armor mouseover text wrong

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Indeed, I’ve never seen that profession-specific text on armor – it has always just said the ‘Armor class unusable by your profession’ line.

I agree, that does seem to indicate some upcoming change, likely with HoT release, which has to do with profession-specific armor due to it listing professions on the item.

Very strange that it is also listing the incorrect professions as you have noted.

Again, very strange.

All sounds coming from right headphone?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

It sounds like your audio card is configured for surround sound output, but the speakers are not set up for surround sound.

You likely need to go to your control panel and open your audio and configure it to use “Stereo” for audio to be sent to your headphones properly.

Alternatively, if you are using the Logitech software configuration program (icon in your start bar), open it up and disable ‘Dolby Surround Sound’ and instead configure it to use stereo, or at least tweak the surround sound configuration so it outputs the proper sound channels to your headphone speakers.

Legendary Armor info?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

So far I think there is just the armors that were datamined by that_shaman which shows the armors in different stages. I don’t know if those are even the legendary armors for certain, but it seems logical that they are due to their different stages of appearance.

Complementary to a ranger?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I agree that it would be best for you both to have the same style of play – both ranged or both melee. Otherwise, if your brother (the ranger) goes longbow or shortbow, they are bound to kill the enemy with auto-attack before you could even get in close enough with your melee to inflict a single hit for credit.

As an alternative to both running LB or SB rangers, as your brother is going ranger, perhaps you can go Mesmer with a greatsword for a ranged weapon. Having clones could help your brother’s pet with the aggro from any enemies you may encounter that are too tough for the pair of you.

If you both decide you want to go melee, Mesmer with dual swords is fun if your ranger brother goes with axe/sword or greatsword.

Razor vs Logitech mice, I need some opinions

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

[…]

I’ve been a Razor Naga user for many years, the last one I bought -the Naga Epic- was purchased over 3 years ago. It has so far held up against WoW wear & tear until this past spring when I quit WoW and it has been handling GW2. It’s no longer “Epic” -can’t become wireless anymore- but that isn’t the fault of the product. That blame falls on me for leaving it within reach of a greyhound “puppy” (she was 2) and her gnawing on it. It’s failing at a faster rate now than I would like, but again, it is due to damage it took last year.

I wasn’t really wanting to purchase a Naga Epic Chewtoy again, even tho I do love how it fits my hand. How is the size of the Red Dragon in comparison to the Naga? I’m female, btw. My fingers are as long as my husband’s, but my hand is not as wide as his.

It is slightly wider and perhaps slightly longer. The casing seems to have a bit more bulk to it than the Naga. I love the feel of the Naga’s sleek shape and frame, but I got used to the Perdition’s slightly more bulky feel quickly. I am male, though, but I have very feminine ‘pianist/violinist’ hands.

I’ll take a pic of them side-by-side shortly and edit my post to include it.

EDIT:
Pics included. Sorry, they are pretty low-quality pics as I used an old phone.

Razor vs Logitech mice, I need some opinions

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I’ve tried several different kinds of gaming mice, and I must strongly urge you to stay as far away from Razer mice as possible. They had been really good over a decade ago. However, they seem to have gone the route of jacking their prices really high and lowering the quality of the their construction to bare minimum. The internal components are actually designed to wear down unnaturally fast. In games that are click-heavy, such as GW2 and other MMORPGs, this designed failure point is reached much sooner than with other types of games.

After checking out and testing many different gaming mice, I decided to go with the:

  • Red Dragon Perdition

I do not see me using another mouse for a very, very long time to come. I do not even need to worry about picking up a back up in case it fails (like I had to with Razer mice) as it is a very high quality and durable mouse that is designed to last, not to wear out within a certain time frame (again, like Razer mice).

It also does not require any software to be running for all of the lighting and keys on the mouse to function, like Razer with its Synapse software which could consume over 100MB of memory. Your settings, sensitivity profiles and everything else is stored inside of the mouse. Even if you do want its software configuration utility running to make quick adjustments to sensitivity profiles or tweak the pulsating light speeds or colors, it will only take up about 700KB of memory.

