What is the point of having these threads?
When was the last time ANet changed the cash shop because they feel the cash shop item was too unfair?
I can only really think of one other time in regards to an item being “unfair”; Silver-fed Salvage-o-Matic. It was changed from 1 silver per use to something like 60 copper per use.
However, it wasn’t so much that it was “unfair”, but because ‘the community’ pointed out to them how …eh… improperly its cost per use was configured at release when compared to other available and comparable items.
No idea why it retained the “Silver-fed” name, considering it is not fed silver any longer. The “-fed” part of the name should have been removed from both the copper and silver items so the names would instead reflect the quality/stats of the salvage tool and not what it costs to use.

A finishing touch for my new guy a couple of posts up: A dinky little beat up backpack for his first ever travel from home longer than a day trip without a delivery cart.
I love the low level crafted back packs. What’s this guy wearing?
I think that’s the Tailoring T1 backpack. Sorry, not in-game at the moment to verify.
Sorry, I meant the clothes. Posting while working leads to corner cutting unfortunately.
Ah, gotcha. She mentioned all of the clothing pieces in the referenced post a few posts up from that one.

I believe http://www.tyria3d.com has the old Lion’s Arch maps available for flying through. Should be of use to you.
I’ll see if I can dig up an image of the old map that has the location names displayed on it.
Heya, ZBoss. Happy birthday!
If you’d like to see if a player may be able to help out where ANet is unable to, you may want to consider making a post in the I’d really like this… [Gifting Strangers] thread to see if one or more players may look to gift you some or all of the 15 Deldrimor Steel Ingots (and/or other components) that you need to craft the hilt item that you desired to craft.
If you do decide to make a post there, please be sure to include if you are playing on NA or EU servers. Also be sure to please keep a running count of what is still needed by editing your post to reflect being gifted some/all of the desired items. This way gifters can direct gifts to other posted desires if yours becomes fulfilled.
Sort of like:
Have/Need
If you do make a post there, I hope you see your desire fulfilled by other generous players! Again, happy birthday.
We need a snowflake eater.
Not something like Mawdrey II or Princess.
No, it has to be an especially gluttonous skritt that shouts: “Ice cream headache!!!” everytime someone feeds him snowflakes.
He will give nothing in return except for the schadenfreude.
He needs to be right next to the bank in LA of course, for maximum exposure.
I’d enjoy a cute skritt munching a bunch of snow in a container that players add to. It then goes “Ahhh! Braiiiin Freeeeezzze…phew, all better.” every 5-10ish seconds, ad infinitum.
I bought the set of 5 and put my permanent bank access, copper fed, and 3 permanent harvesting tools in it. Now each of my chars has access to my bank no matter where they are, a copper fed salvage kit of their very own and (If I remember to switch out the tools) they have a set of permanent tools.
I thought it was well worth it for a convenience item and only wished to have another one for my Royal Terrace pass. I never thought we could get this much, certainly not a whole set of 20.
Ty ANet.
Do the gathering tools work from there or do you need to move them into their slots first?
They must be equipped to a character first. It is likely easiest to have 3 generic tools in those slots and then to remember to double-click each of them to equip/unequip the set before logout/adventuring on a character that is/was using them.
(edited by StinVec.3621)
I completely agree with this request.
Was waiting for permanent Captain’s Airship Pass to go on sale again, so I had 1k gems set aside. 700 for this slot for my existing pass has saved me 300 gems.
I feel they are:

