With regards to obscene guild names, is reporting individual players the best way to address the issue?
A ticket is better. The report options have nothing to do with the guild name so they won’t know that’s what you are trying to report. Get the Display name and character name as well as the guild name and tag and report it on a ticket.
Correct. Please submit a ticket. The in-game report is expressly for character names.
What do we do for pet names? I’ve seen a few rangers running around with pets that have some obscene names, and others downright derogatory towards a certain demographic.
One of the changes I have really been hoping for regarding ranger pets (among many), is that I really wish they would just change pet names to being visible only to the ranger that owns the pet. All other players will see the standard “Juvenile Thingy” name or “Tamed Thingy” to prevent issues of other rangers thinking it is an animal that is free for them to tame. This would completely remove inappropriate ranger pet names as being an issue.
I hope that doesn’t happen…I don’t give my pets offensive names, but I do like seeing other people’s names (like someone’s polar bear named Knut) and I like others to be able to see my pet’s names. If we could click a pet and report an offensive name that would be good though (I have seen a few offensive pet names, but not many).
An in-game way to report guild names would be nice too. I’ve only ever found myself doing a ticket for two or three really REALLY bad guild names and I haven’t seen them around since, so the ticket for a guild names does work, but it’s a little time intensive and I guess it’s to make it so that only the really offensive ones get reported.
I agree with your view. I would much prefer a right-click > ‘Report Inappropriate Pet Name’ option to be available when selecting a pet to the change I outlined so pet names can remain visible to all for those that enjoy naming and seeing what others have named their pets.
Thank you to those who have made posts with actual contributions to the topic of the thread so far. I appreciate your taking the time to reply with the requested information.
I love how you make a subtle humblebrag thread to show off your rediculous salvage amount and then throw this passive aggressive comment at all the people discussion your rediculous salvage amount.
What were you actually expecting?
It is nothing of the sort. How am I to know my number of salvages are abnormally high without asking to see what other people have? I start a thread asking such…hence this thread.
What was I expecting? Posts that actually contribute to the topic of the thread.
Please, if you are taking the time to reply to a thread, it would be greatly appreciated if you would make a post that contributes to the topic of the thread, otherwise you are wasting your time.

I never farm or grind. So that’s why you have 800k more drops? I see.
But could be you played 9 times as much of course that would be 56 hours a day then… you must be from another planetHe simply salvaged magicfind from blue and green items, nothing odd having million salvages using that method
sigh
I do not intentionally salvage items for Essence of Luck, though getting it as a byproduct during my usual salvaging was a nice little bonus. It’s all sitting in storage on a mule now until there is some worthwhile use for it in the future, if one does get added, that is.
I also never farm or grind. I loathe those two methods of acquiring currency or items.
I don’t see how having what is apparently an unusually high number of salvages immediately equates to assumptions of farming and grinding. I play the game as often as I am able to (which seems to be more often than many) and I only play to have fun…which I do. When I made this thread simply to ask a question and see what other players had as well, I didn’t realize I was going to have to justify how I acquired my number of salvages and defend my play style from baseless assumptions stated as facts.

Repeatedly reported and acknowledged issue in the bugs forum since last update.
Known workaround until it is fixed on their end is for you to place the "Account Bound on Acquire” version of the item into your inventory and then change maps or exit to character select and then log that character in again. Doing either of these actions causes the bugged “Account Bound on Acquire” versions to be replaced with the proper “Account Bound” version that you can then stack normally with your other “Account Bound” items.

