Did you manage to download the main game update on Tuesday the 15th and it is only encountering this issue with downloading one of the mini patches since then?
I know some people have had issues following major updates to where they need to re-enable the Run As Administrator setting for the game executable.
I haven’t popped into your attached report yet to see if it may be something more complex, but can you ensure that you have your game set to Run As Admin and then try to load it up again?
Run As Admin
I think it is due to people enabling the Run As Admin setting on the main executable’s properties and then a patch replaces that executable and the settings need to be re-applied again. It is better to enable the Run As Admin setting in the properties of a shortcut to the game instead of on the main executable as the shortcut will not be overwritten by an update and thus its settings remain unchanged.
(edited by StinVec.3621)
If you are on a Windows PC, try to:
Make sure you are running the game with administrator privileges
If the issue still occurs:
Clear the game cache
In addition to ‘Running As Administrator’ helping with many issues other than just the TP, most TP-specific issues are primarily related to some temporary GW2 files where removing them will allow them to be recreated and the TP to function properly again.
The quickest way to clear the GW2 Cache is to:
If your search for “gw2cache” does not produce the folder I mentioned, then you will need to enable hidden files and folders in order to delete this cache folder.
Make hidden files visible and clear the game cache
—note—
By “window menus” I mean up at the top of the window where it says “File Edit View Tools Help”. If that bar does not display in your window for you along the top, then click the drop-down arrow next to the word “Organize” and then click on “Layout” and select “Menu bar” to enable showing of the menus (attached image #2).Another way to do Steps 3, 4 and 5 to make hidden folders visible is:
- Click your Start menu and then open Control Panel
- In your Control Panel, if items are sorted by “Category” then select “Appearance and Personalization” on the right side, then in the second bottom area under “Folder Options” click on “Show hidden files and folders”. This will open the same options dialogue box shown in attached image #1.
- Otherwise, if Control Panel is sorted by Icons, simply click on “Folder Options” from the list to bring up the options dialogue box shown in attached image #1.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Is-not-having-the-Holy-Trinity-good-or-bad/3160310
Those are some of my thoughts on the rpg relic called “levels” and how they are left over from, and are directly related to, the trinity system.
Removing the trinity was only partially done in GW2. If they really wanted to remove it then they should have removed the other elements of MMORPGs that only exist in a game because the trinity demands they exist.
Removal of the trinity entails much more than simply removing dedicated healer/tank/dps roles from the game. Fully removing the trinity also demands removal of the pointless relics that no longer have justification for existing; character level, armor weight class restrictions, weapons restriction by class, base stats varying from class to class, etc.
Due to removing these other obsolete concepts directly tied to the trinity, the advancement system should have been tied to skill usage (aka – actual experience using skills) and not to some irrational, unjustified, dictated, blanket stat increaser (character level).
I expand on these thoughts at that link from some time ago if anyone is interested in seeing some more thoughts on that subject.
Paraphrasing what Purple Miku stated so appropriately – how does sitting back and making a ton of cookies suddenly cause a player to become more effective in combat with absolutely all weapons and skills against all types of enemies?
Also, why, after killing 1-5 enemies, do I suddenly know how to do some new skill with my weapon? Shouldn’t I first have to learn how to perform that skill from someone who knows how to do it…like a skill trainer? Shouldn’t I get better and more effective with a skill the more I use it? Why do I suddenly have poison to put on my arrows (ranger short bow 2) simply because I’ve shot a few enemies in their face with plain arrows? Shouldn’t I have to learn to how to mix the poison to then be able to apply it to my arrows? Shouldn’t my poison get more toxic to enemies with more experience making and perfecting the poison?
:\ Perhaps one day a game will be like that. Watered-down character and skill progression that lacks any kind of depth, challenge or reason is alright for a short while, but not something that can demand and retain attention, or provide continuing enjoyment for very long. It’s ok for passing time when one feels in the mood for mindless gameplay with superficial progression that does not demand much effort after a long day, but there is no reason why a game, this game, cannot offer that to players as well as offering depth and challenges for those that desire it. There is too much uniformity in gameplay experience as dictated by The Company, and even less freedom every day to play how we want to and to excel in the areas we desire and enjoy. Sweet irony, apparently. Oh well. As I said, perhaps one day.

For those that are not interested in reading the whole thread (or even the last page or two) to see if the cause/solution was already posted, please see my post on page 10 which also includes a graphic and an explanation for the cause and ways to lessen the occurrence of the issue. May want to also continue reading some of the conversation that followed on that page.