Are there any jumping puzzles where gliding would help? (or are they all upwards jumps?)
The only one that I can think of is the griffon one with the bomb. I think it was in Timberline. The rest don’t really start you off at a high elevation. It may also make some of the diving goggle jumps easier assuming it doesn’t cancel out the transformation. Easy way to check is to do the one in TD.
It’ll also make getting the more annoying gold coins in the SW jumping puzzle easier. The diving goggle port at the end takes you well above the cavern with the ship at the start which will let you glide to where most of the difficult ones are.
Silverwing, this post in another thread looks at what JPs could be affected by gliding due to not being completely vertical in design:
May want to check their detailed post out and see if others are also mentioned in that thread.
Last night I got Frostfang done (after 3 years) and before equipping it, I made sure to check the wiki and in-game info (pop-up windows, etc) thinking the effect of the legendary would still be visible (footsteps) while using my main weapon (Greatsword).
I was heart-broken to see that’s not the case (but I had seen it on other people at some time – so I obviously thought it was the right idea since you still have it equipped on the second slot). Now I’m stuck with a weapon I barely actually use that cost me a lot of work and gold.
Support can’t do anything, but told me to try the forums.
Unfortunately, a legendary weapon must be the active weaponset for its non-weapon character effects to be apparent.
Also, the effects are tied to the skin and not also to the item itself. So even if you have a legendary weapon equipped as your active weaponset, if you reskinned it to another skin, the footfall/glow effects are not apparent.
It’s a shame too. I was hoping to be able to craft Frostfang and reskin it to its precursor appearance (which I like much more) and still have the footfall effects. But as the effects are tied to the Frostfang skin and not to the legendary item itself, footfall effects with precursor skin appearance is not possible.
Basically, we’re locked into having to keep the legendary skin it comes with and also having it as our active weaponset for the footfall/glow effects to be apparent on our character. I find this quite disappointing, which is why I haven’t gone for Frostfang or any other legendary as I desire the footfall effects, but am disappointed in the appearances of the legendary weapon skins themselves. :\
(edited by StinVec.3621)
I’m not exactly sure what you want here. You spent 3 years creating a weapon and now you’re heartbroken because you don’t get the foot falls? Maybe it’s just the way I think but I can’t imagine selling something I worked 3 years for.
Um…I don’t see anything in the OP that mentions selling it.
Also, the quickest way to directly wiki an armor skin to see how to acquire it is to:
Sending this “/wiki [Linked Skin Name]” will automatically open the GW2 wiki and show results for that skin. Selecting the item displayed in the search results that possesses that skin will show you the item information page, which includes acquisition methods.
So, over then next three months should we expect eleven new I-can’t-change-anything-but-the-color &$@ing outfits and ZERO armor sets?
‘Cause its getting real old the way you are frittering away the Character Art team’s time.
I am still telling myself that the reason outfits are the only things being released (supposedly easier and quicker to make), as well as the massive lack of armors offered with HoT or added anywhere to the game, is because almost everyone that works on armors has been real busy for a year or two with making Tengu cultural armors, Tengu NPC armors and tweaking and customizing every existing armor in the game to fit and work on player Tengu.
Then again, I am also hoping that they are bringing gliding to core Tyria primarily because they will be opening the Dominion of Winds for players, which would be designed vertically so as to have the ‘racial city’ and starter zone in a single map which uses the gliding mechanics and updrafts and whatnot. Of course, this would mean Tengu playable characters would be added in as an account unlock via gem store that requires HoT to be owned instead of needing to wait an even more absurd amount of time for when another ‘expansion’ or two gets released before we get them (or another playable species). Haven’t thought out all of the potential ways this could all be designed and work properly, or how having gliding mastery as a prerequisite for making a Tengu would work, but it’s just something I still hold out hope for seeing.
I’m looking forward to the return of Chinese New Year’s celebration.
I’m dreading some new stupid omega-grind where we have to eat 25,000 barbeque pork buns in 2 weeks to get a new ‘fireworks effects’ shoulders…
I’m pretty concerned that there may be something just like this for this event as well.
Will be quite disappointed if there is.
Ranger
“In the future, we’ll continue to explore ways to improve on the ranger’s ties to both their pets and nature.”I can only hold to hope that this means they actually consider finally offering the option of severing the ranger’s ties to their pets, and instead offering a more nature-oriented playstyle.
Other than pet AI actually being fixed, offering a wide range of skins for the various species, as well as making a larger selection of species able to be tamed, that is really the only change to the ranger that I desire as I consider that option as being an immense improvement to the current ranger > pet/nature relationship.
I don’t think pets should be nixed, I think the pet system needs to be adjusted. Pets have abilities that make no sense, or don’t make use of the pets’ specific stat spreads (like condition inflicting abilities, with like…400 condi dmg stat), the A.I., etc.
I do agree that some more skins should be available, if not different species (like when they added the reef drake). Some minor things like retaining names (PLS) and making pets like the black wolf not look like it is made of a plastic tarp would also be appreciated.
To reiterate, I do not desire for pets to be nixed, I desire for there to be an option to play ranger in a way where it is not forced to use a pet.

