Actually, I’ve been rather interested in the Jungle Outfit. Too bad I’m out of gems.

You could always make your desire for the item known here:

Perhaps someone will gift it to you before the sale ends.
(if you do post it there and receive it as a gift, be sure to immediately update your post stating that you received it as a gift so others do not send you additional ones that cannot be used)

Mordrem Invasion Feedback [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

My take on it is.

ANet has forgotten how to have fun.

They are designing events that are grind fests with low rewards. Even their holidays are grind fests. Instead of holiday related events that happen once a year and you get a different Holliday hat each year or something for doing them, it’s endlessly running around killing things to get the loot. Or no loot now as the case seems to be.

Since they’ve forgotten how to have fun, they think that grinding these events for hours over the days to get enough to tokens to BUY one reward with gold is fun.

It’s not. It’s really not.

Not only is the grind incredible and the rewards meager but they’ve completely cut the new players out of getting anything nice. The new players don’t have the dps, the waypoints, and they for sure can’t afford the gold cost of buying even if they do get enough tokens. What are they supposed to do, grind for the blossoms and then get nothing from the vendor? Who thought of this?

It’s like the devs designed the rewards with a calculator where their heart should be. Thinking first of the economy. Thinking, “how much of a gold sink can this event be”, when they should have been thinking, “how much fun can this event be?”

Dead on with my feelings. Thank you for writing that out. I really, really miss the fun events we all know they can make.

Regarding new players, it is possible that they planned it like that:

  • New players grind to get blooms, but lack the gold needed to buy an item
  • The new player needs to buy gems with real money and convert it to gold to be able to spend the blooms they just spent the weekend grinding for.

It makes me sad that I find this type of greedy thinking to be entirely plausible for the new ANet instead of being an utterly outrageous theory. Very sad indeed.

Bandicam

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I use Bandicam on occasion. I have not had an issue with FPS loss while recording other games, but I do not make extremely high quality recordings and never record GW2.

As GW2 is heavily CPU-bound, you should consider Hax’ suggestion of a less CPU-intensive recorder such as Shadowplay.

Otherwise, I could only suggest that you try to cut back on the areas you can stand to have lower and see if it makes a difference for you.
Such as:
Do you really need it to be 1080p or can you settle for lower?
Maybe try 30fps instead of 60 and see if fps loss while recording is lower and the video quality tolerable.
Perhaps try to lower the sound quality and see if there is less of an fps issue without sacrificing much sound quality.

TP UI very slow

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

My GW 2 is installed on desktop since forever since day 1 3 day headstart and before that on closed betas / beta weekends events.

Also my \‘s are yen symbols cause of Japanese language support, but that shouldn’t matter.

All I did was delete the oldest cache and its a tiny bit better.

“C:\Users\Ishida\Desktop\GW2\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” but \ is a yen sign on my machine cause of what I had to do to get certain non-local stuff to work.

The \ symbol replacement shouldn’t cause an issue. However, in the properties, after the end quotation in the top line make sure there is a space between it and the -repair argument. If there is no space between the ending " and the -repair then you will get the invalid path error.

“C:\Users\Ishida\Desktop\GW2\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair

For me, nothing has helped improve the laggy and slow motion-functioning TP UI that got this bad after a patch a month or two ago.

I cannot recall which patch specifically, but I believe it was the same patch where the green ‘successful trade’ pop up was suddenly appearing smaller than normal (June 9th update), though it may have been one of its smaller patches that followed in the week after it. Initially, the slightly altered green success pop up was fine and the TP seemed to be faster than normal. However, I recall that quickness to the UI only lasting for a day or two before bogging down and becoming very slow and being this bad since.