Strider’s Boots -GEM STORE- Clips With Bare Legs And Most Pants
Species: Sylvari
Gender: Female
Class: Medium Armor
Body Type: All.
Item: Strider’s Boots (Gem Store)
Issue: Clips with bare legs and 90% of leggings
Description:
Boots clip with the bare skin of the character.
Also clips with pretty much every pair of leggings in the game.
Pretty disappointed that yet another gem store armor has issues…even with the bare skin of the character. Are they not even test worn on different body types? Takes 5 minutes to test it on each body type of a single gender of a single species. Please spend a fraction of an afternoon and check new armors out properly on characters before throwing them into the store.
After buying almost every gem store armor released, I have only a single one that doesn’t have clipping all over it or some graphics issue like red bleeding all over its edges.
For gems/real money they should be of high quality.
There is no excuse for Gem Store armor to be clipping with the bare skin of the model (let alone the reported issue of the Zodiac chest clipping with itself that still isn’t fixed)!
Real disappointing.
Why continue purchasing armors if this is the quality of them that gets released?
And after months of these issues with Gem Store armors being reported they’ve still not been fixed…

I’m going to say it’s roughly 200-220MB.
Just patched
I concur, just over 200MB or so.
One thing that could kick it in to work properly is to make the patcher download a replacement local.dat file that can be about 20mb. From what I’m finding it could also actually be the problem and why it is trying to download something when there is no update to download yet.
Delete the local.dat file
Deleting this file will also cause you to lose your saved game settings (graphics, stored login data, etc.) but may fix the problem. If you rely on your stored login info to log in, make sure you can recall what your login info is as the stored login info is also cleared.
The quickest way to do this is to:
Sorry, I’ve not seen this type of issue before of downloading a little bit when there is nothing to download, and then dropping to 0kb/s and crashing. I’m digging through everything I can find that can even remotely cause it.
So far I’m only seeing some possibly related things, but they do not seem likely:
Can you check in your game installation directory and see if there is a Gw2.tmp file? Is its size larger than 0kb in size?
Hmm.
Perhaps this, if you would:
Check the game for errors and repair it
Make sure you are:
Running As Admin
A question regarding gem store dye replacements:
I purchased two Cinders dye from the Trading Post. This is a gem store dye, but I didn’t buy it with gems. Will I still get a Cinders replacement dye sent to me via in-game mail, or will I only get the usual unidentified dye as my replacement?
The wording in the OP seems to be that it does not matter how you acquired them, that if you have more than one of those listed in the OP unlocked after you log in all of your characters, that you can expect the duplicate(s) to be sent to your in-game mailbox between May 6 and May 12 without need of filing a support ticket to request the replacement.
im mor ejust miffed cos they have given me a reason to have so sit infront of the computer waiting for this update before i can go anywhere :p
NO, they have not.
You are doing that to yourself. You know the cut-off for the free trans charges is still 15 hours away. Go do something for 10 hours and you still have 5 left to login.
Noone is making you sit there and wait except you.Just wanted to mention that it is actually 26 hours and 26 minutes away; 11:59am PDT April 16th.
It’s actually almost 38.5 hours away because it’s 11:59 PM PDT, not 11:59 AM.
Incorrect, it is 11:59 AM PDT April 16th…not PM.
edit
Nevermind…they stealth edited the post to be PM instead of AM. This is why there is so much confusion. It used to say AM.

(edited by StinVec.3621)
Yes, it is an issue. BECAUSE THEY ONLY HAND OUT CHARGES FOR THIS DAY.
I have all the time in the world today, thank god. But alot of players might miss out on the free charges if they plan to bullkitten us with postponing update patch as long as possible.
Don’t announce that kitten if you know the patch might not be ready when promised.
my 2c’s
It’s like a cloth company telling guests to show up during a catwalk show and have a free shirt. then they delay the catwalk to the next day. thats bad advertising..
You could spend 25 minutes in-game, right now, and get 15 transmutation stones for free, which will make 5 transmutation charges. Sit here for another half hour and you could already have more than the 5 free charges they are giving away. They’re not that major of a thing to get worked up about…

