And that is what is heard practically all day, every day in the Rata Sum marketplace (bank, TP, accountancy waypoint area). I cannot speak on if it happens in other city locations as often as well.

It needs to be altered to no longer make this noise which is so heavily abused for the sake of ruining other players’ activities (like playing of instruments for an audience among others).

I cannot comprehend how it has been around and abused for this long without being fixed in one of these patches.

Artifacts?

in Account & Technical Support

StinVec.3621

Very interesting thread you linked. I’ll dig around on the issue some more.

Looking at all that has been tried, and seeing that it is GW2 specific and does not seem related to the game files in the installation folder (as they have been wiped and reinstalled), it may be related to the local.dat game preferences file which does not get removed with a game uninstallation, nor checked/fixed in a game repair scan.

That person mentioned this as having been tried already:
4. Deleted GW2 .dat files.

But they do not list the names of the .dat files that they deleted so I am not sure if they already tried clearing their local.dat preferences file. They may have only deleted the .dat files in the installation directory and not the local.dat file stored elsewhere.

Considering the issues others experienced with the graphics settings after some game updates, I would recommend removing the local.dat file so it can be replaced with a new one.

You could also first try lowering all in-game graphics down to their lowest settings and see if the artifacts persist. Then raise them up one at a time to see if it is linked to a specific setting (as well as settings in your CCC to see if a specific setting there is causing the problem).

If needed:

Delete the local.dat file
Deleting this file will also cause you to lose your saved game settings (graphics, stored login data, etc). If you rely on your stored login info to log in, make sure you can recall what your login info is as the stored login info is also cleared.

The quickest way to do this is to:

  • Ensure your game is completely closed.
  • Hold your Windows Key and press ‘F’ to open your Windows Search.
  • Search for “Local.dat”. 2 files may be found.
  • Ignore the “Local.dat” file that is in the game installation folder if one is found there.
  • Delete the “Local.dat” file that resides at:
    “C:\Users\YourComputerUserName\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2”
  • Load up your game normally and see if the artifacts persist.
  • You will notice that your settings are reverted to default. You should reconfigure your game settings once again to your preference.

Artifacts?

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Requested your thread be moved to the Tech Support forum so it can be sure to get more help from people who assist with these issues.

As for the issue, I would first run a -repair on your game client to see if it is related to a damaged game file that would then be repaired.

Afterward, if the issue persists, I would do a proper full removal and cleanup of your AMD drivers and CCC software. Then do a reinstall of the latest non-beta drivers.

Those are the first two things I would recommend.

Repair steps if needed:

Check the game for errors and repair it

  • Close your game completely.
  • Next, make a copy of your Gw2 game shortcut and rename it “GW2 Repair” or to something that you will recognize it for being only for running a repair on your GW2 installation.
  • Now, right-click this “Gw2 Repair” shortcut and click on “Properties”.
  • On the “Shortcut” tab look in the “Target:” field, you should see:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2” or wherever you have Guild Wars 2 installed.
  • After the closing quotation marks in this line put a single space and then after that space add -repair
It will look like this but with your GW2 install location:
    “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2” -repair
  • Hit OK after making this change.
  • Run this repair shortcut. Your game will run through a repair cycle and fix any damaged files it finds.
  • After it runs through, start the game using the normal GW2 game shortcut (not the repair shortcut) and see if the issue persists.

Time to refocus and clarify GW2's goals?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Hands down, the thing people have been lamenting the absolute very most over the last two years is lack of end game content and options; something which Anet have been knocking out of the park with Season 2 of the LS. Players complained (maybe rightfully so) about lack of permanent end-game content, then as soon as that is remedied they start having issues with everything else, completely forgetting their previous focus.

I never complained about endgame or lack thereof — until they started tampering with my endgame: creating alts. The trait system redesign is the worst of it, but elements of NPE and LS2 have contributed, and as a result I won’t be buying any new character slots. Even though I’d like to.

No new races, no new professions, no new weapons, no new weapon skills.