Sadly, birthday scrolls are not included in this fix as those are intentionally(?) made to be different items and unstackable.
Whatever it is, I hope we can opt out of or disable it should we not be amused.
It might be fun or funny for 5 minutes (or even an hour), but to completely ruin an entire day of potential gaming time for who knows how many of their customers just for some joke is not my idea of fun or funny.
I really hope they will be considerate of all their players this time.
My memory’s hazy on this, but I could swear at the game’s start there were more than asterisks replacing swears. Maybe strings of symbols like old comic strips used to indicate cussing. I turned off the filter very early on when it overly enthusiastically changed the word “reputation” in an RP comment to something unrecognizable, due to the bad Spanish word imbedded therein.
If it’s still that draconian, those with the filter on may be assuming there’s a lot more cussing going on than there really is due to the overzealous filter.
I just discovered the other day that the filter still replaces ‘reputation’ in-game.
During a conversation a friend stopped me and had to ask what I was saying as she had no clue. I have swear filters off and my friend had them on. At least this issue led to my informing her of the chat options gear and how she could disable the swear filter that had annoyed her from the beginning. We then got into a funny discussion about forum users and our adventures with the kitten filter.
I’m curious to see how much others salvage compared to myself.
The Agent of Entropy achievement is unlocked after completing the ‘Salvage Master’ prerequisite achievement that requires 500 salvages to be made (thanks for noting this info, Lil Puppy). Agent of Entropy is then completed by salvaging 200 items and is infinitely repeatable, though points are only awarded for 125 completions of the achievement.
A real nice aspect of this achievement is that it tracks how many times you completed the achievement beyond the maximum number that awards points (125 times).
Please comment and state (and/or post a screenshot) of your number of times completing the achievement.

You can also include the age of your account if you would like.
I initially had my stats posted but removed them as there was some unwanted attention from the bad kind of forum-goers in the early minutes of creating the thread. It seemed like a better idea to remove my count until more people made their comments showing their amounts that now show my count as not being as abnormally high as was first thought based on early comments.
I’m loving the wide range of numbers (played and salvaged) being shared.
Thank you for participating in posting and good luck to you in your future salvages!

If you’ve ever had a poor, laggy connection when entering a new zone, you’ve experienced invisible terrain. Characters standing around in midair until the ground textures load properly. But here’s a lag-induced glitch that I’ve only experienced once; some sort of placeholder graphic for the SKY itself! It makes you feel as if you’re in Star Trek TNG’s holodeck.
I’ve never seen that on environmental textures. That’s pretty interesting to see. However, I do see that checkerboard appearance quite often on many weapons held by other players, though most commonly on a shield. It is also not a brief lack of texture while the true one loads up after some seconds. For me it requires a re-log or map change for that particular item to get its true texture back.

Wrong conclusion and it was already explained to you by Aidan.
The 5c listing fee is taken out of your wallet when you sell it, not when you pick up your money.
So when you have 1s in your wallet and sell 1 jute scrap to the highest bid of 1s, 5c (listing fee) are directly taken out of your wallet and 90 copper (sale value- sales tax) are delivered to your pickup tab.
You end up having 1.85s, 90c in the pick up tab and 95c in your wallet.
If the listing fee was refunded when selling to a buy order, you would have to get 95 copper (sales vale – sales tax + listing fee) in your pick up tab.
I see. Apparently I did become all sorts of confused on several aspects of the transaction process at some point. Thank you both for clarifying and setting me straight on the behavior of the system. I will be more diligent in the future with my understanding of systems before making such comments.
I suppose the removal of my incorrect comments and the resulting discussion would be in order so as to return the topic to being fully on track and prevent any confusion to other readers.
Thank you again.

May want to see if there are any other programs running now that may be conflicting with GW2 in full screen mode that were not running in the past when full screen was working.
Another thing to look at is switching to full screen mode by selecting a full screen + resolution in your F11 > video options menu instead of using ALT+Enter. You may be encountering an issue where your desktop may be at a different or unusual resolution that GW2 is not capable of running at in full screen mode and using ALT+Enter to switch GW2 to full screen mode is trying to force it to match your desktop resolution in full screen.
May want to also note what resolution your desktop is running at and what full screen resolutions of those provided as options in GW2 are not able to be enabled.
Could also check into your video card drivers and see if you are in need of an update. Perhaps there is an issue there and an update or re-installation is required.
Can also check the integrity of your game files and repair any damaged ones found:

@Zerraph and Doggie, glad to hear it is still a functioning workaround and you’re both back to things stacking as they should!
This is why I sell my stuff to the highest buyer, lol.

