Accessing character sheet while on mount

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I believe ‘C’ is a default mount ability bind.

Also, I believe the mount bind section is implemented and configurable even though PoF is not released, so no need to wait to check it out for a conflict. You would, however, need to wait until release to see if correcting the conflict (if there is one to correct) resolves the issue.

Accessing character sheet while on mount

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I have not taken part in any demo for PoF so I cannot comment on what issues I did or did not encounter.

However, one thing to check is to see if there is a keybind conflict.

Perhaps you have a mount ability bound to the same key as your character sheet, where hitting it while unmounted opens the sheet, but hitting it while mounted causes a conflict or something and neither the mount ability or the character sheet are activating.

May just double check all of your binds to see if anything is conflicting in the primary/secondary bound keys for all functions against what you have your character sheet bound to. Couldn’t hurt.

Good color combinations for Sylvari?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Here are some of my female sylvari characters.

Despite some of them not being rangers and are light/heavy armor professions, and that several do not have their glow visible due to my recording these during daytime in-game, you may still be able to use some of their colors and dyes for some ideas.

Any more details wanted for sliders or armors/dyes, just message me here (or in-game to see them in person).

I see that you love the black “skin” with bright colored “hair”! I was thinking about doing black and blue (or purple), but seeing my Sylvari with black skin just made her seem “emo” or “Necromancerish”, even if black can make dying armor so much easier (no clashing of crazy colors).

I primarily use the blackened skin as a base and then use a brighter color on the pattern to add highlighting tones that would then blend with the armor dyes. Sort of an alternating dark>color>light>color>dark configuration with the skin, hair and armor dyes.

I have tried many times to use a lighter base, sort of an inversion of the above, but it seems to turn the pattern color to more of a pastel/faded color instead of the vibrant contrast against the dark skin. I have also tried to use the color for the base and then use the pattern color to darken the transition from skin to hair/armor, but I feel it is too much color as a base and the pattern color being dark doesn’t really appear against the bright base as I’d like it to.

This is mainly why I’ve done them all with the darker base, as well as the ‘black goes with anything’ aspect of fashion that you noted.

However, as I like necro/dark/gloss black stuff, that “Necromancerish” vibe it adds to them works to my taste.

Are you able to post screenshots of the ones you’ve got as gifs? The thumbnails look great but (at least on my PC) those gifs are barely bigger than the thumbnail so it’s impossible to see any detail, and even harder when won’t stop moving.

Here’s my latest sylvari, for the beta test. Gaile’s post may have had some slight influence (although blue and purple are also my favourite colours, I usually have to make a concious effort to pick anything else).

Hey, Danikat!

Some of the images are pretty out of date (years old) and others are of characters I’ve long since abandoned, so I apologize if I do not have the exact appearances immediately at hand to recapture, but I hope this combo pic of some of their current appearances will offer closer details you are wanting.

The lower bar is of alt armors for one character (really love the blue on her) and then an orange character I’ve not done much with as I am still looking to acquire destroyer orange and better orange colors.

(not very happy with the selection of orange dyes available in-game as well as those that are available not dyeing medium armor materials too well)

Shared Inventory already out of sale?!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

One thing I have noticed for a very long time that they’ve not bothered to correct is that the countdown timer for time left on the sale for an item and the notification of how many of them you are permitted to purchase use the same spot on the item.

As a result, when an item is on sale and it is in its final 24 hours at that sale price, if you can only purchase a limited number of this item then the “You can only purchase up to X of this item” (however it is worded) has priority over the time left countdown timer.

Because of this, the countdown timer is not visible on an item that is only available in limited quantity, leaving prospective buyers to not know that it is running out of time, but at least they know how many they can buy.

This could be why there was no countdown timer visible on this item as the purchase limit notification is displayed in its place.

Maybe one day they will make it so if both are applicable on the item, both will be visible instead of the improper way of how it is and has been.