Eat it.
Your correct and very succinct response to the issue has caused this to run through my head.
(edited by StinVec.3621)
Not sure why these Collections are more special than map completions to warrant the drop rate increasing only now.
One does not need to enter the lab to complete the map though. Players only need to walk up near its closed door to ‘discover’ the POI. Nothing inside is related to map completion.
I agree with the OP’s request.
I’ve not gotten one of these crystals in almost 2 years, in which time I’ve leveled about 15+ characters. If I didn’t happen to find a bugged instance of the map the other day with the event stalled inside so the place was free to roam about in, I’d likely never have stepped foot inside the place again due to never getting those crystals.
(edited by StinVec.3621)
I was just playing about an hour ago and my map instance had Oola’s lab open, but the group you protect was stalled out and was just standing there after the first main hall. The whole complex was open for free roaming and players could just waltz through to the end and loot the chest or do whatever else they wanted to do in there.
This ‘event’ actually bugs out like this a lot, so may want to keep an alt parked at the main gate for it and check it now and then to see if it is open and bugged or open and working properly and progressing so you can run in and get what you need.
Stubtoe Shatterclaw
Armor/Dye/Weapon details are also in the graphic.
Apparently it’s due to a bug/oversight where they are hidden upon glider use, but not re-enabled upon reaching solid ground. Many have reported it in the bugs sub-forum over the months. I can think of a few ways to go about fixing the issue, but time will tell if it gets addressed in any fashion. Who knows how far down their list it is.
An option to right-click a buff and click ‘Remove’ has been requested several times over the years, primarily to counter this exact method of trolling. Those threads never garnered a response and no option has been implemented. Sadly, we’re unlikely to ever get such an option.

The bug fix update before this one (Dec 21) alerted me on screen that a new build was available and that my game would restart in 1 hour. 30 seconds later my chat box said a new build was available and that my game would restart in 5 minutes.
(thinking about it more accurately, it may have actually said 1hr on-screen, but then 10 seconds later it said 4 minutes 50 seconds until restart)
I didn’t take a screenshot of that one, but here is a screenshot of another recent update where the message on the screen and printed in the chat box says 1 hour. But 5 seconds later it sends an auto-restart notification of 2hrs 45min to the chat box.
Really should get this fixed. I’ve not experienced and consistency between the time noted in the message on the screen and when the game actually auto-boots me to patch.

it sounds like the best odds are to get the JP chests though?
If you need a hand with getting through those JPs for the grubby packages in their end chests, I’d be happy to port you to the end chest for them. And for those that I cannot port directly to the end, I could port you through the puzzle as I do it to get to the end. I don’t seem to have much of a problem with any JPs, so if you’d like, I’d be happy to help out.
Thank you very much, Donari.
Regarding your snow mounds:
I’m not able to find an item to make these snow platforms. I’m digging around on the wiki at anything related to the snowflakes, but I’m having no luck finding what could produce these mounds. Would someone be kind enough to share this information please?
If the images are not doctored at all to add extra white glow over the back item, then it is likely just the angle the pics are taken at which causes the white glow from the items to mask the yellow color of the flower.
You can even still see a touch of the yellow at the ends of the petals, so I think it is just the angle and the way the glow effects of the armor/weapon affect other glowing items (the back item) to make it also appear as that color from that angle.
Basically:
Looking pretty.
Seriously, though, looking really good. It fits with your well-developed overall appearance. Haven’t seen anyone with that look before. Nice job.