I have a few over the years … /rummages
What I find funniest about picture #1 that is entitled “Hairless” is that the first character does, indeed, have hair missing. However, if you look down at the character in slot 5 you will see nothing but a pair of eyeballs floating from the neck up! Got a nice surprise there when looking further down the image.
Razer Naga series mouse has always been plagued with an issue of having faulty mouse buttons where the activation button itself, as well as deterioration of the cheap plastic contact stem on the bottom of the button, would cause inconsistent activation of the buttons.
If you bought the mouse new then I suggest returning it and seeing if you can get another one that may not be as strongly afflicted with the issue.
Better would be to get an entirely different mouse that still has the features you desire.
I highly recommend the Red Dragon Perdition Gaming mouse. I switched to it after dealing with the issues Razer has in their Naga series and I absolutely love it. The Perdition is a reliable, quality, fully functional mouse with a long list of positives over the Naga, including the contours of the buttons, the customization options for lighting, as well as configuration software that doesn’t even need to be running due to settings being saved within the mouse (but when it does run it only uses 1-14MB instead of Razer’s Synapse that can use 50-120MB of memory and must be running for the mouse to function as desired).
It also comes in black or white.
http://www.amazon.com/Redragon-Perdition-Precision-Programmable-programmable/dp/B00GU8W5AE
Can get one for about $35 USD, so can cost much less than a Razer mouse with the benefit of also being of higher quality. It’s normally about $100, but if you have Amazon Prime you get it for $35. If you do not have Prime then you can activate the Prime trial, get it for $35 with free shipping, then cancel the trial and still have Prime for a month in case there are other deals you want to check out on there.

That is quite odd. I’d happily give you a portal up to the chest with my mesmer to get you back where you rightfully belong. Just message me any time you see me online and I’ll help you out if you would like.
I have a lot of faith in the development team and I greatly respect their abilities and what they’ve been able to achieve.
What I do not have faith in are the businessmen and women who make such decisions as forcing an unfinished update out to live, despite the likely protests and warnings of the developers, simply because of some unrealistic date that was most likely only announced and advertised as a marketing decision to preempt the date of another MMORPG becoming f2p.
After their likely being informed that it would not (and never could have been) ready by that date and that everything would need at least another two weeks to get it to a proper release state or risk serious issues, it was given an extra six days past the announced date to get the seriously bad issues sorted out and was forcibly released with just the mess of major issues remaining thanks to the hard work of the developers prioritizing and ironing out the seriously bad ones prior to the forced release.
I have nothing but respect for the developers, for the people doing the actual creation of the game. The complete opposite is true for those that keep sabotaging it with their agendas, business plans and unrealistic goals.
So to the developers, to the people doing the actual work, thank you for grinding out fixes for the remaining issues. I was not really affected by a lot of the issues that came with this update, or at least not really inconvenienced by most of them, but the one I am affected by to a great degree is the UI lag and I look forward to its being fixed when it can be addressed.

One of my new screens on my way through re-exploring the world on a new character with the new camera options.
Add -autologin option to your shortcut.
Necroed a 6 month old thread.
Nothing to see here, folks.
My maximum download speed is 1.5Mb/s. This translates to about 187KB/s.
This most recent hotfix patch download showed me as downloading at between 350 and 400 KB/s, which is not physically possible for my location, connection and line infrastructure.
Just letting you guys at ANet know that something is weird with the reported download speed in the launcher.
Video on Demand?
I had just picked up several new character slots and am making and remaking characters in an attempt to get the name and appearance just right for a few new characters to re-explore the world using the new camera options. I haven’t encountered this issue (yet), but I would really hate to get it against my will and then get all of my exploration and leveling rolled back at a later time when they end up addressing the issue. I also really do not think I should have to not proceed with making my new character and put off enjoying the new camera options for fear of getting this bug and being rolled back and losing any progress I make on these characters and all my other characters, or even banned if they go that route.
I agree, also, that the lack of any kind of response on this matter is very frustrating and disappointing.
The name is reserved to your account for 24 hours after the character with the name is deleted. If you do not make another character with that name within that time then any other account is free to use the name.