Buy/Sell history of an item

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Also to note in case you or others were unaware, if you open your chat in-game and type /wiki itemname it will open your web browser to the GW wiki for that item. You can also shift+click the item to send it to chat to look up a specific item instead of a general wiki search.

So:
- open chat
- type /wiki (and put a space)
- shift+click the item in your inventory or anything that can be linked to chat
- send

Helps to speed up the wiki search when you want to look up a specific item.

Transmutation Charges Crisis

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I have 26ish characters that I completely re-fashioned many times and have never bought charges via any means. I do not PvP but I’ve not really encountered issues of running low on transmutation charges.

If you are interested:
Just as some players would ‘farm’ black lion keys with new characters, you can have a character slot dedicated to doing a ‘T Charge Run’ to earn a couple in about 10 minutes.
Yep, my actual character name

  • Make a sylvari and map complete The Grove
  • Go to Rata Sum and map complete it
  • Delete > Repeat.
  • Optimized run gives 2 charges in about 10-12 minutes (depending on instance boss availability)

You could go and do other cities, but by the time you complete just one of the other cities (Divinity’s Reach, Hoelbrak or Black Citadel) you could have already re-created the character and gotten The Grove done and be moving on to Rata Sum again. (exception being Black Citadel where an optimized path might be worth including in the run, barely)

So:

  • Make a quick sylvari character (or asura, but I feel sylvari starter instance is done slightly quicker)
  • After instance, turn around and enter The Grove (or Rata Sum)
  • Run through and ‘map complete’ the city (optimal path can be figured after a few runs)
  • Waypoint to outside Rata Sum (or The Grove) and run in
  • Run through and ‘map complete’ the city (again, figuring optimal path as you do the runs helps decrease overall run time)

__

I feel 2 charges in 10ish minutes is decent, especially since you can choose to take your time, chat, do other things or even take a break and pick up where you left off and are not locked in to an activity like taking part in PvP.
(You you can also sell/scrap some starter items for a few copper/silver if so inclined.)

If you would like to do a few test runs and follow me around to learn what I feel are decently optimal paths, contact me in-game and we can do a few runs. I had liked to try to get ‘my best time’ when doing them, but I’ve not done them for a while so I may be a bit rusty on tweaks to shave 1-3 seconds off total run time.

New expansion pack... new forums?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

The forums use proprietary software by a firm with which ANet no longer does business. Whatever needs to be done to update them would require replacing the system. Since the forums work and nearly all the bugs can be worked around easily, it seems like a needless expense.

It doesn’t have a night mode, which is pathetic in current times.

I’m not sure why any website would waste time and effort adding in a night mode when every web browser available has dozens of them that users can choose from, as well as thousands of custom themes for sites that would likely conflict with ANet’s night mode were they to offer one.

If you want one, get one.

Try this:

This is likely the best you will find. It is easy and safe to use and you can even add in your own custom defined cursors. I like to use several animated ones for different functions.

Oo…omg the pointer is HUGE…hard to lose now lololol

Indeed, it does offer a huge pointer as a size choice. As noted in its instructions for customization, you are able to toggle between several cursor sizes and styles/colors, in addition to just dropping in the cursor of your choice.

Gaile, PoF forum section please?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I feel that a PoF forum section should have been added immediately before or right after the announcement due to the influx of questions, clarifications and discussions on content and changes it offers. One was not.

I think it would be in the interest of players (and for your and other moderators’ sanity) to keep all released and upcoming information and questions regarding the next expansion in one area so as to prevent this flood in the general discussion forum of many of the same PoF topics. If they are in one area then information can be pinned and questions more easily seen and answered without wading through regular non-PoF threads.

Is it possible that a PoF forum could be added above the HoT forum please? If so, might it be added sooner rather than later? Thank you.

no new system specs Path of fire no buy

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Um… can someone, a dev or mod, clarify the minimum space requirements? It says 50 GB. Is that for all the current content?