Too kitten much ‘no’ for a two-year old MMO.

Dead on with my feelings and situation. My endgame was alts – creating, outfitting (not in outfits), adventuring…I didn’t even pay much attention to my alt’s level. I had that much fun roaming the world. That was destroyed. I, too, will also continue to not buy any more new character slots because of this.

  • no new playable races
  • no new professions
  • no new weapon types
  • no new weapon skills
  • no new available weapons for existing professions
  • no new non-gimmick, full-size zones for exploration (like the rest of the world)
  • no new full armor (non-outfit) sets released in months

With their having actively destroyed the areas of the game that I found enjoyment in, and with the continuing lack of the above-mentioned elements, I feel there is very little left keeping the remaining (tiny) bit of interest I have in the game’s future alive.

I’ve even stopped doing dailies over the last couple weeks, where previously I had missed maybe a handful total since launch. No longer able to enjoy venturing out into the world with a new alt for an adventure, and even no longer interested in putting the minimal effort needed to finish the daily, I’ve actually found myself resorting to sitting at the TP making many times more gold than I ever did out in the world. Just managed to go from zero (converted it all to gems before the gem exchange update) to 1k gold in 2-3 weeks. I see now why so many hang out at the TP all day.
Sadly, my wrist can’t take much more of that. :\

With my constant outfitting and re-outfitting all of my existing and new alts, I was frequently a bit short on gold. Now that I cannot enjoy alts anymore, I have more gold than I’d ever need. :\ How sadly ironic:
- I was too busy having fun to make the amount of money I needed when I needed it.
- Now I’m busy making more money than I’d have ever needed now that I no longer need it since there isn’t any fun left to be had and it’ll likely sit in my wallet long after I no longer play anymore due to lack of any of the things on that aforementioned list.

I usually don’t type out what I think or how I feel (or, rather, actually post what I type out and instead just +1 posts by users that mirror my feelings) as I know from the past that what I (‘we’, collectively) say really does not mean anything or have any effect at all on the changes they’ve made.

I very much would like to know what their plans are for the future of this game so that I may once again be excited to play it and look forward to what is to come…if it is something good that is to come, that is.

Deleted message and quotes

in Forum and Website Bugs

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

It always used to remove any messages that included a quote of a deleted message. The quoter would then receive a PM stating that their message was removed as it quoted a message that had been deleted (by a user or a moderator).

However, this behavior changed within the last 2-3 months to where messages that contained a quote from a deleted post would persist instead of also getting removed. I’m not sure if this change was intentional or not.

Blocking mail

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I agree.

Also, just as it is quite difficult to block someone who has an accented character in their name that sends mail to you, it’s also quite hard to block someone who spams emotes in chat when they have accented characters in their name since you cannot right-click emote names to block them.

One must search out the proper accented character via out-of-game means and then manually enter the character’s name with the accented character to the contacts list to then be able to block them.

We should be able to block the sender of an emote/mail without having to manually hunt down the accented character out-of-game to then manually add them to the contacts list to then be able to block them.

Either accented characters should no longer be permitted for use in character names whatsoever (meaning all characters currently using accented characters would be forced to rename), or emotes/mails should have the same ‘right-click > block’ ability on the names as available elsewhere in the game.

You must rename your character...

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Greetings, GM Talon.

I realize this thread is about player characters that are using GW1 NPC names, but PCs using GW2 NPC character names is also an issue that needs attention.

I have seen many player characters in GW2 who are named as prominent GW2 NPCs, though they tend to use the vowels with accent marks to get around the filter or slightly misspell the NPC’s name. I have reported many of these as inappropriate character names in the past, though I still see them running around months later and even see them still impersonating the respective NPC in starter zones to “mess with new players”, requesting donations for the Seraph (as Logan), etc.

It has even gotten to the point that, with the NPE blocking off the personal story until level 10, these NPC impersonators are hanging out in starter areas telling new players that they need to send them coin to begin their personal stories as the new player is low level and does not know that it unlocks at level 10 now instead of continuing right away.

