I can only talk for my guild, we follow orders as they are called out to us. If the commander says move, we move, if he says stop we stop. We practice every day and we know what the commander is going to say pretty much when he says it so we are an ‘in sync’ zerg-ball (you could say we aim to look as if we are bots, together we stand, divided we fall and all that). After all, WvW is a team environment isn’t it?

Check the video.. no one moves like that.. that’s clearly a bot behavior

Besides is not the 1st time we see a group from that guild moving that way.

While this wasn’t our guild because we were on Maguuma BL all week it didn’t seem like botting to me as they were very spread out (we are much much tighter in our zerg-ball, but who knows for sure?

1. They are multiboxing

2. They refuse to do anything besides what they are told, and such look pretty awful in alot of scenarios.

pick your poison

My guild and I have killed many WM running along the road who do not respond at all, definitely something strange going on. Either they are so devoted to their leader they do not deviate from his instructions at all (i.e., they’re insane) or they’re botting.

This is exactly what we train to do. What’s the problem?

In my opinion, anything and everything that is a part of GW2 is fair game for dailies and monthlies.

So, you’d be okay with having to craft a legendary as part of a monthly, say? I mean, legendaries are part of the game and there’s got to be plenty of players that could manage to craft a legendary if given a whole month. lol

Why be lazy?

Hey that could be a new category, legendailies… sorry, I’ll shut up now… :P

I went out to WvW for the first time in a couple of months today (Kaineng? Really? KAINENG??) and the culling was no better than I remember it. Eight or nine of us ran up a hill chasing one guy and when we got to the top we all just dropped dead, surrounded by a huge zerg. the same thing happened four or five times. Culling hasn’t been fixed at all.

The culling is just as bad on Kaineng’s side… :P

Grinding dailies

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StormageddonBK.9842

StormageddonBK.9842

IMO every action should be weighted and the sum of these weighted actions should then count towards your dailies and eventually monthlies. This way you could do whatever you wanted and it wouldn’t matter. If you want to craft, farm, wvw, de, fotm, pvp etc it all combines to a total. But Anet want you to do a grocery list of specific ‘jobs’, well, my wife and boss (same???) give me a list of things to do all the time so I’m already sick of following orders before I even boot up my PC.

This might be why I’ve play 5 hours/day since launch and still only have 2 pieces of exotics and no legendary, no gold etc (obviously I should l2p). I guess some day I’ll have to play the game Anets way if I want any descent gear…

On the positive side of things, at least with the laurels I’ll be able to get ascended gear.

In my opinion, this game requires too much grind

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

To get rid of the grind you have to have all gear with the same stats, just different cosmetic appearance. This way people won’t feel compelled to grind for extra damage etc.

I completely understand your frustrations Darkdanjal. The loot is meh and the drop-rate is almost non-existent. Seriously, I’ve been level 80 for 3-4 weeks, been farming PvE and WvW for at least 5 hours a day, and in that time I’ve killed 1,000s (npc’s and human) the drops have been 1 yellow, 1 BL key, a handful of blues and greens, but the rest has been white…

I’ve tried to do FoTM for some better drops but I can’t find anyone to group with and soloing them is impossible as can’t even make a dent in the first enemies health. Orr is the same, there’s no-one doing Orr to group up with and while the enemies are kill-able solo they don’t drop squat. I am totally confused as to how I’m meant to play the game in order to get rewards.

^^ well for one, there are tons of parts of the puzzle where you can’t make the jump if you’re in combat…. if the entire puzzle is subject to encountering combat, why are there parts that require you to not be in combat? Hard to get to someone with a longer range than you if getting closer requires you to jump gaps further than what a toon can jump while in combat. I also think you can have a more engaging PvP-type puzzle that actively gets people to fight without it being campers vs. camp-crashers.

Actually this isn’t true all the time, you can use a speed boost skill and make any jump while in combat. If you don’t have a speed boost, like one of my toons, then it becomes annoying…

StormageddonBK.9842

It just got into my mind.. they could have done it way more pleasant for the player who need to “farm” these dungeons due to the high token costs of the desired armor.

So how they could have handled it:
Whenever and how many times you want to run a dungeon you can do that until you can get one full armor set. Say the limit is 1200 tokens. So when you’ve done the dungeon that many times to reach that amount of tokens it will have a countdown, DR or whatever.

Why did they made the armor pieces where you have to farm for a lot of tokens, when you are restricted in when and how you can achieve that?
It doesn’t make any sense.

Spot on!

If you make something require 100 tokens and it takes you 2 hours to get 1 token then you have to wait 24 hours for DR cool-down before you can farm again, guess what. You have a MINIMUM of 100 days to get said tokens, that’s if you are regimented enough to do it.

But does the cool-down start at the end of the farming? If so that would blow the equation out to 108.3 days and you can’t play at the same time each day because you have to start farming 2 hours later each day!!!!

This whole thing is doing my head in.

Is it just me or did they nerf dailys?

One of the worst things in this game for me (in jumping puzzles and orchards) is the camera. The way the camera zooms in-out like a yoyo is beyond ridiculous. Why is the camera treated as a physical object that hits walls and trees? Why can’t it be set at a distance by the player and if a wall/rock/tree/building is obscuring the view of the player then it should become transparent so as not to hinder the players view. Continuously fighting with the camera so I can see what I’m doing is a massive killjoy of this game.