Right now, GW2 is about 29.4 GB for its GW2.dat file (and I have HoT). I only have about 32 GB of space left on my computer… Do I actually need 50 more GB or is the 50 GB including at least the core game?

That is an excellent question. I’ll check for you.

And the answer is, the 50 GB is for everything, not in addition to what’s already in use. Thanks for asking — it’s worth knowing in case others wonder about it.

Crap… I don’t want to uninstall 50% of my other games. Can’t afford a larger SSD yet.

I was in the same situation as you and I recently encountered a need to replace a failing mechanical drive that had games on it. Ended up getting a 1 terabyte mechanical drive from Newegg for about $38 USD. It is working fantastic (so far).

Unfortunately that $39 had been what I managed to get together over the last year to get PoF when it releases. As I have still not been able to get HoT I was looking forward to getting PoF. (I likely will not be able to for a very long time now). I’m just glad system requirements haven’t skyrocketed as GW2 has run great on my Radeon HD 5750 1gig from 2010 with a case fan screwed into it and I don’t have an additional $100 for a GPU upgrade on top of the one expansion cost.

Anyway, if you are able to scrape $39 together (even if it takes until the end of the year and miss the launch), there were a few good 1TB drives on Newegg for about $39 and free shipping, or 2TB for like $48.

Papaya expansion name speculation thread

(I’m actually interested in this expansion because of those leaks.)

I’m leaning toward “Glass” words, personally, due to the sandy nature.
GW2: Tides of Glass (ToG)
GW2: Waves/Wings of Glass (WoG)
GW2: Face of Glass (FoG)
GW2: Glass Horizon (GH)
GW2: Horizon of Glass (HoG)
GW2: Tales of Glass Wings (ToGW)
and….
GW2: Dunes of Glass (DoG …get it, HoT DoG)

Yeah, a lot of those aren’t all that great.

Regardless, I’m now leaning toward expecting something “DoG”-based though. Because, ya know, HoT-DoG.

What could be made out of that? Any ideas?
GW2: Dreams of Glass (DoG)?

—This Is Not A Desire Post—
(just a note for those browsing for unfulfilled desires)

Hello again!

I have just returned to the forums after 7 months away and I am absolutely floored to see that the thread is still here and how much it has grown and been used in that time!

It truly was a wonderful and touching thing to read each post of the 5 1/2 pages of expressed and fulfilled desires added since I was last here. It was also very nice to see so many familiar names still active on the forums and in this thread.

I want to express my appreciation to each and every one of you for your kindness and assistance to others both inside and outside of this thread – your efforts to keep the thread respectable (and open) clearly shows it has had a real impact as the thread is still going and is used by many.

I also want to express my appreciation to Gaile and all of the forum moderators who have spent time and effort in relation to this thread. Despite the myriad issues and concerns that have come up relating to it, I thank you all for permitting it to continue for as long as it has. I also think I kind of need to apologize to you all for any trouble it has caused. If I do, then I most definitely do.

As for me, I’ve managed to again get some in-game time due to most family health concerns having passed for now. Once I clean up the huge mess I left my TP orders in, as well as take inventory (bad memory is bad), I will go back through these new pages and help with desires where I am able before going back to older ones. (As I am still without HoT, I regret that I cannot help with the many desires related to it. My apologies on that.) One thing I am happy to help with any time I am on is that I have also returned to helping provide ports in the Southsun JP and for anything needed within the Not So Secret Aetherblade JP. If anyone is need of assistance with those, just message me in-game.

Happy and safe adventuring, both in-game and out, to you all!
:)

edit: I’ve started re-writing the introductory post to make it more clear and concise, but character count is literally over 9,000 with the admin note additions (max is 5,000).
I’ll continue work to get it down to 5k with the admin notes untouched.

What is up with charged quartz?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

To be fair, time-gating charged crystals wasn’t necessary at all since you can barely harvest enough each day to make one (you get 10 crystals from the queen, 6 to 9 from regular nodes, and an extra 3 with a rare chance of getting 5 more from your home instance).