All refund requests should be submitted via support tickets starting now. Refunds will be issued in the form of gems to eligible accounts.
Is it a problem if i already sent the ticket 1,5 hours ago, and should i repost it, or isn’t that a real problem ?
Don’t repost, it’ll slow the system up. It can take up to 3 days for them to respond anyway and that’ll prob be extended to 5 days. I suspect support are up to speed so they should still deal with your early request.
Thats what i also think .. it just made me a little confused why they don’t postet at first when we should start writing tickets, and then some hours later they say : go now.
Previously we were instructed to wait until the patch was released to submit any refund requests relating to the update. I’m sure it was more like they wanted us to hold off on submitting them until they could actually do something about the refunds instead of having all of the tickets sit in limbo for over a month until they were able to process them. His saying we could start submitting the tickets is likely that support is now well prepared for the mass of refund requests and that it’s ok to send them now instead of waiting until after the patch actually goes live.
Some points to clarify regarding refund requests for items:
Excluding dyes:
All refund requests should be submitted via support tickets starting now. Refunds will be issued in the form of gems to eligible accounts.
Dyes:
If you follow the instructions regarding logging in all characters you will automatically receive your eligible replacement dyes between May 6 and May 12.
You do not need to submit a ticket for dyes.To submit a ticket click support at the top of this page.
On the following page click submit a ticket in the upper right corner of the page.
Thank you very much, Mr. Henninger. I’m glad we do not need to wait until after we download the patch to submit our tickets. I’ll submit my refund request now. I will edit my posts stating to wait until after patching to reflect your update on that matter.
Have a great day!
Hi, what should I send to customer support if I have 2 pve Krytan boots, full Krytan pvp set and 2 Rox’s quivers (pve and pvp one)? Will screenshots be enough? How much refund will I get for 2x 800gems each and 1 for 600gems? All 2200gems?
No screenshots needed, they have your purchase history. Since only the duplicates would be refunded you need only list the items that are excess. So if you’ve bought a total of 3 Krytan sets, you would request a refund on 2 of them. Purchased 2 Quivers, request a refund for one of them, etc. Also, Krytan sets have always been 500 gems, not 800 like the skins released to the gem store after launch.
Try something like this:
Greetings.
As mentioned by Michael Henninger (ArenaNet Game Support Lead) in this GW2 forum thread ( https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Customer-Support-and-the-Feature-Pack/3896529 ) I would like to request the gem refund offered for duplicate gem store skins purchased now that the wardrobe has gone live.I have purchased duplicate sets of each of these gem store items:
- 2 Krytan Medium Armor Sets (500 gems each = 1,000 gems)
- 1 Rox’s Quiver Skin (600 gems)I thank you very much for offering this 1600 gem refund request on duplicate items purchased from the gem store and I look forward to my request being filled. If any more information is required of me I will provide it.
- My Name
That’s basically what I will be sending.
I listed more information and step-by-step instructions to filing a support ticket here if you need a hand or some pointers to filing your refund request.

If you are on a Windows-based PC, would you consider giving this a try, please. It has helped fix the problem of a single character stuck at a loading screen in the past for other users.
If it does not fix the problem then you will likely need to file a support ticket as it is likely to be something they would have to help resolve. You can file a support ticket by clicking Support link at the top of this page, and then clicking on Submit A Request in the top right of that support page.
do we know if auras and footprints carry over with legendary skins? im wondering if the weapon has to be legendary for the extra aesthetics
Yes they do. Weapons that have a legendary skin applied to them are visually identical to the original legendaries that unlocked the skin in the wardrobe and provide the exact same additional visuals to your character.
HoM is does not exist until the Eye of the North expansion, which is required to open the HoM.
Yes, linking a qualifying GW1 account to your GW2 account will grant 3 points.
Note: Only accounts with the Eye of the North expansion and who have unlocked the Hall of Monuments are eligible for rewards.

