How is the enemy server able to claim your structures anyway?
Don’t tell me about the mechanics, as I know : troll account and repping the guild. I get the base mechanics.
But how do they rate enough damage on your server to be in the claim priority list over your guilds?
If they are that high up in the claim priority List, you are kittened anyway because if they are that populated on your server, or you are that scarce on your server, then tactics are the least of your worries.
Only time i ever do any thing like that is when i am done for wvw for the moment if i got max participation then yea i am going to sit there for 2 ticks be for i log out or go back to pve
Obsidian Sanctum allows you to tick down. Can’t gain there, but you can tick down and get the progress that is left.
Also… the OP noted they were an avid WvW player. The release of a legendary back piece was noted over.. what.. 8 weeks ago? There were countless pip threads, numerous skirmish ticket threads, it was all over team chat on my server..
How does it take the OP until August 25th to realize that they are annoyed they need a tag?
Anywho… legendary = gold sink and this back piece is actually one of the cheapest, and quite frankly THE single most versatile Legendary out there (as a back item that is)
No other legendary weapon/armor can be used on ALL classes, all armor weights and all builds.
To me, a legendary back piece makes more sense than most other things.
To me, the legendary back pieces makes the least sense to get from a pragmatic perspective.
The ascended blood ruby backpack can already have its stats reset.
Even if you were to include the cost of pulling 1 thousand infusions out of the back piece before resetting, it comes out cheaper. And you’re unlikely to every reach that number unless you’re swapping characters 24/7.

But this legendary is actually cheaper than any of the legendary weapons I use.
It’s a personal thing for me, but has more flexibility in my case.
And I’ve noted in a different thread, it’s likely cheaper to do multiple ascended packs from the WvW tracks than getting the legendary. I have five of those. But IF a legendary is part of what you seek, I think this one makes as much sense or more than any other.
If buying the tag is too expensive, then just run the new map tracks and get ascended back pieces. In a matter of 3 months, I’ve gotten 6 ascended back pieces while working on warbringer.. and other legendary weapons.
I see not a single one of you are familiar with squad participation. that solves literally ever single person telling me i dont know what im talking about.

I however prefer players that are actively participating get rewarded greater than those that are watching game of thrones. Scouts and camp guards are always welcome to squad participation for that exact reason.

Yes, BG is an issue. But more about the mechanisms they were able to put into place. Other servers did it. Just failed. We’re people this salty about JQ being the number one NA server for the first three years?
We actually had a conflict with our own linked server the other day. The commanders from the smaller, linked server refused to cooperate with our server, effectively meaning we had a split and non cooperative force on a borderland. Usually the smaller server falls into line with the larger, but it was only a matter of time before we ran into a smaller server with a strong identity and it has caused a lot of tension and ill feeling.
I have a lot of sympathy for their stance, as smaller linked servers are losing their identity and its about time one of them fought back and tried to keep it. Unfortunately it hurts our matchup and is not going down well for anyone.2.
Now you have LOW END servers paired with TOP end servers and low end servers getting rolled over cause they stand no chance,
E.G. SoS is a rank 7 server and they are fighting a Rank 1 and Rank 3 server.
This demoralizes the people on the low end server that is Rank 23 to not even play all week which means SoS takes a hard loss. End result is WvW becomes less active and more like a ghost town.Right now no one on our server has really played WvW, to start with someone siege locked up in one night
SoS has played harder than most servers. They are in the tier one matchup because of one up, one down. So, get rid of one up, one down? Because the reason the other servers aren’t facing BG is that they intentionally tank. SoS actually fights. It’s been refreshing.
Did your server come out last week! When it was facing the tier two servers? Because evidently someone played.
The system stinks, but blowing them all up and forcing people to possibly be split up from their guilds.
Honestly, the way it is now should let people see how pointless it is to win. As some servers are tanking to go down and ‘win’ against lower servers..
nobody is concerned on enemy team getting pips they are concerned with getting pips themselves. the most efficient way of getting that is to be the scout/roamer to collect participation from the squad.