Patch, close launcher, replace the files into the bin folder again, modify your game shortcut and add these arguments with your actual email and password:
-autologin -nopatchui -email example@exampleemail.com -password examplepasswordTemporary workaround until it gets sorted out so the launcher doesn’t break with non-GW2 files in the bin folder.
I use SMAA injector only to replace the blurry ingame anti-aliasing option. Unfortunately this method doesn’t work for me
Another way to log into the game with gemfx/sweetfx on bin is to click on the word “initializing” when youre stuck on that screen.
This method DOES though… Weird.
Thank you for noting which did and did not work for you. I’ll be using the ‘click on initializing’ method from now on as well as I much prefer that over the crude method of bypassing the launcher entirely.

Thank you for pointing this out. I’m finally downloading the patch after waiting for so long. I use a different PPI and moving its files out of the bin folder temporarily has fixed my connection issue.
I like several in this set. Now if I could just find someone with images of the faces…
Added link to all the new faces.

About 1,200-1,400 or so, maybe more.
Source: TP (buy>salvage>sell=profit)
Very little effort; maybe an hour or two each day to update orders, salvage and sell.
It was a bug introduced back when they released Wintersday.
It has been reported in-game and in the bugs forum many times since then.
They’ve made no response or acknowledgement of any kind on the matter.
It has still not been fixed and I do not think we should expect it to be any time soon considering their history with fixing bugs, let alone “small” ones like this…sadly.

I agree with your suggestion. However, as the system of using the hair vs total kits is not properly designed for what the game has become with its wardrobe and appearance additions, and adding glow color to the Self-Style Hair Kit could also cause additional issues as noted above, I’ll add this re-post to your suggestion as it addresses the core issue of appearance customization limitations.
From: Gemstore Items suggestion thread
From Ronah Lynda.2496’s suggestion thread.
Makeover Kits merged into the Hero Panel
A summary of details in the request:
- Makeover/hair kits removed from the Gem Store
- Adjustments require Alteration Charges which are added at the same cost/amount as Transmutation Charges to the Gem Store
- Charges are used on a ‘per-feature-adjustment’ basis
My reasons for supporting this request:
I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase “charges” (or whatever) to make frequent changes to my appearance. If charges are priced like current Transmutation Charges then I would welcome them and buy them often. As it is currently, needing to spend far too much for a single kit to make a single adjustment to my appearance causes me to not purchase any.
If I were charged on a per-feature-adjustment basis, I would make changes and tweaks constantly. This ‘fee per adjustment’ plan would result in plenty of appearance charges being used. Spending a ton of gems for a full kit just to tweak the color of my sylvari’s glow so it will match her new armor color scheme…no thanks, not buying those. I’d rather make a new character than buy a kit to tweak one small detail on an existing one.
This would allow for individual changes to be made as needed at a single charge per change instead of the system as it is now where one would need an entire Total Makeover Kit just to change your glow color so it goes with your new hair color or armor dye scheme.

They mean “clear chat” as in “remove all entered text”. It’s about emptying the content of the chatbox and not the opacity of its background.
I remember trying to /clear early on in the game and being disappointed when it returned “Invalid or unrecognized command”
Personally, I would use it frequently.
I’ve always hated having to manually add them to contacts to then block them. At least now blocking also hides their emotes instead of their being able to spam away or even chat in emotes knowing they couldn’t be blocked.
I usually try to taunt them into saying something in chat so I could block them easier than typing their name out in contacts. Usually a simple “Hey, blahblah” is enough to get them to stop and say “Yeah?” so I can block them quickly.
Interactive names in emotes is long overdue though.
I will be exploring the whole map (excluding orr and Kessex) all over again for many weeks and finally experience the world as I’ve wanted to since the game first came out.
It really is a shame that I will not be able to experience the gorgeous zone of Kessex Hills that I loved with the new camera controls due to it being gone forever. I can’t even go into that zone anymore as it just makes me so sad to see what became of it.