Will be sure to update after the patch. Though I download kind of slow so I’m sure others will update before I would be able to. Will be nice to also find out how much I’ll be downloading due to others downloading quicker than I and being so kind as to update here.
Yeah. :\
As mentioned, there is a 5% Listing Fee and a 10% Sales Fee.
The Projected Profit does not include the 5% listing fee in its calculation.
Due to this, one can actually lose coin on the sale despite the Projected Profit showing…well, a profit.
To find out your actual Profit, you must manually subtract the Listing Fee from the Projected Profit to see how much profit you are actually making on selling the item.
Yeah, it’s pretty silly and illogical that Projected Profit does not also take the Listing Fee into account when displaying your Projected Profit. It isn’t actually showing your Projected Profit for the entire transaction.
Again, Projected Profit does not include the Listing Fee, only Sell price minus 10% Sales Fee. In the above example you are actually paying 1c to get rid of the item instead of vending it.
Scale these values higher and the loss is even greater.
Before listing an item, be sure to manually subtract the Listing Fee from the Projected Profit to find out the real amount of coin you’ll get from the entire transaction.
Dafq..has this been there since the start?
Went in somewhere last year, but i don’t remember exactly when. Was in the patch notes, if you are really curious you might look them up.
Had been requested as a feature for a long time and got added in back in November.
:)
Does anyone know where I can request a refund?
When I got to en.support.guildwars2.com I get this:
Page not found
Also I found this refund page: https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/27697743-Refunds
But that only covers refunds of the full game, or gems. Not refunds for specific items (such as gemstore armor).
Yeah, they never updated the support link at the top of the page, just made it route to the proper page…which sometimes does not properly route or load.
I posted this over in the account area to help out someone there:
After the patch becomes available today then you are able to submit a request for the duplicate to be refunded…but not until after the patch is released. You should get the (600) gems refunded for the duplicate without a problem.
If you are not sure how to submit a ticket, at the top of this page click on “Support”, then in the top right of that page click the “Submit a request” link and fill in all applicable areas.
- Purchase Issue
- Email address to be contacted at by Support
- Subject (Mine will be “Wardrobe – Refund on Duplicate gem store skins”)
- Description of the issue
- Issue – [No Selection] box – Select “Refund” in the drop-down and then “Gem Purchase”
- Your name
- Email associated with your account
skip billing section since you used gold > gem conversion- DOB
- GW2 Serial
- GW2 Name (your ForumName.1234 name)
- Submit
Easy peasy.
You should also receive a type of “we’ve received your support request” email, but if you do not receive one of those, please check your spam box. If it’s not there, see this sticky thread also.
Then give them plenty of time to see to your request…there will be many thousands so please be patient while they get to them all.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World#Transferring
“When you move, you will lose access to all your guild improvements on your original world (unless you move back). This includes any guild vault and all of its contents. Accordingly, if you have any items stored in a group or personal guild vault, be sure to move them to one of your existing characters and/or your personal bank before transferring.”
You would need to fully transfer back to the server that has the upgrades to once again access them.
I know Razer has some left-handed versions of mice, as well as some older models with flippable side panels so it can be used properly by both left- and right-handed players.
Here are a couple currently on their site:

Razer Naga Left-Handed Edition (US$79.99 & free shipping)

I’m quesstimating it will be about 900mb to 1gig, though it could be between 600mb and 2gig for all we know. What is still quite irksome is that we still will not know how large of a download it is until the last file finishes downloading due to the percentage of progress being based on number of files and not on the size of the files in the entire update. We could be at 500MB downloaded and sitting at 99% with 1 file to go and that last file could be 2gigs in size and continue to sit at 99% for a few more hours.
This reminded me I had a Master Manual unused on one of my characters. Was able to sell it instantly for 74 silver to recoup some of its cost. Still a ton of buy orders on the TP, can sell them immediately and recoup most of their cost before the people yank their buy orders or the items are removed or deleted.
They will not be rendered obsolete after the patch. No need for a reimbursement for their cost.
Re-read the trait blog, seems I missed a paragraph last time. Ignore my response please.

I swear I’ve quoted a dev or a blog post stating those in the bank are detected automatically upon logging in. I can’t find it again just yet.
Will know soon enough I suppose.
If you have items in your bank that are soulbound to a deleted character, thus cannot be placed into a character’s inventory to unlock its skin, right-clicking will give the option to unlock it manually. Also, right-clicking and hitting Destroy will unlock it in the wardrobe as well since any item you destroy automatically has its skin unlocked if it was not unlocked already.
I’m really curious to se how much of the Wardrobe I populate just by logging in
.
And merging my dye collections (different characters focused on different hues) will be quite something to see.
:) I have an entire inventory of a character dedicated to storage of skins as my personal wardrobe. Will be nice to free up much of that space. Will also get some nice materials from salvaging many of these items that are only existing to hold those skins.
Oh. I thought the dye thing was for ANY duplicate of dyes…. I have collected all dyes I have found on any character I have recently just to get those duplicates… Now I will have none…. Nvm… I better read more carefully next time.
He is talking about gem refunds on duplicate gem store dyes on multiple characters, not the unidentified dyes provided to you for each duplicate unlocked non-gem store dye across your characters.
I hope all of you have a great and exciting day on the job today and everything goes well.
Really looking forward to hopping in to the new features and seeing what you’ve worked on for so long for us.
Sincerely,
<~ This guy.
Those in your personal bank are detected and added to the wardrobe also. No need to put them into a character’s inventory.
12 hrs 18 mins into 15.4.14 here and no patch!
Not even any patch notes to QQ about and kick up a storm, that turns into a complete damp squib when we actually play it.
OMG! No drama…need drama, bored senseless at work…
Here you go.
Yeah. Can always use an empty character slot (if you have one) to make a new character with the starter headpiece/shoulderpiece you want, log in with it into the game and unlock that skin in the wardrobe, then delete the character. Think a lot of people will be doing that for thieves, eles, warriors, etc that have choices of starter equipment during creation.
You are able to submit a request for the duplicate to be refunded. You may do so as of right now per this dev post. You should get the (600) gems refunded for the duplicate without a problem.