  • tried different interface sizes other than my preferred size (small)
  • tried repairing the client
  • tried clearing GW2 cache
  • tried clearing system cache
  • tried clearing all web browser caches and cookies
  • tried making sure that there were no proxy setting issues
  • tried ensuring all GW2 related processes are cleared for unlimited web access in firewall software
  • tried a full reinstall of the game
  • tried performing a complete cleaning of all graphics drivers and installing the latest versions
  • tried ensuring the drivers for other system components (cpu, etc.) were up to date
  • tried defragmenting the system drive
  • tried defragmenting the non-system drive where I have GW2 installed
  • tried defragmenting just the GW2 game folder and prioritizing GW2 to be at the front of the drive during defragmentation for quicker read/write access
  • tried turning all graphics settings to their lowest settings
  • tried turning all graphics settings in my AMD CCC GPU utility to their lowest settings, as well as trying them all set to application controlled
  • tried running GW2 in windowed mode, fullscreen mode, windowed fullscreen mode
  • tried ensuring that there were no other programs running at the same time as GW2
  • tried boosting GW2 and/or coherent process’s I/O priority to ‘High’
  • tried boosting GW2 and/or coherent process’s Priority Class to ‘Above Normal’
  • I have all cores permanently unparked
  • tried overclocking and underclocking the CPU and the GPU to see if there was any difference
  • tried some other things, but my brain is too tired right now to think of what they were. I will try to update the list later.

After all of that, nothing has worked to make it not move in slow motion with the stuttering and slowly-animated scrolling and graphic pop ups, delayed click acknowledgement, or the delayed hover activation detection.

Any good free SSD clone software?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

You may want to give Macrium Reflect a look. It is free and appears to have a real good cloning function and does not suffer from several drawbacks other programs seem to have (such as some requiring the disk to be cloned to be unmounted). However, I have not tried it myself due to being happy with True Image.
http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx

Other free alternatives can be found here:
https://alternativeto.net/software/acronis-true-image

Looks really good, since my old Acronis doesn’t install under Win 10.

Did just a bakup that really went fast and without slowing down my PC and
mounted the images as an extra drive to test that.

Thanks for that tip

You may also be interested in a few other products if a feature of that one mentioned above is missing or lacking.

I went on a hunt and found that EASEUS has a good piece of software that also has a backup tool available in a free version: “EASEUS Todo Backup”

It specifically states that you can backup specific partitions, compress the backup to save space, and also split the backup into multiple images.

Partition Backup Tutorial

I have also used “MiniTool Partition Wizard” for personal partition copying and it worked wonderfully. I just installed it again to make sure it works as I remember it working. The free edition does have the partition copy feature in addition to the disk copy feature so you can copy an individual partition from a disk to another disk instead of doing a full disk cloning. It is also Win10 compatible.

Another one that works well is “EASEUS Partition Master”. It also kind of integrates their Todo Backup software into it if you also have that installed. It works a lot like MiniTool’s software and has the same partition copy functions, but also offers many more features, even in their free version. It is also Win10 compatible.

For free software, I’d probably recommend to go with EASEUS’ Partition Master and Todo Backup, but they are all free so you can try them all out.

Soundtrack name?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Speaking of soundtracks I have lately started doing something to make my characters feel even more different than I already consider them. All of them have their own itunes playlist with completely different styles (country, electronica, hard metal, classical, etc).

:D
I do that too!

I also use a different SweetFX preset for each character.
One has a noir appearance, another has a very rich and vibrant color scheme, another that plays in a kind of dark and ominous looking world, and many more.

The individualized music playlists match the corresponding SweetFX theme for each character, so it really makes for an immersive experience that differs from character to character.

help picing gaming device,mouse, ect

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I second prioritizing a good gaming mouse.

I used to rely entirely on numpad, arrow keys, and the other surrounding keys no matter what game I was playing. However, after I got my first gaming mouse with a keypad on its side, I knew I would never be able to go back to a standard mouse again.

I was able to improve my gameplay in all types of games by offloading the various key binds to the 12 buttons on the side of the mouse. This balancing of controls between both hands meant that my left hand could focus more on movement-based commands, while my thumb can work in sync with my fingers on the mouse buttons and scroll wheel for the more intricate, on-the-fly actions.