It’s annoying as heck, but people need to get over it. It seems his first statement isn’t accurate: ‘people don’t care about others getting pips’ which is really what this post is about. It would appear that the OP wants people to only get pips the way he thinks they should.
And you are saying that capping towers and keeps and camps and SMC is just PvE.
Of course some of the ways to promote people to come out or to get them to come to your borderland is to take their stuff. But hey.. I guess you can just bounce from BL to BL hoping to find the other group.
While we are at it, just remove PPK because that is only about score and the score doesn’t matter. It’s all about the fights.
And force WP of dead players. So when you die you immediately re spawn- at spawn. No pin sniping will happen there.
Camps, towers and keeps are vital. Crack them open to get them to fight. Quit trying to penalize people for playing the game.
Anet should add back in the boosts for WxP, you should beable to get them from killing enemies in battle, Anet added a big WvW rank to some items and its an ultra grind, I cant see why new players would even want to start trying to grind out 2000 levels, ( and that just for now, who knows what is coming later )
The Skirmish chests are not that great either, they could add 1000WxP tonics in them chests, at least give us something useful.
Long story short, give us back the WxP boosters that used to drop ranging from 100xp – 25,000xp
I love WvW but grinding out the next 900 levels for my next +1 pip ( from WvW rank ) is kind of tedious.
They do drop. But they are instant use so you do t actually see them

Most of us were hoping for increased numbers to WvW. Granted, we want people who will enjoy it and play it for longer than just the rewards, but likely a number of them will stay.
More people should be offering to help them learn the mode instead of yelling ‘Get off my lawn!!’
And to the poster that noted his Guild leader is pvd’ing now? Maybe that isn’t the guild for you anymore.
1450 pips needed per week
If he gets 5 pips per tick (average) – assuming we are 2nd + 1pip from the previous week wooden chest – this is 60 pips per hour. Look I don’t even include the outnumbered which may sometimes appear. BUT lets say it doesn’t appear whole week. 1450/60 = 24 hours and 5-10 mins. So spread these 24 hours in 1 week. He needs around 3 hours and 15-20 min per day. In reality, he will need less than 3 hours because of the outnumbered pips sometimes.
And I know some new players who spend 8-10 hours per day in WvW, farm the pips in 2-3 days and don’t touch wvw next 4-5 days.
Put 5-10 min per day for t3 participation.
But none of what you note is bad. Of course, some new players will do that. No shock there.
The sweet spot will be if people start drawing them in. Where I play my small group has done so with multiple players. These will be people who play the mode more in the future. Will they play as much as I do? Or make it their main mode? Maybe not.
Some new people will try it after the first few weeks of the expansion as most WvW maps will likely see a small drop initially because of the story. Welcome the newer players in and offer to teach.
I know many of us? That’s was our way into WvW. We got help. Or, we have helped.
And if they tell you you get lost, then you can always have fun watching them get stomped.

can someone explain why guest servers that are linked with a “full” server are not locked for transfer? it makes no sense, not only do they get a server to handhold them but people can transfer there freely, thank you for the answer

Your server is a host and has links because it can’t sustain itself either. Otherwise you would not have a linked server.

In EU servers that got high population and is in t1 gets links, servers that otherwise are full status. People are transfering to guest servers that are linked with full servers to steamroll their opponents.
Yes linking was a good idea but with the introduction of rewards its not really neccesary anymore because most servers got players. If they trully want a better enviroment for everyone they should just redo the entire gamemode and close servers that are considered “empty” . Theres no reason to keep empty servers up other then allow people to play with “full” servers.
Yes roflstomping enemies is fun, but what about the ones getting roflstomped all the time? linking solved nothing.
The server getting roflstomped by these people. Will just not show up to play. I see it happening on my server. In broken match ups. Most players on my server will just not play leaving the match up even more broken for us. Eventually these people will follow suit do the same in order to not keep getting curb stomped by beyond full servers. In GW2 the saying if you can’t beat’em join’em is a favorite of what’s left of most of the WvW players.
Lets look at SoS, it seems most of these people have already started to bandwagon SoS. ANet is more then likely perfectly fine with this. As it brings them more money in the form of gem sales. Thus this is why it’s my belief that ANet will open up BG, MAG, and JQ again. Because there is a demand for curb-stomping others in lopsided WvW match ups. And ANet has the supply and the need of money. I am almost %100 sure we’ll see BG, JQ, and MAG open up for PoF expansion. Money talks B S walks.

