Yeah, the post is worded improperly.
The word “tomorrow” is misplaced. It should be after “Feature Pack” and not between “11:59 a.m.” and “April 16th”.
How it is:
It should be:
PT/PDT = Server Time
Change your in-game clock to display server time and you’ll know what time it is PDT.
Easiest way without checking websites and other methods for figuring out your time differences relative to PDT.
Patch will likely be some time between 9AM PDT and 3PM PDT tomorrow (April 15th PDT).
Log in between when the patch hits and noon (11:59AM) the next day (April 16th PDT) to get them.
So they are basically giving everyone about 24 hours from when the patch hits if it hits just shy of noon (11:59AM) tomorrow, April 15th.
So, in PDT/server time:

Free charges? What do you speak of?! Talk sense man!
It’s on the login bulletin. 5 free transmutation charges if you log in between the implementation of the patch and 1159 pacific time tomorrow.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/log-in-tomorrow-for-free-transmutation-charges/
Ah, that news page, not the other news page. Really silly site design to have several news areas.
Thank you for providing the link.
On the news page I see:
Foostival 2014, a Celebration
Tournament of Legends Sign Ups Now Open
March: Daily Sales in the Gem Store!
etc
Nothing about 5 free T Charges.
I’m seeing several people mentioning 5 free T charges…but nobody has provided a citation as yet. Where is this mentioned?
My asura ranger, Xevoxia, has always found the organic to be just as fascinating as the mechanical. She uses her time in the field with an organic companion to take notes on the intricacies of behaviors displayed by the various species she comes across in Tyria. The oddness of their readily following her and obeying her commands, coupled with the occasional flat out refusal to engage other creatures when commanded in some situations, has led her studies into one focused on free will.
Due to the unpredictability of most organics, and their actions occasionally veering from what logic dictates, she strives to completely analyze the concept of free will in organic and mechanical creatures and then apply it to her grand experiment; to attempt to successfully meld the organic and mechanical into a single coherent creature free from most, if not all, limitations – an Orgamechoid.
As you’re just starting out, let’s get one thing straight. This is not WoW. There are no Classes, they are called Professions in GW2.
….I wonder if this was something done due to Legal reasons? They even call “Buffs”, “Boons” and many other things that seems like they could use the exact same name (‘fantasy names’) but they chose to make it quite different. Interesting.
Also: NO MOUNTS, EVAR
Get used to running around 24/7 because it keeps you in shape! Notice your toon never gains a pound? Now you know why
WELCOME!!
I’ve seen several ANet employees refer to “professions” as “classes”. Here is one such post that refers to them as “class” and not “profession”. I don’t think it is a big deal and is mostly down to personal preference as to which is used. Calling them “classes” is not ‘wrong’ as it is stated by some.
Regarding mounts, I wouldn’t mind some mounts unique to the GW2 style as long as they do not provide a speed boost or benefit of any kind and are for cosmetic and immersion/lore reasons only.
You must have your audio set to Stereo if you want to hear all sounds within the game.
Configuring your audio device to be surround sound would cause many sounds to not be heard. Unfortunately, many players have encountered this issue and have had to be instructed to configure their audio devices to be stereo instead of surround sound to once again hear all audio within the game. I can supply links to the many threads where players have encountered not hearing elements of audio if you would like, though a general google search for “GW2 surround sound” reveals most of them as well as showing the ongoing conversations regarding GW2 and a lack of surround sound since beta.
I really do not know why GW2 does not support surround sound.

Removed what I said. Sorry, I was wrong. It is a one time allotment. I hope the Chalice gets reinstated to grant Rank Points prior to the 15th so players wanting them for the Transmutation Charges granted per Rank will get them. I’m sure 5k rank points would help bump some players into the next rank for an additional charge.
Even after the 15th, players would still get the trans charges per rank. It isnt a one-time handout, and unless I’m mistaken, it’s now one of the rewards for ranking in pvp as you can no longer earn/use glory.
I’m being slightly optimistic that the 15th is when the chalice is in fact fixed as I’ve got one myself (thanks to the 1/2 off deluxe upgrade) and I really really really really really really need that inventory/bank slot for more profitable things.
That is what I thought and had stated initially in my response. However, it has been stated in the blog post that it is a one time allotment. I edited my post to reflect my noticing this statement so that I was not giving incorrect information. Transmutation Charges for Ranks is a one time allotment. I cannot find any other statements regarding Transmutation Charges continuing to be awarded for Ranks gained after the 15th.
If you have a citation of a dev stating that Transmutation Charges would continue to be granted for Ranks gained after the 15th, I would like to see it, please.