If you would not mind elaborating, which Queen would this be that gives you 10 quartz per day? The Queen, as in going and talking to Queen Jennah in her throne room?

That would be the rich node in Dry Top inside the Skritt Queen’s room.

Ah, that does explain it. Thank you very much.

OMG these maps

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

snip

Not sure if you realize but completing the map in Drytop (which isn’t that hard) will give you 100 geodes. If you do it on two characters you’re set. lol

Thank you very much for the tip, Vayne.

I think I had completed it long ago on my main LS character and had used those geodes to craft a different ambrite weapon that I made shortly after the map’s release. I’ll double-check to make sure I’ve earned those already on it. I did not think about possibly earning more in the same way with other characters. I guess I’ll try to see if I can get myself to map-complete it on another character instead of scraping a couple geodes together one event at a time over the course of months.

I was mostly using my lack of only a few geodes as an example to illustrate how much I do not like the area – even though I only need a few geodes to craft the weapon and free up the storage slots the items currently occupy, I end up finding myself staring at them and talking myself out of simply deleting/selling the items and then talk myself into spending 5 minutes in Dry Top getting a few of the last geodes I need. That is how much I dislike that map.

Again, thank you for the tip.

OMG these maps

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Silverwastes

  • Functionally:
    • I do like how the events in the Silverwastes are designed, mostly. I really need to get back over there to try for some more coat boxes to unlock the others that I am missing
  • Aesthetically
    • The map space between the forts seem to only function to artificially spread the forts out simply for the sake of distancing them from each other as a requirement of the purpose of the map – the events. This results in the enemies these areas contain simply being obstacles that attempt to hinder travel between the forts. Due to the event-driven nature of the map and how it requires as many players on the map as possible to take part in these events without any ‘sightseers’, I feel that they intentionally designed the map itself to be uninspired and lacking in atmosphere. I feel the reason for this was simply as a way to lessen the number of non-event related reasons to be on the map, so that the players that are on the map would likely be there to take part in the events and not off admiring the beauty of the landscape.
  • Basically, I feel that there are not too many reasons to be in or return to SW if you are not there for the ‘events>chest farm>events’ cycle and that this design is intentional.

Dry Top

  • I loathe everything about this place. I still need ~150 geodes to finish making the ambrite sword, but I struggle at bringing myself to even set foot in there for 5 minutes at a time to slowly whittle away at them.

HoT
I did not purchase HoT.
However, based on what I have read and seen of the map designs:

  • I would likely love the vertical nature of the maps
(and would likely be the only thing that I would like out of what HoT includes)
  • One aspect of them that I would not enjoy is the ridiculous mob density and their being designed to focus on CC spamming and discouraging solo-traveling that would keep me from adventuring and exploring the maps, let alone actually getting a few moments to enjoy the sights.
  • I would love to see more maps of a vertical nature, but in the style of the solo-friendly, exploration-encouraging and admiration of the sights-permitting design of the core maps. A logically-designed and intuitively-functional 3D mini-map would also be a good idea to spend resources implementing if they continue with creating some vertically-designed maps.

My thief

First time I’m almost 100% satisfied with an outfit. And it matches the scientific weapons rly well. Only problem I have is that the boots look a bit grayish atm >.<

Very nice. Looks like a mix of Magitech and Strider’s with a Glorious chest piece.

What is that back item/skin? Anyone know?

That back item appearance is not actually a back item; it is built into the shoulder skin on some genders of some species (the female human/sylvari/norn).

I often use those shoulders just for the appearance of the pseudo-back item instead of using an actual back item. I’d like more back items like this one, personally.

With Ali passing, perhaps they will consider re-introducing it as kind of a tribute to his boxing legacy. I would if I ran the store, but I do not, so I guess we will see.