I highly recommend it.

Cost: $36-39 USD and both have free shipping.

Also, this “UtechSmart Venus 50” mouse looks almost identical (but offers more colors) and costs about the same amount. I cannot comment on the durability of this mouse due to my not owning it, but reviews around the net seem good.

Cost: $39-41 USD and both have free shipping.

Do you mean for use in a different game mode? sPvP, WvW, iPvE (instances-dungeons/fractals)

Full stack of luck, any tricks?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Like Narrrz, I use AutoHotKey to rebind scroll down to function as a single mouse left click to eat them quickly.

This is the script that I use for this behavior:

  • Download and install AutoHotKey.
It is a program that is useful for making individual scripts to make custom keybinds. You can even have different scripts with different keybinds for your different characters.
  • Create a text file (myfilename.txt) and add this text into it and then save it:

#NoEnv
#SingleInstance Force
SetTitleMatchMode, 3
#IfWinActive, Guild Wars 2

; “MButton” is the customizable key used to toggle normal scroll wheel function on and off

MButton::Suspend
WheelDown::Click left

  • Rename the .txt extension on it to instead be .ahk
  • Double-click/execute this script prior to or during a GW2 game session to bind wheel-down (pulling toward you) as being left-mouse-click. It will only affect the mouse wheel while GW2 is the active window (so mouse wheel still works fine outside of the game even with it running and active)
  • Clicking your mouse scroll wheel in suspends/disables the script so you can zoom in/out and scroll as normal. Click the mouse wheel in again to reactivate it.

So:

  • Executing the script binds mouse wheel down to function as left click only in GW2
  • Mouse scroll wheel click toggles disabling the script so it scrolls normally again or enabling it so scroll down functions as a left click

You can also customize the activation/deactivation (suspend) key. You can find all of the different key names you can use to replace Mouse scroll click here:

I also highly recommend Endless Soul’s suggestion to acquire artificer so you can promote and consolidate all of your lesser lucks into fewer stacks.

2 hours since this was posted and no deletion and infraction? I am impressed, mods must have gone soft O.o

Anyway, autohotkey is a great tool for things like this yes. You dont even need all that, just rebind left mouse to a key. When you hold down that key, it will chew through the stack like theres no tomorrow. Works for mf and bags. Great for avoiding to break your mouse. If Anet cant fix the problem with simple UI changes and QoL improvements, I guess we have to do it ourselves.

I have posted this option for eating stacks of consumables over a dozen times over the years and even in threads with devs conversing, as well as offering other AHK rebind scripts. There is nothing ‘illegal’ about it and it is a simple key rebinding script, so why would there be any kind of infraction or deletion? … And, yes, you can change the key that is rebound to a letter key instead of scroll down – I simply offered the framework with an example, users can customize it however they like to fit their preference…

BW3 Difficulty Nerf [merged]

Posted by: StinVec.3621

Mate i agree with you, but do you have to make a kittening dramatic title like that, that just makes it way less likely the devs will take you seriously.

Be constructive, you have good points but they disappear under the kitten drama of that title.

How is the thread title of “Huge Step Backwards this BWE” overly dramatic and nonconstructive? I find the thread title to be an appropriate lead-in to the constructive feedback that the thread relates.

I actually find your response to be the only dramatic and nonconstructive thing in this thread.

Thank you, OP, for your thoughts on BWE3 and how it is different from BWE2. I am not taking part in the betas, but I am following the feedback of beta testers to get a feeling for what to expect come release.

Headaches: lighting?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Light Adaptation, Ambient Occlusion, and the other new AA graphics options were not implemented for the first BWE and stress tests, but were for the previous BWE2 and this BWE3.

As you did not experience this problem in VB during the first BWE, and only in VB during BWE2 and 3, it is possible that one or both of these graphics options is the cause for the lighting in Verdant Brink to appear differently and painfully for you now.

Try to disable Light Adaptation and/or Ambient Occlusion and see if it helps.

Bottom right is the only other non-kit face I’d ever consider using (has a lot of glowing surface to it).

