I can see both sides of the argument, but I do agree with loot being the driving force for most adventure stories. They almost always include a pot at the end of the rainbow. Not to mention replayability. Those games mentioned in a post above were just single play-through games. This game literally has no end.

i now how the math works for chance of drops. its still out of 100 kills i haven’t gotten one blue
Sounds like the anti-farming script kicking in. Try killing things on another map.
When running in a group helping each other with the storyline quests, we’re all in vent, and we all have the same missing audio. It’s not machine/network specific, we’re all over the county using different computers, different ISPs, etc., and all have the same missing audio during the face-to-face dialogs.
Achievements are account wide, not character specific.
Seems normal to me on a norn, you can walk around in the snow and see your foot prints, and they seem to be perfectly in sync, no treadmill effect.
Gear does play a part: a lvl 50 in a lvl 40 zone with lvl 50 gear will have higher stats than with lvl 40 gear (try it).
No matter how it works, it still makes for OP chars (for me since lvl 5, now lvl 65—20 levels too high) and the game too easy, forcing the missus and I to find areas where people aren’t in order to find some semblance of a good fight, which is contrary to what this mechanic is supposed to do.
Try fighting in the nude.
That’s funny, coz I got 40 wool for that, so yeah, I was still dissatisfied with the reward, even with the xp. I could farm much more xp off the mobs faster than wasting time finding all the vistas and POIs, not to mention the loot.
I don’t think you can call yourself an explorer, and then say that you are wasting time finding vistas and POIs. Explorers do just that, explore the map, look for easter eggs, find hidden things.
Most games don’t reward you at all, you just get the satisfaction of seeing everything. This game comes along and actually gives you something, and you complain about it.
Seems like another self entitled person wanting rewards for doing things they claim to enjoy.
There’s 4 or 5 threads about this in various parts of the forums. Basically, the audio was working fine until the patch on the 14th. Whatever they did is causing several NPC audio dialogs to not work anymore.
This is my 2nd time through the human area, so I know they worked before. Now it seems like every single part of the story has missing audio.
This just started happening yesterday after the last patch. I noticed it while running a storyline with a friend that I had already ran. During the cut scenes half of the dialog was just missing. Everyone in the group was wondering why the sound wasn’t working, so it wasn’t just me.
I noticed this yesterday too, seems like it started happening after the last patch. Either the patcher corrupted the audio files, or the patch had bad audio included, something happened.
Moobs? You are having problems with male breasts?
I’ve been playing since head start, for about 5 to 6 hours a day, over 6 different characters. My highest is level 33, and EVERY single one of my characters have crafting in 2 professions over level 150.
Reason being? I explore, I play the game how it’s meant to be played, and collect tons of mats while I’m out and about.
If you rushed to level 80, then you are going to have to go back to lower level areas and either look for jumping puzzles and easter eggs while collecting mats, or hate life and grind mats from one spot all day.
Are you disassembling all the junk loot that they drop? I get so much jute from breaking items down that my collection hit 250 jute scraps and I started giving it away to guildies.
What we have at the moment is a load of dungeons that apart from providing intrigue and in some cases fun (although this is limited by the lack of mechanics that seem to have been adopted possibly because there is no holy trinity in this game) on the first run through offer no feeling of satisfaction passed that. Once you have completed them once there is no real reason to go back apart from grind for gear that just provides a visual ‘upgrade’
So you want to be required to run the same dungeon over and over for “tokens” or some other currency, so that you can buy the required gear that you need to get in to the next dungeon… yeah there’s about 30 of those WoW clones that do that type of dungeon very well, I think you might be playing the wrong game.
ANet said they were removing the grind, and you want them to put it right back in.
And yes, believe it or not, not everyone made a ton of alts. I found out the class I wanted to play in beta.
Oh so you were a beta player. Well that makes sense. I played LOTRO beta and was almost level capped about a week after it went live, because I knew where everything was and what to do.
For a person who just started playing during head start, I don’t think they’d be capped yet unless running with someone who was in beta, or just straight racing to end game.
Pretty sure it’s due to player population, it seems like in very crowded areas, you get put in “limited visibility” mode.
You can see it during some events, where you run around and see 10+ mobs spawn and die instantly because they are already dead. You can also see other players appearing and disappearing depending on where you are standing.
I just don’t understand how people are level 80 already, unless they are only playing 1 character and racing to the end like theirs some finish line to reach. I’ve got 6 characters that I’m leveling up currently, and my highest one is level 33. (That’s playing about 6 hours a day)
There’s a cave entrance, to a cave full of spiders. You can basically see it right there on the map, about an inch to the right of where it says “Solitude Vale”
lol, I spent about an hour trying to get to that one before I noticed the closed sewer gate with the npcs behind it. I ran around looking for an open sewer gate and finally figured it out.
I really enjoy how people work together anywhere at anytime in PvE.
I have noticed occasionally that someone will run to a different mob rather than helping me kill something, either instinctively from other MMO experiences, or they just don’t know any better.
I’ve even seen people run up to a harvesting node at the same time, and then turn around and run off because they think I “tagged” it already. It doesn’t happen often, but it does happen.
They’ll figure it out eventually.
I just don’t see it. I guess your play style doesn’t fit with the elementalist. IMO they feel overpowered most of the time.
If you want EZmode where you don’t have to worry about getting hit, then maybe try a heavy armor class.
I’m only level 25 on my necro, and I rarely ever use the pets. I primarily use a scepter/focus and swap to dual daggers. (love dual daggers for melee range.) The only pet I have equip’d is the healing one, and I only pull it out if I need healing. My other 3 traits are the +power, +run speed, and +life force in combat.
Suggestion; dump the healing pet and use Consume Conditions. It’s sooo much better.
I saw that skill, but from what I gathered it only heals you when you have conditions going (I’ll admit I didn’t really look closely at it). Does it give you a base heal as well?
I’m not sure about higher levels, since I’m just about level 30 on my necro, but dual daggers work great for PvE when in a group. As soon as the mob switches agro to me I swap to scepter/focus and start kiting.

The game is still new, lots of people posting without knowing what the price should be, they just undercut the lowest bidder to make quick money.
This is stupid. You need incentive to have fun? If you aren’t having fun, do something else.
This is like playing football in your backyard, not the NFL. If you want fantastical prizes for competing, maybe this is the wrong game for you.
First off, why do you want to level so fast? There’s no monthly sub, there’s nothing to rush to. If you want level 80 PvP, just join an sPvP match and you are instantly level 80 with all skills.
Main thing I’ve found with my Ele is that you “HAVE” to stance dance if you want to be effective. You can’t just say “I am a water elementalist”, you have to use the appropriate stance for each situation.
My Ele is close to level 40, and by far my favorite class so far.
After reading some of the horror stories, I went and retraited my elementalist to have more toughness and vitality before running this dungeon. I suggested to my other guildies that they also retrait to more survivable builds. We only had a few deaths, mostly on the lover’s boss fight. The trash mobs were fairly easy though.
IMO, you have to think of your character as tank/dps/healer all-in-one in these dungeons, and should set your traits accordingly. You can’t go in with everything in Power/Precision and expect to be able to take a hit.
In other words, dungeons are not min/max friendly.