Technically, binding a single key to send a predefined word or sentence to chat is against the ToS. Policy is 1 key = 1 action.
Making a single key press automatically perform multiple key presses is performing multiple actions with a single key press.
At minimum, sending a single letter to chat via one key press would be bannable as that one key press would be performing 3 actions. Expand that out to entire words or sentences and it really adds up to how many actions are performed via that single key press.
Not sure if they have banned accounts for macroing chat statements before or not, or if they’re kind of lax on enforcing macro usage for this behavior. Just letting you know that it technically does violate the ToS, so do not be surprised if you do get banned for doing it (or attempting to do it).

It’s still available on the gem store under the “Services” tab for 150 gems.
Quite welcome. Glad I could help out!
I believe the maximum is now at 69. At least that is what I read shortly after HoT’s release. I’ll see if I can find it again.
EDIT:
Wiki already had the info I went looking for:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Character_Slot_Expansion
- Prior to the pre-purchase announcement for Heart of Thorns, a single account could have up to 64 character slots.
- After the release of Heart of Thorns, the limit was increased so that a single account could have up to 70 characters.
So max is now 70.

I believe you have to be not currently representing any guild for the leave guild option to be active for a selected guild. Not sure if you’ve tried that already or if you’ve been representing your private guild and attempting to leave the other one. Worth a try if you’ve not yet.
Hi again guys ^.^ I deleted my old post as for some reason it wouldn’t let me edit it. Maybe my computer is acting goofy.
Anyways, I Would REALLY appreciate a Total makeover kit and a celestial dye. I want to turn my asura into a snow princess
Ty guys ^.^ And I hope all of you have a very merry Wintersday <3
Hiyas. The post edit issue today was not just you. I noticed earlier today that I was not able to edit or delete a post (or even make a new post for a little while). Seems alright now though. Just wanted to let you know that it was not likely due to your computer or browser, but something with the forum database being selectively laggy for certain actions.
I don’t think the puzzle is counted as being ‘won’ until you loot the chest.
I know it did not advance my achievement of my 3 needed until I looted the chest.
As your screenshot shows you didn’t loot the chest yet, your 18 may actually be 19!
Worth looking into as your record may be 1 higher than you think it is.I know what you mean as far as the achievement progress records you runs, but when scoring for the board it records how many times you ported into that area with the chest.
Although I did mess up one run really badly, during that 18 run. Meaning I could’ve gotten to 19 if i didn’t kitten that one run.
Gotcha. Haven’t really paid attention to that score before (didn’t even notice that it was there, honestly) so I was not sure when it acknowledged actually completing the JP.
I wish you luck on maybe breaking that 20 barrier before the end of Wintersday!
F11 > Combat / Movement section > Ground Targeting dropdown menu:
Select whether you want it to automatically place the AoE at the location of the cursor so it only takes one activation of the skill to fire it off.
Can also select the option for the ground targeting to snap to the feet of the current target versus on the location of the cursor.