I’ve tried several different kinds of these gaming mice, and I must strongly urge you to stay as far away from Razer mice as possible. They had been really good over a decade ago. However, they seem to have gone the route of jacking their prices really high and lowering the quality of the their construction to bare minimum. The internal components are actually designed to wear down unnaturally fast. In games that are click-heavy, such as GW2 and other RPGs, this designed failure point is reached must sooner than with other types of games.

After checking out and testing many different gaming mice, I decided to go with the Red Dragon Perdition.

I do not see me using another mouse for a very, very long time to come. I do not even need to worry about picking up a back up in case it fails (like I had to with Razer mice) as it is a very high quality and durable mouse that is designed to last, not to wear out within a certain time frame (again, like Razer mice).

It also does not require any software to be running for all of the lighting and keys on the mouse to function, like Razer with its Synapse software which could consume over 100MB of memory. Your settings, sensitivity profiles and everything else is stored inside of the mouse. Even if you do want its software configuration utility running to make quick adjustments to sensitivity profiles or tweak the pulsating light speeds or colors, it will only take up about 700KB of memory.

I highly recommend it.

What good will +critical damage (Ferocity) do without Precision to up one’s critical chance?

Personally, I prefer to have a lower chance of hitting critically, but when it does then it hits for a lot more than a normal critical hit, instead of a chance of critically hitting more often but for a standard critical hit.

In my experiences, most PvE fights do not last long enough for high critical chance to even have much of an effect on the outcome of the encounter, let alone one that is noticeable.

Basically, I’d prefer quality over quantity - high damage, rare crits over a chance for more frequent crits that hit for far less extra damage.

I like my critical hits to actually be of a critical nature in that they noticeably impact the outcome of an encounter when they happen.

My favorite to date is Acronis True Image, though that is also one that requires purchasing.

You may want to give Macrium Reflect a look. It is free and appears to have a real good cloning function and does not suffer from several drawbacks other programs seem to have (such as some requiring the disk to be cloned to be unmounted). Other free alternatives can be found here:
https://alternativeto.net/software/acronis-true-image

Macrium Reflect is a Disc Imaging Backup Software to make a complete *.mrimg or *.iso copy of your hard drive.

Main features :

  • Disk Imaging
  • Disk Cloning
  • Access images in Windows Explorer
  • Schedule backups
  • Linux Rescue CD
  • Windows PE Rescue Media (RAID support)
  • Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 compatiblity
  • Support for GPT

It has a built-in scheduler, you can set it up to create backups of the windows harddrive automatically in the background, during you work with Windows.

Images can be saved off to network drives, DVDs, or removable drives (USB and FireWire).

Images can be password-protected for the security of your data.

It uses Windows’ Volume Shadow copy Service (VSS).

The backup images can also be mounted as a virtual drive, which can be very useful for retrieving separate files: you can also restore single files or folders, but backup only the full drive C.

You can restore or migrate the Operating System to a larger harddisk than the original harddisk was.

I personally feel that the Pact Fleet weapon set was the most well-designed to date. I feel that the animation, textures, color scheme, lighting effects and overall design in general for the entire set was done really well. I only managed to pick up about 5 of the different weapons at the time, sadly. I really hope to see more sets of similar design quality in future sets.

If this was in response to a support ticket and how the GM was helpful and resolved an issue, it may be best to include such praising comments for this specific GM via the ‘Rate Your Support’ email you should receive shortly after your ticket is closed. You can rate your support experience and update the comment section of the rating page to include such praise and thanks so their bosses become directly aware of how pleased you were with their assistance.

If this was, indeed, support related, I’m glad you had such a good experience. Account Issue Support at GW2 really is the best I’ve ever experienced by a game company. Some issues I’ve had did not have my desired outcome, but the support I received in my attempt to resolve the issues was excellent.

pop up in gemstore

“Ads by DNS Unlocker” (as you can see at the bottom of the pop-up) is adware that your computer is infected with.