My preference for a kit face is the ‘alien’.

Armor Dying Assistance Needed

The names for each dye are next to the dye slots in the first pic. The greens probably blend in with the equipment icons on the left for the color slots on that side.

Sorry if I’m not that great at earth-tone nature colors – I don’t really have any rangers (or non-rangers) that are “woodsman” or that have an earth-tone nature style or color palette.

I spend hours sitting at the bank in the wardrobe tab previewing different armor pieces together for a look to assemble on a new or existing character.

EDIT:
Sorry, just realized I completely missed naming a dye in the lower right slot of the gloves. I don’t remember which one it was, but as the gloves are not the ones you are using, it probably doesn’t matter much.

Armor Dying Assistance Needed

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

This style is for a girl that grew up in a Queensdale community that was primarily composed of loggers. As there were plenty of loggers to cover that task, she opted to learn leatherworking. She spent her formative years training hard with her pet to hone her and its skills to combat and acquire the hides from wild animals in the area.

She made quite a good living outfitting the loggers with thick leather armor to protect them from the wild boar and other animals that had become abnormally aggressive over the years, while also thinning the populations of those same hazardous animals which she would use to craft more armor.

As most of her gear was for practical use, it was commonly devoid of colors that would attract the attention of animals, especially the giant wasps that are fond of attacking colorful objects, and which also allowed loggers to blend in more easily with their surroundings so as to go unnoticed by and avoid such hazards.

With the loggers of her community stocked with gear for years to come, and the wild animal population thinned to less hazardous levels, she and her childhood pet have now moved on to seek out other communities that may be in need of her skills.

There is no telling what challenges and dangers lay on the road that is before her and her companion, but they both have the skills and determination to face them for the sake of helping others and emerge triumphant. Besides, who doesn’t like a bit of adventure with your best friend at your side?

I do not have the Mist Walker gloves unlocked, and you cannot assign dyes properly in a preview window that I would need to use in order to view the gear with those gloves, so I selected glove armor that has a similar, asymmetrical style.

I also added a helm that I like to use for some of my adventurous rangers, though normally I only use the goggle portion without the lower face cover.

i can't connect to 2 of my characters

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

It is possible that there is a damaged file in your game archive that is preventing the characters from loading. If there is a damaged file, it can be fixed by running a repair on the client.

The first thing I would recommend doing is to run this repair cycle on your client to see if it fixes the issue.

If you need a hand doing that:
Check the game for errors and repair it

  • Close your game/launcher
  • Right-click your game shortcut and select ‘Properties’
  • On the ‘Shortcut’ tab, the first line says “Target:”, immediately after the end quotation marks in this field, put a space and then add -repair
It will look like this (but with your installation location):
    “F:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair
  • Make sure there is a space between the " and -repair
  • Run the shortcut and it’ll repair the game files if any are damaged.
  • After the repair is finished, close the launcher, remove the -repair argument you added and run the game as normal to see if it’s fixed.

(it is likely that the repair will dip into the ‘not responding’ state often, but it should finish properly after a few minutes or so)

Newbie question Ranger pet for solo leveling

in Ranger

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Very good advice posted above. I agree with a lot of it.

I am a solo player that mostly plays rangers as I roam around the open world taking it easy and doing whatever (even going for a walk in the woods for a few hours, literally). I personally find myself using the Arctodus much of the time. It can also be used underwater as well as on land and is classified as a ‘bear’ pet.

You can acquire it in a cave in Wayfarer Foothills (Norn starter zone) in the side of the mountain wall, as well as in other areas.

Here is more detailed information on ranger pets if you want to dig into the details on all of them and where to find them all.

Crafting station UI glitch after update

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I’ve seen patches cause graphical problems for select players in the past, but I was never included in those experiencing them. I and another player had to run a repair on our games to fix the graphical issues we were experiencing after today’s patches.

It is usually just a damaged file in the archive that can be fixed by running a repair on the client. I recommend running one on your client to see if it fixes the issue.

