Borlis Pass here, both Noll and the one in Kessex hills are bugged out.
And just to test things

Who’s idea was it to push out a new build when the login servers have been down for the past hour? Now I can’t log back in or download the patch.
Again, please stop spreading misinformation. Ascended items are equal to an exotic item with upgrade plus 8% more stats.
If you are referring to the ring in the article, did you notice that the exotic has a blue upgrade on it? While we are speculating, why not include the option that they may be adding exotic upgrades as well.
If the Ascended gear had the same stats as Exotics (base stats + gem) and an infusion slot (which only helped in Dungeons) then I’d be fine with it but the extra tier of gear…. No thanks.
I see a whole lot of ifs like this in this thread. People are going ape kitten over speculation. All I’ve read is that ascended gear will be roughly 8% better than BASE stat exotics. Since ascended gear doesn’t have an upgrade slot, the upgrades are built in. That also means ascended gear won’t be as flexible as exotic gear stat wise.
If you are having problems seeing your own character, get in a group and have someone in group target you (CTRL+CLICK), it will put a bright red target over your head so you can see exactly where you are.
I ran down there on my level 26 warrior, it was hilarious, the mobs were running from SO FAR AWAY just to get me. I didn’t know that they had an increased aggro range on lower level players. I ran up to the door to the catacombs at Fort Cadence, and the ghosts way in the back by the cannons all charged me LOL. I had to have help in there.
A person in my guild had this happen to her, she even left the instance and came back in and still had no waypoint button. I’m assuming it’s just a bug, relogging fixed it.
I pulled a random exotic, but a guildy of mine pulled the Arachnophobia bow, was on our 3rd run.
This jump puzzle is harder than Mega Man 9.
I’d like to see AVGN review this jumping puzzle, haha.
Seriously though, I loved this puzzle, when you first make it up to the 2nd part your heart starts racing. When I made it I almost jumped out of my chair
it’s not live yet, it’ll probably be part of act 4, which I’m guessing will be a halloween party that you can “attend”
Yeah I made the mistake of running it the first time on my level 30 warrior, only got 15 silver, and about 9k XP. Had no idea it was tied to your entire account, so my level 80 didn’t get any xp, karma or silver when I ran through it again.
It’s not that big of a deal though, it is just an event dungeon after all. I did enjoy running it several times, pulled a random exotic on my 2nd run, and one of my guildies pulled the arachnophobia bow (which looks sweet btw, props to the art department)
Ran 5 different alts through it with no problems, all different races. Sure it took me a couple of hours to get the jumps down, but after you learn it, it’s pretty easy. I thought it was the best thing to come out of the entire halloween event.
Just finished running the new dungeon with 2 other people in my guild, we had a blast. Lots of people seem to be missing the chest that spawns at the bottom in other threads. ALWAYS LOOK FOR A CHEST! :P
@Vzur @Rosen Myst: Have you guys not done any dungeons at all yet? You have to form up groups for any of them.
10 slot bag is garbage. It should’ve been 15.
You can do it at any level, you get scaled up to level 80, so a 10 slot bag is pretty nice on a lowbie.
I just can’t believe they made it a solo instance.. makes me want to just go back to the labyrinth, as much of a zergy mess as that was. A solo instance just seems so crazy anti-climactic.
Uh what? I just ran it with 4 other people.
Just ran it, you get a ton of XP, a 10 slot bag, and crafting items as the pop-up reward, but there is also a chest at the very bottom. Pulled an exotic and 2 greens, no complaints here.
I wasn’t referring to myself, my computer isn’t that old. I just don’t have the care factor to flog my way through it like my life depended on it. :P
If it is not doable in a few attempts, it is not fun in my definition of fun so I am outta there. Good luck to those that put themselves through it. I am not busting my kitten to get all the achievements, just the ones that are fun for me.
This event is just not fun for me or most people I know. Someone else can’t tell you what you find fun, it is an opinion each person has.
If I wanted a super hard challenge, I would go climb mount Everest. I just like to relax and have ‘fun’ with computer games.
Well there you go, some people enjoy a challenging game that requires patience and lots of trial and error. I remember playing old console games (back in the 90s) non-stop until I beat certain parts. Some of the older NES games were brutal, way worse than this.
I’ve done it with a human female, a sylvari female, and a norn female, all seems the same to me, didn’t have any problems on the last jump.
There are two chests to the left in the first part of the puzzle. Then there is a third when you jump down, and the fourth reward chest when finishing
There’s actually only 3 chests; the one you see on the left near the beginning, is the one you jump down to later in the puzzle. There’s 3 total.
What he said. Only 3 chests.
Some people also just don’t have the twitchy reflexes that others do, for some people this will be extremely trivial. Of the 40 odd people in my guild, nobody has successfully done it. If it was reasonable in terms of difficulty then I think some people should have got it that I know of.
If you turn your settings down to best performance you shouldn’t have any problems with graphical lag, unless you have a 10 year old computer. The thing is, some people just aren’t good at jumping puzzles, period.
If you keep at it though, and learn each jump, you’ll eventually get it. I’ve already run 3 of my alts through it and it gets easier each time. (and I’m getting dangerously close to being 40 years old)
the dynamic event in LA is the countdown (progress bar is filling) to the main event.