If you are playing on a Windows PC make sure you have a web browser set to be the default for opening web pages.
Also make sure you are running your game as an administrator so the game has permission to launch the web browser.
Run As Admin
The only musical instrument I would actually buy is a cowbell.
We need more cowbell in this game.
What did Support say when you filed a ticket asking for help resolving the issues you are encountering?
Please take note, the item says it gives a boost to karma in its description, but the actual buff on you after activation does not list karma as one of the elements it boosts. This bug has been reported since it was released but it has not been fixed. It does not seem to give a boost to karma gained.

I’ve encountered skills not firing off after pressing them many times despite no other skills currently being active. So it is not a queued skill issue of a skill being dropped by firing off another skill with higher priority.
Main issue I run into is with traps on my ranger with “Ground Targeting – Fast with Range Indicator” set – I hold the key and get the green ground targeting circle where my cursor is and release the key and no trap gets thrown. I sometimes have to throw traps several times before it actually throws it.
Honestly, I’ve learned to just spam the button until it gets registered for weapon skills since it happens so often. I even manually spam my 1 key (for my bows on ranger) even though I have auto attack enabled on it as it sometimes just stops firing (despite the enemy being only feet in front of me) or fires slower and has a longer delay between shots than it does with my manually telling it to fire repeatedly.
I don’t know how much of the skill drops can be attributed to just latency. It happens often enough to become quite annoying and sometimes rather frustrating.

I’m fairly sure the Black Lion Trading company thread was on the first page 19 hours ago since it’s the current hotbed, but it doesn’t matter. If you only look at the first post of a thread in a forum and think nothing has happened in that thread since when the OP posted it, you’ve been missing a lot
Actually, I think it hasn’t left the first page for the last 7-9 days. Has barely even left the top thread on page 1 in the last 3 days…briefly falls to 2nd and 3rd most recently commented-in thread but quickly shoots to number 1 again.

so they still have not fix it ! !
I’m afraid NOT, based on dozens of emails I received from companies that provides online services notifying me that they have the same problem. That means this problem is kinda international and is quite big.
I believe this is going to a long time, but hopefully it will be fixed before or with the new patch.
I’m not going to dispute the fact that the bug is international, but PC users can use TP fine. Correct me if i’m wrong, but all cider does is translate the windows version of GW2 into a language/series of commands that the Mac can understand. So, if PC users can use TP, shouldn’t the Mac version too? Unless cider is messed up…
Lets say that what I said above is complete nonsense (i’m just guessing). If they fixed the PC version, surely the Mac version could be fixed as well. After all, it IS the same bug…just on different platforms.
A comment on page 5 of what a dev said on reddit explains it pretty well for why it is a mac issue and not Windows.
It really isn’t an explanation to why it’s taken this long to fix though. Every day I work with things such kitten certs and the like, ANet shouldn’t be so stupid to let something like this slide. And no one should be so naive to think that the main issue is that Macs can’t handle it properly. If anything, Mac should be able to handle it better than PC.
The person my response was a reply to did not ask for why it has taken as much time as it has and I never claimed my response was an explanation as to why it has taken as much time as it has. Why did you quote me stating that the linked post “really isn’t an explanation to why it’s taken this long to fix” when that was not even being discussed?
Also, the issue isn’t with Macs, it’s with the Mac Client. The linked comment cited the ANet dev as saying “the Mac client doesn’t deal well with HTTPs certificates changing”, not of Macs not liking it. I know my comment said “for why it is a mac issue and not Windows” and I should not have shortened it to those respective elements and instead specified the word “Client” (Mac Client and Windows Client), instead of just Mac and Windows. This is not a Mac vs PC debate unless people here are turning it into one. If it is becoming a debate of Macs Vs PCs, then that does not belong on these forums and those members should have their posts reported and deleted.

Most know it as “Diminishing Returns”, though one plus to it is that it only gets applied to a single character and not to the entire account (in dungeons it is account, though). So if you hit the DR wall then go to another zone or switch characters entirely and come back to that one later.