I mentioned this in another thread on the issue, but they never responded with whether it helped fix the problem for them or not. Perhaps you would not mind trying it and letting others know if it helps or not.
ANet hasn’t really said anything on if they are working to finish fixing the problem or not.
You are not alone though. I have seen others mentioning that they still have the frost effect leftover from this issue, despite their not even having the Preserved Queen Bee item equipped any more. However, not everyone who had their Queen Bee equipped and experienced it temporarily being Winter’s Presence have this residual effect persisting even after unequipping the item.
I’m not sure if this residual effect could potentially be a problem client-side, as opposed to being server-side. As not everyone with this item has this issue, I’m leaning toward it being a client-side rendering issue.
One thing you could try is to run a repair cycle on your game to see if it can verify and correct any files to fix this residual effect from appearing on your characters.
If you need a hand running the repair cycle:
- Close your game/launcher completely
- Right-click your game shortcut and select ‘Properties’
- On the ‘Shortcut’ tab, the first line says “Target:”, immediately after the end quotation mark in this field, put a space and then add -repair
It will look like this (but with your installation location):
“F:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair- Again, make sure there is a space between the " and -repair
- Hit OK and save this change to the shortcut properties.
- Run the shortcut and it’ll repair the game files if any are damaged.
- After the repair is finished, close the launcher, remove the -repair argument that you added (including the space) and save this change to the shortcut properties again.
- Run the game as normal to see if it’s fixed.
(it is likely that the repair will dip into the ‘not responding’ state often, but it should finish properly after a few minutes or so, but a repair may take up to about 30 minutes to complete depending on your system specs)
If you do run this repair, would you please mention your trying it as I’m sure it would help the devs and other players to know if it does or does not help fix the problem.
I’m not certain, but if you both log in get into a party together, you can then try to go in and out of the JP until you are both in the same instance of the puzzle. You might then be able to get to the end of the JP and your friend can then use the ‘Teleport to friend’ (party member) item and they’d teleport from the start of the puzzle to you at the end of the puzzle. That is, if ANet hasn’t already disabled that item from being usable in the JP. They may only be usable in the open world. I’m not certain. Again, no idea if this would actually work or not, just an idea of something to try that isn’t against the ToS like doing the JP on their account for them would be.
ANet hasn’t really said anything on if they are working to finish fixing the problem or not.

Hiya, GreyerSkies! I wish for you a ton of enjoyment in whatever game you move on to.
If you’d please consider taking a few minutes to browse my [Gifting Strangers] thread in the Players Helping Players sub-forum, I’m sure many people have requested items that you may be parting with. I’m sure your stuff will find good homes with those sharing their desires for items in that thread.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/I-d-really-like-this-Gifting-Strangers
If I can help you with gifting items to these players, shoot me a PM. I’d gladly help you out in any way I can to fulfill the desires of posts you run across there.
The most common mistake is failing to include a ‘space’ between the end quotes " and the -repair argument. The path will be invalid without the space separating the path and the argument as it will be seeing the entire line of continuous text as specifying the path instead of a path followed by an argument.
(it is likely that the repair will dip into the ‘not responding’ state often, but it should finish properly after a few minutes or so, but a repair may take up to about 30 minutes to complete depending on your system specs)
The effect is the skin. There is no actual shoulder armor appearance, just the effect. Applying these shoulders to your armor simply applies the effect around your character.
I would like to request those making desires for specific amounts of something to please remember to include a running total and to please update it if/when some are received.
Just to use the 10,000 drinks as an example, please remember to include your current progress on the task:
e.g. 1,344/10,000
This goes not only for this desire, but for all desires that are for a quantity of an item.
This extra information would be appreciated by some gifters.
Also, if you do receive some from a gifter, please remember to update the current number every now and then.
Thank you!
Well, I wasn’t experiencing this problem.
This latest patch (build 56,395) has broken it for me now as well. Thanks.
All fields on the ‘General Options’ tab are reset to default upon loading into the character select screen. Same as the other people who had the problem before this patch.
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
GW2: 32-bit client
EDIT:
Inventory options have also been reset.
All reset as well.
Window positions remained as I had them previously set though.
Attempting to replace the newly downloaded Local.dat file with a backup made prior to downloading this patch causes a new file to download, resulting in everything resetting again.
(edited by StinVec.3621)
…
Last bug is guild items disappear on withdraw randomly and do not display a withdraw log.
…
That guild bank bug has never been fixed, sadly.
However, you can get around the bug and force the withdrawn item to show up in your inventory and be logged appropriately by withdrawing an additional item from the guild bank. It forces the previous, intended item to plop into your inventory. You can then replace that 2nd withdrawn item back into the guild bank.
I hope this helps. I need to do this constantly (every 2-3 items) when I am withdrawing items from my guild bank.
Something To Try #1
Has anyone tried performing a -prefreset command line argument to see if wiping it manually helps fix it so it doesn’t reset?
Something To Try #2
If that was tried and did not work, has anyone tried completely deleting the local.dat file where preferences are stored so a new one will be downloaded after loading the launcher? Perhaps this may help fix it.
Sorry I cannot help more right now, I am not having this problem…yet.