If it was installed as part of bundled software that you intentionally installed, though didn’t realize it would install this additional adware, then it should be listed in your add/remove programs software list where you can uninstall it. If it was installed maliciously as part of a virus, spyware or malware infection, you’ll need to clean your computer more thoroughly than simply uninstalling it.

Immediately clean your computer!

  • First check if “DNS Unlocker” has an uninstall listing in your computer’s add/remove programs list. If so, proceed to uninstall it.

Further cleaning that is recommended:

  • Check your web browser(s) for any installed extensions that are adware, like DNS Unlocker is, and remove the extension(s) from your web browser(s)
  • Run a full scan with your anti-virus program
  • Download, install and run an AdWare removal program, such as AdwCleaner, AdAware, SpyBot
  • Follow that up with downloading, installing and running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Usually, if one virus has found its way onto your computer, there are sure to be more. Depending on what viruses or malware are found, after cleaning your computer thoroughly, you may want to change your passwords for your email and various login accounts. Do not change them prior to cleaning or your new passwords will likely be compromised and you would need to do it all over again.

Glad to hear the default changed so we can hit enter now!
Just need arrow keys + enter to scroll through characters at the selection screen and it’ll be golden.

Indeed. They did make the change so ‘Enter’ does log into the highlighted character, but we still cannot cycle through them with the arrow keys. :\

Just as a note, they recently changed the default interaction key after you hit F12 from ‘space bar’ to ‘Enter’.

They also changed the default selection to the “Exit To Character Select” option instead of the “Exit Game” option.

Now you can simply hit “F12 > Enter” to quickly log out to the character select screen so there is no need to rely on clicking the options and potentially hitting the Exit Game one.

No one read the front page? lol

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-mordrem-are-coming/

From 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time (UTC-7) on September 10 through 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time (UTC-7) on September 13, Mordrem will be staging periodic incursions into Brisban Wildlands, Kessex Hills, and Diessa Plateau. Keep an eye on the world event UI, which will let you know when Mordremoth is launching its assault.

Thread was made before the news article, which someone posted a link to few mins ago

Except there’s no time stamp on the news article so people like me wouldn’t know which came first the chicken or the egg.

:) I’d just like to point out that the “chicken or the egg” paradox was solved back when evolution came on the scene. The egg came first, which hatches into a chicken as we know it today. The creature that laid the egg was not a chicken (genetically speaking) and that creature became extinct when the species of chicken (with the genetic mutations of the chicken that we know today) became dominant. The previous creature died out.

On Topic: I’m looking forward to whatever it is that is coming to the game. It has been far too long since something happened in the game to lure me out of the city and away from the TP NPC.

ArenaNet Self-Publishing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

In my mind, I see it as possibly being related to the phone number requirement for play-for-free accounts. Perhaps there are some laws and regulations related to the collection of phone numbers by a foreign company (the publisher previously being NCSoft), and changing the wording and background paperwork to all indicate ArenaNet instead of NCsoft would likely be the easiest way to meet such a requirement.

To me, this points toward no real changes from how things have always been and was just a minor swap of names to abide by some international laws and data collection restrictions.

Just speculation, of course.

Whether due to a lack of funds, or an inability to log into the game during the sale period for an item, perhaps there are people who would gladly help you to acquire the item(s) you desire.

I know that I will certainly be keeping an eye on this thread.

"I'd really like this..." [Gifting Strangers]

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Administrator Note: In the giving spirit of this thread, we are limiting requests to one request per player. This will allow more players to benefit from the generosity inspired by this initiative. Please do not make more than one post over the lifetime of the thread. In addition, please do not edit or delete your post to submit an additional request. Thank you for your cooperation.

Greetings!

Many people enjoy the act of giving. Many people enjoy the act of giving to a complete stranger. However, in Guild Wars 2 it is difficult to gift items due to many of the items on the gem store being one-time account unlocks (armor skins/outfits, etc), so the gifter must be aware of the person’s lack of having the item already, as well as even having a desire for the item.