You should see a giant pumpkin head on your map, where the central fountain is.
Play?
This is a game after all. Do you need someone to hold your hand?
I wouldn’t doubt it if people took the day off of work today so that they could play the Halloween events. I’d be kitten if I did that, but my world doesn’t revolve around games.
eww, it makes it look all bright and neon-glowy, reminds me of blizzard’s style.
I just sold a few stacks of lowbie crafting materials and made over 5 gold. I’m guessing the people that are broke either skip harvesting (which is stupid, you get XP for harvesting), or they craft themselves and spend everything on crafting.
But to answer the OP, I have about 20 gold across all of my characters.
They can launch the patch at 11:59 PM tonight, and technically it would still be correct, since it’s still the 22nd.
Patches always happen around noon Pacific time, I’m not sure why people are expecting something different this time.
the server status shows currently logged in players, not offline players.
You won’t get the “server full: login later” message in this game, due to the overflow servers.
i thought for ages this game needs tank and healer but its all more of using available traits and stuff , rather than having a set player holding the aggro and one mass healing.
You just described just about every other MMO out there.
I just got to level 80 on my engineer last week, and only have 42% map completion. So now I’m leveling up a necromancer, visiting the places I haven’t seen yet, and taking my time while I wait for new content.
We just recently 4 man’d the level 50 (and we were all right around level 50) storymode dungeon. Only had 3 or 4 deaths during the whole thing. (mostly at the end fight)
We had a thief, a hunter, an elementalist, and an engineer. Between the thief and engineer, the mobs were just about perma-blind.
Hey look, no tank at all.
Casuals can’t really enjoy most of the game. I started another character recently and I could find nowhere near the amount of dynamic events I had with previous characters. The game is awefully boring without lots of players in the map.
Most of those dynamic events have a quest starter, you have to find and talk to the guy/girl to get the event started. Otherwise you are just relying on the normal push/pull events that fire off during the day.
The complaint of “leveling too fast” is valid in a game where you can out-level content, but GW2 has a level scaling system that lowers your level to the area you are in. There is no out-leveling content in this game, so this thread is moot.
Yeah, my advice is to avoid the forums lol. People love to complain.
Also, just play it like you are going on an adventure, just roam around and see what happens. If you get it set in your mind that you need to do X-Y-Z to get your next level, you’ll be stuck right back in the leveling loop.
Basically, the entire game is end-game, there’s no need to rush to 80 “where the real game begins.” Your level goes down to the area you are in, so pretty much everything is re-playable.
It’s just RP fluff. Occasionally you’ll get a dialog option that allows you to use your personality, such as having (Charming) at the end of a dialog option that wouldn’t normally be available.
GTX 480, overclocked to be equivalent to a 580
Lol @ whoever was complaining about a 20 minute fight but having people getting “randomly” one shot. You know what? It isn’t random. Learn the mechanic, stop dying, you stop spending all that time picking up your downed teammates. Turns your 20 minute encounter into a 10-15 minute encounter tops.
Again, seriously a big L2P issue going on in this thread.
Agreed. I keep seeing people say they should be able to play however they want to. I don’t get that statement. Should I be able to pick up a soccer ball and throw it for a touchdown while running the bases, because that’s how I want to play golf?
Hey matey, there is no such a thing as ‘you are playing it wrong’.
There are no wrong ways to play, only different ways.
That depends on your definition of “playing”.
Are you trying to be the best darn Mesmer you can be, trying to go as long as you can without dying, researching traits and skills for an optimal build… or do you just wander around willy nilly without a care in the world, and who cares if you die or not, it’s just a game.
The game has been out for a little over a month now, and you sound like you are expecting to see thousands of walkthroughs listed all over Google already.
It takes people time to make those. YouTube videos are as simple as clicking a record button, and then posting it.
I feel like someone having to click on your character, and squint to see little gray font to see the title
I didn’t even know you could do that. I selected one of the titles and asked my guild members if they saw the title over my head or anything, and nobody saw anything.
I’ve been playing non-stop since launch, and the only real problem I have is the bugged events and skill points. Working on my 2nd character after getting my engineer to 80 (loving the double dagger necro)
If not auto-loot, I’d at least like to have AoE looting like other games have started to add. Hit the button once and it loots everything in the immediate area, rather than running around spamming F.
I keep seeing this, And no one explains what they mean
Meaning people are learning how to use combos effectively, and learning what utility skills work best for different situations. How and when to weapon swap to maximize dps/efficiency. How to work with other classes. etc. etc.
My recommendation: Rata Sum or Divinity’s Reach. RS doesn’t have bars or large halls like DR does.
The Norn capital city has huge meeting halls, one for each of the animal gods. (Bear/Raven/Wolf/Leopard)
If they did allow instance switching, it would be a nice way to look for non-bugged skill challenges and events as well.
But you know how that goes, as soon as they implemented it, people would start switching instances and farming the same crafting nodes and mobs in one area over and over.
So you are saying world bosses are just zerg fests, and since there is no more holy trinity, you want to be able to form a raid so you can have an organized zerg fest?