That is the only way to correct the issue of some sounds not being heard. Guild Wars 2 does not support surround sound so setting your audio to be stereo is the only way to hear all sounds within the game.
Scarlett’s actually alive! Yeah, I went there!
We find out that there never was a Scarlet and that she was just an illusion generated by Queen Jennah for the purpose of seeing her true agenda realized while maintaining her reputation as being “good” and her throne of power and control. Kasmeer is also revealed as having aided the Queen by assisting with maintaining the Scarlet illusion on a watchwork frame at remote areas where players would encounter a non-holographic form of her. Players killed an illusion (maintained by Kasmeer) just as the Queen wanted us to since the Scarlet character was no longer needed.
Thank you very much. I thought there had already been a thread about account security in the stickies for quite a while so did not check it in my search for the post that was being discussed. It basically being a repost that may include some updated information explains it. Thank you again.
Can I ask what post you two are referring to, please?
same problem but i notice that top of the window of black lion trade post…. it says GEM (0) what does that mean cause before this trade post bug i have more then 5000 gems,,,,, please someone tell me my gems didn’t vanish,,,,,
That is not a zero, that is the letter ‘O’, which is your current hotkey for opening the Trading Post.
…
Although the MEGASERVER launches for the 1-15 level zones at the 15th. If you want a blast in the starting zone I would recommend waiting, most starter zones right now lack some players.
…
Just to point out, that is no longer accurate. They said they are changing the rollout to not affect 1-15 zones, only low-population zones outside of 1-15 zones.
Mildly Agitated Lumbering of the Ettin
or
Of Gods and Grawl
Or, more seriously, anything created by Shriketalon.1937 would be more than welcome.
If you wait then you forgo all of the fun you could be having between now and then. The only difference between making a character prior to the 15th is that it would be locked into the current method of unlocking traits…which really isn’t a bad thing. Characters created after the 15th will follow the new method for trait unlocking. You could always make a 2nd character after the 15th to see if you prefer the changes and then delete/remake your first character that is locked to the current way of advancement.
Summary: Start having fun now.
You’re on a Mac and encountering technical issues with the trading post.
I believe it doesn’t give you anything, but it spawns an item nearby to him that you and anyone else can interact with to gain a buff.
Yes. The item should also offer the option in its right-click menu to “Unlock this appearance” if you didn’t want to delete it. But even right-clicking and hitting destroy while it is in your bank will automatically unlock it in your wardrobe.
(edited by StinVec.3621)
Yes, single use skins that can be used on multiple armor weights will be available for all armor weights in the wardrobe when that skin is unlocked. Feel free to use your ticket and get your gauntlets without worry of it being tied to a specific weight after the wardrobe goes live.
“Single items, such as the Fuzzy Hats and Scarlet’s Spaulders, will be unlocked for your entire account and usable with any armor weight.”
From the last paragraph of the “Collecting Weapon and Armor Skins” section of the wardrobe blog.
It’s different for the Fused Gauntlets. They were added before the rise of universal skins, and once you call the vendor you can choose only one type (light, medioum or heavy) of the skin.
I wish devs could convert unused Fused Gauntlet skins into universal skins as well.
It is not different. You call the vendor and select a skin. Acquiring/using/manually unlocking the skin unlocks it in your wardrobe. The skin that is unlocked in your wardrobe is usable on all armor weights. This was stated.
For mostly mac beta users the tp has been down for 3 days now, I have access to picking up money but nothing else. I read it is related to heartbleed.com, so it seems it isn’t only a mac issue then. There is little your friend can do, is out of our hands. Sadly we are missing out on a few sales, what timing.
It was already stated by ANet that the sales will not be ending today. You will not be “missing out” on any of them.
what happened to the thread the dev posted in talking about this problem ?
i still have this trading post bug it is getting really annoying not being able to use the trading post for this longi think they said they could have a fix for it today?
was the other thread deleted because it will not be fixed to day or something ?
That thread is still there and is linked in my first response regarding Mac users with TP issues. They got the new build an hour ago and Mac users should have their patch soon as long as everything goes ok.
You have tried most of the standard ways of correcting trading post issues.
Can you also:
1) Check for conflicting programs
2) Disable any proxy settings
3) Configure Anti-virus
I always prefer ‘2014/9/4’
I prefer Y/M/D (2014/4/09). It reveals to the reader the sequence of a date in the ideal order from left to right for imagining a time frame of when a date takes place, especially when discussing distant past or future dates (year for relationship to the present year, month for the time of that year, and the day for exactly when in that month).
@OP
Thanks Guhracie for making note of this when it first came up. I quickly picked yet another up. I always say I will keep it empty for when tengu come into the game, but a few weeks go by and I’ve already used it up and then plan to get another to hold permanently, temporarily.
(edited by StinVec.3621)
Yes, they said that since the monthlies are changing (pvp and pve being put in the same monthly category), we’ll only have to finish two to complete this month’s monthly. If you wait until after the 15th to do your monthly, you’ll have to do four, I believe.
I second your statement as being accurate.
…
I just saw on other post that Anet doesn’t ‘tolerate’ ‘Bank Guilds’ so i’m afraid that the mega-server add could impact it somehow, let’s say, by deleting the 1man guilds or something..
…
I would very much like to know who said that and where. If it wasn’t a dev, then they are wrong and just spewing uninformed and baseless speculation to induce undue fear and concern (intentionally or unintentionally).
When the account wallet was being implemented, dev’s actually encouraged players to make a personal guild for storage and more specifically for setting gold aside from their wallet due to the “bank-bank” no longer having the ability to keep gold stored as a safety precaution to prevent accidentally spending more than was intended due to always having all your coin on you.
If it was a dev stating that ANet doesn’t “tolerate bank guilds” then I want to know who it was so we can bring this matter of their changing their stance on “personal” guilds up for serious discussion and to cite the devs of the past who encouraged it.