If you need a hand doing that:

  • Close your game/launcher
  • Right-click your game shortcut and select ‘Properties’
  • On the ‘Shortcut’ tab, the first line says “Target:”, immediately after the end quotation marks in this field, put a space and then add -repair

  • Run the shortcut and it’ll repair the game files if any are damaged.
  • After the repair is finished, close the launcher, remove the -repair argument you added and run the game as normal to see if it’s fixed.

Apparently it is also likely that the repair will dip into the ‘not responding’ state often, but it should finish properly after a few minutes or so.

NEW PETS!!!

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

The new pets do not require that you have the druid elite specialization.
They will require that you find and tame them (outside of PvP).

The pets can be found on new jungle maps, so you’ll need to have Heart of Thorns to gain access to those new companions.

I hope that clarifies some of the confusion!

Thank you very much, Irenio, for taking the time to pop in here and supply detailed answers to my inquiry! I thoroughly enjoyed the druid reveal. You and Rubi did a great job presenting it and I look forward to romping about with it when HoT releases.

@Gaile
And thank you as well, Gaile, for inquiring on the exact details. I love ranger as well (I have 7 right now and will look to make several more after HoT’s release). I did not want to make any assumptions or misinterpret the information they shared on the new pets. I was immediately imagining wyverns flapping about in our existing, beloved areas and I did not want to get my hopes set on seeing that if it was just my misunderstanding. Thank you for all of your help with this and everything else!

My character’s mouth gets frozen wide open now after the patch. Seems there are some funky things going on.

I’m going to run a -repair on my game to see if it helps. I recommend you do the same and see if it helps you.

If you need a hand doing that:

  • Close your game/launcher
  • Right-click your game shortcut and select ‘Properties’
  • On the ‘Shortcut’ tab, the first line says “Target:”, immediately after the end quotation marks in this field, put a space and then add -repair

Is todays patch supposed to be this big?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

For those wondering, my patch size was 396MB.

Just mentioning it for those that come to the thread looking to find how big they can expect the patch to be in megabytes.

Gaile! please please pleaseeeee tell me you guys will bring back the halloween minis, specifically spooky ghost! I couldnt play the halloween of his release, and i want it sooo badly. >.<

It looks like the spooky ghost will be back in the gem store. The datamine of today’s patch shows the Halloween mini pack returning to the gem store.

“A miniature spooky ghost, spooky skeleton, and spooky spider come together in this limited-edition collector’s pack.”

Profane light legs: Which dye for black?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Shadow Abyss is the darkest you can really get. And even with Shadow Abyss it results in just a slightly darker grey than the ones you have already tested. It’s how they made the legs themselves that prevent colors from being as dark or rich as they should be. It has been like that for over 3 years, so I do not expect it will ever be changed to dye properly, sadly.

Try typing in the search bar, I am Evon Gnashblade

See if that works for you. (Type it again to turn it off).

I believe they are referring to their gem store purchase activity, not the trading post transaction history for purchased items on the trading post.

Gem store purchase activity only shows the last 8-12 gem purchases or so. Any older purchases drop off and cannot be viewed on the gem store main page.

[Build] "MAD-SEED DRUID" - a selfish druid

in Ranger

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Happy for y’all that y’all have a good build for PVP.

What makes you think it won’t be fun/effective in PvE?

Because of the fact you said

“This is gonna be a kiting immobilize/cripple/bleed machine”

Where in the tyria am I gonna need that???

Oh and your using a shortbow.
Again – anyone who uses a ranger shortbow in PvE is just trolling ….

I quite enjoy using shortbow in OWPvE. Always have. I think it’s very fun and useful for different encounters in the open world.

Do you actually mean to specify iPvE (instanced PvE) with your generalized “PvE” statement?

If so, using “PvE” in your comment includes all forms of PvE, instanced as well as open world. If you mean specifically that it is “trolling” to use it in instances, it would be good to say that specifically instead of using a general “PvE” for your remark.

music during the mossman fight?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Have you had any luck finding the track by listening to them on youtube yet?