Can I send something from Gem Store?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Gift it. There is a little present icon, if you want to buy it for a friend or guildie

In addition, if you want to gift an item that does not have a gift option (most account upgrades), you would instead need to send this person gold through in-game mail for them to then exchange for gems to purchase the item themselves. (or buy them a gem card with real money and give it to them for them to then purchase the item)

Best way to get ascended bakpack ?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Since I see someone wanted to ask the same thing as me I’ll go ahead and relate my story here.

I have no idea where did I hear about this but I was sure until recently you get and ascended back piece for map completion. Can someone confirm if that is true or just a misunderstanding on my part?

The wiki states these as the methods of acquisition for ascended back items:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_back_item

  • Crafted in the Mystic Forge using various recipes
  • Crafted from recipes learned from recipe sheets
  • Rewards from completing collections

No mention of acquisition via map completion, but several are awarded via collection completions.

Did you bought the new Travel toy?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

StinVec.3621

Do your swiftness skills affect these?

From what I have noticed, no. I think the travel toys all move at the same speed regardless of profession or movement speed traits/boons.

Actually, I believe the speed of the Ascender toy (and others) is actually faster than running on my engineer even with the movement speed increase trait active.

Did you bought the new Travel toy?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I got it but it would be better if it was setup in the wardrobe like the glider and they setup a hotkey to turn it on/off instead of taking over the weapons slots. It should automatically turn off during combat but overtaking the weapons slot is annoying. Honestly it’ll probably be like the flying carpet I bought. I’ll play with it a bit then shove it in my bank. Even the glider needs a hotkey because there is time when it gets in the way.

I bought it, but was sorely unimpressed with the(lack of) animation. It feels almost unfinished to me. Very wooden, almost like it started loading and then froze halfway through.

My feelings are essentially identical to those expressed in these two statements.

I was comfortable with the cost for what it offers, but I would not have purchased it if the price was more. I was glad to see that it wasn’t priced higher than previously offered travel toys simply because it is a new shiny with effects.

One dislike I have for all travel toys is that the newly offered ‘auto-reactivation’ skills are not reversed. I feel that the #2 skill that brings back your weapon skills should instead be the #1 skill. If I am approaching an enemy then I first need to hit #2 so I can then attack with my #1 ‘auto attack’ skill instead of simply pressing #1 twice quickly.

Sometimes I will kill an enemy and head over toward another enemy some distance away and just as I am about to attack it with my #1 AA skill…the toy ‘auto-reactivates’ and instead of attacking I end up completely disabling the toy. So after that fight I then need to manually reactivate it from inventory again. It’s quite annoying to me.

If the #1 and #2 were reversed then my repeatedly pressing my #1 skill to initiate an attack would first bring my weapon skills back for use, and the 2nd press would begin attacking.

As they are now, I need to consciously begin each fight with my #2 skill to bring up my weapon skills before I attack with my #1 skill. That and I need to instead begin successive fights my #2 weapon skill just in case the toy reactivates just before I begin attacking another enemy to avoid disabling the toy completely…which is not preferable to me for most weapons on most professions.

Maybe it’s just me that is annoyed by this design which interrupts my encounters with enemies and makes the item a nuisance that leads me to use the toy less and not be that interested in buying others. :\

Here are a few of my more recent characters.

Very impressive, even with a minimalist choice of color. Your characters always feel like they belong to the world of Tron-Legacy.

Thank you, Iris!
I tend to limit my characters to 1 base color of black or white and I then I like to have one primary theme color, like purple, that is of a vibrant hue. On some elements of pieces I will then incorporate the unused base color as a supporting accent to offset the base, as well as an additional, less-vibrant shade or two from the primary theme color’s spectrum. I follow this design on most of my characters, though most of my characters are sylvari so it works well due to having the additional elements of their skin, pattern and glow colors to incorporate into the overall appearance as well.

Activating this toy on my female asura wearing medium armor causes the equipped back item to float very far away from the torso.

