tyria roaming, killing champions, searching for hidden items, doing jumping puzzles and when I have them all I throw some things into the mystic toilet and then craft the items together.

What we got is that we waypoint around for one hour in the world, go to a specific place, pick something up and then the “epic journey” was done. Now I have to go to a crafting station and spend hundreds of gold to craft ascended stuff. Not what I wanted, not because it is not cheap but because it is nearly the same as farming for gold and buying the whole thing.

I wanted to work hard, hike around and spend quite some time, but then get the precurser for ‘cheap’. As it is now you could either just farm gold or farm the journey and crafting mats; it isn’t really a difference because you don’t really have a real story accompanying the journey, it is just another gold sink, like everything else they make.

It is quite frustrating just because there are a lot of guys with thousands of gold that everything nowadays is a goldsink.. even when they do events like the mordrem-stuff everything costs quite some gold beside the stuff you gather.. it’s the same with the journey now.

I also think they didn’t account for the increase in price for the ascended stuff they generated with HoT. So if I need the same ammount of money anyway and the story for the journey isn’t really entertaining… why would I craft and not simply buy on the TP?

Versus 5 stacks everys 10 seconds with 5 second duration.

This is flawed as the chance on earth is 60% and condition necro does not hit that frequently as in very little multihits, so you are far away from triggering earth every 2 seconds

Assuming we get constantly 3 stacks, with 2000 condi-dmg that would be 430dps.
If we get 3,5 stacks it is 500dps with 2000 condi-dmg.

Assuming 4 constant stacks is already too high I guess. It would mean you have 8 out of 10 seconds cooldown und you need to hit 4 crits within 2 seconds.

So 3,5 stacks with 500dps for 2000 condi-dmg seem reasonable, or?

If you could constantly stay in melee Geomancy would be quite a bit better if we add the RS-proccs. But for me having the freedom to possition with range makes Earth better.

The servers are seperate. As far is I understand we have a serverfarm in europe and one in the usa and it would bringt quite some issues to match them against each other; one of the first things being even more lag.

You mention that Vampiric aura gets on to 15 different allies. How does it work? The tooltip does not really imply it is possible to get it on more than 5 people/pets.

Does it pulse with a lower CD than the aura (9sec) lasts?

Another question:
With CRC you inflict self-weakness, with blood is power self-tormet. “Suffer!” transfers one condition. I guess it transfers the torment because it came last and you just deal with the weakness, which doesn’t to much for condis?

Is soulreaping for a power-build also weaker than blood if you have a second nekro with blook already in the raid?

You might have missed a game pop and when you didn’t accept you got dishonored. Because the queuetime only is a few minutes Anet doesn’t want you to take a leak or get some food/drink… but it is fine sitting hours in the mists and looking at the sky.

Those cele reapers are made so they fit well with the team. If you only solo-q you can still go marauder/carrion or something like that and you might fare better than with cele.

Cele is the team-supporty, still doing damage through attrition and not being squishy ammulet for coordinated 5-mann-teams. Pure damage or pure condi is still viable for most stages of the pvp-ladder.

Compared to pre-HoT Mesmer isn’t as strong in a 1on1 anymore. Anyone else feels the same?

Yes you could spec and equip for a beastly 1on1 build (which Fat Disgrace might have faced) but would those be good in Conquest?

I also don’t see it as the best point holder in the game because you will get decapped during the distortion.

Mesmer is my 3rd pvp-class and I’m currently a bit struggeling with the builds I try.

They don’t fix it because nerfing DH to death will be easier. So after the balance patch noone will play maw/lb5 and the issue is “fixxed” /kappa xD

That was actually my most loved time in GW2. Condi Survival Ranger was actually really strong then so ranger was actually relevent… unlike now where I see a ranger on my team and I think “$#!% a ranger!?”

You know that druid it STRONK, very viable and on every top team?

Don’t want to burst anyones bubble concerning “yay no nerf”:

In this patch there was not a single balancing done, only tooltips and visual-noise.
The balancing (that is already late, gg not even the first balance came on time) will come later and we will surely see nerfs.

First balancing patch was out within 5 days after release of HoT.

I’d say first real "BIG " balance patch comes next week

Well what we had were hotfixes for broken things that made it past beta (or got introduced after BWE3). It only affected singular builds and not the balance of all classes as a whole.

I hope the ‘big’ balance patch will generally revert some of the powercreep. Nerfing most classes some.