Request:
Can you please add the NPC names using any and all accented vowels to the naming filter and perhaps also add slight misspellings (and perhaps combinations of the accented vowels and slight misspellings) of the NPC names to the filter as well?

Also, please see to it that those responsible for naming violation review are more diligent and timely in forcing renaming of player characters that have been reported for having NPC character names (using accented vowels or slight misspellings). As I mentioned, I know I have personally reported many of these impersonators often for months, yet they are still running around confusing new players and have not had to rename.

Thank you.

I still feel that all armor should have an additional checkbox added to them which allows the ‘extra detail/artistic flair’ elements of an armor’s appearance to be toggled off/on. This way the extra elements can be offered on both gender’s versions of the armors and players can then choose to display them or not.

Censor not working on HUD...

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I believe you are describing the word bubbles (if enabled) that appear above characters in the world when they type something. If so, then yes, these have never been appropriately censored along with chatbox text, sadly. It is something that really should not have been overlooked when designing the censor feature.

Due to the censor only affecting text displayed in the chatbox, perhaps they will correct this one day so that the text that is displayed in the word bubble is acquired from the chatbox after the censor has altered the text, instead of from the source being sent to the chatbox which does not receive the censoring.

As it is:
Source > Word Bubble (uncensored)
Source > Chatbox (censored due to chatbox settings)

As it should be:
Source > Chatbox (censored due to chatbox settings) > Word Bubble (censored)

I still need to go to a merchant to sell all of that random junk and useless bag clutter that every single one of them are more than happy to buy from me without hesitation.

Also, as much as I’d like to have my goto merchant, it does not matter which merchant I visit as they all pay the same amount for my junk. This means that there is no point in exercising merchant loyalty due to one offering better prices for my junk than everyone else who also desires to buy it. A merchant is a merchant. :\

'Search' option in Unlocked Dyes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I agree, Zephyra, searching by name would be a very welcome feature.
I support your request.

Regarding the favorites list discussion in the thread:

Unfortunately, the number of different dyes that can be added to the quick access (favorites) bar is only 8. Having it raised to 11 would be fantastic though, especially since there is room for 11 to fit there.

As there is space for 11, I initially thought it being limited to 8 was due to a bug, though apparently it was not as it remained at 8 with space for 11 even after the Hero Panel revamp.

I constantly need to decide which ones I want to hang on to as a favorite. Considering all of the factors that cause dyes to not appear as the same color, I often need to use 9 or 10 slightly different shades of a dye hue just to get an entire look to match as best as possible across all pieces. This means I need to leave several off of the favorite list.

I also really hate how adding a new favorite dye when the list is already at the max causes your 8th favorite dye to get replaced. It’s quite a pain trying to search for which one was just removed to add the new one simply because you didn’t realize your favorites bar was already full.

I’d love for the favorite list to be boosted to the full 11 dye slots.

I also think it would be handy to have an additional bar added below/above your favorites that automatically has all dyes currently used on your armor added to it, no matter how many there are.

Sure. Go to your TP and enter or paste this case-sensitive phrase into the Search box in the top left above the search categories/bags:

I am Evon Gnashblade

Note the lowercase ‘a’ in “am”. Each other word starts with a capital letter.
Upon entering the final letter ‘e’ at the end of “Gnashblade” you’ll switch to the smaller listing view.

Enter it again to return to normal view mode.

TP 2.0 - Interactive Dead Zone In Listings

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Messed around with looking at what was causing it a bit more and updated the OP and pic with it.

The cause of this dead zone is that the scroll bar interaction element of the trade window’s sell listings does not get dismissed with the closing of the item trade info window. This element remaining causes the dead zone.

Should have noticed sooner that the dead zone was the same size and in the same position as the scroll bar of the item window’s sell listings. Kind of annoyed at myself for not making the connection right away. grr :\

TP 2.0 - Interactive Dead Zone In Listings

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Since the new TP was introduced I noticed two areas of the TP that are interactive dead zones where the mouse cannot interact with the listings.