SoS may have people transfer in, but not sure based on the other posts why they would do that to lose their T-1 matchup, though they are competing well with YB.
I just don’t see BG opening soon. It’ll be sometime after the expansion. Likely more than 2 months from the expat start.
You are correct that one person can’t change it. I’ve found like minded people and our group runs 6-8 (with upwards of 10) successfully with a power/condi/ class mix.
I can’t wait for the musical chairs to stop and then big surprise for the server hoppers when Anet says "we’re undoing linking, where you are now is now your home server. All full servers will remain “full” and not open to transfer."
Then linking can be declared successful at redistributing the population!

Meta is player created and is there for player comfort. Each class has its place in WvW. And each class has a game mode where it is part of player created META.
If the META bores you, switch what you do in WvW for a while. Havoc some, roam, build to beat the META. It’s funny when you hit someone who is expecting condi and you hit them with power.
If META is boring: change it.

I do video it and submit it to the exploits e-mail when I see it. Also I only do this when I recognize the guild tag and can clearly see the same guild on the opposing server on the map. Often it occurs with the same person building grief seige (tons of rams at the supply depot) to drain all of the supply, moments before an attack.
As to more posting isn’t making a difference, I was merely responding to the person I quoted.

Also, I am not sure about the BG team speak setup, but at least one other server established their TS to auto kick people when their API showed they moved to another server. This prevented them from getting verified and leaving while still being in the TS.
It made the admins job a little easier. Heaven forbid.

Just establish a timeline with the Current servers that purges affiliation after 6 weeks of inactivity within WvW which would purge gubernatorial. When the attempt to log into WvW, require them to select a new server. If they are inactive for 6 weeks, then they are not consistently active enough. When the log back in, it spreads population.
We know at least one server hibernates at times to open their server for transfers. This helps to combat it some.
Of course it could be gamed. But it also punts those secondary accounts that aren’t played into the pool as well.

I have the feeling a large percentage of people in WvW are just there to farm the rewards now and do not actualy participate in any healthy WvW gameplay. They just wander from camp to camp because it is the easiest way to get 10min participation then idle again. This is especially bad on maps with outmanned buff where you could use anyone to defend objectives, but a lot of people just wont come help and rather stay next to a camp and wait for timer to run out.
Recent example: Hill gets attacked by a few enemies (around 5) they are already at inner wall and around 20 people stand at the spawn camp waiting for the timer while the hill ultimately gets lost despite help was being requested in map chat.
It seems anytime Anet adds more rewards to a gamemode people are quick to find every loophole to gain the rewards as easy as possible while not caring about the people who legitimately want to play the gamemode but get sabotaged (quite apparent in ranked pvp seaosons “i just want my rewards” people.
So.. if those players standing AFK at spawn weren’t there, would anything change?
They aren’t clogging a space on an outnumbered map.
Now, if the map is qued, that is a little more annoying. But capping a camp, gives score.
Now, they may not be helping as much as they COULD, but it IS helping and not hurting.
Today is a prime example of “out of tier” and no answers.
Management of WvW is an abomination.

SoS is in tier one because they have ‘won’ their way there.
And you are likely correct about guilds either throwing matches or intentionally trying to lose to get the matchups they prefer.
Some servers are more blatant about it than others.
Removing links would initially help, but the reality is some guilds travel to linked servers to be with members who are on locked servers. So… as soon as that became a possibility again, and links were removed, tiers would likely become barren in the lower levels.
Which… if they kept the server population level around, let’s say Mags level, then some might move down.