The above problem seems that it would help to limit gifting to only happening between friends/guildmates or relatives that play together. I see this as also taking away from the impact of the gift as the giver would likely have to ask ahead of time if the person would like and use the item and does not already have the item unlocked.

Now, this situation is doubly hard for players who enjoy giving gifts to strangers as they would need to gift an item while being uncertain if it is already unlocked on the stranger’s account or if the item would be desired and even used by the stranger.

I see this as possibly leading to much less giving/gifted than there could be.

I would like this thread to serve as a place for kind-hearted individuals who enjoy giving gifts to strangers to be able to find such players who not only desire an item, but do not already have it and who will definitely use it!

  1. Share Your Desire
If you desire an item from within the game or from the gem store or trading post (unable to afford it/unable to log in while it is temporarily on sale), please do not hesitate to make mention of your desire here. Perhaps there is a generous and kind-hearted player keeping an eye on this thread for another player such as you to make their desire known!
  2. EDIT Your Post If Your Desire Is Fulfilled (in part or in full)
I only ask that, if you receive your desired gift, please immediately EDIT and mark your desire as fulfilled! Please, DO NOT make another post stating that your desire was partially or fully fulfilled as your initial post will still be there saying you desire the item(s). You can edit your desire post by clicking the little pencil icon in the bottom right of your post, making your changes and stating you received it, and then saving the changes. (I would also kindly ask that you consider including a thank you to your gifter in your edit)
  3. Respect Gifter Anonymity
On that note, I also request that you not name your gifter in your thank you unless the gifter mentions that it is alright with them to mention their name. Naming may lead to undesired attention, as well as potentially leading to private messages to the gifter from people asking for a gift. Some may welcome such messages. However, I’m sure some givers may enjoy the anonymity behind their giving. This aspect of their enjoyment in giving may be ruined if everyone becomes aware that they are a frequent giver.
  4. Remove Self-fulfilled Desires
I also request that if you acquire your desired item on your own that you remove your request here by deleting your post or editing it to state that you acquired it on your own.
  5. Patience
With all that said, please do not feel sad or hurt if your desire goes unfulfilled by a gifter. I’m sure many will go unfulfilled. These are acts of generosity and kindness and one cannot force or expect someone else to perform either.
  6. Do Not Make Duplicate Requests
I would also appreciate it if you would please refrain from making multiple posts for the same item(s) or ‘bumping’ your desired item(s). Gifters will browse the thread and choose whose request for a desired item they may fulfill. I imagine duplicates or ‘bumps’ would only serve to make your desire less likely to be fulfilled.

I know that many may feel that the simple act of asking for a gift is against the purpose of what a gift is ‘supposed’ to be, that it should be unexpected and a surprise. However, with the way gifting is set up on the gem store, and with the one-time unlock nature of many of the items that are available on there, I feel that there kind of needs to be such a source of desires as I hope this thread will provide.

I know there are likely to be a lot of players who have an excess of coin (real and in-game), and perhaps some of these players may feel that there isn’t much for them spend it on right now. With there being a source of people making their desires for items known, perhaps it may lead to these players as seeing gifting and making a stranger’s day as a desirable way to spend it.

This may lead to nobody posting their desires at all and the thread fading away into the cold abyss of long forgotten threads

Or it may lead to many desires being fulfilled. It may even lead to a person’s desire for an item being fulfilled several times before they can edit their post to mark it as being fulfilled.

Yes, there may be some who prey on the kindness of others who post desires for items that they can easily afford, but want someone else to pay for.

I leave this up to the gifter’s judgement.

Fear of being tricked or ‘had’ should not stop one from being kind and generous to another person.

You may be taken, true. It has happened to me many times in-game and in ‘real’ life. You could also rekindle a person’s hope in humanity, or at least in their fellow gamers by showing them there are still kind-hearted individuals out there who give and gift despite the possibility of being taken advantage of.