Dead zones are not active until a trade window is brought up and dismissed.

Updated info on cause

  • I’ve found that the cause is that the scroll bar elements of the trade window’s buy and sell listings do not get dismissed with the closing of the item trade info window.

Once any item trade window is displayed and closed, the dead zones becomes apparent and remain until the TP is closed and reopened or the user switches to the gem store/currency exchange tabs and back to the TP.

They will return once again whenever an item trade window is brought up and dismissed…so pretty much always active for people looking at the current prices on a lot of listings.

These areas are dead zones on the entire BLTP no matter which listings you are viewing in any of the available tabs: ‘Home’ , ‘Buy Items’, ‘Sell Items’, and ‘My Transactions’

Gem store and currency exchange do not have this dead zone.

Dead zones are present in both standard and ‘Gnashblade’ modes.

Reproduction:

  • Open TP
  • Select any tab to display some item listings (or items already displayed on the Home tab)
  • Click on any listing to make the trade window pop up
  • Close this trade window via ‘X’ or clicking outside the window
  • Dead zones are now active

The listing no longer being highlighted while moving your mouse slowly around these areas is a dead giveaway that you found the right areas.

how can you set path for pics?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

You cannot. However, you can download and use an alternate screen capture program and designate within those where the screenshots are saved to.

Though be sure to either unbind your in-game screenshot key if using one, or at least make sure your in-game key and the key used by the screen capture program are not the same. If your game remains set to Print Screen and your screen cap program also takes a screenshot with the Print Screen key, each press will cause two images to be captured; one by GW2 to the undesired folder and one by the screen capture program to your desired folder. No need to have duplicate images in two places on your computer.

This is also how some people take screenshots that include the cursor and hover pop-ups on the screen. In-game screenshot does not capture the cursor and hover pop-ups while other programs will due to capturing exactly what is displayed on-screen.

Also, other screen capture programs will take higher quality screenshots of exactly how your screen appears. GW2 does not take quality screenshots unless you set the BMP command line argument so it takes BMP images instead of JPG images. BMP files are quite large though, while alternate screen capture software can take PNG images and other formats to retain image quality without the bloated size of BMP images that GW2 would use for higher quality screenshots.

StinVec.3621

It has been suggested before on these forums, but that was 8 months ago and it didn’t get a lot of comments from forum members.

I would love to have different types of mail agents, such as:

  • Golem (like near the Rata Sum gate in Metrica Province where a golem delivers a message to an NPC about his cloak of invisibility…that ‘brrrrt’ as he runs away is hilarious)
  • Rabbit
  • Hawk (that screech as they pass over)
  • Owl/Baby owl griffon

As well as a different agent when selling or receiving mail while under water, like a dolphin. A pigeon flying under water is just plain weird.

One of the comments in that linked thread also suggested being able to designate one of our mini pets as the delivery agent. That’d be pretty nice too.

Mouse Cursor: An option to change color?

Many people use YoloMouse to resolve the cursor visibility issue. Can also add custom cursors instead of the included ones.

Silmar Alech.4305 has a good video showing their custom cursors that are modified versions of the in-game cursors.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Mouse-Pointer/4480667

Personally, I prefer to use other custom cursors. There are many cursors that are readily available online and free that you can search for and use if you prefer different ones that fit your taste better.

edit
Um…apparently the OP deleted their somewhat long and well-written post asking about options for enhancing cursor visibility.

The death cam spinning bug should be fixed. It will go out at some point.

That is great to hear! Thank you for your hard work and responses. It is appreciated very much.

If you have a moment and are able to, could you also comment on if the issue of the downed-state camera zooming in completely upon being downed is or will be corrected again as well please?

Turn camera when mouse turns

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I know a lot of people use AutoHotKey and run a script that binds the right mouse button into a toggle so you don’t have to constantly hold it down to mouse steer.