  • I’m not sure if the issue happens on male asura or other armor weights.
  • This was not an issue with the back item on my female sylvari wearing light armor.
  • I did not yet try on norn, charr or human of either gender in any armor weight.

This image is an example of Mawdry floating away from the torso on my female asura wearing medium armor:

Selling Eternity question

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

If your Sunrise is bound and you use it in the crafting of an Eternity then the end product will not be bound and it can be sold.

If you also bind Twilight to unlock that skin, the end product Eternity will still be unbound and sellable.

However, unless you bind the Eternity, you will not have the Eternity skin.

Basically:

  • Sunrise is bound, skin is unlocked
  • Craft Twilight and bind it to unlock its skin and advance your legendary achievement (though using it in the forge to make Eternity automatically unlocks Twilight’s skin, it will not advance your legendary collector achievement and it must be equipped to do that)
  • Then you can use both the bound Sunrise and bound Twilight to make a sellable Eternity. However, to unlock Eternity’s skin you must bind it to your account instead of selling it.

What WEIRD stuff do YOU do in-game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I do many of the things mentioned so far. It is interesting to see that others do as well.

I like to make an exit
One thing I do that I do not notice others doing is that I try to make a flashy departure by using a skill when I disappear from others’ screens due to my waypointing/logging:

  • Mesmer – Usually hit greatsword #3 (mind stab) right on my feet and log as the ‘spiky-things’ shoot upward around me.
  • Ranger – Usually hit my Strength of the Pack elite and log right when the wispy fire stuff or whatever swirls around and hits me like I’m a Highlander experiencing The Quickening. That or I use the Entangle elite and log right when I impact the ground when vines and smoke burst up.
  • Warrior – I think I normally hit the Signet of Rage elite. I think that is the one where you stick your arms out and some burst effect happens or something.
  • Necro – I normally hit Spectral Walk and log right when I turn to transparent green mist-form as if I phased out of existence.
  • Ele – I used to hit an aura shield skill to make it seems as though I exploded into particles of that element…but you know…aura nerf, so no more of that. Now I sometimes simply drop a Fiery Greatsword on myself as I log.
  • Engi – I Sometimes drop the elite supply crate on myself and log on impact, other times a random elixir and log at the end of the consume animation.
  • Guardian – Do not play it
  • Thief – Do not play it often
  • Revenant – Do not own it

This is probably something I do because of the ‘teleport home’ skill we had some years ago when I played Rift. You could teleport back to the main city using a skill, but it would take like 10 seconds to cast it (and an hour cooldown or something) and the skill effect was a swirly vortex that you’d disappear into at the end of the cast. I always liked seeing someone cast a spell and then disappear or materialize slowly when they log in instead of people just disappearing from existence or materializing out of nowhere, which is pretty immersion-breaking to me. After defeating a boss there would be a huge number of vortices dwindling down to none where it was kind of a mini-game to see if you’d be the last to port out. Here we have an instantaneous mass disappearance of a huge number of people. Not really a big deal, I know, but I notice it and I do not particularly like it, so I do what I do.

Socks.

  • Ankle socks, specifically
  • Both the original GW2 dragon logo (orange) and the HoT logo (green) and not at the same time on the same sock
  • Preferably a graphic of a size larger than a coin
  • Also consider a new version of the graphic that extends down the side/top of the sock to the toes, or has a ‘flames’(orange/GW2) or ‘roots’ (green/HoT) graphic coming up from underneath the sock to encase/hold the logo on the top

(I noted ankle socks on the survey, but I placed more details above after I thought about it a bit more)

Auric Basin Loot "Exploit" [merged]

they are aware of it now.

Gaile closed this bug/exploit report thread on this over in the bug forums:

But she stated that:
“This topic is addressed in a merged thread in the HoT Sub-forum.”
And linked to this thread.

I’ve been reading this thread and I do not see any kind of message from ArenaNet on the subject, let alone one that addresses it.