That’s my hope for this thread, anyway.

Happy adventuring.

Additional Notes To Assist Those Sharing Their Desires

I recommend that posters desiring items of a non-single quantity please follow the example set by others making similar desire posts.

Specifically, if you are requesting an item that you desire more than one of (like Jute Scraps or something), please keep specific track in your post of how many you have and how many more you need instead of a persistent desire post with a general request for items of a type that cannot ever be marked as fulfilled.

e.g

  • Jute Scraps – 70/250 (received 70 of the 250 needed so far)
    Not
  • Some Jute Scraps

A desire asking for “Some Jute Scraps” may lead to fewer being gifted to you as some gifters may be dissuaded from sending them due to their having no clue how many you still need or if you even still need more. Being able to quickly see how many are still desired of an item may allow for some gifters to be more likely to send some or all of the amount desired your way.

This specific and constantly updated request could also be expanded to desires shared for armor/weapons skins. If gifters are unsure of what you already have or are in need of, they may be less likely to send items your way.

Do not feel the need to add a reason for why you cannot afford or otherwise acquire the item, you can simply state the item you desire and nothing else if you want to.

  • I would really like to get the wedding attire outfit. However, I cannot afford the 1,000 gems right now as I am actually getting married for real very soon and it is taking up all of my funds and the planning is leaving me with little game time to earn in-game gold.
    • Desire: Wedding Attire Outfit
    • Server: NA

EDIT: Fulfilled!
Thank you very much, “Anonymous”, for gifting the Wedding Attire outfit to me! Every time I wear it I will think of my actual wedding gown and wedding and of how happy I am to know that there are kind-hearted and generous people out there still!

This was just an example. Please do not gift me the wedding attire outfit as I am not getting married. Again, this was just an example of what someone may say and of a way in which they could edit their post to mark their desire as being fulfilled with a thank you.

If you are desiring an account upgrade from the gem store (bag/bank expansions, home instance nodes, mail carriers, etc.) be aware that these are not giftable items.

As they are not able to be gifted, a gifter would have to mail you gold that you would then exchange for gems that will allow you to purchase these upgrades. So you may instead want to word your desire as a request for gold so you can buy gems to get the desired upgrade. If you do this, please update your post if you begin receiving gifts of gold toward your purchase.

Example:

  • Desire: Bank Tab Expansion (600 gems)
  • Currently At: 50/105 gold needed to purchase
(This was an example amount based on the exchange rate at the time of this edit.)

I think they are requesting currently unavailable items to be made available in the gem store. And maybe for the tonic clothes to be made into armor skins or outfits.

gto alex, if you are looking to request these items, it is best to do so in the thread that is dedicated for gem store item requests.

I find the OP’s post history in other threads and their making this thread to be quite hypocritical.

I mean, there was even a thread where someone said people talking about god in game chat was offensive, and this OP responded with i find this thread offensive … Basically the same thing here, but here they are the thread creator saying pretty much the same thing that they previously attacked someone else for saying.

As well as another gem they said which is basically what any number of other people in this thread are saying to them:
We all had relatives die in different ways does that mean playing necro is offensive because he’s raising the dead ?
This logic is just invalid I’m sorry .

Yup, it’s been reported many times over the last 2 1/2 months (like here), though it appears that they are ignoring it completely by their not acknowledging it as being a bug in the threads reporting it and it not being fixed in any of the patches that have been released since it became an issue.

The bug of the scroll bar areas not being dismissed with the pop-up has still not been corrected and it has been there since the new trading post interface was introduced. All that it takes to fix that bug is to correctly add that element to the list of elements that are hidden upon dismissing the buy/sell pop-up screen. One tiny line of text to fix that and it is still ignored, doesn’t give me much hope of the field offset getting fixed any time soon.

  • Both being worked on now. Thank you, Pat Cavit!