Some use it due to physical limitations of their person (missing digits, crippling arthritis, etc), some use it due to having an unreliable/failing right mouse button due to having to hold it down almost the entire time they play, and there are others that use it simply to not stress their hands out or develop stress issues in their hands from maintaining the mouse button down.

This is one .ahk file many use that binds your middle-mouse click to enable it. A single click activates mouse steer and another single click (or just clicking your actual right mouse button) will disable it.

This is useful so you can disable it quickly to interact with dialogue boxes or your UI and then re-enable it when you want to mouse steer again.

It is only functional when GW2 is the active window so even if you enable it while in-game and then go to another app or your Windows desktop then your mouse will function normally there. Return to the game and it will still be in the state you left it at; activated or deactivated.

Think of it as similar to your autorun key where hitting that allows you to release your forward motion key and remain in forward motion until you hit it again. Instead, you are hitting your mouselook key so your mouse steering remains active until you hit it again.

Copy this and paste it into a new .txt file and rename it to be .ahk instead of .txt.

#NoEnv
#SingleInstance Force
SetTitleMatchMode, 3
#IfWinActive, Guild Wars 2

MouseLook = 1

MButton::
Gosub, ToggleCursor
Return

ToggleCursor:
GetKeyState, state1, RButton
If state1 = U
{
Send {RButton Down}
MouseLook = 1
}
else
{
Send {RButton Up}
MouseLook = 0
}
Return

The “MButton::” part is the designated activation key (middle mouse button). I’m sure you can edit that to another key if you prefer, but clicking the middle mouse button is very handy for quick activation/deactivation.

Just need to download and install AHK and then run this .ahk file when you play GW2 to no longer have to hold the mouse button down to steer.

Sound bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

If you need them, here are some steps and screenshots that can assist with making the changes to your audio settings Mr. Crichton diagnosed as solving this issue. I hope they help.

Win7/8:

  • Control Panel
  • Sound
  • Hit Configure button in the dialogue box.
  • Select the appropriate Stereo or Headphones option.

Win XP:

  • Control Panel
  • Sounds and Audio Devices
  • Volume Tab
  • Lower “Speaker Settings” area
  • Advanced button
  • Then under the “Speaker Setup” drop-down menu, select “Stereo Headphones”.

Also, if you are using a Logitech (or other) headset and are running the configuration software that came with it, you may want to check to see if it is running in Surround Sound mode, or if you have the “Surround Sound” button enabled inside that software. This can conflict with the speaker setup settings at the device driver level and potentially override the stereo changes made there.

Heart Bug Help Paenula Train the Troops

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

As for the arena portion, you must approach through one of the two gates and you will get a pop-up that offers what you want to fight. Ignore the NPC at the head area within the arena, he’s worthless.

Immediately stop moving when the pop-up appears, or move just far enough into the arena so you are past where the gate drops on the entrance. Moving any further in will dismiss the pop-up and you have to go all the way back out and back in to get it again.

With the pop-up on your screen, you should choose an option of what to fight. Be sure to not move at all until the “fuse” countdown is gone, the dialogue disappears and the gates slam shut behind you. Moving at any other time can cause the enemies to not spawn as you moved out of the real tiny activation area near the entrance gate.

So basically:

  • Barely enter into the arena slightly beyond one of the entrance gates so you are slightly inside the gate but no further.
  • Pop-up appears – stop moving once you inch in and are inside the gate
  • Select your opponents
  • A second or two after the pop-up disappears the gate will slam shut behind you and you can then proceed to kill the stuff you selected to fight
  • Be sure to not move at all between the appearance of the pop-up enemy selection and the actual enemies spawning or it’ll cancel the fight – inching in to be sure you are actually past the gate is ok but be careful or you will dismiss the pop-up

Exit out a little ways from one of the entrances and then return through it to get the fight dialogue to pop up again.

The whole thing has always been very touchy and buggy. Sometimes the gates slam shut but no enemies appear and you have to waypoint out of the arena. Other times the gate shuts in front of you instead of behind you if you were not just inside of the arena beyond the gate. This results in your being stuck outside of the arena and you have to wait for the NPCs to kill the enemies for the arena to reset…which can take a while.