Me and my wife are both unable to access the gem store. Both running Macbook Pro Early 2011, with Mac OS X 10.9.2.
The latest posts in that thread I linked explains exactly what the issue is and why it is happening for Mac users and a dev stating that a fix is already being worked on. Should probably expect it sometime soon. Hope all of you can get back to a functional TP soon.
Checked the wiki. I never knew of this potential effect.
“This item has a chance of turning you into a ghost.”
Orangensaft, the main concern was of enemy NPCs not attacking while “ghostly”.
Why enemy NPCs (I assume in WvW or just general enemies in PvE) could not see the OP (as in “aggro on and attack”) is still odd. Unless the “enemy NPCs” were yellow. If that is what the OP meant then, OP, that is because they are neutral and will not attack you unless you attack them first. Though the OP probably already knows what enemy “colors” mean due to playing for quite a while.
(edited by StinVec.3621)
That would break the rules.
However, you can disable the “stop attacking on target change” setting in the options and then just spam your tab target key after initiating the autoattack.
Nope. Price is the same.
Also, I tried this on my asura ranger and it had no visual effect. It is possible that it is interacting with something you have equipped or just on human female engineers. I don’t do engi (tried many, many times) so I can’t test to see if it is species/gender/profession related.
Very interesting. Never eaten one of those.
PS. Now I can say “rabbit” in spanish.
Mac users recently encountering issues with the TP, please see this thread for a response from a dev on the matter as it is specific to the Mac Beta Client.
As a bonus, the dev response also mentions a fix for ongoing TP issues in the Windows client. Not sure which “ongoing issues” specifically, but should solve some issues for some Windows users as well when the fix goes in.
Mac or Windows PC?
If Mac, please see this thread for a dev response on the matter.
If Windows:
Run As Admin
If the issue still occurs:
Clear the game cache
In addition to ‘Running As Administrator’ helping with many issues other than just the TP, most TP-specific issues are primarily related to some temporary GW2 files where removing them will allow them to be recreated and the TP to function properly again.
The quickest way to clear the GW2 Cache is to:
If your search for “gw2cache” does not produce the folder I mentioned, then you will need to enable hidden files and folders in order to delete this cache folder.
Make hidden files visible and clear the game cache
—note—
By “window menus” I mean up at the top of the window where it says “File Edit View Tools Help”. If that bar does not display in your window for you along the top, then click the drop-down arrow next to the word “Organize” and then click on “Layout” and select “Menu bar” to enable showing of the menus (attached image #2).Another way to do Steps 3, 4 and 5 to make hidden folders visible is:
- Click your Start menu and then open Control Panel
- In your Control Panel, if items are sorted by “Category” then select “Appearance and Personalization” on the right side, then in the second bottom area under “Folder Options” click on “Show hidden files and folders”. This will open the same options dialogue box shown in attached image #1.
- Otherwise, if Control Panel is sorted by Icons, simply click on “Folder Options” from the list to bring up the options dialogue box shown in attached image #1.
Yes, there are sylvaris born from one pod so we can call them “twins”.
There are even few missions with them : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Wild_Growth .
I forgot all about Arlon and Pellam! I’ve still not finished that storyline yet. :\
“Two sylvari, a pair of twins named Arlon and Pelham”
“Sylvari born from the same pod are extremely rare”
Stupid memory. Grr.
Thanks, leny.
(Note, the wiki shows “Pellam” and “Pelham”, so not sure if it is error on there or if it is also inconsistent in-game. Need to look next time I do that line)
(edited by StinVec.3621)
If you are interested in the appearance of your character then I highly recommend taking a look through each species’/gender’s armor gallery to get an idea of what your character can look like. All armors of the same weight class (light, medium, heavy) can be mixed so no need to think in full-set appearance as you can make your own outfits.
Armor Gallery: http://argos-soft.net/GW2/ArmorGallery
Weapon Gallery: http://argos-soft.net/GW2/WeaponGallery
You can copy and paste the [chat code links] for individual items from there and paste them into your chat box in-game. Doing this will place that item into the chat box so you can right-click it and select ‘Preview’ so you can look at all the armor you want mixed with other armor you want directly on your character.
Also take a look at the various player screenshot galleries to get some ideas for what looks you want to put together.
Player screenshots of mix-n-match armor only
Player screenshots of Asura only
Player screenshots of Charr only
Player screenshots of Humans only
Player screenshots of Norn only
Player screenshots of Sylvari only
Also, the Guild Wars 2 Wiki is a great place for information on absolutely everything related to GW2. If you want to load the wiki from in-game, just type this into your chat box:
/wiki thing I want to learn about
Examples:
/wiki dye
/wiki traits
/wiki transmuting armor
It will take you directly to the page you want info on or give search results on the closest matches. That last example will give you search results, the first one being “Transmutation” where it describes what transmutation is and how to do it.
In addition to the GW2 Wiki, Dulfy.net is also a really great resource for anything new going on in the game. Also plenty of guides and helpful tips available on there.
A lot of changes are coming on April 15th with the feature patch so expect several things to update on the wiki shortly afterward regarding the subjects outlined in these feature pack blogs