And only armor/ weapon boxes and rings drop. Accessories and amulets might pop in a tank chest, but now in any other box.
Still note they can be bought from the TP, (the actual matrices) and fractals are truly the fastest way.
Also, if you mention your server, there are people willing to help new players looking to enter WvW and willing to learn how best to help.
You do understand that game has already changed most of the core skills, traits, runes, stats and conditions, during the HoT release and years following it? Simply disabling elite specs is not going to bring back “good old days” since everything else has been changed also.
The OP’s request is not an ask for a return to the early days, it’s an ask for players who have not spent the cash to unlock the elite specs to be able to avoid competing with players who have.
Complete utter kitten, i own HoT and might get the next expansion too, The game is currently to unbalanced 50% of the fights i have nowdays are just endless fights where you can’t kill each other so eventually you just disengage. Everyone now has to much passive defense and blocks and blinds and insane heals and stealth all without sacrificing anything. The only way to balance this is to remove the elite specs. If your actually defending elite specs being balanced your a joke and have no experience in WvW what so ever. Get lost with your nonsense claims.
In essence, go to vanilla which has changed as well because people are unwilling to change their playstyle to combat the new specs?
i agree it would impact thief the most(simple balance fix solve that issue). But i think more pro side to this then cons am i wrong ?

only thing i see on topic is leaving a fight with stealth. i mean you still need to be 2500 range to break combat.
you could design it so simply just cant apply more stealth to you once you are out of combat so if you go out of combat with 15 seconds of stealth it just slowly time off you.
to be clear i am simply just open talking about the idea. please do not get upset at suggestion that anet would take this seriously. i just like hearing people view on how WvW could change or improve.
Yep.. it would force A-net to eliminate at least 8 skills.

-sneak attack
-back stab
-tactical strike
-blinding powder
-smoke bomb
-hide in shadows.
Each of these have the primary function of working either IN stealth, or causing stealth. It would be pointless to use them out of combat…..
The fact that someone uses stealth as an escape, Shouldn’t be a reason to get rid of it as an option.
It wouldn’t just impact their class the most, it would turn the class into a noodle swinging non spell casting, 900 range base ranger.
It would kill the profession in WvW.
Maining necro, there are positives to that… ????
But I would rather jump into a pit of stealthed thieves and get back stabbed by all of them, then completely break the core aspects of a profession.