Did I miss a red post in this thread some place, or maybe a link to ANet’s having addressed this over on Reddit?

Push to Walk

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

There is a way via AutoHotKey, though I’m not sure if it would violate the ‘1 key press=1 action’ rule.

Basically, you can make it so pushing down your walk key will enable walking mode, and then when you release the walk key it’ll auto-send that key again upon release to toggle it back to running.

Essentially, you are sending that key action upon depressing the key, and then sending it again upon releasing the key, thus making it a ‘only-walk-while-holding’ function.

I’m not too sure if having an ‘on-release’ key action in addition to the ‘on-press’ action would violate the rules.

If others do not think that this would violate the rules, I can work up the ahk script for you if you mention what key you use to toggle walking currently.

Chaos gloves dye channel not working

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

That is a surprise to me. I thought running the repair would certainly fix it as I cannot see it being related to any graphic settings, either in-game or out-of-game in your Intel settings, due to your being able to see the glow on others’ gloves.

I suppose a game reinstall could be an option, but I personally doubt that it will result in fixing the issue. You may want to first check into reinstalling/updating your graphics drivers.

I believe your laptop is running the Intel HD Graphics 4000.
If that is what your GPU is (how to find out):

Or you could run their Auto-Detect Driver Update Utility instead to get the latest driver version for your system.

I would recommend doing this before considering a game reinstallation, personally.

Chaos gloves dye channel not working

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

That is interesting. My guess would be that it may be a damaged or corrupted game file causing it to not dye on your screen. This could be why you are able to see others’ dyed gloves, and not your own – the rendering of your character and other characters are different, so something with your character rendering may be damaged.

If you have not done it yet, you might want to consider running a repair cycle on your client to fix this if it is related to a damaged or corrupted game file causing it. You can do this with the “-repair” command line argument.

If you need a hand adding that and running a repair:

  • Close your game/launcher completely
  • Right-click your game shortcut and select ‘Properties’
  • On the ‘Shortcut’ tab, the first line says “Target:”
  • Immediately after the end quotation mark in this field put a space and then add -repair
It will look like this (but with your installation location):
    “F:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair
Or if you are using the 64-bit client: “F:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe” -repair
  • Again, make sure there is a space between the " and -repair
  • Hit OK to save the change and close the Properties
  • Run the shortcut and it’ll repair the game files if any are damaged.
  • After the repair is finished, close the launcher, remove the -repair argument (including the space) that you added and run the game as normal to see if it’s fixed.

(It is likely that the repair will dip into the ‘not responding’ state often, but it should finish properly after a few minutes. However, I have personally had a repair take up to 15 and even 30 minutes to finish, as well as needing to close and retry the repair due to it failing the first time.)

As you can see dyed chaos gloves on others, and others can see your dyed chaos gloves, but you cannot see your own gloves dyed, that does rule out a whole lot of possible causes so there doesn’t seem to be very many possible causes left.

Can you try to:

  • Use the Dye Remover tool on all slots of the gloves and apply the changes
  • Close the Hero panel
  • Open the hero Panel back up and re-dye the slots to your liking
  • Apply the changes and see if you are able to see your own gloves dyed properly
  • If they do not appear dyed to you, try to toggle your gloves off and then on, or unequip>re-equip to see if that makes any difference

Q: Exchange rate trending up.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I saw in another thread where someone stated that it could be related to WvW having a ‘more fun’ map again. In addition to having an influx of returning players because of this map returning, it could be related to the cost of server switching fees where entire guilds are also swapping servers. Due to this potential mass-server switching, guild gold may be getting funneled to players to exchange for gems to pay for their transfers.

If this has at least something to do with it, then the steadily increasing exchange rate could be related to the gold-sent-via-mail and guild vault gold withdrawal limitations. Perhaps the transfers are only able to be paid for over the course of several weeks instead of all at once, thus keeping the exchange steadily increasing.

Personally, I feel that this could be a likely cause of the current exchange rate, at least in part.