So, when you log in and enter the Mists, the items worn, in your inventory, as well as those in your locker will be automatically added to the wardrobe (as long as they are bound items, which they all should be). So just enter the Mists and you’re good to go, nothing more is needed on your part.
Yes what?
That wasnt a yes or no answer.No.
I can only think of one thing after this fascinating and coherently informative conversation:
What if I bought 25 transmutation splitters, havent used them yet, and dont wish to change my 6k gem worth items on 4k gem worth items? Can I get my 6k gems back? There might have been sale…I dont remember. So maybe I bought them cheaper, but it still was around 5k gems.
They recently stated that transmutation splitters will still retain their current functionality. I think they will have it so you can right-click it and select to convert it to T-Charges, but double-clicking it will activate as normal. So they will still have their functionality for the purpose they were purchased for.
I’ll see if I can find where they mentioned this. What is the reason to use them, if all skins now saved in the wardrobe? They made them essentially useless. There wouldn’t be anymore transmutations of items, since you would just use skins to transmute.
For the purpose of regaining the stats of an item that was not selected, most notably in the case of a legendary being transmuted to a white item to make it account bound. Since the legendary stat selection at will ability would be lost, using the splitter would be a way of regaining it. Not sure why anyone would want to buy 25 transmutation splitters in the first place if they weren’t going to be used, or how one can even have a need for 25 of them, but to each their own. Suppose it wouldn’t hurt to send support a ticket and inquire about it, just do not get your hopes up for them to get refunded.

Very appropriate music at the start, one I haven’t heard in a while…
Brainbug – Nightmare. BRRRAAAAINIIIINNNNSSSS!!!!!
Nicely choreographed as well. ((thumbs up))
:D
I’ve been playing Brainbug – Nightmare on repeat since I watched this video…5 hours ago!
I loved the part where a guy started yelling for everyone to repent. It isn’t an apocalypse if that isn’t being yelled by someone.
If you are playing on a Mac, please see this thread for the situation and the temporary workaround to get your TP working again.
If you are on a Windows PC, can you please try the steps:
Run As Admin
If the issue persists:
Looks like you guys figured it out, but I’ll make it official anyways.
- Splitters aren’t sold any more because, all skins you would get with a splitter will already be unlocked by the wardrobe system automatically.
- The only reason to use a splitter at this point is to get the stats of the current appearance back. (Or as someone mentioned to create an extra item salvage, but i’d suggest you save your splitter and trade it in for charges if you want value)We are not removing them from inventory automatically. You will trade them in at a black lion trading post after the 15th.
Say, if I bought Phalanx armor, applied every skin on a character’s armor and then transmuted them to look like a different set, will I still have Phalanx unlocked? I’m asking this because I read a post saying otherwise.
You will unlock the current skin on each armor item as well as the default skin of the item you selected the stats from.
As the phalanx skins are stat-less and are applied onto an item, overwriting that skin means it is lost forever.
If you have at least one piece of the skin left unused or on a piece of armor then the entire phalanx set will be unlocked.
If you overwrote all of the phalanx skins with a new skin then your phalanx set would need to be purchased again to unlock in your wardrobe.
Best thing I have seen in all my time in MMOs.
Well done. Very well done.
Zombies: all it takes is one to start the beginning of the end.
It is such a logical feature to have that it should already have been an option to select when more than one are unlocked. It’s never too late to add options like this. Hopefully they will.
Perhaps the first selection area should be a configuration box that has a drop-down selection to choose:
Included a mock-up.