Sorry for that then. It has been a very long time since I linked mine so I could not recall exactly what information was required from the GW1 account to link them. Was worth a shot though.
Probably got caught up in the WTfast banning issue yesterday and were unbanned before you even tried logging in so were unaware of the whole thing taking place.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Banned-for-gold-selling-what-the-hell
I’ve also seen the Heroic Chest sent out to people who get action reversed on their account as a kind of, “Sorry for the inconvenience”, or that’s what I’ve always interpreted it as being anyway.
My question is what if your “Auto attack” is set to a skill other than skill #1… will taunt make the player only use sill #1 or will it actually make them use what skill is set as auto attack. And what if an auto attack skill is not set?
That’s exactly what I’ve been wondering since I saw the info on taunt.
The individual items are account bound and usable by all characters on your account (instead of Soulbound, which is to one character), so you can safely place them in your bank and then retrieve them from there with any other character.
Note, however, that only heavy armor wearing professions can equip those heavy armor pieces.
If the actual issue is that you intended to select a light or medium armor set and not the heavy armor set, then you may want to contact support and explain the situation to them and see if they can help out.

If it’s just that you cannot recall your GW1 login details, or no longer have access to the email address used there, then you may want to consider the option of linking your GW1 account to your GW2 account to reset it.
I think you only need to note a character’s name on the account and know the GW1 cdkey and not the actual login details, but once you link your GW1 account to your GW2 account then the GW1 account login is replaced and will be identical to your GW2 account login info.
It may require that your GW1 account have the Eye of the North expansion activated on it for it to link, but I don’t think that is required to link them.
You can initiate linking by visiting the My Account link up by your login at the top of this page or clicking this: https://account.guildwars2.com and then selecting Link Accounts on the left side and then follow onscreen instructions.

Interesting. My download yesterday was 190MB.
And in a strange coincidence, I noticed it said I had 178 files remaining after having downloaded 178MB. Thought that was weird.
I just threw some on real quick and ended up with:
Celestial
Midnight Ice
Winter Frost
Electro Blue
Electro Blue is much more expensive than the others, which are also pretty expensive, but there are cheaper dyes that are pretty close in appearance and may match the ice on the rifle better.
I made a human male to test out some ideas and it seems that adding some elements of the zodiac armor to other sets could work.
Right now I’m looking at the cultural falconers chest (right) with some zodiac pieces, or maybe the magitech coat (left).
It isn’t liking my attaching an image right now, grr.
Oh well, no more attaching images I guess. Hasn’t worked really since the restructuring.
Here’s the pic on my Imgur instead.

It’s one of my favorite minis to use, but I only use it when I am not around other people as I know its sound effects can be quite annoying to many, though not to myself.
I do not think the volume of specific minis should be altered at all on a global scale. Instead, I feel that the volume of minis should be on its own volume slider, or at least coupled in with dialogue volume slider. Those who find some mini sounds annoying can choose to lower their volume or mute them instead of forcing lower mini sound effects on everyone across the game.
Then again, I do not mind most mini sounds, but I absolutely cannot stand NPC chatter due to their constantly repeating and bugging out (cutting out mid-sentence, multiple lines playing over each other real fast and repeating, etc), so I keep dialogue sound muted anyway and this would cause mini sounds to also be muted if it were grouped in with dialogue audio.
So I guess it would be best for all player preferences to simply have mini audio on its own volume slider, though this is far from the first time such a change has been suggested/requested.