That last track I linked does play in that video you linked above. If you are not going by what is playing in that video and are instead going by memory and experience of what the music is for you during the encounter, perhaps the music for the encounter has a pool of tracks that play and maybe the music that is heard during the encounter can be different each time. My analyzing that video to pinpoint the tracks would be a pointless endeavor then as the tracks in that video may not be the same as what you hear during the encounter.

Basically, I don’t know what else I can do to help further as that track does play in the video, so I consider the music in that video as identified. That must mean that the music in that video is not the music you personally hear during the encounter and are looking to get identified. I can only recommend to record only the music during your next time in that encounter to get the exact music you want identified or go through the soundtrack that is fully available on youtube to identify the track you are looking for.

I’m sorry I couldn’t help identify the music that you were looking to get identified. I do not play fractals so I have never personally taken part in this Mossman encounter to hear the music that plays during it.

I wish you luck in your search or if someone else steps in to offer more assistance to you.

There currently is not a way for us to see our entire gem store purchase history.

I suppose one could possibly contact support and make a request for them to supply a purchase history, but there is no guarantee that they can or will do such a thing. It is worth a shot though.

Here’s the support site to submit a request to support:

music during the mossman fight?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I think I’ve got it now:

GW2 Soundtrack – Track 54 (Disk 3, Track 12) – “Caithe’s Daggers”

I’m pretty certain that this is the track as several of the trumpet parts match.
Caithe’s Daggers is only 3:04 long, so again, it is possible that there may be a different track at the start and/or finish, or that it repeats during the encounter.

Do you think this is the correct one this time?

music during the mossman fight?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Ok. I managed to work on this right away while I waited for another project to finish up in the background instead of digging into it afterward.

I’ve only listened to the first half of the video, but I think it is “March of the Legions”.
As that track is only 2:44 long, and the video as well as the fight last much longer than that, I am not sure if it simply repeats or if it goes into a different track. I’ll check out the second half of the video to see if it starts a different track.
(edit: it appears to simply repeat, so it seems this is the only track played during the fight, or at least during the fight in that video)

GW2 Soundtrack – Track 74 (Disk 4, Track 14) – “March of the Legions”

Do you believe this to be the correct track?

Fantastic. I can hear enough of it to pinpoint which one it is. I’ll go through the soundtrack in an hour or two and find which one it is if someone else has not already determined which song it is. I’ll be back.

music during the mossman fight?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I tried finding a video online of someone that recorded the fight who also had the game music playing to see if I could catch a touch of the music to determine what song it is. I couldn’t find a single one. Everyone seems to think they have to play music over their videos to make them entertaining.

Can you find or post a video online that has the music playing during the fight so we can hear what it sounds like so which song it is can be determined?

Otherwise, I would recommend going through the GW2 soundtrack (many of which are on youtube) and give the various tracks a brief listen to see if you can find which one it is.

Krytan Armor

StinVec.3621

You guys are awesome. Great catch StinVec. Thank you all.

Happy to help, Rash.

When the armor does become available in the store again, if you find that you cannot afford it or if it is only back temporarily and you cannot log in while it is available to get it, consider sharing your desire for the item in this thread. There are many generous and helpful players and I am sure they can help fulfill your desire for the item.

Happy adventuring in style!

You might even see it this Tuesday. They are wiping out a lot of currently sold items to make room for other things — and it is now the fall. So check on Tuesday before you do any upgrades.

I’m really looking forward to upcoming additions, namely the dragonfly wings (see attachment).

I really hope that they will be coming as soon as this Tuesday and added in with the returning items (as you mentioned that it is Fall now) and we will not need to wait until HoT releases to see them become available.

If it is not something you absolutely must have immediately, as they had stated that it would be returning for Fall, if you can wait for a few weeks, or even until the release of Heart of Thorns, you will likely see it available in the gem store again.

Nike, this build, as well as the others discussed within the thread, has given me a good sense of the non-group-healing-focused possibilities for the druid.

Thank you for putting the time and effort into configuring such builds. It is reassuring to see that there are several options for OWPvE solo players to use druid in an enjoyable and effective manner.

I will certainly continue keeping an eye on this and other druid build threads.