After being a long time user of Razer mice, and also having a long history of dealing with their failing and their other issues, I went with a Red Dragon Perdition.

I do not see me using another mouse for a very, very long time to come. I do not even need to worry about picking up a back up in case it fails (like I had to with Razer mice) as it is a very high quality and durable mouse.

I highly recommend it.

Okay so recently there was a glitch with the makeover kits that enabled what seems to be new hairstyles coming with HoT, but they didn’t preview correctly, so the only way to see it on the toon was to accept the change.
Which some people did, whether because they liked it or had a perm contract, only to find they couldn’t change it back because kits were briefly disabled while they fixed them (the basic kits I believe also got gender change as well)
People with the new hairstyles are probably going to keep them as they are currently exclusive to the few who lucked out on the glitch at just the right time, so they get a two month headstart on hair

^ Nailed it.

Thinking of trying guild wars again.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

StinVec.3621

GW2 Necro is still nothing like the GW1 Necro (which was a real necromancer). I’ve found that the Necro in Gw2 is best played without minions, and a whole lot more fun too. I still consider GW2 as not having a Necromancer profession as their version of it is so far from what a necro should be (and is in GW1).

Regarding rangers, I guess it depends on what game mode you want to play it in. I have like 9 rangers or so that I use in Open World PvE and I love them for it. Still wish we could choose to ditch the pet, but I mainly try to forget it is even there and try to compensate for its hit to my stats in other ways. Can’t comment on ranger in PvP modes or iPvE (dungeons/fractals). May want to hit the ranger sub-forum for more insight on those areas from ranger players.

However, I am waiting to purchase it until it is either shown to offer enough content that interests me to justify its current price, or eventually decreases in price to a point that I feel is more in line for what it ends up offering to my style of play. Either way, I do not give my money to companies for something that is not yet released and that I will be unable to use until some later date. I buy products, not promises of a product.

i wasnt talking about wvw besides when people do that they usually block type the name and unblock then talk no i was talking about they fact that its more often due to the influx of new players that they start talking kitten in pvp ranked matches blaiming other players for losing then when you say some thing back they block you and keep whispering you there is absolutly no reason why a block should allow you to talk too that person other then arenanet not having thought about it or too lazy to fix (for 3 years) when you block a player they cant talk too you so why should you be able to talkt o them

This is actually pretty fun to try to say without taking a breath.

No, it does not matter. You receive an account-bound item (2 in a stack) that unlocks bag slots for the character that ‘uses’ the item. I’ve thrown mine into the bank to hang on to until I am sure I want to use one or two on a character.

Purdy^.

Nice thread, bookmarked.

I wonder if those nice datamined dragonfly wings may show up.

I’m really looking forward to those wings for one of my characters. Hopefully it will not be much longer of a wait.

Nice character.

The only thing I’ve bought from the gemstore in the past were transmutation crystals, and gems to convert to gold. Those dragonfly wings may be the first gemstore skin I’m interested in buying.

Thank you very much. I like her a lot and I have other characters that are slight variations on the overall design or simply in alternate colors.

Looking forward to what today’s item(s) will be.

Curunen, if you are interested, you can quickly gain 3 transmutation charges in about 7-10 minutes doing map clearing on three of the small and quick cities with a new character. Just an alternative way of gaining them if you were unable to purchase more and in a pinch, but wanted to change a character’s look.

Oh no I meant in the past when we used to use transmutation crystals and no wardrobe, and it was to transmute Order armour across characters – that’s when I bought some.

I get more than enough charges now from pvp reward tracks and have a lot already.

Ah, I gotcha.

Today’s item is:

Black Lion Chest Key, 26% off.

1 for 93 (usually 125)
5 for 337 (450)
25 for 1575 (2100)

Thank you, Donari!

The restrictions were datamined by the almighty that_shaman long ago.

Only one or two character slots

Limit of level 15

Seems like a limit on how high a “rank” you can get (specific to trial or possibly PvP related)

Only able to send mail to friends.