Map closed mid Teq fight

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I and 60+ other people had quite a laugh in map chat last week when the “too few players” pop up came onto our screens half way through killing Shadow Behemoth.

Considering every portal in the portal phases had champions spawned on them due to how many people were there scaling up the defenders of them, I doubt there were fewer than my projected number of at least 60 taking SB down. A sea of name tags also helped support my estimation of the population being that high, and that’s just in the swamp – who knows how many others were elsewhere in the zone.

Sadly, this has actually happened more than once.

Magic carpet on asura and charr

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

There are several issues with the carpet. The stuck on your feet as you run around bug (which causes it to kick up vertically and back down into the ground with every step) happens regardless of race.

Also, asura characters have the added issue where, instead of their eyelids blinking down and up as normal, while riding the carpet their actual eyeballs roll downward into the socket and back up instead of the eyelids. I’ve not seen this occurring on other races though, so it may not be an issue on the others.

There are also several other issues with them. I would not recommend purchasing it if any of these bugs bother you as they are unlikely to be corrected any time soon, if ever, due to the common practice of letting bugs like this go unfixed.

Sweet FX/FXAA Tool Help

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I noticed with the FXAA Tool that, after having been using it for a long time prior to the new addition of the /bin folder, copying the files from the installation folder into the /bin folder would not allow the game to start. It didn’t seem to like the copying of the old files to the new folder as the game profile in the program itself needed to be directed to that /bin folder so copying the files there was not helping as the program wasn’t directed to the /bin folder. I needed to actually re-select the bin folder from within the tool and have it create the files there and reconfigure the settings again.

Regarding the SweetFX, I’ve read of people saying you need to move all 3 of the files into the /bin folder (d3d9.dll, dxgi.dll, injector.ini).

However, I’ve also read of others still crashing after doing this and they instead had to move their entire /SweetFX/ folder to /bin/SweetFX/ to stop the instant crashing. Perhaps try this to see if it helps.

Also, be sure to run your game as an administrator in your game shortcut/exe’s properties > compatibility tab to see if that helps resolve any startup issues for both tools.

Another thing that could be causing a write permission issue is if your game is installed to your “C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2” directory. As Windows handles this folder differently (the cause of issues for many games), it is highly recommended to move that folder to another directory on your computer (like “C:\Guild Wars 2”) to resolve permission issues.

Actually, I’d prefer it if they’d throw blue, purple, yellow and orange glowing masks into the gem store right this minute so my other characters can get their matching colors!

I think The Riven is finally nearing completion thanks to this new green one.

What is causing this visual thing?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

It is the Ambient Occlusion setting in your NVidia control panel.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Environment-Shadow-detail-problem/4430251

It was likely that it was enabled and you tried disabling it to try to fix the problem.
However, changes to this setting require a game restart to take effect. This would be why you noticed the problem going away upon your restarting your game and not back when you disabled the setting.

Option to showcase underwater weapon

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

To go a little further, it would be interesting to see a “/showcase” command or a “Showcase” option in the right-click menu of an equipped weapon. Doing so puts your character into a unique animation with the selected weapon that showcases its wondrous facets. It would also bring up a small on-screen listing of equipped weapons that you can switch between instead of doing it manually on each one from the Hero Panel item.

I loathe the idea of naming the option as “Show Off”, “Brag”, “Gloat”, etc. It shouldn’t be a “Look at me and what I’ve got that you don’t!” kind of utility, but more of a “Let us all share in the glory of this wonderful creation!” kind.

Can you remove the light from Cobalt

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

The thing is I am very low on Transmutation charges and I Transmuted it from the Ebonblade, and it would be a waste of 2 charges just to get it back to Ebonblade.
That is why I am asking, if anyone knows how to turn the light from it off, since it is a player only thing.