At least on BG, if you are on voice coms, they want you in. Some will allow you in squad without coms, but it is discouraged. Some will run closed raids.
Generally though, if you are in TS, you are welcome to join.
They’re freely tradable in the trading post and you can buy and salvage rings using laurels if you enjoy wasting laurels.
Fractals, like wvw, take place in the mists. So spiritually they’re next door neighbors.
So true on the laurels. I would rather hold them or hold convert them.
To answer your question a little further: yes, fractals is the easiest and quickest way.
It will take longer waiting for drops especially if your MF isn’t very high.
I get a ring a week. I haven’t had accessories drop yet. Only rings and armor/weapons
Like the GoB for legendary weapons needing WvW for Primary PvE players, they evidently want a little cross playing for legendary items. At least you can get in WvW.
Laurels: you can get upwards of 55 laurels each 28 days played. Which would get you 2 rings per month.
Well you can’t dodge thief first attack. First backstab is instant straight from stealth.
Said thief has already blown most of his action points, or shadow refuge, to pull that off without you seeing it coming.
If you saw a thief suddenly go invisible, you can pretty much assume he’s coming for you, and throw up a block.
Most thieves aren’t carrying around 20 seconds of stealth anymore.
Hell, tbh. Most of the thieves I’ve fought aren’t even wearing zerkers gear anymore. Backstabbing isn’t as stupidly amazing as it used to be.
As for the discussion, everyone runs tanky as hell now-a-days. Why are you trying to make that even worse?
I literally sat in a 15 man group’s bomb yesterday questioning “where is the damage”. I’ll tell you where it was, non-existent. They were just melee training and killing all the scrubs that don’t know how to dodge, and are running PvE gear.
The only class I even remotely fear in this game is a reaper, and that’s only because of all the boon corruption.
I don’t have blocks. So should i use mistform straight after thief go stealth?
As an ele you have the ability to negate almost all power thief damage by just camping Earth with Stone Heart.
If you see them stealth up, you can swap attunements and the backstab will get negated (technically blocked – including unblockable attacks – on any critical strike as it negates procs as well) entirely. Backstab is actually less-bursty than just using dagger AA after Shadow Shot. Strictly speaking, ele is probably the second best power-thief-killer in the game if traited to deal with them, following DH. FA played well hard-counters thief as well because it has mass AoE blinds which negate stealth attack usage and offers a lot of CC and huge burst numbers.
Anticipating the attack from stealth is an acquired skill that is also best learned by just playing a thief for a while.
He doesn’t just play ele though, saw him running around most of the time on scrapper with toolkit for more blocks. He then rage whispered half my guild saying they should play something with risk like Sc/D ele. This is with me playing a core DD ele so not exactly something super easy in the meta so take that how you will.
If he as a roamer hasn’t a counter to thieves oneshotting him that’s his problem because many classes will CC and burst from stealth given half a chance. He could always trait tempests defence and/or use arcane shield or even have auto arcane shield at 50% and not be silly enough to run full zerk.
If you run full zerk Sc/D ele and have only mistform as your defence that is 100% your fault and you deserve to die for running a bad build.
Full glass vanilla s/d ele players are only ones who i don’t send rage whispers. D/D ele is braindead spec and only reason to play it is low skill level.

Again, a lot of posters want WvW balanced around a 1v1 mode. It’s designed to be balanced around group play. (Granted, whether it’s actually balanced is another argument)
We had 126 man ques… and almost no one on EB yet we never had the outmanned buff.
So, please help me here: you are saying the ques showed 126, yet you were seeing no one from your server on map?
Lag is horribad in T-1, which is why many transfer off.

But heck, crafting the precursors, or buying them, all of which will run you at least 300 gold for anything other than an Underwater one.

There’s usually things like gift of wood, metal, energy etc which tend to have costs of 100-500g depending on the resources and TP prices. Gift of lightning on its own has cost 120g just in charged lodestones before and vials of liquid silver are hilariously expensive to make. All of which just gets flushed.
Warbringer you use WvW currencies to make that gift, it’s significantly cheaper even slapping on a commander tag as part of the requirement.

With this system, why would 50 man guilds destack? If they move down tiers, likely they can’t get into one BL because the other servers likely won’t field 50 (or 30-40) on each map?
My guild who tends to run groups of 10-15 at max would like this, but…

Well idea isn’t that keep change owner whole time and fights should actually only happen in keeps and towers. Fighting in open field is kind of stupid.
Are you from YB? Just curious why you would say open field fights are stupid? Open field fights are the best part of WvW! If you want to defend your towers and keeps that is fine. But when that is all you do then maybe EOTM is for you.

Most people don’t know the lore and don’t care. They bought a game called Guild Wars.
This is no better that the OP’s idea. It’s a forced move, breaking up communities. And it doesn’t prevent stacking in the future.
Sorry, but to quote the games name without understanding where it comes from is.. well, Not accurate. That’s the nicest thing I could say.
It’s also why we don’t have organized GvG. If it was truly supposed to be a war of guilds, it would have GvG.
Too many people don’t identify with a guild. Or use two depending on the timezone they are playing in.
But most importantly, what is to stop a server, one who has been very effective at gaming the system, from starting a guild for all of their players, then do you break up a guild?
How do you siding that?
If you don’t identify with a WvW guild then you will be moved with the guild you are representing.
Limit WvW guild size. The devs can determine what the optimal size is.
Again, the game is called Guild Wars. The devs should remember that.