Can’t send items or gold through mail

Can’t speak in map chat

Can’t access Team Arenas

Can’t access main WvW maps (EB and Borderlands)

Can’t sell items on TP.

Outdated info that has been posted by many others before you. Please read the thread thoroughly.

StinVec.3621

Not worried. Not worried if the free accounts are limited. Nor am I worried if they’ve basically got everything a core account has now, including PvP, WvW including EB/Borderlands).

There have been a lot of things announced recently that make more sense if Anet had these plans for full free to play coming up. Pact Commander mastery track with the goal of helping new players and tools to go along with it. PvP leagues. WvW population changes. And increased account security options.

Prediction 1: In order to get a free account, you’ll need to provide a valid mobile or landline phone number for SMS authentication. One number per one free account. (GoogleVoice and other such numbers will not work.)
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/a-new-way-to-protect-your-account/
This will prevent most bot/spam accounts from being created. It also means those accounts will already have 2-factor authentication from the beginning greatly limiting whether they could be compromised. It will also mean everyone can’t just roll up as many accounts as they need for bank storage alts.

Prediction 2: Ranked PvP gets turned into leagues as previously announced. Free accounts get unranked access.
More people playing PvP in general is a good thing – it keeps matches from getting stale and matchmaking works much better with larger numbers of people queueing. GW2 also gets a bump as far as esports goes with free PvP access.

Prediction 3: Free accounts get full WvW access, not only EOTM.
This could go a LONG way to resolving population imbalances in lower tiers. It may sound bad at first to dump a lot of free players on the lower tiers – but as long as queue times don’t get out of control, everyone wins with more people in WvW spread across all the servers that were lacking.

I really like your Prediction 1. That would be a real good start to the limitations for making new free-to-play accounts. Well done.

I do not take part in PvP/WvW, but your logic seems sound to me on those matters so I’d be for those predictions being implemented as well.

This post is from one year ago.

And it’s this datamine everyone is going on.

No, it is not. The only people citing that as being a possible basis for the constraints of the rumored free-to-play accounts are those that refuse to acknowledge that the information in that datamining is over a year old and was in reference to an unimplemented trial account status with those restrictions.

The only real free-to-play information us players have (for now) is based on the since-removed ArenaNet-produced info/Ad-video IGN had leaked in a tweet, where details found within it support a fully free-to-play model for the core game.

It is very likely that free-to-play core game is their plan and is not likely to be backed away from. It is ANet we’re talking about here – they do what they want, loyal players be Kittened. The only thing really to discuss is speculation on what form of free-to-play account restrictions ANet will implement, and then what form of free-to-play account restrictions ANet should implement. As what they should logically do and what they will do are not likely to be anything near similar.

It buffered horribly slow for me to the point that I quit watching. They might have been in the process of taking it down at the time. All I saw was a lot of false representations of in game content (cliffside titan shown as part of an epic fight, lolwut?). Was there an announcement of free to play at the end?

Ah, I see.

I noticed the huge amount of falsely represented content as well. Made me laugh out loud.

Yeah, there sort of was. It said Play For Free and had a link that doesn’t work right now.

If it were actually about another upcoming trial period and that is what the “play for free” part was referencing, I’m sure someone at ANet would have stepped in here by now to say that GW2 is not going completely Free-To-Play as hinted at in that tweet and video. Their silence on the matter, considering how their players are responding to this bit of (possibly incorrect) news, is very telling.

For those that are curious about the link that is shown at the end of the IGN video (welcome.guildwars2.com/Play-For-Free), it gives a “Page Not Found” notice, though not a normal “Foo! Quaggan…” page not found message.

Also, the IGN page (http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/08/29/pax-2015-guild-wars-2-getting-raids-and-play-the-core-game-for-free) also gives a Page Not Found notice since it technically won’t be up until the 29th.

Just mentioning it so others do not waste time typing them out and checking.