Basically, the light that is cast by Cobalt onto the surrounding area is also visible to nearby players, so it is not just the owner that sees the illumination on the surrounding area.

Due to this being a global effect, it cannot be disabled locally by making adjustments to your client graphics settings. Due to the way lighting is designed in the game, this light cannot be disabled on a per client basis, much like you cannot currently disable or hide spell effects (let alone specific ones) that are generated by you and other players.

As it is likely something that would need a complete redesign of the lighting engine, I do not think that you can expect to be able to disable the environment illumination that Cobalt and other environment illuminating weapons/armor generates for quite a long time, if ever.

Underwater fighting is so underrated

in Living World

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Sideways/vertical movement feeling sluggish still bugs me underwater… that and the camera lock thing (you can’t go past vertical). If it played more like Descent I would bother more often, but that might be dangerous territory

I loved that game so much. They designed that so fiendishly perfect that I still use memories of my time playing it for reference when working with real and virtual world spatial orientation, structure and craft design, as well as in game world/map/level designing.

Material level / tier info missing...

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I’ve not seen anyone else mentioning it yet, Poitus, so do not worry about not finding an existing thread on it as I do not think there is one.

This has been quite an issue for me since the 9-9 patch.

Considering several crafting items share the same icon as “junk” items, and that junk items have such a small info box due to also not having any info to show, it is very easy to mistake these items as also being junk. If I happen to be manually selling or trashing items in a hurry, then it can lead to clearing out things that I might have rather hung on to.

Most of the ones that I’ve noticed are several tiers of the venom and bone types.
Here are some of the ones I’ve encountered that I just snapped.

Camera moves when you are dead...

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

This is a known issue. Thank you for making sure that we are aware of it though!

Hi, Branden. Thanks for the polite and courteous acknowledgement here in this thread. Little showings of communication like this are huge, at least to me, and it is appreciated very much.

Would you happen to be able to also comment on the other camera issue experienced when entering the downed-state, please?

The camera had zoomed in completely upon entering downed state early on in the game, though it had gotten removed so it would no longer zoom in all the way upon entering the downed state after a lot of requests for it to not zoom in any longer.

Unfortunately, earlier this year it was re-enabled again and is a source of much frustration and the pleas for it to be disabled again have been voiced all year.

Was the return of the previously disabled camera zooming in upon entering the downed-state an intended re-enabling earlier this year, or a bug that snuck by?

Can we expect a re-disabling of this zooming in at some point in the future, perhaps at the same time as when the dead-state camera rotation change gets re-adjusted? Or is it not something that is considered a bug and we should accept it as working as intended as there are no plans to re-disable it?

Any thoughts you can offer on this related camera issue topic would also be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Molten Sickle Axe and Pick - Offers?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

The mining pick was not initially reintroduced at the same time as the new molten tools being offered on the gem store. After a day or so passed with several requests for it to also be made available again, and that it was logical to offer it again at the same time as the new molten tools despite having been available about a month or so ago, ANet tossed it onto the gem store again. This is why it is not included in the news post that was only highlighting the new molten tools.

As for how long they will all be in the store, they’ve normally kept them in for a week to 10 days. When it gets down to about 3 or 4 days left then this gets stated on the item’s listing as having that many days left in the gem store.

When it gets down to 24 hours remaining then it switches to an exact countdown timer until it will no longer be available. After they are gone from the store then players desiring any of them will need to wait around an uncertain amount of time for them to be temporarily available again.

Not showing Level 60 Charr shoulders.....

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

You may want to check if your helm is of the kind that obscures shoulder armor. The shoulder description usually says “This item is obscured by another” or something similar down near where the level requirement is listed for the shoulders.

I think the helm even has an info area that says “This helm is currently obscuring another piece of armor” in its description. Not sure on that part though.

If so, either choose to hide your helm and keep the shoulders as they are, or find another helm that does not obscure your shoulder armor.

Can offer more assistance if you list the name of the helm and armor pieces you are currently using as well as the weight class of your armor (light, medium, heavy).