Depending on how you look at it, all sylvari born from the same tree could be siblings.
Or perhaps it is more of a “batch” type of situation where all sylvari born from the same batch are siblings. Though, what dictates when a new batch is started or ends?
Most likely, sylvari “born” in the same cycle on the same day may be the closest to what they might use to determine sibling status, if they have the concept of sibling/non-sibling at all.
Kultakorppi.4769 showed photos of their female sylvari with her male ‘podtwin’.
I’m not sure of what their criteria was to determine their being podtwins.
Are sylvari birthed from pods? I honestly have not looked to find out before, but during creation the cinematic does seem to show the character unawakened inside of a chrysalis.
Really haven’t thought about it before. Good question though.

…
I buy said dye on the TP for 15 silver on all 5 toons for a total of 75 silver. Now patch day comes around and I get my 4 unidentified dyes for that color. Each one is only going to be selling for around 20-25 silver when this patch drops (speculation but probably accurate). So I sell the 4 of them for 25 silver each for a total of 1 gold. Now I take out my listing fee of 10% to get 90 silver.
…
Just a note, you actually get less back from the situation you describe due to the Listing Fee of 5% in addition to the Sales Fee of 10%. So it’s actually only 85s return and not 90s. The “Projected Profit” does not include the 5% Listing Fee when displaying your Projected Profit. You must manually deduct the displayed Listing Fee from the displayed Projected Profit to see your actual projected profit from the entire transaction. Yeah…it’s quite misleading to many who don’t realize it doesn’t factor in the Listing Fee when determining Projected Profit and they end up selling at a loss.
final fantasy vii victory fanfare

And occasionally this (it isn’t music, but it is an exclamation of triumph):