How many FPS game servers can handle more than 64 players? As far as I know, most FPS for the past 12-15 years have set the stable limit at 32, with 64 being configurable and not guaranteed. You would think that after that many years we would have games that could handle more players (more bandwidth, better hardware) but we don’t. Why? Because as time goes by more powerful games introduces more powerful gameplay mechanics which then add more load to the servers.

How much security and anti-cheat code existed in these older X more players games? How much projectile path and collision detection did they have? Skills and rules enforcement? Data transmission rate? Multi-system data collection and processing synchronizations?

You cannot seriously compare an FPS server to an MMO server. I can’t pretend I know how much work a single GW2 server does, but I imagine it’s doing a lot more than just sending updates for 64-128 players and their gun calculations like an FPS server would.

That’s my point. An FPS server hasn’t been able to handle more players over the years despite the rise in technology. So why do some people expect an MMO to have some means of improving capabilities over the years?

From my understanding the limits in FPS players online are more to do with 2005 console limits more than 2012 PC and/or server limits.

I highly doubt this is hardware related as Moore’s law suggests computer power doubles every 24 months. So, if an online game had 16 players on screen at 1 time in the year 2000 (many games had this in 2000), so when applying Moore’s law in 2012 we should have 1024 players on screen without any adverse impact on performance. Of course there are many factors to consider but culling most visible players in your view is unacceptable regardless of data traffic.

I would like to see this.

Perhaps when a map population of any given server is 20 or less it joins other servers of the same map that also have 20 or less people in it. That way if 10 servers for a map are in ‘underflow’ you have a potential population of 200. This would dramatically combat deserted maps IMO (as long as it can be done of course).

I agree, what is the ‘requirement’ for someone to become commander? Well the game was designed for it to be 100g, that’s it. There’s no skill, knowledge or personality test.

I love to follow commanders in both WvW and PvE, not because I can’t do things solo, but because this is supposed to be a social game and commanders usually have an entourage following them where I get to easily meet new players as a result.

I do agree that there should be an option in the map to display/don’t display various items, such as the commander flag, but to throw hate on commanders that are using the game as it was designed to be used?! That’s a shallow, selfish act IMO.

So again, why does GW2 need this?

80 doesn't feel like achievement

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

StormageddonBK.9842

- Consider playing with a perma-death rule of some kind (like only allowing 5 defeats). Then, getting to 80 will be a real accomplishment.

I deleted over 40 toons doing a true self imposed permadeath rule (I was a very avid Diablo 2 hard-core player). The highest level I could get to was 30 without dying. However, I was getting so frustrated with the game while playing this way because 90% of my deaths were super-cheap, i.e. a fall or 1 hit death (bloody troll in cave!!!), which made me think the game wasn’t designed to have 0 deaths…

So I’ve left PvE for good and I now spend all my time in WvW where I don’t view deaths as a blot on my toon. This is where I’ve finally found enjoyment in the game, not sPvP or PvE.

PS, I got the survival achievement award in WvW 2 hours after a death. So I spent over 2 months in PvE with no award (despite some of my toons surviving up to 2 weeks), but a couple of days in WvW with hundreds of deaths I get the award… go figure. :s

they CAN legally release an expansion as pay to play. The original game up to that point has to stay free, but from any point on they can make the game subscription based.

And again, you’re not giving money for nothing, you’re going to give that money. Either you’re paying a subscripton every month, or you’re buying a new expansion every few months where everyone else releases a content patch. Or you need to have that set of gear before you can do the new stuff they added to the game? 1,000 gems / piece. There is no such thing as a free to play MMORPG, they have to make back their development and operating costs.

Go look at any free to play MMORPG out there. They lure you in with the fact that yes, the game is free to play, but they never said it was free to progress.

Do you really think a subscription would “replace” the purchase price? Look at the other MMOs out there, WoW doesn’t forgo purchase prices for their $15/month fee.

And by they way, the marketing we all got was ‘NO SUBSCRIPTIONS!’ And I would think it’d include expansions as well (1 time purchase for each one of course).

This means they could not legally say to their millions of customers which bought their game based on this fact, ‘Sorry, but we’ve decided to rip you all off $?/month.’

They’ve made their product, marketed it, and sold it without subs. And you’re kidding yourself OP if you think the game on subs would give you better gear or change the way the game plays.

The marketing also would have had us believe that we would never be driven to the gem store as a means to acquire gold to cover artificially inflated costs of materials due to unadvertised and unacknowledged reductions in open world loot, or informed us of the rapid introduction of increasing tiers of itemization requiring, unsurprisingly, quite vast quantities of said materials.
Nor indeed did the advertising make mention of the cyclic manipulation of scripted market suppliers, whose existence and activities serve said economic process to further increase the capacities of the monetization treadmill.
But most regrettably of all – we have no rainbow-imbued ponies upon which to canter across the plains of Queensdale, resplendent in all our finery. This is the greatest of travesties.

I would love aNet to put a practice (no reward) JP for those who find it hard enough to traverse the jumps so they can learn without being sniped by siege weapons. I know everyone is subjected to this griefing at some point but it really takes the fun out of a game you are still learning.
